Why Is Sports Good Or Bad For Kids
Schools often provide students with the freedom of choosing the sport they want to play.
Although, it is debated often if sports are good or bad for kids, they unfortunately are bad. This is
because of the overwhelming injuries, pressure and academics, and poor effort in school, although
some will say it brings them closer to school. The first reason sports are bad is injuries. When you
play sports, you have a very big possibility of getting hurt. Primary Investigator, R. Dawn Comstock
found that there were about 517,000 high schoollevel football injuries between 2005 and 2006. It
is also said by the Columbus dispatch that playing sports leaves kids more susceptible to injury. The
number of concussions in kids 14 19 had jumped from 7,000

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Theme Essay
In Sir Gawain the Green Knight, Gawain undergoes several different changes in his ideas as well
as his attitudes. By ultimately sacrificing himself and accepting the challenge of taking on the
Green Knight, Gawain undergoes a certain quest in which he will head back to the Knights of the
Round Table to explain not only his story, but the ideas that the Green Knight has taught as well.
Throughout the story, the reader is able to gain clues as to why Gawaindecided to sacrifice himself
and undergo a quest to gain self knowledge. In Sir Gawain The Green Knight, Gawain follows a
quest, receives a challenge, goes out on a journey to face that challenge, and then reports back to
the Knights at the Round Table to on his quest. The whole purpose of taking on a quest is
ultimately to gain self knowledge. Gawain took on the challenge of the Green Knight so he could
uphold his code of chivalry. And even more important is that a knight is never supposed to let his
king fight. The knight is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance, Gawain is numerously tempted and tricked on his quest to defeat the Green
Knight. To begin, the young queen attempts to flirt with him while the host hunts deer. Then, she
tempts him again and gives him two kisses. At this point, Gawain manages to sidestep her and
instead gives the kisses to the king. On the third visit with the queen, Gawain is then tricked. The
queen hands him the green girdle and claimed to him it would make him invincible. The book
exemplifies this by stating As long as he keeps the girdle looped around him, No man under
heaven can hurt him. Yet, the problem is that Gawain doesn t tell the king that he received the
green girdle from the Queen, and at this point he breaks his code of chivalry. In the book, it states
that And to keep it hidden from her lord. And he said he would. (line #224 225) The reader now
understands that Gawain is not perfect, and that he too has

The New Rules Of A Project Manager Essay
Meredith (2006) mentioned that selecting a project manager is one of the two most important
decision concerning the project. He mentioned the project manager should have credibility and
sensitivity. However, in other books mentioned that PM not only should have credibility and
sensitivity but also vision, courage, integrity, and discipline Visioner John P. Kotter described a
project without vision is a region that is unknown which is a stretch of unmapped future. In his
book The New Rules: How to Succeed in Today s Post Corporate World , he mentioned that the
main destruction is there is no any vision from PM. Benis and Nanus, (1997: 19) defines vision
as: Something that articulates a view of a realistic, credible, attracttive future for the organization, a
condition that is better in some important ways than what now exists Furthermore becah (1993)
said that the vision is a general formulation of the desired state at the end of the plan period to
achieve the goals that may be achieved within a certain period. Visionary leader is a leader whose
in running the organization s activities emphasize the vision that has been set together from
planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating as a manifestation of the organization. A PM
must be visionary because it can foster the commitment of its employees. One easy way to
visualize the vision is by imagining what we want to achieve an organization in the future. PMs
who are on a mission with his team will strive in

Mk4 Banshee Case Study
Ominously, CMMG s Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the
13Th. But the only thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker s wicked
new guns are the hoops shooters will have to go through to put most in their safe.
Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated registration, tax, stamps, the whole
nine yards. That s the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short barreled rifle world. The
company has taken some mercy on the hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says
frog, releasing complementary AR pistols in the line s four calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample
reasons to contemplate doing the Fed s paper dance; by all accounts, the backpack big carbines are
sound as oak joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5 pound mark,
while the rifle caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those
who shoot magnum revolvers know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft with the benefit of a
stock (or brace).
CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the
shortest barrel the company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol calibers that snaps the tape
at a nimble 5 inches, while the Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees
should prove not only portable but also as fast handling as they come particularly in a close
quarters application.
The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of
the BANSHEE sports the company s new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate
and safety selector. They come standard with a Cerakote finish, an RML M LOK Hand Guard and
a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come with a Tailhook Mod 2

Caribbean Heroes And Villains Research Paper
Someone who robs or commits illegal violence at sea or on the shores of the sea is, by definition,
a pirate. Piracy in the Age of Sails has set an image for what a pirate truly is. The collective
perception of a pirate of old makes fondness for the modern pirate virtually unheard of, as they have
become an excellent subject for entertainment and bring joy to many with modern interpretations of
adventures undertaken by the buccaneers. Pirates have become a staple in the market, having
multiple brands and products named and based on them, such as movies, liquors, video games, and
music. Piracybegan rising in the 17th century in the Caribbeanas a result of it becoming a booming
trade center for European and rising colonial powers. Even with the Europeans having a stake in
that area there was great difficulty in establishing peace. Keeping peace on the open seas is not
easy compared to in a city, chasing a massive ship ready to participate in a war on the open seas
is not the same a chasing a car through the streets of a city. People became attracted to the idea of
becoming a pirate for the adventure on the high seas and the possibility of establishing wealth.
Since piracy was not quickly quelled in the Caribbean entire cities were established by the
buccaneers to further cement their presence, increasing the chances of their new way of... Show

Why Did Napsster Use P2P Technology
The Napster web site made file swapping over the Internet available via the software necessary
for the Peer to Peer (P2P) file transfer to work. P2P is software that when downloaded onto
someone s computer, enables that person to access another person s computer to find and copy
certain files that the software is designed to recognize. It was used primarily for copying MP3files,
as a result avoiding the need to actually purchase music on CD or some other format.
The popularity of Napster happened quickly with 15 million registered users in less than one year,
according to company sources. Napster had the attention of the Record Industry Association of
America (RIAA), and their concerns of Copyright infringement. About a year after its launch, it
was sued by the RIAA, which represented major recording companies such as Universal Music,
BMG, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group. They claimed that by allowing users to swap free
music recordings, Napster s service violated Copyright laws. Eventually, the judge ruled against
Napster forcing them to shut down operations and liquidate its assets [3].
Napster used P2P technology and the use of a central database that held registered users
information. The database contained information on the files they were sharing, their log in details
and other information. The database made it easy for users to find and download a specific piece
of music.
It was the database that caused the courts to rule against Napster, not the

The Evolution of an Emotion to Which I Know as Anger
Born with a tabula rasa, or blank slate, emotions are experienced and learned from birth to old age.
In my case I had found a consistent and hugely developed emotion had been anger, from first
expressing and understanding the emotion, I learned much about it through adolescents and its
many combining purposes. Through the limbic system we are more likely to remember things that
are emotional, the hippocampus function being verbal memory and the amygdala being the
emotional memories center, and with the help of intersubjectivity to learn and understand emotions
we can begin to understand how anger was a major emotion to have developed memories and hold

When I was a around 3 to 4 years of age I would get angered by not being able to tie my shoes my
parents would explain I would not have to be angered by not being able to tie my shoes but to
relax and try again or ask for help. This was one way my parents had discouraged the
development of my emotion for anger. Through theory of mind, understanding others have minds
as well and can also experience emotions and their own thoughts helped my emotion of anger to
develop better understanding sheeting others agreed and making the cognitive connections to my
own anger. Around age 3 or 4 I had learned to defuse my anger and not show it because my
parents discouraged me from being angry, this is representative of masking emotions hiding my
anger to learning how to socialize. They way my parents had been brought up through their culture
and my upbringing had created early learned display rules, culturally accepted rules for displaying

