The document describes the process of creating the front cover and contents page for a school magazine. Photoshop was used to edit the main front cover photo by cropping out the background and adjusting the brightness. Quark was then used to layout the front cover, taking advantage of its column features. Similarly, Photoshop was used to edit a photo and change its colors to black and white for the contents page. Quark was then used to layout the contents page following the magazine's color scheme of purple and yellow text.

3. Photoshop CS6
For my front cover of my school magazine, I took a medium close up of someone in my class
for the main image of the magazine. With this photo, I edited the background out in
Photoshop CS6.
I used the Quick Selection tool in Photoshop to crop out the background of the original
photo. Here is a screenshot:
I also edited the brightness of the photo as it was originally very dark, so that this
would stand out more on the front cover. I found that using photoshop was very
useful in editing the main photo.

4. Quark
Next, I used QuarkXPress to create the layout
of the front cover.
This was very useful as the columns helped me
with the layout of the magazine.

5. Photoshop CS6
To create the contents page, I used the two programs QuarkXPress and
Photoshop. Firstly, I edited the photo on Photoshop. I thought the
colours of the original photo did not fit with the colour scheme of the
magazine, so in order to make it suit the colours I changed the colours of
the photo to black and white. This helped with the simplistic design of
the contents page.

6. Quark
Next, I used QuarkXPress. This helped me with the layout of the
contents page. I continued with the main colour scheme, purple
and yellow, for the text on the page.
