Elementary School Bully
From Bullied to Barron
Elementary school was not a fun time for me. I was scrawny, pale, and featured a bowl haircut. (think
Alfalfa, minus the cowlick) If we re being honest, I still am scrawny and pale, but thank goodness I ve
managed to rid myself of the haircut. The other unfortunate thing about Elementary school for me was
that back then, in 2009, Bullying wasn t seen as a serious topic of discussion, schools in general didn t
care about bullying until late 2010, when it caught national media attention. I used to wish that I had
gone to school a few years late just so I wouldn t have to deal with the bullies in my grade. Now, I
look back on what I went through and realize, ironically, how positive an impact it had on my life.
From 3rd grade on, there were people in my class that did not like me, no matter how nice I tried to be
to them. It started out as simple name calling, which hurt a 3rd grade version of me tremendously. It
progressively got worse until the 5th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I graduated middle school the year after that and went on to attend Woodbridge High School. It was
my first complete fresh start since my epiphany, and I looked forward to using it to my advantage.
Soon, I found myself involved in so many things, including becoming the school mascot, The Barron,
a mascot that dons a Tuxedo with a black top and Red bowtie. This had turned out to be my calling. In
the years that followed, I was known by everyone in town simply as The Barron. Locally, I was the
first Barron in the 75 year history of WHS to be awarded a Varsity Letter, with my jacket being
awarded to me for free on behalf of the HS Administration. State wide, I was recognized as the best
HS mascot in the state of New Jersey in the year of 2015 and 16, the first two years they began having
the competition. I now intend to continue to Mascot here at Xavier, as

Essay on The Dream
The Dream
In the early twentieth century, film maker and producer Adolph Zukor met Jesse Lasky, owner of Jesse
L. Lasky Feature Play Company. The two men admired each others previous work and, in 1916,
decided to combine forces. They created Paramount pictures and had one of the most familiar slogans
in the film industry, If it s a Paramount Picture it s the Best Show in Town . Proving their slogan true
they started turning out more than two pictures per week. During it s peak in the silent film making
era, Paramount was making 5 million dollars a year more than other production companies such as
Warner, Fox, and Universal.(Paramount)
Paramount Pictures has come a long way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group has provided households all over the world with the classics and the box office hits, and
even Nickelodeon shows like Blues Clues and Rugrats. Another fun experience Paramount has
provided for their viewers is theme parks. Paramount has theme parks all over the United States,
including a Star Trek theme park in Las Vegas.(Viacom)
Entertainment is not all Paramount has provided for the telecommunications and film industry. Since
the company began, the decisions it has made have influenced others in the industry. Even though they
may not have always been the most profitable movie making company, they have always been
interested in broadening their horizons, and the sky was the limit. Not long after Paramount was
created Zukor decided to maintain his company s supremacy in the industry. He began a theater
buying campaign that amassed single houses and entire circuits... By 1930, the firm s movie house
division had grown to include almost 2,000 units and was named Publix Theaters (Huettig).
Paramount helped establish the neighborhood movie theater, along with providing hundreds of award
winning quality movies to view. Paramount has also contributed to the competitive aspect of the
movie industry, forcing actors and directors to do their best work. Stated by Joseph Youngerman in his
book My Seventy Years at Paramount Studios and the

Fonderia Di Torino S.P.a Essay
Fonderia di Torino, S.p.A
Midterm Individual Case
Fonderia di Torino, S.p.A is a manufacturing company who produces metal castings using six semi
automated molding machines. However, they are currently considering purchasing a Vulcan Mold
Maker machine to replace the six machines currently in place. The firm needs to consider all costs in
deciding whether to keep the current machines or purchase the Vulcan Mold Maker.
Buying the Vulcan machine will result in year 0 outflows of 1.01 million euros, but will enable the
company to sell the old machines which will result in a net year 0 outflow of 880,000 euros. The cash
flows of years 1 8 are summarized in table 1. Factoring in operating, maintenance and power cost,
plus the benefits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the need for higher capacity may in fact be needed if the effects of an improved
product contribute to more market share.
There is a projected inflation rate of 3%. Applying this rate to all costs, minus depreciation, we find
that the effect is a lower NPV and raise the EAC for both decisions. However, purchasing the Vulcan
machine still remains to have the lower EAC. Thus, all other things equal, the purchasing the Vulcan
seems to quantitatively be the better decision. There are also a few other small impacts which are not
factored into the EAC. The Vulcan frees up 15% of floor space and also has a maximum capacity that
is 30% higher than the current machines. In the near future this may be irrelevant because there is no
need for more floor space and the current machines are only operating at 90% capacity as it is, but
these should still be considered added benefits as unforeseeable market conditions over the next eight
years may warrant the need for added capacity.
After considering both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the decision, it would be my
recommendation to purchase the Vulcan machine. All of the data shows that the Vulcan machine will
be less costly and more efficient. What the data does not show however is the critical assumption that
the laborers will be able to be laid off without dispute. If there is conflict from the labor

Haitian Culture Vs American Culture
Strength lies in differences, not in similarities Stephen R Covery. Living in two different countries is
an experience that is likely to open anyone mind. One raised in a smaller country, then moved to a
larger country mixed with multiple culture is an experience not to be taking for granted. Full of
hardships. Yet, despite lacking in the modern luxuries that are readily available in the United States,
they also live a vibrant life full of flavorful food, music, dance, ritual and celebration. There are many
differences in the way Haitians live in Haiti versus in America, including school, work, transportation,
and environment and while not all of these differences are negative, it is obvious that the great

They use the same method of cooking from our Taino descends. In the Haitian culture there s a lot of
variety of food but most of the time they boiled them before consumed. They are using spicy in their
recipe just to make the food last longer because some of the people do not have a refrigerator. While in
Miami, you will find a combination of different food from different nation such as Mexican, Italian,
Chinese, Asian and Jamaican food. We cannot really say that Miami has its own type of food.Haiti
practice all kind of music but the type of music that is known as Haitian music is called konpa . Konpa
is a modern méringue musical genre in Haiti with European and African roots. They also have rap and
other kinds of music and different types of artists .In Miami it s mostly about rap, hip hop and rnb.
Konpa is a more towards the romantic sides of things where as rap is more about wealth and what the

