3. Similar Conventions – Front Cover
Both my front cover and the XXL front cover have a red masthead with
white text. They are also both positioned in the top left hand corner of the
page.
Both front covers have a dominant image on them. Although the poses of
the artists are not alike they are still similar in the way they are
positioned on the page.
They both have a simple colour scheme with only three main colours. The
three main colours are black, red and white.
The clothes worn by the artists match the colour scheme of the page.
The sell lines are positioned in similar positions, making use of all the
space on the page.
Rule of thirds are used and the left third contains the main sell line. The

said.

pages.

8. Developing and challenging conventions of
real media products...
Front Cover
I chose to not really challenge the typical conventions used for a front
cover because, after conducting my research, I found that my target
audience which like a clear and professional looking front cover. If I was
to challenge the conventions I would be disregarding my research and
ruining the suitability to my target audience.
Contents Page
I decided to develop the typical conventions of a contents page because
after my research I found that most contents pages were simple and quite
plain. I wanted mine to be striking which is why I chose to adopt a two-
tone colour scheme and use a heavily edited image.
Double Page Spread
During my research I came across some contents pages that had a similar
layout and colour scheme to mine but most of them were not as
minimalistic as mine. I felt that a minimalistic double page spread would
look classy and professional so I incorporated this into my work.