The Photography Of Producing Art
Producing art has been a past time of mine since childhood. Through a strange turn of fate, a
camera found a way into my hands and it awakened me to a whole new creative universe that I am
still exploring. Seeing inspiration everywhere I began to keep a visual diary concerned with
reminiscing my memories, and creative references. My children became my photographymodels as
well. On our outings I would take pictures of them and the scenery. Snapshots of their childhood
and our adventures mean more to me than most anything. Capturing them laughing and happy
made me feel amazing and it was magical laughter that showed up in the photo. My camerahas let
me be an observer in the tapestry of life and helped develop my art of living. Photography gave me
my childlike faith and passion back.
Immersing myself in the technicalities of photographic composition I became convinced that
everyone is beautiful and beautifully flawed. Photography allows me to create masterpieces painted
with light that reflect inspirational artists. The experts who have influenced my work are Picasso,
Ansel Adams, Salvadore Dali, Vivian Maier, Jerry Ueslmann, Zemotion and Edward C. Curtis .
They understood the importance of documenting moments in time and of perfecting their art. My
tools are both digital camera coupled with Photoshop, LightRoom, and an analog 35mm camera.
Receiving an opportunity to instruct the darkroom and advanced studio photography led to me
spending hours in the darkroom.

First, when my father died it affected me a lot because I thought I was going to die of hunger due
to there was no food and I was too young to hunt. Another fact that affected me was when Native
Americans capture me and my mom. I learned humans were powerful and also there I lost my
mother. One of the Native Americans took her and I didnВґt see her again until we gathered
together but she didn t recognize me, this made me think that I was all alone. When Gray

he was a bad master and he demonstrated it by making me fight against dogs for money.
Something that affected me in a good way was when my loved master Weedon Scoot saved me

13th Century American Renaissance Humanism
While the 12th and 13th centuries were periods of expansion in economic, social, intellectual,
and religious fronts, the 14th and 15th century were marked by almost uninterrupted warfare,
plague, and depression. However, the one and only area of life that did not diminish at all was
culture. To the contrary, cultural life (especially writing) did not slow down. It began expanding
in the 11th century and never stopped, even though the troubled religious and economic scenario
of the 1500s. During this time a poet by the name of Petrarch wrote many letters where he would
communicate with a long dead Roman philosopher and friend Cicero. In these letters, Cicero
would write back to him . Petrarch was careful enough to maintain Cicero s own style of writing
whenever it was Cicero s turn to write , almost in an attempt to revive the Greek style of thinking.
For this reason, Petrarch is considered being at the forefront of Renaissancehumanism. Renaissance
humanism was an intellectual movement based on the study of the Classical literary works of
Greece and Rome (Spielvogel 344). This period was a blooming time in art and thought that took

The House On Mango Street Theme Analysis
What does it mean when you need to fulfill a dream? Every person may have a different view
towards the answer to this question. Personally, I believe this means your strong impulse to follow
and conquer what you feel most passionate about. In the novel, The House on Mango Street, by
Sandra Cisneros ,the main character Esperanza shares her journey through life and her longing
desire to leave the house she lives on Mango Street forever. Throughout the novelthere are multiple
themes that transpire during Esperanza s life. Although each theme shows relevance, I conclude the
most compelling theme in the novel and the most apparent in today s society is the need to fulfill a
dream.

But the house on Mango street is not the way they told at all. .When the reality of her parents
expectations didn t go the way hoped it created the initial reason for Esperanza s dream about
leaving Mango Street . If their house wasn t that much of a downgrade to what they have wanted

Hip Hop Dichotomy Essay
Tracing the Rap/Hip Hop Dichotomy in Popular and Underground Music Rap music has
experienced a radical increase in popularity in the last five years. In the year 2000, rap became
the second best selling genre in music, capturing 12.9 percent of the year s $14.3 billion in total
record sales ( Rap/Hip Hop Sc 1). Though rap is no stranger to criticism, that criticism has increased
in both quantity and vociferousness at about the same rate as the number of rap albums climbing
the charts. And the growing evidence that, apparently, in order to achieve commercial success, each
rap album must be more negative and offensive than the last does not help to address these
criticisms. Unfortunately, the critics miss most of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The genre s performers and audience were predominantly black in its early phases, though there
was a significant Latino minority (Smitherman Sc 1), and it originated as the response of these
marginalized groups to the commercial music of the period. Afrika Bambaataa, one of hip hop s
founders and leader of the Zulu Nation (a hip hop clique), once said, The Bronx wasn t into
radio music no more....Hip hop was against the disco that was being played on the radio (Stern
412). The hip hop community also developed responses to other aspects of disco culture:
Athletic gear in place of leisure suits and breakdancing in place of disco dancing. Graffiti art also
became intertwined with hip hop early on, and the music became a celebration of the three art
forms that comprise hip hop culture graffiti, break dancing, and the music itself (Smitherman Sc
1, Costello 22). The mid 1980 s saw the rise to marginal mainstream popularity of rap groups like
Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, who drew criticism for their relaxed treatment of sex, violence
and, in the case of the Beastie Boys, drugs. Indeed they had, if not lost sight of the music s original
aims completely, at least added these seemingly incongruous elements to it. Then, in 1989, hip hop

Comparing The Two Sport Societies
Comparison Of the Two Sport Societies Comparing these two sports societies may have seemed
to be a difficult task before reading the descriptions of each. After reading and researching, it is
very clear to me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different
sports. In each nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their
given sport. Even though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the
American society, there is still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about
the societies that is comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport.

Essay on The Lives of Athenian Women
Women in classical Athens could not have had an extremely enjoyable experience, if we rely on
literary sources concerning the roles of women within the Greek polis. The so called Athenian
democracy only benefited a fraction of the entire population. At least half of this population was
female, yet women seem to have had very little influence and few official civic rights. `The position
of women...is a subject which has provoked much controversy.
(Lacey: 1968, 151).
Studies concerning the lives of women in classical Athens have sparked much controversy because,
despite the apparent fascination with femininity manifested in art and drama, we have no evidence

In Sarah B. Pomeroy s influential monograph, Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves: Women in
Classical Antiquity (1976), it is pointed out that in the past, when scholars have considered the
quality of life for women in classical Athens, they have often subjectively selected the type of
evidence to use for their argument. She argues that `optimists, who are of the opinion that women
enjoyed a comparatively liberated lifestyle, focus upon the prominent role that women play
within art and drama. `Pessismists, on the other hand, base their ideas upon Athenian laws and
the writings of orators and moralists (Pomeroy: 1976; Just: 1989). The evidence that we have
available regarding women `relate to different levels of reality (Humphreys: 1983; Just: 1989),
therefore the sources pertain to different aspects of women s lives and need to be pieced together
to provide a clear picture.
One such `optimistic scholar is A.M. Gomme (1925), who referred to distinctive female characters
such as Medea, Clytemnestra, Antigone and Electra in Greek tragedy. Gomme argued that tragedy
showed Athenian women as having the freedom to come and go as they pleased. He points out that
even the timid, submissive Ismene is content to wander the streets of Thebes with her sister

In unit four grits and grandeur, we studied poems and excerpts that widely revolved around

the most was a white heron by Sarah Orne Jewett because of her loyalty to the animals and the

