Example Of A Memoir Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Example of a Memoir Essay" can present a unique set of
challenges. First and foremost, the genre of memoir demands a delicate balance between
personal reflection and universal resonance. One needs to delve into personal experiences,
emotions, and memories, translating them into a narrative that not only captures the essence of
the individual but also engages a wider audience.
The difficulty lies in the art of introspection, as writers must navigate through their own
memories and emotions with honesty and vulnerability. Revisiting significant events, exploring
the impact of those moments, and weaving them into a coherent narrative requires a profound
level of self-awareness. Moreover, the challenge extends to finding the right voice, tone, and
structure to convey the richness of the experience without losing the reader's interest.
Additionally, the task involves the skillful use of language to evoke emotions and create a vivid,
immersive experience for the reader. Striking a balance between descriptive language and
maintaining a smooth narrative flow is crucial. The writer must choose words carefully to convey
the emotional nuances of the memoir without becoming overly sentimental or detached.
Moreover, the challenge lies in making the personal story relatable to a diverse audience. While
the essay revolves around individual experiences, the narrative should transcend personal
boundaries and resonate with readers from various backgrounds. Achieving this universality
without losing the authenticity of the personal story demands a delicate touch.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of a memoir is a complex endeavor. It necessitates a
deep exploration of personal experiences, a keen understanding of storytelling techniques, and
the ability to connect with readers on a universal level. Despite the inherent challenges, the
process offers a rewarding opportunity for self-discovery and the creation of a narrative that has
the potential to leave a lasting impact.

Decision Making Is At The Core Of The United States...
Decision making is at the core of the United States Supreme Court. The justices are
not immune to possessing political ideologies and similarly to the American public,
those ideologies impact their lives to varying degrees. The facet of judicial politics
explored in this paper is decision making and the impact of ideology. While it would
be ideal for the Supreme Court to have zero influences other than the constitution, it
is also wishful thinking. Author Jeffrey Toobin agrees with political scientists that
the justices of the United States Supreme Court make decisions and rulings that are
a result of their ideologies and personal values. He says, All justices have a political
ideology as well as a legal philosophy that s a big reason presidents choose them in
the first place. Perhaps the most astute opinion on this matter comes from Justice
Sonia Sotomayor: The aspiration to impartiality is just that it s an aspiration because
it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others.
Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see Toobin s own
statements often reflect the argument that he attempts to prove about the justices
being in line with the attitudinal model. He writes, The justices built their judicial
philosophies on the foundation of their prior lives. The question is, to what extent do
justices allow their personal values and experiences to impact their court duties? The
idea that the justices are

Hyper Sexuality Disorder Hyper sexuality, sexual compulsivity, sexual addiction,
and even out of control sexual behavior, are all terms that relate to the same thing:
hyper sexuality disorder. Hyper sexuality disorder is one in which a person
experiences extremely frequent or suddenly increased sexual urges or sexual activity.
Influenced by both physiological and psychological impulses, hyper sexuality leads
to emotional and physical distress. The sexualized nature of the American culture
combined with the overwhelming amount of online pornography is a major
contributing factor to the prevalence of hyper sexuality disorder. Sex is seen
everywhere, in advertising, entertainment, pop culture, and daily life, and has become
intensely intrusive at a psychological level within people. Because of the ever
growing amount of pornography and sex seen throughout our everyday lives, it is no
wonder that those that become sex addicts have personal distress resulting in affected
function. The saturation of our pornified culture contributes to the development of a
hyper sexuality disorder, which affects behavior, cognitive processes, and lifestyle.

The Chocolate War Analysis
You can put a band aid on a cut but nothing can heal your mind. Within The
Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, Archie Costello s psychological tactics of
violence are more useful than Emile Janza s physical tactics. Archie manipulates
the student body of Trinity with mind games such as the assignments. Meanwhile,
Emile is not very manipulative, he uses brutal and physically hurtful ways to get
to people. Archie is more effective of getting what he wants with using his tactics
of mind games, rather than Emile s brutal ways. Throughout Trinity, Archie
Costello makes the lives of the student body scarce. Part of this is his
psychological stratagems. With the assignments he comes up with, many of the
kids tend to fall apart, like Goober. When selling the chocolates, The Goober s
breath came fast. But otherwise he felt nothing. He willed himself to feel nothing.
He didn t feel rotten. He didn t feel like a traitor. He didn t feel small and cowardly.
And if he didn t feel all of these things, then why was he crying all the way to his
locker (Cormier 211). Goober is not selling the chocolates because he wants to stand
up for Jerry, but Archie stops this. He manipulates it and makes it seem as if Goober
had sold all of them, defeating Goober s purpose. With something as simple as this,
Goober is in emotional pain and much instability. Secondly, Archie even has a way to
effectively torture Janza. Throughout, Archie repeatedly tells Emile that he has an
inappropriate picture of him,

Eating On the Cheap: Surviving At All Costs
A previous article talked about lessons we could learn or have learned from the
great depression of the 1920 s and 30 s. When many if not most of the people at the
time were essentially broke, food became a big problem, especially for those living
in the cities because they could not step out their back door and pick a hand full of
corn or tomatoes for dinner, or grab the hatchet and go collect Sunday dinner from the
henhouse. Their food was processed by others and then delivered to stores, but soon
the deliveries stopped because the meat packing plants closed, the delivery drivers
were laid off, and many merchants shuttered their doors. Food was scarce.

Small restaurants and convenient stores could not always get a food vendor to
deliver because their purchases were not big enough to warrant a large delivery
truck, so they shopped for their businesses themselves. Be careful when shopping
and avoid buying bulk just because it is a good deal.
If you buy meat in bulk do not let it set in the Fridge until it spoils, get it into the
freezer the day you brought it home. Fresh meat spoils within days even when stored
under refrigeration, so if you waste time you will end up wasting food.
Shop with a list and stick to it, but it takes planning because you will need to know
what meals you want to prepare for the next few days. Buy just enough for the meals
you have planned, which brings us to cooking at home. Do you know how to cook,
because eating out rarely saves you money on your grocery bill? People eat out and
they still stock their freezers and refrigerators with food, food that spoils because
they are not eating it at

The Telling of a Survivor s Holocaust Story Literary Representation vs Visual

Can fiction tell the same type of story as non fiction or a factual first hand account?
The Holocaust, a story that has been told from the perspective of the survivor as well
as the culprit, novels written, play adaptions, movies, and documentaries. Some of
these representations have been fictionalized with creative license taken while others
are firsthand accounts given in memories. I will explore these representations in the
telling of the Holocaust story. Whether fictionalized or factual, all the stories share
common themes suffering, loss, sacrifice, death, inhumanity and ultimately freedom

Nazi SS Officer, Franz Suchomel, in his documentary testimony in Shoah, was not
only a witness to the horror of the concentration camps, but played a role, whether
direct or indirect, in the killing of 12,000 15,000 Jews a day. His account of the
events, offers no opportunity to feel sympathy towards him as he shows no sympathy
towards what happened to the thousands of Jews a day who came through Treblinka.
He brushes aside any responsibility and simply notes that it s an order from the

Knuckleball Research Paper
MLB breaking balls can easily be the hardest pitches to throw. You have to have a
certain grip on the ball. You have to have a certain throwing motion to be able to
make them break/move. You also need to be able to throw the ball at the right
speed and the speed with your arm motion has to be a certain speed as well. There
are three breaking balls that can make or break a pitcher in the MLB. The first
pitch that I will talk about is the knuckleball. Knuckleballs are one of the hardest
pitches to consistently control because it seems to just float in the air and can t be
easily placed. The NPR says, throw the knuckleball a pitch that can make even the
best hitters look helpless. The knuckleball is a crazy pitch that can trick many batters,

