Gavrilo Princip Research Paper
Gavrilo Princip was an extremely influential person in the history of the world. Princip was born
on July 25th, 1894 in Obljaj, Bosnia. He left his childhood home at the age of thirteen to go and
live with his older brother, Jovo. On October 5, 1908, Bosnia was annexed from the Austro
Hungarian Empire. Serbian nationalists believed this was unfair and took the Bosnian territory
from them. This caused secret societies to begin. One was called Narodna Odbrana, National
Defense, and the other was Ujedinjenje ili Smrt, which means Unification or Death , also known
as The Black Hand (Gavrilo Princip Facts). The Black Hand was created in 1911 and Princip was
moved up into the society in 1912. This group trained and recruited people to act as terrorists,
setting Princips mind on eliminating the government official of the Austro Hungarian Empire...

Anti Semitism was going on before World War II, but the war enhanced the discrimination. Death
camps were slowly being built all across Poland and Germany in the early 1930 s leading up the
war. Nuremberg Laws were created in 1935 and the defined Jewish people by blood and called for
an order to separate Hitler s views of Aryans from non Aryans (Anti Semitism). Six million Jewish
civilians were killed. After the war, anti semitism continued all the up to modern day history. This is
still a problem the world is dealing with.Throughout history there have been many massacres and
violent riots against Jews (Anti Semitism). Most of the time, these acts are encouraged by
government personnel. The government has gotten so involved with anti semitism throughout
Europe, and around the entire world, that their have become political groups based on it. Towards
the end of the 19th century, Germany, Austria, and France all created political parties centered
around anti semitism. The history of these anti semitic countries will continue to shape the future of

Utilitarianism Outline
1. Thesis Statement: John Stuarts Mills Theory of Utilitarianism is correct and valid as it was
then.2. State what you will argue: Utilitarianism gives us a quantifiable method to live one s life,
Utilitarianism affirms the importance of happiness as the goal of human life, finally it has a clear
defined goal in maximizing good and minimizing bad.3. Transition: His theory remains relevant
because it gives us a practical rules to live by.
1.Topic Sentence: Utilitarianism gives us a quantifiable method to live one s life. 2. Explanation:

2. Explanation: Mills innovates by prioritizing and connecting pleasure with happiness. Pleasure
itself is a virtue. Utilitarianism acknowledges individual actions that benefit the greatest number. It
affirms majority happiness and individual general happiness. In simple terms it affirms all actions
need to be guided towards attaining happiness. As a result this keys this utilitarianism valid, because
happiness is universally sought. 3.Quote: Robert. H.Hoag explains in Happiness and Freedom:
Recent Work on John Stuart Mill Thus, on Mill s view, pleasures, virtue, money, fame, in
individuality, and power can be desired or desirable both as ends and as means to happiness,
both as parts of and in relation to happiness. (Pg. 6) 4. Analysis: Utilitarianism can be simply
seen as maximizing happiness for the greatest number while mitigating pain. While valid, it
affirms human desire. It shows that it s ok for people to desire grandoise. For anything is
accessible to one s life. Thus utilitarianism remains valid because it promotes all human pursuits.
As long as it s in relation to one s happyiness and generates minimal suffering. In effect your own
happyiness should promote the happiness of others. Thus this will mill s theory valid. 5.

Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
Considering the Legal Requirements
The Exxon Valdez oil spill that took place on March 24, 1989, was responsible for an enormous
amount of damage to the natural environment of Alaska. Animal life and plant life alike, were
severely harmed from this disastrous spill. Being such a high risk company, one would assume
that the legal requirements surrounding the company policy were prioritized. Due to the scope of
the disaster though, one may wonder just how strict the requirements were that governed the
operations of Exxon. Even if there were rules in place, how well were they being followed by
Exxon employees? What were the legal requirements that governed the operations of Exxon? Did
the people responsible for this disaster consider these? In the following discussion, these are
examined from a moral analysis point of view.
After a broad investigation that lead to many lawsuits and fines, it was clear that multiple factors
contributed to the Exxon disaster. The Coast Guard and the National Transportation Society were
two of several agencies that provided rules and regulations for Exxon. These agencies found
violations that Exxon committed that lead to the disaster. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the time of the Exxon disaster, it was found that Captain Joseph Hazelwood s blood alcohol

crew fatigue. Tankers in the 1950s carried a crew of 40 to 42 to manage about 6.3 million

