1. Essay Work Cited
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay Work Cited" can be quite challenging, requiring a
careful balance of research, analysis, and adherence to citation standards. The intricacies of
compiling a comprehensive list of sources demand attention to detail and a thorough
understanding of citation styles such as APA, MLA, or Chicago.
The difficulty often lies in the meticulous nature of referencing, ensuring that each source is
accurately documented, including the author's name, publication date, title, and relevant
publication details. This meticulousness is vital not only for academic integrity but also to
demonstrate the credibility of the essay's arguments and information.
Furthermore, maintaining consistency throughout the citation section is crucial. Inconsistencies in
formatting or missing information can detract from the overall quality of the essay and may even
lead to accusations of plagiarism or inadequate research.
Beyond the technical aspects, there is the challenge of integrating the works cited seamlessly
into the essay's narrative. It requires skill to incorporate citations fluidly while maintaining the
coherence and flow of the writing. Striking the right balance between original thought and
referenced material is an art that demands practice and precision.
Despite these challenges, mastering the skill of creating a well-organized and properly cited
essay is a valuable academic and professional asset. It not only showcases the writer's research
proficiency but also contributes to the overall credibility of the work.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of "Essay Work Cited" demands attention to detail, a strong
grasp of citation styles, and the ability to seamlessly integrate references into the narrative. It's a
task that requires both technical expertise and a keen understanding of the importance of proper
citation in academic and professional writing.

Competition for Increasingly Scarce Resources in the 21st Century Introduction
During the 1960s, dire Malthusian warnings about the impact of overpopulation,
consumption and resource depletion caused only a ripple of concern in the
international community as the Green Revolution and modern birth control methods
and practices appeared to provide a viable solution to these problems. Unfortunately,
even though innovations in agricultural practices have increased yields even further
than during the second half of the 20th century, most authorities agree that realistic
limits are already being reached. Complicating issues for policymakers today is the
paradoxical nature of population growth, with many wealthy nations experienced
negative population growth while a number of impoverished developing nations are
experiencing explosive population growth, placing even heavier demands on already
scant resources. To determine how the issues of overpopulation, consumption, and
resource depletion relate to wealthy nations and developing nations and how can
these issues be addressed, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature,
followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Analysis The issues of overpopulation, consumption and resource
depletion are, of course, inextricably interrelated. After all, more people mean more
mouths to feed, water to drink and air to breathe. Indeed, increased population levels
naturally result in
3. Similarities Between Roman And Greek Gods
There are many similarities between the Romans and the Greeks such as, how they
worship their gods, their social classes, their arts, and many more.In this paper, I will
be explaining the similarities between the Greek and the Romans.
In both Rome and Greece, the religion was most likely Polytheism or Christianity.
That is, the people that were polytheistic believed in either Roman or Greek gods.
The Roman gods were inspired by the Greek gods, but Greek and Roman
mythology have the same Gods but with different names, because many Roman
Gods are borrowed from Greek mythology. A lot of the stories told about the Roman
gods are somewhat the same as the Greek gods. For example, the story of Jupiter
and his father Saturn is the same as the story of Zeus and his father Cronos. Another
example to prove that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is in Greece, women don t have that much right in the city states and there were
controlled and under the protection of their husband, father, or any male relative
they have in there life. Also, in Greece, women had no part or role in politics,
Instead the women would stay home and raise the kids. In Roman culture, they
allowed their women to get an education, to join the army, and they didn t become
properties of the men the like the Greeks women became.
Another reason way to that Greek and Rome have similar culture is through the
social classes. Social classes are a division of a society based on social and
economic status. In Greece, the society was divided into slaves, freedmen, metics,
citizens, and women. Rome had slaves, freedmen, plebeians, and patricians. In
ancient Greece, it was said that slavery was natural and nessacary. According to
Aristotle, the slave whole day was sum up in three work work, discipline, and
feeding . The reason for why I think that they similar is because of the way they
treated the group
4. The Protagonists In YA Fiction
It is easy to dismiss teenagers; it is even easier to dismiss teen literature. Someone
asked me once why I liked reading young adult fiction and I said that it is within
this genre that I am able to read and explore that which most people do not like to
talk about. It is this genuinely truthful nature behind the genre that I believe would
create a class where students could explore and question the world and the lives
people live.
Books often times reveal something about society and the time, in which it was
written, YA fictionis no exception. Protagonists in YA novels are still growing up
creating a point of view that allows the injustices of their world shine through. For
instance, in the world of The Giver deals with a dehumanized and immoral
community that pushes people categories. Jonas, a 12 year old boy, is able to pick
up on the growing cost of being part of a community that functions corruptly. This is
not so different from our own society where categories have become quintessential
and individuals have become numb to the world outside of them. ... Show more