The most important finger to be able to throw the curveball is the middle finger.
The pitcher will find a seam that will give resistance to the middle finger to get
more control and spin on the ball. This is how the spin on the curveball is so tight.
According to Steven Ellis, The throwing elbow must be equal to or slightly above
the throwing shoulder. You must stay over the top when you throw the curveball.
Throwing it when it s under your shoulder then you put additional stress on your
arm. Also if the arm is at an angle larger than 90 degrees then it also puts additional
stress on your arm. The placement of your arm will be alot closer to your head
then you re normal fastball. It will be slightly up and away from your ear. When
you release the curveball you want to release it out in front of you. The way you
release the ball is the type of action you want the pitch to have. When releasing a
curveball, your wrist will be hooked and your hand will pull down in front of your
body, says Steven Ellis. The further you release the ball from your head, the less
grip you will have on the ball, resulting in a looser spin on your pitch. It is extremely
important that you maintain similar arm speed with your curveball that you have
with your fastball. A hitter reads arm speed. says Steven
The Things They Carried Journal Assignment
Katie Bishop Period 2 The Things They Carried Journal Assignment The things the
soldiers carried defined their character, both the physical things and the
metaphorical things. All of the men physically carried their gear, which included
things like their helmet, jungle boots, grenades, firearms, and sometimes each
other. Mentally they had to carry their brutal memories of war and the terrible
things they encountered. 1st Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letter from his
girlfriend Martha, 2 photographs of her, and a pebble good luck charm; all of
these things show that he is compassionate and cares deeply about his girlfriend.
He also carried the lives of his men on his shoulders. Dave Jensen can be
characterized as a hygienic person; he carried extra socks, a toothbrush, floss, soap,
and foot powder. Along with his hygienic items, he carried a rabbit s foot for good
luck. Many other men carried things that symbolized important things; Norman
Bowker carried a tongue from an enemy and a diary, Rat Kiley carried comic
books, and Kiowa carried a pair of moccasins, an illustrated new testament, and his
grandfather s hatchet. Each man carried memories, stress, and knowledge.
Personally I carry memories, that are each important in their own ways, and I
carry a little wooden lady bug with me for good luck. In the chapter On the Rainy

British Immigration After 1945
Immigration became a significant part of society in the post war period, it redefined
the public s perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is
worth noting that immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had
welcomed refugees in the past, notably the Irish who became one of the largest
groups throughout the 20th century. Many Europeans also sought refuge in Britain,
for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930 ; Peter Fryer notes on the
existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the level of
immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an
exclusive national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour
of your skin. Race as a concept has also transformed, with culture being a major
element in British society. Politics has also had a major influence, with the
introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among Britain s citizens, although
this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for legislation to be
introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which
allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. However, despite the progress
that has been made due to immigration, the reaction of the people wasn t always as
positive, subsequently leading to racial tensions and a lack of respect among the
people for immigration. These aspects are very significant when discussing the
development of

The French imperfect (imparfait) is a descriptive past tense which indicates an
ongoing state of being or a repeated or incomplete action. The beginning and end of
the state of being or action are not indicated, and the imperfect is very often

2. Habitual vs Occasional The imperfect is used for habitual or repeated actions,
something that happened an uncounted number of times: Je voyageais en France
tous les ans. I traveled (used to travel) to France every year. Je visitais souvent le

Joan Of Arc Argument
Joan of Arc was a teenage girl who heard visions from God to lead an army. She
believed that God s plan for France was to push the English Kingdom out. She
approached the king with the statement that she was from God and that was her
message that she was bringing God into the war. Joan proved that a woman could
lead a battlefield but the end result is unfortunate. Joan had nothing to fear because
God was on her side and sent her to do this, lead an army. Joan eventually becomes
sentenced as a heretic after failing her one day given mission to kick the English
out of France and take Paris. Because Joan was supposed to be a messenger from
God and claimed something was going to happen but didn t, the question is, then
what? She is seen as a heretic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trial was to show that Joan is a heretic and that the messages were not from
God. There s a fantastic amount of evidence from the trial because the English
wanted it to stand as a historical testimonial to the truth that Joan was indeed a
heretic. As the interrogations grew more intense, she was pushed to give greater
details and concrete information of the voices and sounds she was hearing as well
as images. The more descriptive Joan became the less credible and trustable her
word was. Her claims are then rather seen as human fabrications or from the devil.
Joan is trying to make truth of it though for she has no clue or theological training.
She s telling them what they want to hear without even realizing it because she
whole heartedly believes it. When it came down to the deliberations, Forty seven
masters gave their opinions; most stated their support for the decisions of the
University of Paris, that unless Joan abjured, she should be condemned as a
heretic and delivered to secular justice; some also recommended that Joan be
warned one last time; some said that the case could be concluded and the sentence
pronounced on the same day; some deferred to the judges for subsequent
procedure. 13 Joan fears for what the verdict could be and recants, Then in the
presence of the above and before a great crowd of clergy and people, she
pronounced her recantation and abjuration, according to the text of a certain
schedule in French that was read for her, which she pronounced and signed with her

1. The writing demonstrates substantial and successful revision.
After receiving the feedback for my first short assignment, I realized that were a lot
of revision that needed to be done. For the first short assignment, I was required to
write a rhetorical analysis on my service learning s organization website. While I did

immigrants with numerous programs, services and advocacy2.The writing responds
to substantive issues raised by the instructor and peers, I failed to relate it to the
website s usage of rhetorical appeals. In order to produce an effective piece, I
decided to revise my work but relating the rhetorical appeals to my original claim,
and by providing a more detailed analysis on how they relate. As an example, in my
original submission, I only wrote The overall appearance of the website aims to give

Propaganda And The World Of Doublespeak
The use of propaganda and double speaking have a long history, going back to the
ancient societies. Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have
an effect on the emotions, attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them
to accept a particular political, religious, or financial point of view, or even to start a
war. It is careful manipulation of the opinions of the societies mostly by their
government. In the effort to control the nation s thought process, the government has
stemmed to using mass propagandafor selling a war.
In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of
Doublespeak, both authors discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda
and the misleading nature of doublespeak. First, Donna Woolfolk Cross describes
the constructions and the specific methods propaganda presented in our day by
day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross believes that it is important for
People in a democratic society to be well informed about propaganda due to how
people get manipulated into simply doing something except thinking. Additionally,
Cross explains for us as readers the different sorts of propaganda and how we view
the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her essay that propaganda is not
continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her
essay that there are thirteen different types of propaganda; such as Card Stacking,

Why Was Vasco Da Gama Responsible
many of you might know Vasco Da Gama only as an explorer; however, he was
also a voyager who has done several successful voyages throughout the world that
had great effect to his country. He was the first man to find the direct seaway
toward India and also has done several voyages to help his country out. He had said, I
am not afraid of the darkness. Real death is preferable to a life without living which
showed his braveness and fearless about going out for voyages. I believe that Vasco

responsibility to his voyage and patriotism.

