How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary?

  2. 2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary?
  3. 3. <ul><li>I think that our film, the poster and the radio trailer is very effective in targeting our audience as there is a strong link between them. </li></ul><ul><li>In all three media product we have used military themes. There is little emphasis that he is a teacher in the radio trailer and the film poster as it will give away the twist in the film. I think that this is effective as it does not reveal the whole plot our film. </li></ul>

  5. 5. Use of words <ul><li>Our film poster includes the title, name of the film company, a tagline, release date (coming soon), cast and the film rating. These are crucial information which is needed in a poster as it informs the audience all they need to know about the film. They are also very effective as they create a connection to the film and radio trailer. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Tagline Most film posters include a tagline. Taglines are memorable slogans which summarises the tone of the film. E.g. the tagline for ‘The day after tomorrow’ is: “May 28 where will you be?&quot; Our film tagline is: ‘ One man must stand alone to face his fears’ We decided to keep our tagline simple and catchy. The tagline helps to attract our target audience and tells them the tone of our film. It also informs our target audience that our film is a serious drama film. This shows that our ancillary text is effective and links back to our main product.
  7. 7. Use of image <ul><li>Adobe Photoshop, allowed me to upload digital pictures which we took of our main actor, students and the school building. Photoshop allowed us to manipulate the pictures. For example we were able to combine pictures of a school building and fire to make it look like the building is burning. The burning building has an impact on the audience as it encourages them to watch our film. This shows that our ancillary is effective as it will attract our target audience. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Use of images <ul><li>The main character is wearing an army jacket with a grenade around his waist. He is walking straight toward the camera with confidence. This symbolises that he was in the army. Our ancillary is effective as there is a clear link to the film and therefore will attract the target audience. </li></ul><ul><li>We also have student at the background making funny faces to show that although it is a serious film, it still has elements of comedy in it. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Use of colours <ul><li>We used dark colours for our poster such as red and black to attract the audience and tell them that our film is packed with drama. The poster is effective as it will help to attracts the audience because it uses fire to make it eye catching and grab people’s attentions. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Radio trailer
  11. 11. Uses of voiceover <ul><li>The trailer was very effective and links back to our main product. For example during the trailer a voiceover says ‘The time has come to teach them a lesson’. This line relates to the fact that he a teacher. </li></ul><ul><li>The voiceover linked the radio trailer back to the film as he says: Will this be his last battle?, Starring Olu suenders, Numero Uno presents A One Man War, Coming soon’. This is effective as it inform our target audience all they need to know about our film. </li></ul><ul><li>The tagline ‘One man must stand alone to face his fears’ used in our poster was also used in our radio trailer. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Uses of special effect and music <ul><li>Our group went back to the logic studio to record our radio trailer. We did this so that we can get high quality audio and also it allowed us to add music and special effects such as explosion and gun shot. This makes our radio trailer very effective as it very dramatic and will help to attract our target audience. It also links back to our main product. </li></ul><ul><li>We used the same music used in our montage scene in our radio trailer to attract our audience. This shows that our film trailer relates back to our main product. </li></ul>
  13. 13. <ul><li>Both the poster and the radio trailer are very effective as it can help promote our film to a wide range audience who will be interested in watching a film like ours. </li></ul><ul><li>Although radio trailers are out dated. It is still very useful as it can still reach people from different parts of England. Film posters can also have the same effect as we can feature it magazine and newspaper that will help attract our target audience. For example publishing my poster on teen magazine will ensure that I am reaching my target audience. Overall both my ancillary texts are effective. </li></ul>