For example, The Perks of Being a Wallflower talks about depression, love, and
abuse. In my experience, most people don t particularly like talking about such
heavy topics and avoid it if they can, focusing on the brighter, happier parts of life.
YA literature sheds light on these topics by showcasing the somewhat sadder and
darker human experience. In The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Charlie is forced to
face his past abuse while trying to make friends in high school, Sam is insecure
and trying to go to college, Patrick deals with having a secret relationship and
having his heart broken. As a reader one is able to learn and grow with these
characters and become more aware of other people and their struggles. YA novels
offer insight to the heavier topics and help reader s confront their own demons or
simply become more
5. Internet Gambling Essay
Abstract: Internet gambling has become one of the hottest areas of the web, both in
the sheer volume of sites and quantity of money involved. Increasing controversy is
accompanying this new industry, as federal and state government officials scramble
to update legislation that restricts interstate wagering. This paper examines the roots
of Internet gambling and exposessome of the motivations driving the heated debate
over its legitimacy.
The business to consumer sector of the Internet commerce arena contains the most
lucrative and fastest growing web based industry: online gambling, which includes
sports wagering, casino style games and lotteries [1]. In a September 11th article
from last year, Wired on line reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed the bill 16 1[4], the measure moved to
the House for consideration in July 2000, where representatives currently deliberate
on its merits [8].
Representative James Leach of Iowa then proposed the Internet Gambling Funding
Prohibition Act, which has also failed to become ratified. Introduced shortly after
Kyl brought the of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act to the House, the bill had a
two fold purpose: first, to prohibit online gambling companies from knowingly
accepting wagers placed on credit; and second, to absolve unknowing financial
intermediaries [i.e., credit card companies] of legal and monetary responsibility when
gamblers use their services for credit transactions [9]. The motivation for the
legislation may have come from the bizarre 1998 lawsuit filed in Marin County, CA
by Cynthia Haines, who lost $70,000 dollars through Internet wagers
6. The Women s Rights Movement
Throughout American history, women have constantly been suppressed. It was
believed overall that women were not supposed to work, but to stay home, cook,
clean, make clothes, and take care of the child(ren). Basically, a woman was
considered her husband s property. It was not until 1920s that women were finally
able to get the rights they deserve, such as birth control, new divorce laws, and
ultimately the right to vote, which was the main focus of the Women s Rights
Movement. This movement consisted of many organizations, such as the National
Woman Suffrage Association for example, coming together and holding protests,
riots, and seminars where women were able to express their wants to politicians.
Congress finally passing an amendment giving women the right to vote allowed them
to get other things they deserved such as access to higher education and improved
working conditions. Women prior to this, such as Susan B. Anthony and Eleanor
Roosevelt, attempted to get women the rights they deserve. There were numerous
social movements prior to the 1920s that attempted to get women s rights recognized
by the American government. They were the platform for the Women s Rights
Movements. Even though they are numerous women known for their efforts during
the 18th and 19th centuries, they were never able to accomplish the goals that
women suffrage activists accomplished in the 20th century. Women finally getting the
right to vote gave them an unspoken confidence and a sense of
7. Witchcraft Explains Unfortunate Events Summary
Sir E. E. Evans Pritchard was an anthropologist and Professor of Social Anthropology
at the University of Oxford. His most notable work was Witchcraft, Oracles and
Magic Among the Azande in which he details the applications and understanding of
witchcraft and other similar ideas of a culture group in North Central Africa. The
main argument of the second chapter The Notion of WitchcraftExplains Unfortunate
Events is the Zande use the explanation of witchcraft as a means of attributing cause
to misfortune that is separate from the obvious/objective cause of the event. Given
the information presented in this chapter, I would say that I agree with Evans
Pritchard s assessment that the Zande use witchcraft to attribute cause to their
misfortune. While the Zande are familiar with concepts such as carelessness,
incompetence, and even natural misfortune, when it comes into factoring in
coincidence, they supplant the notion of witchcraft. Instead of coincidental causal
phenomena, the Zande maintain there is no coincidence in misfortune as it happens
as a direct result of witchcraft. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difficulty lay with Evans Pritchard s initial ethnocentrism in early observations,
as there is little familiar cultural context to pull from with regard to the active role of
witchcraft in day to day life. Evans Pritchard also notes, Witchcraft participates in all
misfortunes and is the idiom in which Azande speak about them and in which they
explain them.
8. Essay on Odysseus
Odysseus
Homer s The Odyssey, a magnificent story of lust, deceit, greed, and heroism, still
fascinates scholars and casual readers alike today in the same way it fascinated its
audience at the time it was written. The Odyssey, a journey of determination,
patience, and virtue, tells the tail of Odysseus, the main character, on his voyage
home to Ithaka after the end of the Trojan War. Odysseus goes through many
unforeseen trials and tribulations, which exemplify his character. During these
different happenings, Odysseus makes decisions that do not correspond to his
character. Odysseus character , as seen in the Iliad, is much like that of a Homeric

There are many benefits to developing and using a performance management plan.
Having a plan in place will help to build a viable business model on the direction a
business should go. A (PM) will assist on how to concentrate on the customer and

over their competition. Using testing, role play, interactions and conversations can
aid with the (PM) because information is shared and the communication is effective.
Goals set and met, observations made and surveys conducted, all assist in illustrating
an employee s performance and how a manager can use the performance
management plan to develop the employee in areas that are not as strong and
encourage / recognize them in the areas where they are strong. Instead of viewing a
performance management plan as another useless and inefficient overhyped tool;
10. Essay about I’ve Got to Habit
I ve Got to Habit
Overcoming bad habits or creating new ones is easier than one might think.
Quality of life can be compromised by behaviors such as procrastination and
reluctance to change. There are people who believe they are set in their ways or
who resist change by denying there is any need for it. Those are simply cop outs.
Habits are broken by the same method they are created. When individuals begin
tackling a few stubborn habits and creating a few more desirable habits, life can
become more enjoyable and worthwhile. It is important to distinguish behaviors from
habits and habits from addictions. As defined in the New Oxford American
Dictionary, behaviors pertain to the way in which one acts or behaves. When a

The truth is it only sent a subliminal message to the procrastinator s unconscious

thing is usually one of the things on the list could have been done in the time it took
to make the list. Procrastination is a behavior that must be addressed for smooth
transitioning during the process of creating healthier habits. Researchers have
suggested that inhibitions and good intentions can hinder or assist in the breaking of
or creating a habit. Thus, although inhibition may be crucial, no research has yet
been done on the role of inhibition in the context of pre existing habits. However,
understanding the cognitive mechanisms involved in successful implementation of
intentions is highly relevant, and particularly so in the domain of health behavior,
where people often try to change their habits by means of conscious intentions. The
present study, therefore, was designed to examine how intentions can lead to the

Objective In this experiment, the pKa, dissociation constant, of 2 naphthol was
determined by measuring the UV visible absorption spectra of solution of the acid at
different pH values.
Procedure In this experiment, solutions of 2 naphthol will be prepared in buffer
solutions with pH values near the expected pKa (refer to Table 7.1 in the lab Manual)
at 25 В°C and the UV visble spectra of each solution will be measured using a Cary
50 spectrometer. For detailed procedure, refer to the lab manual (J. F. WГіjcik and T.
S. Ahmadi, Experimental Physical Chemistry, 2015; p.3 5.). A modification of the
procedure is, time drift of the pH was not calculated. The pH of the pH = 4.00 buffer
was not measured every 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Data 2 naphthol has a molecular weight of 144.17 g/mol, with a density of 1.22 g
/cm3. The melting point of 2 naphthol is in the range of 121 to 123 В°C. The stock
solution of 2 naphthol has a concentration of 1.9844E 3 M.
Results Before any calculations, the spectra from the HCl solution and NaOH
solution was verified to make sure that the wavelength at which the deprotonated
form of 2 naphthol absorbs at 345 nm and that protonated form does not absorb
significantly at the same wavelength. All the spectra in Figure 1 were baseline
corrected using the HCl solution spectrum, shown in Figure 2, and the NaOH
solution spectrum was used to determine Amax at 345 nm. To calculate the pHC of
each trial solution, the concentration of every ion in the

14. Loneliness And Isolation In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In this excerpt of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the scene reveals the creature s
desperation to befriend the DeLaceys to escape his loneliness. After approaching
the old DeLacey, he expresses his yearning for companionship and protection from
the family. However, Felix, Safie, and Agatha suddenly enter the hovel and confront
the creature. The horror (96) on the faces of his friends and being struck violently
with a stick (97) show the rejection that the creature experiences. His only link to
humanity is broken and he is isolated from society. This passage exhibits the central
theme of loneliness as experienced by the creature. The excerpt shows that loneliness

