Essay On Place
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Place" can be both a challenging and intriguing endeavor. The
difficulty lies in capturing the essence of a location, which goes beyond mere physical attributes.
A successful essay on place delves into the emotional, historical, and cultural dimensions,
requiring a nuanced understanding and a keen ability to convey the atmosphere.
Firstly, identifying a specific place to focus on can be a daunting task. Whether it's a natural
landscape, a bustling city, or a quaint village, the writer must choose a location that resonates
personally and offers ample material for exploration. This initial selection process demands
thoughtful consideration and introspection.
Once the place is chosen, the challenge deepens as the writer must navigate the delicate balance
between vivid description and analytical depth. Mere enumeration of physical features falls
short; the essay must breathe life into the place, conveying its unique character, its people, and
the emotions it evokes. Striking the right chord between sensory details and broader reflections
requires a deft hand.
Furthermore, delving into the historical and cultural aspects of a place demands thorough
research and a comprehensive understanding. It's not just about what the eye perceives but also
about the layers of history, traditions, and stories that have shaped the place over time. The
writer must seamlessly weave these elements into the narrative, creating a tapestry that not only
informs but also engages the reader.
In addition to the challenge of content, the structural aspect of the essay is equally crucial.
Balancing descriptive passages with reflective moments, maintaining a cohesive flow, and
ensuring that every word serves a purpose – these are all essential considerations. The writer
must guide the reader through the essay, creating a journey that mirrors the experience of being
in the place itself.
In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on "Place" may seem formidable, it is also an
opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. It demands a careful interplay of creativity,
research, and structure. The writer must navigate the complexities of a chosen location,
transcending the physical to capture the essence that makes it unique. With patience, diligence,
and a genuine connection to the subject, the challenge can transform into a rewarding
exploration of the concept of place.

What Does Henry Fleming Symbolize In The Red Badge Of
Courage
John Tunis exposes Henry Fleming s true nature and emotions through examples of
motif and symbolism in his novel The Red Badge of Courage.
Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed
are: the idea of becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of
courage. Although the amount of time from the beginning of the book to the end is
only a couple of days, the amount of character development within Henry is
tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and fantasizes about
battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles
all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and
fire. In visions he had seen himself in many struggles... (P. 5). But, at the end of the
book he is a man who has experienced the real gore and grit of war and as he walks
away from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most popular examples of this literary device is the use of wounds,
more specifically the red badge of courage and what it really represents. In regards
to Henry s guilt Tunis narrates, At times he regarded the wounded soldiers in an
envious way. He conceived persons with torn bodies to be peculiarly happy. He
wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this quote
quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that
not a blessing? But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did
not have a wound to show on the outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot.
He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought bravely and courageously for his
country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red badge of courage
symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their country
and men most importantly, it proves this to other people. And, not having a red
badge of courage made Henry feel

1.What is the overall marketing strategy for the company, and how is it developed?
Data Masons strategy is focused directly on programs and investments that target the
Microsoft Dynamics community, which consists of Microsoft Dynamics based
companies, Microsoft Dynamics reselling partners and Microsoft Dynamics
employees. In this community, repuptation and relationship management are equally
weighted with technology evaluation at the time of vendor evaluation and selection. In

What role do internal and external market factors play in developing these strategies?
Specifically, what factors have a significant impact on your marketing strategies?
Selling a complementary solution to Microsoft Dynamics products, Data Masons
maintains its execution strategy but adapts its messaging to align with Microsoft s
evolving goals and product roadmap. Data Masons makes sure that it can support
each value prop that Microsoft promotes to the community investing in its products.
This gives the company a competitive edge over competitors who are unable to
evolve their messaging as their products cannot truly support Microsoft s strategy.
Internally, reporting to show the ROI is important. For example, we have dropped
our investment in sponsoring and/or attending regional Microsoft user group events
as we have not shown to convert a lead into a customer from these events. On the flip
side, we have invested more resources in hosting webinars given our ease in tracking
registration, attendance and conversion into a customer.

My Life Short Story
Story About My Life During the summer of 2017 life was perfectly fine, not
worrying about stress and being carefree and single. This is why it was carefree
and fun first I had a job at McDonald s which I thought was going to be boring and
dreadful but it turned out that I loved it the managers they were nice and I was
very good at every job they gave me and then when paycheck day came I was cut
400 dollars which didn t bother me much at first because the manager said he
would fix it I just had to give him all of my hours that I worked. Giving him all of
my hours was easy to do so I did that with no problem. After I gave him my hours 2
weeks have passed and I still never got my full paycheck then finally I talked to the
managers which apparently they had no clue about it and told me to talk to
another manager and then after that my brother took a vacation to Washington
state and never came back so I was done at that point I walked out and then a few
days later they gave me my paycheck s and begged me to come back, I considered
coming back but after all of that annoyance I wanted to have a good summer so
instead I never went back. This didn t hinder me of the good summer I wanted so
from there the summer truly began. After putting up with that I went fishing with
my Dad and for the first 3 days we didn t catch one thing but we never lost hope so
we kept giving another shot and my Dad caught a 10 lb. Largemouth Bass which
was the first time I ve ever seen a Largemouth
My Favorite Character
Beethoven once said, Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.
If someone told me two years ago that a musical about a dead founding father would
change my life, I would have called them crazy. However, two years after the
premiere of Hamilton I am proud to say that a musical about Alexander Hamiltondid
indeed change my life.
Hamilton: An American Musical is my favorite Broadway show of all time. I have
listened to the album over 100 times, and have put on multiple one woman shows;
attempting to recreate the forty six song production. Above all, my favorite character
is Eliza Hamilton.
Eliza goes through an enormous transformation throughout the show; from a shadow
of a girl to a strong willed woman.

For most of my life, I could be categorized as an Act I Eliza . I was a people pleaser;
a follower, never a leader. I never wanted to do anything wrong, because I did not
want to be humiliated. It wasn t until high school that I started to break out of my
shell. I was transitioning from a class of forty four to a high school with 450 kids in
my grade alone. I wanted to be like Act I Eliza : just a member of the ensemble in the
production of life. However, I knew I couldn t live that way. I was becoming a
doormat; people would walk all over me since I never stood up for myself. I had to
make a change, and not live my life in fear.
So just like Eliza, I made a change. I started voicing my opinions, whether they
agreed with the majority or not. I participated in lively debates with people, tried
out for sports I had never played before and joined clubs about things I was
passionate about. I am now on a board for underprivileged Catholic schools across
Chicago, the secretary of the NHS, and a starter for the lacrosse and basketball team.
Most importantly, I have stopped doing things to please others and started doing
things to please and better myself.
Eliza Hamilton is my inspiration because she found the strength within herself to
reassert her agency. She did not need to rely on her husband to secure her legacy
because she took the reigns and chose what she wanted to do with her life.

ABSTRACT
Buchi Emecheta is one of the growing numbers of African women writers who have
set their authorial eyes on the conditions of women living both on their home
continent and abroad. She takes her place among Tsitsi Dangarembga, Miriama Ba,
Bessie Head, Ama Ata Aidoo, Lauretta Ngcobo, and Lindsey Collen, to name a few,
as writers who have formed an intense new voice of African womanhood. Emecheta
has published more than twenty works; including the novels Double Yoke, The
Bride Price, Head above Water, Destination Biafra, and Kehinde. Each is an
exploration of what it means to be a woman and a mother in rapidly evolving
societies where traditions and mores are in a constant state of flux. While some of
her novels mirror her own experience as an expatriate living in London, her work
mostly focuses on her native country of Nigeria. The Joys of Motherhood is among
her most pivotal works, as it offers critical commentary on colonialism, tradition,
capitalism, and women s roles as they come to affect one woman, Nnu Ego, and her
family

Magnetic Data Essay
3.DATA AND METHODOLOGY 3.1. Magnetic Data The used data are based on
the reduced to pole (RTP) aeromagnetic data (Fig. 2) with contour interval of 20 nT,
scale 1:250,000 (total field of the area is 41,400 nT, inclination angle is 37.4

the Eastern Desert and the Red Sea, based on Meshref (1990) and available in Saad