The Characters Of Master Eps By Edwin Epp
Out of all Northup s masters, Master Epps has to be the worse. He s a cruel, rude, selfish man
who cares for no one but himself. Although others may say the contrary, I believe making good
first expressions is always important, and Edwin Epps made a horrible first impression. The second
Northup arrived, Master Epps already had him performing difficult tasks around the plantation.
These jobs can range from picking cotton on a blistering hot day to carrying heavy metals back

the correct thing to do, he tends to take it to an extreme level. He beats them and strangles them

Candy Chromatography Research Paper
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Background of study
Candy coated sweets come in different colors and sometimes even vary in flavor in association
with the colors. These colors provide a creative display for children to easily get attracted to the
particular treat, leaving those tinted marks on their mouths and a happy, satisfied grin on their faces.
The reason for conducting the research is to know how the colors of our favorite candy coated
sugary rewards came to be and that method of knowing is what we call Candy Crhomatography .
Chromatography by definition according to Webster s dictionary means a method for separating the
constituents of a solution (gas or liquid) by exploiting the different bonding properties of different
molecules . In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are terms brought about like the capillary action which pertains to the capillary property of
water in reaction to the substance. There are also terms like Retention factor value meaning the

President Trump s Argument Analysis
Furthermore, it seems like President Trump s infamous use of social media is not the only thing
influencing the country. According to Jessica Mudditt s article, Statute becomes lightning rod for
Australian nationalists, Trump s take on politics has brought hope and motivation into the
Australian nationalist party, the Party For Freedom. This right wing group focuses primarily on the
opposition of immigration and multiculturalism (Mudditt). They also have widely rejected Islam, as
the religion itself has been seen as connection to terrorist attacks as seen with the hostage situation
in Sydney back in 2014. The Party for Freedom has even gone to the extent of adapting President

What Was The Erie Canal
How the Erie Canal Opened the Door to the Western Frontier After the American Revolution,
people s thoughts turned to the American West. But while the thought of going west was in a lot
of people s minds, so were thoughts of the restrictions making the move almost impossible. The
trip to the west was filled with mountains, forests, rivers and even a few waterfalls. How was this
transportation of people and goods to take place?
Before the Transcontinental Railway, interstate highways and airplanes changed the shape of our
country, there was the New York State Erie Canalsystem. Although the idea of a canal was
perceived in the late 1700 s, it wasn t until the 1790 s that locks and canals on the Mohawk River
allowed for boat travel from Schenectady to Oswego and to Seneca Lake in the Finger lakes region
of New York. One canal of great significance was the Erie Canal.... Show more content on

and perseverance of Clinton, the Erie Canal became a successful engineering project. New York s
terrain was complex, but the canal, four feet deep and forty feet wide, traversed through fields,
forests and cliffs and included eighty three locks. These locks were structures used to equalize

The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration on Catalase...
Introduction
H2O2 is commonly known as hydrogen peroxide and it is a strong oxidizer and a naturally
produced compound in humans as a by product of oxidative metabolism. Because of this, humans
also produce the enzyme catalase peroxidases in order to convert small amounts of H2O2 into
oxygen and water. It uses the following chemical formula:
2H_2 O_2в†’O_2+гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O
This process is called decomposition as two hydrogen peroxide molecules are broken down into
oxygen and two water molecules.
Catalase is an important enzyme that protects cells from oxidative damage, which hydrogen
peroxide can cause. It is an incredibly efficient enzyme where one catalase molecule can convert
millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules each second.
This experiment looked at how substrate concentration can affect enzyme activity. In this case the
substrate was hydrogen peroxide and the enzyme was catalase. Pieces of meat providing the
catalase were added to increasing concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in order to measure the
effect of hydrogen peroxide concentrations on the enzyme s activity. The variable measured was
oxygen produced, as water would be too difficult to measure with basic equipment.
Research Question
What is the effect of the concentration of a hydrogen peroxide solution on catalase activity?
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that catalase activity will increase exponentially with higher concentrations of
hydrogen peroxide until all catalase active sites are filled, in which case the

Title I almost fell out of the plane s window. As the plane made its way around for landing, the
rigid and uneven surface of Arizona came into view. There was almost nothing to see besides the
desert itself. Excitement fluttered through my body as the plane landed, and people exited the
plane. Annoyance, problems, and stress were forgotten on the plane when we finally walked out
into the glistening sun. Used to the rude and impatient crowd in Chicago, my family and I
anticipated to be at the airport for at least an hour, examining luggage after luggage until ours
were found. It took us 15 minutes at most. Our next mission was to find a rental car agency. A
few passengers from the flight realized we were a bit confused and that it was our first time in
Arizona; one guided us over to a shuttle that would take us to an agency. After what felt like 5
minutes, the Jeep Wrangler rolled up, with my dad in the driver s seat and a smirk on his face....

Evil And Evil In East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
Everyone possess those evil and selfish actions, the biggest are maybe closing the mouth, ears,
and eyes to what is going around, and instead stay self preserved. Is the world an image of how
sinful one can be? Or does it lay within your actions. In the novel East of Eden by John
Steinbeck, Cal pursues to understand and live his life with his loved brother Aaron, dad Adam,
missing whore mom Kate, and his trustful servant Lee. He lives in a life where his actions are
defined from his ancestors, and allows his descents to drown out his uniqueness. Lee s pure
perspective of humanity along with his parental care, and companionship with Cal allow him to
educate Cal about the choice between good and evil. The decision of every human being not only
shows the evilor good of a person or the world, but will determine the flourish or destruction of
the world and humanity. Lee s ability to view humanity as an outsider, and be a moral and
spiritual figure for Cal and humanity. After meeting Samuel for the first time, the two discuss their
ethnic background as well as their belonging to the white as Lee answered that to the so called
whites [he] was still a Chinese, but an untrustworthy one; and at the same time [his] Chinese
friends steered clear of [him]. [he]] had to give it up (Steinbeck 164). Throughout the story Lee is
the symbolic figure of God. His inability to be viewed as part of any of his ethnic communities

Essay on Of Conspiracy Theories by Brian Keeley
Brian Keeley s short essay, Of Conspiracy Theories discusses conspiracy theories and their value in
an epistemological context. Keeley defines a conspiracy theory as a proposed explanation of
some historical event (or events) in terms of the significant causal agency of a relatively small
group of persons the conspirators acting in secret (Keeley 1999, pg. 116). Keeley seeks to answer
the question of why conspiracy theories are unwarranted. His interest in the warrant of conspiracy
theories focuses on В¬the unfalsifiability of conspiracy theories and how conspiracy theories are
founded upon an extraordinarily large amount of skepticism. In section III, Keely discusses what a

He explains why UCTs are as popular as they are in modern society, and why people should
nevertheless disregard and approach them with caution. What Keeley refers to as virtues are the
reason for the popularity of UCTs. He gives the virtue of explanatory reach as the first and main
reason for UCTs popularity, which is the account of all knowledge including errant data. This is in
stark contrast to the received theory, which is imperfect by nature. This quality of UCTs is
particularly attractive because it appeals to human rationality by allowing for no loopholes. Keely
argues that errant data alone is not significant enough, and that a theory should never fit all of the
data. This leads into one of the main points, concerning falsifiability and skepticism.
Unfalsifiability is acceptable when the item or person under investigation is not actively trying to
escape from the investigator. Keeley contends that the problem is not the innate unfalsifiability, but
rather the increasing amount of skepticism required. Keely seeks a hole in the concept of
conspiracy theories that accounts for a person s innate sense that belief in a particular conspiracy
theory is not justified. In the case of the natural sciences, falsifiability is acceptable because of the
rigorous protocols in place, and therefore, we are warranted in believing scientific claims.
In section V, Keeley discusses the implication of the popularity of UCTs discussed in

