Comic Books, By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, And Frank Millar
There will always be entertainment and in the 1960 s comic books ruled the
entertainment industry, and even now they dominate as comic book movies. The
worlds created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Frank Millar have become pop culture
and people across the world have gazed upon this form of art and literature
combined. The protectors of the universe, as powerful as they can be, are missing
one key component, the universe. The issue that comic books have not been as
diverse as the world they protect is, has been raised many times and the controversy
has been mostly addressed. The ways in which they have been addressed has caused
even more controversy. The argument has many to believe that anyone can relate to
these characters through personal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art,
and it has changed throughout the years. In the 1930 s and 40 s a child of color or
even a girl would be able to find someone who looked like them in the comic books
they purchased. They were to read Superman and Batman, with whom both were
well off and white. They had to read these characters in order to get their
entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50 s the comic books were
still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder Woman.
That was the status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The
mainstream comic scene was changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and
Luke Cage. That was a changing point and yet many argue that there is still not
enough representation of minorities in comic books. The support for more diverse
characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J. Smith Ph.D. written for The
Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and Gender Diversity in
Comic Books Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more diverse
characters in entertainment such as comic books and their motion picture
counterparts. In the article he argues that most of the population wants what they see
to represent them fully. However, he acknowledges there are many characteristics that
hold true with the minority groups, such as growing up in Brooklyn and
Comparing My Work Experience At Eat N Park
I had started working as soon as I possibly could. When I turned fifteen I went to
my high school office and got my workers permit. My mother and grandmother
both worked at the Eat N Park located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. When I was of age
to finally get a job, I was pretty much guaranteed a job there. I worked at that Eat N
Park for almost two years until I finally quit in January of 2016. Just a month later I
was reemployed at my current job at a family owned restaurant called Rizzo s
Malabar Inn, located in Crabtree, Pennsylvania. Throughout this essay I will be
comparing and contrasting my work experience at both of these establishments in
regards to responsibilities, wage, hours and management.. When I first started

The work that I do now is much more laid back and rewarding whereas the work I
did at Eat N Park was stressful and too much to ask for considering the amount I
was being paid. Not only am I making more money than I did when I worked at Eat
N Park, I am having a much more pleasant experience. My hours are much more
reasonable. When I was still in high school and even now, the management at
Rizzo s has been very respectful of my needs in regards to my hours and
workweek. When I worked at Eat N Park, I was falling behind in my classes
because of how much I was working. When I went to management with this
concern, I was left with the choice to either deal with it or quit. The managers and
owners at Rizzo s are very good people, unlike those at Eat N Park. The managers at
Eat N Park were completely unprofessional, unorganized and overall unpleasant
individuals. I will continue working at Rizzo s Malabar Inn until I graduate college
and maybe even after I graduate on the weekends. I have so far had an amazing
experience with the establishment and believe that I will continue to do
Satire In Political Cartoons
Political cartoons and satire are a prevalent way to depict the current viewpoints in
the political system. In some cases, the cartoons can polarize people when they push
the envelope too far. However, in many cases, Democrats and Republicans alike can
join in laughing at the humor intended by the illustrators and writers. For my cartoon,
I chose to draw a picture of an elephant crushing Donald Trump, the Republican
presidential candidate. The meaning behind my cartoon is that even Republicans are
trying to keep Trump from saying all the highly opinionated, offensive, and negative
things in his political campaign. Elephants represent the Republicans, and the
Democrats are symbolized as Donkeys. In my cartoon, the elephant sitting on Trump
Advertising And Marketing Plan For A San Diego
Advertising...
NKLIK strives to help clients achieve their business goal, using a variety of
techniques to accomplish this. When a business turns to a San Diego advertising
agency, they need to ensure the advertising services are incorporated into a larger
marketing plan, one that draws attention from the target audience. One mistake many
business owners make is they confuse marketingand advertising, yet these are two
distinct things. Advertising serves as a small part of a comprehensive marketing
plan, one that also incorporates things such as pay per click marketing, search engine
optimization, local SEO and more. When all areas are addressed, businesses find
they gain a larger market share and increase revenue and profits in the process.

To further improve the search engine ranking of a site, a company must ensure they
have a site that is worthy of links. Many search engine optimization companies
suggest clients use the term click here as a keyword, for example, yet this truly does
nothing to improve the site s search engine ranking. It s best to use a specific
keyword in situations such as this, as they provide value to the search engine.
Companies should never use images, videos and flash without accompanying text,
yet many continue to do so. The software currently used by the search engines only
reads text, in most cases, although some crawlers do have the ability to scan flash
files. Simply add a description for each image, video or flash in the alt text. This
requires the use of HTML code though, and many business owners don t have this
knowledge either. In situations such as this, it s best to turn to a professional
advertising agency San Diego for assistance to ensure the content may be found.
One thing many business owners fail to realize is free web hosting sites typically
aren t free. In fact, many place advertisements on a website, yet don t alert the
website owner to this data. It s hidden text, however, and search often penalize for
hidden text. The website owner is then left wondering what they did wrong and why
their search engine ranking is rapidly
Non Verbal Communication In Health Care
Verbal communication is choice words influenced by education, age, gender, and
culture. It s the exchange of information that is used to continue additional
conversation or provide necessary information. Verbal communication can be bias to
one s own beliefs and experiences and is often misunderstood when these biases are
placed at the forefront. Effective verbal communicationin healthcare employs more
than one s own opinion but embraces the thoughts of the patients. Non verbal
communication interprets verbal communication through systemic observation and
behaviors. It relies on the five senses and reflexes on these senses to interpret
emotions. Non verbal communication can be misinterpreted when there is a lack of
eye contact, dismissal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To some, therapeutic communication involves the process of verbal interactions
between two or more people. This interaction can exchange information, elaborate on
a topic, or formulate opinion in a day to day process. Day to day communication,
however, does not rely on building and grouping information for a distinctive cause,
thus the aim of communication is not focused on personal rapport but through a
process where information is exchanged between individuals, (Merriam
Webster,2015). Likewise, person centered communication is targeted toward
interpersonal contact, the sharing of experience, and a deep understanding of self and
other, (Motschnig Nykl, 2014). Person centered communication combines the
feelings and thoughts of all involved not the needs and wants of the individual,
however, a significant element of person centered care is effective therapeutic
communication between care providers and clients, (Schwind,McCay, Metersky,
Martin, 2016). To many, communication stands alone and encompasses behaviors for
those involved to develop ways to set a more functional personal structure of
conveying information. Communication is a complex process of sending and
receiving messages. Similarly, therapy alone does not include communication but is
an action of doing or treating. By definition therapy is treatment intended to relive or
heal a disorder, (Meriam Webster, 2015). Therapeutic communication in a hospital
setting is essential in maintaining good quality of life because it allows the provider
to interact with the patient while at the same time providing comfort. In order to
provide care that is therapeutic there should be demonstration of respect and
compassion while communicating with the patient (Webster, 2013). The belief that
all communication is therapeutic overlooks the person as a human being or the
patient as an emotional
Beowulf Is Weak
In Beowulf s story the vikings made him some sort of hero. They heard of his
accomplishments and honored him like a king. They also put him in charge of
solving their biggest problem with out any second thoughts, and it turned out well for
them. He was their hero, later they even made him their king. He might have been a
heroto them, but that was only because he solved their problem. Nothing else made
him a hero. The argument in Beowulfwas weak because it made Grendellook like a
mindless beast who killed for no reason, and it also painted Beowulf as a flawless
god who could kill and defeat any beast or enemy with his bear hands and again they
state no flaws. One reason the argument was weak is because it does not say that

The Differences Of Love And Sex In AmпїЅlie And Y Tu
MamпїЅ...
There is a mysterious difference between love and sex in relationships. Often
people confuse the two in the climax of intimacy; however there is a big difference
between them both. Love is an emotion that you feel, and sex is a physical act or
biological event. Both can occur without the presence of the other. In the 2002
French comedy romance AmГ©lie and the 2001 Mexican drama film, Y Tu MamГЎ
Tambien, the complexities of love and sex are confronted. In both movies the
filmmakers used omniscient narrators and produced imagery in international film that
in its own right, encompasses the paradigms of foreign culture while simultaneously
connecting artistic entertainment. After watching both, I will analyze the film
components, providing a perspective of the essential elements used by the
filmmakers in each. The concept used in AmГ©lie is a 3 Act Structure, which consist
of the Set up, the Confrontation and the Resolution. As described in our textbook act
one, which he calls the set up introduces the story, characters and setting. Act two, the
confrontation, focuses on the conflicts that come between the main characters and
their goals. Act three, resolution, settles these conflicts and ties up carious plot lines.
(Prince, p. 233) In the Exposition we are introduced to the characteristics of
AmГ©lie, her childhood and her life as an adult. In the confrontation we learn

Switzerland Immigration Politics Essay examples
In order to have a complete understanding of the politics of immigration in
Switzerland, it is crucial to realize the impact direct democracy has in shaping
public policy and public opinion. Hanspeter Kriesi and Alexander Trechsel, two
prominent Swiss political scientists, consider direct democracy not only to be the
most crucial institution of the Swiss political system but also the most developed
system of its kind in the world, both in terms of significance and in terms of sheer
numbers. Swiss voters took part in 321 referendums between 1960 and 2003, over
seven per year on average, by far the most numerous of the 47 nations in the Council
of Europe. The importance of direct democracyin ensuring the continued salience of

When the Constitution was revised in 1874, the optional referendum was introduced
allowing the holding of a referendum on any change to federal legislation... which
can be requested by 50,000 voters or eight cantons within a period of 100 days
after the publication of the law. Of the 2181 parliamentary decisions eligible for an
optional referendum from 1848 to 2005, only 156 were subject to them. Of these
156, only 46% were successful in rejecting legislation that had been passed by
Parliament.
The already expansive institution of direct democracy was further extended in 1891
with the introduction of the popular initiative for the partial revision of the
Constitution that must also be accepted by a double majority of people and cantons.
In order to present a popular initiative to the electorate, organizers must gather
100,000 signatures within eighteen months. Interestingly, popular initiatives can
consist of complete proposals for constitutional modifications or merely a proposal
that simply states a general goal of changing the Constitution leaving it up to
Parliament to implement said goals as it sees fit. Popular initiatives are incredibly
diverse, ranging from demands for new footpaths in the Alps to the abolition of the
armed forces. When faced with a popular initiative, the Federal Parliament

