Marx View on Capitalism
1b. Summarize Marx s views on the market, alienation, the labor theory of value, the
surplus value, and the accumulation of capital. Are these views relevant in the 20th
century and during the contemporary globalization? If so, how? How are these views
related with Thorstein Veblens ideas? Please give specific reference to the relevant
readings.
Theory of Alienation his analysis of how people are bound to become estranged from
themselves and each other under the conditions of capitalist industrial production
(Hooker). This Theory of Alienation is often considered the philosophical
underpinning for his later more technical critique of capitalism as an economic system
(Bramann).

The factory owner has done nothing to earn the money and the $5 per hour he
receives is surplus value , representing exploitation of the worker. Even the tools
which the factory owner provided were, according to Marx, necessarily produced by
other workers (Wollstein).
According to the labor theory of value, all profits are the rightful earnings of the
workers, and when they are kept from the workers by capitalists, workers are
simply being robbed. Marx called for the elimination of profits, for workers to seize
factories and for the overthrow of the tyranny of capitalism. Basically out of the
worker labor, the companies make far more than what they paid the workers, while
the companies get richer and richer while the workers remain poor (Mandel).
There are some flaws to the labor theory of value. For example, most workers
prefer to be paid when their work is completed rather than when their products are
sold which may be months later. For workers to be paid now, rather than later,
someone must advance their wages, and clearly this service has a value. But
proponents of the labor theory would have it both ways: workers are to receive the
full future value of their product now. The final theoretical failure of the labor
theory of value is the value effort fallacy. It is folly to assume that all effort
produces value. Every day each of us wastes time on fruitless efforts. To equate labor

Gun Control Tool Essay
Is Gun Control Needed or Useless? The feeling of losing a loved one or child is a
something that no one can imagine without experiencing it. In Newtown
Connecticut on December 14, 2012, twenty parents got a call saying their child had
been killed when a heavily armed man by the name of Adam Lanza stormed into the
elementary school and opened fire. He brought with him two semi automatic pistols
and a semi automatic rifle. Police later found Lanza dead in the elementary school
after he killed himself (Aradillas, 2012). One of the reactions to this mass shooting is
to put more restrictions on gunrights. Some people believe that this will help reduce
the amount of shooting that happen. Other people believe that putting these

Heller case in 2008 and the McDonald v. Chicago case in 2010 (Holt, 2013).
The District of Columbia law makes it illegal to carry a firearm that is unregistered. It
also makes it mandatory to keep all firearms that are indoors nonfunctional. It also
prohibits the registration of handguns; therefore making it illegal to carry a handgun.
D.C police officer, Respondent Heller, wanted to register a handgun just to keep at
home, but the District denied his request. Heller filed a lawsuit hoping to enjoin the
city from enforcing the bar on handgun registration, the licensing requirement insofar
as it prohibits carrying an unlicensed firearm in the home, and the trigger lock
requirement insofar as it prohibits the use of functional firearms in the home . The
Court dismissed it, but their decision was reversed by the D.C. circuit. Their reason
for reversing the Court s decision was that the Second Amendment protects an
individual s right to own a firearm. They also stated that required that the cities ban
on handguns as well as the requirement of keeping all firearms nonfunctional violated

Supply Chain Models
Zara and Benetton s supply chain both share some common components within their
supply chain models, but a few distinguishing factors make them their own. All
supply chain models must include planning, designing, maintenance and control of
all materials and information in order to efficiently satisfy its customers needs and
wants (Schroder, 2000). Zara being known for their fast fashion is claimed to take
only two weeks to develop a new product and have shipped to stores, and ready for
shelves. Zara is a vertically integrated retailed, meaning that their supply chain is
owned by their company and usually each member of the supply chain produces a
different product or service. Unlike other apparel retailers, Zara controls most of the
steps included in their supply chain, including designing, manufacturing and
distribution of the products. Zara uses a just in time (JIT) system, with this model it
allows the company to have self containment throughout the stages of materials,
manufacturing, product completion and distribution.
On the other hand, most of the manufacturing of Benetton is done by the company
itself. But the supply side is heavily consisted of contractor s which are companies
owned, or part owned by Benetton employees. Employees that provide services to the
factories,

Why Is Shakespeare Still Used Today
Shakespeare: Why He s Still Studied Today
Shakespeare once wrote, To be, or not to be, that is the question. (Hamlet, 3. 1. 64).
This is to be considered one of Shakespeare s most famous and used quotes. Though
Shakespeare was alive and wrote many decades before our time, students are still
subjected to using his works. This leaves people with the question, why? William
Shakespeare s works are still used today due to his universal themes, uncanny ability
to take ideas and turn them into new and captivating wonders, and amazingly rich
language.
Whether or not you have read or watched one of the many fascinating works done
by Shakespeare, his name is everywhere, giving that students have contemplated at
least once or twice about this incredibly intelligent man. One of Shakespeare s most
famous plays would be the tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Though Romeo and
Juliet is one of English s most famous love stories, it shows a variation of
controversial themes. Critic Kelvin Odoobo states in his essay, Book Review:

presence of Shakespeare s emotional life in his plays...have focused on Hamlet,

play and themes that make the work come alive. Today, you can relate many of his
themes to present day literature such as books and movies. Examples include
Gnomeo and Juliet, inspired by Romeo and Juliet, The Lion King, inspired by

these works are based off the universal themes Shakespeare introduced to english
The Pros And Cons Of The Twilight Saga
The Twilight Saga s fading Limelight 2017 Childhood is not from birth to a certain
age and at a certain age The child is grown, and puts away childish things.
Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies (Edna St. Vincent Millay) is used as
an epigraph by Meyer in book one of Breaking Dawn to depict the childhood life of
the protagonist: from just an average teen, to a young mature mother, and then to
the end of the her life as a young mortal adult to her rebirth as a young adult in an
immortal realm. The Twilight Saga series is about a teenage female human named
Bella Swan, who is intertwined between the affection of a vampire named Edward

Edward Cullen mentions that he was born in Chicago in 1901 (Meyer, Twilight
287) and Bella also mentions that September thirteenth is her birthday in which
she is officially eighteen years old (Meyer, New Moon 6), based on the fact that these
first two books are set in 2005 to 2006. Edward, in reality, is actually age 104 to 105
and Bella is only 17 to 18, which shows the fact that Edward is basically a pedophile
because he is a heck of a lot older than Bella. This is true, Edward is 97 times older
than Bella, but isn t he a Vampire and actually still in his 17 year old human aged
body. Therefore, this also shows the fact now that Bella is now a year older than his
human aged body, so their relationship is safe. Even though Edward is older than
Bella by many decades, according to John Galsworthy Love has no age, no limit, and
no death (qtd. in BrainyQuote), therefore age in this sense does not matter because
Edward has eternal love for Bella. Overall, this ends and alters the negative views of
the fairy tale escape.
The addictiveness of the Twilight Saga series is due to the series similarity to a
hallucinogen of an immaculate fairy tale getaway from the real world, and how the
main character Bella Swan is identifiable with most females in real life as just a
common adolescent mademoiselle. According to shmoop.com, Meyer commented
that she intended
Susan Minot Summary
LUST.
Having read the story written by Susan Minot we come across a rather complicated
character, to be precise the narrator herself. The girl in the story has been studying
in the boarding school. It is the educational establishment of close type, so the
process of growing proceeds differently. For example if we compare the girls from
public schools and the girls from boarding schools the latest will be more dissolute.
The main reason for this is the closed social environment which fluencies the young
girls minds. So let us look closer at the narrator she was ...good at such things like
math or painting or even sports, but the second a boy put his arm around her, she
forgot about wanting to do anything else... This phrase indicates the author s real
attitude towards men and studying. She loved being in relationships with young
boys. Moreover, while being in the boarding school she had at least 5 or 6 partners.
At the same time the narrator stresses that: Lots of boys, but never two at the same
time. One was plenty to keep you in a state. So for her a man is a tool, which can
keep her in shape. To our way of thinking it is a rather thoughtless attitude towards the
relationship. Furthermore, from the conversation with the headmistress Mrs. Gunther
it becomes obvious that the narrator is astonished having known that she has had
only the one man for her life. But to be honest the headmistress has her own
understanding of the relations between the man and the woman, and it is
House of the Spirits
Keith IB English III Pereira 12/15/12 The House of the Spirits Essay In Isabel
Allende s novel The House of the Spirits, there are two definitive classes of people
that are present throughout the novel. The poor class, including the peasants of Tres
Marias and the socialist party members, has continual resentment towards the other
class, which is the wealthy aristocratic class. The wealthy division of the novel shows
little humanity towards the poor, treats the poor as servants, and control all politics
involved in the country. The wealthy s treatment of the lower class shattered the
peace experienced by Chile because the poor and the wealthy maintained a struggle to
co exist with such division between their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This attitude that the wealthy class has for those in the book ignites the resentment
felt by the poor class that resounds in the rest of the story. The inequality that is
present between these two classes is unbelievable throughout the book that even
parts of the wealthy class begin to realize the damage that their right wing
government has caused to the lower division of Chile. Even Esteban Trueba s
immediate family senses the problems that the poor face. [Clara] now took Blanca
with her on her visits to the poor, weighed down with gifts and comfort. This is to
assuage our conscience, darling, she would explain to Blanca. But it doesn t help the
poor. They don t need charity, they need justice (136). Because of this unequal
treatment of the classes and the resentment that the poor held for the wealthy, the two
classes could not continue to co exist. The incessant struggle that the lower class
faced when the wealthy controlled everything forced them to begin a revolution so
that they can finally take control of their own lives instead of living to please the
wealthy. Throughout the novel, the wealthy controlled every part of the country s
government and therefore, they controlled the country as a whole until the day that
Esteban Trueba lost the election and the socialist party came to power. This is when
the poor finally ceased to be dominated by the wealthy. They lit torches, and the
jumble of voices and dancing in the streets became a disciplined,
The Year Of 2013 And My Bowling Career
It is the year of 2013 and my bowling career is starting to kick off. In that year, I