The Global Financial Crisis And The Macro Economy
Introduction
The global financial crisis has attracted considerable attention in recent literature. It is well known
that the true origins of this financial crisis is that the over borrowing of US households, especially
to finance housing. It had serious affected the financial sector and the macro economy. According
to Shiller (2007), the main reason of the sub prime mortgage crisis and the worldwide economic

1.Housing wealth
The housing wealth refers to the market value of all residential capital stock, no matter rented or
owned. It is also an important component of national wealth. In most developed economies,
housing wealth takes up almost half of household wealth. The figure below shows this phenomenal
in the United States. The data selected from 1952 to 2008.
Figure 1: Housing wealth and Non housing wealth in the US
2.Housing wealth GDP
Compare housing wealth and GDP, we can see that housing wealth is larger than GDP. Housing
wealth also fluctuates over time. Figure 2 illustrates the ratio of nominal housing wealth to
nominal GDP in the US. From the figure, we can find that the ratio of housing wealth to GDP
has averaged around 1.5 between 1952 and 2008. However, it has moved dramatically throughout
this period. At the beginning of these periods, it was equal to 1.28; we can see the lowest value
happen in 1962 and in 2005 it reaches the highest value of 2.26. It is at the peak of the recent
housing boom. Figure 2: Ratio of Housing Wealth to GDP

Personal Teaching Beliefs
III.Describe your philosophy and beliefs about teaching and explain how you demonstrate them
in your personal teaching style. As an educator, I firmly believe that all students deserve the
right to learn to their highest potential. Students come to us from a wide range of ethnic,
socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds which creates a very diverse classroom full of
students. Therefore, every student is unique in his or her own respective way. Working with and
learning about each student s life is not only enjoyable, but also helps me become the best
teacher I possibly can be for every student. I feel that each student s individual learning needs
should be addressed. Meeting each students needs is imperative to ensure they desire the ability
to carry knowledge with them and build upon it for the rest of their lives. Based on their
experiences, students enter school with different levels of readiness. It is my responsibility to
embrace my students, cultivate their learning and watch them grow. For example, some students
are early bloomers and strive to reach new goals, while other students may be late bloomers,
needing further time to grow and develop. For students requiring more, I use individualized and
small group activities for re teaching skills. I also use these types of activities to provide
enrichment for students who are ready to advance to the next level. I believe that learning should be
fun. In my classroom, we learn through music, movement,

Alexander The Great Greek Crusader
Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He
established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent
to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek
Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and
replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it
meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able
to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an
issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek
Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege
or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King
could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the
favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed
and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all,
we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry
through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later
actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign

Trail rides are a lot of fun and it is even more so when where you go is beautiful. However, when

go for hikes and walk your dog. The main area and parking is set a little way off the main road,
which makes it quiet. It is a breathtaking area and is great for hikes. However, the horses were
kept in a small and dirty paddock behind the barn. They may just be kept there for the day, but it
was still not enough space for the amount of horses kept there. There was also an abundance
which is understandable at a barn and in the forest, but was still bothersome. The place was
extremely crowded with many people riding and waiting at once. We also had to wait for an
extremely long time. To get a spot you had to show up a half hour beforehand and then about
another half hour for the people to get back, dismount, and then you have to mount. Even with all
this the people in charge seemed to keep a somewhat organized schedule. The service was not the
best, but was not completely unbearable. You were able to call to ask questions, which would be

The Flavored Of Music And Exercise
Concoction of Music and Exercise Music has a greater impact in our lives than we realize.
Music is everywhere we go and is listened to on a daily basis, which affects us in different ways.
Music is incorporated into different aspects of living such as a work environment, sports games,
while studying, in the car, or while doing exercise. Incorporating music into exercise has been
proven to make exercising in any environment more fun, boost one s mood, increasing motivation,
and varying heart rate depending on the tempo of music. Music and exercise increase the brain

to help facilitate one s gaining knowledge of self, others, and the world. The brain grows into two
hemispheres, and music plays a crucial role in the neurological development of a child. From an
early age, music helps naturally develop a child s communication, expression, and cognition (Yoon

both hemispheres than any other activity. The hemispheres of the brain work together when
emotions are stimulated, attention focused, and motivation heightened, which happen when music
is being played; music synchronizes the right and left hemispheres of the brain. When listening to
enjoyable music, electrical activity is seen in brain regions responsible for coordinating movement,

Walter B. Miller s Focal Concern Theory
Focal concerns is a theory focuses on the worries of delinquent behaviors. It was presented by
Walter B. Miller in 1958. It is a pure cultural theory of gang delinquency specialized for the lower
class. As Miller explained in a short article that he called Lower Class Culture as a Generating
Milieu of Gang Delinquency, the lower class contributed to a distinct criminogenic culture.
(Greene, Gabbidon Miller, 2013) This means that the lower class produces criminal acts. He also
explained that his explanation of delinquency is based on those who live in unhappy inner cities
where females are mostly the head of their households, and they operate according focal concerns
due to the fact that they do not have middle class values, good discipline, and role models. Some
focal concerns are defined as trouble, toughness, smartness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are children living in societies that are filled with gangs and peer pressure. When I was
growing up, my mother was a single parent; she was also the head of the house, respectfully. She
had a well paying job, but we stayed in a place that I would consider low class. I witnessed kids
smoking, stealing, and being disrespectful to adults, even their own parents. Since my mother
pretty much raised me and taught me not to give in to things that may cause problems in the
future, I really had nothing to worry about. It is not so much as where I lived, it was how I
lived, and I lived great, giving the circumstances. Sadly, not all children are as fortunate as I was.
The types of programs for this theory should not be voluntary; it should be mandatory. There are a
lot of single mothers living in inner cities with children who are not in tune with their reality and
are hanging around the wrong people just so they can be noticed. It is not fair to any of them.
There should be a programs for the focal concerns theory in which communication is

Thereafter, briefly describe and apply each of the five elements in this model.
2.2.1Threat of New Entrants
New companies entering the marketplace present a significant competitive pressure mainly because
they can threaten the market share of existing companies. Unless the demand of a good or service
is increasing, additional production capacity would only result in lesser revenue for competing
firms. The luxury hotel industry on a global basis shares the characteristics of high capital
requirements and a high proportion of fixed costs to total cost. In addition to physical facilities, a
substantial amount of financial resources is required for construction, furnishing, pre operational
expenses and marketing activities.
It is of good marketing advantage that The Ritz Carlton belong to a chain of hotels to benefit from
brand image or loyalty. The stronger the attachment of buyers to established brands, the harder it is
for a newcomer to break into the marketplace. (John E. Gamble, 2011) Furthermore, the limited
availability of geographical land and hence, suitable locations for a hotel project in Singapore
poses a challenge to new entrants. In conclusion, The Ritz Carlton faces a rather low threat of new

Tolstoy And Lord Of The Flies
As Leo tolstoy, the author of War and Peace, once wrote Here I am alive, and it s not my fault,
so I have to try and get by as best I can without hurting anybody until death takes over. In relation
to The Lord of The Flies the boys on the island try not to hurt anyone until they can no longer take
being civilized, death took over. The Lord of The Flies is a novel by William Golding, in his story a
group of boys fleeing from Britain get deserted on an island due to a plane crash. At first they try
to be civilized, but then the boys started killing each other because they believe there is a beast
among them. Later in the book they divide into two clans, until only two people are left in their

