Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. The responses to this question show that my target audience enjoy the fact that the
storyline is conventional but still differs from other horror films that have already been
made and are popular.
Also another positive feature that the audience liked was that the man character does
not killed himself but is able to explore the murders of the others that have been
killed, until the end when he reveals the outcome of the film.
3. The target audience said that they liked that the storyline is featured around
teenagers, which was a theme that I was adamant on including because that is the
same age as my target audience.
The idea that the film would go back into the past and then to the current day was
very popular, so I will incorporate this into my trailer through the used of flashbacks.
4. I then asked the audience where they thought storyline 1 could be improved so that I
can make it more conventional and appeal to the target audience on a greater scale.
They replied by saying that they thought more characters could be incorporated and
their relationship with the main character explored more. I will make this
improvement by adding more characters to this storyline or future storylines.
5. The audience felt that storyline 2 could be improved by working to make the
storyline seem more realistic and relatable to the target audience.
I will improve this by ensuring that the film is the most conventional and practical
that it can possibly be, whilst still keeping the storyline original and so it stands
out from other horror films.
6. I asked if the audience thought that storyline 1 was conventional for the horror genre, the
responses were positive and helped me to understand that what I have written is correct
and is suitable for the target audience.
7. Similarly to the previous question about storyline 1, I asked the target audience if
storyline 2 was conventional to which the results were still positive, however, one of the
responses disagreed that it was conventional, suggesting that storyline 1 is the better of
the two.
8. To sum up the previous comments of the survey, I asked for the audience to blankly
say their favourite storyline based on the information that they have already
submitted. Storyline 1 came out as the favourite of the two, which I had estimated
from the comments in the previous question (Do you think storyline 2 is
conventional for the genre?)
9. Finally, I asked in relation to the previous question where the audience said which was
there favourite, for them to explain their reasoning for this decision.
The main answer was that storyline 1 was more gripping, so would allow for more
tension to build up and grip the audience more deeply than storyline 2.
Also, they said that storyline 1 was more conventional for the genre and is a more
original idea for a horror film.