To conclude I ve been blessed to experience two different countries, although it wasn t easy I ve
learned from both, while daily life in America/Miami is much different than in Haiti, there are many
similarities as well. Underneath all of our cultural differences, the same heart still beats. Food must be
eaten, clean water must be drank. Everyone must sleep at night, and wake up to a bright new day.
Spending time with family and friends is at the center of the lives of both Americans and Haitians.
With all of our differences, we are all simply human beings living a life on planet

Public Health Is The Wellbeing Of The General Public
Public health is the wellbeing of the general public. Public health is everything from health promotion
to injury and disease prevention for the betterment of the entire population not just the select few. The
government at federal, state, and local levels generally monitors public health and set rules and
regulations. They have to regulate research to ensure that it is ethical and legal because over the last
hundred years many unethical experiments and trails have been done on at risk populations such as the
Tuskegee Syphilis study. In The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Henrietta is a poor African
American woman raised on a tobacco farm in the south. She died of malignant cervical cancer that

Henrietta had a biopsy done of her cervical cancer when she went to the Johns Hopkins Hospital, one
of the few facilities that would treat African Americans at that time. The doctor, Dr. TeLinde, took two
samples, one cancerous and one normal to compare the two. His colleague Dr. Gey was a recognized
tissue culture researcher who asked for samples of cervical cancer to study, one of the samples
randomly given was Henrietta s. She was treated for her cancer but it wasn t enough, and the cancer
eventually spread through her body and she died. Her cells, that Dr. Gey was given, showed the
amazing ability to regenerate her telomeres, sequences of repeating DNA that are shortened each time
a cell divides acting as a biological clock. Her cells appeared to be immortal and were easily grown
again and again in laboratory conditions in vitro. He gave some of these cells to many other
researchers because he saw their usefulness in their respective fields. Anything from how viruses
replicate to what a drug does to them would benefit from HeLa cells. Biotech companies made a HeLa
(the given name of the cells, Henrietta Lacks) factory to mass produce these cells for profit. They
began shipping the cells to anyone that wanted to purchase them: other researchers, drug companies
and even cosmetic companies that could test them on human cells versus animals. This was a major
advancement for the community and

Essay on Artist Pain Exposed in Kafka s A Hunger Artist
Artist Pain Exposed in Kafka s A Hunger Artist
In A Hunger Artist , Kafka comments on the life of the modern artist through the life of a hunger artist.
Kafka comments that the modern artist is always dissatisfied with his or her art. The modern artist also
is trapped in a harsh and capricious world, in which the artist struggles to maintain his or her audience
by pushing the extreme, but are cheated because they do not receive his or her recognition. Finally, in
A Hunger Artist Kafka refers to the modern artist s struggle between the need for fame and the need
for isolation. As a modern artist, Kafka has experienced the qualities that characterize the modern

In A Hunger Artist the artist joins the circus and wants to astound the world by setting a fasting record.
However, the more the artist fasted the more the crowds ignored him. Critic R.O.C. Winkler suggests
that the crowds ignored the artist because of a corruption in the relationships between humans.iii[iii]
The corruption is seen when a passer by stopped and looked at the old figure on the sign and spoke of
swindling . The comment made by the passer by cheated the hunger artist of his recognition, and
showed the world s inborn malice and indifference . The hunger artist s eroded cage, comprised of
dirty and illegible placards, the pointless sign tracking the days of the fast and dirty straw, further
signified the corruption in the relationship between the hunger artist and the world. During Kafka s
lifetime he saw a shift in his audience s attention and felt alienated by modern society.iv
As the hunger artist sought the crowd s attention he was also trapped in another struggle between his
need for fame and his need for isolation. The struggle is seen when the artist s cage was set up near the
animals in the circus. As people walked to the menagerie they saw the artist and some stayed and
stared and others rushed off to see the animals. Ironically, the artist disliked the people

The Challenges Of Veterans With Disabilities
This research paper will discuss the challenges and opportunities that veterans with disabilities
encounter when transitioning from the Military into the civilian workplace. Currently, there are more
than 6 million veterans in the United States with a disability. A veteran is defined as a person who has
served or is serving in the United States Armed Forces. While reintegrating the veterans back into the
workplace, veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Physical Disabilities will be one
of the greatest challenges that any agency will encounter. This will require that organizations prepare
and implement procedures to make special accommodations to assist the Veteran while following the
federally mandated guidelines. Moreover, this will allow organizations to employee and empower
America s bravest men and women; hiring a veteran brings valuable skills and knowledge into the
workplace. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is defined as a debilitating psychological condition triggered
by a major event such as war, a terrorist act, or a catastrophic event. According to the Department of
Veterans Affairs there are over 2.3 million American Veterans of the Irag and Afghanistan wars, with
at least 20 % of them having a documented case of PTSD. Additionally, it is presumed that about 50%
of the Veterans who actually have PTSD do not seek treatment. Statistics show that of the 61% of men
who experience trauma only 8% actually develop PTSD, versus the 51% of woman who

The Doctor Who Was An Angel
For the last 20 years and counting, I ve concluded she was an angel: the doctor who found me in my
hospital room bleeding to death, in the wee hours after my double mastectomy reconstruction surgery.
She was the shadow standing beside my bed; who shook me and said, You re bleeding internally. You
have to go back to surgery. With the little strength I had left in me, I did all the shadow asked of me.
Like in the operation room when I was too near death to be given anesthesia, I swallowed the tube she
asked me to swallow, like a champ, and without choking on it, one bit.
When it was all over, several days later, and I had regained consciousness, there was a sweet smiling
lady doctor, no longer a shadow, who stood in the midst of my three doctors. Who are you? Where did
you come from? I asked the sweet smiling face behind golden rimmed glasses. From Chicago, she
responded to me, facetiously.
No, I plead. Where did you really come from? Which she did answer, but said, Get some rest. You ve
been through a lot. We ll talk soon. (Fast Forward)
I learned a few days after my surgery that I had lost over half of the blood in my body, and that I
should have died. And had it not have been for this shadow/ this doctor, I would have. But where did
she come from? She was not my doctor. She had no right or reason to come into my hospital room.
But one day she came alone and visited me in my hospital room. And that day she told me the most

