Evaluation 3
2. Importance of Audience Research
• Audience research is very important to film industry, as it helps
them identify who their target audience is and what they need to
do to appeal to them
• Lots of money and time is spent test screening films to potential
audiences
• Market research is also important in finding out what audiences
prefer, with surveys used to uncover this often
3. Target Audience
• For our project, ‘A City of Saints’, our target audience are men
aged from 15-24, with our secondary audience being males aged
25-34
• Our target audience was discovered by looking at the statistics of
a similar film ‘Legend’, which is also a Gangster/Crime thriller
• We also produced surveys, which helped identify our audience
• Overall, we expect the gender divide attracted to the product
being 70% male and 30% female
4. Pitch Presentation feedback
• After watching our pitch presentation, the audience liked the
name of the film as it is unique, and relates to the setting of the
film – New Orleans
• One criticism was how similar the film is to ‘Legend’. In response
to this, we made the police officers more important characters to
the story, which is a clear difference to ‘Legend’
5. Rough Cut feedback
• After showing the rough cut of the teaser trailer to an audience,
as well as early versions of the poster and magazine cover, there
was unanimous approval of the use of music in the teaser trailer
• A suggestion for an improvement was more text, which we applied
to the final cut, as a brief description of what happens in the film
being added
• A criticism of the poster was a lack of billing block was also noted,
and we applied this to the poster
6. Final Screening feedback
• Feedback for the final screening came in the form of YouTube
comments
• The continued use of the Atlas font and a dark filter added since the
rough cut was praised as it help set the time period
• The style of the poster was also praised as it looked like a wanted
poster, which also helped portray the criminal nature of the
protagonists
• The shadows used on the magazine were also appreciated as it
helped give the magazine a more professional look and make the
characters look more threatening