He is isolated from society, and it is proven when the DeLacey family rejects the
creature for his appearance. This passage parallels the creature s first rejection by his
own creator, Victor Frankenstein. Due to the his ugliness, Victor abandons his
creation because of his disgust (35). As a result, the creature is left to explore the
world on his own without guidance. His appearance causes him to be feared by
nearly everyone he sees, and thus, he is isolated. Earlier, when the creature
encounters an old man, he shrieked loudly (73) and ran out of his hut. His
physique is such a cause of alarm for others, that even strangers leave their houses
in fear. However, this passage shows the kindness that the blind DeLacey showed.
Since he could not see, the old DeLacey was the only person who would listen to
the creature, because he could not judge his appearance. He had empathy. Still, the
creature faced rejection. Subsequently, he believed that solitude [was his] only
consolation (61). The creature used isolation as a coping mechanism for his
constant rejection. However, this only contributed to his loneliness and suffering.
The creature even compares himself to the devil (93) to emphasise his seclusion.
He uses this analogy to show his despair because even the enemy of God had his
companions (93). Frankenstein s creation is physically and emotionally alone
because he is the only one of his kind. He is not accepted because of his deformities.
Therefore, rejection from society, is the cause of his

Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to study the esterification reaction principle and
master the preparation method of the isoamyl acetate. It was use isoamyl alcohol and
acetic acid as raw materials, to the synthesis of isoamyl acetate. The necessary
methods are reflux process and distillation process.
Experiment Scheme
Chemical Structure 1: Isopentyl alcohol Chemical Structure 2: Acetic acid Chemical
Structure 3: Isopentyl acetate Chemical Structure 4: Sulfuric acid Chemical
Structure 5: Sodium bicarbonate Chemical Structure 6: Sodium chloride Chemical
Structure 7: Anhydrous sodium sulfate Reaction: Mechanism: First. We weight
the 10 ml graduated cylinder and record the data for 37.87g. Then put 5ml
isopentyl alcohol and weight it with the 10 ml graduated cylinder for 41.94g. So,
we get the isopentyl alcohol weight is 4.07g. Then, we also weight 7ml glacial
acetic acid and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder. We add 1 ml sulfuric acid
and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder too. After we mix all of the liquid, we
put a boiling stone in the flask. Next, we good connection device like the picture.
Then heating under reflux. Before reflux, we should check it. First, we should wait
until the liquid began to boil and the color was changing to brown. Then, continue to
heat for 75 minutes. After 75 minutes, we stop it. And we need to cool the liquid to
the room temperature. Then we ready 10ml ice water to cool the liquid. After cooling
it, we put the liquid in the separatory funnel. And we should add 5ml saturated
aqueous sodium to separate it. After first separate it. Then add 5ml saturated aqueous
sodium chloride to separate it. Then transfer the liquid to a 25 ml round bottom flask.
After one week, we first weight the sample mass. Then put our sample to another
group s graduated cylinder. And weight the combine mass. Then put the sample into a
distillation unit. To begin the distillation and record the boiling point range. And we
should also weight the mass after distillation. We can calculate the percentage yield.

I enjoy listening to a variety of all kinds of music. However, interestingly, through
whole my life, I have never attended many classical concerts before; especially
classical saxophone ones. Compared to all the other concerts that I have gone to, the
saxophone studio recital was a definite change in atmosphere. The Dana Concert
Series presented the YSU saxophonestudio recital in the Butler Institute of American
Art. The students of Dr. James C. Umble performed at 12:15 in the prepossessing
building. The room filled with many loved ones, students, faculty, and bystanders.
Everyone remained very quiet waiting for the show to begin as the performers
warmed up for a little while off to the side of the stage.
Four performers walked onto the stage getting in their ready positions. A gentleman
sitting on the opposite side of the walkway up in the front seats starting clapping
loudly. One of the performers had looked over, and waved their hand and mouthed
them to stop kindly. It was an awkward, yet funny situation because I believe it was a
family member. The performers were Christie Hrdlicka, soprano saxophone, Anthony
Bonamase, alto saxophone, Matthew Eustace, tenor saxophone, and Jake Jeges,
baritone saxophone. The performers then walked to their ready positions and the
audience began to clap. They had remained standing, which was odd to me because
any instrumental concerts I have attended they always sat down. The music stands
stood as tall as the person in front of them.

substantial amount of hope in the possibility of scrooge altering his miserable
ways. Evidenced here No. I should like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk
just now! That s all. Showing the audience that Scrooge is starting to comprehend all
the lives he has affected negatively.
By this part in the novel, dickens introduced the next Ghost, the Ghost of Christmas
Present. The ghost of Christmas present takes Scrooge to his clerk`s house. Here
he witness the unfortunate conditions of their Christmas, however, it doesn t
appear to be so unfortunate at all; although Scrooge notices how Tiny Tim is
crippled and at deaths door. He is moved by this sight, and that of his clerk s
family. He had never imagined their lives to be like this before; however it s
astonishing to him, that although extremely poor, they are full of joy and
happiness. He notices the simple pleasures of family life as well. Furthermore
something strange begins to happen, he sympathises with Tiny Time, who Scrooge
understands will die without financial help. Dickens has showed us how scrooge is
changing and learning to sympathise, a skill he previously didn t have. Spirit, said
Scrooge, with an interest he had never felt before, tell me if Tiny Tim will live.

Akshat Piprottar British Literature and Composition Mr. McRae Essay #1
Doublethink in 1984 Hungry for absolute dominance over their people, the
totalitarian government known as the Party implements various tools, whether
physical or ideological, into the common man. One of these tools is the idea of
doublethink, where, holding both the absolute truth and the truth implanted by the
Party in their minds, any given person can believe two contradicting ideas at once.
George Orwell, the author of 1984, successfully shows the reader how doublethink
cannot be practiced. In one of the plentiful scenes where O Brien tortures Winston,
Winston fails to doublethink properly. Between the electric shocks, O Brien,
holding up four fingers, asks Winston to count how many fingers. Trying to instill
the value of doublethink in Winston, O Brien actually further demonstrates how
flawed doublethink is. Winston suppose[s] there are four (288), trying to see five
if I [Winston] could . Winston says he really wants to see them [the five fingers] ,
yet he still fails. After an electric shock, Winston experiences a vision of a forest of
fingers... moving in a sort of dance . Orwell uses a metaphor for Winston s state of
thought; his hazy vision is really just uncertainty in his mind. Trying desperately to
see five fingers, Winston still can only either see four fingers or a hazy in between.
There is no way for him to see both four and five fingers at the same time. Orwell
uses this very literal