The War On Drugs And Drugs Essay
The war on drugs have been a critical issue that has repeatedly held a great debate topic. It was in the
1906 when the first act against drug was put into effect with the Pure Food and Drug Act which
required all over the counter medication to have label of its ingredients. Under President Nixon the
first executive branch office to coordinate drug policy was formed and the Comprehensive Drug
Abuse Prevention and Control Act was put into place. Two years following that the Drug Enforcement
Agency (DEA) was formed. The funding for the war on drugs had greatly increased over the decades
and has reached the record of an annual budget of $17.8 billion which occurred in 1998. Much of the
budget is used to intervene drug flow on the U.S. border and for interdiction according to Cooper s
1993 War on Drugs article. Some people agree that having more man power at the U.S. border will
help eliminate the U.S. drug problem while others argue that even though having more people
working the border increases drug seizures there are still drugs continuing to enter the United States.
These may be the very people that believe in using the budget to provide more educational programs
to the younger generation and having prevention programs will help those that may have become a
drug user if not a addict. The last group of American do not believe either of those programs have
worked in the past and will not work in the future. With those options gone the only thing left to do it

Wet evidence should be air dried to prevent molding. Packages must be sealed with evidence tape, not
staples; someone could cut themselves on the staples and contaminate the evidence (National Institute
of Justice, n.d.). Evidence can be lost be storing it in the wrong materials or exposed to too much light,
heat, or bacteria (Osterburg Ward, 2010). Evidence should only be stored in clean and leak proof
containers and kept in a cool place. Evidence should be delivered to an evidence facility as soon as
possible (Osterburg Ward, 2010). Keeping evidence too long can be harmful for prosecution
(Osterburg Ward, 2010).
Chain of Evidence
According to the National Institute of Justice, the fewer people handling the evidence, the better; there
is less chance of contamination and a shorter chain of custody for court admissibility hearings (n.d.).
The chain of custody of the evidence should include a list of all persons who have had physical
possession of the evidence as well as the time period they carried the evidence, starting with the
responding officer who was in charge up to this point. The evidence should be tracked from the
responding officer s hands or medical examiner, whoever recovers the evidence, to the processing and
examination and preservation, to the presentation in court.
Recording Evidence

Susan B Anthony Accomplishments
Susan B. Anthony, an American women s rights activist is one of the most famous women in
American History. Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts and
passed away March 13, 1906 due to pneumonia and heart failure. She had 8 brothers and sisters.
When her family moved to Battenville, New York, she became homeschooled. She is most famous for
her prominent role in the women s suffrage movement pushing the 19th Amendment that gave women
the right to vote, but she has numerous additional accomplishments including: founding the National
Woman s Suffrage Association (NWSA) in 1869, the International Council of Women in 1888, and the
International Woman Suffrage Council in 1904, publishing The Revolution , wrote the Susan B.
Anthony Amendment in 1878, which became the 19th Amendment to give women the right to vote,
first person to be arrested for illegally voting in a presidential and put on trial for voting, campaigning
for women to learn self reliance and self confidence, the first women to appear on a U.S. coin.

Physical And Emotional Abuse Explored The Color Purple
Both physical and emotional abuse explored The Colour Purple and The Help helps to create
awareness of the central issues. Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female
characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into
the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is
written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she
was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of
her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if
Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to
actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia,
USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and
culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA,
after the uproar of the civil rights movement; she is an English/Creative Writing graduate of the
University of Alabama.

Mississippi, Stockett had a much pampered lifestyle; she had a maid working in her house, cooking,

In: International Laws [Edit categories]
Answer:
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is half a century old, but critics are still asking whether
anything in our multicultural, diverse world can be truly universal.
Some ask, isn t human rights an essentially Western concept, ignoring the very different cultural,
economic and political realities of the South? Can the values of the consumer society be applied to
societies that have nothing to consume? Isn t talking about universal rights rather like saying that the

Culture is too often cited as a defence against human rights by authoritarians who crush culture
domestically when it suits them. In any case, which country can truly claim to be following its
traditional culture in a pure form? None have remained in a pristine state; all have been subject to
change and distortion by external influence, both as a result of colonialism and through participation
in modern inter state relations. You cannot follow the model of a modern nation state cutting across
tribal boundaries and conventions, and then argue that tribal traditions should be applied to judge the
human rights conduct of that modern state.
There is nothing sacrosanct about culture anyway. Culture is constantly evolving in any living society,
responding to both internal and external stimuli, and there is much in every culture that societies quite
naturally outgrow and reject. Are we, as Indians, obliged to defend, in the name of our culture, the
practices of sati or of untouchability? The fact that slavery was acceptable across the world for at least
two thousand years does not make it acceptable to us now.
The basic problem with cultural relativism is that it subsumes all members of a society under a
framework they may prefer to disavow. If dissenters within each culture are free to opt out and to
assert their individual rights for example, Muslim women in my country, India, have the

Cost And Purpose Of Sales Promotion
1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction to sales promotion
Meaning and Purpose of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion consists of all promotional activities other than advertising, personal selling and
publicity that help to increase sales through non repetitive and one time communication. In other
words, it includes marketing activities other than personal selling, advertising, and publicity, that
stimulate consumer purchasing and dealer effectiveness, such as point of purchase displays, shows and
exhibitions, demonstrations and various non recurring selling efforts not in the ordinary routine.
Purpose: The ultimate aim or purpose of sales promotion is that of increasing the volume of sales and
profits but it differs from advertising and personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the greater the geographical dispersion of a target market, the greater the communication
expenditure required. Similarly, if an offering is in its early life cycle, there is a greater need of
expenditure. But promotion budget should always justify the tasks to be undertaken. A basic principle
would be the cost and returns of sales promotion tools to be adopted. Hindustan Lever has its well
drawn up sales promotion budget. If any business house does not have its promotion budget fixed,
then promotion programmes will have to be designed to support the marketing plan.
(vi) Government regulations:
Government has passed various laws and made rules to protect the consumer interest, such as the
prevention of Food Adulteration Act, the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements)
Act, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act etc. Sales promotion policy must take into consideration the
government regulations relating to the particular product, e.g. the commodity rates must be specified
on the package and in case of medicines drug contents and date of manufacturing, date of expire, and
price must be

