2. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS
YOUR AUDIENCE?
FRONT COVER I chose to use a female model as an artist on the front of the magazine
because from my audience research I found that to be the favoured gender and most appealing. My
target readers also suggested they like to see artists they recognise, this is why I put titles of feature
stories of recognised and famous musicians and artists in this genre. A plug is on the page to show
the readers that there is a chance for them personally to win tickets, which should entice them to
buy the magazine and read on more.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREADI used one main picture of the artist for the main story so that
the readers felt connected and understood its significance. I also used a sub image in order to keep
the audience interested in the story by the presence of another visual stimulus. A note of the artists
new album release is also present so that the readers can engage with the artist on a current and
real circumstance. The main story was a light hearted detailed interview with the artist to gain an
insight to her personal inspirations and some fun questions, which is something that the people
said they would like in my audience research.
CONTENTS PAGE I tried to model my layout based on the inspiration of that from CLASH
music magazine and ROLLING STONE music magazine, my layout has a few sub images alongside a
main image and three lists of numbered content to be clear for the readers to see and recognise
with the images. The stories were thought of from the underlining idea that my audience would
want to read something current and also classic, so my stories have a range of both.
3. WHO WOULD BE YOUR AUDIENCE FOR
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

& artists.

4. WHAT KIND OF INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
AND WHY?
An institution that has a liken to produce and distribute non commercial
media products because my magazine would not attract mass audiences
of mainstream consumption. The institution would have to be confident in
creating reader loyalty as my magazine needs to have a connection with
long term interested readers and not one hit wonders.
The institution that may fit this criteria and
would be happy to possibly produce and
distribute my magazine could be BAUER
MEDIA GROUP (HBV) This institution is known for its hugely
successful rock music magazines KERRANG and MOJO as well as Q which
covers a range of representation of music.
