This document summarizes two studies on using Facebook as a learning management system and educational environment: 1. A study of using Facebook groups in two courses found that students were generally satisfied with Facebook's affordances as an LMS. Weekly tutorials and online discussions were organized through Facebook groups. 2. A review of research identified benefits and challenges of Facebook for education. Benefits included improved classroom practices and language learning skills, while challenges were an inability to directly display some file formats, potential for bad behaviors, and privacy invasion. The main reason for using Facebook was noted as interaction between students, teachers, and administrators.