Reason for his second voyage was on the country. Pedro Cabral had conflicts with the
local Arab merchants which leading the Arab merchants attacking the Portugal
factory and having up to 70 Portuguese killed. He went out on the voyage for the
revenge of this event. He went out with fleet of fifteen ships and 800 men from Lisbon
. Later on squadron of five ships led by his cousin, followed them. During the way
out he stopped by Sofala, a gold trading port in East Africa, to earn gold from them.
When Da Gama went across in Indian water he was trying to capture Arab vessel.
Da Gama had actually captured a ship full of passengers and killed everyone in it
in the sea. Da Gama had ordered the Hindu King to have all the Muslims out of
Calicut, however this did not turn out to happen. As a result, Vasco Da Gama had
begun to attack the cities that are near the shore for several days also treating crew
s violently from the Muslim s rice vessels and sending them notes about insulting
Zarmorin. Zarmorin as a response they declined to Portuguese, not only that but
also having a fleet go threat Vasco Da Gama, however this did not turn out to work
out well. Vasco Da Gama had taken spices from Cochin and Cannanore, while some
were at wars. Vasco Da Gama had decided to leave India having small squadron to
protect the Portugal factories and tiresome the Calicut shipping. However, Vasco Da

Machiavelli s View Of Human Nature
All the states, all the dominions, under whose authority men have lived in the past
and live now have been and are either republics or principalities. In Machiavelli s, The
Prince, timeless keys to a successful principality are examined. The keys are
understanding
human nature, respecting that nature, and reaffirming that successful leadership can
exist
in the same fashion yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Machiavelli s perspective of human nature is founded on the principle that people
in general don t want their culture changed by an outside influence. Machiavelli
demonstrates in the book that the nature of people is to defend who they are. When the
prince attempts to change their culture in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only through an understanding of the nature of his subjects, having an ability to
control his subjects, and possessing the means to defend his subjects can the prince
truly
find the universal key to open the door to upholding the ideals of practical leadership.
When a prince understands the nature of the people it is easier for him to enter the
land.
Machiavelli writes of the Romans and how they developed their empire, the Aetolians
once brought the Romans into Greece; and in every other country they invaded, the
Romans were brought in by the inhabitants. Because the Romans understood human
nature their movement into power was unchallenged. Once in power it is essential
for the
prince to be able to control the people. I say that a prince must want to have a
reputation
for compassion rather than cruelty: none the less, he must be careful that he does not
make bad use of compassion. When Machiavelli wrote this he was outlining the key to
controlling the people. The prince needs to be able to keep the people united, and
loyal to
him and at the same time ensure respect for the laws by instilling a fear for
punishment.
One of Machiavelli s most used examples of a successful prince is Cesare Borgia. It is
essential to be feared not hated and in the case of Borgia his minister Remirro de Orco
punished law breakers in a cruel fashion that led to people hating Borgia. To create a

Segregation In Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson Before Dying
In Ernest J. Gaines novel A Lesson Before Dying, Grant Wiggins and Jefferson s
struggles are evident in the institutional racism and segregation which is
strengthened by the racial stereotyping in the 1930s and 1940s. In A Lesson Before
Dying, Jefferson, an African American man, is sentenced to the death penalty due to
ignorantly agreeing to go to Mr. GropГ© s store with Brother and Bear; when
Brother and Bear rob the store, the gunfire leaves Jefferson as the only survivor.
Although Jefferson is not guilty of any crime and there is lack of sufficient evidence,
the racial discrimination and stereotyping rampant in the small town of Bayonne,
Louisiana result in his sentence to death. The blatant racial discrimination of the

The concentration of poverty is closely related to residential segregation in which
public schools with higher percentages of black and minority students are
overwhelmed with poverty (Collins and Williams). During the 1930s and 40s, fewer
blacks were enrolled in school than whites, and many were often taken from school
to tend to their families farms (Brooker). White schools often received more public
money than black schools; supplies in African American schools were often
handed down from white schools (Brooker). This is exemplified in A Lesson
Before Dying during Dr. Joseph Morgan s visit to Grant s school when Grant tells
him that the books uses are hand me downs from the white schools and that they
have been missing pages (Gaines 57). Blacks in urban schools often have inferior
classes and a lower level of achievement in comparison to the white students in the
same region (Collins and Williams). This led to the creation of the stereotype that
all African Americans are unintelligent. During the trial in A Lesson Before Dying,
Jefferson s defense attorney refers to him as a fool and states that his skull here
holds no plans (Gaines 7). He later elaborates by explaining that Jefferson is so
ignorant that he does not even know the months of the year, and that he is so foolish
that he would just as soon put a hog in the

Triarc Beverage Group the brand faced a new challenge to reconnect with consumers.
1.How would you characterize Snapple s brand image and sources of brand equity?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the brand s existing personality and image?
Answer:
The roots of Snapple Corporation date back to 1972 in Brooklyn. In 1980s Snapple
introduced ready to drink fruit juices and iced teas. Snapple was the first company to
sell its drinks in single serving wide mouthed glass bottles rather than aluminum cans.
By 1991 Snapple emerged as a nationally recognized brand.
Snapple s Brand Image:
The image that Snapple has is somewhat like the luxury good for the average
person a Porsche for the poor. It defines itself as new age and quirky. It has some
similarities with Red Bull in that it created a product category and did it their own

bit of a rebellious everyman vibe. It equity comes from being a

CORE PRINCIPLES
There are seven key principles that encompass PRINCE2. They are essentially
lessons that were derived from projects that have either gone really well or gone
poorly. The seven are:
Continued business justification
Continued business justification means to justify the use of time and resources at
every stage of the project, especially in lower levels and emphasizes the need of a
project to be aligned to the objectives of the organization. It recommends the use of
business case which elaborates the purpose of starting the project, forecasts benefits
of the project, estimates costs of the project including operational costs and timescale
of the project.
Manage by exception
Manage by exception assumes that the day to day management of stage of the project
which is in the agreed tolerance limits of objectives like scope, time, cost and risk
comes under the responsibility of project managers. Only the exception ones are
escalated to senior managers for decisions. This is to efficiently use the time of senior
management.
Learn from experience
Team members that are involved in projects that incorporate PRINCE2 learn from
previous experience. These lessons are then recorded and acted upon. They act as
precedence for new projects and are applied at any given stage of the project. All
lessons used are included in the reports and reviews.
Defined roles and responsibilities
It is crucial for a PRINCE2 project to engage the

Cultural Value of Food as Represented in Advertisements for Dr. Pepper
Yulisa Garcia, Vanessa Rodriguez, Erika Garcia
Texas A M International University
Abstract
In this rhetorical analysis, the value of uniqueness and the use of flavors are
expressed in an ad by Dr. Pepper, a well known and popular company. These values
are found within the appeals of logos, pathos, and ethos. It also states the history of
how this soft drink was created, the creator, and the year it was created. Logos is
expressed when the brand states that it contains 23 flavors and also includes an
image of a bottle with the number 23 as well with other phrases. Pathos is used in the
ad when the company states that no other drink has these flavors, which ... Show more

First was logos, a tool which helps the audience to trust a publication based on its
facts. It uses real information to support the use of logic. Next was pathos, which
appeals to the emotions or what people are feeling. It connects with the audience by
showing or interpreting something the audience relates to or shows interest in.
Lastly, ethos is to what extent the audience trusts an author by relying on their word
and reputation. The author s credentials support what they are trying to convey or the
message they are trying to send to the audience about an ad or announcement.
Historical Context
Created, manufactured, and sold as a unique flavor, Dr. Pepper is the oldest in
soft drinks in American history. Charles Alderton, the creator of Dr. Pepper in
1885, was a pharmacist at Morrison s Old Corner Drug Store, in the small town of
Waco, Texas, where he was in charge of giving medication to the people in Waco. In
his free time, he liked to work at the soda fountain where he would serve carbonated
drinks.
His greatest invention came from the idea of the smell of the different kind of fruit
syrups, and the smell of the drug store he worked in. After giving a sample test of
his new drink to the owner of the drug store, and him liking the taste of it, Alderton
gave his invention a greater opportunity to expand by offering it at the soda fountain.
His creation of this soft drink was exceptional, like no other drink, making other soda

