The Most Important Part Of Their Job Is Writing Briefs Essay
A lawyers job is to defend their client and help them out of any situation. Lawyers have many
task they have to perform in order to help their client like going to trial, looking in the clients pass
to help with the situation, and many other things. The most important part of their job is writing
briefs. Writing briefs take time and research, so when the judge review the case they would make
the correct decision. Each practice of law do not have a specific briefassigned to them, but there
are many types of briefs to consider. The different forms of briefs are; appellate brief, legal brief,
amicus curiae, memorandum of law, and trial brief. The most effective and the most detailed brief
is the appellate brief. The appellate brief is used in appeals court to persuade the judges and jurors.
The appealcourt it the second court above the lower court. Lawyers file an appeal because they
believe that the decision made in the lower courts was not fair and they would like to go to trial
again. Most trials don t go to the appeals court unless the case is a civil case, criminal case, and
or a bankruptcy case (USCourt). During most bankruptcy cases the appellants will have to write
a appellate brief. While civil and criminal cases may appeal to the verdict. Once the decision is
made in the appeals court its final, unless the parties want the U.S Supreme Court to view the case.
If the case is submitted to the appeals court then the lawyers will have to start preparing for the

Christian Mission Book Review Essay
Christian Mission Book Review Part two begins with David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary,
and a professional doctor. He was very interested in exploration and his main goal was to stop
Portuguese and Arab slave trade, he believed in human self worth. He got his men and his
supplies and started his voyage to Africa to map Africa, he was successful at mapping most of
Zambezi. Livingstone was accused of not being a real missionaryand he was too political but he
always made sure he was working with God in mind. Livingstone died at the age of 60 in 1873
defending the African s freedom. His people cut out his heart and buried it, the rest of his body
was mummified and taken to Westminster Abbey to be buried, as he wished. A statue was built in
his honor with the base reading, Missionary, Explorer, Liberator . Livingstone is one example of
how much political and economic power a Christian missionary can have. He also encouraged the
work of the Jesuits in China. The western power and missionaries have created bad names for the
social/cultural changes or for being connected with colonialism, imperialism, westernity, and
modernity mostly by the missionaries. Some say that Christianityhas challenged or strengthened
the local power. Scientific racism first came up in the 1850s Joseph Arthur de Gobineu s book
called Essi sur l inegalite des races humanines. He believed that the African and Asian people could
be a part of the Christian religionor culture because

Futurist Religion
It was Ali Muhammad As Sallaabee who posed on his book The Noble life of a prophet that a
prophet is someone called by God and filled with God s Spirit, a prophet spoke God s word to
people who had in one way or another distanced themselves from God. The prophet has for its task
not only to deliver the message from God to the people but also to predict the future. For the bible
informs us that surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the
prophets.
Through the ministry of the prophets, we are introduced to prophecies, dreams, visions and account
of the end time events which is different from the thus said the Lord. They bring clearance to the

Instead, prophecy is to be regarded as purely a symbolic form of instruction regarding eternal truths
about good and evil. Most idealists are preterists. This suggests that the fulfillment of all prophecies
is of the past.
3)HISTORICISM: This system of interpretation is also known as the Protestant system because it
was cherished during the time surrounding the Reformation. It emphasizes the fact that prophecy
has continuity as its chief characteristic and that therefore the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation
are to interpreted as signifying events commencing at the time of the prophecy but surveying all
centuries until the end of time.
It is important for one to know, despite of the many schools of thought that may differ in their
interpretation. God has already made his message clear to us by the ministry of his prophets.
Ellen G. White, in her writings brings back to our memory that prophecy has its fulfilment in the
past, present and future. Some prophecies are already fulfilled, some are fulfilling in these actual
days while some are for the future. Therefore she says in her book Child Guidance that we cannot
afford to live with no reference to the Day of Judgment; for though long delayed, it is now near,
even at the door, and hasteth greatly. The trumpet of the Archangel will soon startle the living and

Devil Wears Prada Essay Quotes
Devil Wears Prada
Devil Wears Prada is a story of a protagonist, Andrea Sachs and her occupational journey of trying
to balance her profession and her social life. Andrea or known as Andy, has graduated and is hoping
for a job as a journalist. Despite her dreams of becoming a journalist she receives a job at a fashion
magazine known as Runway magazine as an assistant for Miranda Priestly. Throughout the movie,
Andy had to balance her social life and her career pursuit where Miranda had given her many
problematic tasks that Andy had to complete. In the workplace, there will be a wide variety of
instances where you will work hard to complete a task, without receiving any recognition. Three
instances where Andy completed a difficult task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The task of attaining the manuscript was the breaking point of Andy s workplace, however as
she received the manuscript Andy felt relieved. After getting the manuscript, Miranda was
astonished and started to show Andy respect. After the completion of this task, Andy had
responded in a respectful manner as she answered Miranda s questions about the manuscript.
This was quite humble of Andy as she achieved an impossible task and still spoke to Miranda in
a kind demeanor. If I was in Andy s shoes I would not do things differently as Miranda is her boss
and is willing to fire Andy. Considering this, I would respond to Miranda in the same way Andy
did as her job is on stake. It is evident that this task was difficult and a burden for Andy.
Another instance where Andy had to complete a difficult task was memorizing a protracted list
of names for the fashion extravaganza. They had to tell the names of the guests to Miranda as
they approached her. This task was difficult as she had to memorize all these names by midnight.
In one instance, Andy saved Emily as she forgot the name of one of the guests and Andy
whispered the name into Miranda s ear. Miranda s reaction of this was slightly thankful however
mostly neutral. Emily had a different reaction and was impressed at Andy s work. Andy responded
with a slight nudge and smiled as Emily thanked her. I agree with how Andy responded as she didn
t celebrate that she did something correct and was quite

