Why Dementia?
Why Dementia?
• Dementia is a key theme within our film as we
aim to highlight how dementia not only
effects the individual diagnosed, but the
individuals family.
Why Dementia?
• Whilst within our group, no-one has a relation
that is suffering from Dementia , we have a
number of friends that do. They have been
able to give us valuable advice on how this has
affected them. They also gave us information
about the symptoms.
• When doing our research into Dementia, we
were shocked to find out how many people
are affected by the illness.
Facts into Dementia
• By 2050 it is expected that 135 million people will
suffer from the disease.
• During the recent G8 Summit, they discussed way of
dealing with the increasing illness.
• Britain has pledge to increase its funding to £135
million by 2050 to hopefully find a cure for the disease.
• At the moment Dementia only get an eighth of the
funding of cancer yet 1 in 3 people over 65 will die
from Dementia.
• The cost for the illness are rapidly increasing and
demands are struggling.
So Why Dementia?
• It for this reason that we hope our short film
will connect to all those who are affected by
the disease Dementia. We also hope that our
short film will increase awareness about
Dementia and encourage people to take
action.
