The student learned many new technological skills over the course of their project. They gained experience with video editing software like iMovie and using platforms like YouTube, SlideShare, and Facebook Chat. Filming with DSLR cameras and using tripods improved their video skills. Editing software like iMovie and GarageBand allowed them to create videos and audio for the first time. Blogging platforms like Blogger helped them broadcast their work. Their relationship with and understanding of technology improved as they explored new tools and saw technology's educational benefits.

1. What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this product?

2.  Over the course of the project I experienced a
wide variety of media options and learnt a lot
about such things as editing in iMovie and
using Blogger for our coursework blogs. I’d
never really been part of a filming process
and so cam to terms and now really enjoy
using handheld equipment. My relationship
with technology that I’ve used is far stronger
now as I understand the inner workings.

3.  For this stage I used:
 Youtube
 Slideshare
 Facebook chat

4.  This stage opened up my eyes as I was able
to see that youtube was actually a very useful
research tool for quick, visual answers. As
well as this, I had never used slideshare
before. This made it quick and easy to
transport and embed files and so I was
learning new skills. Facebook chat was very
useful as it allowed my group to share ideas
and discuss in depth and simply furthered my
relationship with facebook.

5.  As previously mentioned, I’d never filmed
with proper equipment before. Using the
DLSR made me appreciate the world from a
wider perspective and the tripod furthered my
skills. This certainly improved my relationship
with technology as I was able to use a greater
range of technological hardware. In terms of
behind the scenes, we simply used iphones,
something everyone is common with.

6.  iMovie and programmes such as garageband
were essential for editing our film. This was
the 1st time I had the chance to create
anything of my own. I therefore gained some
new technological skills. As I had only joined
as a media student at A level, it expanded my
capabilities and I became a big part of my
team, being able to edit in my free time.

7.  All 3 of these mediums were new to me and
became prevalent in my work. Blogger, being
the main base for my work, was essential for
broadcasting my work. Prezi and soundcloud
furthered this as they gave me more ways to
express myself, especially for my evaluation.
Ultimately, more people are able to see the
information and my ideas.

8.  My relationship with technologies used in the
process has certainly improved and it has
broadened my interests in the technological
field. No longer do I see technology as
something that slows educational stimulation
or something that is used for a laugh. Many
different forms of technology actually allow
you to express yourself and discover things
previosly hidden to you.