Kerberos Essay
Kerberos and Firewalls
Kerberos
Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in
implementing the software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name
derived from the three headed dog in the Greek mythology used for guarding the
entrance to the underworld. The protocol involves three entities; the first two are
aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center and user while the third
party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two keys.
Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the
key used for encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is
DK (E K(M)) = M
Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M
stands for encrypted text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and
decryption procedures, the decryption process leads to the same plain text as the
original text before encryption.
The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server.
These components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server.
Considering three entities, that is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request
and authentication process works in the following way. The user Z feeds in a
username and password into the client machine, which is encrypted to form a secret
key. The user Z through the client then contacts the authentication server, which in
turn sends the
Ethics And Infinity By Emmanuel Levinas
Ethics and Infinity by Emmanuel Levinas
The works of Emmanuel Levinas are considered to be hugely influential within the
philosophical disciplines of twentieth century ethics and existentialism, but
unfortunately the convolution and misrepresentation of his thinking often results in
miscomprehension of his ideas. Totality and Infinity: A Book on Exteriority is one
of Levinas earlier works (published in 1961 in French and 1969 in English) that has
garnered much attention and praise from writers across a multitude of disciplines
(not just philosophy) for the fact that it deals with the widely applicable subject of
relations toward and perception of the Other from the perspective of the self.
Throughout the book, the author demonstrates the manner in which subjectivity
begins from the idea of perpetuity, and how the infinite is an outcome of the
correlation of self and Other. The main purpose of Levinas work is to find out the
dominance of the Other based on the epiphany of the face. According to his work,
infinite is the beginning or foundation of ethics and, he also declines any ethical
intellectualism. Levinas acknowledges the idea that not every human being is
inherently ethical per se but he or she is an aspiration of Others. Therefore, the
remaining part of this paper will focus on sexuality, which is one of the themes that
the writer encountered Sexual encounter Sex is a powerful act that has the ability to

Persuasive Essay On Becoming A Knight
A knight is a man who served his sovereign or lord as a mounted soldier in armor.
They were well trained fighters, knights were military retainers, often of humble
means, but defined by their military vocation and their ability rather than any
lineages ( Richard). They surfaced in the Middle Ages because it was a time when
Lords needed protections along with their territories. To become a knightwas not easy
there were many steps towards fulfilling knighthood. Not only did it take years of
training to become a knight, but it also took bravery, courtesy, and honor known as
chivalry and courtly love. A man without those qualities did not have what it takes to
play this role. Knights of the Middle Ageswere first and premier warriors who fought
from horseback, wore body covering armor, and used weapons such as swords and
daggers to fight and protect in battle. There were five steps to knighthood,
becoming a knight took years of training, during which a young man learned how
to fight, ride, and behave in proper, knightley manner (Corrick 29). The first step to
becoming a knight was having the right connections because it was very expensive
to buy all the equipment necessary in protecting himself on the battlefield. That
being said a knight usually came from a noble or wealthy family. The upbringing
is the second step, if a boy came from the right family and had the ambition to be a
knight by the age of seven he would have to learn all basic manners and what the

Abstract The traditional energy networks to smart grids transformation can help in
improving the reliability, performance and manageability. An efficient and real time
scheme to detect FDI(False Data Injection) attacks in smart grids, by exploiting
spatial temporal correlations between grid components. False data injection attacks
have recently been introduced as an important class of cyber attacks against smart
grids wide area measurement and monitoring systems. Once the attack is been
detected, the system can take preventive action and alert the manager to take
preventative action to sense the risk and to limit the risk. Defensive strategies is been

What is your first thought of energy resources? Is it something that got to do with
electricity? First of all, I would say that the energy system is not very sustainable
because it can either be sustainable, or not sustainable. The energy resources used by
mankind have grown dramatically and it is affecting the environment by leaving
negative impact to the environment. Not only the government sector, but also the
private sectors that are aware of the environment are trying to find alternatives to
sustainable development to prevent the environment from being destroyed.

Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning
To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality
and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice widely. Biofuels is
much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment
because biofuels would not release any harmful gas such as sulphur and acid
emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels
now are obtained from fermentation of food products, such as corn kernels and
sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a
protest in using food products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a
kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests,
and it produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard
diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants. The usage
of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can
offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of carbon and sulphur
compared with petroleum based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by
biofuels, then the environment

In many occasions, women owned businesses stay at a small scale due to lack of

Ernest Hemingway uses his superbly unique and simple style of writing in Hills
Like White Elephants . He uses short, to the point sentence structure and plenty of
direct dialogue. Many people may believe that this writing style disconnects the
reader and makes it impossible to become emotionally involved, but I disagree. The
style of this short story requires more of the reader, and leads to a more profound
understanding of the underlying meaning and emotion. Hemingway s direct, no
nonsense approach may seem bleak, but actually plays a great role in helping readers
understand the underlying themes of this short story. The whole story is mostly a

Training Employees On Hazardous Materials. Hazardous...
Training Employees on Hazardous Materials Hazardous materials are a very
important part of our environment and workplace. They can cause environmental
issues or they could even cause hurt to humans and animals. However, HAZMAT is
needed for production in some workplaces. There are many businesses that do not
train their employees properly or not at all on hazardous materials. Anyone
transferring, using, touching, or working with hazardous materials should be trained
so they know what to do in case of a serious incident. Not even that, it is just
important to know what kind of hazardous material they are transporting. There are a

p.).
There were 14 employees who did not have any training on HAZMAT. There is
also another incident that states a company failed to properly train their
employees on how to properly package and label HAZMAT product which caused
acceptance of cargo on an airplane that should have not been accepted. These are
just a couple of incidents that discussed in this press release. If those employees
would have been trained, there may not have been a safety incident that caused
fines to these companies. The worst part is, is the employees had no idea what to do
in any of these incidents. They could have been hurt or even caused harm against
others and it would not have necessarily been their fault. One way to reduce these
incidents is risk management. Risk management is a program to reduce risks in a
business in any way possible by forecasting and evaluating. According to the US
Department of Transportation, the Hazardous Materials Safety Program is,
designed to reduce the probability and quantity of hazardous material released and
mitigate release consequences (DOT, 1998, p. 4). This program gives guidelines as
well as consequences. It gives ideas for future and how to plan for an incident. This
guideline also gives ideas of developing the risks and how safe can you be and is
there any other plans to use to become safer. It is always a good idea to be as safe as
possible and you can never be safe enough.
Aristotle And Heidegger s Theories About Ethics
Aristotle and Heidegger have contrasting theories about ethics. As Heidegger wrote
his theories two thousand years later, it comes to question, is Heidegger is just
contrasting Aristotle because as later stated it is hard to achieve both theories at the
same time. Aristotle main points are trying to pursue excellence with reason and
Heidegger compares one s authentic self and inauthentic self. This paper is discussing
each philosophical theory pertaining to ethics and how these two philosophers relate
to each other.
The Aristotle book Nicomachean Ethics goes deep in understanding of excellence and
virtues and what humans strive to the highest good and pursue a life of
gratification. Specifically, Aristotle makes a distinction between pursuing ends to a
mean. As Schwab (2016, April 26) states, To be worthy of choice requires that
something either be an end, or serve an end. He then discusses that we decide what
we care about about is meaningful to us individually but overall makes us happy. For
example, Aristotle states, Hence its end will include the ends of the other sciences,
and so will be the human good. (Aristotle, 1094b5) Two ways of pursuing this is
through good means and good ends. Although, the end might not always be what the
original thought of it was. It might only be a stepping stone to reach the ultimate goal.
As humans, we are always trying for the good that is superior than the rest. For
example, pursuing an end to get a college education. That might

that satisfactorily end points are realized, and (4) selectively reactive with the analyte

The Main Factors And Effects Of The Movement Of
Modernism
The movement of modernism is a movement that has been associated with the
transformation of the western societies through development of industrial societies
that then resulted to the development of cities. It is a movement that was conceived
through the need to develop after the catastrophic events of the world wars. One of
the main factors that the modernism has influenced is the aspect of architecture. The
movement was developed as a way to reject and relinquish the traditional procedures
of planning and adopting better and new methods that are capable of improving the
social condition of people .