The Power Of Technology
Technology has become detrimental to society, and the development of our future generations. Anyone
who uses technology in their daily lives should care about how influential technology has developed
overtime. Currently, technology has become more advanced, and accessible to the world. It is
important for society to understand the negative hindrance of technology, because, too many of us rely
on technology to establish our lives. The general public, should limit the use of technology, because it
is making us stupid. Technology, leads to individuals decline in reading skills, it damages our
cognizance skills, and decreases our ability pay attention. The greater the exposure to the Internet the
greater you will decline in literacy skills. In society technology has led to carelessness, and intensifies
poor grammar and spelling. According to Johanna Sorrentino in her, study was thirty three under

With spell check off, students with high verbal SAT scores made an average of five auditing errors and
students with lower SAT scores made an average of 12.3 errors. With spell check on, high scoring SAT
students made on average of sixteen errors , and low scoring students made seventeen errors

It was concluded that the height of the atrium and the fan locations have obvious effect on the efficient
abstraction. Atrium with height more than 30 m with exhaust fans located towards the ends may
require attention to control the smoke abstraction efficiently.
Yi, Hou, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relation between the atrium aspect ratio under different heat
release rate of fire the flooding time flow of smoke occurs and, 32 simulations were performed using a
model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). Table 2.4 shows the size of the atrium and HRR of
steady fire. For the all simulations, (3×3×3) meter fire room was used, the fire was at the center of the
floor of the fire room, and 27 m height atrium. The vents in the fire floor were both (2×1.5) meter with
located at 1 m above the floor with 20 oC ambient temperature.
Figure 2.8 listed the early stage situation of the fire in a floor near to an atrium. The fire floor has 2
vertical vents named WA and WB and there are open to both the atrium and outside. The atrium
ceiling is open, and it is assumed that there is an ideal isolation between the atrium and the adjacent
floors.
At fire early stage, the smoke moves to outside and the atrium, and air from outside and the atrium
moves inside the fire floor at the same time from the 2 vents. Figure 2.8 shows the

How Does Othello Make Unreasonable Decisions Throughout...
Jealousy Throughout the play Othello, there are several scenes that make readers question Othello s
actions. The characterization of Othello from beginning to end presents his questionable judgement.
From his military decisions to his marital decisions, there are instances where Shakespeare uses other
characters to criticize his decisions. Believing Iago and Desdemona s fake affair contributes to the
irrational personality the readers believe he has, leaving them to question why exactly Othello makes
the unreasonable decisions he does. One of the first scenes of the play contains a discussion between
Iago and Roderigo about Othello s choices in who his right hand should be. It is purposefully used by
Shakespeare to begin the characterization of Othello. Without any direct words or scenes involving
Othello, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This triggers especially when someone is presenting obscurity towards you. It is clear to the readers
that Othello has this disorder. The behavior that his wife, Desdemona is portraying is in his eyes
extremely suspicious, even though she is truly doing nothing wrong. This represents what Kingham
and Gordon are referring to when they say irrational thoughts. Othello is jealous of something that is
not even actually happening.
Othello and Desdemona s marriage appears to readers that it is unreasonable and controlled. Most
people inform their family and friends about being engaged and planning a wedding, however, Othello
and Desdemona eloped. Due to all his other decisions, this makes readers infer that this was his
irrational idea. Othello did not even think to forewarn Desdemona s father that they were planning to
get married, he was not even aware that they were engaged. Othello is extremely controlling due to his
morbid jealousy disorder and wanted to be in control of who to tell and when to tell

Unesco Paper- Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System
Charles Darwin was quoted in 1842 describing the Belize Barrier Reef as the most remarkable reef in
the West Indies (Encyclopedia). This description still holds true today. The Belize Barrier Reef
Reserve System, which includes the Belize submarine shelf and its barrier reef is the world s second
largest barrier reef system and the largest reef complex in the Atlantic Caribbean area (Programme wo,
2009). What makes a reef like the Belize Barrier Reef system so special is that coral reefs are the most
diverse of all wetlands and are home to more species than any other marine ecosystem (Wells). Also
the reef system offers more varieties of coral formation than anywhere else in the Caribbean
(Encyclopedia). For people to appreciate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More alarming though is the run off of agrochemicals and sewage pollution (Programme wo, 2009).
Another big aspect of the economy is the fishing industry, which has started to take a toll on certain
species of fish, conchs, and lobsters that live in and around the reef. Two other problems, which have
devastating effects are dredging and sand mining. Dredging and sand mining are choking the corals
that live in the reef system. All of these issues are causing devastating effects to the reef and;
therefore, is why 370 square miles of the Belize Barrier Reef system is protected by the Belize Barrier
Reef Reserve system. The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System includes seven marine reserves, 450
cayes, and three atolls (UNESCO). A marine reserve is an area of the sea that has legal protection
against fishing or development. To further the effort in 1990, the Government of Belize created the
Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) within the fisheries department. The CZMU has created
different ministries, which are responsible for the management and preservation of different areas of
the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve system. The three main ministries involved in the coastal management
are the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (responsible for marine reserves and fisheries
management), the

Examples Of Ethos In Jfk Speech
The number one thing most people fear is writing a speech and auditioning it publicly. Many people
would rather die than to present publicly. Writing speeches to persuade people is not only a skill but
art there needs to be a little bit of everything, The 3 common things in every persuasive speech is
Pathos, Logos, and Ethos. Pathos is what appeals to the emotion or what tugs on the heart. Logos is
something that has to do with statistics or logistics like financial cost and funding. Lastly, Ethos is
using a credible source such as the former President John F. Kennedy. Analyzing JFK speech to fund
NASA, I can take a look on how this 3 aspects appeal to a great persuasive speech. To begin, John F.

Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or credibility of
the persuader. This for one greatens the trust and reliability the audience feels hence the effectiveness
of the speech. A perfect example of this is the speaker, John F. Kennedy, the former President of the
United States. He is a great example of reliability and trust being elected the representative of the free
world. Also because of his young age at election he appeals to majority of taxpayers around his age.
President Kennedy is not the only Ethos throughout the speech he mentions another within his speech
like, ...choice which this country must make...under the leadership of the Space Committees of the
Congress. This example of Ethos mentions the Space Committees of the Congress. A group of
individuals that have been educated and are determined to use taxpayers money efficiently and wisely.
This little blurb within the speech gives taxpayers comfort that their money is going to a reliable
place. Ethos is an important aspect in every speech because it provides credibility of the persuader

corporations such as Disney has created a scripted lifestyle, or personality traits for young girls.
Following the analysis of Ever After, Cinderella, and What s wrong with Cinderella by Peggy

alter the unique individual development of personality in adolescents, as well as propose a major
profit opportunities for large corporations simply by continuously portraying and merchandising the

When her father dies from a heart attack, Daniel is left with her evil stepmother, as well as the

The Early Phases and Globalization of Coffee Essay
A commodity is a raw material or primary agricultural product that can be bought and sold. The
market treats it as equipment or nearly so with no regard to who produced it. The original producer
does not make the big money from the good that has become a commodity demanded by consumers. A
commodity s supply and demand is part of one universal market like corn, or wheat. A stereo is
something that would not be considered a commodity. Other things are important about a stereo not
that it is just a stereo but what brand and quality is in consideration when purchasing a stereo. Demand
for one type might be much larger than the demand for another. This is not the case with commodities;
they lose differentiation across their supply base. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grain lost its value and was without quality. The farmer s were not rewarded based on the quality
of the grain but the quantity. This made it very hard to determine the true value of a sack of grain, this
apparent in coffee as well.
We can understand the relation between commodity and trade development through the study of
coffee and it s origins. Over about 90% of coffee is produced in the South, and consumed in the North.
Or a long time Latin America has provided most of the world s coffee. Coffee comes from a cherry
produced by a tree that requires a warm climate without any sudden temperature shifts or frost and it
needs plenty of rain. This climate is ideal for coffee between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
During the movement of coffee from harvest to export the first step is to separate the coffee bean from
the skin and the pulp of the cherry, this results in what is called green coffee. Before it is exported the
coffee is cleaned and sorted into lots that have different quality attributes, something like the grain
elevators. The lots vary as they go from country to country based on the size, the shape shape and the
deficiencies it might have or the way it is processed. At this point in the process the coffee still has it s
individual quality and value.
Coffee is then sent to roasting facilities where it is blended. By manipulating the composition of the
blend, roasters

Comparing Descartes And John Locke On How Is God Related...
One of the main questions philosophers strive to fulfill happens to be How is God related to the world,
especially in causality. An increasingly popular idea was that the world and nature were like a machine
and everything worked together like a montage of parts. Disturbance again reigned from Christians
and thus came primary and secondary causality. Such as the primary cause is too wet the grass and the
secondary is the rain which in turn will make the grass wet. God is the primary cause for everything
while he works in secondary causes. Spinoza, however, sees God as a substance and He is everything.
Such as Descartes, Locke wished to determine how the human mind acquires knowledge. He believed
a newborn child was a blank slate and knowledge

18th Street Gang Case Study
This paper will discuss organized crime and use the case of a youth gang called the 18th Street Gang,
the largest youth gang in the Western Hemisphere, to answer the question: Why do youth join gangs?
The members of the 18th Street Gang have so much power that they were able to control the entire
transportation system in El Salvador (Markham 2015). Members open fired at passengers and drivers,
torched down busses and killed people who were riding in pickup trucks as an alternative way to get
to and from work (Markham 2015).
So what factors lead up this sort of group violence and how are members recruited? This paper will

Studies show that there is a link between parent child bonds and if there is a strong bond between
parents and their child that child is less inclined to engage in delinquent behaviour (Young, Fitzgibbon
and Silverstone 2014). To support this argument, a study done by Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone
(2014) examined levels and trends of delinquency in different types of families such as extended
families, single parent families and the size of the family. Results showed that those who came from
extended families are more likely to join a youth gang versus those who came from smaller families
(Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). Moreover, delinquency rates of those who came from non
traditional homes is 10 15% higher than those from traditional homes (Young, Fitzgibbon and
Silverstone 2014). This shows that in larger families and in families where there is a single parent, the
child is less supervised and therefore, there is a lack of attachment and bonds between family
members. Therefore, youth under these conditions are more likely to join a youth

My Opinion About A.A.Milne s A Word for Autumn
Essay.
What can be more dreadful than autumn? Every year we say farewell to summer and always think of it
as the end of the world, to tell the truth, me, too. Undoubtedly, there are people who are fascinated
with autumn, they like it. Anyway, it s a beautiful time of the year, very picturesque and bright,
especially during September. Leaves are red, orange, yellow, golden brown and amber. The air is cool,
crisp and the sky looks darker and more boundless in the evenings. But...it s autumn and nothing can
be done till the next June. It s like a damnation and a punishment for relaxed and carefree summer we
ve just spent.
A.A. Milne shares the other point of view in his essay A Word for Autumn . The narrator is kind of a
relativist here. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

That s why, may be, it so important to keep this feeling and thought inside, and bring it throughout
autumn and winter. We still don t have such a skill. To be honest, me not. I try to cultivate this habit in
me but every time it s in vain and A. A. Milne on the contrary succeeded in it and I m a little envious
about him in this way. He is epicurean here, he takes the best of life while he can, he enjoys every
moment of life. He sees it s beauty in the fresh celery and a wedge of cheese , in vegetables and fruits,
in the pipe he just smoked, in taverns and London inns.
And here comes the thought that it s a good life and it s going to be this way no matter what happens.
The narrator wanted to make us think about it and he did. He ensured me and here I agree with him
that: The end of the summer is not the end of the world. Here s to October and, waiter, some more

