1. Direct Address Direct address is the main option when looking at most magazines. I have used direct address when taking my photo of the model as I wanted the audience to be attracted by my magazine as it stares at them and to also engage them. I have used this to also make the readers feel included. NME have used direct mode of address as they want their readers or passers by to be attracted and included.

2. Mise En Scene As you can see in both magazines there are no props apart from their clothes which is the artists’ own. I have used casual clothing on my models as I wanted the audience to feel relaxed and inviting as well as the audience relating to them when looking at the photo rather than just a set up photo shoot with formalwear.

3. Master Head As you can see my master head stands out due to the font and the colour. Although the colour is similar to Q and NME mine stands outs more and attracts the audience.

4. Colour Scheme I had decided to use black, blue, red and white. I had decided to use these colours as they are mainly associated with indie music and I have chosen to use only four colours to make sure the magazine is not cluttered and it is simple and unique.

5. Cover Line My main cover line consists of the bands name and it is highlighted in white to attract the audience and make it stand out. NME has used pink to contrast the NME colour scheme and to also make it stand out. I wanted my cover line to stand out so the audience or passers by will see it and see that the cover line is going to be the main interview.

6. Puff As you can see my magazine’s Puff is similar to NME as underneath my master head I have written out what the initials stand for. I have also added a puff to mimic the technique used by magazines to show my magazine is the best and beat the competition when selling my music magazine.

7. Floating Quote I have decided to put my floating quotes on the Polaroid’s to subvert the normal methods that the magazines use. I have also used this to show the different quotes matching to the images to relate to the artists and to feel connected when reading this interview.