The centroid of the magnetic source Z0 can be estimated by fitting a straight line
over the low wavenumber portion of the radially averaged frequency scaled power
spectrum as shown in the flowing formula: ............ (2) Where D is a constant.
Therefore, Zt and Z0 of the magnetic body can be determined. The basal depth (Zb)
of any magnetic source can be resulted (Okubo et al., 1985; Tanaka et al., 1999) as:
Zb= 2Z0 Zt........................ (3) The obtained bottom depth (Zb) of the magnetic

expression of the map by assuming that the anomalies of any magnetic map are
come from a group of vertical magnetic prisms. Smith et al. (1974), Boler (1978)
and Connard et al. (1983) applied the expression of this energy power spectrum to
define the depth of the deepest magnetic layer. To link the CPD (Zb) with the Curie
point isotherm (580ВєC), the vertical direction of temperature variation and the
constant geothermal gradient were assumed. The geothermal gradient (dT/dZ) from
the CPD (Zb) to the earth s surface can be derived (Tanaka et al. 1999;
Othello And The Western Canonical Presentation Of His
Race...
Othello and the western canonical presentation of his race, has been reproduced
numerous times throughout history. The post colonial writings of Morrison and
Chatterjee tackle how Othello and the presentation of his race are exploited as a form
of entertainment. They write back and explore the relationship between Othellos
racial identity and the harm viewing raceas a form of entertainment can have
culturally in a globalised world.
Othello is presented as a story devised by Desdemona in Morrison s play. He claims
[w]hat excited you was my strange story... fantastic adventures, stories of freaks and
miracles (Morrison and TraoreМЃ 51) and that she fancied the idea (50) where he is
reduced to a tale she has devised. He becomes a concept which belongs to
Desdemona and like a story, his character, becomes a tool for her entertainment.
Othello loses ownership in the presentation of his culture as the perception of his
culture becomes her (Western) view. Desdemona s entertaining fantasy of Othello
concerns the exotic. It is presented negatively, as his entertainment value relates to
the bizarre being strange [and full of] freaks and miracles (51); it echoes the idea
of a freak show exploiting abnormalities. The image of the exotic foreigner (50) is
further developed too by Desdemona s own view of Othello with his sword at his
side (50) . While conversing with Othello she avoids using personal pronouns and
engaging the physical man before her to her own

Operant Conditioning in the Criminal Justice System
July 12, 2015
Psychology plays a very important role in the field of criminal justice. It is needed
to help assess individuals who commit crimes, as well as, help to be a predictor of
criminal behavior. Utilizing theories such behaviorism and operant conditioning,
individual behavior is able to be assessed by the response to learning what actions
result in rewards and what actions result in punishment. As a result of how
individuals respond to rewards and punishment, learned behaviors have the possibility
to be deterred or corrected.

Behaviorism is a very important foundational theory in psychology. ... Show more

Operant conditioning applies to many areas in both everyday life and in the criminal
justice system. If you are late to work every day to work or you don t complete work
that is assigned to you than you can be demoted, have a decrease in pay or possibly
lose your job. All of these are consequences to behaviors that have been displayed
over time.
Applying operant conditioning to the criminal justice provides very useful
information. It helps in the development of laws and regulations as well as
determines reasons why individuals commit crimes. This theory can also, after study,
possibly be a predictive of individuals who commit crimes and also provide ideas on
how to deter criminal behavior.
Criminal Statutes
Criminal statutes are enacted by federal and local governments in order to deter
criminal behaviors and activities in order to protect citizens. Laws and statutes were
developed in order to ensure that citizens act in an appropriate manner or face the
consequences of their actions. They also reflect expectations of appropriate and
inappropriate behaviors that have been set for local, state, and federal governments.
Operant conditioning applies to the enactment of criminal statutes in many ways.
Society has been studied to determine what acceptable and unacceptable behaviors
are. As a result of these studies and the enactment of statutes, they have identified
those actions by citizens that are not desirable or dangerous

The Black Mirror Episode Shut Up And Dance
With every action, there is a consequence. It is so ever often that someone can do a
misdeed and receive nothing from it. However, there would still be speculation from
it. So if nothing happens, does the person move on with their lives, or does it haunt
them until they confess? Well, it depends on the person. One can be paranoid of their
surroundings, while the other can forget about what they did and move on. If
someone commits a crimeand it caught, there will be a consequence. It can either be
shortly after the crime, or years later. Frankly, someone will have to face the
consequences. The criminal just has to deal with it and realize their actions are what

It will go in 2 directions. One will be where they hide what they did and accidentally
commit more crimes, while the other is that they found pleasure in committing the
crime and want more of that feeling. The first direction includes someone being
paranoid and doing things they do not want or that they usually would never do. It
gets to a point where they have done enough damage and it breaks the person. They
cannot deal with it anymore and turn themselves in since they have nothing to lose
anymore. They lost themselves in the mess and the only way out is to accept it and
come out with the truth. The other direction goes as such: the person commits the
crime and they feel good about it. They get that high that boosts their confidence and
they love that feeling. They need more of it. Therefore, they will continue to do more
crimes and with each one, it escalates so they can get the same high as the first one.
Each one gets worse and so on until they get caught. At that point, they are feeling so
high that they are unaware of the situation until they calm down and realize what is
happening. One can go either direction, but facing the consequence is
Abigail Adams And The Revolutionary Time Period
If we mean to have heroes, statesmen and philosophers, we should have learned
women. Abigail Adams (Brainy Quote). In the 1700 s, most women were
uneducated and thought little about education and knowledge of the intricate
workings of government and society. However, one woman saw the value of
education and free thinking way before most of her contemporaries. In Abigail
Adams, a biography by Charles W. Akers, a unique perspective of the revolutionary
time period is displayed through the eyes of Abigail Adams by contrasting the way
women were treated generally during that time period with the way Adams was
treated. Through her eyes, the reader is exposed to not only her views but the way
others viewed her as well. When studying a biography, it is important to know
about the author in order to be able to determine his motivation for writing the
biography. The author of Abigail Adams, Charles W. Akers (1920 2009), was a
U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II from 1942 to 1946. His experiences
in World War II and with the Navy deepened his inherent historical interests. When
his military career ended, he delved into education by teaching at Oakland University
in the history department and penned several award winning historical books.
Abigail Adams was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and actually won the prestigious
Colonial Dames of America Annual Book Award. Akers graduated from Eastern
Nazarene College and went on to receive his masters and doctorate

My song of choice is Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) by Marvin Gaye.
The song was written about inflation, financial, and tax troubles by most people
within the inner cities. The song was written in the early 1970 s but it is still true
to see people struggle with the same problems. He references how money is made
but before it s seen it s taken, this is referring to how a person s pay check is mostly
consumed by taxes. Every day tax payers are the ones who earn a working wage to
provide for themselves and their families. We the people are taxed in various ways
not just through our paychecks but also when making purchases: food, clothing, some
utilities, and we can continue naming more. Then further in the song Gaye writes:

Homeless Organization
Some people might think that the people living on the streets don t have a home
because they didn t make use of opportunities while they could. Even though that
may be true for some, others didn t have the best childhood and didn t have the
money to go to school and be successful. I am here to give them a second chance and
renew themselves. I am creating an organization to build tiny homes for the homeless.
I have done some research about different tiny homes communities. There are several
in the US that have wanted to house the homeless, but none have specifically wanted
to create an organization and expand. One is located in Austin, Texasand they serve
the homeless food with a food truck. My goal is to be able to expand from Texas and
go into surrounding states as well. There are roughly 565,000 homeless people in
the US that need our help, 20,000 of those are located in Texas. If you have ever
been to the DallasFort Wortharea, you have probably seen some around the streets.
Texas has tons of acres of empty land that we can make these communities on and

don t have to be just big companies; it can be locals who want to support us. I was
thinking we should have a donation box where you can donate supplies, furniture,
appliances, and even toys and clothes for the kids. Getting furniture and appliances
will cut the cost of the house tremendously. The big sponsors I would love to have
would be Lowe s and Home Depot. They would help us with all the supplies (wood,

How A Submarine Works
Have you ever wondered how a submarine works? There are many parts to a
submarine. Each part contributes to how the submarine works. The parts also do
many different things. Submarines are basically a watercraft cable of independent
operation under water. It is different from a submersible that has more limited
underwater capability. Beginning in ancient times, humans sought to operate under
water. From simple submersibles to nuclear powered underwater behemoths, people
have searched for a means to remain safely underwater to gain the advantage in
warfare, resulting in the development of the submarine. It was first built in 1620.
Today s attack and ballistic submarines are made from special steel and/or titanium
that are needed to withstand the pressures of the 1,000 depths at which they operate.
US submarines use a hi pressure, flexible steel known as HY 100, while the Russian
boats are made from very expensive titanium.... Show more content on

Theater Process Essay On Black Friday
For our theater project, my group and I decided to focus on showing how much our
American culture has become obsessed with obtaining materials, even to the point of
hurting others without giving one ounce of thought. In our world today, some people
are very focused on getting the latest, greatest object and what better day than Black
Fridaysums up how materialistic we, as Americans, have become. My group wanted
to choose something in our current world that was easy to joke around with,
without greatly offending others. We chose to have our story revolve around Black
Friday because of the upcoming holiday season and because of how absurd people
can act when trying to get the best deals. At the beginning of the process, we divided

Student Dismissal Letter
To the Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Advising,
I am writing this letter to address the email I received that has denied my admission
into Saint Leo University. My hope in writing this is to have that decision overturned
so I can enter this exceptional institution and complete the goals I have set for myself
in higher education. As noted in the denial letter my cumulative GPA from prior
education was less than a 2.0 average, for which there is no excuse. Poor
performance in a collegiate environment is something that is completely
unacceptable, and I would appreciate the chance to show how I plan to remedy this
situation and complete my scholastic objectives at the highest level.
When fresh out of high school at 18 years of age, I decided to enroll in the local
community college to begin my education. I made this decision even though I had a
scholarship offer to play in the band at Troy State University. Unfortunately, there
was a desire to stay in the local area with the idea that I could still hang around with
an unfortunate group of friends who had decided college was not for them. That
choice was certainly an error on my part. Instead of giving all of my efforts into ...