Earth Rocky Planet
Earth is a rocky planet. It has a solid and active surface with canyons, valleys,
mountains, plains and a lot more. It is special because its atmosphere mainly
composed of nitrogen and it has the abundance of oxygen that is needed for us to
breathe. Its atmosphere also protects us from the approaching meteoroids, in which it
break up first in the atmosphere before they can strike as meteorites. Earth is the
perfect habitable planet on our solar system right now. For it has right distance from
the Sun in which it gets a perfect temperature. It has a magnetic field that protects the
planet form the harmful radiation. Earth is also kept warm by an insulating
atmosphere, and it possessed the perfect chemical ingredients that is necessary for life

It will no longer support our living and provide our necessities due to the fact that
the sun gets older which results to a larger and warmer star that can result to the
extinction of human and other complex life, and eventually after 2.56 billion
years, to all cellular life. In about one billion years, the luminosity of our sun will
be 10% higher than what it is now. This will result to a possibility that our
atmosphere will become a moist greenhouse , leading to a runaway evaporation of
the bodies of water. As a consequence to this, plate tectonics will become terminated,
and so with the entire carbon cycle. Right after this event, in about 2 to 3 billion
years, the planet s magnetic dynamo may halt, causing the decay of the
magnetosphere and leads to the accelerated disappearance of volatiles from the
external atmosphere. And four billion years from now, there would be a massive
increase in the temperature of the Earth s Surface that may result to a runaway
greenhouse effect, heating the surface that is sufficient enough to melt it. By that
point, all life on the Earth will be gone. The most foreseeable fate of the Earth is its
absorption by the Sun in about 7.5 billion years, when the star entered the red giant
stage and expanded to cross the current orbit of the planet. It is not yet defined when
human life will terminate on planet Earth due to anthropogenic climate change and

The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay
The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for
companies in the logistics and supply chain management industry. According to
Jakobs (2000), he states that the RFID system use tiny tags with embedded
microchips that contains data. This data contains the location and information about
the product/item and transfers the data to RFIDreaders through radio signals.
The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal
currently use in managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a
radical innovation, with a significant impact in the logistics and supply chain
industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental innovation as large firms in the logistics
and supply chain industry are constantly making minor improvements on the RFID.
(Wamba, 2013).
2.5 The process of RFID
The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to
become an expert with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification
system has three parts (see appendix 2):
1.Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This
data is manually entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag
consists of an antenna that transmits radio waves between the RFID readers.
2.Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the
data. Whenever the sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and
decode the data on the
The Philosophy of Film
The philosophy of film is a quickly developing area of philosophical and aesthetic
research. Philosophers have focused both on stylish issues about film as a creative
medium the theory of film and addresses about the philosophical substance of films
films as philosophy. Thomas E. Wartenberg (Professor of philosophy
at Mount
Holyoke College) did a great job in showing when a film illustrates a philosophic
claim and how The Matrix make contribution to philosophy. In this paper, I will look
at another film, Blade Runner, to see the connection between philosophy and film,
then discuss the question: Are the Replicants human?
Wartenberg addressed the question: Can philosophy be screened? (pg. 272) He then
used thought experiment as a way that a film can represent philosophy. So what is
thought experiment ? Thought examinations include nonexistent situations in which
the audience are asked to envision what things might be similar to if such and such
were the situation. The individuals who feel that movies can really do philosophy
show that fiction films can work as philosophical thought experiments and
consequently qualify as philosophical. Wartenberg argues that it some fiction films
as working in ways that thought experiments do, and thus they may be seen as
doing philosophy. (pg. 276) He uses Wachowski Brothers 1999 hit, The Matrix as
his example. The film addresses part of a big philosophical question, which is what is
reality? What we see on screen is a
Scba Firefighter Case Study
In order for a firefighter to be efficient at the work one perform, the appropriate
equipment is needed. One important piece of equipment is the self contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA). The SCBA allows one the ability to breath when
entering a smoked room filled with toxics. The SCBA also is worn for simple car
fires, serious structure fire or even an outdoor fire (Ford, 2012, p.343). In this
scenario the SCBA bottle caused serious harm to a firefighter. One will discuss
major problems, the potential solutions and some recommendations that can
hopefully keep this from happening again. In this scenario some major issues was
observed. First the SCBA bottle should have been secured in a compartment
specifically designed for SCBAs or secured by metal brackets. Secondly, did the
person who filled the SCBA bottle have the proper training to do that job? And
lastly, since the cylinders looks almost identical to the fire department s 3000 psi
cylinder bottles, why were there not distinctive marking on the bottles. Some
potential solutions would be to have a designated compartments for the spare SCBA
bottles and they should be secured with metal brackets or some sort of device that
will keep the bottles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the bottles must be secured in place by some sort of device, such as a
metal bracket. Next, proper training must take place. There should be some sort of
certificate of completion of after training is complete. Also, a system should be put
in place so that the bottles can be easily identifiable such as color coding the bottles.
Lastly, this should be reported to the National Fire Incident Reporting System
(NFIRS), which is the main source of information on line of duty firefighter deaths
and injuries. NFIRS analysis helps to identify local trends over a period of time

Strategic Management Case Study
Q1. Expand on the rationale behind the Fiat and Chrysler strategic alliance.
In December 2008 Fiat witnessed such a drop off in its demand for cars that they
were forced to close for a month and lay off close to 50,000 workers. The company
indicated that amid the financial crisis it was looking for a partner who could give
the company the much needed push in the North American market. Fiat learned
about Chrysler s bankruptcy problems and put an offer on the table for the purchase
of Chrysler. Experts felt the alliance was part of Fiat s expansion and risk
diversification strategy. On Jan 20th, 2009 as part of its bankruptcy filing, Chrysler
announced its plans to establish a global strategic alliance with Fiat.
The rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was because of this agreement with the Government that Chrysler had to present a
long term viability plan to the US Government by the end of March 2009, which
needed to include the possibility of mergers with other companies. This is effectively
what allowed the Fiat/Chrysler alliance to take place.
Q2. Investigate what could be a hindrance to the realisation of the synergies of the
Fiat / Chrysler partnership?
In any merger, or acquisition for that matter, it can be extremely difficult. In a lot of
cases mergers often fail to produce the anticipated gains.
There are many difficulties of which both Chrysler and Fiat may encounter, such as;
1.One company s reputation can damage the profitability of the venture as a whole.
2.The coming together of different cultures.
3.Different business strategies.
4.Increase in management turnover.
5.Increase in bureaucratic and export costs.
1. Reputation
A good reputation is worth more than money Publilius Syrus
A company s reputation will determine its success rate; a good reputation generally
leads to a successful profitable company. A bad reputation will affect a company s
profitability whether that is through poor customer service or production faults, if a
company garners a substandard reputation
The Spectroscopy Lab Centralized On The Properties Of
Waves
The spectroscopy lab centralized on the properties of waves and they relate to the
emission spectrum, however one must understand the Bohr model of the atom first.
The Bohr model for the atom depicts a planetary like structure, with a positively
charged nucleus in the center with small, negatively charged electrons rotating
around in specific, fixed orbits at different distances from the nucleus. When an
electrontransitions from a higher orbital, where it is in its excited state, back down
to a lower orbital where it is relaxed or in its ground state, it emits light. The emitted
light is a result of the electron releasing the previously absorbed energy. It is
possible to observe an electron in one state or another, however an electron never
possesses the capability to be observed in between states. Transitions between states
that are closer together, produce a light of lower energy transitions of a longer
distance.
A spectroscope is able to display the emitted light by presenting the bright interference
patterns of the diverse wavelengths which make up the spectrum. By looking through
the eyepiece, a spectrum will appear on either side of the slit the slit starts all of the
light waves passing down the tube in phase so that they arrive at the slits in the
diffraction grating at the same time. When wavelengths are in phase, they create
constructive interference, which results in double the amplification, while wave
lengths that are out of phase produce destructive
The Diary of Anne Frank Essay
The Diary of Anne Frank
In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime.
Then I will begin to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will

Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was,
1929. During the first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In

Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can
think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne
from my first school, it was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously
moving countries is much harder than schools so I can only imagine what it would
have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all
Jewish school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her
own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use
a telephone or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were
taken away. If this happened to me, I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was
planning to go into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot
had been called in for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They
moved into the secret annexe on July 6th,
1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr

Cost And Quality Of Healthcare
Cost and Quality in Healthcare When it comes to improving healthcare, one must
be focused not only on quality but also on cost. The question is then raised: Will
higher cost result in higher quality care or will higher quality care help control
costs? It is no secret that healthcare is incredibly expensive in the United States.
Despite healthcare in the United States being 50 200% more expensive that in
other economically developed countries, life expectancy rates and quality indicator
scores are also lower (Burke Andrew, 2014). This paper will provide highlights of a
couple of current initiatives both in the private and public sectors that address cost
and quality of healthcare as well as implications for nurses regarding evidence based
practice relative to cost and quality. Cost and Quality in the Private Sector There has
been much progress to support better quality healthcare in recent years. Focus is
around the development of quality measures, thanks to private organizations such as
the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA developed what
is called the patient centered medical home model. This is a model of care that
emphasizes care coordination and communication to transform primary care into
what patients want and need. The NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH)
Recognition is the most widely adopted model for transforming primary care
practices into medical homes (NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home, 2015).