How The Media Is The Issue Of The 21st Century
1. The relationship of money to Free Speech is the issue of the 21st century. (Bill Moyers in
Freedom of Speech for Sale).
a) In the light of this quotation, explain both the advantages and dangers of media ownership
concentrated in only a few mega corporations. Refer to specific readings/viewings to back up your
thoughts.
b) According to Robert McChesney ( Corporate Media the Threat to Democracy ), and the movie
Free Speech for Sale, why is such a concentration of corporate ownership a threat to democracy ?
(Hint: begin by defining democracy. )
c) Include in your discussion both what the function of the media should be in a democracy, and
what the function of the media is in danger of becoming under the current system. Use specific
examples from the readings and the viewings.
The issue in the 21st century is the fact that corporations are the hand that guides the media and
the government. When Viacom, Disney, and other large companies are also paying for the
lobbying for the politicians, it is no longer a democracy for the people, by the people, but a
corporatocracy. This is a term used to refer to an economic and political system under control by
corporations and/or corporate interests. Only the people with deep pockets use their access to the
media to overwhelm the general public. Such as The Telecom Act of 1996 tried to break up
television monopolies but Title 3 Cable Services , which allowed for media cross ownership just
basically canceled out the main idea

The Goals Of Love And Romantic Relationships
In a disquieting chapter on Love and Romantic Relationships, Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini (2015)
list the goals of love and romantic relationships as 1) obtaining sexual gratification , 2)
establishing a family bond , and 3) gaining resources and social status (p. 246). The authors use
the unconventional (p. 273) relationship of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo as a positive (p. 273)
example of a love relationship. Numerous questions and philosophical issues may be raised by the
authors perspective. One of which is that the goals listed above seem to be self focused. Are love
and romantic relationships truly about having one s own needs met? Questions like this can best be
answered by understanding the difference between selfishness, selflessness, and altruism.
In a PowerPoint presentation (2010), Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini define pure altruism as, behavior
that benefits another intentionally for no external or internal reward (slide 66). Neel Burton M.D.
(2016) further clarifies,
An act should not be written off as selfish or self motivated simply because it includes some
inevitable element of self interest [or reward]. The act can still be counted as altruistic if the selfish
element is accidental; or, if not accidental, then secondary; or, if neither accidental nor secondary,
then undetermining... [This is the] very heart of ancient virtue, which can be defined as the
perfection of our nature through the triumph of reason over passion. The truly altruistic act

Cheating Is A Hot Topic
Cheating
Introduction
Cheating is a hot topic these days. There is much pressure on a student or child to perform well
in class. Not only does the pressure build academically, but physically on the sports field. As
parents, are we encouraging this behavior because we want our student to do well and achieve
the end goal of being recognized or to receive a scholarship? I see it happening and depending on
who the child/parent is, I might say something, because the end result could result horribly. I can
remember a time, and I am dating myself here, back in high school, I remember it distinctly. I was
a sophomore at Portage Northern High School. I was sitting in Mr. Sterner s Spanish class and
we are about to take a test. Let me advice, Spanish was not a fun class, especially when it is not
as interactive as the classes our children are attending today. Our teachers/professors have
learned a few things since the 80 s. However, I am preparing for a test and yes, I cheated. I
purposely wrote answers on the top of my note book where it just shows indentations of the
words I needed. Did I get caught?, YES! Mr. Sterner pulled me aside after class and directly
asked if I did. I wasn t going to lie, but flat out told him that I did not feel confident or prepared
for this exam. I knew others were cheating, but I was one that got caught and remorse did set in. I
was probably more fearful of my parents finding out than anything else. Yikes! Looking back, I
would have a

A Letter About A Smile From Aural Orifice, Curling And...
A smile from aural orifice to aural orifice, curling and bright. It s a strange thing to write a letter
that will probably never be read, or will be read by others. An openness in something generally
private, no less strange or cumbersome than writing a letter to someone you don t know but
think you might like to though. How best to form and shape those ideas, herd them into some
form of coherency and clarity? To start you already have a letter from me, with an iPod in it.
Black envelope, gold lettering, gave it to you at the PA Wizard World. This is take two of things
that won t get read :) whatevs! Carpe Noctem and all that. It s just obnoxiously frustrating to see
someone you d love to have a conversation with, and not even have the chance to risk it and fail
spectacularly. Or unspectacularly, or perhaps not fail at all. Though to be honest the idea of
seeing how the conversational trains crash and sifting through the wreckage to find interesting
bits and bobs would be fun. But I m rotten through and through anyways, so that s no surprise.
Explaining why I want to converse with you might be hardest, besides saying I like the way you
string things together. It sounds fun, or at least memorably fucking awkward, to see if our trains
of thought share any of the same stations. It s not like I can invite you for a beer or a coffee, sans
all too often assumed subtext, to shoot the shit to test for conversational compatibility. You re a

Wicked Vs Oz Compare And Contrast
Wizard of Oz vs. Wicked
The Wizard of Oz and Wicked are two famous books that were turned into movies and plays. At
first glance, these two works look very similar since they both revolve around a main character that
happens to be a witch. Even though the two storylines are entwined, there are still many contrasting
points that make the two unique. Many similarities and differences can be found between wizards,
the plot, and the main characters of the Wizard of Oz and Wicked.
The Wizard of Oz was written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, 95 years before Wicked was published.
The plot revolves around Dorothy and her dog, Toto, as they make their way through the land of Oz.
The story starts out in her home state of Kansas, where she is riding her bike, when a ... Show more

Comparing Schizophrenia In A Beautiful Mind And The Soloist
Psychological disorder is a condition characterized by abnormal feelings, behaviors, and thoughts.
For my application paper I chose two movies, one is about John Forbs Nash Junior, and another
one is about Nathaniel Antony Ayers Junior. As you might have already guessed the movies are
called A Beautiful Mind, and The Soloist . In A Beautiful Mind Russell Crowe portrays one of the
most famous mathematicians of the 20th century John Nash, who attended Princeton University on
Carnegie scholarship. Schizophreniais a psychological disorder that affects emotion, perception,
behavior and thought. Unlike identity disorder, schizophrenia does not involve a split personality. It

During his delusional periods, he saw an imaginary roommate, named Charles. Nash s delusions
possessed complex character of their own. Charles, his roommate, had a niece named Marcie.
An official from Department of Defense, William Parcher, was also an imaginary figure.
Parcher assigned John to look for patterns in newspapers, and magazines, in order to prevent an
invasion of Soviets. Negative feelings also played a big role in Nash s life. His delusions were
triggered by negative emotions. In order to treat Nash doctors administered insulin shock
therapies. His release was based on condition that he was willing to take antipsychotic drug.
However, medication had negative affect on his academic and family life. Due to this he stopped
the course of taking the medicine and in return his condition became much worse. Nash was not
able to avoid his delusions, and they continued to haunt him. I think the movie s goal was to
entertain, not to enlighten. It does a good job in illustrating the concept of schizophrenia and shows
the crucial importance of taking medications in order to ease the pain and get a sharper

