Environmental Effects Of Tapped
The movie documentary Tapped has opened not only mine, but a group of society s
eyes to what harm we are actually causing upon on ourselves with an action so little
as to drinking out of plastics bottles. People have been drinking out of bottle waters
assuming that what the are drinking out of is safe but once over thousands of plastic
bottles were tested huge concerns grew. Studies show that varieties of bacteria and
chemicals were found, causing cancerand other illnesses. One of the many harmful
chemicals found in these plastic bottles is Styrene which causes a cancer causing
agent and also could possibly cause adverse reproductive effects. Investigators also
found three different types phthalate, Diethyl phthalate, Dioctyl phthalate that
Personal Branding
Personal Branding is already conflicting with Company Branding outside the work
place. A middle school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about
her students on Face Book (Norwalk, 2010). A woman was fired after criticizing
her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook, 2011). A young man was rejected for a
position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the fat paycheck against
the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Entire sites have
been dedicated to helping employees build their personal brands without conflicting
with their company brand(Schawbel, 2009).

management as their private and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments
will overlook small statements against organizations because in the future most
everyone will have at least made one mistake (2010).
Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily
on the individual company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new
business and functional level strategies. For example they will have to establish
functional level policy s to allow employees to communicate personal brands in a
business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to implement company
level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle management
will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These
strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands
and talent in their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both
internal factors (the mission statement and culture of the company) and external
factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities, threats, and environment).
Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of
resiliency in order to compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have
to take on a work life that is never ending, with more responsibilities. In implementing
Christmas Carol Movie Vs Book
The book and movie titled A Christmas Carol have many similarities. They also have
many differences. The main story takes place during Christmas time in each version
and also has a common character of Ebenezer Scrooge. One of the differences
between the versions include Ebenezer knowing more about Bob Cratchit in the
movie than in the original book. A Christmas Carolbook was written by Charles
Dickensin 1843 but the movie was a 1938 American film adaptation of Charles
Dickens work.
Ebenezer Scrooge is an elderly miser who learns the mistake of his ways on
Christmas Eve after he was visited by four spirits. These spirits include: Jacob

Ysleta Mission for Christianizing the Tigua Indians
Ysleta Mission
Ysleta, Texas
Mission Corpus Christi de la Ysleta, the first mission in Texas, was established by
Antonio de OtermГn and Fray Francisco de Ayeta in 1682 and was maintained by
Franciscans for christianizing the Tigua Indians. The Tigua came as refugees and
captives with the former Governor of New Mexico, Antonio de OtermГn on his
retreat to the El Paso area after his unsuccessful attempt to recover New Mexico in
the winter of 1681 82 during the Pueblo Revolt. La MisiГіn de la Ysleta del Sur,
consecrated in 1682, was built by the Tigua (Tewa, Tiwa) speaking peoples
originally from Isleta and Sandia Pueblos in New Mexico. The mission was located
east of present day El Paso. The pueblo and mission were dedicated to the Tiguas
patron, St. Anthony of Padua, became the nucleus of a community that has existed
for 300 years the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Texas. Today, Ysleta
Mission is on the National Registry of Historic Places and part of the National
Historic Trail system of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.
From northern New Mexico to West Texas
The Tigua have faced many challenges in the past three hundred years since
arriving in what is now West Texas, and Mission Ysleta was become the place of
meeting and mixing of cultures. The original mission church at Ysleta del Sur is
believed to have been built of mud chinked logs and willow reeds. Later, Tigua labor
built a permanent mission from adobe by 1682. Bishop Salpointe, of Tucson,

Ms 13 Gang
MARA SAVATRUCHA (MS13) The Civil War in the early 1980s in El Salvador
cost the lives of about 100,000 people. Besides, two million people are reported to
have immigrated to the United States, due to the uncertain political and social
conditions there. A big chunk of the refugees arrived and settled in the Rampart area
of Los Angeles. They needed low cost housing and employment. That area was
already afflicted with gangs and crimes. For the local population of Mexican
Americans, this was the most unwelcome development. The combustible youth
immigrants from Salvador took the problem of their survival in response to the
victimization at the hands of local gangs, as a serious challenge and formed a new
gang by name Mara Salvatrucha,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Illinois, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Canada, El

MS 13 gang is truly international and on the verge of becoming the first gang to be
categorized as an organized crime entity. (MS13 Gang....)The strength of the gang
members is 36,000 in Honduras. The age of the members is normally between 11
to 40 years. Initially started as a defensive organization to protect El Salvadorian
immigrants from the cruelty of LA gangs, the gang soon began targeting the
members of the Salvadorian community as well. Criminality became a way of life
for the M 13 gang members, with no holds barred. It soon turned out to be business
of profiteering, and it expanded rapidly across the United States. By the 1990s, its
network spread like the octopus growing in all directions, and its membership had
reached the East Coast. Initially they were not well organized. In the early 2000s,
the organizational pattern had changed. The leadership of these newly organized
units emanated from faraway places like California and El Salvador. Cells began to
sprout all over the country. In Texas and the Rio
Becoming A Dancer
The life of a dancer
In 1938 Jerome Robbins stated that the dance industry is plagued with difficulties
after his poor experiences with the Dance Centre, linking to this I will be
discussing whether these difficulties have been addressed or if they are still
prominent in the life of a dancer today. To do this I will be comparing the lifestyles
of performers from a range of different styles, to see what boundaries they face and
how they differentiate to one another.
To have the life of a dancer it is important to become established in the industry, after
looking at case studies from the Royal Ballet I have discovered a correlation,
displaying that a dancer is to start at the bottom and then needs to get noticed to
progress.

However if we go back to the statement above suggesting that jobs are based on a
person s reputation, my concern is would they risk speaking out if they are being
over worked or paid inadequately. I would not commit to a solely performance based
carrier in dance as it would give me little financial stability, the career project
supports this by stating only a small percentage of dancers can actually find steady
work in this area . This is dependent on the type of contract the dancer was given as a
long term contracts offers stability for a longer time period, however to achieve this
a dancer must secure a position in dance companies such as The Royal Ballet or
motion house and short term contracts are more a accessible.
I feel that to live the life of a dancer the vital thing to have determination to battle
many of the obstacles they will be facing, as it is clear that dance is in a low
ranked compared to other art forms as a professional dancer falls into the category
of a highly skilled, sought after employee in a high risk profession but yet is still not
paid as much as an actor who has a stunt double to perform any parts deemed
dangerous .Despite these setbacks a dancer should always remember why they got
into dance in the first place and let that be their momentum to push them further in

Internship Reflection
The internship that I acquired this summer was at Palisades Medical hospital in the
physical rehabilitation center. I have volunteered in many other physical therapy
facilities, but this internship was the best I ever had. The previous facilities that I
volunteered at were private practices I wanted to change the environment so I
decided to volunteer in the hospital. During my internship, I was exposed to new
concepts within physical therapy, which lead me to a new understanding about the
musculoskeletal system. I had the pleasure of shadowing Doctor Kimberly DuPree
she exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to help restore a patient s
mobility. The essential courses that I have taken at Saint Peters University such as
Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology prepared me for this opportunity. I would
observe most of her evaluations for educational purposes and to translate for her
because most of the patients were Hispanic. Throughout her evaluations, I saw that
she would go beyond what was written on the prescription and treat other areas that
may have caused the primary symptom. During my time of volunteering, Doctor
Kimberly mostly dealt with patients with lower extremity complications specifically
patients suffering from lower back pain and with these patients she would conduct a
number of tests that helped determine the source of the problem. In all her
assessments concerning patients with lower back pain she would test for signs of a
pelvic tilt. The reason why