Essay On Tata Nano
The following project lays down the marketing strategy of a small size car, Tata Nano.
It begins with introducing the car, the beginning of it s manufacturing. And then it
goes on to describe why Ratan Tata s dream project couldn t realize the huge
expectations that were laid upon it. It further mentions market analysis of India s
Automotive industry, segmentation of the huge market and the appropriate target
segment selected for the product. It then entails how the product is to be positions in
the minds of the target audience and how that goal can be achieved; finally ending
with the conclusion of the report.

The Story Of The Gadarene Demoniacs
Introduction
The story of the Gadarene demoniacs in Matthew 8:28 9:1 begins with the
conclusion of another miracle. After calming a storm out at sea, Jesus disembarks in
Gadara. He encounters two possessed men living in the tombs who are making it
difficult for people to pass by. The men recognize Jesusas the Son of God and call
out to him defensively. Before Jesus even acknowledges them, the demons ask to
be sent to a heard of swine, if they are to be cast out. Jesus simply says Go! and the
demons go into the pigs, which immediately rush down a bank into the sea and
drown. The pig herders tell the town what they saw and the townspeople beg Jesus to
leave.
Matthew s version of this pericope is significantly shorter than the parallel ... Show

The demons ask to leave in a certain direction, Jesus sends the demons away, the pigs
run away, the swineherds run away, and the townspeople send Jesus away.
Outline:
1.Jesus arrives and encounters the demoniacs
2.The demoniacs ask why he is there
3.There are pigs not so nearby
4.The demons beg to go to the pigs
5.Jesus says go
6.The demons go into the pigs
7.The pigs run away and die
8.The swineherds go to tell the town
9.The townspeople come and beg Jesus to go
10.Jesus goes back across the sea
This passage is the fifth in a set of six miracle pericopes. Starting at the beginning
of chapter eight, Jesus heals a leper, heals a dying servant, heals Peter s mother in
law and many others, calms a storm, casts out the demons from the Gadarenes, and
heals a paralytic. The stories are divided in two sets of three, separated by a strange
interlude about the followers of Jesus. The second set of miracles emphasizes
strongly the response to Jesus work in each pericope. The calming of the storm
prompted astonishment and confusion. The casting out of the demons provoked
rejection by the townspeople. Finally, the healing of the paralytic inspired awe and
worship in crowds that observed the miracle. He seems to be traveling alone to
Gadara, in contrast to travelling with crowds in the surrounding pericopes.
In the context of the wider Gospel of Matthew, the story of the Gadarene demoniacs
Little Red Riding Hood By Charles Perrault
In the version of Little Red Riding Hood , Charles Perrault makes the story into a
life lesson for young female children. Charles Perrault twisted the ending of the
story by instead of Little Red tricking and getting away from the big bad wolf; she
was eaten by the wolf and so was her grandmother. Not so happy ending, but it has a
point to it. Little Red Riding Hoodin this version is the representation of all young
females that are or have been targeted or victimized by any adult. Here in the text it
explains how and why Charles Perrault chose Little Red Riding Hood to make his
point. Charles Perrault s version of Little Red Riding Hood was told in a way that

Charles Perrault has a side note at the end of his writing of the moral of the story,
in it he states, Children, especially attractive, well bred young ladies, should never
talk to strangers, for if they should do so, they may well provide dinner for a wolf.
He said calls predators wolf because no one knows what they are going to do, who
they are going to get, how sneaky they are, and the urgency of having to feel that
dominate side. That is why children, especially little girls, are always the target to
these predators.
Overall, Charles Perrault reconstructed the story of Little Red Riding Hood so that
Little Red has a purpose. Little Red Riding Hood in the story is the symbol for all
the young female children society group. She was initially picked because of her
actions throughout the story that are so commonly found in our society today. Older

Vinegar Experiment
Objective The purpose of this experiment was to use stoichiometry to calculate the
volume and percent yield of COв‚‚ produced from a reaction of acetic acid (vinegar)
with baking soda.
Procedure
First the balloon was weighed on its own, and its mass was 2.8 grams. Then the
container with the sample of baking soda was weighed and its mass was 14.0 g.
The baking soda was then placed into the balloon and the mass was 6.4 g. Lastly,
the container minus the baking soda was weighed in order to be used to calculate
the mass of the baking soda on its own, and the empty container s mass was 10.3 g.
In the final step of measuring the mass of the baking soda the amount of moles in
the balloon was calculated by dividing the determined mass in grams (3.7g) by the
molecular weight of NaHCOв‚ѓ (84.01 g) to get .004 moles of baking soda. Next, the
volume of vinegar was measured using a graduated cylinder. The amount of vinegar
measured was 49.8 mL and then poured into an empty bottle. To find the mass of
vinegar in the soda bottle the density equation used. The density of vinegar (1.01 g
/mL) was multiplied by the volume of vinegar measured (49.8) to get the mass of
vinegar (50.3 grams). Next, the moles of just acetic acid in the bottle were calculated.
Vinegar is 7% acetic acid so the mass of vinegar was multiplied by .07 to determine
the mass of CHв‚ѓCOOH in grams. Then the 3.52 g was divided by the molar mass
of CHв‚ѓCOOH (60.04 g) to get 0.059 moles of CHв‚ѓCOOH in the soda bottle. In

The major advances in civilization are processes that all but wreck the societies in
which they occur (A.N Whitehead). Marshall Mcluhan, the author of The Medium
is the Massage, would agree to this and add that electronic technology is reshaping
and restructuring patterns of social interdependence and every aspect of our
personal life (McLuhan, 8). He would argue that society has always been shaped
by the medium of the media affecting everything from government to family,
leaving no part of us untouched. Using the alphabet for example, is a technology
which is absorbed at a very early age in a completely unaware manner. Words and
the meaning of words predispose the child to think and act automatically in certain
ways (McLuhan, 8). McLuhan would add that electronic technology does this in
the exact same way, as it encourages unification, involvement, and commitment. As
we grow to learn more about each other, [w]e have become irrevocably involved
with, and responsible for, each other (McLuhan, 24). If we don t conform
McLuhan believes we will eventually enter into an Age of Anxiety , where we ... do
today s job with yesterday s tools with yesterday s concepts (McLuhan, 9). This
causes us to live in a rear view mirror society, and McLuhan says one must use tools
of the present to make sense of the present. George Orwellauthor of 1984 would have
a lot to say about this particular topic for instance, Who controls the past controls the
future. Who controls the
Time Blocking Method
Utilize the Methodology of Time Blocking
Multitasking has been proven to be ineffective when it comes to efficiency. People
think that they are able to get more done by trying to tackle everything at once, but
in reality, you re pulling yourself in too many directions at once. Eliminate this effect
of being pulled like taffy by developing your own time blocking method. There are a
few things that you need to consider when it comes to creating time blocks for your
schedule. As a physician, you probably have already started using time blocking
method as the way to handle patients, but you can put this method to work for you for
your entire schedule.
Determine Your Priorities
The first thing that you need to do is determine what priority level each of your tasks
happen to be at for you. This means that you need to decide what priorities are
topping your charts. Then, you re able to block time out for these particular tasks.
You should be able to focus on getting your number one priority completed without
any other distractions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s time to change the way that you think about scheduling your blocks of time. It
can be helpful to start thinking about the events that happen in your day and what
you need to accomplish. Try to schedule your time around the things that are
happening in your day, and what tasks are necessary to handle in a particular day.
This will make it easier to block off your time to help you minimize those
distractions that can occur. For instance, if you know that you ll have an important
call or appointment during the day, you ll want to start either far enough in advance
that you won t have to pause what you re doing to take care of that event, or wait
until afterwards to schedule this
Marrying Absurd
Joan Didion s essay Marrying Absurd is a comical review of Las Vegas and its
wedding business. It gives the reader a more in depth look at the things they
always expected were happening in Nevada but were never concerned enough
about to do the research. While I already knew most of the information in the essay,
Didion presented it in such an entertaining, sarcastic manner that I was never bored.
Without coming right out and saying just what she thought of the industry she told
us exactly how she felt about the Las Vegas spur of the moment way of life by
choosing her words very carefully. All of these services, like most others in Las

Didion ends her essay in the most effective way possible, with one last story to tie it
all together. The picture of the wedding party sipping pink champagne (minus the

shows that the Las Vegas wedding is probably not the real desire but the necessity,

Pressure Distribution Around Symmetrical Aerofoilc
Pressure Distribution around a Symmetric Aerofoil
Abstract:
The following report is based on an experiment conducted to calculate the lift curve
slope for a symmetrical aerofoil subjected to varying angles of attack. Pressure
readings were taken at different points on the upper and lower surface of the aerofoil.
The report concludes that maximum lift is generated between 12 Вє 15Вє, which is
also the stall point. It also states that region close to the leading edge contributes most
to the lift force.
Introduction:
This experiment is designed to measure the static pressure distribution around a
symmetric aerofoil, find the normal force and hence to determine the lift curve slope.
For zero angle of attack the pressure distribution is ... Show more content on

