1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
Question 6
2. Samsung galaxy S6
• We decided to use a Samsung galaxy S6 camera
to film our opening sequence. This is because the
S6 has a 4K camera. The S6 can capture 2160p at
30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p. There is however
one disadvantage to using the Samsung galaxy s6
over a camera and that is to zoom in and out you
have to do move your fingers on the screen. This
can be an issue as to can jolt the camera or you
can move to which can make the shot shake. The
camera is really good and was definitely a good
one to use for filming.
3. iMovie
• From doing media studies I have learnt how to
use iMovie to edit videos and put them together.
I have also learnt how to add in sound effects and
add text over the shots. Before doing this course I
had no idea how to use iMovie or edit clips.
4. Blogger
• From doing A- level media studies I had to
create a blog on blogger and use that To
upload and showcase my work. At first I didn’t
know how to create a post on the website or
embed any different types of presentation. I
can now do all of this.
5. YouTube
• I learnt how to upload videos to my YouTube
channel like our final edit of our opening
sequence. I had used YouTube a lot before
starting the course. This was mainly for
watching different videos from different
channels. I had no issues with the website and
I can now upload content to my channel if I
want to.
6. Prezi
• I used Prezi to present a couple of my tasks in
different more creative ways. Prezi shows all
of the information you add in bubbles and it
shows each bubble close up which allows the
audience to read all of the information clearly.
7. Spiderscribe
• Spiderscribe is a website which allowed me to
make clear mind maps. This was useful to me
as it allowed me to express my information
clearly and in a more creative way. It is also
relatively easy to use.
8. Slideshare
• Slideshare allows you to upload and share
information. You can upload it in different
forms, I prefer to upload PowerPoint's to it. I
used this for a couple of my tasks.
9. Voki
• I used Voki for one of my tasks. Voki allows
you to create a character who says whatever
you tell your character to say. I used it to read
out the information on one of my tasks. I
found it quite annoying to use and I preferred
the other methods of creative presentation.
10. Timetoast
• Timetoast allows you to create timelines to
show information I only used this for one task
because I only needed to show a timeline of
information for one task. It was simple to use
and is a good way of making a timeline look
more interesting and appealing.
11. DaFont
• I had used DaFont in GCSE media. However, I
didn't use it that much. DaFont allows you to
download fonts for free and use them. We
used the fonts for our opening credits in our
opening sequence. We had to get an
interesting font to use for our work so we
looked on DaFont.
12. Freesound
• We used Freesound to get sound effects for
our opening sequence. We weren't allowed to
use the default iMovie sound effects so we
had to find alternatives. Freesound doesn't
copyright their sounds which them very useful
as we don't have to worry about copyright
when choosing our sounds.