since I have bowled this league, I have made State every single year, but never
performed as well as I should have. Hopefully, this will be the year that I make some

series of flashbacks to league morning on Saturdays. But anyways, it started with
me and my league team bowling back when I was a little kid. I remembered all of

most energetic kid in the whole neighborhood. My parents would just look at me
like I m crazy but they were probably right, I was getting a little out of hand. Once I

The King James White
James White is the director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a Christian apologetics
organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a professor and has authored or
contributed to more than twenty four books. He is also an accomplished debater.
He is an elder of the Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church, has been married to his wife
Kelli for more than thirty two years, and has two children and two grandchildren.
White s work is a very profound book that talks about the controversy in some
churches about the best translationto use: modern translations or the King James
translation. He fought against the idea of some that the King James Version is the
only true Bible. He did an excellent job defending his own views while pointing out
the errors of these groups.
Summary of the Book
The first chapter puts the King James Version Only groups on a spectrum. The least

In most of the charts he presented, White put the KJV up next to either the NIV or
the NASB (186, 266). It is understandable that everyone favors certain translations
over others, his preference for these two translations is quiet obvious throughout the
book. However, for the purpose of this book, this preference made him fail to provide
a more neutral understanding of the principles he wrote about. Actually, his
favoritism towards these translations went against his own words, But we must be
careful to avoid making the basic error of setting up one translation as the standard
over all others (169). The author would have better demonstrated this principle by
using more than just two translations in a comparison against the KJV
Definition Of Beauty
The way beauty is viewed by others is different. Everyone has their own
formulation of the term and how they carry out being beautiful. The definition of
beauty is defined in the eye of the beholder. Beauty to one individual may not be
the same definition to another. Beauty is the heart of many cultures and it
continuously practiced by everyone on a day to day basis. The idea of beauty goes
back to as far as the beginning of time. The first sign of beauty during this time was
health. Having a good health during the years of AD was all that anyone wanted
because during that time period most of the population died form being sick whether
it was due to malnourishment or of an infectious disease. If a person were healthy it
would say that that person was beautiful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Montgomery 2016) The way in which individuals looked during the late
seventeenth century took a turn. When Queen Victoria reigned, women and men
from all over the world were using white powder on their face. This era was very
uniformed and everyone was beautiful in his or her eyes. The women would want
to look just like Queen Victoria. (Fleming 2016) Everyone wanted to look wealthy
and find his or her best mate. Another factor was the way you dress indicates your
social class. If a lady has on a big gown with a long train that shows that she is very
wealthy. Women were more into the ideal image of being beautiful, as they wanted
a mate. Men would have a lit of what they would want their wives to look like. They
would want their mate to be perfect in a way. They would require women to have
perfect silhouette, lips, skin tone and even down to the shape of their fingernails.

Censorship And Censorship Of Web Content
Censoring the web
Module code: COIS40897

Abstract
This paper evaluates the restrictions, or lack of restrictions, on web content,
focusing on the political and ethical notions of the censorship of web content. The
question on many people s minds is: Should the web be censored? This author
believes it is the sole responsibility of the user, to protect themselves from un
desirable material on the web. However when it comes to child abuse, and similar
atrocities, more should be done to eliminate and block such material.

This move to censor pornography has just intentions, but this author believes that
censorship in this manner should be the responsibility of parents. Perhaps there
should be an alternative, such as, equipping parents with the tools to control their
own data consumption and block access to the content they do not wish, or do not
want their children, to have access to. Some people may wish to access adult content,
whilst denying their children access to it. Without the knowledge of self web
regulation, they would not be able to access adult content, without the risk of
exposing their children to it.
The points made by the Prime Minister (as stated above), about protecting children
from the dark online world, are completely justified. The online world can have an
adverse influence on children. According to the NSPCC:
Graphic images and scenes can be very disturbing to children and cause a lot of
distress. In 2012 13 ChildLine received 475 calls from young people who d been

NSPCC 2013.
Adult material can cause mental scars in some children, whereas others, after
consuming pornography, now have a twisted view on reality:
Pornography has Influence on attitudes of some children, towards reality. Children

Persuasive Essay On Surveillance
When people think of surveillance, people think that it consists of spies and hidden
cameras. Surveillance, however, consist of a much wider range of practices and
technologies and real surveillance is subtler as presented in the documentary An Eye
on You by Alexandre Valenti. Developments in modern technologies, administrative
practices, commerce, and the governmenthave culminated in surveillancein its various
manifestation becoming organizing practice of late modern society. The film presents
information that support the daily surveillance of citizens by the governments as well
as its opposing view. The legality of the non stop surveillance of innocent people, and
the secretly information collected by the internet companies that passed it to the
business industries that uses this data to promote customized items to be specific for
each customer.
No areas of our own lives escape surveillance anymore, the citizens of the world are
the focus of prying eyes, whether they agree to it or not. The government promotes
the vigilance of its constituents for the sake of public safety through a group of
organization where mass data collection and digital espionage programs, surveillance
is becoming synonymous with personal and national security. To watch without being
seen is the spirit of surveillance, through the use of all electronic devises when they
connect to the internet, and how easy it is for the government and the internet
companies to access all the information
The Battle Of Gettysburg And The American Civil War
Introduction Most modern historians, regardless of political biases, tend to agree that
the Battle of Gettysburg was the turning point in the American Civil War. Some even
go as far to as to call it the high water mark of the Confederate States. What is known
is that it represented the last time a coherent Confederate Army threatened northern
soil. In fact, from Gettysburg forward, the Confederation of Southern States would be
fighting a defensive/fighting retreat. Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles of
the war, but there were many bloody battles during the American Civil War. What
enamors the public and historians alike is that Gettysburg was a rare battle that held
consequences for the winner and loser that went far beyond a sole battle during a
military campaign.
History By the summer of 1863, the Army of the Potomac had not fared well against
Gen. Robert E. Lee s Army of Northern Virginia. In fact, the draw at Chancellorsville
during Lee s first incursion into the north was propped up to be a northern victory,
despite terrible losses of human life. Losses had been heavy on both sides, but
northern forces were taking the brunt of the casualties and public support for
Abraham Lincoln was waning. As democracies usually go, a long, drawn out
conflict is unpopular with voters and this war was no different. A decisive victory
was needed, and needed badly. The situation was not all roses for the Confederacy,
however. The state of Virginia
Emo Culture
In today s society there are many different subculture tendencies amongst young
people, they are various and interpenetrating, but to the bigger part of them is leading
the element music and above all such kind of music, that is with a history of many
years, transformed in classic for many generations. But recently one very different
from the entire subcultures tendencies phenomenon, called emostyle, especially
strongly caused a sensation. It is different not only at the way of clothing, at the type
of music preferences, at the type of behavior, but it is different at the way, it
understands the world and itself. It is one sad subculture to a great degree namely

Also very significant accessory is the ring, piercing the lower lip of the young

The emo tional nature of the subculture youth...
At their nature the emo representatives are extremely sensitive characters. The
psychologists define them as introverts, who don t want to communicate with the
ambient world. Because of that they find a field of manifestation in the poetry. The
poems that they write are dark, dispiriting, depressive and they inspire sadness and
nostalgia. In this respect they to a great degree resemble to the Goths. The life and
the pain are basic topics in the poetry of the young creators. The specialists advise

this way of living of the young people leads to things, for those I ll speak down