10 things I hate about you and The Taming of the Shrew are similar to each other in
many ways but at the same time they are very different. Both fall under the category
romantic comedy, deal with relationships, and have happy endings. So how are they
so much alike but so different?
10 things I hate about you is a story based off of The Taming of the ShrewBoth plots
are about love but the time periods and the idea of marriage are different from

Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Essay
Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds
Since the advent of the theory of evolution the origin of birds has been a thriving
topic in science. Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand
today: that birds are descendents of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are
the direct descendents of a group of dinosaurs known as the coelurosaurs. Both
hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on information obtained
from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to determine which
hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Until then
we have only speculation, but speculation based in observed evidence.
The origin of birds is one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram).
They include the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth.
Several characters typify a theropod: hollow bones, three main fingers on the
manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes (foot). Most
theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were
present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought
that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or
maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for
the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified
by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000).
The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group
known to be the ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998).
Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to
include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs,
pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000).
The Theropod Hypothesis
The theropod hypothesis puts the entry of birds into the evolutionary arena after the
line of descent had continued from thecodonts to the saurischian dinosaurs and their
subsequent split into

always entertaining Arsenal side. Surprising news broke before the match which
meant that current first choice Simon Mignolet had been dropped or Rested in the

And when team news was announced the always nervous looking Karius entrance

However the full flowing Salah did finally find the net when he bolted on to Joel
Matip s clearing header, ran the length of the pitch, and slotted coolly into the
bottom corner for a magnificent break away goal which gave the Reds a two goal
lead at the half time.
Sadio Mane had a massive chance to end the contest once and for all with 25 minutes
remaining, but the Senegalese saw his finish battered off the line as it was heading in
the net. A phenomenal fourth did arrive seven minutes later, when substitute Daniel
Sturridge joined was in on the act, heading home Salah s pin point cross only minutes
after coming on.
With Arsenal by now well and truly deflated, the Reds then saw out the last 13

Types Of Pencils, Mechanical And Non Mechanical
In human history, there have been numerous inventions that made our daily lives
easier. One of the most significant inventions is a pencil. a thin, sharp pointed
device that is used for writing or keeping a record of events or information of any
kind. Writing on a whiteboard using a marker illustrates writing or drawing patterns
on a piece of paper. There are two types of pencils, mechanical and non mechanical.
In spite of the fact that a mechanical and non mechanical pencilshare one most
important material that produces shapes or writings when pressed with pressure or
rubbed against a paper, they differ in the way they are used and the materials they
are made from. Non mechanical pencils are often made of wood, whereas most
mechanical pencils are made of non wood materials, such as plastic, metal, and
sometimes a mixture of both. Since a mechanical pencil is complex, it is the main
emphasis of this text. In general, any mechanical pencil has five primary components,
namely lead, intermediate lead tube, knock button, barrel, and clip (U.S. Patent No.
US20110229245).
The principal component of any mechanical pencil is lead. According to Tavares,
Paulo Henrique, Campos Prado1 Barbeira, and Paulo Jorge Sanches, It is made by
dispersing natural graphite into a mixture of organic binder and spindle oil followed
by a thermal treatment (p. 827). In addition, as Tavares, Paulo Henrique, Campos

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman Essay
Charlotte Perkins Gilman does a remarkable job letting us get inside the head of her
unnamed main character in The Yellow Wallpaper giving us a taste of the female
psyche, in particular showing how historically some women subject themselves to the
control of men. Alternatively, Nick Hornby does something altogether similar with
High Fidelity , introducing us to Rob Fleming, whose malepsyche reveals, among
other things, how men focus and base their success one expectations influenced by
genderroles. In the paragraphs that follow, I will attempt to compare and contrast
Gilman s and Hornby s findings regarding the male and female psyche. In particular,
I hope to explore how gender divisions have vastly influenced society.
Our country s past holds truths behind the fact that men have been known to have
control over women and to be the dominant. Charlotte Perkins Gilman gives us an
example of such dominance within the first few pages of the short story, The
Yellow Wallpaper which was written in the format of a journal belonging to an
unnamed main character whom states There comes John, and I must put this
away, he hates to have me write a word, (Gilman 13). Right away readers are aware
of the fear that she holds of her husband, for she does not go against or do anything
of which he would not allow. Our main character loves to write in her journal, and
even sees writing in the journal as a way to achieve better mental health, yet she is
afraid to let her husband see

James. Son of Zebedee
Lesson 1: The James of the Gospels
Introduction
The name James appears frequently in gospel narratives. There are three separate
James mentioned amidst the early church in Jerusalem: James, the Son of Zebedee;
James the Less; and James the righteous. Correct interpretation of which James is
being mentioned when discerning Scripture is imperative.
James, the Son of Zebedee James was the son of righteous parents, Zebedee and
Salome, who lived on the shore of Galilee, consecrating their industry with piety and
educating their children through honest toll manly virtue. James entire family was
involved in the ministry of Jesus. Zebedee, father of James and John, was a well
known businessman and possibly a financial contributor to Jesus ministry. Salome,
the wife of Zebedee, was an active follower of Christ. James and John, the sons of
Zebedee, became two of the three inner apostles and were counted within the
called twelve apostles. James father was Zebedee, whom some presume resided in
Bethsaida or Capernaum. Peterson states, Zebedee and his two sons operated a
thriving fishing business on the Sea of Galilee in partnership with another set of
renowned brothers, Andrew and Phillip (Luke 5:7 10). It is surmised that Zebedee
was a man of influence because he marketed some of his choice produce among the
elite in Jerusalem (John 18: 16). Additionally, we find in Mark 1:19 20 that the sons
left their father with the hired servants
The Significance Of Amadeus
The Significance of Mozart s Music in the Movie Amadeus Would producing a film
without any background music be possible? Technologically yes, of course, but any
filmmakers would not try to produce their movies without soundtracks because the
images of films come truly alive when a soundtrack is added in the movie (Monaco
235). Although due to the underdevelopment of filmtechniques, many films in the
1920s were produced without music at first, after the progress of sound film
technology, the film industry completely moved from silent movies to talkies. Right
after the advent of talkies in the film industry, The Jazz Singer, the first sound movie,
was released and introduced the new genre of film a musical film. The new genre of

The storyline of Amadeus, which is based on the original play of the same title
written by Peter Shaffer, mainly revolves around the entire life of Mozart and his
music. Basically, the movie s plot is based on the rumor that Salieri poisoned
Mozart because of his jealousy to Mozart s musical talent. Even if the rumor,
which had spread over Vienna in the 1820s, clearly turned out not to be true
through several historical research, still, the movie Amadeus depicts the fictional
life of Mozart and Salieri s plan to murder him in a realistic way by delicately
displacing Mozart s great works to show Salieri s intense inferiority to Mozart and
his music. The movie s plot the story of Mozart s life in Vienna and his early death
is mainly unfolded with the confession of aged Salieri after his suicide attempt
feeling severe guilty conscience that he murders Mozart. Salieri reveals during his
confession that he wants to murder Mozart because of his inferiority to the genius
of Mozart. With Salieri s feeling of jealousy to Mozart, the movie develops its
storyline based on the musical rivalry and conflict between Mozart and Salieri.
Considering the underlying reason of the rivalry their musical talent between two
characters, Mozart s music works as an essential role to move forward the plot of
the film. By arranging Mozart s music at the episodes that cause Salieri to feel
How The Drought Has Bad And Discovered That Climate
Change
Three summers ago, my friends and I had an idea to rent out a giant inflatable
water slide to spend the day playing on it. We called Jennifer Bubbles, the place
that rents out waterslides, and picked the biggest one. It was this huge inflatable
thing that was half a bounce house and half a waterslide. The next summer, we
rented out the same one. It wasn t until last summer, that we had a problem renting it
out. We called Jennifer bubbles again and she told us that because of the drought,
she was not allowed to rent to anyone because too much water was being used to
make it work. My friends and I were pretty upset, but we ended up just throwing
water balloons at each other that summer. I questioned how the drought had gotten so
bad and discovered that climate change, also known as global warming, was the cause.
Each year the earth continues to get warmer and warmer, and by the end of the 21st
century, average surface temperatures can rise between 35 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit.
There are many theories as to what causes climate change, but which ones are liable
for a warmer earth? Pollution, green house gases, and aerosols in the atmosphere are
the causes of the increase in the earths temperate, but which has the most effect on
climate change or do all three have equal effect?
I took an interest in climate change after reading a few articles about the conspiracy
of Chem trails. It s basically the theory of governmental airplanes shooting chemicals
into the sky to control the
Pastoral Care And Social Conflict
Pastoral Care and Social Conflict
By Keith L. Green Pamela D. Couture and Rodney J. Hunter did an outstanding job
of reflecting on the way pastoral care was executed in the church in the past; they
were especially effective with comparing and contrasting it the social, economic,
and cultural issues people are faced with today. As a result of some of these issues
people have suffered Black people in particular. This suffering sparked a need for
change. The authors observe several of these issues such as: race, single parenting,
and post modern family, among others. In doing so, they focus on the pastoral work
of Charles V. Gerkin by reviewing numerous essays of people from different walks
of life. They discuss some of the traditional patterns in contemporary pastoral care,
which has become a challenge, and in some cases a hindrance for doing ministry
work in society today. In the work of Charles Chuck Gerkin, he draws upon the
Gadamerian hermeneutical method, which is aimed toward a fusion of horizons of
Christian story and human story. While he valued the individual conversations of
chaplaincy and pastoral counseling, he also challenged pastoral care to consider the
congregational, social institutional and cultural aspect of its work. Drawing upon the
work of critical theory and of Erich Fromm in particular, Chuck was concerned with
criticism of social institutions as they perpetuated injustice. He looked as did others

The Three Types Of Mass Communication
1. Define mass communication.
According to the textbook, mass communication is communication to a large group
or groups of people that remain largely unknown to the sender of the message. To go
into more details, we communicate every single day, but normally to just one or two
people that we happen to know. When it comes to mass communication, we could be
speaking to the world or the public about an issue that we would like to address. For
instance, when we go on social media, or watch the news, that would be an example
of mass communication because it is speaking to a large number of audience instead
of directly to just one person. It is making a message to a group of people.
2. Define convergence.
According to the textbook, convergence is the coming together of computing,
telecommunications, and media in a digital environment. There are three different
types of convergence and they all have some differences to the way certain things
come together in computing in telecommunications and media in a digital
environment. Even though there are three different types of convergence, they all
play a very important role in mass communications. The three different types of
convergence work well by themselves, but if they work together, they build a stronger
impact in the media.
3. Explain the three types of convergence
The three types of convergence are Technological Convergence, Economic
Convergence, and Cultural Convergence. Technological Convergence

My First Time Hearing About The People s Mind
When somebody says a microaggression to somebody else they don t know how it
effects the other person s mind, and that can go two ways in people s mind, either
they can laugh it off and act like they don t care or it can hurt them bad and make
them want to cry. Most of the time if people hold it in they really care but their pride
is too high for them to say anything to the person. So that can end up messing up their
mindby causing them to have bad thoughts about every little thing somebody says
to them. When people let out how the microaggression hurt them, I believe they
get a sense of relief because they don t have to keep it on their mind for forever. If
you keep it on your mind forever, it s just going to bring you down every day you
don t say anything. During my first time hearing about microaggressions, I thought
it was a small issue around the United States. But to my surprise, I found that
microaggressions were a worldwide issue. When I learned the full meaning of
microaggressions it made think of all the things I ve ever said that could go in that
category. I thought to myself dang that was pretty messed of me to say. As I looked
into them more I saw that there were a lot of elements that tie into microaggressions
such as trigger warnings and political correctness. Microaggressions, brought up
unknowingly or on purpose can cause a lot chaos to college students and around
college campuses by causing a lot of arguments and debates on what is and isn t right
to say.

