hd camera/TripodI used a HD camera to shoot our film as HD camera’s give high resolution to the video. The HD camera gave us a high quality on our filming which is a good thing as it is clear to see our footage.I had difficulty using the tripod has the lever was hard to steer so my panning shot in my opening came out shaky. However the tripod gave me a steady level when I used the camera on it.Using the HD camera gave me experience of how to operate with the camera as I enjoyed it.After we shot our footage we digitalized it to the Macs to edit the clips using our story board.
Final cut proAfter digitalizing our footage to the Macs we imported our footage to final cut pro which is a world wide used software where you edit your clips from the views in to your time line.Using Final Cut Pro was exciting as I got to experiment with it changing where each clip would go.I knew how to use it as I was taught how use the soft ware when we were editing our preliminary task. However, I didn’t know what most of the things on the software did so half the time I was confused on what to do.Now that ive used the software I feel more comfortable in using it again as I know what to do.Once you’ve finished editing you can view your final pieces in the canvas.

After effectsI used after effects to create our titles for our credits, our film title and also our production logo. After effects is very difficult to use as you need to do many things on it as it is a complex software. However, after I started playing around with the software I soon got hang of it and was able to create my credits. We used after effects because this software helps to give effects to the writing such as making the writing have a light travel behind it or have the words fall apart and put back together again. We had a light which glowed behind our production logo but for some reason it would not show up so we had to create another production logo. For our titles we made them blurry with a white glow on it and for our production logo we made it shatter in to pieces.I feel that I now know how to use the software confidently as I came back after school to get extra help on how to use it, spending my own time to learn new things.
garagebandGarageband is a software where you can create your own music using the different setting on the software.I learnt how to use garageband in 15 minutes, coming back after school to learn how to use it. Once I knew what to do I created the theme tune of our thriller in 10 minutes. We decided to make our own music so we didn’t have to get permission to use an existing music. We create a creepy type of music also we used some of the sound effects on the software. The first draft of our music sounded very good however it was too comical at the end so we decided to re-edit it to make it sound more acceptable for a thriller.I really enjoyed playing around with all the sounds and the software was really easy and simple to use however it was limited in the sounds it provided.
SoundCloudI used soundcloud for my blog as it is a online website where you can upload your sounds or music which makes it easier to transfer it to blogger than just uploading on to blogger straight away as that takes too long.It was very helpful but I had a few problems with it as it took too long to upload most of my files and also you only have 2 hours worth of music to upload so once you’ve used that 2 hours you have to pay. Also it affect the quality of the music.
YoutubeYouTube is online website where you can share video with people around the world. They have any videos to watch which helped me to find certain other media students films to help me see what conventions they have used.We used YouTube because we wanted to upload our rough cut online so that we can get a few feedbacks from people. Also we it was an easy way to upload our video on to our blog as we only needed the embedded code. The thing I did not like about the website was that it took ages to upload videos and also you can only upload the video once so I had to make another account to upload my film twice because on one of them I had had speech bubbles of what I have done in my opening.
SlideshareSlideshare is a online website where it helps you to upload your Word and PowerPoint documents on it and then use the embedded code to paste on to your blog (blogger) where your document appears. There was nothing wrong with the website as they produced clear documents and fast uploading. However sometimes the writing font used on the documents are changed to the default fonts as they didn’t accept certain fonts. Also once uploaded, the words are sometimes not seen on the document so you have to go back and edit your document and upload again.