Displacement and Don Juan Essay
Displacement and Don Juan
Unlike the fitfully epic Don Juan , I d like to begin in medias res , with the anger of
Lord Byron. We join him thick in the struggle with a central concern of DJ s
composition: the perils of transmission:
Pray when I send you a parcel or packet do acknowledge it I care nothing about my
letters or your answers I only want to know, when I have taken trouble about a thing
that it has arrived.
By the time he fired off those impatient words to his publisher John Murray in
1821, Byron had been living abroad and publishing overseas for five years. They
were years marked by drastic shifts of tone in his writing from earnestness to
playfulness in his poetry, and quite the reverse trajectory in correspondence ... Show

When Byron left England for good in 1816, and took up Childe Harold once again,
he still didn t trust the post; instead, he found close friends who were headed from
Italy to London friends who had inspired or supplemented Byron s work, such as
Percy Shelley and John Cam Hobhouse to carry Childe Harold back to Murray. The
transmission of DJ s first two cantos went along similarly improvised, inside lines
with the distinction that the bearer of this new cargo of poesy was a only a minor
acquaintance of Byron s, the roving Lord Lauderdale, who had no personal link to
the lines he carried. The reader of Byron s letters of November 1818 finds many
references to Lauderdale wending his way slowly towards London with verse
Byron knew would make a big impact. Yet when he delivered DJ, Lauderdale also
carried along with it unflattering gossip about Byron s Venetian dissipation. It was
a marred delivery, with Lauderdale proving to be, Byron later wrote, a damned old
Ladro porco fottuto, a son of a Bitch for all his laced Coat. The personal courier
meant a compromise of authority. Byron sent the remainder of DJ to London via the
impersonal mechanism of the post.
That method of delivery, of course, offered its own hazards. The reestablishment of
postal routs directly after the continental wars had to seem tenuous,

Character Analysis Of Ponyboy Curtis In The Outsiders

lovable family due to a memorial event.
In the beginning of The Outsiders, Pony felt confused and despised around his
brother. According to Ponyboy, he states, I never could please him. He would have
hollered at me for carrying a blade if I had carried one. If I brought home B s, he
wanted A s. If I was playing football, I should be studying, and if I was reading, I
should be out playing football (13). Pony feels that no matter what, he d never
amuse Darry. He also felt despised. A little later in the novel, it claims, My face got
hot as I but my lip. Darry...what was Darry like?...I burst out bitterly: ... He likes
Soda everybody likes Soda but he can t stand me. I bet he wishes he could stick me
in a home somewhere, and he d do it, too, if Soda d let him (42). Pony s negative
opinion resembles a feeling of being unloved. In the story, he complains his brother

Darry was in tears, which is a sign of anxiety and despair. All along, Pony thought
his strict brother wasn t pleased with Pony as his brother. Now that Ponyboy sees
Darry looking worried, he knows it s not true. This affected the

The Pros And Cons Of Internet Addiction
Within our modern world, the notion that human beings are distancing themselves
farther and farther from inter personal communication cannot be closer to the truth. In
today s world, people utilize technology to make things easier, and to better
understand the world surrounding the individuals. What ever happened to the
relationship between a single personand their peers when knowledge came to be a
defining factor? In this research paper, it will be discussing what an addiction to
this technology does to a person. It will be investigating the differences and
comparisons between two forms of an internet addiction: Cybersex and porn, and a
dependency on video games. It will also be considering what these two addictions do
and how they affect the lives of both single people, and parents who have adopted
responsibilities within their households by declaring themselves part of a family unit.
Summary
Internet addiction is a new age phenomenon that not all people active in the modern
world fully understand. To many, it is simply playing on the computer too much ,
however, those same people do not even realize that they are part of the
phenomenon. It has been stated by many scientists in multiple studies that we, as a
generation in the twenty first century, will have back problems by the time people
are in our late years. This is due to the invention and adaptation of the smart phone.
Everyone has a device such as this, and spend most of their day on it in some way or
another.
Analysis Of The Blackbird Call In Grief
Death is a spiritual experience that is flush with taboo connotations. When a loved
one leaves this life for the after there are tears and grieving. This occurrence has been
used countless times throughout history to commemorate the passing of a loved one,
this makes it difficult to produce a piece of poetrythat discussed death in a way it
has not been discussed before. In The New Oxford Book of Irish Verse poem 67
which will be referred to as The blackbird calls in grief , poem 108 which will be
referred to as There are three ways to await death , and All That is Left...by Michael
Hartnett discuss this taboo topic in new and interesting ways. These poems are
distinct because of the way that the author represents death. These poems are related
and similar while being vastly different.
The blackbird calls in grief is an anonymously written poem from the twelfth
century. The narrator of the poem laments the story of the death of loved ones. In
the poem, the narrator laments to a blackbird and mourns the passing of both their
families. The bird is personified by the narrator. In this poem, the death is of two
families, the birds, and the mans. The harm now happened to him/ not long since
happened to me (Kinsella 85). An analogy is created equating the loss of the two
families and the injustice of the loss. The seventh stanza questions God, O You who
made the world, / Your bias is hard to bear:/ friends all around me are spared, / their

Kurt Vonnegut
This conversation really stood out to me while I was reading the chapter. Kurt
Vonnegut was able to connect the dreadful history of our past with important
current problems of our present. In this time period of this conversation, Billy is
with his wife, Valencia Pilgrim, at their honeymoon. Throughout the book,
Valencia is described as an extremely good natured woman. However, she is
slightly large in size and is extremely conscious of it. As you can see, despite the
fact that the book was written in the mid 1900s, beauty standards have been
imposed on women since the beginning of time. Valencia is one of my favorite
characters in the book. Although only appearing once or twice, she is presented as a
caring wife and a loving mother. Valencia
Film Techniques Used In 1984 And Metropolis By Fritz Lang
Language, history and belief are easily changed. It is through the manipulation and
representation of language, history and belief that gives elite, governing bodies
power over the masses. In Nineteen Eighty Four a novel by George Orwell, Orwell
takes this readers to Airstrip One, which is what remains of London in the year
2060 after many years of war. Airstrip one is under constant surveillance through
telescreens under the watchful eye of the Party and Big Brother. Similarly in
Metropolis a silent film by Fritz Lang, Lang takes his viewers to Metropolis a
futuristic mega city, which is operated by machines below the surface by many
workers slaving away in the subterranean workers city. In both Nineteen Eighty Four
and Metropolis language,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film Metropolis, Fritz Lang uses film techniques and specific genre devices
to communicate to the audience the ideas and concepts featured in Metropolis. Lang
uses elements from both Science Fiction and Dystopian film genres, as well as
elements of German Expressionism to warn future generations about the dangers of
technology and science, human ambition and industrialisation. The science fiction
genre typically uses a futuristic setting, feature characters that try to challenge or
test the morals and boundaries of human ambition and science, has technology that
is incongruous with the time period of release and has a new political and societal
structure. The futuristic setting used in Metropolis is based upon New York City,
which Lang visited before making the film, the large skyscrapers represent man s
ambition and are symbolic of the Tower of Babel, from the Old Testament, which is
a story about ambition and rebellion. It is through these motif and techniques that
Lang expresses his concerns for the future. Elements such as the use of chiaroscuro,
use of reflective surfaces, anthropomorphism and art deco elements (seen in the
long shots of the city) are all example of German Expressionism. The use of
chiaroscuro in the establishing shot of the city as well as the low key lighting
created long, deep shadows being cast across the city scape, which highlighted the
grandness of the buildings and also brings to attention the underlying message about
ambition. The Robot Maria is an example of anthropomorphism, by giving Maria s
human like characteristics to the robot, Rotwang s characterisation is also another
science fiction element because of the use of futuristic technology and he also tries to
overstep ethical boundaries in creating the Robot Maria. Lang used all of these
elements in order to convey his very clear message about the dangers that