Reflections On Sandbox Time . Results. As A Part Of The
Reflections on Sandbox Time Results As a part of the Professional Development training, we
introduced tangible technologies to the teachers of a university funded preschool. We presented
KIBO, Cubetto, Sphero and Puzzlet to the teachers. While KIBO and Cubetto are screen free
tangible technologies, Sphero and Puzzlet are accompanied by an Ipad. After we introduced the
tangible technologies, we asked eight teachers to ponder the ways of implementing these tangible
technologies to their current projects or their classroom settings. The teachers wrote their ideas of
utilizing those tangible technologies to post its, which were then placed on poster paper and
displayed. Each of the teachers was able to keep the focus of the activities on... Show more content

For instance, the teachers suggested that KIBO could be used to create a route to deliver mail.
Similarly, Cubetto was suggested to use for creating a route for delivery and a map with
pictures could be used and the students could have Cubetto deliver mail to each of the pictures.
The participants additionally suggested to utilize Sphero as well as using the chariot as a way to
transport items from place to place. Their ideas for Puzzlet are focused on an overview of
geography a way to practice following directions and physically acting the directions out. Like the
utilization of the tangible technologies with the Mail and Post Office project, the teachers also
pointed out that the tangible technologies could also be used to solve a labyrinth or a maze.
Another part of Geography that was focused on was the ability Sphero and Cubetto have to move
around. For both tangible technologies, exploration and underwater retrievals were mentioned as
ways to use the tangible technologies to go where the students or people may be unable to
physically go to themselves. These tangible technologies were also thought of as being able to
assist in natural disaster rescues where both could navigate rubble in an area. Math The participants
additionally considered utilizing the motion skill of the tangible technologies on the subject area
Math. For instance, the teachers noted to utilize Sphero and Cubetto follow the outlines of a line,

Walter Benjamin and the past disassociating with present
In Walter Benjamin s Berlin Childhood Around 1900, he applies a variety of concepts with respect
to time: past, present, and future. The concepts are highlighted in his vignettes: Victory Column ,
The Telephone , and Butterfly Hunt . Benjamin attempts to imbue his writing with a different
structure of timefrom what was conventional. He perceives history as a section of moments, and
each moment is an integral whole in its own right, making it equal to the present(Knights).
Benjamin also notes that the ignoring of the past and the focus on the progression of the future
causes harmful effects to nature (Knights). The concept of technological progress appears to give
grounds for the domination and abuse of nature (Patke). Subsequently,... Show more content on

Even though Benjamin attributes a sense of delight to his image of the Victory Column , there is
also a contrasting affect of death that permeates through the vignette. There is a portico around the
Victory Column, but it is when Benjamin asserts that this portico was itself the inferno a sense of
death becomes apparent. It is evident that Benjamin wants to spotlight the darkness around the
column. It seems that Benjamin is using this past image to illustrate a sense of responsibility for
the innocently suffered of past generations. Benjamin is placing a redemptive quality to the death
of the past individuals. There is a sense of redemption embedded in his past. Benjamin wants it
visible that the Victory is surrounded by death, which is analogous of his present situation.
Sigmund Freud agrees with Benjamin s reluctance on war as he states war Broke out, and it
brought disillusion (Freud 172) and that A future war, because of such great advances in the means
of destruction, would mean the extermination of one or perhaps both adversaries. (Freud 231). If
Germany in Benjamin s present is to obtain a Victory in its oppressive endeavor, it is through mass
death, which is proven through the past. Thus, the Victory Column depicts Benjamin s past delights
before his innocence was corrupted by the future, and an example of how studying the past and its
follies can save immense death.

Marriott Case Study
History of Marriott
Marriott was founded in 1927 by the married couple of J. Willard and Alice Marriott. Their
company started off as A W root beer stand in Washington D.C. While in the restaurant franchise
business, they introduced two major ideas with the Eastern Coast s first drive in capable restaurant
and airline catering for passengers to consume boxed lunches mid flight. Later in 1953, Hot
Shoppes, Incorporated transitions to public by selling out in two hours of trading at $10.25 per
share. Five years later, Marriot makes a quintessential move into the hotel business by opening the
earliest motor hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Over the next quarter century, the brand opens its first
international hotel, becomes the first hotel company to enter the cruise business, and announces the
first Courtyard hotel for high level business travelers to lodge with. Marriot offers multiple brands
in the late 1900s that span over Europe and Africa, along with other countries and continents.
Finally, Marriott becomes the #1 hospitality company in the world with more than 5,700 properties
across the world.
Evaluation of Marriott
Marriott is undoubtedly a thriving business in the top tier of the hospitality industry. Any person
does not have to look any further than their stock price of over 100 dollars per share or their
market cap worth around 39.79 billion dollars. In class, we discussed customer service as an
important part to every company s success, and I can attest to this fact

Why Are Teachers Allowed Handguns

Teachers allowed handguns
Has it ever crossed your mind that you are not always safe? Certain situations are more risky and
treacherous. But some places are safer than other. For example your home, church, and even school.
But are you real safe at any of those places? What keeps someone from coming in and just taking
everything from right underneath you? Try to go back many, many, many years ago, do you
remember going off to kindergarten on the first day of school, ever? Emotions flying through
everyone, mom, dad, grandparents, and especially you. Worrying about will I like my teacher or
will my best friend be in my class? These all seem like fairly large problems at the time, ... Show

From Elementary schools to colleges, this is happening. Over 49.8 million enrolled in public
school in 2012. Although that may seem like a substantial amount of children,, the 297 that have
lost their lives seems like more of an impact. Every year, more than 250 students in the Chicago
Public Schools are shot, approximately 30 of these shootings are fatal. To deal with this problem,
CPS CEO Ron Huberman launched the $60 million violence prevention initiative in September of
2009 a program that have received a substantial about of national attention as an innovative attempt
to bring the violence rate down, and increase the education of the students most at risk for
violence and destruction. During this study a graph was made to determine the factors of children
that were more susceptible to being shot. For example if you have ever spent time in a juvenile
detention center, raises the likelihood by 2.5 percentage points. I feel that conducting this test has
helped determine some factors that could represent some problems and be better equipt with
solutions. Some of the largest school massacres were at Virginia Tech, 2007 killing 32 people.
Columbine High School 1999, 15 people dead. The Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the horrific
story we all remember in 2012. Where 28 people died. It s really unfortunate our world has come
to this harsh reality of our society and its upbringing. Now people have said that teachers should
have to get their concealed handgun license (CHL). In 15 midwestern universities they did a
survey on whether or not to be able to carry a concealed handgun on campus, faculty and students.
When totalled up 1,649 students 92% returned their voting ballots. The majority 78% of students
was not supportive of concealed handguns on campuses, and 78% claimed that they would not
obtain a permit to carry a handgun, if it were legal. That just goes to show and prove that people are

The author utilizes nonculturable cells of V. vulnificus to distinguish a strategy for reviving and
recuperating life forms in this state, without the expansion of supplements and nutrients. The
studies depend solely on the suppositions that the bacterium reacts to a temperature downshift by
entering a plausible yet nonculturable state. Vice versa, it also depicts an upscale shit in
temperature will lead to a lack of change amongst the cell. These metabolic pathways were
analyzed by the utilization of inhibitors of protein and peptidoglycan amalgamation. Under these
conditions the graph show different results in correspondence to temperature change. The writer
s studies also show that there was a correspondence of large increase in direct viable cell counts
over a period of time. Therefore, there were no major differences in the rate of resuscitation
between or in the cell experiment using inoculation. The aggregate number of cells present in the
microcosms even when temperature was manipulated to 23 Degrees Celsius remained at a

