This document analyzes the deformation of buried PVC pipes due to various soil layers and external loads using finite element analysis in ABAQUS. It models a 7.4m buried PVC pipe with a diameter of 0.6m under different load conditions from 100 to 300 lb/in. The results show that both vertical and horizontal deformation increase with increasing load. Maximum deformation occurs in the vertical direction. Different soil layers are also modeled, with vertical deformation increasing under higher loads. The finite element model provides insight into stresses and displacements on buried pipes from soil and surface loads that can be used for pipeline design.