Adversity In The Crucible
It can occur in any form, slightly stressful or devastating painful. It can happen to anyone, rich,
poor, big or small. Adversity is inevitable. Most people would consider it very negative with no
benefits, but they are not aware of its hidden effect. Roman poet Horace suggests that adversity can
cause a person to demonstrate certain talents, which would not have been present if not for their
misfortune. People and characters in any literary work experience unfortunate events and put
through difficult situations that they need to overcome. Adversity uncovers their concealed gifts
that help them through their hardships. Under its effect, it also can alter the process in developing
a character and transform them into someone completely different.... Show more content on

Summary Of Green Eggs And Ham
Throughout his political career, Ted Cruz has had his ups and downs. I believe that because he
is labeled as very conservative and religious, the very slightest stray away from these values
results in public uproar. In 2013, Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham during the 21 hour filibuster
on the Senate Floor. It s ironic that he chose this story to read as a method to debase the
Affordable Care Act. The story Green Eggs and Ham follows a character that is certain that he
doesn t like green eggs and ham. Nevertheless, this character has never tried it. At the end of the
story, the character discovers that he actually like green eggs and ham. The moral of the story is
that it s important to try new things and be open to new ideas and suggestions.

To Serve God And Wal-Mart Analysis
In Bethany Moreton s book To Serve God and Wal Mart: The Making of Christian Free
Enterprise, dutiful employees of Wal Mart praise the comfortable, familial, and friendly
atmosphere at work. These attitudes are no accidental, however: Moreton asserts that Wal Mart
utilized gendered notions in order to structure a new sexual hierarchy onto the workplace. Wal
Mart s successful exploitation of business techniques such as altering the perception of women s
work in the home versus at work, reinforcing masculinities through normalized displays and
gendered spectacles, and asking for personal sacrifice from workers for the good of the family (and
thus the business) along genderlines all compounded to adjust and confirm notions of gender, race,

Indeed, service labor was often viewed as women s work , which directly challenged the authority
and the masculinity of men. With women flooding the service sector, the meekness of Jesus and
Christianity did not fit in with ideals of masculinity, independence, and power and thus posed an
ethical problem. In order to subvert this, a new trend of servant leadership began, with men acting
as transitory and moving managers, and women acting as long term low wage workers. Instead of
focusing upon the managers labor, the focus was placed squarely upon the natural prerogatives of
men as men, not as managers , reinforcing a hegemonic and sexual chain of command promoting
the masculinity, autonomy, and skill of men. Subsequently, these men became symbolic heads of
house, effectively owning the labor of their employees. In this way, the man could remain the
master of his small world , effectively translating his dominion of influence from the household to
the aisles of Wal Mart. Furthermore, Moreton states that prominent philosophy must explain how
the authority of men has increased with service sector work in order to contain the threat posed by
the effeminate , the androgynous , and sissified men. For instance, a female clerk might impend the
masculinity of men, conversely, a female clerk working deferentially

CAPACITY PLANNING
Capacity planning:
Capacity planning is the process of determining the production capacity needed by an organization
to meet changing demands for its products.[1] In the context of capacity planning, design capacity
is the maximum amount of work that an organization is capable of completing in a given period,
effective capacity is the maximum amount of work that an organization is capable of completing in
a given period due to constraints such as quality problems, delays, material handling, etc. The
phrase is also used in business computing as a synonym for Capacity Management.

#4: Share plans with suppliers
If you plan to use your capacity planning products across multiple platforms, it is important to
inform your software suppliers of your plans. During these discussions, make sure that add on
expenses the costs for drivers, agents, installation time and labor, copies of licenses, updated
maintenance agreements, and the like are all identified and agreed upon up front. Reductions in the
costs for license renewals and maintenance agreements can often be negotiated based on all of the
other additional expenses.
#5: Anticipate nonlinear cost ratios
One of my esteemed college professors was fond of saying that indeed we live in a nonlinear
world. This is certainly the case when it comes to capacity upgrades. Some upgrades will be
linear in the sense that doubling the amount of a planned increase in processors, memory,
channels, or disk volumes will double the cost of the upgrade. But if the upgrade approaches the
maximum number of cards, chips, or slots that a device can hold, a relatively modest increase in
capacity may end up costing an immodest amount for additional hardware. This is sometimes
referred to as the knee of the curve, where the previous linear relationship between cost and capacity

Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy Essay
The poem, Barbie Doll, written by Marge Piercy tells the story of a young girl growing up
through the adolescence stage characterized by appearances and barbarity. The author uses
imagery and fluctuating tone to describe the struggles the girl is experiencing during her teenage
years, and the affects that can happen. The title of this poem is a good description of how most
societies expect others, especially girls to look. Constantly, people are mocked for their
appearance and expected to represent a barbie doll like figure. Few are blessed with this
description. The femalegender is positioned into the stereotype that women should be thin and
beautiful. With this girl, the effects were detrimental. The first stanza describes the... Show more

It s ironic that this particular word is used because puberty is actually a stage of emotional crisis .
A hurtful remark was made towards the child, and she was described as having a big nose and fat
legs. The second stanza also begins with the subdued tone mentioning the girls positive aspects,
such as being healthy...intelligent...strong. These specific details are usually related to the male.
Once again, the gender characteristics play as an underlying factor. These qualities were not good
enough for a woman if they were not beautiful. The stanza then takes a turn like the first turning
away from the simplicity. The girl went to and fro apologizing, while everyone still saw a fat
nose on thick legs. Society places women into the mold where they begin to put on a facade and
apologize for their misfortunes. In the third stanza, the girl was advised to play coy...(and)
smile. Women are once again pressured to act in a way that is unreal, like a barbie doll. The fan
belt mention in this stanza is used as imagery to describe how one s facade can wear out over
time, as hers did. She cut off her nose and her legs, in response to this. The character Nora in A
Doll s House, is a perfect example of how women are like dolls and do what they are told or what
society expects of them. It is only in the last stanza where the girl is dead and has consummation at
last. She is finally given a compliment when someone said,