How Has The Eucharist Changed Over Time
Rituals are events that provide a sense of acceptance and that are done regularly and
enjoyed by many. Rituals mainly refer to a family, religious or community ceremony,
rituals also express emotions such as love and togetherness. The ritual of the
Eucharist has changed dramatically over the past years from the last supper, where
Jesusshared his body to his disciples.
The Eucharist is for people in modern times to commemorate Jesus life. The earliest
written gospel of the Eucharista meaning thanksgiving in Greek is located in the
First Epistle to the Corinthians around 55 AD in which Paul wrote to the apostles
eating the bread and drinking the cup of the lord by all and celebrating what is

The War On Terror ( Wot )
The War on Terror (WoT), also known as the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT),
refers to the international military campaign that started after the September 11
attacks on the United States.[47]
U.S. President George W. Bush first used the term War on Terror on 20 September
2001.[47] The Bush administration and the western media have since used the term
to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both
organizations designated terrorist and regimes accused of supporting them. It was
originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorism
organizations including al Qaeda and like minded organizations.
In 2013, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was no longer
pursuing a War on Terror, as the military focus should be on specific enemies rather
than a tactic. He stated, We must define our effort not as a boundless Global War on
Terror , but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific
networks of violent extremists that threaten America. [48]
The phrase War on Terror has been used to specifically refer to the ongoing military
campaign led by the U.S., UK and their allies against organizations and regimes
identified by them as terrorist, and excludes other independent counter terrorist
operations and campaigns such as those by Russia and India. The conflict has also

Equivalent Conductance At Infinite Dilution Of Four...
Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to determine the equivalent conductance at
infinite dilution of four electrolytes NaCl, HCl, NaOAc, and AcOH, as well as the
dissociation constant of the weak electrolyte AcOH.
Methods A conductivity meter and a dip type conductance cell were used to measure
the conductance of a standard KCl solution and deionized water. These measurements
are used to determine the cell constant and conductance caused by impurity,
respectively. Then four sets of solutions, three strong electrolytes and one weak
electrolyte, each with six different concentrations, are measured for their
conductance. All measurements were performed at 25 В°C. Finally, the conductance
of three strong electrolytes is used to calculate ... Show more content on

the square root of concentration of HCl did not yield a relatively straight
relationship, as shown by an R2 value of 0.00093. The cause of this abnormality is
unknown. However, since the equivalent conductance values are relatively large
compared to those of other electrolyte, it is expected for the variations to be more
significant. If the y axis is shown from 0 to 450 instead of 360 to 390, then the date
points will seem to have a more linear relationship because they are all very close

Antoine Lavoisier
Antoine Lavoisier (1743 1794) Antoine Laurent Lavoisier (lah vwah ZYAY) was one
of the best known French scientists and was an important government official. His
theories of combustion, his development of a way to classify the elements and the
first modern textbook of chemistry led to his being known as the father of modern
chemistry. He contributed to much of the research in the field of chemistry. He is
quoted for saying, Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.
Lavoisier was born in Paris, France on Aug. 26, 1743. When he was eleven years old
he attended a college called Mazain. For Lavoisier s last two years in college he
found a great deal of interest in science. He received an excellent education and...

With French astronomer and mathematician Pierre Simon Laplace, Lavoisier
conducted experiments on the respiration in animals. Their studies showed a
similarity between ordinary chemical reactions and the processes that happen in
living organisms. These experiments were the basis for the science now known as
biochemistry. Lavoisier also helped to develop a system for naming chemical
substances based on their composition. This system is still in use. He made the very
first modern chemistry text named Trait eacute; el eacute;mentaire de chimie
(Elements of Chemistry). Many consider it the first textbook on modern chemistry.
Here for the first time the elements are laid out systematically. His list included
many compounds, which were thought to be elements at the time. Lavoisier worked
out reactions in chemical equations that respect the conservation of mass. As a
government official, Lavoisier was successful in creating agricultural reform,
serving as a tax collection official, and overseeing the government s manufacture of
gunpowder. On 1775 he was made commissioner of gunpowder. He was asked to
improve the quality of French gunpowder. This boosted his career. Politically,
Lavoisier was a moderate constitutionalist, and Marat and other radicals hated him
because of this. He became involved in the Ferme Generale, a private tax collection
firm, which became a target during the Terror. When the Reign of Terror erupted in
France, Lavoisier
What Is The Blessings Of Disobeying God
b. The Blessings of Obeying and Curses of Disobeying God The life and testimony
of the chosen people of God, in the past, are powerful Bible messages that could
help Christians comprehend what it means to love and obey and to disregard and
disobey God and His commands. In the previous section of this paper, I have
discussed how Abel s faith overcame the curse of sin and death in his life. His
worship defined his unconditional love and obedience to God; As a result, God
blessed and welcomed Abel in His presence. In contrast, Cain demonstrated his
faith so selfishly. Therefore, the Lord did not regard him and his offering.
Furthermore, Cain s evil ways provoked God to drive him away from His presence.
The story of Cain and Abelprofoundly pictures both the blessings of faithful
obedience and the curse of disobedience. Distinctively, worship is fundamental to
people s lives that it should be painstakingly attended. In essence, worship is a
personal relationship with God; it intimately unites believers with God and His love
that exudes life and power within them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Photographs Capture Time And Create Meaning
Photographs capture time and create meaning. Mark Klett s Under the Dark Cloth ,
is a simple, yet compelling piece of art which captures his experience in Monument
Valley, Arizona on May 27th, 1989. The perspective of the photograph is strategic in
allowing the viewers to see from Klett s point of view. This angle places the viewer
in the first person, connecting them directly to the image. Images of landscapes are
often engrossing, Klett s piece does this on two planes.
In the text, Visual Methodologies, author, Gillian Rose uses semiotics as a way to
make sense of an image. She defines semiotics as the study of signs and their use or
interpretation, or, how images make meaning (pg. 75). Under close inspection of

Another question could be looked at through the lens of positional communication .
Who is positioned as superior and who inferior? (pg. 82). The photographer makes
the audience feel as if they are a part of the image, giving the audience a connection to
the subject of the photograph. This allows power within the image to be equally
distributed and shared between human and nature.
The objects within the image, such as the watch, camera, and dark cloth connote time,
preservation, and reflection. Klett s use of signs give his photo the purpose it needs
to remain captivating. Within Klett s photo, icons, indexes, and symbols are all
presented.
The icon most prevalent in the image is the upside down image of Monument
Valley. This iconic image represents that specific rock structure in the valley. This
image is also a synecdochal sign, it is a part of this rocky range, representing the
national park as a whole.
The two indexes that stand out immediately are the camera and the dark cloth.
When you see a camera you immediately think of documentation or memories.
When we think of something under the dark cloth or in a dark space we think of
referees reviewing a play or the process of developing a photograph. When someone
is under the dark cloth, it is a personal, capturing moment. This sign is a moment of
silence and critical reflection.
The symbols which are presented in the photograph include the camera, watch, and
the style of the photograph.
Absolute Power In John Locke s Of Tyranny
This 18th chapter, Of Tyranny , is a summary of the differences between legitimate
and illegitimate power. Civil society exists to protect the property and liberty of its
members if something breaks down anywhere in its government and it no longer
fulfills this function, something has gone crooked and the people have a right to free
themselves of that government. A ruler who exercises legitimate power observes the
laws of the government and understands that the people gave him the power they
possess. This ruler seeks to preserve the public good, honor the trust between
himself and his people, and protect people s property. A ruler who exercises
illegitimate power is called a tyrant; he breaks the bonds of trust and acts outside
the law. His use of privilege may be out of bounds and he uses his will to enforce
the law, not the consent of the people. These differences are not difficult to see.
Locke is profound to answer critics claims that the ability to oppose a tyrant will
lead to frequent and nonsense rebellions. He does not think this way because the
people are assumed to have a level of intelligence and thinking that gives them the
ability to know when their ruler is no longer acting as he should.... Show more content

When posing the question of who is to judge when the executive or legislative acts
contrary to the trust of the people, Locke answers directly that the people must
judge. Locke also clarifies that tyranny does not necessarily exist only in absolute
monarchies but can also exist in democracies and oligarchies. We can see Locke s
most eloquent and urgent plea for governments to be established according to the law
of nature and the consent of the

Here are the top ten songs about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out
America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in
America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The Muffs, off of the 1995
soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of her 1981
self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.)
Lyrics include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling
everywhere / I don t want to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new
wave coming I warn you / we re the kids in America / everybody live for the music
go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply seems to be about how the
kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also mentions a new
wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would
become very prevalent in the music scene. Number Nine: American Woman by The

morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night since the Sunday after I was born. I
was always taught that faith, hope, and love were the three cardinal virtues of my