By this he meant that if they can sell the items the public will buy then the result will
be to make money. If they can satisfy the needs of the consumers then they will
receive bountiful rewards. In Smith s head this system not only makes the baker,
butcher, and brewer wealthy, but also the nation as a whole. When the citizens are
working productively to make themselves better then the nation will prosper too. In
today s society the invisible hand theory seems to lead capitalism and free markets
efficiently through controversy of supply and demandfor deficient resources, other
than for the benefit of an individual.
The Wealth of Nations argues that division of labor and the specializing in work will
yield abundance. Smith states, It is the great multiplication of the productions of all
the different arts, in consequence of the division of labor, which occasions, in a well
governed society, that universal opulence which extends itself to the lowest ranks of
the people . The ideas that Smith presents in The Wealth of Nations has effectively

rarely based on theoretical criteria but rather the policies and interpretations. Another
equally argued disagreement between the two was the economic method and
exchange value. Ricardo used costs to figure the value but wanted labor to be the one
significant exchange value. Malthus argued that there should be a cost analysis
integrated with the supply and demand scheme. Malthus tried to explain the measure

Governments Censoring Internet Content
This paper explores the pros and cons of government involvement in controlling the
content of the Internet. Everyday technology is getting more sophisticated, meaning
that nowadays it is easy to explore about a certain issue via online connection and be
near the world. In the present, as long as you have Internetconnection, you have the
ability to have access to all kind of information that is posted on Internet. There is a
huge debate whether internet should be regulated or not, and this is excepted to
continue in the upcoming years. Those who support the information epoch, tend to
consider Internet to be essential and productive in educating its population. However,

According to Leatherman (1993), Freedom of speech meant not only freedom from
any form of governmental control, but also freedom from private social pressures
that could also inhibit thought and opinion . As long as people belong to a society,
they have the right to be free form any governmental inference. The word itself
censoring means limitation, which limits people ideas and imaginations. If for any
reason government decides to censor some Internet media for offensive reasons
then as Leatherman stated (1993), What may be offensive to one person may not be
to another . This clearly explains that you cannot base your reasoning by making all
people the same. As a matter of fact, parents are the one who should be more careful
educating their children in order to not allow civil liberties to be restricted. The
notion of censorship means that government decides what is good and bad for
society, illustrating the power that they have.
Conversely, the proponents argue that censorship is used to protect social norms. In
other words, censoring means protecting people from harmful content which
influences people s behavior. As long as, people have the right to post anything they
wish on the Internet, they are incapable to think about consequences. They do not
consider the surrounding how it might be affected, but they aim just their voice to be
heard. Therefore, government, which deals with public policy, considers
The Luxor Temple And Saint Peter s Basilica
I.OVERVIEW
The two pieces of art that I have chosen to compare are The Luxor Temple located
in Luxor, Egypt and Saint Peter s Basilica located within Vatican City of Rome,
Italy. The ancient design has fostered some of its styles and characteristics into
future generations, and also upheld the mysteries of phenomenal architecture over
the centuries. I believe the Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s Basilica are good pieces
for comparison. The details and the architectural features between both of these great
Arts show ingenuity, symmetry, geometry and balance from two very diverse time
periods. The aspects of their values, religious beliefs, culture, and mythology play
key roles in the beliefs of both timepieces of Art. The architectural medium is not
only impressive, but it is captivating to the eye as well. One can only marvel at the
unique wonders of ancient civilization.

Histamine Diet Benefits
Benefits of a Low Histamine Diet for Allergies and More
When you experience an allergic or inflammatory response, histamines are produced
within your body, causing smooth muscle contraction and capillary dilation, (as well
as those annoying bouts of sneezing, wheezing, itching, and generally being
miserable).
Histamine is in your body to protect it and keep it safe from potential poisons. At the
right level, you hardly even notice it.
However, if you have a condition called histamine intolerance, your body gives you
no choice but to notice.
Histamine isn t only found in your body. It is also in your food. Or, to put it more
accurately, it s the bacteria on food which naturally produce histamine as part of their
metabolic process.

King Henry Viii s Life And Accomplishments
King Henry VIII was born on the 28th of June 1491 in Greenwich. He was the
second son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York and had three siblings; Arthur,
Margaret and Mary.
At the age of 17, Henry married Catherine (his brother s widow) and they were
crowned King and Queen of England in Westminster Abbey.
In 1516, Queen Catherine gave birth to King Henry s first child, Princess Mary. But
Henry was mad because he wanted a male heir. By the time Catherine was 42 and
unable to have a child he started seeing Anne Boleyn in secret. King Henry VIII still
wanted a male heir so he needed to find a way to end his marriage with Catherine, but
divorce wasn t allowed in the Catholic Church. Then, Anne Boleyn became pregnant
so Henry asked the Pope for an annulment but ... Show more content on

Anne Boleyn had failed to give him a son, so he became interested in one of her
ladies in waiting, Jane Seymour. In an effort to get a divorce, Henry came up with a
long story and lied about crimes Anne had committed. He accused her of adultery,
incestory and plotting to kill him. In 1536 Anne was trailed and beheaded. The next
day King Henry VIII married his third wife, Jane Seymour.
In 1537, Jane gave birth to the son King Henry VII had longed. His name was
Edward. Unfortunately, Jane died nine days later because of an infection. Henry was
heartbroken because she was his only true wife and had produced a son for him. It
took him three years to marry again.
Henry s next wife was named Ann and was the sister of the Duke of Cleves. They
had not met before marrying and Henry did not like her when they met. After six
months they had divorced. Then he married Catherine Howard, the cousin to Anne
Boleyn, but she was only 19 and he was 49. They were happy at first but after time
she started to become more interested in men her own age, rather than Henry. She
was guilty of adultery and was beheaded on the 13th of February

Modern technology has added a new ingredient to this mix the Internet. The Internet
can be regarded as a cheaper and improved version of the self education resources.
Some people like to take exam in a classroom is traditional manual examination

Examples Of Risk Taking In Beowulf
If you want it, go for it. Take a risk. Don t always play it safe or you just might die
wondering. Every day we take risks, whether you know it or not. Some risks might
be good some might be bad but we will never know if we don t take them. Risk
taking happens from the time we wake up in the morning till the time we go to bed.
In class we read Are Genetically Modified Foods Scary?, Blackheart, and Beowulf
with in all of these story they all involve risktaking in some way. In the story Are
Genetically Modified Foods Scary? we learned that people take risks just within the
foods that we eat. Most people eat Genetically Modified Foods (GMO) on a daily
basis weather they know what is in there food or not. Although most scientists... Show

Recycling Vs Recycling
The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to
start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper,
metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of
money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide
incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to
recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for
manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few
short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make
them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a
landfillfor hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it
with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled
again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each.
Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it
is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even
more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from
gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for
people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of
transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such
as steam
Online Fraud and Identity Theft
Introduction:
Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes statistically according to the Federal
Trade Commission. Roughly 27.3 million Americans have fallen victim to this form
of theft/fraud. According to last year the loss of money for businesses and financial
institutions are in the billions and with consumers out of pocket expenses has been
about 5 billion dollars. Identity theft refers to crimes in which someone wrongfully
obtains and uses another person s personal data (i.e., name, date of birth, social
security number, driver s license number, and your financial identity credit card, bank
account and phone card numbers) in some way that involves fraud or deception,
typically for economic gain (to obtain money or ... Show more content on

Fraud is a broad strokes definition; fraud is a deliberate misrepresentation which
causes another person to suffer damages, usually monetary losses. Most people
consider the act of lying to be fraudulent, but in a legal sense lying is only one
small element of actual fraud. A salesman may lie about his name, eye color, place
of birth and family, but as long as he remains truthful about the product he sells, he
will not be found guilty of fraud. There must be a deliberate misrepresentation of
the product s condition and actual monetary damages must occur. Online fraud is
costing about 2.6 billion dollars a year and continues to grow at a rate of 700
million dollars a year. High fraud rates continue to plague electronic commerce Web
sites, with criminals expected to steal $2.6 billion from online merchants this year,
according to a new survey.
While that s an annual increase of $700 million, the percent increase is roughly
equal to the increase in total Net sales, so rates of fraud stayed essentially the same
about 2 percent of sales according to the survey, conducted by CyberSource Corp. As
Shakespeare wrote But he that filches from me my good name/Robs me of that