The Invention of the Steamboat by Inventor,Robert Fulton
Imagine an invention that could take people to where they wanted to go, created
larger trade markets, and created very successful businesses. Robert Fulton was the
inventor of the steamboat in America. He knew there was another way of travel and
trade, a more efficient and quicker way. Robert Fulton first started out as a young
artist, but he realized that was not what he was meant to do.
Canals really interested Fulton since a young age. His passion of creating something
like the steamboat started when he lived in England. People always told him it wasn
t possible, but on August 17, 1807 Robert Fulton launched his first successful
steamboat, the Clermont. This boat made the 150 mile journey from New York City
to Albany in 32 hours. There was a great need for this invention. America needed a
way for people to move from one place to another, to transport goods upstream, and
activate trade along the Mississippi River.
Fulton s invention of the steamboat had a significant impact on American
transportation by, expanding towns, creating new industries, and creating new jobs.
There was a need for this invention because of communication, trade, and travel. Ever
since the steamboat communication could be sent more than one way out. Most
boats around that time could only travel downstream, but the Clermont didn t do the
same. Since the boat could go upstream and downstream communication was
broadened. The trade in America was always very good, and the steamboat

Perfect Pizzeria: The Not So Perfect Case Study

is an environment that lacks company dedication, effective management, and
individual motivation. Although the company is the second largest franchise of its

The current system is such that each franchise is equipped with a manager who

whereby individuals will receive recognition via company newsletter and a plaque in
addition to a cash bonus. This will ensure that the manager is not the lone recipient of

communication between manager and employees the Goal Setting Theory of

Junk Food Taxes
Abstract
The on going issue of battling obesity in America continues to haunt us. It has
become a national epidemic and a major topic for controversy. The suggestion of
implementing a junk food tax was proposed by several experts. The purpose of the
tax was to decrease the consumption of unhealthy foods. This tax would also generate
revenue earmarked for relevant causes, such as; improving diet, obesity prevention,
and nutrition education. The underlying purpose is to focus on maximizing health
benefits. It has sparked controversy on the levels of additional bureaucracy,
interfering with personal liberties, and freedom of choice.

We also should put thought into the number of snack food and soft drink vending
machines and their locations. The school systems are required by federal law to
provide nutritious lunches and food. We need to strengthen and enforce the USDA
regulation of foods sold in schools. Over the years the junk food industry has found
ways to elude the law and its enforcement. Soft drink companies have signed
contracts that guarantee schools multimillion dollar payments in return for putting in
vending machines. We should act at all levels of government to eliminate the
contracts and ban sales of soft drinks in schools all together. Students are not there
to make the schools money; they are there to get an education. Brownell had many
discussions with public health officials regarding America s ongoing problem with
obesity. William Hathaway, of The Hartford Courant, had these comments to make:
His conclusions have been at the center of a growing national debate over food from
whether trans fats should be served in restaurants to snack food in schools. Brownell
believes the chief culprit is the trillion dollar food industry, which Brownell said has
stayed profitable through massive advertising campaigns to get people to eat more
calories than they need (Hathaway, 2007).
Let Freedom Ring The junk food tax is a thought provoking idea, provided the funds

Erving Goffman And Dramaturgy
Erving Goffman was a Canadian American sociologist who had a great influence on
the development of modern American sociology. Goffman was most well known for
his work on Dramaturgy; some elements may include performance, impression
management, sign vehicles and sign activity, and many more. One of the great works
by Goffman was his book the presentation of self in everyday life.
The first element of Dramaturgy is performance. A performance is any activity of
an individual which occurs during a period marked by his continuous presence
before a particular set of observers and which has some influence on the observers.

(Goffman, 1959) An example of role distance would be a student not participating in
class activities, not studying for tests and not doing any assignments/turning them in
on time. In my life, I sometimes engage in role distance from my role as a student.
When I am out with friends or when I am at work, I am not focused on studying or
engaging in other typical behaviors of a student.
Goffman stated that there are three regions in which we perform in. The front
stage is the region where an actor s performance is given and visible to other actors
and the audience. For example, if one is taking on the role of a waitress they are to
perform as if they would do anything to satisfy a guest, and when they are out in
their sections and serving their guests they are in the front stage of the performance.
This is very similar to my previous job as a server, when I was interacting with and

Eloquentia Perfecta Analysis
Public speaking is often avoided by those who have presentation anxiety, but
understanding the art of communication including the parts of a presentation and the
concepts that make up an effective speech can help develop confidence. Eloquentia
Perfecta teaches the skills that are necessary to be an effective speaker and can be
incorporated into life at Creighton as well as life after graduation in careers and
relationships. Communications 152 pushed this concept and helped rid my fear of
public speaking while educating me on the necessary components to communicate
successfully.
To start with, Eloquentia Perfecta is part of Jesuit tradition that incorporates Christian
values into practice of public speaking and persuasion. This concept serves as the
foundation for Jesuit education as it introduces principles of the Catholic faith as a
premise to communication as a way to benefit the common good while still looking
to improve and deepen ourselves. As we grow and organize our thoughts and
beliefs, we can more effectively reach out to audiences in hopes of informing and
persuading them in order to help the world and the people in it live more closely to
Jesuit values. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way the Father Gilger described Eloquentia Perfecta suggested to me that it
calls for a person of good moral character to speak elegantly about an issue to fully
encompass the entire concept. That is why it is so important to actively question
and challenge the world so that we may better understand ourselves, God, the world
around us, and what is right. Part of having good character and speaking well is
choosing the right issues to talk about and speaking in a way that can be easily
understood in order to teach and persuade the
American Indians Totemic Beliefs
To discover the basis of elementary religion, we must further dig into the totemic
beliefs people once had to get to the point where we are today. However, to
understand how our society was constructed. Australian tribes were generally the
ones to believe in totemic but, they were not originally the first to find totemic
beliefs. One of the first people to discover totemwere the North American Indians. In
fact, the civilization was more advanced in Indian tribes than of Australian cults. The
technology has become more developed, the people live in houses or tents and there
are even fortified villages. The social density is greater, and centralization, which is
altogether absent in Australia. (Durkheim 93). The reason why North American