This is the story of the truest and purest heartbreak I have ever felt: a heartbreak at
the hands of my brother.
At seventeen years old, I felt I was finally becoming the person I wanted to be for
the rest of my life. Naturally, I wanted to share this discovery with the rest of the
world. I conveyed it through my music, my activities, my social media, and any
other way I possibly could. There were those who wished to silence my voice, but I
would not allow myself to be quieted. You see, I had worked too long and too hard
to find myself and there was no way I was going to lose her in the clamor of loud
voices shouting no around me. I did not find this too extraordinarily difficult, as I
began to surround myself with those who would accept and assist me in my
growth. However, this safe haven of peers came crashing down around me when I
got a text message from my brother one evening. Somehow, he had learned of my
political views which were, naturally, drastically different than his. My brother is
my hero. He is a United States Marine, enlisted when he was nineteen years old,
two years ago. He has tirelessly trained to be a good Marine, the best he could be, and
has already been in positions of authority. He is a leader, and a good one. But
sometimes, he forgets who the real enemy is. He forgets that I adore him and look

When people go on a trip to the zoo, it can be assumed that they do not think about
much more than what they can see. Signals that make zoos unfair and sometimes
unbearable for the captive animals are not visible to most spectators. This essay will
explain how zoos are unjust and should not be supported. Animals should not be held
captive due their negative behavioral changes, lack of natural habitat and the zoos
failure to effectively preserve endangered species.
Even though zoos try to imitate the natural habitat of each animal, the area for the zoo
might not be able to support the animals needed environment. When visiting a zoo

When introduced with stress animals act strangely, and their actions are visible to
zoo visitors, but viewers are not aware of why they are doing these things.
According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), when animals
pace from side to side, walk in circles, lick their bars, roll their heads, and rock back
and forth, they are under severe stress. Most captive animals also perform acts of
self mutilation, and eat their own feces. There are even some cases of stillbirths
caused by stressful conditions. Animals who naturally live in large herds should not
be housed alone, and solitary animals should not be kept in groups. These situations
also create unhappiness in captive animals. Zoo animals living under anxiety and
tension also add to the difficulties of conserving species.
Zoos claim to conserve species, but they frequently fall short on this promise. The
zoo industry rationalizes the caging and breeding of animals by claiming that zoos
enhance conservation efforts, but the facts do not back up this claim. According to a
joint report by the World Society for the Protection of Animals and the Born Free
Foundation, with the best will in the world, and even with all their combined
resources, zoos cannot hope to save more than a few of the animal species that are
doomed to become extinct within the next decade (Laws). According to PETA,

Aristotle s Theory Of Falling
My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the
earth is a sphere are not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a
priori and empirical claims based on his theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre
Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding the creation cosmology of Plato s
Timaeus.
Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning
with Thales, The Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all
things (Kirk B13) . The tradition continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and
rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith with Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it
is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on every side, equally balanced in
every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes identify two themes
that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth
maintain its place in the universe and what is its shape.
Aristotle also labored under the imposing shadow of his teacher Plato who
developed his cosmology in the Timaeus, ...he should fashion the world as a single
whole... And he gave it a shape appropriate to the kind of thing it was... Hence he
gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere... (Timaeus 33a b). Plato identifies the
correct shape of the earth but he does not argue for this conclusion. Aristotle will
have to ground this idea in empirical science not myth.
The first step for Aristotle in On the Heavens is
Monogamy Vs Polygamy
Relationships are complicated, especially romantic ones; they involve a wide range
of emotions and expectations that need to be met or the relationship will fail. When it
comes to polygamy there are even more variables added to the equation since there
are additional partners involved in the relationship. Unlike the common belief that
polygamyis where a man has multiple wives, it is actually much more in depth where
both sexes can have other romantic partners. As long as one lets their partner know
who they are seeing the relationship is considered healthy, although there is still the
obvious possibility of jealousy occurring. Honesty is everything in polygamy, even
though individuals are allowed to be romantically involved with others,... Show more

In the United States it is illegal to be in an any of the three forms of polygamy if
one is married. In the early days Mormons were even persecuted if they were found
practicing polygamy. If individuals want to be polyamorous they must do so without
being lawfully wedded to their partners. In a society that is constantly progressing
towards giving people their rights, polygamist still struggle in being viewed as a
legitimate way of life. With the gay rights movement having so much momentum and
finally becoming legal in the United States, polygamist thought the outcome could
soon be the same for them. The one major argument against polygamy is that it is a
choice unlike the predetermination of one s sexual orientation. Critics suggest that
individuals should just be single instead of engaging in a relationship where they are
not faithful to one person. Although it is not certain where the future of polygamy is
headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore
their sexual and emotional identities.
There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes
than their parents which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as
marriages go, people are no longer in such rush to get married, have children, and
start the typical family associated with adulthood. This in part could be because of
high divorce rates that many individuals have experienced either with their parents or
someone they know. Cathy Meyer
Ghost Military Mission Command
Part Three
Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using
mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to
empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP
6 0) What does a commander do when all communications with higher command is
severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate simply because
communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all
communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the
fleet. Lack of orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks.
The breakdown of communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines
how mission orders set the battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue
the mission based on a clear understanding of the commander s intent. In the situation
presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this. When the attack at Pearl
Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when
communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike
the unmoving ships. In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts
immediately. They are the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In general an emerging market is defined as an economy that is steadily progressing
towards reaching the status of an advanced economy. According to the World Bank,
there are 28 major emerging markets to date (The World Bank 2016).
Hence these markets play a pivotal role in influencing the world s economy as it
consists of 82% of the world s population. With 82% of the world s population under
its belt, this market poses an exceptional potential for business development. By
2020, these markets economy is predicted to develop three times faster compared to

Explain Why The Driving Age Should Not Be Raised
The legal driving age should not be raised. The legal age to get a job is sixteen, so
it makes sense to also making the legal driving age the same. Parents should not be
expected to drive their kids to and from work. Some may argue that they could take
public transportation. However, many places, including where I live, do not have
daily buses, trains, etc. Another reason the drivingage should not be raised is that
there are many laws that only affect young drivers that influence them to be
responsible. The most accident prone age is 16, which is due to their lack of
experience. Raising the legal driving age would just make the new minimum age the
most accident prone. Teens need the freedom to drive so they don t have to rely on
their parents.
Alcohol Is A Popular Ingredient
In today s society, alcohol is a popular ingredient in numerous products and

centuries. Alcohol is any organic compound, which the hydroxyl functional group is

that slows down vital functions resulting in slurred speech, unsteady movement,
disturbed perceptions and an inability to react quickly. As for how it affects the mind,
alcoholis best understood as a drug that reduces a person s ability to think rationally

action of nerve cells. Some people should not drink at all, including alcoholics,

sequences and want to give an example each how to calculate with those sequences.
First I want to give a short definition of each sequence.
An arithmetic sequence is a sequence of numbers in which each succeeding term
differs from the preceding term by the same amount. This amount is known as the
common difference. (Bluman, A. G. 2500, page 221)
An example for an arithmetic sequence is:

For a better overview I write everything down again: n = 9 d = $ 25 a1 = $ 100 a9 = ?
I use the following formula to find out a9: an = a1 + (n 1)d
Now we put the numbers we have into the formula: a9 = 100 + (9 1)(25) a9 = 100 +
8(25) a9 = 100 + 200 a9 = 300 a9= $ 300
Now that we have a9 we can we can calculate the costs for a 90 foot tower with the
following formula:
Sn = n(a1 + a n) / 2
S9 = 9(100 + 300) / 2
S9 = 9(400) / 2
S9 = 4.5(400)
S9= 1,800
S9 = $ 1,800
The cost for a 90 foot CB tower will be $ 1,800.
This exercise involves an arithmetic sequence because the cost of the labor for each
succeeding 10 feet is $25 more than the preceding 10 feet. The first 10 feet the cost of
the labor is $ 100. The next 10 feet are $ 25 more and the next 10 feet $ 25 more and
so on.
10 feet = $ 100; 20 feet = $ 125; 30 feet = $ 150; 40 feet = $ 175; ...