For this experiment we utilized a variety of materials. We first utilized a sharpie
pen to write down the locations of our experiments and our names among other
information on seven different Agar plates. We then used seven different
containers of sterilized water to make sure there was no contamination between
different samples. We also utilized seven different disposable swabs for this exact
same reason. We also used seven packages of Para film in order to seal the plates.
Lastly we made use of a freezer in order to keep our plates at the proper temperature
for bacteriaincubation and growth. These are all the physical materials we made use
of while conducting our own experiment. For our methods, first collected all of our

Is your hair dry and damaged and you just don t know what to do with it? With salon
treatments and overpriced products, you may have just given up on your hair.
Maintaining and repairing your hair starts from your daily routine. Formulating
treatments in the comfort of your own home without making a dent in your wallet is
the next step. Get ready for shiny, healthy, and frizz free hair!
Causes of Damaged Hair
The most common type of damaged hair is caused by chemicals. Harsh chemicals,
perms, color treatments, and bleach are big contributors to your damaged hair.
These chemicals strip your hair of their natural moisture and protein, leaving your
hair weak and brittle. With excessive usage of these harsh chemicals, your hair may
chip or even shed more rapidly that you would like. While combing your hair is a
true importance, there is such thing as over combing. Excessively combing your hair
can put a strain on your hair, leaving it damaged. Direct heat on your hair definitely
causes split ends and damaged hair. Using heat stimulated styling products can
diminish the proteins that keep your hair luscious. Direct sunlight is usually not the
case for damaged hair if your hair has not been chemically treated. However,

your hair dry and damaged. Washing it every other day will allow the hair to keep
oils in. To avoid greasy second day hair, reach for a dry shampoo to spray on the
roots to absorb the oils in your hair. In addition, washing your hair with the right
temperature water is very important to keep to your hair healthy. Washing it with hot
water will dry out the hair, and cold water will make your hair flat and dull. Make

Amber s Secret
Bio202
Amber is an 18 year old woman who has found she is feeling sick and unusual. She
comes to find out that she is pregnant and consults her doctor. Being concerned of
her student status and what her parents might think are her biggest fears. The fetus
growing inside her is almost 11 weeks and has her own story from the inside.
Mentioning all of the growth that has occurred and the development milestones she
has reached, the fetus is concerned of her own well being. The doctor offers Amber
the options of abortion and adoption, and then the heart beat will be heard. It is
unclear what Amber s choice is in the end.

4. What are the hormonal and physical changes going on in Amber during her
pregnancy? What is keeping her from menstruating as normal?
Physiological changes occurring in Amber s body are happening in her
gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory and cardiovascular system. She is feeling sick
because of the increased hCG, progesterone and estrogen levels. Her story is only
until her 11th week of her pregnancy, but she may feel many symptoms throughout
the rest of her pregnancy if it is not aborted. Those symptoms could be increased
urination because the kidneys are disposing of fetal metabolic waste as well as her
own. Blood volume also rises to help accommodate the fetus needs (Marieb amp;
Hoehn 2013).
An over production of the hormone progesterone is created which stops the follicle
stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Those are the hormones
needed for an egg to be released and travel down into the uterus for a menstruation
cycle. If that does not occur, there is not menstruation (Marieb amp; Hoehn 2013)
5. How does a pregnancy test work?
At home pregnancy tests can be purchased over the counter or a blood test can be
performed at the doctor s office. They both check for the human Chorionic
Gonadotropin, hCG, hormone that is produced during pregnancy. The home
pregnancy test uses urine, and the doctor s office tests blood (Women s Health 2006).

26. How Electoral Systems Shape Election Results
How Electoral Systems Shape Election Results:
The Case of the 2015 Federal Election in Canada
The 2015 Canadian Federal Election, which saw Justin Trudeau become the new
Prime Minister, brought in the highest ever number of voters in Canadian history.
Despite the high confidence of the Conservative party to win this election, many
factors contributed to their defeat. Chief among these factors, which is the focus of
this paper, pertains to the type of electoral system employed in Canada: the first past
the post (FPTP) or single member plurality. This paper presents an analysis of the
outcome of the 2015 election that is grounded in a discussion of how different
electoral systems produce the particular structures that directly ... Show more content

This FPTP system has also been said to lead to small parties being under represented
in election outcomes, which may misleadingly underestimate the popularity of their
views than is actually the case (Donley, 2003). Moreover, because the percentage of
seats is not in proportion to the MPs share of votes in their ridings, the common
sentiment among voters is that their vote is essentially wasted. The issue of
disproportionality has been used as a basis to propose electoral reform in Canada.
The alternatives to Canada s current FPTP electoral system include, but are not
limited to, proportional representation (PR) and the alternative vote system.
In PR systems, seats are distributed on a nationwide or regional basis. Parties
victories stem from their proportion of the vote in multi member constituencies
(Donley, 2003). Advocates of the PR system point to the distorted preferences of
voters in a single member plurality system and thus the fairness of having a
legislature more reflective of the partisan distribution of votes; in essence, each vote
should bear equal weight, they argue (Donley, 2003). The typical rebuttal to this
argument proposed by opponents of PR is that the executive stability brought forth by
artificial legislative majorities is a more important consideration, and that PR is likely
to produce more coalition governments (Cairns, 1968).
Another alternative to the FPTP system is the alternative vote system, whereby
voters rank candidates on
27. Protein Essay
Proteins are widely used in the food industry as foaming and emulsifying agents
(Wilde et al. 2004). They stabilize oil in water emulsions by forming an interfacial
membrane where the adsorbed proteins unfold and rearrange their secondary and
tertiary structures to expose hydrophobic residues to the hydrophobic phase
(MacRitchie, 1978). Plant proteins are low cost, non toxic, natural, biocompatible,
and biodegradable polymers. In recent years, plant proteins have drawn increasing
attention from the food and pharmaceutical industries as an alternative to animal
proteins due to increased consumer concerns over the safety of animal derived
products (e.g., prion diseases) (Liu et al., 2010). Among plant proteins, soybean

Among the chemical treatments, pH shifting is a relatively new method that adjusts
the pH of a protein solution to extreme basic or acidic conditions to unfold the
protein, followed by changing the pH back to neutral to refold the protein. This
unfolding refolding process has been reported to effectively modify the protein
functional properties (Jiang et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2016). High intensity ultrasound
or power ultrasound refer to sonic waves that are at frequencies higher than sound
audible to the human ear, with sound intensities in the range of 0.1 1 W/cm2 (Feng
and Yang, 2011). The mode of action of ultrasound induced protein structure
modification is often attributed to acoustic cavitation. The physical forces produced
by cavitation, such as shear forces produced by micro streaming and normal
impingement from the water jets at the solid liquid interfaces, help to break down the
protein particles or aggregates in dispersions (Lee et al., 2016). Conventional
ultrasonic modification of protein functionality is performed at relatively low
cavitation intensities. Consequently, a relatively long treatment time, i.e. 15 30 min
for soy proteins (Hu et al., 2013) is required to produce meaningful changes in protein
structures. There is a