The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of History
ABSTRACT: A general problem of philosophical interests concerns the possibility of
objective knowledge of other cultures and a past culture, as well as the adequacy of
their reconstruction. The problem of cultural development is also crucial. By the
criterion I develop, a culture which has expanded its potentialities in various
independent forms is an open culture able to enter into dialogue with any other
culture. 1. To begin with, I must mention that at first I intended to present my paper
at the Section of Philosophy of History, because the point at issue here has a great
concern to the concept of history and to the methodological approaches of historians.

The phenomenon of encounter of cultures has been known and described long ago,
but in its definite meaning the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon may be dated
by the late 19th and early 20th cc., the period of shaping of contemporary
anthropology and philosophy of history. In this connection, in the field of the
philosophy of history the work of Arnold Toynbee ought to be mentioned who has put
forward a conception and a model for systematic representation of the whole diversity
of historical facts concerning the encounter of societies, civilizations, cultures in
space and time, (1) and, in the field of ethnology, the work of the American cultural
anthropologists, of Franz Boas school, in which theory and practice of intercultural
and cross cultural research have been initiated in different forms. (2)
3. In such a broad meaning of the term, the history of mankind presents itself as a
variegated picturesque panorama of encounters of cultures. The immediate
reminiscences are the great migrations of tribes and peoples; the Graeco Roman
invasion of the East; the incursion of barbarians into Europe; the invasion of Turkic
nomads of the area of ancient civilizations; the Crusades; the discovery
On Bruce Springsteen s Song Born In The USA
Born in the U.S.A. The song Born in the U.S.A. was written by Bruce springsteen.
Bruce grew up in New Jersey, and shows it in this song. Bruce is widely known for
his americana, working class poetic lyrics. The song is about the mistreatment of
Vietnamese War veterans, but people believe Born in the U.S.A. is a real patriotic
song, when in reality they just misunderstand the deeper connotation .Bruce himself
did not serve in the Vietnam War. He was called upon to serve, but did not meet
requirements. This song was meant to defend the veterans, his use of diction
,repetition , and comparisons throughout the song to meets that purpose rather than
just patriotism. Bruce Springsteen was born in Long Beach, New Jersey in 1949. He

queens like Celie says; this means it is happiness; it is illuminating; it is freedom; it
is pain and beauty. Because of its symbolism, the colour purple can be seen to have a
significant influence on the characters growth throughout the novel and, therefore, is
an appropriate title for the novel.
The colour purple in the novel can be seen to represent pain and strength. This can

When Celie paints her room purple, this also shows a sense of ownership and

Introduction
What is your first thought of energy resources? Is it something that got to do with
electricity? First of all, I would say that the energy system is not very sustainable
because it can either be sustainable, or not sustainable. The energy resources used by
mankind have grown dramatically and it is affecting the environment by leaving
negative impact to the environment. Not only the government sector, but also the
private sectors that are aware of the environment are trying to find alternatives to
sustainable development to prevent the environment from being destroyed.

Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning
To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality
and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice widely. Biofuels is
much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment
because biofuels would not release any harmful gas such as sulphur and acid
emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels
now are obtained from fermentation of food products, such as corn kernels and
sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a
protest in using food products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a
kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests,
and it produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard
diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants. The usage
of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can
offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of carbon and sulphur
compared with petroleum based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by
biofuels, then the environment

Holden told me to how he reacted after the death, I slept in the garage the night he
died, and I broke all the goddamn windows with my fist, just for the hell of it. (pg.
21 pdf) He was 13 when this death occurred and he mentioned that his parents were
going to get him psychoanalyzed because of what he did. After breaking all the
windows in the garage, he tried to break the windows on the station wagon with his
already broken hand. This shows how sad and down he got about his brother Allie
dying. Everything in life was going well for Holden, family wise, and then a death
happened to someone who Holden enjoyed a lot. Another girl Holden talked about
in our session is Sally Hayes. The night before Holden makes a date with Sally, he
has a prostitute named Sally come to his room. He just left Pencey, so to me, this
is his way of letting out some sadness and anger. Holden says he didn t do anything
with her because he wasn t in the mood anymore. This shows that some depression
is coming into his activity level. Holden told me about what him and Sally did on
their date. They first went to a show called The Lunts. During the show, Holden
said Sally saw a boy she knew named George and he went to Andover. I sort of
hated ofl Sally by the time we got in the cab, after listening to that phony Andover
Bastard for about ten hours. (pg. 69 pdf) Holden told me. He went on to say that
they went ice skating at Radio City. After ice skating, Holden explains how he
wanted to run away with Sally. She kept saying no because they were still children.
He told me that he told her You give me a royal pain in the ass, if you want to know
the truth. (pg. 72 pdf) At this point, both of them hated each other. Holden said he
apologized over and over to her but he ended up just leaving her at the rink. This
shows how he can t keep their relationship in a good place and his mood changed out
Examples Of Methodism In Relation To Globalization
Methodism in Relation to Globalization Globalization and religion are two aspects
that coincide with each other in numerous ways. A religion is a belief or idea, that
is practiced and followed all over the world to a variety of people. Creating a religion
takes a person to start it, a church to teach and practice it, and people to take the
religion to other areas and spread it to larger audiences in the hopes to make the
religion well known. This is what makes religion relate to globalization in the sense
of how a religion is modified, or adapted, and then spread, primarily in an aim to
carry a religion to various areas.
For centuries religions have been a primary way of presenting a belief, or idea, in a
way that appeals to a vast majority of populations. Religions such as Christianity,
Islam, or Hinduism appeal to a higher mass of people reaching, today, into the
millions or billions. This kind of spread is capable due to a variety of reasons
relating to globalization. Globalization is the integration of new views, cultures,
and people that impact the world in various ways. These impacts can be passive or
active, and implicit or explicit.1 Religions are not changed by globalization,
rather, they are adapted and modified to relate to a larger audience. The United
States is a big contributor to the spread of many large religions that have been
created into some of the most largely spread religions in history. Buddhism, for
example, came to America through immigration of Chinese laborers were brought
to California during the time of the Gold Rush of 1849. This led to Buddhism
being practiced and taught throughout the United States. This presented the fact
that religions come to America and spread greatly across to many people, making
the United States a huge participant in the spread of religions. While religions come
to America to be spread, there are some that may not reach as many people as
wanted. Religions tend to only spread if there are enough people willing to follow
the practices or teach its ways. Without people, a religion can die off and not spread
like that of Christianity or Islam. This why people are what makes religions spread
the most.
Throughout history, religions have been developed and
The Future Is Bright with Fusion
With the world s supply of fossil fuels declining, alternative sources of power are
an important issue in the minds of scientists and world leaders alike. While
everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and
water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched
for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same
power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal
fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed
fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more
power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with
all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few
years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key
to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would
produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is
harmless and readily available.(thesis statement)
Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a
fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When
the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the
power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or
natural gas power plant the fuel
Descriptive Essay On My Pet Dog
My Pet Lola My pet dog, Lola is a very interesting dog. We really don t know much
about her, but we still love her and take care of her. Our Lola is a rescued dog from
the Romney Sport s Park. An old couple found her under a car while my class was
at the park because it was the last week of school, and we went for all the things we
have done in that grade. My mom came with us to watch and supervise, when she
found her on a leash by an old man. My mom wanted to know if we could keep her if
we came by later and he agreed that we could take her. It was that day on June 2,
2015 when we accepted her into the family! She has been a great addition to the
family. The veterinarian told us that she was about 2 to 3 years old at the time. Lola

The cool thing about her is that she is a schnauzer without the cut and average
schnauzer. Her legs are longer than the average schnauzer. They measure an exact
1 foot at the inch. We all found out not too long ago that she likes to cuddle and
hug you in the person who is holding her. She will not mind, but she does not like it
when you shut her mouth. Lola will squirm and will want to leave you at that
exact instant. A couple tricks we taught her are to sit and to go to her room when it
is bedtime or when we have to leave the house. She is still not trained to go pee on
a piddle pad, but that is a problem with all of our dogs, just as it is with pooing on
the piddle pad. Lola loves to play with people, but she really loves to play with our
1 year old French bulldog Oliver. The 2 of them will chase each other around the
house playing with each other for hours. When they get tired, they like to sleep in a
pouf together and will lay there for more hours than they ran around. Then it will just
Female Serial Killers
Not many people know that women can murder others, let alone, be serial
murderers. What has been perceived generally in our societies is that women are
the creation of God who sacrifice for others and care selflessly. It is the males who
are seen as the abusers, the ones who murder, kill others for their selfish motives.
That is true but not completely. The majority of people who abuse, or kill are males.
However, women are also seen as doing these acts so anonymous to their feminism .
Women also murder, and surprisingly, they can be even more dangerous than males
(Deborah, 2000). My research paper will prove that women can be murderers and
some can be really brutal.

