2. Introduction:
Extension Education is a participatory process and involves
five essential and interrelated steps.
• The sequence is discussed on the basis of concept developed
by Legans( 1967)
4. Collection of facts and analysis of situation.
Fact about the people and their environment.
Responses obtained r to be analyzed with the local
people to identify the problems and resources
available in the community.
Eg: Survey
1. SITUATION ( What it is now ) :
5. The Next step is deciding realisticobjectives
which may be accomplished by the
community.
THE objective should be specific and clearly stated and
on completion shouldbring satisfaction to the
community.
Objective should state the behavioral changes in
people as well as economical and social
outcomes.
Objective ( What should be )
6. What should be taught and how the people
should be taught.
It requires selecting research findings of economic
and practical importance relevant to community,
and
selection and combination of appropriate teching
methods and aids.
3. Teaching ( What to teach & how to
teach )
7. Fourth step is evaluating the teaching, i.e. Determining
the extent to which the objectives have been
reached.
To evaluate the results of an eduationla programmes , it
is desirable to conduct re-survey.
The evidence of changed behavior should be
collected, which shall not only provide a measure of
success, but shall also indicate the deficiencies.
4. Evaluating ( What has been achieved )
8. :• The fifth step is reconsideration of the entire extension
education programme in the light of the results of
evaluation.
• The problems identified in the process of evaluation may
become starting point for the next phase of EEP.
• Thus, the continuous process of extension education shall go
on, resulting in the progress of the people from a less
desirable to more desirable situation.
5. Reconsideration ( What next to do)
