Blogger First of all,blogger is the most essential tool out of all the media technologies that I had to learn to use as blogger is what I used to present my work and show the evolution of my product over time. Blogger is very simple and easy to use format ensured that I was able to upload pieces of my work in an organised fashion and keep track of what I had posted. Blogger is also a great piece of technology because it can be used to embed my work i.e. embed my music video into a post so that people to not have to be re-directed from the page that they are on and I find this a very useful tool because it is less hassle for people who are viewing my blog.
- 3. YouTube YouTube played avital role in the research and planning stages of my work as well as helping me discover issues with my products. It helped massively with my research and planning because I was able to look at music videos of the same chosen genre and identify connotations of this specific genre and therefore be able to implement these into my own video. YouTube has endless content, and this means that I was able to view an endless amount of similar products online for free meaning that I was only enhancing my own knowledge on the genre of music that my video represents and therefore YouTube played a large part in us being able to pick the initial concept for our video and also the types of things we could infuse in our video.
- 4. YouTube YouTube was themedia technology which let us show of our work. We were able to upload a first draft of our music video and this helped me gain crucial feedback in order to make the necessary changes and improvements to my video as well as showing off how well we had been able to reinforce the typical codes and conventions of an indie music video. With this feedback taken after people used YouTube to view our first draft of the music video, coupled with my growing knowledge of the indie music genre, I was able to make the correct changes to make my video look more professional.
- 5. Photoshop Adobe Photoshop allowedme to create a digipack which I honestly feel is to a high standard, and looks somewhat professional. This technology allowed me to take photos that I had taken for the digipack and enhance them to look even better. I was able to do this by using the wide variety of tools in Photoshop like cropping tools, shaping tools, erasing tools (to hide unwanted things that would hinder my product) and effects to bring out the best in the photos. Photoshop allowed me to work in layers and I believe that this is why I was able to organise my digipack so well rather than having a cluttered, tacky looking piece of work.
- 6. Wix Wix was themost instrumental piece of technology I used in order to create my website. As part of my course I was required to create a website that could sell the digipack and overall help promote the band. Wix allowed me to integrate links to the bands Twitter and Instagram page which is a vital tool in helping promote the band on social media.
- 7. iMovie The last pieceof technology that I learned to use was iMovie on the macs in school. iMovie was the most creative piece of software that I could use as it allowed me to actually compose the final music video. It was full of tools that let us edit each piece of raw footage to make it suit our needs. For example, there was a colour editing tool within the programme that allowed us to tone down the vibrant colour of the clothes in each raw shot and almost drain the colour from everything to meet the required ‘grubby’ look we were aiming for. iMovie enabled us to also split raw footage which was a very useful tool during production as we were able to cut sections of unwanted footage out of the shot and use footage where and how we wanted to.