Agribusiness and large scale farming have seen their fair share of both critics and supporters,
especially today, as the internet has become an unlimited source of information and biased articles.
Throughout the last few decades, technologies in the farming industry have advanced immensely as
the need for more food faster has increased, but some still question the safety and trustworthiness of
genetically modified organisms, also known as GMOs, while others find these technological advances
necessary to feed our endlessly increasing population. By far the more popular view of agribusiness
and the large scale farming is the critical, anti GMO point of view. As Mary Jalonick (2014) writes on

Michael Pollan (2006) writes, Before Haber s invention, the sheer amount of life earth could support
the size of crops and therefore the number of human bodies was limited by the amount of nitrogen that

way was found to augment this naturally occurring nitrogen, the growth of the human population
would soon grind to a very painful halt (p. 2). Genetic modifications of our foods had to be made in
order to sustain the rate at which our population was growing. Agribusiness focusses on the
advancement of technology in order to produce more food at a more efficient pace. Donald Barlett and
James Steele (2008) write, Monsanto developed G.M. seeds that would resist its own herbicide,
Roundup, offering farmers a convenient way to spray fields with weed killer without affecting crops.
Convenience is key in agribusiness as it allows farmers to produce more, which is necessary to keep

The Hierarchy Of Structure And Agency
There is a constant debate about the primacy of structure or agency in forming human behavior in the
social science. Carlsnaes (as cited in Hay, 1995) claimed that the problem of structure and agency is ...
the central problem of social and political theory . Radically, the agency structure problem is an
ontological problem which is related to the nature of structures, agents and their correlations (Wight,
2003). There are four influential positions in the structure agency debate: structuralism,
intentionalism, structuration theory and critical realism (Hay, 1995). In his book, structuralism
emphasizes the dominance of structure rather than agency on behavior. It is a structure centered
approach, arguing that structures constrain and even determine agency in the relationship between
structure and agency. However, intentionalism highlights the agents in explaining behavior. It is an
agency centered approach that regards structures as the product of intentional acts. Structuration
theory presents a developed attempt to transcend the dualism in which structure and agency are
connected externally. It argues for the duality of structure . Critical realism is based on a dialectical
cognizance of structure and agency, striving to overcome the dualism of the two. It links to strategic
relational approach . This essay will argue that structure and agency is a dialectical unity of
relationship, and they entail and affect each other. In exceptional circumstances, they can be

Psalms 100 Essay
The Greeks believe David wrote Psalms 100. It s a psalm of praise for the Lord s faithfulness to His
people. This is the only Psalm bearing this exact title. I believe psalms 100 is split into three
identifiable sections: singing, thanksgiving, and expressing the everlasting truth that the Lord is good.
The first section would be singing and unlike most psalms, psalms 100 is still sung today with the title
of Make a Joyful Noise. With the availability of psalms and hymns we must Come before his presence
with singing and worship to heaven where praise has absorbed many prayers (Psalms 100:2).
The theological theme and second identifiable section of Psalms 100 is Thanksgiving. This gratifies
praise to the Lord for the blessings received; they offered the Lord thanksgiving for who he was and
what he had done. If we continue to be receivers of mercy we must also be givers of thanks. Mercy
lets us Enter into his gates with Thanksgiving (Psalms 100:4).
The last identifiable section expresses the everlasting truth that the Lord is good. This is beheld in

Chiasm adds emphasis to words. Since writing techniques such as using bold, underline, italics, or
adjusting the font size were not part of the ancient language at the time, Greek and Hebrew writers
could not help the readers decipher what was important. In Psalms 100 the words: Lord, His, Him, He,
and God are repeated sixteen times. This creates not only emphasis to the Lord but it also shows
power. For example, in Psalms 100 verse 3 it says, Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has
made us... note the capitalism of the words Lord, He, and God; this shows the reader that these words
are of upmost importance and are highly significant. This ties into the message of thanksgiving by
showing that God is essential. Praising to the Lord and giving acknowledgments for all he has done

Thomas Russell Personification

Russell uses imagery, personification, and rhyme to convey the idea that you shouldn t lose hope

Personification brings animals and objects to live by giving them human characteristics. George

He expresses this in lines eleven through thirteen of his poem Freedom , by stating Though far I go
from you, Where in the light outpoured, my bird, are love and freedom too. This expression implies,
that during life individuals will face trying times that will fill them with sorrow. However, people are
constantly able to find pleasure in the light of something they ardor. Furthermore, Russell continues to
indicate this concept within lines fourteen through sixteen of his composition titled Faith by declaring;
The Children of the King should bear, they will not be by Him denied, His light will make their
darkness fair. In this poem the king represents the spiritual idea that Russell finds peace within. So as
a result the sovereign in this statement claims he is going to make the suffering of people from all ages
just with his love, as long as they don t lose confidence. So in essence Russell is letting his readers
know through his poems that even in their darkest and toughest times if they don t succumb to the
darkness but remain hopeful light will shine upon

The Superpowers And Causes Of The Cold War
Introduction
The Cold War was an era where two superpowers fought for dominance. For many years, the US and
USSR have been the leading powers in the whole world. However, the United States was trying to
gain followers of their democratic ideal, whereas the USSR promoted communism. Through some
attempts of reaching a common ground, both superpowers caused a split between the East and the
West until 1991. The main reasons lie in the events of years 1945 1947.
Yalta Conference
First of all, the Cold War s origins go back to the events of 1945 when two important conferences have
occurred: Yalta and Potsdam. A mutual lack of trust has been present between countries US and USSR
for years. However, these two countries (along with Britain) came together ... Show more content on

Greece was a poor country at that time; destroyed, full of tubercular, and with zero animals, livestock

from foreigners who foisted their totalitarian regime on them. Truman believed that only the US could
help Greece in their long term recovery. He said, The United States must supply this assistance...there
is no other country to which democratic Greece can turn. ( Truman, Harry S. ) Then he said, If Greece
should fall under the control of an armed minority, the effect upon its neighbor, Turkey, would be
immediate and serious. Confusion and disorder might well spread throughout the entire Middle East. (
Truman, Harry S. ) What Truman meant, was the Domino Theory . If Greece fell to Communism,
Turkey would as well, and it would spread across the Middle East. By the end of WWII, Soviets
pressured Turkey into allowing Russian shipping to go through the Turkish Straits. Turkish
government turned down their request, and Soviets exerted naval force. The US took Turkey under
their wing and supplied the country with any possible aid including military and economic. This might
seem like US was showing signs of authority and this exchange between USSR and US was obvious.
Americans came there to save Greece and Turkey from Soviets. A war was slowly developing. But