These classifications are indeed the first that we meet in history. We just saw that
they are modeled on social organization, or rather that they have taken the actual
framework of society as their own. It was the phratries that served as genera and
the clans as species. It is because men formed groups that they were able to group
things: All they did was make room for things they themselves already formed. And
if these various classes of things were not simply juxtaposed to one another but
arranged instead of according to a unified plan, that is because the same social groups
to which they are assimilated are themselves unified and, through that union, form an
organic whole: the tribe. The unity of these first logical systems merely reproduces
that of society . (145)
These tribes of men have constructed the idea of social organization and genus in
history, because this, it is the first time social construction is introduced when we
consider tribes and cults that believed in totems mainly in Australia. Durkheim also
9th Street Children Park Problem
Kids thrive off interaction with each other and playing . They need this interaction to
grow socially, physically, and mentally. When there playgrounds get torn down,
mistreated, and rundown it presents problems for these kids lives. The problem I am
focusing on is the 9th Street Childrens Park. The problem with it is that it s getting
worn down and becoming a small hazard.
This problem has been becoming worse and worse over the past decade. Concerns
have grown with it as well. Parents are concerned about their children s safety, and I
would have to both agree and disagree. The main problem with the park is the main
structure. The wood is untreated and the bolts are well past starting to rust. Rust can
turn metal sharp and increase the risk of injury and could cause a serious
emergency. The park is over 20 years old and in my lifetime I don t know of any
attempts to fix the problem until recently.
First and foremost the safety of our children must come first, and anything done
must be done in the best interest of them. But we should also be keeping a city
treasure intact for them to enjoy and for their kids to enjoy. My three part solution
to the problem is to move ahead with temporary closing of the park, but for the
purpose of a renovation. The second part of the solution is to ... Show more content

Simply tearing down the park is a waste of time, materials, and memories when we
can just build a better park and a stronger future of children. If this problem does not
get solved and the current plan to level the park does not go through, we could risk
injuring children and causing bigger problems than a playground. We as a community
can do what we feel is right for our children. We owe it to our children to keep this
park intact and safe to play on. We need to think of more solutions to fix this problem
and go to city meetings to peacefully protest our opinion on this
The Success Of The Unification Of Italy
To unify a state, many components such as strategy, population willingness and
cooperation are needed. All of those were crucial for the unification of Italy, but
moreover it was the two men that have contributed the most; Count Camillo di
Cavour and Giuseppe Garibaldi. They were completely different. Cavour was the
leading strategic power behind the unification and Garibaldi was the national hero
inspiring the masses. It cannot be denied that the success of the unification of Italy
depended on both of them. Although Cavour was the leading figure in the Italian
Unification, its completion would not have happened without Garibaldi s assertive
actions.
Before the Italian Unification, Italy has not been politically unified since the Roman
Empire. Italy consisted of many autonomous city states and there was also a great
influence of foreign dynasties. Most of the North part of Italy belonged to Austria
Hungary, the South part to the Bourbon dynasty and the states of church, which were
located in between to the Pope as the supranational sovereign. The Pope himself also
created another barrier against the unification together with France, Spain and Austria
Hungary. During every invasion, at least one ruler always stood on the side of
invaders for his own profit. Both the city states and the dynasties were resistant
towards patriotic movements, which were not of their own and fought neighboring
states, representing a threat. After the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte, forty years of

Defence mechanisms are mental processes which are automatically triggered
when anxiety occurs. They are unconscious strategies which are used by
individuals to protect themselves from stress or guilt. (O Brien, 2008) The
defence mechanism, which is evident in this case study is denial. Ac cording to
Freud, denial is refusing to accept reality. It involves a denial from an occurring
event or a previous event which caused pain but refuses to acknowledge it. This is
the most primitive defence and plays an im portant role in the grieving process.
From my reading of the case study, it is evident that Imelda is in denial as Imelda
refuses to take her oral steroids because it makes her gain weight. She also hasn t
refilled her prescription within the last month as her concerned mother had checked

Then there is the Internal Revenue act of 1861, which increased income tax rate.
This assured us that the government would have a, reliable source of income to pay

because of unemployment, bad schools and education, and prior instances of police

make it happen and Ed Davis had the foresight to approve the program. The term

Today s society is in many respects dominated by the media. Newspapers, books,

well educated and intellectual members of the public. Clearly, the properties of
these formats can be seen as direct opposites. However they do share some
similarities. An obvious common property of all newspapers is that they are
commercial, that is, that they will try to appeal to a large a readership as possible,
within their market niche readership and this is reflected in their range of content

tabloids and broadsheets (such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Express), although the
large tabloid and broadsheet newspapers tend to follow the traditional stereotypical
styles for their type. The other key similarity between each type of newspaper is
that they all exist to report the news and current affairs, differing only in the way in
which they present and portray news stories which is also dependent on the
preference of their readership. However, their priorities regarding what stories are

with the time we are born in and our mentality along with our way of thinking. This

where it focuses on the relationships between the generations. But why exactly are the
characters from the different generations having such a hard time understanding each

The Universal commercial Code ( UCC) has been created to foster the free flow of
commercial activity in the United States by making laws that are both reasonable

There are certain requirements that must be met for an item to be qualified as a
negotiable instrument. First the instrument must be in writing. This writing must also
meet the permanence and portability requirements. The writing must be made on a
permanent surface (not in the sand) and it must be portable and able to be transferred.

A blank endorsement does not specify a particular endorsee. It may consist of a
mere signature. This signature converts the order paper into bearer paper that can be

contains the signature of the endorser along and specifies to whom the instrument is

Unqualified endorsement is a promise by the endorser to pay the holder or any

submitted addresses key aspects necessary for the project to be implemented in line
with best practices for project management. A grant is a monetary award of financial
assistance (Neitzey, 2016). Grants are typically awarded for the purpose of providing

Provided the fact that proposals are the gateway to grant funding, there are a few keys
to ensuring that an organization submits a successful proposal. The first step is to
document an unmet community need that the grant seeker is in a position to address
(Neitzey, 2016). By demonstrating that a problem exists, organizations are more
likely to explain who will benefit should the project be funded. Furthermore, by
highlighting the problem, the organization is more capable of articulating the overall
impact the project will have on those who are negatively impacted by the lack of a
project addressing the problem. The second step is to demonstrate a clear plan for the
program (Neitzey, 2016). Once developed, the plan successfully articulates the
organization s ability to identify themselves as a unique, yet impactful organization.
Essentially, the plan is to show that the organization has the necessary resources to
successfully end or minimize the problem discussed earlier in the proposal. The third
step is to thoroughly research funders, competitors, and potential partners (Neitzey,
2016). Perhaps this is the most important step, due to the fact that without the funding
there will still be a need in the community. However, when organizations are seeking
funding, they should rely on funding that align with their mission. By doing so, they
are not mission drifting, and they are applying for funds