From the graphs above it can be seen that maximum suction for all the angles (except
4Вє) exists at Hole 1, which is 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface.
The angle of attack at which most suction is achieved is 11Вє where the CP value
reaches 3.0; and it increases as the angle of attack is increased or decreased from
11Вє.
The CP values at the trailing edge vary for different angles. They all range between 0
and 0.5. It is maximum at 4Вє and 0Вє while it is minimum at 16Вє.
For all positive angles, the lowest CP values are found around 1.27 mm from the
leading edge on the upper surface while the highest CP values are found around
2.29mm from the leading edge on the lower surface of the aerofoil. Such that, the
maximum differences in the CP values exists at these points, which are closest to the
leading edge. The bigger the difference between CP values the greater the lift force
as the suction is maximum. Therefore, it can be concluded that the region close to the
leading edge of the aerofoil contributes most to the lift force.
The Lift Coefficient CL is calculated using the graphs 1 6. In this report counting the
squares method is used to calculate the area between the curves for pressure
distribution on the upper surface and lower surface. The area gives the lift coefficient
at particular angles
Drug Court Model Essay
The federal prison population has increased dramatically over the past two decades
with drug offenders carrying mandatory minimum sentences, playing a significant
role attributing to its increase population (Saris, 2013). The twin attack on drug
offenses due to the creation of Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1986 led to the largest and
fastest growing category in prisonpopulations. Many of the drug offenders
incarcerated were nonviolent offenders with 21 percent admitted in 1991 were
reported to not having a single incidence of criminal violence in their background
(Murphy, 1997; Webster, 2015). With the lack of discretion judges had in sentencing
non violent drug offenders based off a restricted guideline grid, many across the
states began devising an alternative. In 1989, States Attorney of Dade County in
Florida, Janet Reno and Judge Stanley Goldstein established the first ever drug court

Understanding The Ghost In Hamlet
In the play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is approached by the
ghost of his recently passed father, the King of Denmark, and tells that he has been
killed by his brother, and the new king, Claudius. He asks Hamlet to avenge his death
by killing Claudius. Hamlet contemplates his options and eventually becomes
adamant in his mission to murder Claudius. In Act III, Scene II, Hamletorganizes a
play that re enacts the death of his father and believes that if it was Claudius who
murdered the King, he will surely react to the scene. When the scene unfolds,
Claudius gets upset and leaves. After, Hamlet confronts his mother and hears
someone behind the curtain in her room. Thinking that it is the King spying on them,
he stabs the curtain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Murphy, he presents the purpose of the Ghost to the plot, and also explores
Shakespeare s intent for the Ghost, as well as different religious associations that
have been made with the Ghost. He then delves into the argument of whether the
Ghost is speaking to Hamlet in return from Hell or from purgatory. He uses Lewes
Lavater s Of Ghosts and Spirits Walking By Night (1572) to understand the Ghost
and how Shakespeare may have used his text to form the Ghost specifically
between the Catholic and Protestant argument points, and also between good and
evil. Murphy argues that, based upon Lavater s guide, we can gain a greater
understand of Hamlet once we have a greater understanding of the Ghost. Lavater
writes that there are specific points that make a ghost good or evil, and Murphy uses
them to prove that the Ghost in Hamlet is neither decidedly good nor evil. He
believes that Shakespeare may have done this on purpose. Murphy also uses Lavater
s writings to prove that Hamlet was sane when seeing the Ghost, because others in
the play had seen the apparition as well, and spoke about it (Murphy). Murphy uses
examples from writings by Stephen Greenblatt, who also formed the school of
thought known as new historicism. New historicism aims to understand intellectual
history through literature and is also heavily influenced by Foucault. Murphy uses
this critical school of thought to understand the Ghost in Hamlet via the history and
relation to Lavater s writing. My argument is that although this literary text holds
great knowledge in further understanding the Ghost in Hamlet, the relationship with
Hamlet s parents before the King s death influences many of Hamlet s decisions
throughout the play. A possible paper title might be Life as a Child in the Palace

The Impact of Small and Medium Sized Businesses on Jobs and the Economy
Introduction
The term SME is commonly used to refer to Small and Medium sized Enterprises.
The term covers a variety of definitions as well as measures. However, in most of
the various definitions of what is an SME, employment is the most widely used
criterion for categorizing the size of the firm. Moreover, SMEs are often defined as
businesses with fewer than 500 employees. However, a number of countries,
including some in the European Union use a lower cutoff of 250 employees. SMEs
are important in the economy because they have some unique benefits to the
economy chief among these being employment and job creation among others. The
following discussion explores the impact of SME to the economy, especially in
regards to employment and the creation of jobs among others.
Discussion
It is already apparent that SMEs are very important in an economy. SMEs make up
over 95% of enterprises and
Eleanor Roosevelt s Role Of Women
While I spoke there was complete silence. It was striking after the pandemonium that
had existed....on several occasions [Franklin] said to others, Her speech was just

to the First Lady at the 1940 Democratic National Committee in Chicago while she

people (Roosevelt 216 218). No other First Lady before Eleanor had taken as many
steps as she did to improve the nation. She helped to pave the way for future
women, redefining feminism and aiding in the progress of improving the lives of
those in both the United States and abroad (First Lady Biography: Eleanor
Roosevelt). Coming from beginnings filled with public service, not only did
Eleanor Roosevelt drastically change the role of the First Lady, but she also
modernized the role of women in society through all stages of her life. Very early I
became conscious of the fact that there were people around me who suffered in one
way or another (Roosevelt 12). Even from an early age, Eleanor surrounded herself
with opportunities to serve others. This early exposure to public service led her to
continuously help others around her. When her husband, Franklin Roosevelt was
appointed Assistant Navy Secretary in 1913 under the Wilson administration, Eleanor
became actively involved with two organizations in particular working to bring aid to

Catholic Church During The Fifteenth Century
The Catholic Church during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries was plagued by
internal corruption that caused discontent among its followers. The church beginning
in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries increasingly became a system in which
aristocrats were able to increase their wealth. In large numbers these aristocrats
began to occupy the highest offices available to the Catholic clergy. However, for
many aristocrats holding just one high office was not enough to satisfy their desire
for increased wealth. This greed led to the practice of pluralism, which was the
holding of multiple church offices by one individual. These aristocrats often times
would then hire an underqualified individual to work the office for them. This

Literary Elements In The Rape Of The Lock
Analyse Rape of the Lock as a Mock Epic Poem.
In the 18th century, the theory of literature is supported by the poet practices of the
classical writers of Greece and Rome. According to the Neoclassical, human nature
has been best understood, analyzed and expressed by the classical writers. Therefore
nothing created by the modern writers. Most neoclassical writers follow the masters
of the craft but take care while modifying theories. Hence neoclassic writers fit the
needs of age. The sense of society subject is an important element to address in
neoclassical theories.
In English language, Rape of the Lock is one of a poem by Alexander Pope. It has
implied epic background ideas that made it a famous and a successful mock epic
poem. It indicates to quote from, imitates and satires specific lines and incidents

when Socrates questions his friends, quot; Can you think of any tactics to make them
believe this story. quot; This is the style of Socrates dialectic. Before one can give an
opinion of a subject, that is how it should be, one has to define the subject.
Socrates says, quot;I ve got a pretty good idea of what you re getting at, I said, it
would help them care even more for the community and for one another. But the
future of all this will be decided by popular consensus, not by us. quot; So we can
see right here that Socrates has a good idea of what a good community is, but he
wants his friends to
Invisible Man Downfall
The character Invisible Man serves as an ideal pawn to explore societal control in
America. He is astute, articulate and ambitious and begins the novel with the naГЇve
belief that he can control his destiny through hard work and humility. He is a
talented orator and gets an opportunity to speak to a group of important white men
at an event. At this event before his speech, he is made to participate in the Battle
Royal which is a preplanned battle between other young black men who fight
blindfolded in a ring. Invisible Man worries that the battle might detract from the
dignity of the speech (18) but complies with it and even feels a sense of superiority
over the other young men. As the brutal chaos ensues, Invisible Man is still
concerned about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is Dr. Bledsoe who is incredulous about Invisible Man s naГЇvetГ©s to
society and states, But you don t even know the difference between the way things
are and the way they re supposed to be. (142) Likewise, the Vet whom Invisible
Man meets at the Golden Day bar tries to disillusion Invisible Man to the reality of
the world when he states He registers with his senses but short circuits his brain.
Nothing has meaning. He takes it all in but does not digest it (94). Ellison uses
Invisible Man as a token to expose that the American Dream is a societal construct
used to inspire people to believe blindly in the system that dooms them to fail. This
literally and figurative blinds the characters in the book to the contradiction of the
American Dream which makes it invalid. As Invisible Man painfully learns, the
American Dream is like a dream or a childhood fairytale that does not truly depict
how American society works. American society in Invisible Man is depicted as a
contradictory society whose leader is an unknown, yet powerful puppet master who
holds everyone by the strings. Even despite American citizens best efforts, like
Invisible Man s attempts at upward mobility, they are controlled by a master who
uses everyone for some secret and ironic purpose. The blindness Ellison symbolizes
in Invisible Man is the American blindness to this