Marketing Concept Of Customer Generating Marketing
Customer generating marketing has become very popular nowadays given the explosion in digital and
social media. Engaging customers on a more personal interactive level is key to your bottom line. The
marketing concept suggests that company strategies should revolve around creating customer value by
engaging customers and building profitable relationships. In order for your company to be successful,
all members of the company must participate in marketing, not just the marketing department. They
must want to create value for the customer in order to engage them. It is a team effort. That is why it is
important to understand marketing and how you play a role or fit in it.
A value delivery network is key to delivering customer value. Suppliers, distributors, employees, and
customers must work together closely to improve the performance of the entire system. Developing
differentiation in the market contributes in creating superior customer value in order to capture value
in return. Companies that understand their brand and communicate it well to their targeted audience
are going to achieve success. As consumers change, companies must change with them. If they fail to
adapt, it is a good chance they will be left behind. T Mobile is a good illustration of creating
differentiation and adapting to consumer changes in the market. Cellular customers have become tired
of being locked into two year agreements with their cellular providers. They wanted to have the
freedom of switching

  • 2. Elementary School Bully From Bullied to Barron Elementary school was not a fun time for me. I was scrawny, pale, and featured a bowl haircut. (think Alfalfa, minus the cowlick) If we re being honest, I still am scrawny and pale, but thank goodness I ve managed to rid myself of the haircut. The other unfortunate thing about Elementary school for me was that back then, in 2009, Bullying wasn t seen as a serious topic of discussion, schools in general didn t care about bullying until late 2010, when it caught national media attention. I used to wish that I had gone to school a few years late just so I wouldn t have to deal with the bullies in my grade. Now, I look back on what I went through and realize, ironically, how positive an impact it had on my life. From 3rd grade on, there were people in my class that did not like me, no matter how nice I tried to be to them. It started out as simple name calling, which hurt a 3rd grade version of me tremendously. It progressively got worse until the 5th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I graduated middle school the year after that and went on to attend Woodbridge High School. It was my first complete fresh start since my epiphany, and I looked forward to using it to my advantage. Soon, I found myself involved in so many things, including becoming the school mascot, The Barron, a mascot that dons a Tuxedo with a black top and Red bowtie. This had turned out to be my calling. In the years that followed, I was known by everyone in town simply as The Barron. Locally, I was the first Barron in the 75 year history of WHS to be awarded a Varsity Letter, with my jacket being awarded to me for free on behalf of the HS Administration. State wide, I was recognized as the best HS mascot in the state of New Jersey in the year of 2015 and 16, the first two years they began having the competition. • 3. Essay on The Dream The Dream In the early twentieth century, film maker and producer Adolph Zukor met Jesse Lasky, owner of Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company. The two men admired each others previous work and, in 1916, decided to combine forces. They created Paramount pictures and had one of the most familiar slogans in the film industry, If it s a Paramount Picture it s the Best Show in Town . Proving their slogan true they started turning out more than two pictures per week. During it s peak in the silent film making era, Paramount was making 5 million dollars a year more than other production companies such as Warner, Fox, and Universal.(Paramount) Paramount Pictures has come a long way ... Another fun experience Paramount has provided for their viewers is theme parks. Paramount has theme parks all over the United States, including a Star Trek theme park in Las Vegas.(Viacom) Entertainment is not all Paramount has provided for the telecommunications and film industry. Since the company began, the decisions it has made have influenced others in the industry. Even though they may not have always been the most profitable movie making company, they have always been interested in broadening their horizons, and the sky was the limit. Not long after Paramount was created Zukor decided to maintain his company s supremacy in the industry. He began a theater buying campaign that amassed single houses and entire circuits... By 1930, the firm s movie house division had grown to include almost 2,000 units and was named Publix Theaters (Huettig). Paramount helped establish the neighborhood movie theater, along with providing hundreds of award winning quality movies to view. Paramount has also contributed to the competitive aspect of the movie industry, forcing actors and directors to do their best work. • 4. Fonderia Di Torino S.P.a Essay Fonderia di Torino, S.p.A Midterm Individual Case Fonderia di Torino, S.p.A is a manufacturing company who produces metal castings using six semi automated molding machines. However, they are currently considering purchasing a Vulcan Mold Maker machine to replace the six machines currently in place. The firm needs to consider all costs in deciding whether to keep the current machines or purchase the Vulcan Mold Maker. Buying the Vulcan machine will result in year 0 outflows of 1.01 million euros, but will enable the company to sell the old machines which will result in a net year 0 outflow of 880,000 euros. The cash flows of years 1 8 are summarized in table 1. Factoring in operating, maintenance and power cost, plus the benefits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, the need for higher capacity may in fact be needed if the effects of an improved product contribute to more market share. There is a projected inflation rate of 3%. Applying this rate to all costs, minus depreciation, we find that the effect is a lower NPV and raise the EAC for both decisions. However, purchasing the Vulcan machine still remains to have the lower EAC. Thus, all other things equal, the purchasing the Vulcan seems to quantitatively be the better decision. There are also a few other small impacts which are not factored into the EAC. The Vulcan frees up 15% of floor space and also has a maximum capacity that is 30% higher than the current machines. In the near future this may be irrelevant because there is no need for more floor space and the current machines are only operating at 90% capacity as it is, but these should still be considered added benefits as unforeseeable market conditions over the next eight years may warrant the need for added capacity. After considering both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the decision, it would be my recommendation to purchase the Vulcan machine. All of the data shows that the Vulcan machine will be less costly and more efficient. What the data does not show however is the critical assumption that the laborers will be able to be laid off without dispute. If there is conflict from the labor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One raised in a smaller country, then moved to a larger country mixed with multiple culture is an experience not to be taking for granted. Full of hardships. Yet, despite lacking in the modern luxuries that are readily available in the United States, they also live a vibrant life full of flavorful food, music, dance, ritual and celebration. Underneath all of our cultural differences, the same heart still beats. Food must be eaten, clean water must be drank. Everyone must sleep at night, and wake up to a bright new day. Public health is everything from health promotion