Literature Review On Impression Management
1. Literature Review
For the purpose of this review, the following section has been broken down into the following three
areas:
1.1What are the origins of impression management?
1.2How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
1.3Why is impression management used as a means of corporate communication?
Each area will look to assimilate the key items of literature from relevant and appropriate sources
surrounding the fundamental theories and practices of impression management. In doing so, this
review will form the required basis to critically evaluate both the use of impression management in
the context of the 2016 EU Referendum as well as the overall ethicality of the practice.
1.1 What are the origins of impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management
stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of
impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars
and organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned
several other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy,
signalling, agency, institutional and stakeholder theories.
Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of
manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this
manipulation itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a
useful methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly
volatility .
1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
Having confirmed the origins of impression management, it is reasonable to say that the theory can
be applied as a tool which aids in the manipulation and interpretation of all the data types contained
within the communicative medium of a corporate report. Furthermore, we can deduce

Thesis Statement On Gun Control
Over the course of the fall semester, I intend to develop a strong, yet demanding, argument that
supports my ideas and efforts to make a long lasting affect on the residents living in Saint Louis.
My advocacy project consists of informing the Saint Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, on issues
pertaining to gun control in the St.Louis metro area and eventually persuade her to look into
designing more efficient background checking systems for individuals wanting to bear arms.
I have been living in the Saint Louis area for seventeen years, and I have witnessed the
consequences caused by the loose regulation of guns. Many guns, including military grade
weapons, have been circulating into the wrong hands of individuals in the region. Because of this,
the crime rate in the Saint Louis area has been on the rise as well. As a St.Louis resident, I am
often informed of the harsh results related to gun violence; News stations throughout the region
report the jarring records of deaths and other injuries related to firearms. As months progress, I
started to realize that my city was making a turn for the worst. Gun control, being a relevant social
issue in St.Louis, was affecting not just the victims, but the families, friends, and the overall
communities. I started to ponder why my hometown was having such a massive issue over guns.
Although I have not been personally affected by gun violence, I do not want to become a bystander
to these casualties.Rather, I desire to improve this issue

Scorpius And Orion Research Paper
I have chosen the constellation Orion also known as the Hunter. I chose this constellation because
it means to me that no one is forgotten, there is no oblivion even for those who deserve it. Orion
is visible everywhere in the world as it sits on the celestial equator. It is very recognisable in the
sky and all its stars are quite bright which means it is a very prominent constellation.
The constellation of Orion has an interesting back story based on the hunter of the same namesake

The Young Heroine In A White Heron By Sarah Orne Jewett
The Young Heroine
Countless stories of heroes and heroines have all followed the same cycle from beginning to end
of a hero s life. The cycle starts from a certain event affecting the hero s life leading them on a
quest that is typically filled with some form of adventure. The hero is equipped for the quest with a
type of power or aid from the supernatural to help them face trials to further prove themselves. Once
the hero completes the quest, they experience either physical or metaphorical death and are
rewarded greatly. According to Griffith, A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett fits the hero
archetype from the main character being sent on a quest full of trials to the reward of the quest s
completion.
In the story, A White Heron, the reader is introduced to the main character, Sylvia. Her quest
begins when she meets a man who is lost within the nearby forest and is in need of a place to stay
for the night. Sylvia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

she faces the trials. For example, throughout the story, Sylvia battles with the decision of whether
to provide the hunter the location of the white heron or not. She faces many temptations of her
desire to impress the hunter and to also gain his reward of ten dollars. Griffith also describes in
his analysis how Sylvia faces a trial when she climbs the pine tree to find the white heron s nest.
The journey is described as difficult in the beginning, but nature is impressed by her determination
and allows her an easier passage. Once Sylvia reaches the white heron s nest, she is face with a life

Fame And Fortune By Horatio Alger Summary
After reading the first couple of chapters of Horatio Alger s novel Fame and Fortune or, The
Progress of Richard Hunter, I saw a lot of issues in relation to work. The one that stood out the
most, was the issue of education. The amount of education a person has should not define who
they are as a person, or have restriction on the kind of work they can or cannot do.
The book takes place in a time period were educations defines who you are as a person. If a person
has little education or no education at all they are looked down on, but if a person went to school
and was fully educated, they are not looked down on. People look up to them, and they start to
develop this scene of respect and admiration towards them. The main character in Horatio

New People Theme Of Identity
In her latest novel, Danzy Senna dives deep into the territory of love, race, identity, heritage, and
privilege, revealing the harsh reality of growing up in America with two different ethnicities.
Danzy Senna s New People defines the social complexities of having and understanding a full
identity of one s own and what it means to pass as one raceor another through it s conflicted and
anti heroine of a character and discouraging setting.
Maria s struggle with identity is foremost throughout the novel. Her appearance is misleading
from her actual ethnicity, which she has trouble coming to terms with. This theme accentuates
the idea that people base judgments off of looks rather than the truth. This can build the question
of who can pass for what? . It gives Maria the chance to assimilate with white culture while not
actually being white. It s no question that she feels like a stranger in her own home, an alien in
her own body due to the confusion of not knowing who she really is.. It s also clear she feels the
need to gain social acceptance, but she doesn t know how the people want her to be to obtain it.

Medieval Towns Were Surrounded By Moats
Medieval towns were surrounded by moats, which were built by digging a large ring around the
town and then filling it with water, most likely the water would come from rivers. Next to the
moat was the town walls, the walls were built with stone or brick and was the main defense for
the town going side by side with the moat. In between the walls there were towers, these were
used to see out across the land, and was mainly used as a vantage point. To enter the town, you
would have to approach the main gates and had to be let in by the guards of the town. Now
moving into the inside of the town. Towns are usually built around a castleor monastery, making it
the center of town where most of the trade happened. Roads were very narrow, and there was not
a lot of space for the population of the town to move around. Using a generic layout of a town,
the main roads went from the west wall to the east wall, and the north wall the the south wall,
each side of the wall had a gate entrance, where the roads meet is where the castle or monastery
was most likely going to be. Most of the buildings in the town were residential homes for the
population and houses varied depending on the rank of the resident. People on the higher rank,
aristocrats or land owners, could afford more expensive and appealing homes, while middle class
(usually clerics or traders) and peasants would live in plain buildings that were usually a couple
stories high, so that more people could live collectively in a