There is a benefit of choosing such a profession that places them in situations
where they are in contact with helpless individuals. Due to their vulnerability it
becomes easier to poison the victim as the sick or infirm cannot resist. Plus, when a
sick victim dies and there are no overt signs of struggle, it is easy for police to
mistake the crime for a natural death. Over 50% are either very young or very old
(Deborah, 2000).
What is the purpose behind the murders?
Women kill largely for instrumental reasons such as monetary gain rather than
affective reasons such as achieving motional satisfaction. Absent is the presence of
sexual fantasy as a motivating factor (Richard N.Kocsis, 2007). A survey of known
serial killers worldwide reveals that 41% of homicidal women kill for profit or greed.
Female serial killers who victimize their own children and other relatives sometimes
have a much stranger motive than profit. According to psychiatrists, some of them
become addicted to the sympathetic attention they receive after the death of their
loved ones (Micheal John, 2008).
TYPES OF FEMALE SERIAL MURDERERS
Black widows
The nickname of such killers, of course, comes from the black widow spider, which
kills its partner after mating. Human black widows are essentially the same. They
usually start killing after the age of twenty five, and for a decade or longer they
Magnificent Pythagorean Paradoxes In Ancient Greece
Subsequent to the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great, the ancient Greeks
established possibly the greatest center of learning at the time in Alexandria. Indeed,
history purports that perhaps this great library rivaled even the great library in
Athens, especially considering the fact that the Alexandrian library produced such
significant mathematical figures as Archimedes and Euclid, the works of whom
likely depended on the earlier works of great Greek mathematicians like Thales and
Pythagoras (Lahanas, 2016). Although even those preceding mathematicians likely
expounded upon the mathematical methodologies and computational techniques
developed in earlier Babylonian and Egyptian civilizations. Still, there can be no
doubt that modern mathematics,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The premise behind the paradoxes was that the method of describing motion using
Pythagorean thought, treating numbers solely as discrete, arguably demonstrated the
impossibility of motion. His four paradoxes illustrating this line of thinking are The
Dichotomy, Achilles and the Tortoise, The Arrow, and The Stadium. The paradox
presented in The Dichotomy is that a race, from beginning to end, is a finite distance.
Zeno purported that there are infinitely many half distances, which meant that you
could never reach the end, according to Pythagorean thought. This paradox offered a
precedent to the idea of the limit of an infinite sequence, in that an infinite number of
half distances can add to a finite distance. Achilles and the Tortoise presented a
similar paradox about infinite measures within a finite distance, and demonstrated
that the boast of Achilles, that he could beat the tortoise even when the tortoise had a
head start, could not come to fruition based on Pythagorean thought. The Arrow
presented a paradox between the Pythagorean thought, that discrete units of instances
make up time, and the premise that if Pythagoreans were correct then the arrow could
not move. Thus, claimed Zeno, time must be continuous and not discrete. The
Stadium presents a situation which proves that there is no smallest unit of time, as
Pythagoreans believed, and therefore time must be both finitely divisible and
infinitely divisible (Andrews, Development of calculus: More about the paradoxes,
2016). Although Zeno s arguments were sound, they did not negate the influence that
Pythagoras had on the study of mathematics. Indeed, another famous Greek
philosopher, Plato, professedly transferred his knowledge of Pythagorean
mathematics to one of his students, Eudoxus (Lahanas,

Title: Tetrahymena Mating
Tetrahymena are often found in fresh water ponds, lakes, and streams. The cells are
quite large and their complexity rivals that of a human cell. This makes them a good
alternative to things like human tissues. The cells do not cost much to grow and
require little resources to culture effectively (Ciliate Genomics, nd). They are ciliate
protozoa. Like humans, they mate, but for different reasons. They do not mate to
reproduce, they mate to survive. There are seven different sexes and they numbered
one through seven. This high number of sexes opens up many doors in the world of
mating, therefore Tetrahymena are not as limited as other creatures on Earth. For
example, Humans only have two sexes which limit us drastically in the world of
mating (Zoologger, 2015). In order for Tetrahymena to mate the cells must be starved
of nutrients, mature, and must be a different sex. The same two sexes cannot mate
(Ciliate Genomics, nd).
Tetrahymena have two nuclei. The germline nucleus and the somatic nucleus. The
germline nucleus is also known as the micro nucleus, which controls the complicated
sex life. The macronucleus, or somatic nucleus, deals with the everyday functions of
the cell (Zoologger, 2015). The Gender of the offspring cells is determined during the
mating. Fertilization results in a new micro and macro

How Male Characters are Portrayed in The Taming of the Shrew
Male characters in the Taming of the Shrew play a significant role in the play as
women in fact without the male characters one can say that the male characters
wouldn t react in the manner they do.
The characters I have selected are Tranio, Hortensio, Lucentio and Petruchio because
I feel they play more significant roles in the play then any of the other male
characters due to the fact that three of them are suitors and that one dramatically
influences how the play develops.
I will do this via textual analysis (by selecting relevant segments of text and giving

Although Tranio at times has more power and influence over Lucentio and other
character he is more then willing to fulfil his masters every wish and command. It is
ironic he isn t punished for assuming the role of a gentle man. This is due to the fact
that he is fulfilling his masters commands. This is made evident throughout
Shakespeare s plays such as in, twelfth night the role reversal is generally temporary
and only admitted by the servants master.
However everything must conclude and in act five Tranio is firmly put back I his
place after all the tomfoolery have finished. Even though he has been in a significant
role of power he s never really posed a threat to the hierarchy of the play although he
did create some discomfort and discontent towards the older male characters.
Shakespeare s main purpose for Tranio is to undermine the system and create
humour. He utilises irony to a great extent, the fact Tranio impersonates his master
demonstrates the power Tranio. He may not be of a noble class but his mind is as
sharp as a razor blade and through this he is able to fulfil Lucentios plans.
Hortenensio is another potential suitor for the fair hand of Bianca. He does not
posses Petruchios vigour or Lucentios sex appeal and although he proclaims to be
passionately in love with Bianca (act one scene two line 173 174) it is
Julius And Ethel And The Nazi Of The Soviet Union
On April 5, 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were sentenced to death for
conspiring to commit espionage for the Soviet Union ( on this day , p.1). Their
execution was not meant to happen, it was used as a threat to encourage the
Rosenberg s to confess to their crimes. Julius and Ethel stuck to their story
throughout the trial, they remained true to their communist beliefs, but they never
confessed to being spies. The Rosenberg s were executed in June 1953, but there
was little evidence supporting their execution. Julius and Ethel had similar
backgrounds, their young lives influenced their communist beliefs. Ethel was born
on September 28, 1915 ( Biography of Ethel p.1). Ethel lived in New York City
with her parents Barnet and Tessie Greenglass and her three siblings. Mr.
Greenglass ran a repair shop for sewing machines, they hardly had enough money
to feed everyone. The family lived in a tenement that was unheated. Ethel wanted a
better life fr herself, she attended a religious school and graduated at age 15. Ethel
began her career as a clerk for a shipping company, but she was eventually fired
because she was am organizer of a women s strike. Ethel joined the Young
Communist League and became a member of the American Communist Party (
Biography of Ethel P.1). Julius was born in Russia and moved to America with his
parents and three sisters, he attended the City College of New York, graduating with
a degree in electrical engineering. Julius and Ethel met at a New Years
The Role Of Alamo In Mexican-American History
The Battle of Alamo played a huge role in Mexican American history. The
significance of the Battle of the Alamo was that it helped Texas gain independence,
Texas become a state, and the United States gain control of the northern Mexican
territory. It was the deciding factor of who should own the Northern part of Mexico,
where the border between the United Statesand Mexico was, and what the future
culture was going to be in that area.
The battle of the Alamo was a battle at the Alamo between America and Mexico
over Mexico s northern land. The Alamo was Originally a former Roman Catholic
Franciscan mission and fortress built in 1718, called the Mission San Antonio de
Valero. In the early 1800s Spanish troops were stationed in the abandoned chapel
of the former mission. The garrison stood in a grove of cottonwood trees and the
Spanish soldiers gave it the name El Alamo (the Spanish word for cottonwood) and
to remind them of Alamo de Parras, their hometown in Mexico. (Alchin) The Battle
of the Alamo was A 13 day siege fought from February 23, 1836 and March 6, 1836
between a handful of 180 American rebels, fighting for Texan independence from
Mexico, who were in the Alamo against Mexican forces of about 4000, under
President General Santa Anna. The Battle of the Alamo was won by the Mexican
Army. (Alchin) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Independence had been won in the Revolution and reaffirmed in the War of 1812.
The spirit of nationalism that swept the nation in the next two decades demanded
more territory. (Manifest Destiny) Mexico believed that its northern territory should
stay part of their country. This caused conflict because both countries believed the
northern part of Mexico, at that time, belonged to them. The Battle helped to sort this
out and decide who s land it was going to
Marilyn Monroe Proverbs
Do not protect yourself by a fence but rather by your friends is a proverb lived by
many people who have struggled with addiction and thoughts of suicide. This
proverb originated from the people in Czech. Ranked at the 6th most peaceful
country in the world, the people in this country are very friendly with each other
though they had once been captivated by German infidels in 1945. The proverb can
be reworded in many ways but mostly by stating don t fight battles by yourself. Still
being used today the proverb helps people suffering from mental illnesses.
Marilyn Monroe was one who should have followed this proverb, she was depressed
and saw no other way out. Reasonable suspicion was ruled about her alleged suicide
case. Much of the evidence was because their were pill bottles found next to her bed
and mental instability ran in her family (Baker 1). Marilyn was a beautiful woman

Gallstone Ileus Case Study
The current approaches to surgical management of gallstone ileus are: (1)
enterolithotomy, cholecystectomy and fistula repair (single stage surgery), (2)
enterolithotomy with delayed cholecystectomy and fistula closure (two stage
surgery) and (3) simple enterolithotomy (most reported surgical procedure).
Proponents of the single stage procedure cite recurrence and increased risk of
developing cholangitis or gallbladder carcinoma as reasons for performing
concurrent cholecystectomy and fistula closure [18]. Those who support the two
stage procedure or simple enterolithotomy point to high mortality rates of single
stage procedures and low rates of recurrence and gallbladder carcinoma as reasons...

