element of negligence. The two key concepts of proximate cause are that the
tortfeasor s conduct was the closest in to proximity to the damages and that there
was no superseding causes that could cancel out the tortfeasor s liability. In
determining proximate cause, courts use foreseeability in defining the scope of
risk. Given the statistics of an average of 1,750 injuries per year, the commissioner

In Table 6 above, results show Pressure to Publish to have a significant and positive
relationship with that of Emotional Exhaustion (r = 0.36, p 0.01) indicating that
academics who reported higher feelings of being under pressure to publish

Frankenstein: warning of the dangers of science or suggestion that the human quest
for knowledge is a noble undertaking? Human societies have come a long way from
the time of hunting and gathering. Self sufficient and possessing high capacity for
questioning what systems are currently in place, and the astonishingly unique ability
to discover solutions for problems; humankind is truly one of a kind. This distinctive
quality grants humanity the ability to innovate, improve on what already exists, and
create completely new things. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein the main character
Victor Frankenstein does just that, by creating his monster. Delving into the pages of
Frankenstein one can discover many underlying themes such as science and morality,
true monstrosity, and human thirst for discovery. Over the years many have posed
the question of whether Mary Shelley, in writing her novel, attempted to provide a
warning for future generations of the dangers pushing the confines of science, or
wanted to provide an undertone that the pursuit of knowledge is a noble
undertaking. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein she attempts to make her audience think
