HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND
RESEARCH, PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
Examples of technologies
I used.
Camera
◦ I felt confident with using a professional camera as I had used one before in GCSE media as well
as outside of school for photography and at AS level. The camera we used was the Cannon EOS
700D which was slightly more advanced than the camera I had previously worked with although
it wasn't difficult to learn what all the different settings were. When filming we made sure that
we did more than one take of each short second clip as we knew when we got to editing that
some would be better than others. The extra filming definitely paid off as we weren't happy with
some of the clips and so luckily had others that we could work with. Everyone in the group used
the camera and we learnt tips and tricks from each other such as pointers for focusing the
camera, and what angles worked well in terms of lighting. I also experimented with different
settings as well as filters when it came to filming as well as taking pictures for my blog. For
instance I added a green enhancement filter over my realism picture, which really made the
image look bolder and more vivid. We also used the camera to test out different movements
that we could use in our actual video, such as pans, zooms and tilts.
Blogger
• I had some troubles at the start, just getting used to the software and layout,
experimenting to find what looked best on my blog at AS level. However, at A2 I felt
more confident using Blogger and so added some different forms of technology on there
instead of just writing. I found that Blogger was notorious for having sudden technical
difficulties which made using it that much more difficult, especially when it came to font
size and images. At first I was just copying and pasting images into my blog which is why
I was having problems, so I made sure that I saved every picture as a jpeg before
uploading the image to my blog. I used Blogger to post every thing that I had thought,
seen or read in order to showcase my story from start to finish, as progress and thought
process is very important to show.

Creating a logo
• In order to create a logo for my Digipak and Magazine advert, I used
Adobe Illustrator which was easy, quick and simple to use. I personally
enjoyed using the stamp option on the piece of editing software
because it meant that you could create unique and interesting designs
really easily. The two logos that I created, were for a record label and an
online streaming app, and overall I was happy with the end result.
However, I did struggle at first because I had never used the software
before and couldn't find out how to crop images, so I watched Youtube
videos but couldn't find anything. In order to over come this I simply
took a screenshot of the page, cropped it and then saved it as a jpeg.

Premiere Pro
• For the editing process we used Adobe Premiere Pro, which I
was familiar with because I have used it previously. However for
this project I wanted to experiment more with different effects
and transitions. For example, I used cross dissolves and fades
from the transitions icon to create a nice flow to the video, so
that it fit with the pace of the song. We also changed he opacity
on certain shots to make a layering effect that was one of my
favourite editing techniques that we used, especially the time
lapse at the end and the scene where the actors are dancing
together. It made a really nice effect and added a sense of
emotion and fluidity to the final video.

In order to over come this I simply took a screenshot of the page, cropped it and then saved it as a jpeg.
  • 9. Premiere Pro • For the editing process we used Adobe Premiere Pro, which I was familiar with because I have used it previously. However for this project I wanted to experiment more with different effects and transitions. For example, I used cross dissolves and fades from the transitions icon to create a nice flow to the video, so that it fit with the pace of the song. We also changed he opacity on certain shots to make a layering effect that was one of my favourite editing techniques that we used, especially the time lapse at the end and the scene where the actors are dancing together. It made a really nice effect and added a sense of emotion and fluidity to the final video.