Ms. Williams
I have chosen to do my director analysis assignment on Mr. John Hughes. John
Hughes was born in Lansing Michigan to John Hughes Sr., who worked in sales,
and his mother who volunteered for charity. Most of his first twelve years growing
up was spent in Grosse Pointe, Michigan where he felt his title was the quiet kid .
When 1963 came around Hughes s family moved to a suburb outside of Chicago
Illinois, here was where Hughes attended Glenbrook North High School. Hughes
claims that Glenbrook North High School was the school that provided inspiration
for his future films. Hughes found much of his inspiration through the halls spent at

Particularly with John Hughes films he focuses on the family, and teens, and their
struggles in life. Also with Hughes films the audience is capable of relating easily to
scenarios or situations shown throughout the film.
I believe that in this film Hughes was attempting to show the audience that sometimes
it s not what you are doing, but the people who are surrounding you. Clark Griswold
who was the father figure in National Lampoon s Vacation was destined to get his
family to Walley World, through the process of many unfortunate events Clark
forgets to enjoy the journey with his family. In the end the only thing that matter was
that the Griswold family were enjoying each other.
In conclusion John Hughes was successful in completing this task. Hughes showed
the audience the importance of family and other ones who care for you. Hughes also
informed the viewers that as we go through life, there are going to be mishaps along
the path. When those mishaps appear in our life, it s important for us to relax and
move onto the next thing and enjoy the moment. I found this movie making me laugh
often, and appreciative for the time that I get with my

The IFRS are the standards, interpretations and the framework adopted and
developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) (Freeman,
2014). These set of ac counting standards would improve comparability of financial
information as well as the flow and pricing of capital (Epstein at al 2009). IFRS is
becoming the global standard for the prep aration of company financial statements
(Freeman, 2014). International compatible financial statements assist in lending
decisions, loan monitoring, and establish international vendor credit and development
of other international business relationship (Evans, et al.., 2005).
Regulatory frameworks, or accounting standards, are necessary for the preparation of
finan cial statements (Freeman, 2014). They provide a foundation of how to translate
an entity s activities into a set of financial statements, on which users can base their
economic and in vestment decisions (Freeman, 2014). IAS 40 is one of the standards
formulated and revised by the International Accounting Standards Board to make a
vital contribution to the quality of financial statements. The standard deals with
investment property, which forms part of the assets of a business entity. The
objective of this Standard is to prescribe the accounting treatment for Investment
property and related disclosure requirements. In this study, I will be looking at the
positives and negative effects of this standard in detail. I will be exploring, re

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect The Economy
Many immigrant families moved to America in hopes of a better life. More
moneymaking opportunities in America made people want to move for a more
comfortable lifestyle. Along with increased population, there was a fast amount of
industrial and agricultural growth. With more workers to make products, industries
grew faster than ever before. There were new technologies that improved daily life.
Big business arose which helped the country gain wealth. The invention of trains
helped transportation of both people and goods and that helped the economy grow.
The United Stateschanged greatly during the industrial revolutionbetween 1820 and
1870 because of inventors and their inventions.
Between 1760 and 1840 a new transition to a new manufacturing process was called
the industrial revolution. This was a time period of a big change in every aspect of
life. The population grew and because of this as did business and the average income.
Many main inventors of the time created new things and without them, life would
look very different today. For example, the light bulb and the sewing machine. It
created easier ways to travel (the train) and new forms of entertainment (the

Discuss Fritz Lang s Metropolis and Charlie Chaplin s Modern Times
Very few movies portray the relationship between the government and civilian
masses during trying moments such as Fritz Lang s Metropolis , and Charlie
Chaplin s Modern Times . These are two critically acclaimed films made in the late
1920 s and mid 1930 s. The time period captured is the great depression, and examine
the role of the governing authorities in relation to those governed.
Metropolis simply passes as one of the original science fiction movies in the world,
and it has vivid imagery in it. Its main themes revolve around cultural exploitation
and political issues facing the citizenry. It is set in Germany and tells the story of a

It concentrates on the effects of know how on the society and how human beings are
living side by side with them. They effects of mechanization are evident from the
opening scene of this film where workers are being monitored by machines in a
factory lending credence to his view of human enslavement by technology. At the
time of making the film, America was going through high unemployment rates, and
corporate downfall as a result of the great depression. Hence, the idea of saving
money and time so as to amass huge profits came up hence the introduction of
machines to work on behalf of humans.
Many film critics have argued that these two films resemble each other even though
they were produced almost a decade apart. Both are about the suffering of the
ordinary person in the hands of a ruthless upper class. The ordinary man is seeking to
live in a normal environment where there are no controls, and work is not
mechanized. They all talk about a future where machines take over from human
beings and do all the work. The machines even subdue the humans. In both films
machines are at the centre of businesses as they make work easier, and increase
profits for the elite. Governments in a capitalistic society do not control businesses.
Furthermore, in both films the government is unable to take care of the masses as the
elitist control all the resources available.
In Metropolis , it represents a capitalistic society where only those with the means
Protagonist In The Cask Of Amontillado
How far would you go to make your adversary pay for what he or she has done to
you? In the novel, it is already pointing out the disagreement between the two main
characters in the first few lines. The disagreement includes the antagonist (Fortunado)
being very physical towards the protagonist (Amontillado) but when the antagonist
ventures into insult, the protagonist becomes imprudent and jumps right into what
type of revenge he will do to make him pay. Is the protagonist within reason or just
plain delirious? Amontillado has a very diverse and complex way of being. He not
only wants to punish his victim, he wants to punish him with impunity, which means
to be exempt from the consequences. Amontillado is inclined toward using Fortunado

The Symptoms Of Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Disease or Cushing s Syndrome? Aren t they the same thing? What are
they even? Cushing s disease is a medical condition; a disorder of the pituitary gland
causes it to create too much ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) which in turn leads
to overproduction of cortisol. Cushing s Syndrome is a symptom of Cushing s
disease; as well as of other conditions, whether endogenous (originating from inside
the body) or exogenous (originating from outside the body).
Pathophysiology and Etiology
Cushing s Syndrome is the result of overexposure to cortisol, a hormone normally
secreted by the adrenal cortex in a diurnal rhythm, with an increase in times of stress.

