• We as a group have kept
the clothing in our film
to casual clothes to
replicate our target
audience of Young
Alts/teenagers, although
we wanted to portray their
personalities and emotions
through objects and
colours. For example the
Protagonist of our film
wears a bandage over his
face not for medical
purposes but for disguise
to hide the one feature
that distinguishes him
from everybody else, his
yellow eyes.
C L O T H I N G I N
O B L I V I O N
• As a group we looked at the
clothing in the successful
Sci-Fi film Oblivion
starring Tom Cruise as the
main antagonist. His
clothes are very clean and
clinical, limited to whites
and greys, his clothing is
very similar to most other
characters, but what
defines him is his
personality and decisions.
We have tried to replicate
this but with our
Protagonist as he is part
of a larger collective of
species who dress the same
style of clothing.
T H E M E S : C O L O U R ,
O P P O S I T E S E T C … • Normally the Sci-Fi genre
works with themes of
light/dark and good/evil.
As a group we wanted to
present this through not
only landscape and
lighting but also
costume. Using a key
feature in our genre:
hinting at strong themes,
social topics and later
events in the film we
chose the protagonist to
cover his face with a
clean white bandage and
the antagonist to wear a
black jacket. These
colours don’t suggest
their intends or views
but more show that their
personalities, intents
and views do clash and
contrast with each other
C L O T H I N G I N
E L Y S I U M
We were inspired by the
costume of the main
antagonist in Elysium
as for most of the film
he is attached to
robotic exoskeleton.
His character is quiet
and secretive but his
added equipment gives
him power and an
opportunity to survive.
We have replicated this
with simple objects and
colours.
C O N C L U S I O N
• To conclude both films we
analysed used simple one word
titles which we have
effectively used. We have used
many ideas and traits from the
Sci-Fi genre but represented
the in a unique non-
traditional way. From this we
have learned that with in
depth storylines and
captivating effects and topics
can be achieved with
simplicity and natural
landscapes. We have aimed to
represent our target audience
in order to gain their full
support not only to the
storyline but to both the
antagonists and the
protagonists of the film.