The short answer is that identity theft is a crime. Identity theft and identity fraud are
terms used to refer to all
Synthesis Of Dulcin Synthesis
Introduction
There is a demand for artificial sweeteners because people want to control their
intake of sugar. Saccharin, cyclamates, aspartame, as well as Dulcin, are some
sugars that fulfill the need for sweeteners to be of low caloric content. Some of the
sweeteners, such as Dulcin, are now considered to yield undesirable health effects
with long term use. Dulcin is 250 times sweeter than table sugar. The synthesis of
Dulcin was done in order to calculate the percent yield. The lesson of this
experiment was to learn how to synthesize Dulcin from phenetidine and potassium
cyanate (KOCN). During the experiment, Dulcin was synthezided in the presence of
water and acetic acid, which were the solvents. Hydrocyanic acid (HOCN) was
formed from the acetic acid and KOCN (Scheme 1 equation 1). Then the HOCN will
react with phenetidine to make Dulcin (Scheme 1 equation 2).
Scheme 1: Steps in Dulcin Synthesis. The apparatus used was the vacuum filtration,
which is faster than the gravity filtration and can only be used with a BГјchner
funnel. When using the BГјchner funnel, a filter paper needs to be inside of the
funnel, as well as, a rubber stopper placed on the funnel to guarantee a good seal.
After the experiment was completed, a pure sample of Dulcin was obtained
because the exact melting point was determined to be 171.5 172.1В°C while the
literature value was 173 174В°C which is a narrow range. The Rf values also
support the reasoning that Dulcin is pure because the Rf value for

The Count Of Monte Cristo Summary
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas was completed in 1844, and is
one of his most well known works, along with The Three Musketeers. Originally
published in the Journal des DГ©bats in a serial of eighteen parts, the novel
appeared in book form in Paris by PГ©tion in 18 volumes with the first two issued
in 1844 and the remaining sixteen in 1845. The story takes place in France, Italy,
and islands in the Mediterranean Sea in 1815 1839. This means that the story
occurs during the era of the Bourbon Restoration, and begins just before the
Hundred Days period. The story follows Edmond DantГЁs through the changes in
personality in an attempt to seek revenge on those who ruined his almost perfect
life. Dumas seeks to show the results of jealousy and revenge, love and happiness
in this literary classic. The story opens in Marseilles with a crowd watching the
ship Pharaon come into port. Among the crowd is the owner of the ship, Monsieur
Morrel, who is informed that the captain of the ship passed away at sea. The ship s
first mate, and the protagonist, DantГЁs assures Morrel that the ship ran smoothly
after the loss of the captain. The ship s supercargo Danglars, jealous of DantГЁs
abilities and praise, tries to tarnish the laudation by informing Morrel that DantГЁs
made a stop at Elba. DantГЁs replies it was under the wishes of the captain, to which
Morrel congratulates him for following the man s dying wishes. Morrel declares that
after speaking to his partner, DantГЁs

  • 1. Example Of A Memoir Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Example of a Memoir Essay" can present a unique set of challenges. First and foremost, the genre of memoir demands a delicate balance between personal reflection and universal resonance. One needs to delve into personal experiences, emotions, and memories, translating them into a narrative that not only captures the essence of the individual but also engages a wider audience. The difficulty lies in the art of introspection, as writers must navigate through their own memories and emotions with honesty and vulnerability. Revisiting significant events, exploring the impact of those moments, and weaving them into a coherent narrative requires a profound level of self-awareness. Moreover, the challenge extends to finding the right voice, tone, and structure to convey the richness of the experience without losing the reader's interest. Additionally, the task involves the skillful use of language to evoke emotions and create a vivid, immersive experience for the reader. Striking a balance between descriptive language and maintaining a smooth narrative flow is crucial. The writer must choose words carefully to convey the emotional nuances of the memoir without becoming overly sentimental or detached. Moreover, the challenge lies in making the personal story relatable to a diverse audience. While the essay revolves around individual experiences, the narrative should transcend personal boundaries and resonate with readers from various backgrounds. Achieving this universality without losing the authenticity of the personal story demands a delicate touch. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of a memoir is a complex endeavor. It necessitates a deep exploration of personal experiences, a keen understanding of storytelling techniques, and the ability to connect with readers on a universal level. Despite the inherent challenges, the process offers a rewarding opportunity for self-discovery and the creation of a narrative that has the potential to leave a lasting impact. The justices are not immune to possessing political ideologies and similarly to the American public, those ideologies impact their lives to varying degrees. The facet of judicial politics explored in this paper is decision making and the impact of ideology. While it would be ideal for the Supreme Court to have zero influences other than the constitution, it is also wishful thinking. Author Jeffrey Toobin agrees with political scientists that the justices of the United States Supreme Court make decisions and rulings that are a result of their ideologies and personal values. He says, All justices have a political ideology as well as a legal philosophy that s a big reason presidents choose them in the first place. Perhaps the most astute opinion on this matter comes from Justice Sonia Sotomayor: The aspiration to impartiality is just that it s an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others. Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see Toobin s own statements often reflect the argument that he attempts to prove about the justices being in line with the attitudinal model. He writes, The justices built their judicial philosophies on the foundation of their prior lives. The question is, to what extent do justices allow their personal values and experiences to impact their court duties? The idea that the justices are

Sexualized Culture and its Effects on Hyper Sexuality Disorder Matthew Ponsock Wright State University English 2100 32 Sexualized Culture and Its Effects on Hyper Sexuality Disorder Hyper sexuality, sexual compulsivity, sexual addiction, and even out of control sexual behavior, are all terms that relate to the same thing: hyper sexuality disorder. Hyper sexuality disorder is one in which a person experiences extremely frequent or suddenly increased sexual urges or sexual activity. Influenced by both physiological and psychological impulses, hyper sexuality leads to emotional and physical distress. The sexualized nature of the American culture combined with the overwhelming amount of online pornography is a major contributing factor to the prevalence of hyper sexuality disorder. Sex is seen everywhere, in advertising, entertainment, pop culture, and daily life, and has become intensely intrusive at a psychological level within people. Because of the ever growing amount of pornography and sex seen throughout our everyday lives, it is no wonder that those that become sex addicts have personal distress resulting in affected function. The saturation of our pornified culture contributes to the development of a hyper sexuality disorder, which affects behavior, cognitive processes, and lifestyle. Discussion Society American culture is saturated with pornography, sexual discourse, and sexualized images. Sex has infiltrated every aspect of American life and its over reaching
  • 4. The Chocolate War Analysis You can put a band aid on a cut but nothing can heal your mind. Within The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, Archie Costello s psychological tactics of violence are more useful than Emile Janza s physical tactics. Archie manipulates the student body of Trinity with mind games such as the assignments. Meanwhile, Emile is not very manipulative, he uses brutal and physically hurtful ways to get to people. Archie is more effective of getting what he wants with using his tactics of mind games, rather than Emile s brutal ways. Throughout Trinity, Archie Costello makes the lives of the student body scarce. Part of this is his psychological stratagems. With the assignments he comes up with, many of the kids tend to fall apart, like Goober. When selling the chocolates, The Goober s breath came fast. But otherwise he felt nothing. He willed himself to feel nothing. He didn t feel rotten. He didn t feel like a traitor. He didn t feel small and cowardly. And if he didn t feel all of these things, then why was he crying all the way to his locker (Cormier 211). Goober is not selling the chocolates because he wants to stand up for Jerry, but Archie stops this. He manipulates it and makes it seem as if Goober had sold all of them, defeating Goober s purpose. With something as simple as this, Goober is in emotional pain and much instability. Secondly, Archie even has a way to effectively torture Janza. Throughout, Archie repeatedly tells Emile that he has an inappropriate picture of him,