Other factors that may increase the risk of Cushing s disease include obesity, type 2
diabetes, poorly controlled blood sugar levels and high blood pressure. While none
of these factors are a direct cause of the condition, they are associated with higher
prevalence of it. (Endocrine Society, 2016) Cushing s syndrome is most common in
patients on high levels of steroid medications to treat chronic inflammatory disorders.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Diagnostic Testing
Suspicion may initially result from the characteristic cushingoid appearance in
addition to a history of taking steroids. Levels of cortisol can be tested from saliva
or a 24 hour urine collection. Levels of ACTH in the blood are also measured, along
with potassium. Additional tests may be done to locate the cause, such as a tumor.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Complications
If untreated, Cushing s syndrome may result in bone loss leading to fractures, high
blood pressure, frequent or unusual infections, Type 2 diabetes, and loss of muscle
mass and strength. (Mayo Clinic Staff,
Self Reflection On Teaching And Learning
I believe a successful learning experience is engaging and valued by the students. I
believe students will value what they are learning if they believe what they re
learning is relevant. Relevance is important to teaching and learning because it is
directly related to student engagement and motivation (Frymier Schulman, 1995;
Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008), states a positive classroom environment
provides a sense of security, community, belonging and identity (Marsh, 2008).
Based on my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing clear
expectations within the classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to
create a safe learning environment (Fatt Hee, 1996). I believe within all classrooms,
students diversity should be valued. This creates a discrimination free environment
and ensures students feel safe and included (Philips, 2010). According to Stanford
Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in class when learning experiences are
satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits all teaching strategy
for all students. Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to cater
for a variety of different learners (Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly
evaluate their practices and whether they are meeting the learning needs of all
students (Zeichner Liston, 1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers to improve the
educational experiences provided for students and assist in identifying the
professional education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well
(Schwartz, n.d.). As a future teacher developing learning programs, teaching,
assessing, providing feedback on student learning and reporting to parents/carers are
skills I must be proficient in. Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching
and learning On my most recent placement I taught a series of lessons (artefact) for a
year 8 Health and Physical Education class. I had full responsibility for planning and
teaching the lessons. I planned multidimensional lessons which enriched my

was essential I implement strategies and practices that would enable me to

Disadvantages Of Wireless Technology
No doubt, in last few decades technologies involved in the communication systems

Wireless communication system is one of the biggest inventions of the century and
its developments can be processed in different terms of generation having approx.
10 years for each one. At every step of each generation is to provide to link with
persons at every corner of globe with set of quality services. Today we are in Fourth
Generation; it is categorized based on its characteristic services and features like
transmission signals, data transmission rate, bandwidth frequency and nature of the
services provided. First generation (1G) is introduced in 1980, so each generation

circuit switching and FDMA with 30 kHz channels occupying the 824MHz 894MHz
frequency band .First generation supports only voice transmission .The data was not
reliable; there were interrupted communication and few other problems in First
Generation [1]. Second Generation (2G) technology was established in 1990, which
used digital signals for transmission and two digital modulationschemes TDMA and
CDMA with circuit switched network . Second Generation uses the existing radio
spectrum to provide the services. It was developed to overcome the previous
generation s drawbacks, and to have data and voice transmission. But this generation
also has few drawbacks like
new zealand politics 1984-1993 Essay
On July 6 1984, the fourth Labour government were elected into parliament after
defeating the National party in a snap election. 1984 can be regarded as a major
turning point in New Zealand political history in the sense that significant political
changes affected the whole of the New Zealand society, economy and political
structure. New Zealandgovernment s experimented with radical Neoliberal policy
programmes to achieve economic and social progress during this period. The essay
shall discuss the central features of the process of policy changeover the period of
1984 to 1993 in New Zealand. These reforms were among the most sweeping in
scope and scale within any industrialised democracy. There are a significant number

Thus, the author suggests that the representation of interests is shaped by collective
actors and institutions that bear the shape of their own history (Immergut 1998: 17).
It is important to analyse the role of institutional arrangements in the development of
national economies in New Zealand and Australia, and assesses their reaction to the
pressures brought by the processes of social and economic reforms. It presents the
main theoretical traditions in comparative political study, thus, one can apply these
theoretical perspectives to the study of Australasian economies. In the early 1980s,
both countries elected labour governments after long periods of conservative rule
(Castles, 1996:96). In response to international economic demands, these governments
introduced market orientated reforms. Four major institutional characteristics of
these two democracies shall be scrutinised further, including the various structures of
the political system, the welfare state and the relationship between organised interests
and the state (Castles, 1996:97). This essay is particularly concerned with the extent,
direction and causes of changes in these four institutional arrangements in the period
1984 1993, in a comparative study of New Zealand and Australia. North identifies that
institutional change took place in many cases, but it has been path dependent and
incremental (1990: 89). The level to which institutions played a fundamental

The Shadow of the Galilean. By Gerd Theissen. Fortress Press: Minneapolis, 2007,

The book begins with the main character, Andreas, being imprisoned for alleged
involvement in an anti Roman riot. He was only there to observe his friend Barabbas
a dangerous Zealot but was caught up in the commotion when Roman officers began
beating and capturing the demonstrators. Thus he came to be arrested, and is waiting
anxiously in his cell when he is abruptly taken out by guards and brought to an
interrogation room. The Roman officer questions him about his involvement in the
event, but Andreas does his best to avoid being connected to the demonstration and
Barabbas at all costs. They discuss various problems relating to the submission of the
Jews to the Romans, and the events that have thus been brought on by having
Herodian kings and Roman officials ruling their land. It is through this interrogation
that the readers get to familiarize themselves with a brief historical background,
before continuing to read about Andreas adventure. It is also through this period of
questioning, that the reader gets to know more about Andreas himself. It is made
clear that he is from a wealthy family, originating from the city of Sepphoris located
in Galilee. He mentions that his family has always been on good terms with the
Romans, and that he and his father both make decent money in the grain business;
often dealing with patrons of high status like Herod Antipas. This information
The And The Bill Of Rights Essay
The two sources of rights and fundamental principles found in the United States legal
system as outlined by the text. Liberties and Rights what are the different between
the two. Both of these words are in the Declaration of Independences and the Bill of
Rights. These two words always been blurred, when it comes to their distinction.
However, in today laws the words used interchangeable. However, they do example
two different kinds of guaranteed protections. Supreme Court Judge Felix Frankfurter
stated that It s is a fair summary of Constitutional history that landmarks of our
liberties have often been forged in case involving not very nice people
(UShistory.org, 2016). Civil liberties are political liberties that give you protections
against government actions (USHistory.org, 2016). Like, the Bill of Rights First
Amendment. Freedom of religion, which gives people the right to practices whatever
religion they like. Government, than, cannot interfere (Handler, 1994). Therefore, the
First Amendment gives people liberty from the actions of the government stepping
in. Civil Rights are all the rights the law gives a person. Constitutional or Statutory
guaranties against discrimination due to race, religion, national origin, gender, age, or
disability (Handler, 1994). The way government try to counterbalances this right are
the majority rule but it is funny how democracy it often finds minorities out voted.
Most people feel that civil rights and liberties are

Daniel Berrigan was a well known anti war activist as well as a Jesuit priest. He was
born in Virginia, Minnesota, on May 9, 1921. He was the fifth of six boys and grew

At the very early age of 18 he decided to join the Society of Jesus. Daniel was

European Impact On The Indigenous People In The 1800 s
From the underhanded acts of dispossession to the unintentional carriage of diseases,
European settlement had an significant impact on the indigenous people of Australia.
With neither party backing down and the indigenous people being throughly
disadvantaged with their lack of technology, it is easy to say that the European
settlement of Australia had a significant impact on them. Along with convicts and
new technology, the First Fleet in 1788 also brought many diseases to the shores of
the unknown land that is now called Australia. A disease like influenza that is now
non fatal in the modern era was deadly back in the day, even to the Europeans who
had the more advanced technology at the time. Although the indigenous were fairly

