2. What I have learnt about technology through making my magazine
are many different techniques, for example when creating my
magazine I used two main tools, Photoshop and InDesign. I used
Photoshop for the editing of my photo and the creation of my
front cover and InDesign for creating my contents page and
Double page spread.
Photoshop is easier to use than InDesign and has more
functions when editing photos, for example the changing of
colors and removing blemishes on the skin making it look
smoother and brighter.
However InDesign has useful tools when dealing with a lot
of text for example a tool called text wrap. Text wrap is a
feature were you wrap text around a typical image, this
technique is used a lot in many different magazine and
newspapers.
I had originally decided t use this when making my double
page spread as it shows different skills in my design but I
chose to change it as it did not look any good in the final
product.

3. When creating your magazines you have to have a set theme or a
brand identity running through your whole magazine which links
to your target audience. For example, for my magazine I did this
with the background and the colour scheme I used.
The background for my magazine is black and white with
an ombre effect from white at the top to black at the
bottom. This allows me to have a theme that corresponds
to the rock genre because if I was making a pop magazine I
would use brighter colours such as purple or a light blue.
This effect is made by using the gradient tool in
Photoshop which I think ties the whole product together,
like I have said before it is related to the rock genre and
works with many other colours as well so no worrying
about what I put on top of it.

4. The colour scheme I used throughout my magazine was made up
of 4 basic colours black, white, red and yellow. Rock magazines
don’t use too many bright colours and keep it basic just like the
magazine “Classic Rock” which mostly uses black.
Also by using these colours it does link in more to a
male gender but also keeps it open to a female
audience. While keeping to these colours I used
effect in Photoshop to make a small background
around an important feature in the magazine making
it stand out and eye catching. The tool implants a
certain effect into a shape which then you can add
colour into making the effect look better.
When creating images for your magazine there are many steps and
areas that you must complete when creating a image for your
magazine for example when taking a picture you have to set the
camera setting correctly or the picture might be blurry. Also if you are
using a set to take the photos you have to position the lights correctly
or there might be shadow on the person’s face who you are taking a
photo of ruining the photo.

5. After you have taken the pictures that you are happy
with then you have to edit them and to edit my
pictures I used Photoshop which was a new to me.
The process of actually editing your picture is harder than it looks
because there are many different effects you can used on a
picture, for example using the contrast tools. Using the contrast
tools can help to brighten or darken areas of the picture making
the picture look better and helping to improve the overall look.
Also if you are turning your picture black and white you
can change the tone of the picture to darker or lighter
making certain parts stick out more than others, I used
this method to create a black and white photo, however I
decided to not use it in my magazine as it did not fit
properly.