Evolution of E Commerce E commerce has become one of the most prevalent
changes in the way we do business today. Businesses, before the creation of the
web, were typically at a physical location where customers could come, browse, try
on, and purchase goods and services. Some of the disadvantages of this business
model were: customers restricted by location, the need for larger amounts of
inventory, larger retail space, and more employees to cover customer service. E
commerce began with the advent of the Internet and started as billboards for
information and advertisement purposes. Then as technology developed through the
early 1980s, it grew into e mail purchasing (Compuserve). From there, the World

The company evolved into the 3 rd party distribution market which allowed vendors
to sell their products through Amazon s web store and with Amazon handling the
transactions for a per sale commission. This allowed for smaller vendors, who might
not have the technological capabilities and expertise to sell their products over the
web, to take advantage of the many advantages this new technology offered. One
click shopping was invented as was point to point tracking, where the customer could
watch how the shipping of their package progressed. But because of the inherent
complexity of these on line systems, bad coding practices, rapid evolution of
technology, constant demand of the consumer and the predatory nature of hackers,
security is becoming harder and harder for businesses to guarantee. Security With the
advent of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which transferred money between
accounts; and the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), where business forms, purchase
orders, invoices and other information can be shared electronically; the advent of
vulnerabilities in ecommerce also became a reality. In 1985 the first retail electronic
banking system was offered and subsequently hacked. In the 1990s, the use of Credit

these numbers by the millions. This vulnerability lead to the development of SSL

As individuals, and families clamor for the opportunity to reside in the United States
of America and pursue the American dream, it is evident that the land of the free and
home of the brave emblematizes a meaning which extends greater than the breadth of
newfound wealth. In Khaled Hosseini s novel The Kite Runner, the main character
Amir, the son of a wealthy, altruistic, and respected merchant, spends his childhood
seeking for acceptance with his father, and through this process, narcissism
voraciously ravages Amir s thoughts leading him with an abiding guilt. Likewise, this
foremost concern of self preservation, gave way to the blistering, wintery day in
1975 which changed Amir s life is gashed by the wrath of guilt, a wound which began
to close due to the hardships which he had to endure while emigrating to the United
States of America. Ultimately, the magnanimous, tabula rasa known as the United
States of America paved the way for Amir to reciprocate the devotion that those
around him continually displayed, a devotion to sacrifice. All in all, the laborious
peregrination towards the American dream, whereas it functions as a socioeconomic
crux in the lives of many immigrants and American citizens alike, served as an
emotional climacteric, emblematic of the manner in which Amir managed to become
the culmination of Baba s only dream, a noble son. Famed photojournalist Tim

attenuated live virus vaccine in the 1960 s. Now it is rarely seen in the United
States and the rest of the medically developed world, re emerging usually only when
and where there has been a lapse in routine immunization practices and the necessary
high levels of vaccinecoverage have dropped. On a global scale, prior to the measles

31. Mountains Beyond Mountains By Tracy Kidder
Paul Farmer came from a family who had little to offer him beside their outpouring
love and sense of adventure. He had many places to call home, and would never
really get comfortable in one spot because often his family would pick up and
move. Farmer was inspired by great leadership, his father, growing up and would in
turn become a great leader on his quest to rid the world of poverty and illness.
Mountains Beyond Mountains written by Tracy Kidder, depicts Farmer s mission to
provide health care internationally and talks about all the difficulties that Farmer and
his team had to overcome.
Farmer started his work in Haiti in 1983 while it was under the dictatorship of
Baby Doc. Farmer was unable to get a position at the Hospital but he found an
alternative way to get into Haiti, Eyecare. Farmer met a woman whose name was
Ophelia Dahl. At that point in his life he thought he was going to marry her.
Although they never got married, Ophelia and Farmer would always be in each other
s lives since Ophelia becomes the President of Partners In Health. Ophelia is not a
doctor nor does she have any medical skills, she is a huge health care advocate. In
1984, Farmer started medical school at Harvard but still spent much of his time in
Haiti. Not long before he started medical school, Farmer met a man named Tom
White who, for years after meeting, would continually pour money into Partners In
Health.
Jim Yong Kim joins their team in 1988. Like Farmer, he was a medical student.

35. Peer Pressure In Teenage Movies
Bullying and peer pressure are issues that most every student in school has to deal
with. Because this is such a pertinent issue, movies are made based on these
problems. This is the teen genre. Movies from this genre are from a teenagers point
of view so they can relate to them. Heathers is a dark teen movie where the bullies
are killed off in an attempt to clean out the school. Peer pressure and bullyingare a
necessary part of the teen genre because of how big a part it takes in teen society.
Almost every film genre is based around groups of people who exist in real life.
People who are ten through nineteen make up over one tenth of the earth s
population. This creates a demand for films based upon the issues and hardships
they go through. Just like how adults can relate to movies about people barely
making enough money to pay bills or working in a boring office. Who else would
be the antagonist in a teen movie except for bullies or those who peer pressure
kids? These seem to be the biggest problems teenagers face and that is why it is
always the issue in teen movies.
Heathers starts off with a group of female teen bullies practically running a school.
One of them, Veronica Sawyer, regrets joining the group because of what she is now
involved in. Heather Chandler, the leader, peer pressures Veronica, who is evidently
a great calligraphist, into forging notes to appear to be from other people. She then
uses these notes to make people think someone else wrote them, usually

Erikson s Theory of Personality Development (psychosocial stages) Allison is in
the third psychosocial stage of personality development, which is initiative vs.
guilt (McLeod, 2013). She has already surpassed the second stage, autonomy vs.
shame, because Allison can already confidently perform tasks on her own (Cherry,
2017). Allison takes initiative when doing things that she wants, especially when
she is playing with teachers, but when she is playing with a child who is more
assertive, she will typically follow along with what that child wants. Emotions
Towards the beginning of the semester, Allison seemed to get upset much more
easily. She often would become upset seemingly out of nowhere, and would rarely
say why. Sometimes she would say it is because she missed one or both parents.
Once, on September 25, Allison abruptly started to cry during small groups, and
would not explain why. Earlier in the day, she would not eat snack, and she seemed
to feel a lot better during lunch, so it was deduced that the reason for her crying
could have most likely been hunger. Other days, she would come into class with a
grumpy or unhappy look on her face, and it would take her some time to respond to
questions from teachers or assistants. When her peers would take things from her,
accidentally hurt her, or do other things that could upset her, Allison would protest to
them and then afterwards become sad and despondent. As the semester progressed,
Allison seemed to become upset less and less frequently. She rarely cried anymore.
When other peers would do something that previously would upset, she would
protest, but afterwards continue playing, showing no signs of being affected
emotionally. For example, when Yun kept trying to take her shovel from her in the
sandbox, Allison said, Stop, Yun! and continued to play, or moved over elsewhere.
When coming to school, Allison would be smiling more often than not, and she
would respond to questions, either with smiles or verbal responses. She would
participate more during music time, and smile and sing along to songs. She also
participated more when playing with others, both outside and inside, and would laugh
frequently while playing games. Allison is able to problem solve
37. Hamlet Trapped Within The Past Essay
William Shakespeare s Hamlet: Trapped Within the Past Some people desire to
live in a time period much sooner than what they live in today, believing to fit in
better and give them their ideal life. However each time period has its own flaws,
overlooked by those wanderlusters. For example, while some wish to live in the
1950s because of the economic prosperity as well as their cars, the true reality of the
timeis often ignored when considering such factors as the fierce repression of one s
sexual orientation and extreme racism. The play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare
encapsulates a modern man placed within an inferior time. Through a historical lens,