Between the years 1790 and 1810, many clans of the Eora tribe located in Sydney
started a rebellion against the English colonisers. Led by Pemulwuy of the Bidjigal
clan, the indigenous people fought to take back what was rightfully theirs. In
1790, Pemulwuy killed a man who he believed was responsible for the
mistreatment of the indigenous people, Governor Philip s Gamekeeper. In
retaliation to this, Philip ordered his men to capture or kill some people from
Pemulwuy s tribe. Philip s soldiers never found Pemulwuy or any of the resistance
group during his reign as Governor; although Pemulwuy got captured at Parramatta
in 1797, shortly after he escaped and continued leading his people. But
unfortunately in 1802, Pemulwuy got shot by two settlers and his head was sent to
the Governor King. Following this, events such as the 1834 Battle of Pinjarra in
Western Australia, the 1838 Myall Creek Massacre in New South Wales and the
1843 Warrigal Creek Massacre in Victoria are examples of how bad the conflict
between the two were. There were massacres that were committed by both the settlers
and the indigenous people in most parts of the country; and since the Europeans had
more advanced weapons there was a much more dramatic decrease in deaths for the

A middle school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about her students on Face Book (Norwalk, 2010). A woman was fired after criticizing her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook, 2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the fat paycheck against the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Entire sites have been dedicated to helping employees build their personal brands without conflicting with their company brand(Schawbel, 2009). However, the issue of employee s personal branding will grow in the minds of middle management as their private and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments will overlook small statements against organizations because in the future most everyone will have at least made one mistake (2010). Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the individual company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional level strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow employees to communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and talent in their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the mission statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities, threats, and environment). Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have to take on a work life that is never ending, with more responsibilities. In implementing

Ysleta Mission for Christianizing the Tigua Indians Ysleta Mission Ysleta, Texas Mission Corpus Christi de la Ysleta, the first mission in Texas, was established by Antonio de OtermГn and Fray Francisco de Ayeta in 1682 and was maintained by Franciscans for christianizing the Tigua Indians. The Tigua came as refugees and captives with the former Governor of New Mexico, Antonio de OtermГn on his retreat to the El Paso area after his unsuccessful attempt to recover New Mexico in the winter of 1681 82 during the Pueblo Revolt. La MisiГіn de la Ysleta del Sur, consecrated in 1682, was built by the Tigua (Tewa, Tiwa) speaking peoples originally from Isleta and Sandia Pueblos in New Mexico. The mission was located east of present day El Paso. • 7. Ms 13 Gang MARA SAVATRUCHA (MS13) The Civil War in the early 1980s in El Salvador cost the lives of about 100,000 people. Besides, two million people are reported to have immigrated to the United States, due to the uncertain political and social conditions there. A big chunk of the refugees arrived and settled in the Rampart area of Los Angeles. They needed low cost housing and employment. That area was already afflicted with gangs and crimes. For the local population of Mexican Americans, this was the most unwelcome development. The combustible youth immigrants from Salvador took the problem of their survival in response to the victimization at the hands of local gangs, as a serious challenge and formed a new gang by name Mara Salvatrucha,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The MS 13 gang has cliques, or factions, located throughout the United States and is unique in that it retains is ties to its El Salvador counterparts. With cliques in Washington DC, Oregon, Alaska, Arkansas, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and several other South American countries, the MS 13 gang is truly international and on the verge of becoming the first gang to be categorized as an organized crime entity. (MS13 Gang....)The strength of the gang members is 36,000 in Honduras. The age of the members is normally between 11 to 40 years. Initially started as a defensive organization to protect El Salvadorian immigrants from the cruelty of LA gangs, the gang soon began targeting the members of the Salvadorian community as well. Criminality became a way of life for the M 13 gang members, with no holds barred. It soon turned out to be business of profiteering, and it expanded rapidly across the United States. By the 1990s, its network spread like the octopus growing in all directions, and its membership had reached the East Coast. Initially they were not well organized. In the early 2000s, the organizational pattern had changed. The leadership of these newly organized units emanated from faraway places like California and El Salvador. Cells began to sprout all over the country. In Texas and the Rio
  • 8. Becoming A Dancer The life of a dancer In 1938 Jerome Robbins stated that the dance industry is plagued with difficulties after his poor experiences with the Dance Centre, linking to this I will be discussing whether these difficulties have been addressed or if they are still prominent in the life of a dancer today. To do this I will be comparing the lifestyles of performers from a range of different styles, to see what boundaries they face and how they differentiate to one another. To have the life of a dancer it is important to become established in the industry, after looking at case studies from the Royal Ballet I have discovered a correlation, displaying that a dancer is to start at the bottom and then needs to get noticed to progress. A good representative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However if we go back to the statement above suggesting that jobs are based on a person s reputation, my concern is would they risk speaking out if they are being over worked or paid inadequately. I would not commit to a solely performance based carrier in dance as it would give me little financial stability, the career project supports this by stating only a small percentage of dancers can actually find steady work in this area . This is dependent on the type of contract the dancer was given as a long term contracts offers stability for a longer time period, however to achieve this a dancer must secure a position in dance companies such as The Royal Ballet or motion house and short term contracts are more a accessible. I feel that to live the life of a dancer the vital thing to have determination to battle many of the obstacles they will be facing, as it is clear that dance is in a low ranked compared to other art forms as a professional dancer falls into the category of a highly skilled, sought after employee in a high risk profession but yet is still not paid as much as an actor who has a stunt double to perform any parts deemed dangerous .Despite these setbacks a dancer should always remember why they got into dance in the first place and let that be their momentum to push them further in their
  • 9. Internship Reflection The internship that I acquired this summer was at Palisades Medical hospital in the physical rehabilitation center. I have volunteered in many other physical therapy facilities, but this internship was the best I ever had. The previous facilities that I volunteered at were private practices I wanted to change the environment so I decided to volunteer in the hospital. During my internship, I was exposed to new concepts within physical therapy, which lead me to a new understanding about the musculoskeletal system. I had the pleasure of shadowing Doctor Kimberly DuPree she exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to help restore a patient s mobility. The essential courses that I have taken at Saint Peters University such as Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology prepared me for this opportunity. I would observe most of her evaluations for educational purposes and to translate for her because most of the patients were Hispanic. Throughout her evaluations, I saw that she would go beyond what was written on the prescription and treat other areas that may have caused the primary symptom. During my time of volunteering, Doctor Kimberly mostly dealt with patients with lower extremity complications specifically patients suffering from lower back pain and with these patients she would conduct a number of tests that helped determine the source of the problem. In all her assessments concerning patients with lower back pain she would test for signs of a pelvic tilt. The reason why