Lucy Cao Dr. Roth AP Lit 23 Aug 2015 How to Read Literature Like a Professor
Log Chapter 1: Every Trip is a Quest (Except When It s Not) From this chapter, In
learned that the truth behind all quests is to find self knowledge. Most of the time,
the people on the quest are young and inexperienced, but by the end of their
adventure, they ve found their niche, and completed their mission. There is always
a quester, a place to go, a reason to go, challenges and trials en route, and the real
reason to go. Chapter 2: Nice to Eat with You: Acts of Communion When you eat
with someone, this usually implies that you like them, and you want peace. Every
communion does not have to be holy communion like in churches, but it is a bond
and the communion forms a relationship between the groups. When the
communion is between groups of disliking, there is major tension and the act of
eating might not even commence. Chapter 3: Nice to Eat You: Acts of Vampires
To be a vampire, you have to take something from someone else to benefit yourself,
whether that be anything from blood to money. Vampires weren t always what we
see today in Twilight. Vampirism does not always have to do with vampires but
selfishness, exploitation, and refusal to respect. Chapter 4: Now Where Have I
Seen Her Before? This chapter states that there is no such thing as a truly original
work of literature; books are always based off of works before them. This further
develops into the idea that there is only one story,

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, otherwise known as W.E.B Du Bois,
accordingly introduced the idea of double consciousness which he described to be a
person whose identity can be merged into a unity that they and the nation could be
proud, as stated in The Norton Anthology of African American Literature by Henry
Louis Gates and Valerie Smith (Gates and Smith, page 682). Throughout history, the
stories behind the lives of African Americans has been recognized as a tough,
ongoing battle. The fine line between white and black, has been the core reason of
prejudice beliefs. Beliefs such as African American s being inhuman, aggressive,
unworthy of equality and liberty, etc., have lead to misconceptions of them as
individuals. Being that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wheatley has then been one of the most discussed author s over time she has been
one of the most controversial and enigmatic figures on the history of African
American literature (Gates and Smith, page 137). She was born in Senegambia in
West Africa and was enslaved in America. Because she was of African descent, she
had grew up in a prejudice social order and was considered illiterate like the rest of
the slaves. However, Wheatley decided at a young age, that these social identities
wouldn t be the only characteristics defining her persona, so in addition to being a
Negro, a woman, and a slave; being a poet was ultimately her truest identity.
Her poems surfaced the community and shocked those around her since poetry
was considered the highest expression of an indisputable proof of genius. How can
an African American be a genius? Her audience, the white community, was not
easily convinced that Wheatley s work was completely hers, hence, she was after
all an African American. Her audience needed explanations and proof as to why
and how she chose to be a writer to begin with and also the certification that her
work was legit. The Poems on Various Subjects offers an authentic proof of the
credibility of Phillis Wheatley for having written her work. As an audience, we can
infer that this proof of documentation was provided to demonstrate the legitimacy of
her work and it was a challenge
How Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents Essay
How the Garcia girls lost their accents by Julia Alvarez talks about the four girls
fleeing to the united states after their father s attempt to overthrow dictator is
undiscovered. They arrived in Brooklyn, New York to a life totally different from
the one back home where their name inspired respect and had dozens of maids
serving them fine foods in silverware, but had to live in fear of uncles disappearing
by the hand of the secret police. In the new world their parents try to hold onto their
old traditions, but the girls have a different idea and instead try to find new lives for
themselves but find themselves caught between the old and the new world. The novel
tells their struggle to fit in and to express/communicate themselves. The story is all
about one of the many aspects of the immigrant experience; language barrier and the
power of word/being able to express oneself. The book is extremely popular among
Hispanic immigrants for its relatableness. Although an unpopular opinion, I wouldn t
recommend Millennials to read the novel because its complex storyline, poor

reader experience the book as an immigrant; always going back to their homeland,
however it can make it difficult to follow through. There are also some poor
transitions between stories, Such as in Trespass , Carla was sexually harassed by a
pervert in a lime green car on her way home from school and her struggle to tell the

The Consequences Of Dehumanization In The Movie The
Island
David Livingstone, professor of philosophy at the University of England, once
wrote, Dehumanization isn t a way of talking. It s a way of thinking a way of
thinking that, sadly, comes all too easily to us. Dehumanization is a scourge, and has
been so for millennia. It acts as a psychological lubricant, dissolving our inhibitions
and inflaming our destructive passions. As such, it empowers us to perform acts that
would, under other circumstances, be unthinkable . The film The Island is set in the
21st century where Lincoln Six Echo, among others, live in a confined community
due to the world no longer being inhabitable. The only place in the outside world still
able to sustain humanlife is an island where community members are chosen to live
through a lottery system at least that is what Lincoln Six Echo and the rest of the
people are instilled to believe. The real truth is that Lincoln as well as everyone
else in this community are actually clones used to supply organs to the people s
DNA that they share, and the island is where these clones go to die in order to give
their organs. When he realizes that the island and his existence are both lies,
Lincoln decides he has to escape to the outside world to save Jordan Two Delta. Out
in the world, Lincoln and Jordan are on the run as they try and figure out a way to
not only save themselves, but to save everyone else still back in the community.
Michael Bays Film, The Island, demonstrates the dehumanizationof Lincoln,
Public Goods And Social Expenditure Essay
Public Goods and Social Expenditure
In politics, there are many ways that people identify themselves in society. These are
broken down into two main categories: ethnic and national identity. Ethnic identity is
a group s specific characteristics or societal institutions that make the group culturally
different from others. Ethnic identities are often based on customs, language,
geographic locations, history, race, religion, and many other factors. People do not
choose their ethnicities, they are born into them, and their ethnic identity will remain
constant throughout their lives. Within a single ethnic group are characteristics that
embody norms and standards for behavior that are specific to that group. Most
countries and places in the world are not accustomed to have a single ethnic group,
and can vary from a couple to thousands of ethnic groups within a territory. National
identity is an institution that brings the sense of belonging to a nation and a belief in
their political aspirations. This involves a high demand of freedom through
sovereignty and involves a large demand for equality. National identity can
occasionally develop from ethnic identities and is inherently political. For example,
an ethnic identity can provoke ideas against already existing political systems in
which their members believe that they are lacking certain rights and freedoms. This
interaction between ethnic and national identity is present in many countries in
which an ethnicity gains a
History Of National History Day District Competition
Oh, have I caught your attention? Obviously, I did, with such an eye catching blog
post title like that. Apparently Marc Gamayo beat me to a blog post of National
History Day District competition (I should have done it early, aaaaa) that took
place at Ewa Makai Middle School where participants would be interviewed for
their projects and to know who are going to state competition. Warning! Super long
schedule of what I did on Saturday for NHD district competition. Skip to end for a
recap of what I did and thoughts from the experience. For my group s interview,
Quincee and me (yes, sadly there was no Jacob), to my surprise, went well. I say
this because I can say that I was prepared and there was little to no hesitation in
answering or responding to my interview, making a good impression; however, my
partner only spoke once and that was due to not being able to hear our speaker and
the eye contact confused him (Quincee). After the interview, there wasn t much to
do since our interview finished at about 9:07 or so and there were no available
activities, so we (Quincee and me) explored the campus a bit more, and I have to
say I m impressed; the campus was more complex, the campus displayed wise
students, and had air conditioning that was spread to pretty much every area
(except the bathroom), so sorry, (I m gonna get hate from this) I think our school is
inferior to this school. After exploring, it was about 9:35 and we headed back to the
cafeteria for some reason I don
The Importance of the Wise Use of Genetic Engineering
Human species has been suffering at the hands of disease since their genesis. Our
relation with each other is such that if one suffers in pain, his suffering and pain
touches rest of the humanity. It is now in our domain to use this new technology
called Genetic Engineering to ameliorate human suffering and pain. We should make
sure that this technology is only used for the betterment of humanspecies and not
selectively. It is indeed horrifying to know that someone wants to use this as a tool
for eugenics or to alter the human race altogether. I totally agree with the specter
mentioned in the book Babies by Design by Ronald M. Green (2007), that in case a
human weakness has been eliminated through genetic engineering, and the few
parents who opt for a natural conception run the risk of producing low quality
invalids who become members of a despised under class. I am against selective
genetic manipulation that will produce several classes of human species, which
will be classified as good, better, best. I tend to disagree with Bill Mckibben on If I
am a world class runner, but my parents inserted the sweatworks2010genepack in
my genome, can I really feel pride in my accomplishments (ENOUGH 2003). Yes sir
I can, because my gene carried an imperfection. It has been tweaked a bit to enhance
my performance and that s all there is to it. No qualms about it whatsoever. Humans
have far more genetic defects than animals. We need to fix these defects once and for