at the fact that the U.S. decided to become involved in the Vietnam War. A large

Emphasizing The True Meaning Of Poems By Andrew

Emphasizing the True Meaning of Poems Around the seventeenth century the poets
Andrew Marvell and John Donne expressed their feelings through poetry. Both John
Donne, born in 1572 and Andrew Marvell, born in 1621 in England, are known for
their ideas of metaphysical poetry. Metaphysical poetry is a persuasive poem that
uses a conceit. It focuses on imagery, paradoxes, arguments, philosophy and religion.
Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and John Donne s A Valediction: Forbidding
Mourning, focus on the theme of love, which was trending at that time. Although
both poems justify the importance and essence of love, the tone differs in each poem
making them distant from each other. The figurative language also makes the two
poems different. However, they both focus on the idea of Carpe Diem, enjoying the
moment and not worrying about the future. Through comparing these poems, the
differences and similarities result in the true understanding and effectiveness of the
poems. In To His Coy Mistress, Andrew Marvell does not perceive true, fervent love,
but rather that time and beauty will not last. The tone of this poem is sad, but the
author seems to make it happier. There is an example shown in the first stanza;
Had we but world enough and time...we would sit down, and think which way to

Why Dennis Fitch Failed
Have you ever been in a life threatening accident? On July 19, 1989, a DC 10
United Flight jet crash landed in Sioux City, Iowa after the number two engine in
the tail exploded (Flight 232, 8). The engine failure led to the loss of all
hydraulics, which led to the loss of the controls. Fortunately, one of the passengers
on the jet was Dennis Fitch, a United training and check pilot (AirDisaster.com, 2).
He helped the pilots try to control the jet by using the throttles (Jet Carrying..., 2).
The plane was flying from Denver, Colorado to Chicago, Illinois, but they made an
emergency landing in Sioux City, where they tried to land at speeds of over 230
miles per hour, which was twice the speed of a regular approach (30 Minutes That...,

The flight attendants were in charge over the passengers in the cabin. There were
more than thirty kids on the jet because it was Children s Day, and most of them
didn t have their parents along. The flight attendants had told some adults to sit
next to the kids to help them through the crash landing so they wouldn t feel as
frightened as they would have if they were sitting by themselves (The crash Of...,
19). The flight attendants also chose people to sit next to the emergency exits, and
nobody hesitated to do what the flight attendants had requested. After the crash
landing, many passengers helped others get out of the jet. Some people where
stuck in their seats or in tight spaces. Everybody worked together to get as many
people out of the burning jet as fast they could (The Crash Of..., 19). Many people
from the National Guard were there because it was one of the days of the month
that they were on duty in Sioux City. They helped clear debris and find people who
were lost in the corn fields surrounding the runway, along with many other things
(The Crash Of..., 7). Many Siouxlanders who had heard about the crash landing
came to the airport and hospitals in the area to see if they could help out in some
way. They brought food and water, clean clothes, blankets, and many other
necessities for the people who came off the jet. Some people asked the passengers

The Vibration Of Pressure, Vibration, And Stretching Essay
The sensations of pressure, vibration, and stretching are each caused by multiple
different forms of mechanical energy: pressure is caused by direct contact with the
body from an object or substance; vibration is caused by movement of an object
being transferred to the body; and stretching is when two parts of the affected area
are moved apart (Vallbo Johansson, 1984). Similar to the way that temperature is
sensed, there are specific neuro receptors designed to transduce the energy from these
stimuli into electrochemical signals; however, there are also specific types of
receptors designed to sensedifferent levels of stimulus (Vallbo Johansson, 1984). For
example: for pressure, there are different receptors for heavy or harsh contact, for
light or gentle contact, and receptors for sensitive contact. There are even special
pressure receptors attached to every single hair in the dermis (Lumpkin, Marshall,
Nelson, 2010). These receptors delineate another way that the body integrates
different signals. By containing separate receptors for each stimulus and each level
of stimulation, the body does some of the processing before the electrochemical
signal ever reaches the brain.
Pain is a sensation that most people are unfortunately all too well acquainted with.
Just like sensing heat, cold, or pressure there are specific receptors geared towards
detecting pain (Adrian, 1926). The definition of pain is: physical suffering typically
from injury or illness. (Costello, 1992,
Research Paper On Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth is located in Saginaw County, Michigan. It is actually located within a
township of the same name, but it is politically independent and self sustained.
Frankenmuth is one of the largest tourist attractions in Michigan simply because of
all the things a person can do there. It has shops, historical significance and much
more. The name Frankenmuth is derived from Franken, which refers to the Province
of Franconia and muth refers to courage, which collectively means the courage of the
Franconians. Frankenmuth is also considered a sister city of Gunzenhausen, Bavaria.
Frankenmuth was founded on the basis of Christianity. A German Lutheran

It is basically the traditional Bavarian cuisine. Most of the famous restaurants there
are family style meals. The most famous of all these restaurants is Zehnder s. It is
the oldest restaurant in Frankenmuth. The hotel was opened in 1929 after William
and Emilie Zehnder were in financial trouble. They had to sell their 80 acre farm
and take a loan to buy the hotel they wanted to buy. Then they redesigned it to look
like George Washington s house. They soon turned into a huge success and now
they even have a waterpark, rooms for staying et cetera. And their most popular
dish was obviously the chicken family dinner. Frankenmuth is also home to one of
the most famous Christmas stores, Bronner s Christmas Wonderland. It was
founded in 1945 and since then has grown into the largest Christmas store in the
world. It covers 27 acres of land and has about everything that is related to
Christmas, but the store only covers 7.35 acres of land. It was designed with
Alpine architecture in mind and two 17 foot Santas and a 15 foot snowman greets
visitors everyday. The store was founded by Wally Bronner. He died in a few years

Nietzsche Outline
Sangita Bashyal Prof Outline Philosophy 101 3 December 2017 Friedrich
Nietzsche Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche is a German philosopher. He was a
nineteen century s philosopher and he challenged the Christianity and morality.
He was born in the town of Rochen, near Leipzig on October 15, 1844. He was the
son and grandson of a minister. When he was four years old his father passed away
and after six months later, his younger brother suddenly passed away. After that
incident Nietzsche, his sister and mother moved to the place where his two aunts
were living. He was an intelligent student and his teachers were inspired by his
work at school. In fact, his teacher Friedrich Wilhelm Ritschl wrote a letter in his
reference the Nietzsche was so promising that He will simply be able to do
anything he wants to do . (R.Lanier Anderson, Nietzsche s Life and works). In
1970, he volunteered as a nurse s assistant (Nietzsche vii). He was a philosopher,
poet psychologist. However, he did not develop a theory of history (Carl E.
Pletsch). Pletsch also said in his article, he was one of the most complex thinkers.
He had given his effort in philosophy lecture, in psychology and in his education,
such as history. He was one of the most powerful thinkers in the world. He started
illness from his early period of time. He was enthusiastic on his health problems since
his childhood. He tried to find explanations for those health problems and described
them exhaustively. Nietzsche His poor
JP Morg 13bn Misconduct Settlement
Case: JP Morgan $13bn Misconduct settlement In November 2013, JPMorgan was
involved in a law suit scandal with the department of justice and agreed on a $13bn
civil settlement for assuming responsibility of toxic mortgage lending practices.
The scandal evolved when banks exploited mortgage securitization and packaged
Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) and Residential Mortgage Backed Securities
(RMBS) in an unfair manner, and were sold off to investors around the world who
were manipulated to think they were investing in not the best of quality credit risk
loan, but really they were investing in subprime loans that were essentially
worthless. As a result, investors lost billions of U.S dollars; due to the widespread
effects other loan markets were affected which led to a loss in investor confidence in
the United States financial markets; the United States housing crisis meltdown and
ultimately the 2008 financial crisis (BARRETT, D. AND FITZPATRICK, D. 2013).
JP Morgan got involved in the crisis by the acquisition of two banks in 2008 that were
carrying out such practises. Bear Stearns and Washington mutual; by acquiring them,
they acquired their problems. At the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is no surprise that an individual with a narcissistic behaviour and character in
office, takes little consideration of ethical decision making in his company s
operations, the decisions he made about the company led it into bankruptcy, which
resulted in its buyout by JP Morgan. This later got them into this scandal as they had
to assume responsibility and take on all of Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual s
outstanding legal exposure, in addition to them also being alleged to some of the
misdeeds on its own. Hence, Washington Mutual, Bear Stearns, and pre 2008
JPMorgan itself were negligent in their practices (IRWIN N,
Essay on RETIREMENT
Retirement, Are You Saving Enough?
As and investor, you are overwhelmed with advice in newspapers, magazines, and
mailings discussing what to invest in for a successful retirement nest egg, when to
start saving for retirement and who to invest with. There are millions of people who
realize that an investment portfolio for retirement is necessary, but do they really
understand the investment instruments and the amount they must invest for
tomorrow? The subject of retirement is a fascinating area but it also could be a fuzzy
subject without the correct amount of knowledge, understanding and professional
guidance. The number one question of concern for individuals facing retirement
issues is whether or not they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trick to retirement is making the savings and investment part of that formula
last as long as you do. Traditionally, experts have advised you to invest your savings
in stocks and bonds, with the ratio of stocks to bonds gradually decreasing as you
get older. The rule of thumb was to have 65% of your investment dollars in bonds by
your 65th birthday. (aol.sageonline.com) This rule of thumb has changed recently in
order to take into account the increase in life expectancy. Now that your retirement
money has to last longer, the experts are beginning to lean toward investing more of
your money in the stock market and keeping it there further into retirement than you
normally would. The most important notion that retirees must learn is that the longer
you can go without dipping into your principal, the longer your money will last for
you due to the rule of compounding of interest. There are numerous different
techniques for people to use in order to retire comfortably and remain comfortable
until their deaths. Since deciding how much money you need for retirement is
obviously a highly personal calculation, individuals must explore the many different
instruments for retirement. So how should people invest today for the future and
their retirement?
The most crucial retirement investing advice anyone can give is really quite simple:
Start early, max out your 401(k), and
How A Fetus Changes Into A Baby
In this chapter it talks about the development of how a fetus changes into a baby.
The first part of the chapter starts out by talking about how the zygote divides into
the two cells. With another 36 hours the zygote becomes 32 cells. This time period
of conception is call germinal stage. In the first few days in the germinal stage the
cell mass takes the form of a fluid filled ball called a blastocyst. The dividing cells
cell moves through the fallopian tube, then they go throw to the uterus. This chapter
also talks about how although humans are not chickens their babies are formed in
the same way. Like in a chickens egg the yoke develops into a baby chicken, and in a
human the embryobecomes a fetus. Then the chapter starts to talk about the different
things bleeding while being pregnant can mean. Although a majority of people
believe that if a woman bleeds while pregnant mans that she has had a miscarriage,
it can mean many of different things. Miscarriages can be caused by many different
things, and can cause many different types of problems. Such as a high risk of
having anxiety and it also puts relationships at a higher percentage of ending. One
third of percent end in a miscarriage. Miscarriages happed within the first three
months of pregnancy. Woman who are over the age of thirty are more likely to have a
miscarriage. Miscarriages can be cause from many things such as chromosomal
problems, substance use, or hormonal problems. The next thing that this chapter
Patient Autonomy, Patient Safety And Risk
Patient autonomy, patient safety and risk are the main key issues which have
arose from the scenario of Ward 6 regarding patient, Mrs Green. These issues have
been chosen to be addressed as it is important that the patients in your care have the
choice and are always safe and not at risk, to do this The Institute of Medicine
(2010) says nurses and other health professionals should work together to ensure a
safe delivery of quality care (cited in Kim et al. 2015 p.2491).
Patient autonomy, safety and risk are all important yet the decisions made from the
student nurse on Ward 6 will be responsible and accountable, however as the student
nurse will be mentored they will not have the accountability which a registered nurse
does as to be accountable; practitioners must: have the ability to perform the activity
or intervention, accept responsibility for doing the activity and have the authority to
perform the activity through delegation and the policies and protocols of the
organisation (Royal College of Nursing 2016). The student nurses will be responsible
for communication with their senior and make sure they seek advice beforehand.
Responsibility is mentioned within accountability yet is different as Dohmann (2009)
claims that nurses individually have the responsibility to make sure that actions they
carry out or delegate to must be done appropriately and they are then accountable for
the results from the actions that were taken.

