Cost of Migrating Large-Scale Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) Software to We...Simon Price
Paper presentation at the Interactive Computer aided Learning conference (ICL 2001), Villach, Austria, September 2001. This paper presents an initial analysis of the duration and effort data collected during the migration of WinEcon, a large-scale CAL package to WWW-based delivery. The paper reviews the data collected during the initial development of WinEcon before presenting the preliminary data collected during the recent migration. The data presented represents a snapshot of the data collection process towards the end of the migration project including an overview of the raw project data in terms of cost, duration and effort. Initial lessons learned from the project will be presented along with the potentially controversial view that conversion of large-scale projects, while feasible, may not represent the most efficient use of resources. The authors will argue that in many cases it may be more efficient to start again rather than migrate and reuse exiting tools and technology.

LaptopLender. Unmanned laptop dispensing kiosk. (translated english version)Metropolia
The purpose of this study was to define a service for Metropolia University of Applied
Sciences which provides a means for a PC classroom with 100% utilisation. In 2019, the service will be in use in all of Metropolia’s campuses.
LaptopLender is a product that enables reducing the number of PCs in classrooms in the near future. Metropolia is able to create a PC classroom whenever or wherever it is needed on any of the campuses where LaptopLender is installed.
One of the tasks of the thesis was to research and define the functional and technical
specifications required to create such a service. To accomplish that, knowledge of how an institution of higher education functions, information with regard to course enrolment and
its resource reservation processes must be researched.
The usage of the computers was researched to gain knowledge of how PC classrooms were really used. In addition, the utilisation of the current laptop lending machines were also inspected. The outcome of this research was that the PC usage reporting was also
improved.
LaptopLender usage is not limited to education environments exclusively. Libraries could also use a machine to lend laptops to their users. Hotels and conference centres could have lendable laptops for their guests as an add-on service. In more secure environments, the lender could be paired to the access control system. For example, no one with a borrowed laptop could leave the premises without returning their borrowed laptop first.
In conclusion, the automated and unmanned LaptopLender provides a flexible and secure method to lend laptops in a variety of environments.

It notes the need to equip graduates with digital skills to address changing skill needs. The process brought over 150 users together using digital tools to collaboratively design the network. Key aspects that contributed to success were the willingness of all universities to participate, adapting to reduced funding, clear responsibilities, and using cooperation instead of competition. Challenges remain in balancing systematic planning with creativity. The network aims to be transparent, open, and interactive to foster cooperation between universities.
SAARINEN KIRSI The Digimentor Network Digital Tools and Support at TAMKEADTU
The Digimentor Network at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) in Finland provides digital support for teaching and learning. The network consists of 30 specialists called "digimentors" across TAMK's schools who promote the appropriate use of digital tools. Digimentors are teachers who share knowledge and best practices within their fields of expertise. Resources available through the network include a digital toolkit of tips and practices, online training, and a monthly newsletter. The benefits for teachers include quick access to digimentor expertise in their subject area for guidance on selecting and using digital tools to support assessment and instruction.
The Oppimobiili project from 2014-2016 aimed to develop digital learning solutions and give students flexibility in designing individual learning paths. The 280,000 euro budget went towards creating virtual courses for Vantaa Vocational College, producing material for about 40 courses across 42 teachers. The project materials and courses covered vocational and general studies, as well as training for on-the-job learning periods in areas like auto repair, hairdressing, engineering, tourism, construction, and health care.
This document summarizes the Second Study project run by Salpaus Further Education. The project aims to (1) create an easy-to-use portal for upper secondary and vocational schools in the Lahti region, and (2) encourage students to use Web 2.0 tools for learning. It has a budget of €83,500 and runs from 2008-2009. Fifteen schools participate in the pilot program which uses tools like blogs, wikis and Second Life across eight subjects. Progress is tracked through online forms and analysis.

When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