Big Wave Surfing Research Paper
Eddie Returns After A Six Year Absence
Eddie , a big wave competition, took place at Waimea Beach for the first time in six years this
past weekend. The waves that are critical to Big Wave surfing reached a record height as many
of them reached 60 feet this year. In order for a competition to be considered an Eddie , the
waves must be over 40 feet high and be sustainable all day. This year, El Nino played a big part to
the height of these waves as the weather pattern fueled the water and the creation of them.
Big Wave surfinghas always drawn in a big crowd to the beaches of Hawaii in the winter. A record
number of people lined the beach to watch 28 elite and professional surfers take on the monster
waves off the bay. It was estimated that over 25,000 people came to the beach in awe of the

A Lost Navajo Summary
A Lost Navajo Knowing my Navajo language, and culture, is my identity as well as how I
represent myself in today s society. In Chester Nez s story of how he was shipped off to
boarding school, he told his story of the heartbreaking truth, and his experience he had to be
stripped of his own native language. Still my story is the opposite, but similar to Nez s story the
roles are reversed, Navajo children do not know their language fluently as our ancestors did.
Growing up not being able to speak my own native language has given me negative advantages,
yet I refuse to give up learning my language to one day I will be fluent in my language as a
Navajo. Over the years I have also learned it is a privilege to be Native American. To others
Native Americans who have no knowledge of one s own culture then they are considered a lost
Native American. Personally I think it is true because language is who we are. Once someone
speaks Spanish we assume they come from a Spanish culture, and when Chinese is spoken we also
assume they are from the Chinese culture. Anyone can learn new languages just because they want
to, or they enjoy it. We are now given many opportunities to learn our language, and we should take
advantage of every chance we get.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

communicate with my maternal grandmother who spoke only Navajo. I was proud of my Navajo

Andreas Vesalius Research Paper
Andreas Vesalius was a Renaissance Physician who revolutionized the way we look at anatomy.
He transformed the study of biology and the practice of medicine by reevaluating the human
body. Past physicians had given believable but incorrect knowledge about the human anatomy.
His work was seen as being against the church which proposed a big challenge for Vesalius due
to the fact that at this time the church had a lot of power. He was called a Renaissance Physician
because he was a physician during the time of the rebirth or the enlighten age which was a period
in time in which society and scholars thought that we should begin to fix the way we live. It was a
time of advancement in every field including art, agriculture, scienceand many more. This led to
many people questioning things that other saw as facts, and led to a time of testing and
hypothesizing. This is the age in which the scientific method created and used. Scholars began to

of Padua he was appointed a lecturer in surgery, with that he had the responsibility of giving
anatomical demonstrations. He taught the same material he was taught which was based on the
research of Galen, who was a physician whose study of the anatomy was almost all of the
understanding of the anatomy we had at the time. Galen based most of his ideas of the human
anatomy on that of the anatomy of animals which he had dissected. He believed that they were
relatively the same, which could not be more incorrect. Vesalius discovered one mistake while
working on a human body, and quickly became interested and realized that there could be many

The Australian New Zealand Army Corps displayed great courage and leadership during World
War One, but what exactly made their so called ANZAC legend ? This piece of information and
research opens with what started the ANZAC s, going towards their involvement in the Great War
and finally to what the ANZAC s truly experienced in the war.
The ANZAC s were created as a part of an operation under British rule and the British Empire
during the First World War; however the ANZAC legend was formed because of the soldiers
themselves. The soldiers displayed courage and initiative during the numerous battles they fought,
showing that the legend was forged by the soldiers who displayed those several characteristics. The
following information from Dawn of the legend (2014) states that, Although there was no victory,
they displayed endurance mateship during the battle of Gallipoli . This demonstrates that even

The Beginning Of Modern Day Industry
The beginning of modern day industry.
More than perhaps any single person of the last century, Henry Ford can take responsibility for
creating the American consumer ethic and the American middle class. We can thank him or curse
him for what he has done, but either way, we have to acknowledge the impact Henry Ford had on
our society. When we think about it, we have to acknowledge the impact he has had on each of
our individual lives. You might not know that Henry Ford did not start out as a successful
producer of automobiles. After building his first car, the Quadricycle, and working to improve
his basic design in the prototypes that followed. In 1899 he formed the Detroit Automobile
Company, which quickly failed after only a few vehicles were produced. Henry and some of his
original investors regrouped and formed the Henry Ford Company which quickly ran into
problems as well. Henry Ford was dismissed by his board of directors from the company that
carried his name because of his inability to bring a car to production. The company was
reorganized as the Cadillac Motor Car Company under the engineering leadership of Henry
Leland. In 1903 Henry Ford felt he was ready to market an automobile for the public and the Ford
Motor Company was incorporated, this time with a mere $28,000 in cash put up by a new group
of investors. That original $28,000 investment was spent down to less than $300 before the
company s first car was sold, but from that time on the company was on its

tradition. She speaks the words Ready or not, here I come... and is transported to the past.

The Stomach Of The Cell
The article, The Stomach of the Cell from Pharmaceutical News describes lysosomes of the cell
located in the stomach of a human. Lysosomes are in the cells of the stomach. Their main
function uses acid to degrade, or breakdown proteins. (p. 1). Lysosomes can be used against the
body in the case of malaria, although, there is a drug that can treat it. In the beginning of the
article, the writer describes the main function of lysosomes and how lysosomes relate to other
organelles in other types of cells. In the writer s words, Lysosomes are found in animal cells...In
plant and fungal cells, a similar type of function is carried out inside vacuoles (p. 1). After the

Lysosomes and vacuoles break down amino acids and proteins to be recycled to make new
proteins. Phagocytosis is when cells deal with the remains of dead cells. Dead cells are broke
down in lysosomes to be recycled to be reused as building materials or as nutrients for energy. (p.
1). The article sets the disadvantage of lysosomes. Some of the organelles use the acidic
environment to carry out reactions that require a low pH (p. 1). Malaria parasites are one them.
Because of the heme that is released from the digestion of hemoglobin, it becomes toxic to the
parasite. To detoxify the heme, malarial parasites convert heme into an insoluble crystal called
hemozoin, which is no longer toxic to the parasite. (p. 1 p. 2). The near the end of the article
discusses the drug solutions to convert heme to hemozoin and the process. Quinine and chloroquine
both neutralize the pH of vacuoles and dissolve/attach to lipids. After the drugs go through the lipid
membrane, they increase the pH of vacuoles. After the vacuoles get neutralized, heme begins to
accumulate in Plasmodium, eventually killing the parasites. (p.

