Technologies and tools for creating a media product
1. What have you learned about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
2. Websites/Software
I use Facebook to create fake pages that were used
in our product to first introduce the main
characters.
I used the website Pearl & Dean as a way to
research different movies. I mainly looked at
Taken to find information like the main types of
audiences it attracted.
I used the website Slideshare inorder to show
on my blog presentations that i have done. For
example our pitch presentation was embedded
onto my blog via this website.
The website Mahara is where I uploaded
everything that i did for creating this
product.
Freesound.org is a wesite that allows you
to download free sounds incuding music
which we used to get more realistic sounds
in the editing process.
I used the program Final Cut Pro X to create
everything for the opening including the
production company ident. I now feel more
confident using this software because i now
know where to find what i need and any
problems that we found could be corrected.
I used many functions of Google from Drive
to create presentations to image to explain
what i was talking about in my blog. Also to
easily find reliable websites to find
information like the weather on the day of
recording.
The website IMGUR allows you to upload any
images such as screen grabs online which i then
would embd onto my blog.
I used the video sharing website Youtube for
many different reasons including inspiration for a
soundtrack to visuals of police sirens which we
used in the title of our opening.
The website IMDB which stands for the internet database which
contains a lot of information about a wide variety of films. I
used his to further research films and find information like their
budget for production to main actors in relevant films.
I used the program GarageBand which is where we created the
sound for our opening. It was also used to record the speech for the
999 call in our opening which was then edited to make it sound like
we were talking on the phone.
3. Equipment
I used a microphone recorder to capture quality sound for the
recording of our 999 call. It was then edited in garageband to
create our desired sound of somebody being on the phone.
I used a U-shaped bracket to hold the camera when we wanted to move around to
capture more detail at different angles and close up. It was very easy and
comfortable to use and created good quality footage as an outcome. It was also
simple to assemble to attach the camera to securely without it feeling like it was
in danger of falling off.
I used a tripod to attach the camera to so that we could film
steady footage at the correct angles. This meant that our media
product had a higher quality look and felt more professional. It
was easy to attach the camera to and adjust the the right height.
Also the tripod that we used telled us if it was level so we
could move it if it was at an angle.
We used a camera that was very easy to use with
advanced options that made our opening look better
overall. There was a touch screen function which
allowed the camera to focus on that point for
example, someones face.
I used a Mac to create everything that we created.
This was the first time sing a Mac and i found it
easy to use and practical for what we need to do
which was mostly edit.
