The Absurd, By Camus
The philosophy of the Absurd is Camus answer to the question of life and whether it is worth
living. In the opening line of The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus states that there is One truly serious
philosophical problem, and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to
answering the fundamental question of philosophy. (495) Absurdismbegins by questioning the
purpose of life and the response, or lack of response from the indifferent silence of the universe. It
reveals the void one might encounter in the search for the meaning of life. (Seniuk 162) Absurdism
is the belief that human life is meaningless, and that it is up to the individual to decide how they
will react to this idea; to find their own meaning or lack of.
Camus suggests that Suicide offers the most basic way out of absurdity. If life has no meaning,
then the only choice would be suicide. Death would then negate any and all human aspiration and
achievements an individual would have. (Baltzer Jaray 12) Though in order not to exaggerate this,
Camus states that In a man s attachment to life there is something stronger than all the ills in the
world. (499) And that We get into the habit of living before acquiring the habit of thinking. (499)
Subsequently Camus gives us another option to against suicide, recovery. When an individual
decides that life is worth living one chooses to live in the face of the Absurd as absurd and
positively move forward with acceptance. (Francev 32)

The Scarlet Letter is a book full of suffering and shame that causes multiple characters to endure
many different types of pain. There are many horrible aches that inflict the main characters in their
battles between their hearts and their minds. Although there are several characters who suffer
throughout the course of the book, there is one character that one might not consider who endures
significantly more misfortune than any other character. The purpose of this paper is to prove that
Roger Chillingworth suffers the most throughout the course of The Scarlet Letter through physical

modern understanding of these references, Othello would most likely be portrayed as an African on
modern stage or film.

A few years ago, my Mom and I went to a fall exotic animal auction, which took place over by
Pierz. It was mid October so the mornings had a bite to them and the days were cool. We woke
up at 6:00 in the morning so we could get our rabbits, which we were bringing to the auction to
sell, settled in their cages. We had filled each cage with haythe night before so they would be
warm for the ride there and for the time they d be stuck sitting in their cages. After we loaded
them up, we headed to the auction. Once we arrived at the auction, we brought the bunnies over
to the people who tagged their cages and brought them out to the barn to be stacked up next to
other cages. The other cages were filled with exotic birds and some other rabbits. In some of the

alpacas, buffalo, and llamas. We always arrive early, so people are still coming in with animals
