1. Evaluation Question2
How effective isthe combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
One of mymediaproductswascreatingthe filmposterforSnowflake;thiswasone of the ancillary
texts.Creatingthe FilmPosterwasone probablyone of mymostfavourite momentsduringthis
entire productionof Snowflake.Ihadcreatedthe filmposterafterSnowflake(film/mainproduct)
was created, andseeingthe postercomingtolife asIworkedon itmore and more was great.Below
isthe final filmposter.
Snowflake FilmPoster:
As youcan see,The film
posterismainlyblack/
white,thisportraysthe
sense of darknessanda
verysinisterlookfor
the audience tojudge
the filmas beinga
horror/ thrillergenre.
The tagline “A clear
and innocent
conscience hasnothing
to FEAR” isin all
capitals,thisisto
ensure thatthe
audience readsthe
tagline,allowingthem
to interpretthe film
that ‘fear’iscertainly
involvedinSnowflake.
The Snow-globe
shownonthe film
posterwill truly stand
out to the audience,
makingthemwonder
couldthisbe a very
important/vital
objectinSnowflake,
and questionasto
whatit couldmean.
Again,blackand white
was usedinthe film
poster,butnowit was
usedthe title.The
majorityof the Title is
inwhite,incontrast
withthe blackwhich
seemstobeing
overcome bythe white.
Possiblymeaningthat
the ‘darkness’will/can
be overcome bythe
‘light’.
2. How was it linkedto the film?
The filmposterI hadcreatedwas specificallydesignedtobe linkedtothe filmIhaddone this
throughusingsimilarfeaturesandelements,andmostimportantlysimilarconventionsof the
Thriller/Mysterygenre thatwouldusuallybe usedinfilmposters.Inordertoensure that I was
alwaysconsideringthe filminthe productionof the filmposterIfrequentlyreferredbacktothe film
and watcheditover,to gainideasandremindmyself of the mainelementsthatwasusedin
Snowflake. Forexample, Ihadincludedelementssuchashavinga character fromthe filmwithinthe
posterjustaddedto the similaritiesbetweenthe filmandposter,linkingthe twobyhaving
candidate thatis involvedwithtakingthis‘test’whilstthisnew ‘regime’wastakingplace.The film
posteriscoveredinblackand white,thiswasdone intentionally.Blackandwhite isprettymuchthe
theme of Snowflake, inthe sense of ‘innocence’willprevailagainstthe ‘darkness’,therefore this
meantthat the coloursI was able tostick to wasprimarilyblackandwhite tocreate a linked
symbolicimage betweenthe posterandthe film.
How does it promote the film?
Whencreatingthe filmposter,Ialwaysconsideredthe film(snowflake) inmind,Imade sure Iwas
alwaysreferringbackandwatchingthe filmplentyof timesovertoensure thatthe 'feel'wasbeing
portrayedbythe filmposter,afewsecondsagoi showed youmyfilmposterforsnowflake,didyou
notice howdark the filmposterwas?well thiswasdone purposelytocontrastagainstas well aswith
the filmbetweenthe 'darkness'and'light'.if youare familiarwithourfilm'snowflake'youwould
have notice the lightingvariesbetweenone minute beingvery darkandthe nextbeinginthe
lightestof rooms.
Images:
I had usedan image of a candidate whichwascanteredinthe middle of the
poster, thrillerstendtooftenhave amaincharacter onthe frontof the film
poster,usuallyfacingtowardsyou.i howeverwentagainstthistypical
conventionandputmycandidate facingawayfrom the audience inorderto
signifytothe audience thisisnoordinarythriller.
Fonts:
The font i had usedwithinthe filmposterare verytypical fontsthatare usedcommonlyforthe
genre of thriller.itwascalled'SF movie poster'thisfontwasappropriate forsnowflakeasitwas
clearand precise. The fontI have chosenforthe filmposterwere
chosenspecificallytorepresentthe leniencyof the film, thereforeI
chose a clear,sharp and easilyreadablefont.
Colours:
The majorityof the filmposterwasblackandwhite, muchlike otherfilmposterswithinthe Thriller
genre,thisgave the postera verysinisterlookanddidlookeffective.
Tagline:
The tagline was'A clearand innocence consciencehasnothingtofear'thiswas a highly relevant
tagline thatsuitedsnowflakesfilmposterperfectly,once youhave watchedsnowflake youwill
understandexactlywhatthistagline means.
3. How does the filmposter convey genre?
The Snowflake filmpostercanbe questionedasto whatgenre the
filmcouldbelongto,butif youthinkpreciselyonthe featuresof the
filmposteryoucan establishwhatgenre itbelongsto,AsSnowflakeis
a hybridgenre of Thriller/Mystery,youexpecttosee the filmposter
and have questionsraisedinyourmind,Myfilmpostergeneratesa
thoughtinthe viewer/readersmindfromeachindividuallyaspectthatI have thoroughlythought
through,The Snow-globe forinstance,thisisthe same Snow-globe thatisusedinthe film, however
the audience have noclue as to whatthe Snow-globe evenhastodo withthe film, asa result
makingthe audience thinkdeeplyandassumingthatthe filmisa mystery.
As I mentionedearlier,Colours.Colourscanbe a greathelpas to
judgingwhatfilmgenre afilmposterbelongsto,thoughitmaynot
alwaysbe the correct guess, butit couldbe. My filmposterheavily
revolvesaroundblackandwhite;these twocoloursare colours
commonin thriller.Thrillersare veryintense,theycangofrom
beingina scene whichisbrightand sunnyandthe nextintoa dark
room of whichthe audience will have noideawhatwill happen
next.
What audience doesthe filmpostertarget?
My filmposterwouldmostdefinitelytargetthe age range between
16-25, The reasonas to whythe filmposterappliestothe minimal age of 16 ispurelybecause the
filmposterdoesinfacthave a sinisterlooktoit, thiswill mostdefinitelynotbe suitable forthe
youngeraudience asnotonlywoulditnotappeal to children,butparentsmayalsobe concernedas
to whetherthe filmwouldbe appropriate atall fortheirchild. My filmpostercouldalsoattract
mystery/thrillerfilmfans,asthe posterdoes areallygoodjobof beingeffective inthe sense of
intriguingthe audience toactuallywanttoknow what these featuresthatwere intentionallyputon
the filmpostermeans.
Did the audience feedbacksupportthe filmposter?
You’dbe surprisedastohow muchaudience feedbackhelpedtoproduce the final filmposter,Ihad
usedaudience feedbacktoimprove the filmpostertomake itappeal tothe audience more, with
audience feedbackitallowedme toadjustandmake changes, and to as a resultbe an effective
reflectionof the film(Snowflake).Forthe final filmposterIhad gainedfeedbackfromstudentsof my
class,whichallowedthemtopointoutthingsthatstoodout to them, featurestheycouldmake

Firstly,the review doescontainbothstrengthsandweaknessestothe film.Itseemsthe filmseems

6. Summary
All three products(Film,FilmPosterandfilmreview) workextremelywell togetherandare very
effective.Theyclearlycanbe identifiedbythe audience tosharingthe same concept.Withthe
supportof the similaritiesof colours, theme andfontsithadmade the combinationof all three

filmandfilmpostervery interesting,whichcould toattract the audience.