Essay on Robert Frost Mending Wall
It is no secret how Robert Frost feels about walls after reading his poem Mending
Wall . To say that Frost admired and favored walls would be a lie. On the contrary,
based on his poem it is apparent that he would prefer there be no walls present. I
was led to ask myself, what type of wall is Frost referring to? It is not merely a
physical wall made of stone, but a barrier that people place among each other to
create an illusion of separation and protection. The style of the poem makes it simple
to read, however when you take a closer look into the poem, you discover a whole
new meaning. Frost uses a variety of techniques throughout his poem such as
metaphor, symbolism and imagery to help us understand his feelings and how those
feelings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Isn t it/ where there are cows? But there are no cows here (Line 29 31). Ironically
he also states, I have come after them and make repair/ where they have left not one
stone on a stone (Line 6 7). He is otherwise saying that although he feels the repairing
of the wall is unnecessary, in order to maintain peace between his neighbor he will
rebuild the unnecessary wall. It would make sense to simply have Frost leave the
wall alone, thus ending the separation, but he chooses not to, indicating that he too
finds comfort in the presence of the wall. One of the first things that I noticed
about the style of the poem was that it was not broken up into stanzas, when looked
at sideways gave the illusion of a wall with gaps. It is a series of lines which become
a poem that is written as a blank verse iambic pentameter. Each line consists of ten
syllables with the exception of Lines 8, 16, 24, 26, 27, 28, 37, 43, 45, which
contain eleven syllables. At first glance it is easy to overlook this detail, but once it
is noted the question arises, what is the significance in these particular lines? In
lines 26 and 45 the neighbor says to Frost, Good fences make good neighbors , we
also learn in line 43 that, He (the neighbor) will not go behind his father s saying .
These particular lines are important because they help us to understand that the
presence of the wall is something that was instilled in the neighbor. By taking note
that the mending of the wall
The Opening Chapter Of Lord Of The Flies, By William
Golding
The opening chapter of Lord of the Flies is very important because it establishes
characters and their power between each other. Without the first chapter we would
know very little about the boys, their individual characteristics, backgrounds,
appearance and most importantly the power and conflicts between each other.
In chapter one Golding introduces the characters appearance, the first person he
describes is Piggy. Appearances are essential because they define their personality. He
was shorter than the fair haired boy and very fat. Piggy s description is ironically
similar to a pig because pigs are typically short and very fat . Ralph is described a
boxer due to his golden body and heaviness of shoulders he is the complete

The Effect of Savings Rate in Canada
THE EFFECT OF SAVINGS RATE IN CANADA The impact of savings rate in an
economic has become a very conflicting issue in research and among economist all
over the world. This may be due to the importance of savings generally to the
economic growth and development of any nation. However, the structure of every
economy cannot be generalised by a particular economics variation because various
countries have different social security and pension schemes, and different tax
systems, all of which have an effect on disposable income. In addition, the age of a
country s population, the availability and ease of credit, the overall wealth, and
cultural and social factors within a country all affect savings rates within a particular

Outer Conditions And Strengths That Can Impact The...
For any association, the earth comprises of the arrangement of outer conditions and
strengths that can possibly impact the association. On account of Subway, for
instance, nature contains its clients, its adversaries, for example, McDonald s and
Kentucky Fried Chicken, social patterns, for example, the move in the public eye
toward more advantageous eating, political substances, for example, the US
Congress, and numerous extra conditions and strengths.
It is helpful to break the idea of nature down into two segments. The general
environment (or macro environment) incorporates general patterns and occasions in
the public arena, for example, social patterns, innovative patterns, socioeconomics,
and financial conditions. The business (or aggressive environment) comprises of
various associations that on the whole contend with each other by giving comparable
products, administrations, or both.
Each move that an association makes, for example, raising its costs or propelling a
promoting effort, makes some level of changes in it s general surroundings. Most
associations are constrained to impacting their industry. Metro s turn to cut salt in its
sandwiches, for instance, may lead other fast food firms to return to the measure of
salt contained in their items. A couple of associations employ such power and impact
that they can shape a few components of the general environment. While most
associations essentially respond to major innovative patterns, for instance, the
activities
Symbolism In Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand, a prominent political figure in the 1930s and 40s, wrote Anthem, which is
known for it s political stances during the late 1930s, particularly on the political
dilemmas during that time. On the other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals
represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the overall setting, and the two
main characters in Rand s literary work.
One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult)
situation can be a strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of
the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making
her a symbol of his light, his happiness. Yet we call them the Golden One, for they
are not like the others. The Golden One are not like the others (Rand, Anthem). Here
Equality has begun calling her The Golden One, saying that she is different from
everyone else. This insinuates that she is the source of his happiness, similar to the
idea of the housewife: her purpose is to provide a happy and calm house for the man
to come home to. Therefore, the theme of light and its representation for happiness,
demonstrates gender ideals and constructs from Ayn Rands time.
The literary piece is set in a place where men and women are separated and do not
experience interaction except at the Palace of Mating, where men or women have sex,
without any emotional connection or relationship. The separation of men and women
insinuates there would be less control over the

The Selfish Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Linda, a character from Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman is a selfish housewife.
She pretends to care about her husband, but in reality, prefers that he kill himself so
that she can live an easier life.
Linda is given nothing but motive for wanting her husband, Willy, to die because of
the ways he mistreats her. For example, during a family conversation in Act I, Linda,
trying to put in a few words, says, Maybe things are beginning to change , with Willy
coming in right after her, (wildly enthused, to Linda)Stop interrupting!... (1187)
Linda, trying desperately to be a part of the conversation, is constantly denied her
voice. Always under Willy s control,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their whole marriage has been a lie and Linda strives for a moment of peace. Too
scared to reveal the truth, Linda holds her motives in and allows Willy to trip until he
falls.
Along with her motives, Linda attempts to keep any voice of reason away from
Willy, showing that her selfish desire of her well being is more important than his.
In a discussion with her boys in Act I, Linda says, I m I m ashamed to. How can I
mention it to him? Every day I go down and take away that little rubber pipe. But,
when he comes home, I put it back where it was. How can I insult him like that?
(1184) Linda claims that acknowledging the truth about Willy s possible attempt to
kill himself is an insult. But, in order to develop a solution to any preoblem, one must
start with the truth. Linda merely wants to accommodate Willy s mental problems
rather than get rid of them, causing him to stay in his troubled state of mind. In
another conversation in Act II, Linda tries to push Biff away from speaking with his
father:
Linda: You re not going near him. Get out of this house!
Biff: (with absolute assurance, determination) No. We re going to have an abrupt
conversation, him and me.
Linda: You re not talking to him. (1221)
Linda does not want Biff talking to Willy in fear that her indisposed attemp to keep
Willy in his troubled state of mind will be unraveled. But in reality, Willy needs to
hear the truth rather than the promotion of a dead end dream. Linda,
My Experience In Music
I wanted to tell you about my experience in the world of music and how it helped
me express myself and I started to find my talents as well as learn who I was and to
not let bullying stop me from doing what I loved to do. I used to think that I did not
have great skills in the music field. Even though everyone in my family is a music
person I did not learn or get the skills like they did. But I did not want to take gym
because I got teased a lot for it. I was bullied a lot in school so wanted to try
something new in middle school and my only other option was band and even
though I was teased for being in band and being called a band geek it s a step that
started to change my experience in life and how I interacted with others and my
confidence to try new things and have confidence in myself and to trust myself. I
was in the 6th grade and I was just trying to figure out who I was. I started out
looking at all the instruments they had. Then the band director had us try several of
the instruments. Well let s just say I did not like the trumpet, flute my hands could not
fit well on that and most girls played that as well so I wanted something different. I
was then asked to try the tuba which is was not happy about but I did but my teacher
then showed me the bass clarinetit was different but smaller than the tuba and bigger
then the flute or trumpet. I knew i did not want to do a brass instrument I told him
that I did not feel like that it was me. But I m so glade he gave me

Essay On Place.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Place Crafting an essay on the theme of "Place" can be both a challenging and intriguing endeavor. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of a location, which goes beyond mere physical attributes. A successful essay on place delves into the emotional, historical, and cultural dimensions, requiring a nuanced understanding and a keen ability to convey the atmosphere. Firstly, identifying a specific place to focus on can be a daunting task. Whether it's a natural landscape, a bustling city, or a quaint village, the writer must choose a location that resonates personally and offers ample material for exploration. This initial selection process demands thoughtful consideration and introspection. Once the place is chosen, the challenge deepens as the writer must navigate the delicate balance between vivid description and analytical depth. Mere enumeration of physical features falls short; the essay must breathe life into the place, conveying its unique character, its people, and the emotions it evokes. Striking the right chord between sensory details and broader reflections requires a deft hand. Furthermore, delving into the historical and cultural aspects of a place demands thorough research and a comprehensive understanding. It's not just about what the eye perceives but also about the layers of history, traditions, and stories that have shaped the place over time. The writer must seamlessly weave these elements into the narrative, creating a tapestry that not only informs but also engages the reader. In addition to the challenge of content, the structural aspect of the essay is equally crucial. Balancing descriptive passages with reflective moments, maintaining a cohesive flow, and ensuring that every word serves a purpose – these are all essential considerations. The writer must guide the reader through the essay, creating a journey that mirrors the experience of being in the place itself. In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on "Place" may seem formidable, it is also an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. It demands a careful interplay of creativity, research, and structure. The writer must navigate the complexities of a chosen location, transcending the physical to capture the essence that makes it unique. With patience, diligence, and a genuine connection to the subject, the challenge can transform into a rewarding exploration of the concept of place. • 2. What Does Henry Fleming Symbolize In The Red Badge Of Courage John Tunis exposes Henry Fleming s true nature and emotions through examples of motif and symbolism in his novel The Red Badge of Courage. Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed are: the idea of becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of courage. Although the amount of time from the beginning of the book to the end is only a couple of days, the amount of character development within Henry is tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and fantasizes about battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. In visions he had seen himself in many struggles... (P. 5). But, at the end of the book he is a man who has experienced the real gore and grit of war and as he walks away from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most popular examples of this literary device is the use of wounds, more specifically the red badge of courage and what it really represents. In regards to Henry s guilt Tunis narrates, At times he regarded the wounded soldiers in an envious way. He conceived persons with torn bodies to be peculiarly happy. He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this quote quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that not a blessing? But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did not have a wound to show on the outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot. He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought bravely and courageously for his country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red badge of courage symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their country and men most importantly, it proves this to other people. And, not having a red badge of courage made Henry feel