When many if not most of the people at the time were essentially broke, food became a big problem, especially for those living in the cities because they could not step out their back door and pick a hand full of corn or tomatoes for dinner, or grab the hatchet and go collect Sunday dinner from the henhouse. Their food was processed by others and then delivered to stores, but soon the deliveries stopped because the meat packing plants closed, the delivery drivers were laid off, and many merchants shuttered their doors. If you buy meat in bulk do not let it set in the Fridge until it spoils, get it into the freezer the day you brought it home. Fresh meat spoils within days even when stored under refrigeration, so if you waste time you will end up wasting food. Shop with a list and stick to it, but it takes planning because you will need to know what meals you want to prepare for the next few days. Buy just enough for the meals you have planned, which brings us to cooking at home. Do you know how to cook, because eating out rarely saves you money on your grocery bill? You have to have a certain throwing motion to be able to make them break/move. You also need to be able to throw the ball at the right speed and the speed with your arm motion has to be a certain speed as well. There are three breaking balls that can make or break a pitcher in the MLB. The first pitch that I will talk about is the knuckleball. Knuckleballs are one of the hardest pitches to consistently control because it seems to just float in the air and can t be easily placed. The NPR says, throw the knuckleball a pitch that can make even the best hitters look helpless. The knuckleball is a crazy pitch that can trick many batters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most important finger to be able to throw the curveball is the middle finger. The pitcher will find a seam that will give resistance to the middle finger to get more control and spin on the ball. This is how the spin on the curveball is so tight. According to Steven Ellis, The throwing elbow must be equal to or slightly above the throwing shoulder. You must stay over the top when you throw the curveball. Throwing it when it s under your shoulder then you put additional stress on your arm. Also if the arm is at an angle larger than 90 degrees then it also puts additional stress on your arm. The placement of your arm will be alot closer to your head then you re normal fastball. It will be slightly up and away from your ear. When you release the curveball you want to release it out in front of you. The way you release the ball is the type of action you want the pitch to have. When releasing a curveball, your wrist will be hooked and your hand will pull down in front of your body, says Steven Ellis. The further you release the ball from your head, the less grip you will have on the ball, resulting in a looser spin on your pitch. It is extremely important that you maintain similar arm speed with your curveball that you have with your fastball. A hitter reads arm speed. says Steven

The Things They Carried Journal Assignment Katie Bishop Period 2 The Things They Carried Journal Assignment The things the soldiers carried defined their character, both the physical things and the metaphorical things. All of the men physically carried their gear, which included things like their helmet, jungle boots, grenades, firearms, and sometimes each other. Mentally they had to carry their brutal memories of war and the terrible things they encountered. 1st Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letter from his girlfriend Martha, 2 photographs of her, and a pebble good luck charm; all of these things show that he is compassionate and cares deeply about his girlfriend. He also carried the lives of his men on his shoulders. Dave Jensen can be characterized as a hygienic person; he carried extra socks, a toothbrush, floss, soap, and foot powder. Along with his hygienic items, he carried a rabbit s foot for good luck. Many other men carried things that symbolized important things; Norman Bowker carried a tongue from an enemy and a diary, Rat Kiley carried comic books, and Kiowa carried a pair of moccasins, an illustrated new testament, and his grandfather s hatchet. Each man carried memories, stress, and knowledge. Personally I carry memories, that are each important in their own ways, and I carry a little wooden lady bug with me for good luck. • 10. British Immigration After 1945 Immigration became a significant part of society in the post war period, it redefined the public s perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is worth noting that immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had welcomed refugees in the past, notably the Irish who became one of the largest groups throughout the 20th century. Many Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930 ; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among Britain s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. However, despite the progress that has been made due to immigration, the reaction of the people wasn t always as positive, subsequently leading to racial tensions and a lack of respect among the people for immigration. These aspects are very significant when discussing the development of

  • 12. Joan Of Arc Argument Joan of Arc was a teenage girl who heard visions from God to lead an army. She believed that God s plan for France was to push the English Kingdom out. She approached the king with the statement that she was from God and that was her message that she was bringing God into the war. Joan proved that a woman could lead a battlefield but the end result is unfortunate. Joan had nothing to fear because God was on her side and sent her to do this, lead an army. Joan eventually becomes sentenced as a heretic after failing her one day given mission to kick the English out of France and take Paris. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trial was to show that Joan is a heretic and that the messages were not from God. There s a fantastic amount of evidence from the trial because the English wanted it to stand as a historical testimonial to the truth that Joan was indeed a heretic. As the interrogations grew more intense, she was pushed to give greater details and concrete information of the voices and sounds she was hearing as well as images. The more descriptive Joan became the less credible and trustable her word was. Her claims are then rather seen as human fabrications or from the devil. Joan is trying to make truth of it though for she has no clue or theological training. She s telling them what they want to hear without even realizing it because she whole heartedly believes it. When it came down to the deliberations, Forty seven masters gave their opinions; most stated their support for the decisions of the University of Paris, that unless Joan abjured, she should be condemned as a heretic and delivered to secular justice; some also recommended that Joan be warned one last time; some said that the case could be concluded and the sentence pronounced on the same day; some deferred to the judges for subsequent procedure. 13 Joan fears for what the verdict could be and recants, Then in the presence of the above and before a great crowd of clergy and people, she pronounced her recantation and abjuration, according to the text of a certain schedule in French that was read for her, which she pronounced and signed with her hand [...]. 14 Her head is then shaved and she is put back into prison because she had accepted that she was a

Gaines novel A Lesson Before Dying, Grant Wiggins and Jefferson s struggles are evident in the institutional racism and segregation which is strengthened by the racial stereotyping in the 1930s and 1940s. In A Lesson Before Dying, Jefferson, an African American man, is sentenced to the death penalty due to ignorantly agreeing to go to Mr. GropГ© s store with Brother and Bear; when Brother and Bear rob the store, the gunfire leaves Jefferson as the only survivor. Although Jefferson is not guilty of any crime and there is lack of sufficient evidence, the racial discrimination and stereotyping rampant in the small town of Bayonne, Louisiana result in his sentence to death. The concentration of poverty is closely related to residential segregation in which public schools with higher percentages of black and minority students are overwhelmed with poverty (Collins and Williams). During the 1930s and 40s, fewer blacks were enrolled in school than whites, and many were often taken from school to tend to their families farms (Brooker). White schools often received more public money than black schools; supplies in African American schools were often handed down from white schools (Brooker). This is exemplified in A Lesson Before Dying during Dr. Joseph Morgan s visit to Grant s school when Grant tells him that the books uses are hand me downs from the white schools and that they have been missing pages (Gaines 57). Blacks in urban schools often have inferior classes and a lower level of achievement in comparison to the white students in the same region (Collins and Williams). This led to the creation of the stereotype that all African Americans are unintelligent. During the trial in A Lesson Before Dying, Jefferson s defense attorney refers to him as a fool and states that his skull here holds no plans (Gaines 7). He later elaborates by explaining that Jefferson is so ignorant that he does not even know the months of the year, and that he is so foolish that he would just as soon put a hog in the

  • 27. Kerberos Essay Kerberos and Firewalls Kerberos Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in implementing the software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name derived from the three headed dog in the Greek mythology used for guarding the entrance to the underworld. The protocol involves three entities; the first two are aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center and user while the third party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two keys. Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the key used for encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is DK (E K(M)) = M Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M stands for encrypted text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and decryption procedures, the decryption process leads to the same plain text as the original text before encryption. The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server. These components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server. Considering three entities, that is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request and authentication process works in the following way. The user Z feeds in a username and password into the client machine, which is encrypted to form a secret key. The user Z through the client then contacts the authentication server, which in turn sends the

