1. Question 6 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
2. When creating my music magazine, I’ve learnt various technologies and techniques and they have vastly helped to create my media product. During the process of creating my product I regularly blogged about updates and techniques I learnt. My mains source of technology for transferring the photo’s I had taken was a memory stick. I used my camera to take pictures for my magazine. The image on my front cover, I took on my friend’s camera at a gig and it was a 5mp digital camera. InDesign was a huge part in the majority of my coursework. I designed my front cover, contents page and double page spread on InDesign.
3. Here are a few screenshots and techniques I used to create various images . Used the Pen tool to select around my images after zooming in. This is a professional (used in industry) way of selecting an image rather than using the wand tool as it is difficult to use with coloured images. I then selected around each of the artists and placed each person it its own 'path'. I could then place this image onto my main cover afterwards.
4. The performers look good placed together and also i can bunch them together better to make them look more like the group that they are. There colours of the other image make them stand out compared to the background colours. I would then use 'illustrator' and Photoshop to manipulate the image to make it stand out further. There were various options such as 'glow' 'mosaic' etc which allowed me to find the perfect style for the main image.
5. After i decided on what of the images/logo designs i liked i picked my favourite on being it the one with the most enhanced look, this one was created using the pen tool and making that figure eight by freehand. I then enhanced the image by changing it to neon glow and making the lines thicker with use of the ribbon effect on the pen tool options. I then experimented with different font styles using the different fonts available, given that white and black are opposite colours, i used that to make the image and words stand out well against a black background.
6. Many of the features are used throughout the magazine industry and the technologies them self cost thousands of pounds to buy. I mainly used InDesign and Photoshop, both of which are used by some of the leading magazine publishers to produce magazines. There fairly easy to use, InDesign was my favourite for creating the actual page, such as pasting over images from Photoshop. Photoshop on the other hand was used mainly to edit/adjust the pictures.