The company sells direct to end users (companies) and through Microsoft s Partner Channel. Just a little knowledge to help put things in perspective below. ;) 1.What is the overall marketing strategy for the company, and how is it developed? Data Masons strategy is focused directly on programs and investments that target the Microsoft Dynamics community, which consists of Microsoft Dynamics based companies, Microsoft Dynamics reselling partners and Microsoft Dynamics employees. In this community, repuptation and relationship management are equally weighted with technology evaluation at the time of vendor evaluation and selection. In ... Specifically, what factors have a significant impact on your marketing strategies? Selling a complementary solution to Microsoft Dynamics products, Data Masons maintains its execution strategy but adapts its messaging to align with Microsoft s evolving goals and product roadmap. Data Masons makes sure that it can support each value prop that Microsoft promotes to the community investing in its products. This gives the company a competitive edge over competitors who are unable to evolve their messaging as their products cannot truly support Microsoft s strategy. Internally, reporting to show the ROI is important. For example, we have dropped our investment in sponsoring and/or attending regional Microsoft user group events as we have not shown to convert a lead into a customer from these events. On the flip side, we have invested more resources in hosting webinars given our ease in tracking registration, attendance and conversion into a customer. 3.What is the company s approach to market research? This is why it was carefree and fun first I had a job at McDonald s which I thought was going to be boring and dreadful but it turned out that I loved it the managers they were nice and I was very good at every job they gave me and then when paycheck day came I was cut 400 dollars which didn t bother me much at first because the manager said he would fix it I just had to give him all of my hours that I worked. Giving him all of my hours was easy to do so I did that with no problem. After I gave him my hours 2 weeks have passed and I still never got my full paycheck then finally I talked to the managers which apparently they had no clue about it and told me to talk to another manager and then after that my brother took a vacation to Washington state and never came back so I was done at that point I walked out and then a few days later they gave me my paycheck s and begged me to come back, I considered coming back but after all of that annoyance I wanted to have a good summer so instead I never went back. This didn t hinder me of the good summer I wanted so from there the summer truly began. After putting up with that I went fishing with my Dad and for the first 3 days we didn t catch one thing but we never lost hope so we kept giving another shot and my Dad caught a 10 lb. Largemouth Bass which was the first time I ve ever seen a Largemouth
  • 5. My Favorite Character Beethoven once said, Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. If someone told me two years ago that a musical about a dead founding father would change my life, I would have called them crazy. However, two years after the premiere of Hamilton I am proud to say that a musical about Alexander Hamiltondid indeed change my life. Hamilton: An American Musical is my favorite Broadway show of all time. I have listened to the album over 100 times, and have put on multiple one woman shows; attempting to recreate the forty six song production. Above all, my favorite character is Eliza Hamilton. Eliza goes through an enormous transformation throughout the show; from a shadow of a girl to a strong willed woman. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most of my life, I could be categorized as an Act I Eliza . I was a people pleaser; a follower, never a leader. I never wanted to do anything wrong, because I did not want to be humiliated. It wasn t until high school that I started to break out of my shell. I was transitioning from a class of forty four to a high school with 450 kids in my grade alone. I wanted to be like Act I Eliza : just a member of the ensemble in the production of life. However, I knew I couldn t live that way. I was becoming a doormat; people would walk all over me since I never stood up for myself. I had to make a change, and not live my life in fear. So just like Eliza, I made a change. I started voicing my opinions, whether they agreed with the majority or not. I participated in lively debates with people, tried out for sports I had never played before and joined clubs about things I was passionate about. I am now on a board for underprivileged Catholic schools across Chicago, the secretary of the NHS, and a starter for the lacrosse and basketball team. Most importantly, I have stopped doing things to please others and started doing things to please and better myself. Eliza Hamilton is my inspiration because she found the strength within herself to reassert her agency. She did not need to rely on her husband to secure her legacy because she took the reigns and chose what she wanted to do with her life. Although this musical has helped me

  • 10. Othello And The Western Canonical Presentation Of His Race... Othello and the western canonical presentation of his race, has been reproduced numerous times throughout history. The post colonial writings of Morrison and Chatterjee tackle how Othello and the presentation of his race are exploited as a form of entertainment. They write back and explore the relationship between Othellos racial identity and the harm viewing raceas a form of entertainment can have culturally in a globalised world. Othello is presented as a story devised by Desdemona in Morrison s play. He claims [w]hat excited you was my strange story... fantastic adventures, stories of freaks and miracles (Morrison and TraoreМЃ 51) and that she fancied the idea (50) where he is reduced to a tale she has devised. Othello loses ownership in the presentation of his culture as the perception of his culture becomes her (Western) view. Desdemona s entertaining fantasy of Othello concerns the exotic. It is presented negatively, as his entertainment value relates to the bizarre being strange [and full of] freaks and miracles (51); it echoes the idea of a freak show exploiting abnormalities. It is needed to help assess individuals who commit crimes, as well as, help to be a predictor of criminal behavior. Utilizing theories such behaviorism and operant conditioning, individual behavior is able to be assessed by the response to learning what actions result in rewards and what actions result in punishment. Operant conditioning applies to many areas in both everyday life and in the criminal justice system. If you are late to work every day to work or you don t complete work that is assigned to you than you can be demoted, have a decrease in pay or possibly lose your job. All of these are consequences to behaviors that have been displayed over time. Applying operant conditioning to the criminal justice provides very useful information. It helps in the development of laws and regulations as well as determines reasons why individuals commit crimes. This theory can also, after study, possibly be a predictive of individuals who commit crimes and also provide ideas on how to deter criminal behavior. Criminal Statutes Criminal statutes are enacted by federal and local governments in order to deter criminal behaviors and activities in order to protect citizens. Laws and statutes were developed in order to ensure that citizens act in an appropriate manner or face the consequences of their actions. They also reflect expectations of appropriate and inappropriate behaviors that have been set for local, state, and federal governments. Operant conditioning applies to the enactment of criminal statutes in many ways. Society has been studied to determine what acceptable and unacceptable behaviors are. As a result of these studies and the enactment of statutes, they have identified those actions by citizens that are not desirable or dangerous

In the 1700 s, most women were uneducated and thought little about education and knowledge of the intricate workings of government and society. However, one woman saw the value of education and free thinking way before most of her contemporaries. In Abigail Adams, a biography by Charles W. Akers, a unique perspective of the revolutionary time period is displayed through the eyes of Abigail Adams by contrasting the way women were treated generally during that time period with the way Adams was treated. Through her eyes, the reader is exposed to not only her views but the way others viewed her as well. When studying a biography, it is important to know about the author in order to be able to determine his motivation for writing the biography. The author of Abigail Adams, Charles W. Akers (1920 2009), was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II from 1942 to 1946. His experiences in World War II and with the Navy deepened his inherent historical interests. When his military career ended, he delved into education by teaching at Oakland University in the history department and penned several award winning historical books. Abigail Adams was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and actually won the prestigious Colonial Dames of America Annual Book Award. Akers graduated from Eastern Nazarene College and went on to receive his masters and doctorate

