This document discusses social bookmarking, including what it is, how it works, and potential uses in education. Social bookmarking allows users to store, tag, share, and access web links from any internet-connected computer. Users can bookmark web pages, assign tags to help organize and find bookmarks, and make bookmarks public to share with others. Educators can use social bookmarking to support research, learning activities, and collaboration by having students bookmark and annotate resources, create presentations from bookmarks, and connect with others who share similar interests. However, issues with social bookmarking include concerns about interoperability between services and the stability and size of communities.