Hillcoat s Crocodile
In Crocodile, Hillcoat incorporates a scene where an insurance agent uses a
database of facial recognition to locate where a person lives. In this paper, I am
going to claim that technology has its own downward spirals. In the episode
Crocodile from the anthology series, Black Mirror, it is seen how an insurance
agent by the name of Shazia interviews several people by using a device that
enables her to access their memories to see if a claim will pay out after a man was
hit by an automated pizza truck. The thing that concerns me is that throughout the
episode there is a scene that intrigued me very much. In a scene, it is seen how
Shazia uses the faces recorded of the people she interviewed from their memory
through a database and can quickly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be a responsible technological professional is not quite simple. Certainly not to
me, because technology is in our everyday use, whether it is through the
prevention of cyberbullying, not committing plagiarism, exploring safe sites for
research, or simply just for taking a picture. Every action that we decide to make
leaves a trail of information that could be either stored or recorded for future use.
For example, a list of all the web addresses that you visited along with the details of
each search you initiated online and many other examples that can be thought of.
Facial recognition as we know it can be the next big technological innovation, but
it does not mean that everything that comes out of it is good and beneficial to
society. We see as Shazia uses facial recognition to find the person she is trying to
reach behind her work because it is permitted for her to do so, but what about in
the outside world, where the is no monitoring of who decides to use that tool? Not
only would this invade a person s privacy, but it would be completely unethical to
not ask for a person s permission before this action is to be
A Short Note On Anxiety Disorder And Anxiety Disorders
Essay
Anxiety
Case Study
Wendy is a 32 year old woman who has presented at her general practitioner with a
six month history of disturbed sleep, fatigue, restlessness and difficulty
concentrating. On assessment, she reports that these symptoms have become worse
since she was promoted at work. Wendy is in a senior position at work and now
finds herself worrying constantly about work. She is also more irritable than usual
and this is impacting on her relationship with her husband and she is now worried
that he might leave her. She has been diagnosed with Generalised AnxietyDisorder
(GAD).
A Discuss the aetiology of anxiety disorders, and identify some specific risk factors
which may have predisposed Wendy to developing GAD. (300 words)
Anxiety itself is a normal human emotion, experienced regularly and on a lesser scale
than those suffering from GAD disorder. Although nothing is known of Wendy s
genetics or youth, it is thought that traumatic experiences, over protective parents,
stress, biological predisposition, personality characteristics, psychodynamic factors
and interpersonal and behavioural dynamics (Elder, Evans, Nizette, 2013, p. 320) all
play a part in the development of GAD. Though none have been significantly
identified as definitive GAD risk factors.
The age old debate of nature verses nurture is at the forefront of anxiety causation
discussion.
Genetically, it is been concluded that the risk of developing GAD increases,

Iraq s Capital And Its Impact On The World
Introduction The foundation of a people s economy, politics, and security lies in its
knowledge. There is no more lasting way to transfer such knowledge than through a
book. With a vision of securing the future of Muslims, ancient Arabic Islamic
civilization worked hard to build public libraries where every son and daughter of
Allah could learn from the past and build the future. Perhaps, no city has played a
more major role in this pursuit than Baghdad. Baghdad, through the ages, has fueled
the development of the arts and the sciences. The reputation of Iraqs capital was
synonymous to learning in the ancient world. Its academic influence spread to
different countries, cultures, and dialects. Baghdad is also a reflection of the
challenges that Muslims faced in their goal to preserve knowledge. Just like the
famed city, other Islamic cities and states have lost many libraries due to conflicts
and wars. It is estimated that throughout history, the Muslim world lost nearly eight
million books and great libraries, like the Cortoba libraryin Iberia and Dar Al Elm
library in Egypt. To better appreciate the Islamic civilization s contribution to
knowledge and to understand the issues that hinder us from developing our
academic sources, this essay will discuss the rise and fall of one of the world s
greatest libraries, Bait Al Hikmah, more commonly known as, The House of Wisdom.

He emphasises his experience of silent suffering, because of his crooked back but
also because of the racism he is subjected to because he is black. It is his enforced
segregation from the other workers, which causes his insecurity. Look at how
Steinbeck s description of the setting gives us an insight into Crooks s character
(p.98,99) as well as his use of language, he had thin, pain tightened lips . He is a
victim of oppressive violence and prejudice and has learned to cope with it by
withdrawing into himself. He is proud and aloof as a defence against the cruel
treatment he receives from the other men because he is black. In this chapter,
Lennie acts as a catalyst. It is through him that Crooks and Curley s wife reveal
their insecurities. In spite of Crooks experience which has taught him that nobody
never gets to heaven , he too gets caught up in Lennie s dream of owning land and
having a future, but Curley s wife s cruelty in reminding him of her racial
superiority, Well, you keep your place then, Nigger. (p.113) when he asks her to
leave, leaves him feeling humiliated. He realises that in this world of white
supremacy, there will never be any security for him. He will never escape from his
life of suffering, What she says is true. Curley s wife is never named in the novel.
She is perceived as Curley s possession, referred to as Curley s wife. Her husband
married her because she is purty and naively she