to injury and disease prevention for the betterment of the entire population not just the select few. The government at federal, state, and local levels generally monitors public health and set rules and regulations. They have to regulate research to ensure that it is ethical and legal because over the last hundred years many unethical experiments and trails have been done on at risk populations such as the Tuskegee Syphilis study. Henrietta had a biopsy done of her cervical cancer when she went to the Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the few facilities that would treat African Americans at that time. The doctor, Dr. TeLinde, took two samples, one cancerous and one normal to compare the two. His colleague Dr. Gey was a recognized tissue culture researcher who asked for samples of cervical cancer to study, one of the samples randomly given was Henrietta s. She was treated for her cancer but it wasn t enough, and the cancer eventually spread through her body and she died. Her cells, that Dr. Gey was given, showed the amazing ability to regenerate her telomeres, sequences of repeating DNA that are shortened each time a cell divides acting as a biological clock. Her cells appeared to be immortal and were easily grown again and again in laboratory conditions in vitro. He gave some of these cells to many other researchers because he saw their usefulness in their respective fields. Anything from how viruses replicate to what a drug does to them would benefit from HeLa cells. Biotech companies made a HeLa (the given name of the cells, Henrietta Lacks) factory to mass produce these cells for profit. They began shipping the cells to anyone that wanted to purchase them: other researchers, drug companies and even cosmetic companies that could test them on human cells versus animals. In A Hunger Artist the artist joins the circus and wants to astound the world by setting a fasting record. However, the more the artist fasted the more the crowds ignored him. Critic R.O.C. Winkler suggests that the crowds ignored the artist because of a corruption in the relationships between humans.iii[iii] The corruption is seen when a passer by stopped and looked at the old figure on the sign and spoke of swindling . The comment made by the passer by cheated the hunger artist of his recognition, and showed the world s inborn malice and indifference . The hunger artist s eroded cage, comprised of dirty and illegible placards, the pointless sign tracking the days of the fast and dirty straw, further signified the corruption in the relationship between the hunger artist and the world. During Kafka s lifetime he saw a shift in his audience s attention and felt alienated by modern society.iv As the hunger artist sought the crowd s attention he was also trapped in another struggle between his need for fame and his need for isolation. The struggle is seen when the artist s cage was set up near the animals in the circus. As people walked to the menagerie they saw the artist and some stayed and stared and others rushed off to see the animals. Ironically, the artist disliked the people ... The Challenges Of Veterans With Disabilities This research paper will discuss the challenges and opportunities that veterans with disabilities encounter when transitioning from the Military into the civilian workplace. Currently, there are more than 6 million veterans in the United States with a disability. A veteran is defined as a person who has served or is serving in the United States Armed Forces. While reintegrating the veterans back into the workplace, veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Physical Disabilities will be one of the greatest challenges that any agency will encounter. This will require that organizations prepare and implement procedures to make special accommodations to assist the Veteran while following the federally mandated guidelines. Moreover, this will allow organizations to employee and empower America s bravest men and women; hiring a veteran brings valuable skills and knowledge into the workplace. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is defined as a debilitating psychological condition triggered by a major event such as war, a terrorist act, or a catastrophic event. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs there are over 2.3 million American Veterans of the Irag and Afghanistan wars, with at least 20 % of them having a documented case of PTSD. • 10. The Doctor Who Was An Angel For the last 20 years and counting, I ve concluded she was an angel: the doctor who found me in my hospital room bleeding to death, in the wee hours after my double mastectomy reconstruction surgery. She was the shadow standing beside my bed; who shook me and said, You re bleeding internally. You have to go back to surgery. With the little strength I had left in me, I did all the shadow asked of me. Like in the operation room when I was too near death to be given anesthesia, I swallowed the tube she asked me to swallow, like a champ, and without choking on it, one bit. When it was all over, several days later, and I had regained consciousness, there was a sweet smiling lady doctor, no longer a shadow, who stood in the midst of my three doctors. Who are you? Where did you come from? I asked the sweet smiling face behind golden rimmed glasses. From Chicago, she responded to me, facetiously. No, I plead. Where did you really come from? Which she did answer, but said, Get some rest. You ve been through a lot. We ll talk soon. (Fast Forward) I learned a few days after my surgery that I had lost over half of the blood in my body, and that I should have died. And had it not have been for this shadow/ this doctor, I would have. But where did she come from? She was not my doctor. She had no right or reason to come into my hospital room. • 11. The War On Drugs And Drugs Essay The war on drugs have been a critical issue that has repeatedly held a great debate topic. It was in the 1906 when the first act against drug was put into effect with the Pure Food and Drug Act which required all over the counter medication to have label of its ingredients. Under President Nixon the first executive branch office to coordinate drug policy was formed and the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act was put into place. Two years following that the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) was formed. The funding for the war on drugs had greatly increased over the decades and has reached the record of an annual budget of $17.8 billion which occurred in 1998. Much of the budget is used to intervene drug flow on the U.S. border and for interdiction according to Cooper s 1993 War on Drugs article. Some people agree that having more man power at the U.S. border will help eliminate the U.S. drug problem while others argue that even though having more people working the border increases drug seizures there are still drugs continuing to enter the United States. These may be the very people that believe in using the budget to provide more educational programs to the younger generation and having prevention programs will help those that may have become a drug user if not a addict. The last group of American do not believe either of those programs have worked in the past and will not work in the future. With those options gone the only thing left to do it to legalize ... Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia, USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and culture of that time. In any case, which country can truly claim to be following its traditional culture in a pure form? None have remained in a pristine state; all have been subject to change and distortion by external influence, both as a result of colonialism and through participation in modern inter state relations. You cannot follow the model of a modern nation state cutting across tribal boundaries and conventions, and then argue that tribal traditions should be applied to judge the human rights conduct of that modern state. There is nothing sacrosanct about culture anyway.
