These projects are under tight timeframes to put stimulus money to use immediately; and often the pressure of designing, building and reporting progress makes comprehensive network data management a lesser project priority.
However, data accessibility by network operators and subscribing providers is vital to efficient network completion and maintenance and successful business development. Maine Fiber Company, Inc., realized this when it began constructing a 1,100-mile, high capacity fiber optic network to extend middle-mile connectivity across the state of Maine. Hotel guests and staff are not directly accountable for a hotel’s overall utility bill. As a result, room occupants have little incentive to adopt energy-efficient habits. Yet, guest room energy consumption accounts for between 40 and 80% of energy use within the hospitality industry. In addition, industry data shows that guests remain outside of their rooms for several hours a day, on average. A framework for converting hotel guestroom energy management into ROISchneider Electric
Hotel guests and staff are not directly accountable for a hotel’s overall utility bill. As a result, room occupants have little incentive to adopt energy-efficient habits. Yet, guest room energy consumption accounts for between 40 and 80% of energy use within the hospitality industry. In addition, industry data shows that guests remain outside of their rooms for several hours a day, on average. This paper analyzes room energy management approaches that accommodate both guest comfort and efficiency.

Optimizing the placement of cloud data center in virtualized environmentIJECEIAES
In cloud mobile networks, precise assessment for the position of the virtualization powered cloud center would improve the capacity limit, latency and energy efficiency (EEf). This paper utilized the Monte Carlo oriented particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA) to first, obtain the optimal number of virtual machines (VMs) that maximize the EEf of the mobile cloud center, second, optimize the position of the mobile data center. To fulfil such examination, a power evaluation framework is proposed to shape the power utilization of a virtualized server while hosting an amount of VMs. In addition, the total power consumption of the network is examined, including data center and radio units (RUs). This evaluation is based on linear modelling of the network parameters, such as resource blocks, number of VMs, transmitted and received powers, and overhead power consumption. Finally, the EEf is constrained to many quality of service (QoS) metrics, including number of resource blocks, total latency and minimum user's data rate.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Founded in 1911, the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is Oregon’s largest
Responder Outage Management System
customer-owned utility — providing electricity to more than 86,000 homes,
Fiber Manager business, and schools in Eugene, Oregon. EWEB is also chartered
to provide water service to more 50,000 customers in the Eugene metro area.

Challenges
In 2004, EWEB sought an Esri-based mapping solution that would serve both its