Ethics And Infinity By Emmanuel Levinas Ethics and Infinity by Emmanuel Levinas The works of Emmanuel Levinas are considered to be hugely influential within the philosophical disciplines of twentieth century ethics and existentialism, but unfortunately the convolution and misrepresentation of his thinking often results in miscomprehension of his ideas. Totality and Infinity: A Book on Exteriority is one of Levinas earlier works (published in 1961 in French and 1969 in English) that has garnered much attention and praise from writers across a multitude of disciplines (not just philosophy) for the fact that it deals with the widely applicable subject of relations toward and perception of the Other from the perspective of the self. Throughout the book, the author demonstrates the manner in which subjectivity begins from the idea of perpetuity, and how the infinite is an outcome of the correlation of self and Other. The main purpose of Levinas work is to find out the dominance of the Other based on the epiphany of the face. According to his work, infinite is the beginning or foundation of ethics and, he also declines any ethical intellectualism. Levinas acknowledges the idea that not every human being is inherently ethical per se but he or she is an aspiration of Others. Therefore, the remaining part of this paper will focus on sexuality, which is one of the themes that the writer encountered Sexual encounter Sex is a powerful act that has the ability to transform an individual s self experience, change

They were well trained fighters, knights were military retainers, often of humble means, but defined by their military vocation and their ability rather than any lineages ( Richard). They surfaced in the Middle Ages because it was a time when Lords needed protections along with their territories. To become a knightwas not easy there were many steps towards fulfilling knighthood. Not only did it take years of training to become a knight, but it also took bravery, courtesy, and honor known as chivalry and courtly love. A man without those qualities did not have what it takes to play this role. Knights of the Middle Ageswere first and premier warriors who fought from horseback, wore body covering armor, and used weapons such as swords and daggers to fight and protect in battle. There were five steps to knighthood, becoming a knight took years of training, during which a young man learned how to fight, ride, and behave in proper, knightley manner (Corrick 29). The first step to becoming a knight was having the right connections because it was very expensive to buy all the equipment necessary in protecting himself on the battlefield. That being said a knight usually came from a noble or wealthy family. The upbringing is the second step, if a boy came from the right family and had the ambition to be a knight by the age of seven he would have to learn all basic manners and what the role of a

Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice widely. Biofuels is much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment because biofuels would not release any harmful gas such as sulphur and acid emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels now are obtained from fermentation of food products, such as corn kernels and sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a protest in using food products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests, and it produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants. The usage of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of carbon and sulphur compared with petroleum based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by biofuels, then the environment

These are just a couple of incidents that discussed in this press release. If those employees would have been trained, there may not have been a safety incident that caused fines to these companies. The worst part is, is the employees had no idea what to do in any of these incidents. They could have been hurt or even caused harm against others and it would not have necessarily been their fault. One way to reduce these incidents is risk management. Risk management is a program to reduce risks in a business in any way possible by forecasting and evaluating. According to the US Department of Transportation, the Hazardous Materials Safety Program is, designed to reduce the probability and quantity of hazardous material released and mitigate release consequences (DOT, 1998, p. 4). This program gives guidelines as well as consequences. It gives ideas for future and how to plan for an incident. This guideline also gives ideas of developing the risks and how safe can you be and is there any other plans to use to become safer. It is always a good idea to be as safe as possible and you can never be safe enough.

As Heidegger wrote his theories two thousand years later, it comes to question, is Heidegger is just contrasting Aristotle because as later stated it is hard to achieve both theories at the same time. Aristotle main points are trying to pursue excellence with reason and Heidegger compares one s authentic self and inauthentic self. This paper is discussing each philosophical theory pertaining to ethics and how these two philosophers relate to each other. The Aristotle book Nicomachean Ethics goes deep in understanding of excellence and virtues and what humans strive to the highest good and pursue a life of gratification. Specifically, Aristotle makes a distinction between pursuing ends to a mean. As Schwab (2016, April 26) states, To be worthy of choice requires that something either be an end, or serve an end. He then discusses that we decide what we care about about is meaningful to us individually but overall makes us happy. For example, Aristotle states, Hence its end will include the ends of the other sciences, and so will be the human good. (Aristotle, 1094b5) Two ways of pursuing this is through good means and good ends. Although, the end might not always be what the original thought of it was. According to Leatherman (1993), Freedom of speech meant not only freedom from any form of governmental control, but also freedom from private social pressures that could also inhibit thought and opinion . As long as people belong to a society, they have the right to be free form any governmental inference. The word itself censoring means limitation, which limits people ideas and imaginations. If for any reason government decides to censor some Internet media for offensive reasons then as Leatherman stated (1993), What may be offensive to one person may not be to another . This clearly explains that you cannot base your reasoning by making all people the same. As a matter of fact, parents are the one who should be more careful educating their children in order to not allow civil liberties to be restricted. The notion of censorship means that government decides what is good and bad for society, illustrating the power that they have. Conversely, the proponents argue that censorship is used to protect social norms. In other words, censoring means protecting people from harmful content which influences people s behavior. As long as, people have the right to post anything they wish on the Internet, they are incapable to think about consequences. They do not consider the surrounding how it might be affected, but they aim just their voice to be heard. Therefore, government, which deals with public policy, considers

  • 50. Recycling Vs Recycling The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper, metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a landfillfor hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each. Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such as steam

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fraud is a broad strokes definition; fraud is a deliberate misrepresentation which causes another person to suffer damages, usually monetary losses. Most people consider the act of lying to be fraudulent, but in a legal sense lying is only one small element of actual fraud. A salesman may lie about his name, eye color, place of birth and family, but as long as he remains truthful about the product he sells, he will not be found guilty of fraud. There must be a deliberate misrepresentation of the product s condition and actual monetary damages must occur. Online fraud is costing about 2.6 billion dollars a year and continues to grow at a rate of 700 million dollars a year. High fraud rates continue to plague electronic commerce Web sites, with criminals expected to steal $2.6 billion from online merchants this year, according to a new survey. While that s an annual increase of $700 million, the percent increase is roughly equal to the increase in total Net sales, so rates of fraud stayed essentially the same about 2 percent of sales according to the survey, conducted by CyberSource Corp. • 52. Synthesis Of Dulcin Synthesis Introduction There is a demand for artificial sweeteners because people want to control their intake of sugar. Saccharin, cyclamates, aspartame, as well as Dulcin, are some sugars that fulfill the need for sweeteners to be of low caloric content. Some of the sweeteners, such as Dulcin, are now considered to yield undesirable health effects with long term use. Dulcin is 250 times sweeter than table sugar. The synthesis of Dulcin was done in order to calculate the percent yield. The lesson of this experiment was to learn how to synthesize Dulcin from phenetidine and potassium cyanate (KOCN). During the experiment, Dulcin was synthezided in the presence of water and acetic acid, which were the solvents. Hydrocyanic acid (HOCN) was formed from the acetic acid and KOCN (Scheme 1 equation 1). Then the HOCN will react with phenetidine to make Dulcin (Scheme 1 equation 2). Scheme 1: Steps in Dulcin Synthesis. The apparatus used was the vacuum filtration, which is faster than the gravity filtration and can only be used with a BГјchner funnel. When using the BГјchner funnel, a filter paper needs to be inside of the funnel, as well as, a rubber stopper placed on the funnel to guarantee a good seal. After the experiment was completed, a pure sample of Dulcin was obtained because the exact melting point was determined to be 171.5 172.1В°C while the literature value was 173 174В°C which is a narrow range. The Rf values also support the reasoning that Dulcin is pure because the Rf value for
