Evaluation Question 2 How effective is the combination  of your main product and ancillary texts?
I believe that the combination of my main product and my ancillary texts work well together. I found creating the poster and review page for my short film quite challenging, as I had not ever seen any posters or reviews for short films before. This meant that I had to follow the codes and conventions for similar products advertising feature length films, but adapt them slightly where appropriate .
I think that my poster uses an intriguing tagline which makes the audiences want to find out what the film is about. This technique is seen in the poster for ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ poster which I analysed for my research, where the tagline ‘by far the most terrifying film you will ever see’ draws the audience in in a similar way. They are hopefully intrigued further by the picture of Matthew, where although the audience can clearly see that he is the main subject of the film, his face is obscured by shadow. They may also be intrigued by the fact that the title of the film is 'Living with Matthew' leaving them with questions such as 'who is Matthew?' and 'what's so different about living with him?'
I feel that my film answers all of the questions that may be on my audiences mind having seen the poster, as I think the footage I selected to use shows the audience the typical behaviour that Matthew normally displays and the narration gives a more in depth insight into what everyday life is like with him. In the review page I tried to reiterate the point that my film answered any questions the audience would have, but I also asked a focus group to see if they felt the same way.
1. Do you like the poster? Does it intrigue you and entice you to watch the film to find out more information? Does it look realistic and professional? 2. Do you think the film gives a clear and comprehensive insight into what it is like to have a sibling with autism? Did it leave you with any unanswered questions? 3. Do you think the review page looks realistic? Do you like it? Questions I asked; Focus group member 1 Name:  Leanne Saunders Age:  18 Focus group member 2 Name:  Claire Wilkinson Age:  17 Both Leanne and Claire have been friends with me for a long time, so there are both well aware that I have a brother with autism. However, they both admit that they don’t know much about autism as a condition or what sort of impact it really has on my everyday life. Therefore, I will be able to tell whether or not my film gives an in depth insight or whether it will leave my audience with any unanswered questions.