The politics of the time could easily be defined as rotten yet it also carries a
physical entrapment for Hamlet. When he proclaims The time is out of joint; O
cursed spite. That ever I was born to set it right! (Shakespeare 35), Hamlet is
expressing that Denmark is not only a prison for himself in the religious sense, but
as well as the time he is snared where his fate is tied to, showing he is trapped in
both the physical and moral sense. Hamlet s own mindset toward the situation creates
his own mental purgatory of his own.
Although Hamlet was written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago, it
continues to reign as one of the most imitated and relevant plays of our time.
Interpretations of Shakespeare s classic tale of revenge have popped up in some
surprising places such as children s television and film, television shows, and
novels (MacNaughton). This play is commonly known to all, seen in such quotes as
To be or not to be (Shakespeare 66), along with a familiar Shakespearean image of a
man holding a skull. This play ultimately has an influence even to this day with the
parallel plots and themes of the play
38. Christian Worldview Definition
A worldview is an intrinsic part of a person. It shapes who they are, what they
believe, and how they act. It is something that each person holds on to, and lets it
shape themselves, their personality, and their interactions with other people. Senator
John Thune believes that, Having a Christian worldview shapes my decision making
with respect to all aspects of my life. I always respect people in public life who are
principled, and those principles have to connecte to something. And my faith is what
serves as the anchor and directs my actions. Yet, even though Senator Thune believes
this way, his philosophy truly affects everybody in this world. Their worldview,

This worldview, which states that truth is subject to the individual, finds popularity
among the Millennial Generation, as continuing to grow in this culture of self

clerically to Theism. The main principle of Postmodernism is to rid the world of
religion, which if assuming Atheism as a main religion, it defeats the problem the
Postmodernism tries to fight. For Postmodernists, truth is subjective. It is only found

this reason it s key to understand the causes of terrorism, methods used, stereotyping,

Terrorism is used to prove their points by using a form of destruction, but has
terrorism always been a big issue?
Even in the past terrorism has been used in an attempt to gain control and power.
The first few acts of terrorism were first recorded in the 14th century! The purposes
early terrorism was used for mostly was based on religious purposes as well as a
way to resist occupation. Because of the religious based purposes, the terrorism
was seen as a religious act. One of the first groups of terrorists were known as the
Zealots of Judea. Because the Zealots saw this as a religious act, they started to
assassinate anyone that believed were unfaithful to the dictates of Judaism while
living as a Roman subject (Terrorism). They realized how much attention it was
getting them and their religious points across, but eventually they went even farther
by committing mass suicide at the fortification of Masada (Terrorism). Terrorism
continued as the decades went by, but in the 20th century it became a method that
was used more frequently when in religious and war like situations (Garrison). One
of the biggest cases of terrorism was the Holocaust. The Holocaust was an act of
terrorism that left thousands of people scarred and dead. I would consider it an act
of terrorism because one group of people punished another for not being alike and
having the same views. Because of their differences, Jewish people
40. Water Pollution For Drinking Water
INTRODUCTION
All citizens should have access safe water. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000
citizens in the greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their
water was no longer safe. This devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill
of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM) into the Elk River just upstream from the
West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant.
In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was
asked to determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available
toxicity data, which was minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm
MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed with a warning that out of an abundance of
caution pregnant women should not drink the water. This message, rightfully,
resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated concerns
about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who
had drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on
babies born exposed pregnant women.
This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families
contemplating having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the
citizens exposed to the chemical spill. Additionally, this memo discusses the broader
context of public health in the community as it relates to environmental safety and
justice.

called change market for technology. Secondly, according to more than 20 year long
experience of joint venture with other countries, we can know that it is unwise for
domestic enterprises to continue to take this way to develop themselves. The last
point is our country complement another policy independently innovates.
2.1.2 Shanghai s situation For the situation of Shanghai, Shanghai s government
found a special way to develop economy by encouraging and supporting enterprise s
acquisition. Under these situations, SAIC took advantage of those political factors to
purchase SSANG YONG Motor Company. As we know that, an enterprise can not
exist without the support of the government. In addition, it will be better if there are
some policies from which enterprises can benefit. Under the policy change market for
technology, policy independently innovates, and the support of Shanghai s
government,

43. The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2014
Many pieces of literature are written each year, and each year dedicated high school
students come together to read any type of literature ranging from plays, poetry,
graphic novels to podcasts. Out of all the pieces of literature the students read, the
students will debate which piece they believe is best. Once all these pieces are
chosen, an anthology is created, The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2014 . In
the introduction of this book, Lemony Snicketclaims, the most passionate and
interesting pieces of writingdivide a literary team (Snicket xii). Literary pieces divide
people in their opinions since the pieces allow readers to interpret the pieces
differently and gives the readers a sense of mystery.

This essay suggests that the narrator is drowning, Looking back, I wonder why all
of us who were subject to my grandfather s assaults me, my sisters, my cousins, and
my mother, her sister, their cousins before us didn t display more unmistakable
signs of distress (Morgan 322). This quote suggests that the narrator feels like she
is drowning, because the author states that drowning is quiet, and that is what the
narrator doing, keeping quiet by not saying anything. Readers could interpret the
drowning swimmers as depressed people or the swimmers in distress as the people
who experience temporary panic, like students panicking over an essay. The
swimmers in distress are the people who panic over something that will eventually
pass, because they feel as if there is hope for them. If readers do not interpret the
narrator as depressed, they may say that narrator did not say anything because she
did not know what to say, and writing this essay was enough to speak out.
Essays found in the anthology are compelling because of the way certain concepts
were expressed in the essays. The authors do not fully give away what happens
after the essay or what each thing symbolizes. These pieces give the readers a sense
of mystery. When a sense of mystery is given, people are able to debate what happens
in the piece. The essay, The Body by A.T Grant is a great example of this because
when a reader first reads
44. Est1 Task 1 Local Government
Establishing a formal government on the newly secured property called Pequena Isla
would take a great deal of consideration to ensure prosperity in the future.
Local government
Pequena Isla will use a general purpose and perform essential services such as law
enforcement, park services, maintaining roads, human services and public works
(Dye MacManus, 2015). To ensure quality educational services, they will also use a
special purpose government to establish and maintain school districts (Dye
MacManus, 2015).
Form of government
A rural county government would make for an excellent political structure while
giving the residents common services. It would also give private businesses
opportunities for maintenance, healthcare, waste disposal services, and recreational
services, which would not only bring business and jobs but more citizens as well.