  • 2. Why Is Sports Good Or Bad For Kids Schools often provide students with the freedom of choosing the sport they want to play. Although, it is debated often if sports are good or bad for kids, they unfortunately are bad. This is because of the overwhelming injuries, pressure and academics, and poor effort in school, although some will say it brings them closer to school. The first reason sports are bad is injuries. When you play sports, you have a very big possibility of getting hurt. Primary Investigator, R. Dawn Comstock found that there were about 517,000 high schoollevel football injuries between 2005 and 2006. It is also said by the Columbus dispatch that playing sports leaves kids more susceptible to injury. The number of concussions in kids 14 19 had jumped from 7,000 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By ultimately sacrificing himself and accepting the challenge of taking on the Green Knight, Gawain undergoes a certain quest in which he will head back to the Knights of the Round Table to explain not only his story, but the ideas that the Green Knight has taught as well. Throughout the story, the reader is able to gain clues as to why Gawaindecided to sacrifice himself and undergo a quest to gain self knowledge. In Sir Gawain The Green Knight, Gawain follows a quest, receives a challenge, goes out on a journey to face that challenge, and then reports back to the Knights at the Round Table to on his quest. The whole purpose of taking on a quest is ultimately to gain self knowledge. Gawain took on the challenge of the Green Knight so he could uphold his code of chivalry. In this instance, Gawain is numerously tempted and tricked on his quest to defeat the Green Knight. To begin, the young queen attempts to flirt with him while the host hunts deer. Then, she tempts him again and gives him two kisses. At this point, Gawain manages to sidestep her and instead gives the kisses to the king. On the third visit with the queen, Gawain is then tricked. The queen hands him the green girdle and claimed to him it would make him invincible. The book exemplifies this by stating As long as he keeps the girdle looped around him, No man under heaven can hurt him. Yet, the problem is that Gawain doesn t tell the king that he received the green girdle from the Queen, and at this point he breaks his code of chivalry. In the book, it states that And to keep it hidden from her lord. And he said he would. (line #224 225) The reader now understands that Gawain is not perfect, and that he too has ... • 4. The New Rules Of A Project Manager Essay Meredith (2006) mentioned that selecting a project manager is one of the two most important decision concerning the project. He mentioned the project manager should have credibility and sensitivity. However, in other books mentioned that PM not only should have credibility and sensitivity but also vision, courage, integrity, and discipline Visioner John P. Kotter described a project without vision is a region that is unknown which is a stretch of unmapped future. In his book The New Rules: How to Succeed in Today s Post Corporate World , he mentioned that the main destruction is there is no any vision from PM. Benis and Nanus, (1997: 19) defines vision as: Something that articulates a view of a realistic, credible, attracttive future for the organization, a condition that is better in some important ways than what now exists Furthermore becah (1993) said that the vision is a general formulation of the desired state at the end of the plan period to achieve the goals that may be achieved within a certain period. Visionary leader is a leader whose in running the organization s activities emphasize the vision that has been set together from planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating as a manifestation of the organization. A PM must be visionary because it can foster the commitment of its employees. One easy way to visualize the vision is by imagining what we want to achieve an organization in the future. • 5. Mk4 Banshee Case Study Ominously, CMMG s Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the 13Th. But the only thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker s wicked new guns are the hoops shooters will have to go through to put most in their safe. Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated registration, tax, stamps, the whole nine yards. That s the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short barreled rifle world. The company has taken some mercy on the hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says frog, releasing complementary AR pistols in the line s four calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample reasons to contemplate doing the Fed s paper dance; by all accounts, the backpack big carbines are sound as oak joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5 pound mark, while the rifle caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those who shoot magnum revolvers know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft with the benefit of a stock (or brace). CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the shortest barrel the company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol calibers that snaps the tape at a nimble 5 inches, while the Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees should prove not only portable but also as fast handling as they come particularly in a close quarters application. The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of the BANSHEE sports the company s new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate and safety selector. They come standard with a Cerakote finish, an RML M LOK Hand Guard and a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come with a Tailhook Mod 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Caribbean Heroes And Villains Research Paper Someone who robs or commits illegal violence at sea or on the shores of the sea is, by definition, a pirate. Piracy in the Age of Sails has set an image for what a pirate truly is. The collective perception of a pirate of old makes fondness for the modern pirate virtually unheard of, as they have become an excellent subject for entertainment and bring joy to many with modern interpretations of adventures undertaken by the buccaneers. Pirates have become a staple in the market, having multiple brands and products named and based on them, such as movies, liquors, video games, and music. Piracybegan rising in the 17th century in the Caribbeanas a result of it becoming a booming trade center for European and rising colonial powers. Even with the Europeans having a stake in that area there was great difficulty in establishing peace. Keeping peace on the open seas is not easy compared to in a city, chasing a massive ship ready to participate in a war on the open seas is not the same a chasing a car through the streets of a city. People became attracted to the idea of becoming a pirate for the adventure on the high seas and the possibility of establishing wealth. Since piracy was not quickly quelled in the Caribbean entire cities were established by the buccaneers to further cement their presence, increasing the chances of their new way of... • 7. Why Did Napsster Use P2P Technology The Napster web site made file swapping over the Internet available via the software necessary for the Peer to Peer (P2P) file transfer to work. P2P is software that when downloaded onto someone s computer, enables that person to access another person s computer to find and copy certain files that the software is designed to recognize. It was used primarily for copying MP3files, as a result avoiding the need to actually purchase music on CD or some other format. The popularity of Napster happened quickly with 15 million registered users in less than one year, according to company sources. Napster had the attention of the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA), and their concerns of Copyright infringement. About a year after its launch, it was sued by the RIAA, which represented major recording companies such as Universal Music, BMG, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group. They claimed that by allowing users to swap free music recordings, Napster s service violated Copyright laws. Eventually, the judge ruled against Napster forcing them to shut down operations and liquidate its assets [3]. Napster used P2P technology and the use of a central database that held registered users information. The database contained information on the files they were sharing, their log in details and other information. The database made it easy for users to find and download a specific piece of music. It was the database that caused the courts to rule against Napster, not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Photography Of Producing Art Producing art has been a past time of mine since childhood. Through a strange turn of fate, a camera found a way into my hands and it awakened me to a whole new creative universe that I am still exploring. Seeing inspiration everywhere I began to keep a visual diary concerned with reminiscing my memories, and creative references. My children became my photographymodels as well. On our outings I would take pictures of them and the scenery. Snapshots of their childhood and our adventures mean more to me than most anything. Capturing them laughing and happy made me feel amazing and it was magical laughter that showed up in the photo. My camerahas let me be an observer in the tapestry of life and helped develop my art of living. Photography gave me my childlike faith and passion back. Immersing myself in the technicalities of photographic composition I became convinced that everyone is beautiful and beautifully flawed. Photography allows me to create masterpieces painted with light that reflect inspirational artists. The experts who have influenced my work are Picasso, Ansel Adams, Salvadore Dali, Vivian Maier, Jerry Ueslmann, Zemotion and Edward C. Curtis . They understood the importance of documenting moments in time and of perfecting their art. My tools are both digital camera coupled with Photoshop, LightRoom, and an analog 35mm camera. • 12. 