1. EVALUATION QUESTION TWO – How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
2. CODES AND CONVENTIONS Within the world of media it is important that media products that are related combine and work well together. This is something that I have tried to create in my own media product and the ancillary products. I believe that my main product and ancillary texts are effective in combination due t a number of factors, one of which is the fact that they follow the codes and conventions of the same products in the real world.
4. PRINT ADVERT One convention of a print advert is that the image is usually simple and embodies what the documentary is about and what someone could expect to fins within the main media product. This meant taking a picture of somebody’s hair, which I feel I did successfully. This meant that the ancillary task related to the main product in an effective way. Another way the Print advert related to the main product successfully is the graphics I have used in both the print advert and documentary. Both sets of texts are in the same colour which I feel is effective because it meets the requirements of our audience research and gives the products a more professional and themed feel.
5. PRINT ADVERT I feel that the print advert was successful as the image has a good impact on the audience. We chose this image of a blonde girl as we talk about stereotypes of blondes in the documentary. And as the hair is covering the girls face it instantaneously tells the audience what the topic of the documentary is. We used green scissors in the piece as this was a vibrant colour and draws the viewers eye to the fact that the girl in the picture is actually cutting her hair. This leads to the slogan of the documentary ‘highlights and low lights’ this is a clever play on words as it tells your again that the documentary is about hair but also gives you an idea that the documentary is going to looks and the good and bad points about hair today. I feel this picture also shows this, as it looks like the girl has good hair but she seems to be cutting it off telling us that she maybe doesn’t like her hair.

7. RADIO ADVERT The radio advert relates very well to the main product as to give the audience an idea what will be in the documentary we used some of the sound from the vox pops we used. This is also a code and convention of a radio advert. Also the radio advert worked effectively in connection to the main product because we used the same person doing the voice over as we did in the radio advert, meaning again that the radio advert gave the listener an understanding of what the documentary will sound like. The two ancillary tasks work will together as both include the same information and have the catchy slogan to draw in the viewers.
8. RADIO & PRINT ADVERT Both of the adverts have a good impact on the audience as they follow the codes and conventions of radio and print adverts. I feel that they both work well together as they both are attractive, exciting and draw in the viewer/listener in some sort of way. both of the adverts have the correct information on them and both make the viewer want to watch the documentary which is the main purpose of them. I also feel that they work well as a package as they integrate certain things that are in the documentary in to each other. Like the issue with stereotypes of hair is brought up in some way in each of the products so it shows the audience that they are all linked in someway and give the package this professional feel.
9. HOW THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER Together as a package I feel that my products work well. They all relate to each other in some way. the print advert relates to the documentary with the way the text is, the colour and font style, and the clues about the stereotypes of blondes from the picture, matches the information in the documentary about blonde people. There is also a relation with the picture of cutting hair in the print advert, and the fact that there is a interview with hairdressers. Again showing a link to the ancillary tasks and the actual documentary. The radio advert relates to the documentary too, it gives the audience the clue of what the documentary is about form the slogan ‘highlights and low lights’ i.e. The good and bad points about hair. This shows the audience that all three media products containing this theme/slogan work well as a package.