Moreover, recurrence rates, from retained stones missed during initial surgery or
formation of new gallstones, were the same in both groups. Thus, the one stage
procedure, while associated with higher mortality rates, did not reduce recurrence
rates as its proponents have predicted. Similarly, results from many other collective
retrospective studies also demonstrate higher mortality rates with the single stage
procedure (Table 1). While these studies suffer from lack of power and statistical
significance due to limited patient pools and the small number of patients who
undergo single stage procedure, statistically significant differences in operative time
have been pointed out by several authors including Tan et al. [20] and Doko et. al.
[23]. Further, Doko et al. also reported statistically significant increase in early post
operative morbidity associated with urgent fistula repair in a single stage procedure
at 61.1% compared to 27.3% with enterolithotomy alone (one tailed, P=0.043). They
found an urgent fistula closure was significantly associated with post operative
complications with an odds ratio of 12.1 [[CI]: 1.2 121.5, P=0.046] and concluded
that the single stage procedure should be reserved only for highly selected patients
with absolute indications (acute
Genetic Markers Don t Always Match Physical Appearance
Genetic markers don t always match physical appearance. First of all, a genetic
marker is a gene or short sequence of DNA. Since the beginning of time our
genetics have been changing constantly due to a lot of different aspects. Some
causes of change include aging. As we get older our bodies chemicals change, we
produce more and less of certain chemicals, for example; insulin. The changing of
chemicals affect our body not just on the outside, but on the inside. It affects the
way our genetic markers respond and can alter them. Some diseases are caused by a
genetic mutation, or permanent change in one or more specific genes which can be
caused by aging. Aging can lead to our bodies getting diseases like Alzheimer s or
Parkinson s. (Lewis)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most epigenetic changes that occur in sperm and egg cells get erased when the two
combine to form a fertilized egg in a process called reprogramming. This
reprogramming allows the cells of the fetus to start from scratch and make their own
epigenetic changes. However, scientists think that some of the epigenetic changes in
parents sperm and egg cells may avoid the reprogramming process and make it
through to the next generation. If this is true, things like the food a person eats
before they conceive could affect their future child. Scientists now think epigenetics
can play a role in the development of some cancers. For instance, an epigenetic
change that silences a tumor suppressor gene, such as a gene that keeps the growth of
the cell in check, could lead to uncontrolled cellular growth. Another example might
be an epigenetic change that turns off genes that help repair damaged DNA, leading to
an increase in DNA damage, which in turn, increases cancer risk. (US, National
Institutes of Health)
Another reason our genetic markers change over time is because we get diseases,
also called a genetic disorder. A genetic disorder is a disease that is caused by a
change or mutation in an individual s DNA sequence.
These mutations can be due to an error in DNA replication or due to environmental
factors, such as cigarette smoke and exposure to radiation, which cause changes in the
DNA sequence. These changes can affect
Unit 1 Assignment 1 Legal Entity Selection
Assignment 1 Legal Entity Selection My advice for this scenario would be to form
a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). I believe it would be the best suited for all
future partners and their situations, especially Friend 1 and Friend 3. (All friends
will be referred to as Partners 1, 2 3). My choice for an LLP revolves around the
involvement of Partner 1 Partner 3. Partner 1 is stated to have a full time job and
will not be able to participate in the daily operations of the newly formed entity.
However, it will be their initial investment that earns them an equal stake of
ownership as Partners 2 3 (this reasoning discards the possibility for a Limited
Partnership). Partner 3 will only be able to participate partially due to their
commitments of another part time job. This leads the need to ensure proper legal...

Working only partly with Partner 3 and minimally with Partner 1 means without
proper legal protection, any unethical business dealings could have a massive impact
on the other partners. An LLP would provide such protection for all partners. Finally,
Partner 3 is forward thinking and would like to ensure a transition of their stake in
the business to their children. While this is possible, it may result in a dissolution and
reestablishment of the partnership for the children to inherit a stake, combined to
equal that of their parent. However, while forming the business, I would suggest
adding to the partnership agreement a mechanism to transfer the interest of one
partner to another, or multiple persons. This would have to be agreed upon during
the formation to avoid a dissolution of the partnership in the future. In order to form
this entity, the partners must file with the New Mexico Secretary of State and
provide/acquire the following (Information taken from the website of the New
Mexico Secretary of

  • 2. Comic Books, By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, And Frank Millar There will always be entertainment and in the 1960 s comic books ruled the entertainment industry, and even now they dominate as comic book movies. The worlds created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Frank Millar have become pop culture and people across the world have gazed upon this form of art and literature combined. The protectors of the universe, as powerful as they can be, are missing one key component, the universe. The issue that comic books have not been as diverse as the world they protect is, has been raised many times and the controversy has been mostly addressed. The ways in which they have been addressed has caused even more controversy. The argument has many to believe that anyone can relate to these characters through personal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art, and it has changed throughout the years. In the 1930 s and 40 s a child of color or even a girl would be able to find someone who looked like them in the comic books they purchased. They were to read Superman and Batman, with whom both were well off and white. They had to read these characters in order to get their entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50 s the comic books were still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder Woman. That was the status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The mainstream comic scene was changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and Luke Cage. That was a changing point and yet many argue that there is still not enough representation of minorities in comic books. The support for more diverse characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J. Smith Ph.D. written for The Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and Gender Diversity in Comic Books Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more diverse characters in entertainment such as comic books and their motion picture counterparts. In the article he argues that most of the population wants what they see to represent them fully. However, he acknowledges there are many characteristics that hold true with the minority groups, such as growing up in Brooklyn and

My mother and grandmother both worked at the Eat N Park located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. When I was of age to finally get a job, I was pretty much guaranteed a job there. I worked at that Eat N Park for almost two years until I finally quit in January of 2016. Just a month later I was reemployed at my current job at a family owned restaurant called Rizzo s Malabar Inn, located in Crabtree, Pennsylvania. Throughout this essay I will be comparing and contrasting my work experience at both of these establishments in regards to responsibilities, wage, hours and management.. Not only am I making more money than I did when I worked at Eat N Park, I am having a much more pleasant experience. My hours are much more reasonable. When I was still in high school and even now, the management at Rizzo s has been very respectful of my needs in regards to my hours and workweek. When I worked at Eat N Park, I was falling behind in my classes because of how much I was working. When I went to management with this concern, I was left with the choice to either deal with it or quit. The managers and owners at Rizzo s are very good people, unlike those at Eat N Park. The managers at Eat N Park were completely unprofessional, unorganized and overall unpleasant individuals. I will continue working at Rizzo s Malabar Inn until I graduate college and maybe even after I graduate on the weekends. I have so far had an amazing experience with the establishment and believe that I will continue to do

In some cases, the cartoons can polarize people when they push the envelope too far. However, in many cases, Democrats and Republicans alike can join in laughing at the humor intended by the illustrators and writers. For my cartoon, I chose to draw a picture of an elephant crushing Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate. The meaning behind my cartoon is that even Republicans are trying to keep Trump from saying all the highly opinionated, offensive, and negative things in his political campaign. Elephants represent the Republicans, and the Democrats are symbolized as Donkeys. In my cartoon, the elephant sitting on Trump

When a business turns to a San Diego advertising agency, they need to ensure the advertising services are incorporated into a larger marketing plan, one that draws attention from the target audience. One mistake many business owners make is they confuse marketingand advertising, yet these are two distinct things. Advertising serves as a small part of a comprehensive marketing plan, one that also incorporates things such as pay per click marketing, search engine optimization, local SEO and more. To further improve the search engine ranking of a site, a company must ensure they have a site that is worthy of links. Many search engine optimization companies suggest clients use the term click here as a keyword, for example, yet this truly does nothing to improve the site s search engine ranking. It s best to use a specific keyword in situations such as this, as they provide value to the search engine. Companies should never use images, videos and flash without accompanying text, yet many continue to do so. The software currently used by the search engines only reads text, in most cases, although some crawlers do have the ability to scan flash files. Simply add a description for each image, video or flash in the alt text. This requires the use of HTML code though, and many business owners don t have this knowledge either. In situations such as this, it s best to turn to a professional advertising agency San Diego for assistance to ensure the content may be found. One thing many business owners fail to realize is free web hosting sites typically aren t free. In fact, many place advertisements on a website, yet don t alert the website owner to this data. It s the exchange of information that is used to continue additional conversation or provide necessary information. Verbal communication can be bias to one s own beliefs and experiences and is often misunderstood when these biases are placed at the forefront. To some, therapeutic communication involves the process of verbal interactions between two or more people. This interaction can exchange information, elaborate on a topic, or formulate opinion in a day to day process. Day to day communication, however, does not rely on building and grouping information for a distinctive cause, thus the aim of communication is not focused on personal rapport but through a process where information is exchanged between individuals, (Merriam Webster,2015). Likewise, person centered communication is targeted toward interpersonal contact, the sharing of experience, and a deep understanding of self and other, (Motschnig Nykl, 2014). Person centered communication combines the feelings and thoughts of all involved not the needs and wants of the individual, however, a significant element of person centered care is effective therapeutic communication between care providers and clients, (Schwind,McCay, Metersky, Martin, 2016). To many, communication stands alone and encompasses behaviors for those involved to develop ways to set a more functional personal structure of conveying information. Communication is a complex process of sending and receiving messages. Similarly, therapy alone does not include communication but is an action of doing or treating. By definition therapy is treatment intended to relive or heal a disorder, (Meriam Webster, 2015). Therapeutic communication in a hospital setting is essential in maintaining good quality of life because it allows the provider to interact with the patient while at the same time providing comfort. In order to provide care that is therapeutic there should be demonstration of respect and compassion while communicating with the patient (Webster, 2013). The belief that all communication is therapeutic overlooks the person as a human being or the patient as an emotional