Management system
To allow future growth Pequena Isla will utilize the more professional and versatile
county administrator structure Isla. This type of government would let the local
elected officials work on the legislative aspects while hiring a highly qualified
individual to manage the county operations. It would also be beneficial because some
of the elected county members may not be experienced leading a county, but this
would give the count the opportunity to hire a knowledgeable and capable person to
manage the county.
Leadership instatement
Pequena Isla will have three county commissioners that are elected into office every
four years overlapping to ensure an experienced commissioner is in office at all
times ((Dye MacManus, 2015). They will

Hearst
Although Hearst denounced the corruption amongst capitalists of his own stature,
regardless of his own tarnished name, a recently uncovered letter from Berlin to
Hearst proves his collusion with federal investigators commissioned by congress in
the hunt for communist infiltration in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. The
letter claims that Hearst s people have the complete assurance from [their] friends in
Washington that the result of the investigation made by them ... of the motion picture
industry is available to [them] ... This should be extremely valuable (History).
Furthermore, Hearst used his Yellow Press to push allegations of communist activity

Theatre Project. In his attacks on Hollywood and the Federal Theatre Project, Hearst
was driven by selfish and possibly personal ulterior motives. Between the Federal
Theatre Project, Hollywood, and William Randolph Hearstexists one very crucial
connection, Orson Welles(Allen, Carmichael). The Boy Wonder entertainer, who at
21 years old directed the groundbreaking play The Cradle Will Rock , which
criticized public figures just like Hearst. But it isn t the production of this play that
brought young Welles ever promising career to an abrupt halt, to this William

literature to allude to the ostentatious capitalist figures of the times. Figures like

47. Nuclear Testing And The Cuban Missile Crisis
The development of nuclear weapons through out the cold war period, had led the
world to believe that a nuclear war was soon on its way. The evolution of nuclear
testing and the Cuban missile crisis indicated how far each state was ready to go to
ensure their ideological interests were pursued and at the same time their global
superpower status was retained. Such techniques depicted peace as simply an
expression with no significance. However, measures were established to guarantee
the acceleration of nuclear weapons was controlled and didn t get out of hand. The
marking of different arms treaties and limit arrangements demonstrated co
operation between the two superpowers, bringing about no immediate clash,
guaranteeing peace was kept and war was prevented. War would now be disastrous
for either side and therefore peace was necessary and possible (Kennedy pipe,
2007, p.122). As both powers possessed nuclear weapons and with pressures running
high, a move had to be made with the main goal being the preservation of peace. The
positions which the superpowers had arrived at by 1969 regarding nuclear capability
clearly demonstrated that each state was gaining strength in the field of arms. The
only way the nuclear weapons contest could be slowed down or bought to an end
would be through shared co operation. This came through the SALT, START and the
ABM settlements. The threat which nuclear weapons posed meant that world peace
was potentially at risk. In the event that
48. Counseling Reflection
Introduction The purpose of this reaction paper is to introduce the reader to my
early perceptions of my own personal style and theory of counseling. At this early
stage in my training, I would attest to the fact that this is not as easy as it may
sound, particularly when I am still being acquainted with the multitude of counseling
theories and style frameworks since the inception of the counseling field. That said,
since it is a necessity of this paper as required by this course in Introduction to
Counseling Techniques, I would venture to say that an eclectic approach would be
my early adopted framework. Obviously, since Carl Rogers person centered
theoretical approach is inherent in modern counseling techniques, it is an early part...

On the other hand, a disadvantage of person centered therapy may be that it becomes
an endless back and forth between the same small, never changing ball of players;
core conditions, actualizing tendency, frame of reference, or locus of evaluation
(Biles, 2016). In my estimation of what Biles stipulated in the paraphrase above, he
feels as though the core conditions of person centered therapy (e.g. 1. Psychological
contact; 2. Client incongruence, 3; Therapist congruence; 4. Therapist unconditional
positive regard; 5. Therapist empathy; and 6. Communication of 4. and 5.) are
somewhat artificial, dogmatic and insufficient (in isolation) for client change (Biles,
2016). In other words, person centered theory implies that the techniques of other
therapies are relatively unimportant except to the extent they serve as channels for
fulfilling the core therapeutic conditions of person centered therapy (Biles, 2016).
Rogers himself wrote a short paper in which he proclaimed that his theory has often
been seriously misunderstood. Essentially, reflecting on the fact that people have
turned the core conditions into shoulds or musts ; you should be empathetic, or you
must have unconditional positive regard. It is not as though you can tell yourself to
be empathetic and immediately be there. What Rogers said, if the core conditions
exist, then change is
49. Ivf Essay
[pic] In vitro fertilisation (IVF) marks a great step forward in medical technology,
and Australia is a leader in the field. IVF is now a popular procedure for couples
who are infertile or are having trouble conceiving. However, it raises ethical, moral
and legal issues including the rights of an individual, property rights, the definition
of human life, scientific experimentation versus a potential human life, religion,
costs, and community, medical and taxpayer s rights. The process of IVF involves
mixing the woman s egg and the man s sperm outside of the woman s body, usually
in a petri dish. Invitro fertilisation literally means fertilisation in glassware . If the

However, with such low statistics it is important to keep in mind that each
infertile couple may go through many cycles of IVF; therefore it could end up
costing them tens of thousands of dollars. On the other hand, with Australia s
declining birth rate, we should provide more encouragement for people to have
children, instead of making them pay thousands of dollars. Unfortunately for
infertile couples, infertility is not considered a health problem, and therefore it is
not funded by the government. Is it fair that only financially able infertile couples
can afford IVF, when it should be available to all infertile couples? An issue that
has caused great legal debate is the freezing of eggs and embryos. Freezing allows
savings eggs or embryos for later implantation; not all are used. However, frozen
embryos and eggs generally have a lower success rate. The question arises of what
happens to them if the couple decides to divorce, or one or both of them dies?
These situations have been decided through court determinations. In 1987, the
status of frozen embryos was brought before the Victorian courts with the case of
Mr and Mrs Rios, who had died in a plane crash. The embryos from Mr and Mrs
Rios had been frozen in 1981. There were many ethical and moral concerns regarding
this case. Should the embryos remain frozen indefinitely, be donated, or kept for
research? The Infertility (Medical Procedures) Act