Illiteracy Essay
With the ease of the access of the internet, there is a boom of illiteracy, not just illiteracy in
reading and writing, but also the way that the way that we interact with each other, such as being
emotionally illiterate. Illiteracy is the quality or state of being illiterate; the inability to read or
write. Additionally, being illiterate is showing or being marked by a lack of familiarity with a
certain subject, such as languages.
Illiterate adults experience poorer health outcomes, less financial security, and lower life
expectancies compared to the overall population. Illiteracy has long been recognized that illiteracy
is an intergenerational trend that is passed on from parent to child. It imposes a considerable
burden on the family or support system of the individual in question, as illiterate adults are highly
dependent on others to function and survive. Family members often must do the grocery shopping,
pay the bills, fill out forms and documents, and manage the financial affairs of illiterate. Children s
parents who did not complete school or have trouble with literacy skills are more likely to be
illiterate themselves and are more than five times as likely to drop out of high school as other
children. Illiteracy affects society at large through the financial burden that imposes lost
productivity and increased taxes for welfare programs, prisons, and crime prevention programs.
There is a link between literacy levels and incarceration. Studies have found that seven

The Lady s Dressing Room
In Jonathan Swift s poem, The Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is mostly
endorsed. In Lady Mary Wortley Montagu s response poem to Swift, The Reasons that Induced
Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is
critiqued. The endorsement and critique is seen in the aesthetics of the poem (rhyme scheme,
alliteration, and diction), how knowledge is presented or acquired, and how knowledge is used.
Jonathan Swift s poem endorses knowledge through experience by taking Strephon into the female
space in order to discover and report his experience in the female dressing room to his audience.

However, the nursery rhyme feelings is still conveyed, which gives off an air of learning. Wortley
Montagu, in creating her pre history, creates a story that conveys the observation in an omniscient
narrator. Wortley Montagu describes the doctor in a way that she is looking in on the situation and
observing. As the poem continues, wit is clearly critiqued. Even though the doctor is learned, his
prestige or knowledge does not allow him to enter into the female space. For example, Wortley
Montagu writes that doctor had joked and punned, and swore and writ/ tried all his gallantry and
Wit/...Could not move this dull hearted Creature (9 14). The doctor only receives access to the
female space through the maid. Even though the doctor is intelligent, the prostitute is able to outwit
the doctor by locking the money up. Wortley Montagu describes the situation best, With Learning
Mad, with wisdom blind (36). Even within Wortley Montagu is a strong critique of the learning
through observation that Swift praises. Wortley Montagu describes Swift s experience and
knowledge as pointless (46). Wortley Montagu shares the certain knowledge is unnecessary. She
also critiques that the reason that knowledge is being acquired needs to be examined as well to
deem the knowledge valuable. Wortley Montagu is critical of the knowledge that is being produced
in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She calls to question the necessity of the information

Eugenics Negatives
The goal of eugenics is to racially cleanse and create a population with pure blood excluding the
tainted blood of the unfit. Eugenics according to Calum MacKellar and Christopher Betchel, is a
general enhancement of humanity. Dorthy Porter in Darwinian Disease Archaeology states,
Eugenics is the study of human hereditary in order to manipulate human breeding to influence
evolutionary progress. Although there are advantages to eugenics, there are numerous more
negatives. Eugenics can not only cause a whole race to be destroyed but can also cause innocent
lives to be killed because they were not worth living. This has created world wide debates.
Eugenics can be used to make a perfect society; however, eugenics can lead to social
discrimination, less diversity, and more disappointments in children. Although proponents of
eugenics believe it can create a more fit society, it can lead to major inequalities. As explained by
MacKellar and Betchel, Eugenic practices might also result in a widened definition of disability
and discrimination against the disabled. Eugenics can give parents an opportunity to test if their
child will have a specific genetic disease. This can lead to parents either aborting the embryo or
fetus and sometimes infanticide. By doing this Dorthy Porter, the author of Darwinian Disease
Archaeology states, [it is] freeing humanity of deviant DNA. Parents are doing this, as George who
wrote Ethics, Politics, and Genetic Knowledge puts it, for the

Key Metrics And Key Performance Indicators
As data becomes abundant in today s world, it is too difficult to track every single metric on a
daily or weekly basis. Therefore, the best approach to provide insights and locate certain
pertinent bits of data is to use a dashboard. The dashboard serves to show all of the key metrics
you would like to track and their changes since the last review all in one place. Dashboards
should be simple and easy to read in seconds. Dashboards that display the best metrics and key
performance indicators in the best manner should serve to drive actions and decisions. (Kaushik
2010.)
However, dashboards can often be created ineffectively for a number of reasons. There are no
hard and fast rules when it comes to creating the dashboard as the metrics to track vary by
industry, company, and even division within companies. Kaushik in his first book on analytics
provides a number of guidelines to follow in order to create a dashboard that is effective and easily
understood. (Kaushik 2010.)
The first guideline is to always to use benchmarks to compare against your reported numbers. A
number without context is just a number. It doesn t provide the analyst with any insight because
they do not know if this is high, low, average, typical of the industry, a new high, etc. Benchmarks
can be used to provide context to these numbers, whether created to demonstrate the number against
the company s previous numbers or against the industries numbers or even both. (Kaushik 2010.)
The second guideline

vital aspect to sales. Topshop have to continuously research the customers desires and progress their
products to best suit their needs throughout the future. Topshops organisation have to monitor five
different key markets to adapt their products and services for the consumers. Topshop have to study:
Consumer markets, resellers, corporate markets, administration markets and worldwide markets. As
the consumers needs and wants are changing endlessly, the demand for Topshops research and

Suppliers
Topshops performance is evidently heavily impacted by the actions of the suppliers, whether this
is a strength or weakness for the company. The organisation has to repeatedly monitor the actions
of the suppliers, thus will enable them to be prepared for any surprises coming their way.
Topshops suppliers have an effect on their actions as, for example, if the supplier delivers a
reduced facility to the company, the delivery to the stores would be increased and the product
quality could be decreased. Topshop have to ensure a strong relationship bond with the suppliers to

The initial change of servitude to master is all due to the cunning that is expressed commonly by
the trickster character. Tranio the mentor to Lucentio offers advice encouraging his courtship with

