What have you learnt
about technologies from
the process of constructing
this product?
Adobe Photoshop
• Photoshop played a key role in the production of my music
magazine. Photoshop enabled me to edit my photographs and
create the pages for my magazine. I had only a bit of
experience and knowledge of Photoshop because I have used
it for media GCSE. This advantage enabled me to familiarise
myself with various tools. As my production work was getting
completed I had discovered that I have proficient
understanding of the tools and this allowed me to move
forward in my magazine with confidence. Overall this helped
me produce a professional and realistic music magazine.
DSLR Camera
• I took a DSLR camera to my gigs, this enabled me to take
photographs of a high quality. This was because it provided
good speed and flash/no flash in order to take a photo with
different settings.
• I also used a smartphone camera for other images, but
didn’t use the majority of them as I thought they were of
lower quality.
• I used flash on the majority of my photos, this was because
it heightened the exposure. This made the photos appear
clearer. However if I had to be careful, because when you
use flash and its too strong it can make the photo seem
over exposed- this doesn’t look professional.
Blogging
• I used word press to create a blog where I could keep a track record of my work. I found
this a useful component when producing my music magazine because I could track the
development of my work and share my opinions on magazines. This in itself effected my
overall product. It was also good because it was easily accessible via internet, therefore I
didn’t have to manage with lots of paper and my work was neat and organised online.
• The use of the internet as it helped me recognise the importance of increasing digital
technologies/media.
• Before this task, I didn’t know how to maintain and keep a good blog. However this soon
changed as I now know how to add posts, images, plugins, and embed codes.
• I also discovered there is a variety of ways/form which you can display your work
(Slideshare/Video clips). This was interesting as it gave me the opportunity to express my
ideas through a diverse range of things. I learnt how to embed from Youtube, which is a
new task that I didn’t know how to do before . This was also the same uploading from
slideshare onto my blog. For the first time I became familiar with scanning my sketches
and then colouring them on Photoshop. This was effective as it gave a good base idea for
my original magazine.
• Furthermore, I learnt how to change file formats (e.g. Photoshop files (.PSD) because
they can’t upload onto my blog, therefore I had to change them to (JPG. Files)to allow
them to appear on my blog. This made my blog more interesting as I learnt the crucial
factors of what blogging is.