They also put him in charge of solving their biggest problem with out any second thoughts, and it turned out well for them. He was their hero, later they even made him their king. He might have been a heroto them, but that was only because he solved their problem. Nothing else made him a hero. The argument in Beowulfwas weak because it made Grendellook like a mindless beast who killed for no reason, and it also painted Beowulf as a flawless god who could kill and defeat any beast or enemy with his bear hands and again they state no flaws. One reason the argument was weak is because it does not say that Beowulf has any
  • 8. The Differences Of Love And Sex In AmпїЅlie And Y Tu MamпїЅ... There is a mysterious difference between love and sex in relationships. Often people confuse the two in the climax of intimacy; however there is a big difference between them both. Love is an emotion that you feel, and sex is a physical act or biological event. Both can occur without the presence of the other. In the 2002 French comedy romance AmГ©lie and the 2001 Mexican drama film, Y Tu MamГЎ Tambien, the complexities of love and sex are confronted. In both movies the filmmakers used omniscient narrators and produced imagery in international film that in its own right, encompasses the paradigms of foreign culture while simultaneously connecting artistic entertainment. After watching both, I will analyze the film components, providing a perspective of the essential elements used by the filmmakers in each. The concept used in AmГ©lie is a 3 Act Structure, which consist of the Set up, the Confrontation and the Resolution. As described in our textbook act one, which he calls the set up introduces the story, characters and setting. Act two, the confrontation, focuses on the conflicts that come between the main characters and their goals. Act three, resolution, settles these conflicts and ties up carious plot lines. (Prince, p. 233) In the Exposition we are introduced to the characteristics of AmГ©lie, her childhood and her life as an adult. In the confrontation we learn AmГ©lie is in love and mysteriously hides her identity to him sending him on scavenger hunts leading to

Switzerland Immigration Politics Essay examples In order to have a complete understanding of the politics of immigration in Switzerland, it is crucial to realize the impact direct democracy has in shaping public policy and public opinion. Hanspeter Kriesi and Alexander Trechsel, two prominent Swiss political scientists, consider direct democracy not only to be the most crucial institution of the Swiss political system but also the most developed system of its kind in the world, both in terms of significance and in terms of sheer numbers. Swiss voters took part in 321 referendums between 1960 and 2003, over seven per year on average, by far the most numerous of the 47 nations in the Council of Europe. When the Constitution was revised in 1874, the optional referendum was introduced allowing the holding of a referendum on any change to federal legislation... which can be requested by 50,000 voters or eight cantons within a period of 100 days after the publication of the law. Of the 2181 parliamentary decisions eligible for an optional referendum from 1848 to 2005, only 156 were subject to them. Of these 156, only 46% were successful in rejecting legislation that had been passed by Parliament. The already expansive institution of direct democracy was further extended in 1891 with the introduction of the popular initiative for the partial revision of the Constitution that must also be accepted by a double majority of people and cantons. In order to present a popular initiative to the electorate, organizers must gather 100,000 signatures within eighteen months. Interestingly, popular initiatives can consist of complete proposals for constitutional modifications or merely a proposal that simply states a general goal of changing the Constitution leaving it up to Parliament to implement said goals as it sees fit. • 10. Earth Rocky Planet Earth is a rocky planet. It has a solid and active surface with canyons, valleys, mountains, plains and a lot more. It is special because its atmosphere mainly composed of nitrogen and it has the abundance of oxygen that is needed for us to breathe. Its atmosphere also protects us from the approaching meteoroids, in which it break up first in the atmosphere before they can strike as meteorites. Earth is the perfect habitable planet on our solar system right now. For it has right distance from the Sun in which it gets a perfect temperature. It has a magnetic field that protects the planet form the harmful radiation. Earth is also kept warm by an insulating atmosphere, and it possessed the perfect chemical ingredients that is necessary for life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It will no longer support our living and provide our necessities due to the fact that the sun gets older which results to a larger and warmer star that can result to the extinction of human and other complex life, and eventually after 2.56 billion years, to all cellular life. In about one billion years, the luminosity of our sun will be 10% higher than what it is now. This will result to a possibility that our atmosphere will become a moist greenhouse , leading to a runaway evaporation of the bodies of water. As a consequence to this, plate tectonics will become terminated, and so with the entire carbon cycle. Right after this event, in about 2 to 3 billion years, the planet s magnetic dynamo may halt, causing the decay of the magnetosphere and leads to the accelerated disappearance of volatiles from the external atmosphere. And four billion years from now, there would be a massive increase in the temperature of the Earth s Surface that may result to a runaway greenhouse effect, heating the surface that is sufficient enough to melt it. By that point, all life on the Earth will be gone. The most foreseeable fate of the Earth is its absorption by the Sun in about 7.5 billion years, when the star entered the red giant stage and expanded to cross the current orbit of the planet. It is not yet defined when human life will terminate on planet Earth due to anthropogenic climate change and other limiting
  • 11. The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for companies in the logistics and supply chain management industry. According to Jakobs (2000), he states that the RFID system use tiny tags with embedded microchips that contains data. This data contains the location and information about the product/item and transfers the data to RFIDreaders through radio signals. The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal currently use in managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a radical innovation, with a significant impact in the logistics and supply chain industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental innovation as large firms in the logistics and supply chain industry are constantly making minor improvements on the RFID. (Wamba, 2013). 2.5 The process of RFID The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to become an expert with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification system has three parts (see appendix 2): 1.Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This data is manually entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag consists of an antenna that transmits radio waves between the RFID readers. 2.Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data. Whenever the sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and decode the data on the

Philosophers have focused both on stylish issues about film as a creative medium the theory of film and addresses about the philosophical substance of films films as philosophy. Thomas E. Wartenberg (Professor of philosophy at Mount Holyoke College) did a great job in showing when a film illustrates a philosophic claim and how The Matrix make contribution to philosophy. In this paper, I will look at another film, Blade Runner, to see the connection between philosophy and film, then discuss the question: Are the Replicants human? Wartenberg addressed the question: Can philosophy be screened? (pg. 272) He then used thought experiment as a way that a film can represent philosophy. So what is thought experiment ? Thought examinations include nonexistent situations in which the audience are asked to envision what things might be similar to if such and such were the situation. The individuals who feel that movies can really do philosophy show that fiction films can work as philosophical thought experiments and consequently qualify as philosophical. Wartenberg argues that it some fiction films as working in ways that thought experiments do, and thus they may be seen as doing philosophy. (pg. 276) He uses Wachowski Brothers 1999 hit, The Matrix as his example. The film addresses part of a big philosophical question, which is what is reality? What we see on screen is a

One important piece of equipment is the self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The SCBA allows one the ability to breath when entering a smoked room filled with toxics. The SCBA also is worn for simple car fires, serious structure fire or even an outdoor fire (Ford, 2012, p.343). In this scenario the SCBA bottle caused serious harm to a firefighter. One will discuss major problems, the potential solutions and some recommendations that can hopefully keep this from happening again. In this scenario some major issues was observed. First the SCBA bottle should have been secured in a compartment specifically designed for SCBAs or secured by metal brackets. Secondly, did the person who filled the SCBA bottle have the proper training to do that job? And lastly, since the cylinders looks almost identical to the fire department s 3000 psi cylinder bottles, why were there not distinctive marking on the bottles. In December 2008 Fiat witnessed such a drop off in its demand for cars that they were forced to close for a month and lay off close to 50,000 workers. The company indicated that amid the financial crisis it was looking for a partner who could give the company the much needed push in the North American market. Fiat learned about Chrysler s bankruptcy problems and put an offer on the table for the purchase of Chrysler. Experts felt the alliance was part of Fiat s expansion and risk diversification strategy. It was because of this agreement with the Government that Chrysler had to present a long term viability plan to the US Government by the end of March 2009, which needed to include the possibility of mergers with other companies. In any merger, or acquisition for that matter, it can be extremely difficult. In a lot of cases mergers often fail to produce the anticipated gains. There are many difficulties of which both Chrysler and Fiat may encounter, such as; 1.One company s reputation can damage the profitability of the venture as a whole. 2.The coming together of different cultures. 3.Different business strategies. 4.Increase in management turnover. 5.Increase in bureaucratic and export costs. 1. The Spectroscopy Lab Centralized On The Properties Of Waves The spectroscopy lab centralized on the properties of waves and they relate to the emission spectrum, however one must understand the Bohr model of the atom first. The Bohr model for the atom depicts a planetary like structure, with a positively charged nucleus in the center with small, negatively charged electrons rotating around in specific, fixed orbits at different distances from the nucleus. When an electrontransitions from a higher orbital, where it is in its excited state, back down to a lower orbital where it is relaxed or in its ground state, it emits light. The emitted light is a result of the electron releasing the previously absorbed energy. It is possible to observe an electron in one state or another, however an electron never possesses the capability to be observed in between states. Transitions between states that are closer together, produce a light of lower energy transitions of a longer distance. A spectroscope is able to display the emitted light by presenting the bright interference patterns of the diverse wavelengths which make up the spectrum. By looking through the eyepiece, a spectrum will appear on either side of the slit the slit starts all of the light waves passing down the tube in phase so that they arrive at the slits in the diffraction grating at the same time. When wavelengths are in phase, they create constructive interference, which results in double the amplification, while wave lengths that are out of phase produce destructive

Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the first three years of her life, The Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. The only comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can only imagine what it would have been like for Anne. It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion. Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me, I don t know what I would do to keep entertained. All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go into hiding. It finally happened in 1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July 6th, 1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr Dussel the dentist. For two years they lived