Even though that may be true for some, others didn t have the best childhood and didn t have the money to go to school and be successful. I am here to give them a second chance and renew themselves. The parts also do many different things. Submarines are basically a watercraft cable of independent operation under water. It is different from a submersible that has more limited underwater capability. Beginning in ancient times, humans sought to operate under water. From simple submersibles to nuclear powered underwater behemoths, people have searched for a means to remain safely underwater to gain the advantage in warfare, resulting in the development of the submarine. It was first built in 1620. Today s attack and ballistic submarines are made from special steel and/or titanium that are needed to withstand the pressures of the 1,000 depths at which they operate. The casting out of the demons provoked rejection by the townspeople. Finally, the healing of the paralytic inspired awe and worship in crowds that observed the miracle. Vinegar Experiment Objective The purpose of this experiment was to use stoichiometry to calculate the volume and percent yield of COв‚‚ produced from a reaction of acetic acid (vinegar) with baking soda. Procedure First the balloon was weighed on its own, and its mass was 2.8 grams. Then the container with the sample of baking soda was weighed and its mass was 14.0 g. The baking soda was then placed into the balloon and the mass was 6.4 g. Lastly, the container minus the baking soda was weighed in order to be used to calculate the mass of the baking soda on its own, and the empty container s mass was 10.3 g. In the final step of measuring the mass of the baking soda the amount of moles in the balloon was calculated by dividing the determined mass in grams (3.7g) by the molecular weight of NaHCOв‚ѓ (84.01 g) to get .004 moles of baking soda. Next, the volume of vinegar was measured using a graduated cylinder. The amount of vinegar measured was 49.8 mL and then poured into an empty bottle. To find the mass of vinegar in the soda bottle the density equation used. The density of vinegar (1.01 g /mL) was multiplied by the volume of vinegar measured (49.8) to get the mass of vinegar (50.3 grams). Next, the moles of just acetic acid in the bottle were calculated. Vinegar is 7% acetic acid so the mass of vinegar was multiplied by .07 to determine the mass of CHв‚ѓCOOH in grams. Then the 3.52 g was divided by the molar mass of CHв‚ѓCOOH (60.04 g) to get 0.059 moles of CHв‚ѓCOOH in the soda bottle. In

For zero angle of attack the pressure distribution is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the graphs above it can be seen that maximum suction for all the angles (except 4Вє) exists at Hole 1, which is 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface. The angle of attack at which most suction is achieved is 11Вє where the CP value reaches 3.0; and it increases as the angle of attack is increased or decreased from 11Вє. The CP values at the trailing edge vary for different angles. They all range between 0 and 0.5. It is maximum at 4Вє and 0Вє while it is minimum at 16Вє. For all positive angles, the lowest CP values are found around 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface while the highest CP values are found around 2.29mm from the leading edge on the lower surface of the aerofoil. Such that, the maximum differences in the CP values exists at these points, which are closest to the leading edge. The bigger the difference between CP values the greater the lift force as the suction is maximum. Therefore, it can be concluded that the region close to the leading edge of the aerofoil contributes most to the lift force. The Lift Coefficient CL is calculated using the graphs 1 6. In this report counting the squares method is used to calculate the area between the curves for pressure distribution on the upper surface and lower surface. Murphy, he presents the purpose of the Ghost to the plot, and also explores Shakespeare s intent for the Ghost, as well as different religious associations that have been made with the Ghost. He then delves into the argument of whether the Ghost is speaking to Hamlet in return from Hell or from purgatory. He uses Lewes Lavater s Of Ghosts and Spirits Walking By Night (1572) to understand the Ghost and how Shakespeare may have used his text to form the Ghost specifically between the Catholic and Protestant argument points, and also between good and evil. Murphy argues that, based upon Lavater s guide, we can gain a greater understand of Hamlet once we have a greater understanding of the Ghost. Lavater writes that there are specific points that make a ghost good or evil, and Murphy uses them to prove that the Ghost in Hamlet is neither decidedly good nor evil. He believes that Shakespeare may have done this on purpose. Murphy also uses Lavater s writings to prove that Hamlet was sane when seeing the Ghost, because others in the play had seen the apparition as well, and spoke about it (Murphy). Murphy uses examples from writings by Stephen Greenblatt, who also formed the school of thought known as new historicism. New historicism aims to understand intellectual history through literature and is also heavily influenced by Foucault. Murphy uses this critical school of thought to understand the Ghost in Hamlet via the history and relation to Lavater s writing. My argument is that although this literary text holds great knowledge in further understanding the Ghost in Hamlet, the relationship with Hamlet s parents before the King s death influences many of Hamlet s decisions throughout the play. Very early I became conscious of the fact that there were people around me who suffered in one way or another (Roosevelt 12). Even from an early age, Eleanor surrounded herself with opportunities to serve others. This early exposure to public service led her to continuously help others around her. When her husband, Franklin Roosevelt was appointed Assistant Navy Secretary in 1913 under the Wilson administration, Eleanor became actively involved with two organizations in particular working to bring aid to those in need, the

The church beginning in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries increasingly became a system in which aristocrats were able to increase their wealth. In large numbers these aristocrats began to occupy the highest offices available to the Catholic clergy. However, for many aristocrats holding just one high office was not enough to satisfy their desire for increased wealth. This greed led to the practice of pluralism, which was the holding of multiple church offices by one individual. These aristocrats often times would then hire an underqualified individual to work the office for them. This practice,

In this paper, I will attempt to examine what this moral political community is according to Plato and John Rawls. My thesis will support Plato s idea of moral political communitywhich is better than John Rawlsbecause it presentsa community with order and a concern for the well being of all not just one. According to Plato in the words of Socrates, quot; I assume that if a community has been found properly, it has everything it takes to be good. quot; The keywords from this phrase being quot;found properly quot; and quot;has everything to be good. quot; In what follows I will... Also, a guardians proper, son, can become an auxiliary or a worker if he does not have the capacity to do the job of a guardian. In all this I can see that Socrates, being a philosopher and wise, is hesitant to give the answer. Certainly, he has a belief about the matter being said and was ready to give his friends the answer, but after reading the dialogue of the Republic, one would conclude that Plato wants his readers and his questioners to be active participants in the dialogue. This can be seen when Socrates questions his friends, quot; Can you think of any tactics to make them believe this story. quot; This is the style of Socrates dialectic. Before one can give an opinion of a subject, that is how it should be, one has to define the subject. Socrates says, quot;I ve got a pretty good idea of what you re getting at, I said, it would help them care even more for the community and for one another. But the future of all this will be decided by popular consensus, not by us. quot; So we can see right here that Socrates has a good idea of what a good community is, but he wants his friends to

Most of the time, the people on the quest are young and inexperienced, but by the end of their adventure, they ve found their niche, and completed their mission. There is always a quester, a place to go, a reason to go, challenges and trials en route, and the real reason to go. Chapter 2: Nice to Eat with You: Acts of Communion When you eat with someone, this usually implies that you like them, and you want peace. Every communion does not have to be holy communion like in churches, but it is a bond and the communion forms a relationship between the groups. When the communion is between groups of disliking, there is major tension and the act of eating might not even commence. Chapter 3: Nice to Eat You: Acts of Vampires To be a vampire, you have to take something from someone else to benefit yourself, whether that be anything from blood to money. Vampires weren t always what we see today in Twilight. Vampirism does not always have to do with vampires but selfishness, exploitation, and refusal to respect. Chapter 4: Now Where Have I Seen Her Before? This chapter states that there is no such thing as a truly original work of literature; books are always based off of works before them. This further develops into the idea that there is only one story,

  • 46. Public Goods And Social Expenditure Essay Public Goods and Social Expenditure In politics, there are many ways that people identify themselves in society. These are broken down into two main categories: ethnic and national identity. Ethnic identity is a group s specific characteristics or societal institutions that make the group culturally different from others. Ethnic identities are often based on customs, language, geographic locations, history, race, religion, and many other factors. People do not choose their ethnicities, they are born into them, and their ethnic identity will remain constant throughout their lives. Within a single ethnic group are characteristics that embody norms and standards for behavior that are specific to that group. Most countries and places in the world are not accustomed to have a single ethnic group, and can vary from a couple to thousands of ethnic groups within a territory. National identity is an institution that brings the sense of belonging to a nation and a belief in their political aspirations. This involves a high demand of freedom through sovereignty and involves a large demand for equality. National identity can occasionally develop from ethnic identities and is inherently political. For example, an ethnic identity can provoke ideas against already existing political systems in which their members believe that they are lacking certain rights and freedoms. This interaction between ethnic and national identity is present in many countries in which an ethnicity gains a

We should make sure that this technology is only used for the betterment of humanspecies and not selectively. It is indeed horrifying to know that someone wants to use this as a tool for eugenics or to alter the human race altogether. On the contrary, based on his poem it is apparent that he would prefer there be no walls present. I was led to ask myself, what type of wall is Frost referring to? It is not merely a physical wall made of stone, but a barrier that people place among each other to create an illusion of separation and protection. He is otherwise saying that although he feels the repairing of the wall is unnecessary, in order to maintain peace between his neighbor he will rebuild the unnecessary wall. It would make sense to simply have Frost leave the wall alone, thus ending the separation, but he chooses not to, indicating that he too finds comfort in the presence of the wall. One of the first things that I noticed about the style of the poem was that it was not broken up into stanzas, when looked at sideways gave the illusion of a wall with gaps. In lines 26 and 45 the neighbor says to Frost, Good fences make good neighbors , we also learn in line 43 that, He (the neighbor) will not go behind his father s saying . These particular lines are important because they help us to understand that the presence of the wall is something that was instilled in the neighbor. By taking note that the mending of the wall

On the other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the overall setting, and the two main characters in Rand s literary work. One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult) situation can be a strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making her a symbol of his light, his happiness.