Ancient Egyptians and The Greeks. From these civilizations we have what weightlifting is today.
These civilizations used weightlifting in several different ways. The Chinese would have recruits
do tests of strength to prove that they could prove themselves useful on the battlefield. One of the
main tests was a 400 lb. stone that the recruits had to lift off of the ground in order to be accepted
into their military ranks.(Basictraining.us) The Egyptians had many sports and activities that they
would do that included Archery, Swimming, chariot racing. They would use bags to put sand in
to lift over their head. The Egyptians use those sand bags to lift over their heads to build strength.
There was no way of knowing how heavy those sand bags where but from some research the said
they heaviest they could have gotten was me 95 lb. just for the fact of the sack not being able to
support the weight of the sand. (Basictraining.us) Mesoptamia Artwork left behind by the

Norm Violation Essay
I believe what Garfinkel means in background assumptions is how we commonly go throughout
the day and the order we do things in. In my norm violation I am going to not follow the order
my culture eats dinner in. The norm violation I decided to do is ordering dessert first at a
restaurant. This is a norm violation because you are suppose to order your appetizer first, then
your entree and lastly your dessert. I decided that Fender s Diner would be an excellent place to
do my experiment. I dine here a good bit and usually order their salads so this will be different
for me. Fenders Diner is a locally owned restaurant known for its 1950 s Rock n Roll American
theme. On a Sunday after church lets out is when I decided to do to do my ethnomethodology
experiment. I also brought my sister who is known for her sweet tooth. As we sit down at our
table our slightly overweight waiter immediately greets us. We order chocolate milkshakes and
our waiter smiles and says, Wait! No lemon water this time? This is the first reaction we
received. It made me feel a little nervous because if he is already reacting to our drinks, how is
he going to react to the rest of the dinner. After we receive our milkshakes we ordered our ice
cream brownie delux. Our waiter laughs and asks if that would be all. I explain to him that we
would still like an entree but that we want our dessert first. We then order a burger and some fries.
He then warns us that we may start looking like him if we keep this up this diet. This made me
uncomfortable because I was unsure how to respond... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 3. Christian Mission Book Review Essay Christian Mission Book Review Part two begins with David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary, and a professional doctor. He was very interested in exploration and his main goal was to stop Portuguese and Arab slave trade, he believed in human self worth. He got his men and his supplies and started his voyage to Africa to map Africa, he was successful at mapping most of Zambezi. Livingstone was accused of not being a real missionaryand he was too political but he always made sure he was working with God in mind. Livingstone died at the age of 60 in 1873 defending the African s freedom. His people cut out his heart and buried it, the rest of his body was mummified and taken to Westminster Abbey to be buried, as he wished. A statue was built in his honor with the base reading, Missionary, Explorer, Liberator . Livingstone is one example of how much political and economic power a Christian missionary can have. He also encouraged the work of the Jesuits in China. The western power and missionaries have created bad names for the social/cultural changes or for being connected with colonialism, imperialism, westernity, and modernity mostly by the missionaries. Some say that Christianityhas challenged or strengthened the local power. Scientific racism first came up in the 1850s Joseph Arthur de Gobineu s book called Essi sur l inegalite des races humanines. He believed that the African and Asian people could be a part of the Christian religionor culture because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Futurist Religion It was Ali Muhammad As Sallaabee who posed on his book The Noble life of a prophet that a prophet is someone called by God and filled with God s Spirit, a prophet spoke God s word to people who had in one way or another distanced themselves from God. The prophet has for its task not only to deliver the message from God to the people but also to predict the future. For the bible informs us that surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets. Instead, prophecy is to be regarded as purely a symbolic form of instruction regarding eternal truths about good and evil. Most idealists are preterists. This suggests that the fulfillment of all prophecies is of the past. 3)HISTORICISM: This system of interpretation is also known as the Protestant system because it was cherished during the time surrounding the Reformation. It emphasizes the fact that prophecy has continuity as its chief characteristic and that therefore the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are to interpreted as signifying events commencing at the time of the prophecy but surveying all centuries until the end of time. It is important for one to know, despite of the many schools of thought that may differ in their interpretation. God has already made his message clear to us by the ministry of his prophets. Ellen G. White, in her writings brings back to our memory that prophecy has its fulfilment in the past, present and future. Some prophecies are already fulfilled, some are fulfilling in these actual days while some are for the future. Therefore she says in her book Child Guidance that we cannot afford to live with no reference to the Day of Judgment; for though long delayed, it is now near, even at the door, and hasteth greatly. Devil Wears Prada Essay Quotes Devil Wears Prada Devil Wears Prada is a story of a protagonist, Andrea Sachs and her occupational journey of trying to balance her profession and her social life. Andrea or known as Andy, has graduated and is hoping for a job as a journalist. Despite her dreams of becoming a journalist she receives a job at a fashion magazine known as Runway magazine as an assistant for Miranda Priestly. Throughout the movie, Andy had to balance her social life and her career pursuit where Miranda had given her many problematic tasks that Andy had to complete. In the workplace, there will be a wide variety of instances where you will work hard to complete a task, without receiving any recognition. Three instances where Andy completed a difficult task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The task of attaining the manuscript was the breaking point of Andy s workplace, however as she received the manuscript Andy felt relieved. After getting the manuscript, Miranda was astonished and started to show Andy respect. After the completion of this task, Andy had responded in a respectful manner as she answered Miranda s questions about the manuscript. This was quite humble of Andy as she achieved an impossible task and still spoke to Miranda in a kind demeanor. If I was in Andy s shoes I would not do things differently as Miranda is her boss and is willing to fire Andy. Considering this, I would respond to Miranda in the same way Andy did as her job is on stake. It is evident that this task was difficult and a burden for Andy. Another instance where Andy had to complete a difficult task was memorizing a protracted list of names for the fashion extravaganza. They had to tell the names of the guests to Miranda as they approached her. This task was difficult as she had to memorize all these names by midnight. In one instance, Andy saved Emily as she forgot the name of one of the guests and Andy whispered the name into Miranda s ear. Miranda s reaction of this was slightly thankful however mostly neutral. Emily had a different reaction and was impressed at Andy s work. Andy responded with a slight nudge and smiled as Emily thanked her. • 6. How The Media Is The Issue Of The 21st Century 1. The relationship of money to Free Speech is the issue of the 21st century. (Bill Moyers in Freedom