  • 11. Displacement and Don Juan Essay Displacement and Don Juan Unlike the fitfully epic Don Juan , I d like to begin in medias res , with the anger of Lord Byron. We join him thick in the struggle with a central concern of DJ s composition: the perils of transmission: Pray when I send you a parcel or packet do acknowledge it I care nothing about my letters or your answers I only want to know, when I have taken trouble about a thing that it has arrived. By the time he fired off those impatient words to his publisher John Murray in 1821, Byron had been living abroad and publishing overseas for five years. They were years marked by drastic shifts of tone in his writing from earnestness to playfulness in his poetry, and quite the reverse trajectory in correspondence ... When Byron left England for good in 1816, and took up Childe Harold once again, he still didn t trust the post; instead, he found close friends who were headed from Italy to London friends who had inspired or supplemented Byron s work, such as Percy Shelley and John Cam Hobhouse to carry Childe Harold back to Murray. The transmission of DJ s first two cantos went along similarly improvised, inside lines with the distinction that the bearer of this new cargo of poesy was a only a minor acquaintance of Byron s, the roving Lord Lauderdale, who had no personal link to the lines he carried. The reader of Byron s letters of November 1818 finds many references to Lauderdale wending his way slowly towards London with verse Byron knew would make a big impact. Yet when he delivered DJ, Lauderdale also carried along with it unflattering gossip about Byron s Venetian dissipation. It was a marred delivery, with Lauderdale proving to be, Byron later wrote, a damned old Ladro porco fottuto, a son of a Bitch for all his laced Coat. The personal courier meant a compromise of authority. Byron sent the remainder of DJ to London via the impersonal mechanism of the post. That method of delivery, of course, offered its own hazards. The reestablishment of postal routs directly after the continental wars had to seem tenuous,

The Pros And Cons Of Internet Addiction Within our modern world, the notion that human beings are distancing themselves farther and farther from inter personal communication cannot be closer to the truth. In today s world, people utilize technology to make things easier, and to better understand the world surrounding the individuals. What ever happened to the relationship between a single personand their peers when knowledge came to be a defining factor? In this research paper, it will be discussing what an addiction to this technology does to a person. It will be investigating the differences and comparisons between two forms of an internet addiction: Cybersex and porn, and a dependency on video games. It will also be considering what these two addictions do and how they affect the lives of both single people, and parents who have adopted responsibilities within their households by declaring themselves part of a family unit. Summary Internet addiction is a new age phenomenon that not all people active in the modern world fully understand. To many, it is simply playing on the computer too much , however, those same people do not even realize that they are part of the phenomenon. It has been stated by many scientists in multiple studies that we, as a generation in the twenty first century, will have back problems by the time people are in our late years. This is due to the invention and adaptation of the smart phone. Everyone has a device such as this, and spend most of their day on it in some way or another.

This occurrence has been used countless times throughout history to commemorate the passing of a loved one, this makes it difficult to produce a piece of poetrythat discussed death in a way it has not been discussed before. In The New Oxford Book of Irish Verse poem 67 which will be referred to as The blackbird calls in grief , poem 108 which will be referred to as There are three ways to await death , and All That is Left...by Michael Hartnett discuss this taboo topic in new and interesting ways. These poems are distinct because of the way that the author represents death. These poems are related and similar while being vastly different. The blackbird calls in grief is an anonymously written poem from the twelfth century. The narrator of the poem laments the story of the death of loved ones. In the poem, the narrator laments to a blackbird and mourns the passing of both their families. The bird is personified by the narrator. In this poem, the death is of two families, the birds, and the mans. The harm now happened to him/ not long since happened to me (Kinsella 85). An analogy is created equating the loss of the two families and the injustice of the loss. The seventh stanza questions God, O You who made the world, / Your bias is hard to bear:/ friends all around me are spared, / their woman and young survive (Kinsella

In the film Metropolis, Fritz Lang uses film techniques and specific genre devices to communicate to the audience the ideas and concepts featured in Metropolis. Lang uses elements from both Science Fiction and Dystopian film genres, as well as elements of German Expressionism to warn future generations about the dangers of technology and science, human ambition and industrialisation. The science fiction genre typically uses a futuristic setting, feature characters that try to challenge or test the morals and boundaries of human ambition and science, has technology that is incongruous with the time period of release and has a new political and societal structure. The futuristic setting used in Metropolis is based upon New York City, which Lang visited before making the film, the large skyscrapers represent man s ambition and are symbolic of the Tower of Babel, from the Old Testament, which is a story about ambition and rebellion. It is through these motif and techniques that Lang expresses his concerns for the future. Elements such as the use of chiaroscuro, use of reflective surfaces, anthropomorphism and art deco elements (seen in the long shots of the city) are all example of German Expressionism. The use of chiaroscuro in the establishing shot of the city as well as the low key lighting created long, deep shadows being cast across the city scape, which highlighted the grandness of the buildings and also brings to attention the underlying message about ambition. The Robot Maria is an example of anthropomorphism, by giving Maria s human like characteristics to the robot, Rotwang s characterisation is also another science fiction element because of the use of futuristic technology and he also tries to overstep ethical boundaries in creating the Robot Maria. Lang used all of these elements in order to convey his very clear message about the dangers that technological

Provided the fact that proposals are the gateway to grant funding, there are a few keys to ensuring that an organization submits a successful proposal. The first step is to document an unmet community need that the grant seeker is in a position to address (Neitzey, 2016). By demonstrating that a problem exists, organizations are more likely to explain who will benefit should the project be funded. Furthermore, by highlighting the problem, the organization is more capable of articulating the overall impact the project will have on those who are negatively impacted by the lack of a project addressing the problem. The second step is to demonstrate a clear plan for the program (Neitzey, 2016). Once developed, the plan successfully articulates the organization s ability to identify themselves as a unique, yet impactful organization. Essentially, the plan is to show that the organization has the necessary resources to successfully end or minimize the problem discussed earlier in the proposal. The third step is to thoroughly research funders, competitors, and potential partners (Neitzey, 2016). Perhaps this is the most important step, due to the fact that without the funding there will still be a need in the community. However, when organizations are seeking funding, they should rely on funding that align with their mission. By doing so, they are not mission drifting, and they are applying for funds

I believe students will value what they are learning if they believe what they re learning is relevant. Relevance is important to teaching and learning because it is directly related to student engagement and motivation (Frymier Schulman, 1995; Martin Dowson, 2009). Marsh (2008), states a positive classroom environment provides a sense of security, community, belonging and identity (Marsh, 2008). Based on my experience as a practicing teacher, I have found establishing clear expectations within the classroom assist in maintaining control and discipline, to create a safe learning environment (Fatt Hee, 1996). I believe within all classrooms, students diversity should be valued. This creates a discrimination free environment and ensures students feel safe and included (Philips, 2010). According to Stanford Parkay (2007) students are more engaged in class when learning experiences are satisfying, challenging and friendly. There is no one size fits all teaching strategy for all students. Therefore teachers must use a variety of teaching strategies to cater for a variety of different learners (Gill, 2013). It is important for teachers to regularly evaluate their practices and whether they are meeting the learning needs of all students (Zeichner Liston, 1987). Self evaluation can assist teachers to improve the educational experiences provided for students and assist in identifying the professional education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well (Schwartz, n.d.). He was only there to observe his friend Barabbas a dangerous Zealot but was caught up in the commotion when Roman officers began beating and capturing the demonstrators. Thus he came to be arrested, and is waiting anxiously in his cell when he is abruptly taken out by guards and brought to an interrogation room. They discuss various problems relating to the submission of the Jews to the Romans, and the events that have thus been brought on by having Herodian kings and Roman officials ruling their land. It is through this interrogation that the readers get to familiarize themselves with a brief historical background, before continuing to read about Andreas adventure. It is also through this period of questioning, that the reader gets to know more about Andreas himself.