The question is then raised: Will higher cost result in higher quality care or will higher quality care help control costs? It is no secret that healthcare is incredibly expensive in the United States. Despite healthcare in the United States being 50 200% more expensive that in other economically developed countries, life expectancy rates and quality indicator scores are also lower (Burke Andrew, 2014). This paper will provide highlights of a couple of current initiatives both in the private and public sectors that address cost and quality of healthcare as well as implications for nurses regarding evidence based practice relative to cost and quality. Cost and Quality in the Private Sector There has been much progress to support better quality healthcare in recent years. Focus is around the development of quality measures, thanks to private organizations such as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA developed what is called the patient centered medical home model. This is a model of care that emphasizes care coordination and communication to transform primary care into what patients want and need. The NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition is the most widely adopted model for transforming primary care practices into medical homes (NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home, 2015). Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand today: that birds are descendents of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are the direct descendents of a group of dinosaurs known as the coelurosaurs. Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on information obtained from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to determine which hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a theropod: hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes (foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000). The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000). As a result of some of these issues people have suffered Black people in particular. This suffering sparked a need for change. The authors observe several of these issues such as: race, single parenting, and post modern family, among others. In doing so, they focus on the pastoral work of Charles V. Gerkin by reviewing numerous essays of people from different walks of life. They discuss some of the traditional patterns in contemporary pastoral care, which has become a challenge, and in some cases a hindrance for doing ministry work in society today. In the work of Charles Chuck Gerkin, he draws upon the Gadamerian hermeneutical method, which is aimed toward a fusion of horizons of Christian story and human story. While he valued the individual conversations of chaplaincy and pastoral counseling, he also challenged pastoral care to consider the congregational, social institutional and cultural aspect of its work. Drawing upon the work of critical theory and of Erich Fromm in particular, Chuck was concerned with criticism of social institutions as they perpetuated injustice. He looked as did others in the immediate post World War II era,

  • 33. The Three Types Of Mass Communication 1. Define mass communication. According to the textbook, mass communication is communication to a large group or groups of people that remain largely unknown to the sender of the message. To go into more details, we communicate every single day, but normally to just one or two people that we happen to know. When it comes to mass communication, we could be speaking to the world or the public about an issue that we would like to address. For instance, when we go on social media, or watch the news, that would be an example of mass communication because it is speaking to a large number of audience instead of directly to just one person. It is making a message to a group of people. 2. Define convergence. According to the textbook, convergence is the coming together of computing, telecommunications, and media in a digital environment. Most of the time if people hold it in they really care but their pride is too high for them to say anything to the person. So that can end up messing up their mindby causing them to have bad thoughts about every little thing somebody says to them. Bruce is widely known for his americana, working class poetic lyrics. The song is about the mistreatment of Vietnamese War veterans, but people believe Born in the U.S.A. is a real patriotic song, when in reality they just misunderstand the deeper connotation .Bruce himself did not serve in the Vietnam War. He was called upon to serve, but did not meet requirements. This song was meant to defend the veterans, his use of diction ,repetition , and comparisons throughout the song to meets that purpose rather than just patriotism. First of all, I would say that the energy system is not very sustainable because it can either be sustainable, or not sustainable. The energy resources used by mankind have grown dramatically and it is affecting the environment by leaving negative impact to the environment. Not only the government sector, but also the private sectors that are aware of the environment are trying to find alternatives to sustainable development to prevent the environment from being destroyed. The hospitality and tourism industry in Malaysia will be affected by natural disaster as results of fossil fuels burning. Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice widely. Biofuels is much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment because biofuels would not release any harmful gas such as sulphur and acid emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels now are obtained from fermentation of food products, such as corn kernels and sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a protest in using food products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests, and it produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants. The usage of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of carbon and sulphur compared with petroleum based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by biofuels, then the environment

  • 42. Examples Of Methodism In Relation To Globalization Methodism in Relation to Globalization Globalization and religion are two aspects that coincide with each other in numerous ways. A religion is a belief or idea, that is practiced and followed all over the world to a variety of people. Creating a religion takes a person to start it, a church to teach and practice it, and people to take the religion to other areas and spread it to larger audiences in the hopes to make the religion well known. This is what makes religion relate to globalization in the sense of how a religion is modified, or adapted, and then spread, primarily in an aim to carry a religion to various areas. For centuries religions have been a primary way of presenting a belief, or idea, in a way that appeals to a vast majority of populations. Religions such as Christianity, Islam, or Hinduism appeal to a higher mass of people reaching, today, into the millions or billions. This kind of spread is capable due to a variety of reasons relating to globalization. Globalization is the integration of new views, cultures, and people that impact the world in various ways. These impacts can be passive or active, and implicit or explicit.1 Religions are not changed by globalization, rather, they are adapted and modified to relate to a larger audience. The United States is a big contributor to the spread of many large religions that have been created into some of the most largely spread religions in history. Buddhism, for example, came to America through immigration of Chinese laborers were brought to California during the time of the Gold Rush of 1849. This led to Buddhism being practiced and taught throughout the United States. This presented the fact that religions come to America and spread greatly across to many people, making the United States a huge participant in the spread of religions. While religions come to America to be spread, there are some that may not reach as many people as wanted. Religions tend to only spread if there are enough people willing to follow the practices or teach its ways. Without people, a religion can die off and not spread like that of Christianity or Islam. This why people are what makes religions spread the most. Throughout history, religions have been developed and

While everyone scrambles to find the most effective way to harness solar, wind, and water power, they forget about a form of producing energy that has been researched for 70 years and is only a hair s breadth from being usable(26). Fusion, the same power that fuels the sun, could fuel the world s homes and cars. A 1000 megawatt coal fired power plant requires 2.7 million tons of coal per year(21) whereas proposed fusion powerplant designs only require 250 kilos of fuel per year to produce more power(22).That s 1/10800000 of the fuel required to run a coal fired plant. Even with all fusion could accomplish, funding for it has been cut dramatically in the past few years because of the inability of scientists to attain sustained fusion. Fusion is the key to ending our dependence on coal, oil, and natural gas because sustained fusion would produce 4 million times the energy that current methods produce and the fuel is harmless and readily available.(thesis statement) Producing electricity in almost any power plant is a very similar process. In each, a fuel heats water into steam, which then flows through pipes to spin turbines. When the turbines spin they produce usable power. The main difference between the power plants are the form of fuel used and how it is used. In a coal fired, wood, or natural gas power plant the fuel

Magnificent Pythagorean Paradoxes In Ancient Greece Subsequent to the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great, the ancient Greeks established possibly the greatest center of learning at the time in Alexandria. Indeed, history purports that perhaps this great library rivaled even the great library in Athens, especially considering the fact that the Alexandrian library produced such significant mathematical figures as Archimedes and Euclid, the works of whom likely depended on the earlier works of great Greek mathematicians like Thales and Pythagoras (Lahanas, 2016). The premise behind the paradoxes was that the method of describing motion using Pythagorean thought, treating numbers solely as discrete, arguably demonstrated the impossibility of motion. His four paradoxes illustrating this line of thinking are The Dichotomy, Achilles and the Tortoise, The Arrow, and The Stadium. The paradox presented in The Dichotomy is that a race, from beginning to end, is a finite distance. Zeno purported that there are infinitely many half distances, which meant that you could never reach the end, according to Pythagorean thought. This paradox offered a precedent to the idea of the limit of an infinite sequence, in that an infinite number of half distances can add to a finite distance. Achilles and the Tortoise presented a similar paradox about infinite measures within a finite distance, and demonstrated that the boast of Achilles, that he could beat the tortoise even when the tortoise had a head start, could not come to fruition based on Pythagorean thought. The Arrow presented a paradox between the Pythagorean thought, that discrete units of instances make up time, and the premise that if Pythagoreans were correct then the arrow could not move. Thus, claimed Zeno, time must be continuous and not discrete. The Stadium presents a situation which proves that there is no smallest unit of time, as Pythagoreans believed, and therefore time must be both finitely divisible and infinitely divisible (Andrews, Development of calculus: More about the paradoxes, 2016). Although Zeno s arguments were sound, they did not negate the influence that Pythagoras had on the study of mathematics. Indeed, another famous Greek philosopher, Plato, professedly transferred his knowledge of Pythagorean mathematics to one of his students, Eudoxus (Lahanas,

The cells are quite large and their complexity rivals that of a human cell. This makes them a good alternative to things like human tissues. The cells do not cost much to grow and require little resources to culture effectively (Ciliate Genomics, nd). They are ciliate protozoa. Like humans, they mate, but for different reasons. They do not mate to reproduce, they mate to survive. There are seven different sexes and they numbered one through seven. This high number of sexes opens up many doors in the world of mating, therefore Tetrahymena are not as limited as other creatures on Earth. For example, Humans only have two sexes which limit us drastically in the world of mating (Zoologger, 2015). In order for Tetrahymena to mate the cells must be starved of nutrients, mature, and must be a different sex. The same two sexes cannot mate (Ciliate Genomics, nd). Tetrahymena have two nuclei. The germline nucleus and the somatic nucleus. The germline nucleus is also known as the micro nucleus, which controls the complicated sex life. The macronucleus, or somatic nucleus, deals with the everyday functions of the cell (Zoologger, 2015). The Gender of the offspring cells is determined during the mating. Fertilization results in a new micro and macro

This is made evident throughout Shakespeare s plays such as in, twelfth night the role reversal is generally temporary and only admitted by the servants master. The battle of the Alamo was a battle at the Alamo between America and Mexico over Mexico s northern land. In the early 1800s Spanish troops were stationed in the abandoned chapel of the former mission. Since the beginning of time our genetics have been changing constantly due to a lot of different aspects. Some causes of change include aging. As we get older our bodies chemicals change, we produce more and less of certain chemicals, for example; insulin. The changing of chemicals affect our body not just on the outside, but on the inside. It affects the way our genetic markers respond and can alter them. Some diseases are caused by a genetic mutation, or permanent change in one or more specific genes which can be caused by aging. Most epigenetic changes that occur in sperm and egg cells get erased when the two combine to form a fertilized egg in a process called reprogramming. This reprogramming allows the cells of the fetus to start from scratch and make their own epigenetic changes. However, scientists think that some of the epigenetic changes in parents sperm and egg cells may avoid the reprogramming process and make it through to the next generation. If this is true, things like the food a person eats before they conceive could affect their future child. Scientists now think epigenetics can play a role in the development of some cancers. For instance, an epigenetic change that silences a tumor suppressor gene, such as a gene that keeps the growth of the cell in check, could lead to uncontrolled cellular growth. Another example might be an epigenetic change that turns off genes that help repair damaged DNA, leading to an increase in DNA damage, which in turn, increases cancer risk. (US, National Institutes of Health) Another reason our genetic markers change over time is because we get diseases, also called a genetic disorder. A genetic disorder is a disease that is caused by a change or mutation in an individual s DNA sequence. These mutations can be due to an error in DNA replication or due to environmental factors, such as cigarette smoke and exposure to radiation, which cause changes in the DNA sequence.