13th Century American Renaissance Humanism While the 12th and 13th centuries were periods of expansion in economic, social, intellectual, and religious fronts, the 14th and 15th century were marked by almost uninterrupted warfare, plague, and depression. However, the one and only area of life that did not diminish at all was culture. To the contrary, cultural life (especially writing) did not slow down. It began expanding in the 11th century and never stopped, even though the troubled religious and economic scenario of the 1500s. During this time a poet by the name of Petrarch wrote many letters where he would communicate with a long dead Roman philosopher and friend Cicero. In these letters, Cicero would write back to him . Petrarch was careful enough to maintain Cicero s own style of writing whenever it was Cicero s turn to write , almost in an attempt to revive the Greek style of thinking. For this reason, Petrarch is considered being at the forefront of Renaissancehumanism. Renaissance humanism was an intellectual movement based on the study of the Classical literary works of Greece and Rome (Spielvogel 344). Personally, I believe this means your strong impulse to follow and conquer what you feel most passionate about. In the novel, The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros ,the main character Esperanza shares her journey through life and her longing desire to leave the house she lives on Mango Street forever. Throughout the novelthere are multiple themes that transpire during Esperanza s life. In the year 2000, rap became the second best selling genre in music, capturing 12.9 percent of the year s $14.3 billion in total record sales ( Rap/Hip Hop Sc 1). Though rap is no stranger to criticism, that criticism has increased in both quantity and vociferousness at about the same rate as the number of rap albums climbing the charts. Graffiti art also became intertwined with hip hop early on, and the music became a celebration of the three art forms that comprise hip hop culture graffiti, break dancing, and the music itself (Smitherman Sc 1, Costello 22). The mid 1980 s saw the rise to marginal mainstream popularity of rap groups like Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, who drew criticism for their relaxed treatment of sex, violence and, in the case of the Beastie Boys, drugs. After reading and researching, it is very clear to me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different sports. In each nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their given sport. Even though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society, there is still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about the societies that is comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport. Both groups are very large, intensely loyal and... Essay on The Lives of Athenian Women Women in classical Athens could not have had an extremely enjoyable experience, if we rely on literary sources concerning the roles of women within the Greek polis. The so called Athenian democracy only benefited a fraction of the entire population. At least half of this population was female, yet women seem to have had very little influence and few official civic rights. `The position of women...is a subject which has provoked much controversy. Studies concerning the lives of women in classical Athens have sparked much controversy because, despite the apparent fascination with femininity manifested in art and drama, we have no evidence voicing the opinions of the actual women themselves. Pomeroy s influential monograph, Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves: Women in Classical Antiquity (1976), it is pointed out that in the past, when scholars have considered the quality of life for women in classical Athens, they have often subjectively selected the type of evidence to use for their argument. She argues that `optimists, who are of the opinion that women enjoyed a comparatively liberated lifestyle, focus upon the prominent role that women play within art and drama. `Pessismists, on the other hand, base their ideas upon Athenian laws and the writings of orators and moralists (Pomeroy: 1976; Just: 1989). The evidence that we have available regarding women `relate to different levels of reality (Humphreys: 1983; Just: 1989), therefore the sources pertain to different aspects of women s lives and need to be pieced together to provide a clear picture. One such `optimistic scholar is A.M. Gomme (1925), who referred to distinctive female characters such as Medea, Clytemnestra, Antigone and Electra in Greek tragedy. Gomme argued that tragedy showed Athenian women as having the freedom to come and go as they pleased. He points out that even the timid, submissive Ismene is content to wander the streets of Thebes with her sister Antigone (who is the more dominant, perhaps even masculine, heroine) without a male guardian ... Although others may say the contrary, I believe making good first expressions is always important, and Edwin Epps made a horrible first impression. The second Northup arrived, Master Epps already had him performing difficult tasks around the plantation. These jobs can range from picking cotton on a blistering hot day to carrying heavy metals back and from the house. Edwin Epps, in my eyes, is a very abusive master, although beating slaves is the correct thing to do, he tends to take it to an extreme level. He beats them and strangles them for whatever reason, although they may not be doing anything wrong. If I were a slave and if I worked for Edwin Epps, himself, I m pretty sure I ll be dead. Not for doing the work incorrectly, but for talking back when I knew I couldn t. Instead of leaving the slaves to perish, he would use his own hands to beat them, to feel the presumptuous thrill running through their bare flesh. There was one thing Northup enjoyed that lifted his spirits, and that was looking at Miss Patsey. The way he described her, made the readers think that he wanted to devour her in just one look. • 25. The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration on Catalase... Introduction H2O2 is commonly known as hydrogen peroxide and it is a strong oxidizer and a naturally produced compound in humans as a by product of oxidative metabolism. Because of this, humans also produce the enzyme catalase peroxidases in order to convert small amounts of H2O2 into oxygen and water. It uses the following chemical formula: 2H_2 O_2в†’O_2+гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O This process is called decomposition as two hydrogen peroxide molecules are broken down into oxygen and two water molecules. Catalase is an important enzyme that protects cells from oxidative damage, which hydrogen peroxide can cause. It is an incredibly efficient enzyme where one catalase molecule can convert millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules each second. This experiment looked at how substrate concentration can affect enzyme activity. In this case the substrate was hydrogen peroxide and the enzyme was catalase. Pieces of meat providing the catalase were added to increasing concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in order to measure the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentrations on the enzyme s activity. The variable measured was oxygen produced, as water would be too difficult to measure with basic equipment. Research Question What is the effect of the concentration of a hydrogen peroxide solution on catalase activity? Hypothesis The hypothesis is that catalase activity will increase exponentially with higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide until all catalase active sites are filled, in which case the ... He explains why UCTs are as popular as they are in modern society, and why people should nevertheless disregard and approach them with caution. What Keeley refers to as virtues are the reason for the popularity of UCTs. He gives the virtue of explanatory reach as the first and main reason for UCTs popularity, which is the account of all knowledge including errant data. This is in stark contrast to the received theory, which is imperfect by nature. This quality of UCTs is particularly attractive because it appeals to human rationality by allowing for no loopholes. Keely argues that errant data alone is not significant enough, and that a theory should never fit all of the data. This leads into one of the main points, concerning falsifiability and skepticism. Unfalsifiability is acceptable when the item or person under investigation is not actively trying to escape from the investigator. Keeley contends that the problem is not the innate unfalsifiability, but rather the increasing amount of skepticism required. Keely seeks a hole in the concept of conspiracy theories that accounts for a person s innate sense that belief in a particular conspiracy theory is not justified. In the case of the natural sciences, falsifiability is acceptable because of the rigorous protocols in place, and therefore, we are warranted in believing scientific claims. • 33. Alexander The Great Greek Crusader Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later actions. It is a pure cultural theory of gang delinquency specialized for the lower class. As Miller explained in a short article that he called Lower Class Culture as a Generating Milieu of Gang Delinquency, the lower class contributed to a distinct criminogenic culture. (Greene, Gabbidon Miller, 2013) This means that the lower class produces criminal acts. He also explained that his explanation of delinquency is based on those who live in unhappy inner cities where females are mostly the head of their households, and they operate according focal concerns due to the fact that they do not have middle class values, good discipline, and role models. The luxury hotel industry on a global basis shares the characteristics of high capital requirements and a high proportion of fixed costs to total cost. In addition to physical facilities, a substantial amount of financial resources is required for construction, furnishing, pre operational expenses and marketing activities. The concepts are highlighted in his vignettes: Victory Column , The Telephone , and Butterfly Hunt . Benjamin attempts to imbue his writing with a different structure of timefrom what was conventional. He perceives history as a section of moments, and each moment is an integral whole in its own right, making it equal to the present(Knights). The concept of technological progress appears to give grounds for the domination and abuse of nature (Patke). Subsequently,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Benjamin attributes a sense of delight to his image of the Victory Column , there is also a contrasting affect of death that permeates through the vignette. There is a portico around the Victory Column, but it is when Benjamin asserts that this portico was itself the inferno a sense of death becomes apparent. It is evident that Benjamin wants to spotlight the darkness around the column. It seems that Benjamin is using this past image to illustrate a sense of responsibility for the innocently suffered of past generations. Benjamin is placing a redemptive quality to the death of the past individuals. There is a sense of redemption embedded in his past. Benjamin wants it visible that the Victory is surrounded by death, which is analogous of his present situation. Sigmund Freud agrees with Benjamin s reluctance on war as he states war Broke out, and it brought disillusion (Freud 172) and that A future war, because of such great advances in the means of destruction, would mean the extermination of one or perhaps both adversaries. (Freud 231). If Germany in Benjamin s present is to obtain a Victory in its oppressive endeavor, it is through mass death, which is proven through the past.