The factory owner has done nothing to earn the money and the $5 per hour he receives is surplus value , representing exploitation of the worker. Even the tools which the factory owner provided were, according to Marx, necessarily produced by other workers (Wollstein). According to the labor theory of value, all profits are the rightful earnings of the workers, and when they are kept from the workers by capitalists, workers are simply being robbed. Marx called for the elimination of profits, for workers to seize factories and for the overthrow of the tyranny of capitalism. Basically out of the worker labor, the companies make far more than what they paid the workers, while the companies get richer and richer while the workers remain poor (Mandel). There are some flaws to the labor theory of value. For example, most workers prefer to be paid when their work is completed rather than when their products are sold which may be months later. For workers to be paid now, rather than later, someone must advance their wages, and clearly this service has a value. But proponents of the labor theory would have it both ways: workers are to receive the full future value of their product now. The final theoretical failure of the labor theory of value is the value effort fallacy. It is folly to assume that all effort produces value. Every day each of us wastes time on fruitless efforts. To equate labor with the

Edward, in reality, is actually age 104 to 105 and Bella is only 17 to 18, which shows the fact that Edward is basically a pedophile because he is a heck of a lot older than Bella. This is true, Edward is 97 times older than Bella, but isn t he a Vampire and actually still in his 17 year old human aged body. Even though Edward is older than Bella by many decades, according to John Galsworthy Love has no age, no limit, and no death (qtd. in BrainyQuote), therefore age in this sense does not matter because Edward has eternal love for Bella. Overall, this ends and alters the negative views of the fairy tale escape. • 9. Susan Minot Summary LUST. Having read the story written by Susan Minot we come across a rather complicated character, to be precise the narrator herself. The girl in the story has been studying in the boarding school. It is the educational establishment of close type, so the process of growing proceeds differently. For example if we compare the girls from public schools and the girls from boarding schools the latest will be more dissolute. The main reason for this is the closed social environment which fluencies the young girls minds. So let us look closer at the narrator she was ...good at such things like math or painting or even sports, but the second a boy put his arm around her, she forgot about wanting to do anything else... This phrase indicates the author s real attitude towards men and studying. She loved being in relationships with young boys. Moreover, while being in the boarding school she had at least 5 or 6 partners. At the same time the narrator stresses that: Lots of boys, but never two at the same time. One was plenty to keep you in a state. So for her a man is a tool, which can keep her in shape. To our way of thinking it is a rather thoughtless attitude towards the relationship. Furthermore, from the conversation with the headmistress Mrs. Gunther it becomes obvious that the narrator is astonished having known that she has had only the one man for her life. But to be honest the headmistress has her own understanding of the relations between the man and the woman, and it is

Even Esteban Trueba s immediate family senses the problems that the poor face. [Clara] now took Blanca with her on her visits to the poor, weighed down with gifts and comfort. This is to assuage our conscience, darling, she would explain to Blanca. But it doesn t help the poor. They don t need charity, they need justice (136). The incessant struggle that the lower class faced when the wealthy controlled everything forced them to begin a revolution so that they can finally take control of their own lives instead of living to please the wealthy. Throughout the novel, the wealthy controlled every part of the country s government and therefore, they controlled the country as a whole until the day that Esteban Trueba lost the election and the socialist party came to power. This is when the poor finally ceased to be dominated by the wealthy. They lit torches, and the jumble of voices and dancing in the streets became a disciplined,

Some people may wish to access adult content, whilst denying their children access to it. Without the knowledge of self web regulation, they would not be able to access adult content, without the risk of exposing their children to it. Some even go as far to as to call it the high water mark of the Confederate States. What is known is that it represented the last time a coherent Confederate Army threatened northern soil. In fact, from Gettysburg forward, the Confederation of Southern States would be fighting a defensive/fighting retreat. Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles of the war, but there were many bloody battles during the American Civil War. What enamors the public and historians alike is that Gettysburg was a rare battle that held consequences for the winner and loser that went far beyond a sole battle during a military campaign. History By the summer of 1863, the Army of the Potomac had not fared well against Gen. Robert E. Lee s Army of Northern Virginia. In fact, the draw at Chancellorsville during Lee s first incursion into the north was propped up to be a northern victory, despite terrible losses of human life. Losses had been heavy on both sides, but northern forces were taking the brunt of the casualties and public support for Abraham Lincoln was waning. As democracies usually go, a long, drawn out conflict is unpopular with voters and this war was no different. A decisive victory was needed, and needed badly. The War On Terror ( Wot ) The War on Terror (WoT), also known as the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), refers to the international military campaign that started after the September 11 attacks on the United States.[47] U.S. President George W. Bush first used the term War on Terror on 20 September 2001.[47] The Bush administration and the western media have since used the term to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both organizations designated terrorist and regimes accused of supporting them. It was originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorism organizations including al Qaeda and like minded organizations. In 2013, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was no longer pursuing a War on Terror, as the military focus should be on specific enemies rather than a tactic. He stated, We must define our effort not as a boundless Global War on Terror , but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific networks of violent extremists that threaten America. • 22. Antoine Lavoisier Antoine Lavoisier (1743 1794) Antoine Laurent Lavoisier (lah vwah ZYAY) was one of the best known French scientists and was an important government official. His theories of combustion, his development of a way to classify the elements and the first modern textbook of chemistry led to his being known as the father of modern chemistry. He contributed to much of the research in the field of chemistry. He is quoted for saying, Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed. Lavoisier was born in Paris, France on Aug. 26, 1743. When he was eleven years old he attended a college called Mazain. For Lavoisier s last two years in college he found a great deal of interest in science. He received an excellent education and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With French astronomer and mathematician Pierre Simon Laplace, Lavoisier conducted experiments on the respiration in animals. Their studies showed a similarity between ordinary chemical reactions and the processes that happen in living organisms. These experiments were the basis for the science now known as biochemistry. Lavoisier also helped to develop a system for naming chemical substances based on their composition. This system is still in use. He made the very first modern chemistry text named Trait eacute; el eacute;mentaire de chimie (Elements of Chemistry). Many consider it the first textbook on modern chemistry. Here for the first time the elements are laid out systematically. His list included many compounds, which were thought to be elements at the time. Lavoisier worked out reactions in chemical equations that respect the conservation of mass. As a government official, Lavoisier was successful in creating agricultural reform, serving as a tax collection official, and overseeing the government s manufacture of gunpowder. On 1775 he was made commissioner of gunpowder. He was asked to improve the quality of French gunpowder. This boosted his career. Politically, Lavoisier was a moderate constitutionalist, and Marat and other radicals hated him because of this. He became involved in the Ferme Generale, a private tax collection firm, which became a target during the Terror. When the Reign of Terror erupted in France, Lavoisier

