1. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms &
conventions of real media products?

2.  My synopsis idea was for the antagonist/ teacher who has lost her son in a car accident to begin to
kill her students as they were their when her son died so she blames them for he's death. And a
student who was there during the her sons accident would reveal the truth, that the teacher has
kidnapped the student, and this would happen at the end of the 3 act structure.
 The protagonist is the teacher who is setting off on a journey of being happy to being mad and
totally abnormal, why one of the students are trying to resolve the problem of the teachers
abnormal behaviour of kidnaping the student.This relates to theTodorov’s theory of equilibrium
and disruption and return to equilibrium.This sets up an enigma. Also, Roland Barthes says that
every film has an enigma at the start and this links to my title sequence as I have a tracking shot
of Oliver going down the stairs while the camera slowly faids down as he walks down the stairs
 Levi Strauss states that all narratives have binaries within them.The title sequence sets up several
binaries: normal/abnormal, good /evil/male female/ young/ old and the teacher is both good and
bad.


3.  I used a tracking shots when we re-created the Citizen Kane recreation scene that
we created as students made me think that this effect was really good for a title
sequence for a thriller film. As it is mostly used in thrillers like insidious and saw.
 Also the tracking shot connotes the thriller genre right from the start of my title
sequence as it creates an idea of a mystery, and builds up tension, witch leaves
the audience thinking “what happens?”.
 I used a wheelchair to make the shot to create this feeling, as it gave the camera a
really smooth effect and if I was holding t by hand it could be mistaken as a point
of view shot.
 I also used a tracking shot in the classroom to create the idea of the quiet and
peaceful environment of the class that he will disrupt. As it goes again to a close
up of the victims face. (student he‘s going to kidnap)

4.  The Mid shots I I used show that he is in the peaceful environment of a school.Then I
show a Close ups of Oliver that connotes the tension that the audience should be
feeling as His face seems intimidating, also I made sure the lighting was half way across
his face as it would show the juxtaposition of he‘s personality (goodevil)
 Also the editing of the montage shots connote his personality which is stereotypically
powerful and mentally disturbed as most men are in thriller films. Editing these shots of
Oliver (the main character) in close up juxtaposed with the environment of the school as
being a calm peaceful environment which emphasises that he is the main character that
is causing disruption.
 However,the music suggests a thriller film from the start and adds to the enigma asThe
music is conventionally the kind of music that would be used for a thriller genre. I mixed
different types of sounds from several websites and faded them in carefully to add to
the thriller genre atmosphere.


5.  The Mise en scene showsThe School right at the start that connotes the peaceful
environment thenThe red titles connote the conventional thriller genre as red indicates
danger and death.Witch again shows the disruption that is going on
 Also throughout the title sequence i edited the clip in premier withThe low key lighting as
it connotes the loneliness of the main characters emotions and Low key lighting is
typical of the thriller genre and I wanted to follow this as I see it as a rule of this genre.
 I used some props asThe character is wearing a hat which links to hiding his emotions and
identity, at the start of the title sequence, He wear a suit to connote that he is able to fit
into that environment and be seen as normal and throughout most of the film his life is
secret.
 However. went through a great deal of trouble over my props such as the blood as I used
fake blood/paint that was every effective. However I had to create a whole new scene as
the one on my storyboard did not work properly.