of Speech for Sale). a) In the light of this quotation, explain both the advantages and dangers of media ownership concentrated in only a few mega corporations. Refer to specific readings/viewings to back up your thoughts. b) According to Robert McChesney ( Corporate Media the Threat to Democracy ), and the movie Free Speech for Sale, why is such a concentration of corporate ownership a threat to democracy ? (Hint: begin by defining democracy. ) c) Include in your discussion both what the function of the media should be in a democracy, and what the function of the media is in danger of becoming under the current system. Use specific examples from the readings and the viewings. The issue in the 21st century is the fact that corporations are the hand that guides the media and the government. When Viacom, Disney, and other large companies are also paying for the lobbying for the politicians, it is no longer a democracy for the people, by the people, but a corporatocracy. This is a term used to refer to an economic and political system under control by corporations and/or corporate interests. Only the people with deep pockets use their access to the media to overwhelm the general public. Such as The Telecom Act of 1996 tried to break up television monopolies but Title 3 Cable Services , which allowed for media cross ownership just basically canceled out the main idea ... • 7. The Goals Of Love And Romantic Relationships In a disquieting chapter on Love and Romantic Relationships, Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini (2015) list the goals of love and romantic relationships as 1) obtaining sexual gratification , 2) establishing a family bond , and 3) gaining resources and social status (p. 246). The authors use the unconventional (p. 273) relationship of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo as a positive (p. 273) example of a love relationship. Numerous questions and philosophical issues may be raised by the authors perspective. One of which is that the goals listed above seem to be self focused. Are love and romantic relationships truly about having one s own needs met? Questions like this can best be answered by understanding the difference between selfishness, selflessness, and altruism. In a PowerPoint presentation (2010), Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini define pure altruism as, behavior that benefits another intentionally for no external or internal reward (slide 66). Neel Burton M.D. (2016) further clarifies, An act should not be written off as selfish or self motivated simply because it includes some inevitable element of self interest [or reward]. The act can still be counted as altruistic if the selfish element is accidental; or, if not accidental, then secondary; or, if neither accidental nor secondary, then undetermining... • 8. Cheating Is A Hot Topic Cheating Introduction Cheating is a hot topic these days. There is much pressure on a student or child to perform well in class. Not only does the pressure build academically, but physically on the sports field. As parents, are we encouraging this behavior because we want our student to do well and achieve the end goal of being recognized or to receive a scholarship? I see it happening and depending on who the child/parent is, I might say something, because the end result could result horribly. I can remember a time, and I am dating myself here, back in high school, I remember it distinctly. I was a sophomore at Portage Northern High School. I was sitting in Mr. Sterner s Spanish class and we are about to take a test. Let me advice, Spanish was not a fun class, especially when it is not as interactive as the classes our children are attending today. Our teachers/professors have learned a few things since the 80 s. However, I am preparing for a test and yes, I cheated. I purposely wrote answers on the top of my note book where it just shows indentations of the words I needed. Did I get caught?, YES! Mr. Sterner pulled me aside after class and directly asked if I did. I wasn t going to lie, but flat out told him that I did not feel confident or prepared for this exam. I knew others were cheating, but I was one that got caught and remorse did set in. I was probably more fearful of my parents finding out than anything else. Yikes! Looking back, I would have a ... • 9. A Letter About A Smile From Aural Orifice, Curling And... A smile from aural orifice to aural orifice, curling and bright. It s a strange thing to write a letter that will probably never be read, or will be read by others. An openness in something generally private, no less strange or cumbersome than writing a letter to someone you don t know but think you might like to though. How best to form and shape those ideas, herd them into some form of coherency and clarity? To start you already have a letter from me, with an iPod in it. Black envelope, gold lettering, gave it to you at the PA Wizard World. This is take two of things that won t get read :) whatevs! Carpe Noctem and all that. It s just obnoxiously frustrating to see someone you d love to have a conversation with, and not even have the chance to risk it and fail spectacularly. Or unspectacularly, or perhaps not fail at all. Though to be honest the idea of seeing how the conversational trains crash and sifting through the wreckage to find interesting bits and bobs would be fun. But I m rotten through and through anyways, so that s no surprise. Explaining why I want to converse with you might be hardest, besides saying I like the way you string things together. It sounds fun, or at least memorably fucking awkward, to see if our trains of thought share any of the same stations. It s not like I can invite you for a beer or a coffee, sans all too often assumed subtext, to shoot the shit to test for conversational compatibility. You re a person like ... • 11. Comparing Schizophrenia In A Beautiful Mind And The Soloist Psychological disorder is a condition characterized by abnormal feelings, behaviors, and thoughts. For my application paper I chose two movies, one is about John Forbs Nash Junior, and another one is about Nathaniel Antony Ayers Junior. As you might have already guessed the movies are called A Beautiful Mind, and The Soloist . • 14. To Serve God And Wal-Mart Analysis In Bethany Moreton s book To Serve God and Wal Mart: The Making of Christian Free Enterprise, dutiful employees of Wal Mart praise the comfortable, familial, and friendly atmosphere at work. These attitudes are no accidental, however: Moreton asserts that Wal Mart utilized gendered notions in order to structure a new sexual hierarchy onto the workplace. Wal Mart s successful exploitation of business techniques such as altering the perception of women s work in the home versus at work, reinforcing masculinities through normalized displays and gendered spectacles, and asking for personal sacrifice from workers for the good of the family (and thus the business) along genderlines all compounded to adjust and confirm notions of gender, race, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, service labor was often viewed as women s work , which directly challenged the authority and the masculinity of men. With women flooding the service sector, the meekness of Jesus and Christianity did not fit in with ideals of masculinity, independence, and power and thus posed an ethical problem. In order to subvert this, a new trend of servant leadership began, with men acting as transitory and moving managers, and women acting as long term low wage workers. Instead of focusing upon the managers labor, the focus was placed squarely upon the natural prerogatives of men as men, not as managers , reinforcing a hegemonic and sexual chain of command promoting the masculinity, autonomy, and skill of men. Subsequently, these men became symbolic heads of house, effectively owning the labor of their employees. In this way, the man could remain the master of his small world , effectively translating his dominion of influence from the household to the aisles of Wal Mart. Furthermore, Moreton states that prominent philosophy must explain how the authority of men has increased with service sector work in order to contain the threat posed by the effeminate , the androgynous , and sissified men. Reductions in the costs for license renewals and maintenance agreements can often be negotiated based on all of the other additional expenses. #5: Anticipate nonlinear cost ratios One of my esteemed college professors was fond of saying that indeed we live in a nonlinear world. This is certainly the case when it comes to capacity upgrades. Some upgrades will be linear in the sense that doubling the amount of a planned increase in processors, memory, channels, or disk volumes will double the cost of the upgrade. But if the upgrade approaches the maximum number of cards, chips, or slots that a device can hold, a relatively modest increase in capacity may end up costing an immodest amount for additional hardware. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy Essay The poem, Barbie Doll, written by Marge Piercy tells the story of a young girl growing up through the adolescence stage characterized by appearances and barbarity. The author uses imagery and fluctuating tone to describe the struggles the girl is experiencing during her teenage years, and the affects that can happen. The title of this poem is a good description of how most societies expect others, especially girls to look. Once again, the gender characteristics play as an underlying factor. These qualities were not good enough for a woman if they were not beautiful. The stanza then takes a turn like the first turning away from the simplicity. The girl went to and fro apologizing, while everyone still saw a fat nose on thick legs. Society places women into the mold where they begin to put on a facade and apologize for their misfortunes. In the third stanza, the girl was advised to play coy...(and) smile. Women are once again pressured to act in a way that is unreal, like a barbie doll. The fan belt mention in this stanza is used as imagery to describe how one s facade can wear out over time, as hers did. She cut off her nose and her legs, in response to this. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars and organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned several other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy, signalling, agency, institutional and stakeholder theories. Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this manipulation itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a useful methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly volatility . 1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting? My advocacy project consists of informing the Saint Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, on issues pertaining to gun control in the St.Louis metro area and eventually persuade her to look into designing more efficient background checking systems for individuals wanting to bear arms. I have been living in the Saint Louis area for seventeen years, and I have witnessed the consequences caused by the loose regulation of guns. Many guns, including military grade weapons, have been circulating into the wrong hands of individuals in the region. Because of this, the crime rate in the Saint Louis area has been on the rise as well. As a St.Louis resident, I am often informed of the harsh results related to gun violence; News stations throughout the region report the jarring records of deaths and other injuries related to firearms. As months progress, I started to realize that my city was making a turn for the worst. Gun control, being a relevant social issue in St.Louis, was affecting not just the victims, but the families, friends, and the overall communities. • 34. The Lady s Dressing Room In Jonathan Swift s poem, The Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is mostly endorsed. In Lady Mary Wortley Montagu s response poem to Swift, The Reasons that Induced Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is critiqued. The endorsement and critique is seen in the aesthetics of the poem (rhyme scheme, alliteration, and diction), how knowledge is presented or acquired, and how knowledge is used. Jonathan Swift s poem endorses knowledge through experience by taking Strephon into the female space in order to discover and report his experience in the female dressing room to his audience. Wortley Montagu, in creating her pre history, creates a story that conveys the observation in an omniscient narrator. Wortley Montagu describes the doctor in a way that she is looking in on the situation and observing. As the poem continues, wit is clearly critiqued. Even though the doctor is learned, his prestige or knowledge does not allow him to enter into the female space. For example, Wortley Montagu writes that doctor had joked and punned, and swore and writ/ tried all his gallantry and Wit/...Could not move this dull hearted Creature (9 14). The doctor only receives access to the female space through the maid. Even though the doctor is intelligent, the prostitute is able to outwit the doctor by locking the money up. Wortley Montagu describes the situation best, With Learning Mad, with wisdom blind (36). Even within Wortley Montagu is a strong critique of the learning through observation that Swift praises. Wortley Montagu describes Swift s experience and knowledge as pointless (46). Wortley Montagu shares the certain knowledge is unnecessary. She also critiques that the reason that knowledge is being acquired needs to be examined as well to deem the knowledge valuable. • 35. Eugenics Negatives The goal of eugenics is to racially cleanse and create a population with pure blood excluding the tainted blood of the unfit. Eugenics according to Calum MacKellar and Christopher Betchel, is a general enhancement of humanity. Dorthy Porter in Darwinian Disease Archaeology states, Eugenics is the study of human hereditary in order to manipulate human breeding to influence evolutionary progress. Although there are advantages to eugenics, there are numerous more negatives. Eugenics can not only cause a whole race to be destroyed but can also cause innocent lives to be killed because they were not worth living. This has created world wide debates. Eugenics can be used to make a perfect society; however, eugenics can lead to social discrimination, less diversity, and more disappointments in children. Although proponents of eugenics believe it can create a more fit society, it can lead to major inequalities. As explained by MacKellar and Betchel, Eugenic practices might also result in a widened definition of disability and discrimination against the disabled. Eugenics can give parents an opportunity to test if their child will have a specific genetic disease. This can lead to parents either aborting the embryo or fetus and sometimes infanticide. By doing this Dorthy Porter, the author of Darwinian Disease Archaeology states, [it is] freeing humanity of deviant DNA. Therefore, the best approach to provide insights and locate certain pertinent bits of data is to use a dashboard. The dashboard serves to show all of the key metrics you would like to track and their changes since the last review all in one place. Dashboards should be simple and easy to read in seconds. Dashboards that display the best metrics and key performance indicators in the best manner should serve to drive actions and decisions. (Kaushik 2010.) However, dashboards can often be created ineffectively for a number of reasons. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to creating the dashboard as the metrics to track vary by industry, company, and even division within companies. Kaushik in his first book on analytics provides a number of guidelines to follow in order to create a dashboard that is effective and easily understood. (Kaushik 2010.) The first guideline is to always to use benchmarks to compare against your reported numbers. A number without context is just a number. It doesn t provide the analyst with any insight because they do not know if this is high, low, average, typical of the industry, a new high, etc. Benchmarks can be used to provide context to these numbers, whether created to demonstrate the number against the company s previous numbers or against the industries numbers or even both. It establishes Petruchio as the hero and states the quest he must fulfill, and it even hints at the threshold guardian of the reward that Petruchio seeks.