The Blessings of Obeying and Curses of Disobeying God The life and testimony of the chosen people of God, in the past, are powerful Bible messages that could help Christians comprehend what it means to love and obey and to disregard and disobey God and His commands. In the previous section of this paper, I have discussed how Abel s faith overcame the curse of sin and death in his life. His worship defined his unconditional love and obedience to God; As a result, God blessed and welcomed Abel in His presence. In contrast, Cain demonstrated his faith so selfishly. Therefore, the Lord did not regard him and his offering. Furthermore, Cain s evil ways provoked God to drive him away from His presence. The story of Cain and Abelprofoundly pictures both the blessings of faithful obedience and the curse of disobedience. Mark Klett s Under the Dark Cloth , is a simple, yet compelling piece of art which captures his experience in Monument Valley, Arizona on May 27th, 1989. The perspective of the photograph is strategic in allowing the viewers to see from Klett s point of view. This angle places the viewer in the first person, connecting them directly to the image. Images of landscapes are often engrossing, Klett s piece does this on two planes. In the text, Visual Methodologies, author, Gillian Rose uses semiotics as a way to make sense of an image. The photographer makes the audience feel as if they are a part of the image, giving the audience a connection to the subject of the photograph. This allows power within the image to be equally distributed and shared between human and nature. The objects within the image, such as the watch, camera, and dark cloth connote time, preservation, and reflection. Klett s use of signs give his photo the purpose it needs to remain captivating. Within Klett s photo, icons, indexes, and symbols are all presented. The icon most prevalent in the image is the upside down image of Monument Valley. This iconic image represents that specific rock structure in the valley. This image is also a synecdochal sign, it is a part of this rocky range, representing the national park as a whole. The two indexes that stand out immediately are the camera and the dark cloth. When you see a camera you immediately think of documentation or memories. When we think of something under the dark cloth or in a dark space we think of referees reviewing a play or the process of developing a photograph. When someone is under the dark cloth, it is a personal, capturing moment. This sign is a moment of silence and critical reflection. The symbols which are presented in the photograph include the camera, watch, and the style of the photograph.
  • 25. Absolute Power In John Locke s Of Tyranny This 18th chapter, Of Tyranny , is a summary of the differences between legitimate and illegitimate power. Civil society exists to protect the property and liberty of its members if something breaks down anywhere in its government and it no longer fulfills this function, something has gone crooked and the people have a right to free themselves of that government. A ruler who exercises legitimate power observes the laws of the government and understands that the people gave him the power they possess. This ruler seeks to preserve the public good, honor the trust between himself and his people, and protect people s property. A ruler who exercises illegitimate power is called a tyrant; he breaks the bonds of trust and acts outside the law. His use of privilege may be out of bounds and he uses his will to enforce the law, not the consent of the people. These differences are not difficult to see. Locke is profound to answer critics claims that the ability to oppose a tyrant will lead to frequent and nonsense rebellions. He does not think this way because the people are assumed to have a level of intelligence and thinking that gives them the ability to know when their ruler is no longer acting as he should.... Here are the top ten songs about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The Muffs, off of the 1995 soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) Lyrics include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling everywhere / I don t want to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new wave coming I warn you / we re the kids in America / everybody live for the music go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would become very prevalent in the music scene. I conveyed it through my music, my activities, my social media, and any other way I possibly could. There were those who wished to silence my voice, but I would not allow myself to be quieted. Most captive animals also perform acts of self mutilation, and eat their own feces. There are even some cases of stillbirths caused by stressful conditions. Animals who naturally live in large herds should not be housed alone, and solitary animals should not be kept in groups. These situations also create unhappiness in captive animals. Zoo animals living under anxiety and tension also add to the difficulties of conserving species. Zoos claim to conserve species, but they frequently fall short on this promise. • 29. Aristotle s Theory Of Falling My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the earth is a sphere are not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a priori and empirical claims based on his theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding the creation cosmology of Plato s Timaeus. Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning with Thales, The Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all things (Kirk B13) . The tradition continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith with Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on every side, equally balanced in every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes identify two themes that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth maintain its place in the universe and what is its shape. Aristotle also labored under the imposing shadow of his teacher Plato who developed his cosmology in the Timaeus, ...he should fashion the world as a single whole... And he gave it a shape appropriate to the kind of thing it was... Hence he gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere... (Timaeus 33a b). Plato identifies the correct shape of the earth but he does not argue for this conclusion. Aristotle will have to ground this idea in empirical science not myth. In a society that is constantly progressing towards giving people their rights, polygamist still struggle in being viewed as a legitimate way of life. With the gay rights movement having so much momentum and finally becoming legal in the United States, polygamist thought the outcome could soon be the same for them. The one major argument against polygamy is that it is a choice unlike the predetermination of one s sexual orientation. Critics suggest that individuals should just be single instead of engaging in a relationship where they are not faithful to one person. Although it is not certain where the future of polygamy is headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore their sexual and emotional identities. There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes than their parents which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as marriages go, people are no longer in such rush to get married, have children, and start the typical family associated with adulthood. This in part could be because of high divorce rates that many individuals have experienced either with their parents or someone they know. Cathy Meyer

However, many places, including where I live, do not have daily buses, trains, etc. Another reason the drivingage should not be raised is that there are many laws that only affect young drivers that influence them to be responsible. The most accident prone age is 16, which is due to their lack of experience. Raising the legal driving age would just make the new minimum age the most accident prone. • 39. Emphasizing The True Meaning Of Poems By Andrew Marvell... Kinsey Jordan Mrs. Russler English Honors I February 4, 2015 Emphasizing the True Meaning of Poems Around the seventeenth century the poets Andrew Marvell and John Donne expressed their feelings through poetry. Both John Donne, born in 1572 and Andrew Marvell, born in 1621 in England, are known for their ideas of metaphysical poetry. Metaphysical poetry is a persuasive poem that uses a conceit. It focuses on imagery, paradoxes, arguments, philosophy and religion. Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and John Donne s A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning, focus on the theme of love, which was trending at that time. Although both poems justify the importance and essence of love, the tone differs in each poem making them distant from each other. The figurative language also makes the two poems different. However, they both focus on the idea of Carpe Diem, enjoying the moment and not worrying about the future. Through comparing these poems, the differences and similarities result in the true understanding and effectiveness of the poems. In To His Coy Mistress, Andrew Marvell does not perceive true, fervent love, but rather that time and beauty will not last. The tone of this poem is sad, but the author seems to make it happier. There is an example shown in the first stanza; Had we but world enough and time...we would sit down, and think which way to walk, and pass our long love s day. • 41. The Vibration Of Pressure, Vibration, And Stretching Essay The sensations of pressure, vibration, and stretching are each caused by multiple different forms of mechanical energy: pressure is caused by direct contact with the body from an object or substance; vibration is caused by movement of an object being transferred to the body; and stretching is when two parts of the affected area are moved apart (Vallbo Johansson, 1984). Similar to the way that temperature is sensed, there are specific neuro receptors designed to transduce the energy from these stimuli into electrochemical signals; however, there are also specific types of receptors designed to sensedifferent levels of stimulus (Vallbo Johansson, 1984). For example: for pressure, there are different receptors for heavy or harsh contact, for light or gentle contact, and receptors for sensitive contact. There are even special pressure receptors attached to every single hair in the dermis (Lumpkin, Marshall, Nelson, 2010). These receptors delineate another way that the body integrates different signals. By containing separate receptors for each stimulus and each level of stimulation, the body does some of the processing before the electrochemical signal ever reaches the brain. Pain is a sensation that most people are unfortunately all too well acquainted with. Just like sensing heat, cold, or pressure there are specific receptors geared towards detecting pain (Adrian, 1926). The definition of pain is: physical suffering typically from injury or illness. • 47. Patient Autonomy, Patient Safety And Risk Patient autonomy, patient safety and risk are the main key issues which have arose from the scenario of Ward 6 regarding patient, Mrs Green. These issues have been chosen to be addressed as it is important that the patients in your care have the choice and are always safe and not at risk, to do this The Institute of Medicine (2010) says nurses and other health professionals should work together to ensure a safe delivery of quality care (cited in Kim et al. 2015 p.2491). Patient autonomy, safety and risk are all important yet the decisions made from the student nurse on Ward 6 will be responsible and accountable, however as the student nurse will be mentored they will not have the accountability which a registered nurse does as to be accountable; practitioners must: have the ability to perform the activity or intervention, accept responsibility for doing the activity and have the authority to perform the activity through delegation and the policies and protocols of the organisation (Royal College of Nursing 2016). The student nurses will be responsible for communication with their senior and make sure they seek advice beforehand. Responsibility is mentioned within accountability yet is different as Dohmann (2009) claims that nurses individually have the responsibility to make sure that actions they carry out or delegate to must be done appropriately and they are then accountable for the results from the actions that were taken. 240 The Royal College of Nursing (2016)

In this paper, I am going to claim that technology has its own downward spirals. In the episode Crocodile from the anthology series, Black Mirror, it is seen how an insurance agent by the name of Shazia interviews several people by using a device that enables her to access their memories to see if a claim will pay out after a man was hit by an automated pizza truck. To be a responsible technological professional is not quite simple. Certainly not to me, because technology is in our everyday use, whether it is through the prevention of cyberbullying, not committing plagiarism, exploring safe sites for research, or simply just for taking a picture. Every action that we decide to make leaves a trail of information that could be either stored or recorded for future use. For example, a list of all the web addresses that you visited along with the details of each search you initiated online and many other examples that can be thought of. Facial recognition as we know it can be the next big technological innovation, but it does not mean that everything that comes out of it is good and beneficial to society. We see as Shazia uses facial recognition to find the person she is trying to reach behind her work because it is permitted for her to do so, but what about in the outside world, where the is no monitoring of who decides to use that tool? Not only would this invade a person s privacy, but it would be completely unethical to not ask for a person s permission before this action is to be

  • 50. Iraq s Capital And Its Impact On The World Introduction The foundation of a people s economy, politics, and security lies in its knowledge. There is no more lasting way to transfer such knowledge than through a book. With a vision of securing the future of Muslims, ancient Arabic Islamic civilization worked hard to build public libraries where every son and daughter of Allah could learn from the past and build the future. Perhaps, no city has played a more major role in this pursuit than Baghdad. Baghdad, through the ages, has fueled the development of the arts and the sciences. The reputation of Iraqs capital was synonymous to learning in the ancient world. Its academic influence spread to different countries, cultures, and dialects. Baghdad is also a reflection of the challenges that Muslims faced in their goal to preserve knowledge. Just like the famed city, other Islamic cities and states have lost many libraries due to conflicts and wars. It is estimated that throughout history, the Muslim world lost nearly eight million books and great libraries, like the Cortoba libraryin Iberia and Dar Al Elm library in Egypt. To better appreciate the Islamic civilization s contribution to knowledge and to understand the issues that hinder us from developing our academic sources, this essay will discuss the rise and fall of one of the world s greatest libraries, Bait Al Hikmah, more commonly known as, The House of Wisdom.