52. Soccer Is The Most Popular Essay
Football, futbol, soccer, the beautiful game as Pele calls it, or whatever you call it,
is the most popular sport in the world. Though it is ultra popular, that doesn t mean
that you know the rules, history, or popularity of the sport, and that is when this
paper proves useful. I am going to inform you about soccer s history, popularity
around the world, necessary equipment, and rules. Firstly, let s explore the history
and popularity of the sport. The earliest form of soccer that is known was played by
soldiers keeping in shape in China around 5000 B.C. The game consisted of a fur
stuffed leather ball being kicked into a small hole. The FA was formed in 1863, and
FIFAwas formed in Paris, France in 1904. Now, as for popularity, as mentioned
before, soccer is the most popular sport worldwide. Also, there are approximately 250
million soccer players worldwide. (FootballBritannica Online Encyclopedia) Next up,

The pitch is a rectangle with two short goal lines and a halfway line dividing the
pitch into two halves. As for the ball, it has to have a circumference of 27 to 28
inches. In professional soccer, the ball used is a size 5. If the ball is kicked out of
bounds on the sides, it gets thrown in by a player from the other team. If the ball gets
kicked out on the line extending from the goal posts, it is either kicked in by the
goalie or a player from the corner. If a player tackles another player too dangerously
or an array of other fouls, a yellow card or a red card are given depending on the
severity of the foul. Two yellow cards equal a red card, and if a player gets a red card,
they are removed from the game and their team plays shorthanded. Of course no
hands are allowed except for the goalkeeper. A game consists of two 45 minute
halves, but the clock doesn t stop so the referee usually adds a short few minutes
after each halve called stoppage time. That is about all you need to know as far as
53. Reverse Mortgage
We often have to make some tough decisions, as we get older every day. If you are
caring for an elderly relative, the choice of whether to move them to a care home is
a difficult one. Emotions at this time are likely to be running high. But there is an
alternative that not many people realize. Your relative could sell your own home
with the help of a reverse mortgage.
Can Seniors Sell Their Home After Getting a Reverse Mortgage?
When it comes to selling one s home after taking a reverse mortgage, many seniors
find much of the available reverse mortgage information confusing. The fact is
seniors can choose to sell their homes at any time, but they should be aware that
doing so will make their loan due. To get the most from the investment, ... Show more

Reverse mortgages become due once all borrowers named on loan die. If there are
two borrowers, both individuals must pass away before their lender can require
repayment.
Since the borrowers would not be in a position to repay the loan themselves, the
responsibility would be handed down to their heirs. In this case, the borrowers heirs
would have three main choices: sign the deed over to the bank, sell the home, or
refinance the loan. If the balance of the loan exceeds the home value, heirs could
avoid the responsibility of selling the house by signing the residence over to the
lender.
If the home is worth more than the loan balance, heirs will benefit more from
selling the house themselves. As long as the individuals make a reasonable effort
to sell the home, the lender should give them 12 months to find a buyer. Once the
house is sold, the lender will be repaid, and the borrowers heirs will keep any
remaining funds. It is, however, essential to understanding that the lender will expect
the home to be sold for its appraised value. If the selling price is much lower than the
estimated cost, the lender might require additional payment. It keeps people from
taking advantage of lenders by selling homes to family or friends at much discounted
54. Margaret Cullen s Mindfulness-Based Interventions Analysis
Mindfulness based interventions (MBI) piqued the Western world s interests through;
its beneficial capabilities in stress reduction while enhancing the practitioner s overall
well being. Margaret Cullen s suggests MBI programs have created this lineage for a
new American Dharma (p.190). This emerging trend incorporates Eastern
philosophies and practices, in secularized settings, so that practitioners learn to
incorporate these foundations in coping with their emotional, psychological, and
physical challenges. In this context, the practice has the capability to liberate the mind
from greed, hatred, and delusion (187). This involves a non devotional space, that

Namely, Buddhist scholars and some monastics, are troubled about the subsequential
lineage arising from MBSR programs, specifically how they might be diluting the
rich teachings from various Buddhist schools and traditions (p. 189). With regards to
Buddhist traditions, a vow of ethical behavior is required before engaging in
meditation training. Reason being, vows provide structure of safety for retreatants and
monastics, and useful in purifying the mind for deeper practice (p.189) Reputably,
Cullen s illustrates that Jon Kabat Zin cultivated formal and informal practices of
mindfulness, focusing on Vipassana Buddhist traditions. On the grounds that, this
application, refrains from deep cultural influences compared to other Buddhist
schools tradition and practices. This merger of Vipassana traditions in mainstream
settings, still uphold original formal practices of the tradition, including; mindful
movement (yoga that places emphasis on mindful awareness of the body), body scans
(first foundation of mindfulness), sitting meditation (awareness of breath and
extending awareness to include all four foundations of mindfulness) (p.188).
Intentions of these MBSR programs are not solely based on stress reduction, but, the
application of four foundations in daily life. According to Cullen is
55. Argumentative Essay On Screen Time
Technology has been part of our daily live more frequently than before. Screen
time has been more popularly used on kids and adolescents. On a daily bases many
kids seem to spend more time inside on their tablets, instead of having to spend time
with other kids. This is a problem that is becoming more popular over the years,on
whether kids need to spend that much time on technology or not. Parents either seem
to have strict technology usage, or they either don t. There has always been a huge
controversy with experts, who either think that screen time is beneficial or could
cause problems later on in life. There are many views towards this topic, from hurting
kids brains, to helping them during school, and socially. Many people, including...

In order to balance both there has to be comparative with the parents. Technology
isn t good nor bad. It can only benefit the child if the parents put a limit to their time
in the screen. Parents need to set up a schedule in where the kids will follow the
time the kids will be using the tablet/ phone. As well have time to play with other
kids, and just interact with there own family member. In the article, Screen time:
A guide for parents states, keeping computers out of the bedroom, and keep them in
a common area in your house. This will make sure that the child isn t using their
computers/ tablets during the time they have to rest. Kids need to have a good
rest, and not having technology in their rooms because it could cause irregular
sleep. Just having the parent take action in how much kids need to spend time in
the screens can be a good start. Luscombe argues, Take away the idea that all
screens are bad, but the face to face time for young people is an important part of
the socialization process . Parents seem to not understand that children need to
develop good social skills, and that can only be done by interacting with others, and
get a sense on others points of views. Parents need to stop giving the kids technology
to keep them quiet for a while, because at the end it s hurting the child