King County Demographic Analysis
Women in King County during the year of 2013 were surveyed and the survey showed a wide
variety of fertility rates. The American Community Survey surveyed women ages 20 34, 35 50,
native born, foreign born, and in labor force in King County. Below are five maps that were
classified of equal interval to show the fertility rate in women among the demographics in King
County. The choropleth maps were classified of equal interval because it was easily read among
the other classification and it indicated the values compared to one another. The fertility rate of
women ages 20 34, in Figure 1, shows fertility rates varying more spatially. Women ages 20 34

Impact of British Imperialism
In the late 1800 s, European nations only controlled about 10 percent of the continent of Africa,
France to the north and Britain to the south (Edgar, 2008). As time goes by, other countries gain
conquests, mostly in western areas of Africa. This essay will go over a few key points in history
that led to the Age of Imperialism and the British colonization of Southern Africa. The essay will
also identify key players in this age. Southern Africa was known for its gold and other valuable
items that made it so appealing to Europeans. This and many other reasons led to wars over the
areas that had high gold content.

Britain was also interested in areas known to be rich in minerals like the country of Transvaal,
(David, 2011). They also aimed at keeping other countries out of their territories so as to not lose
the upper hand in the search for gold and priceless gems. Because of this plan to keep other
countries out, by the late 1800 s Britain was in control of about 30% of Africa s population.
Although the plan to abolish slavery, set down by the regulations put out by the Berlin conference,
slavery still flourished in the Congo. A French missionary by the name of Cardinal Charles
Lavigerie, exposes King Leopold as the sole profiteer of slave trade in the Congo, (David, 2011).
So at a sermon in Paris at St. Sulpice in 1888, Lavigerie shocked the people with the horrible
things King Leopold s men were subjecting the natives of Africa to (David, 2011). At this,
Brussels Conference, King Leopold would agree to abolish Arab slave trade in return for the right
to tax imports, (David, 2011).
On the subject of African Resistance, conflicts between natives did not change during the invasion
from outside nations. Those that were in conflict stayed in conflict. Because of this continuing
conflict, there was not unification of the people of Africa to rise up against these invaders and take
back what is theirs, (Talton). There were to ways that the resistance was being handled, by

External and Internal Factors
External and Internal Factors
Management is the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational
goals (Bateman Schnell, 2003, p. 14). The four functions of management are planning, organizing,
leading, and controlling. Internal and external factors such as rapid change, technology, and
diversity impact the four functions of management. This paper will focus on these three factors and
their impact on Verizon. The successful application of the four management functions when dealing
with these factors, impact the success and failures of Verizon, as well as all other organizations.

Organizing these meetings has gone from dependence on resource availability to selecting from
a variety of meeting options such as teleconferencing, web share meetings, and conference calls.
Technology has also impacted the means of leading a team. Projects are no longer initiated and
supervised on site. Today, a manager has the ability to run a project remotely thanks to advances
such as instant messaging, remote call forwarding, and wireless internet access. A project team
leader can receive a call, go online for answers, and electronically forward documentation to the
team from a remote location, or the comfort of his home. Perhaps the most effective impact
technology has is how quickly results can be measured when monitoring the success of a project.
Once a project is complete, tools such as shared databases allow each team member to monitor
results real time, and apply necessary changes. Technology also impacts Verizon externally.
Advancements in communication delivery by a competitor often cause a planned project to be
altered. The popularity of Nextel s walkie talkie feature gave Verizon incentive to adjust focus its
planned rollout of a similar service. Other competitive technological advances, such as broadband,
drove Verizon to explore new ways to organize resources in order to meet the competitive

Understand The Relationship Between Health And Leisure...
Everyone in society partakes in leisure. Leisure may be in the form of watching TV, gardening,
fishing or playing a sport. The reasoning behind leisure participation also varies, individuals may
partake in leisure for health benefits, because of their friends are or simply, because they enjoy the
activity. It is important for leisurepractitioners too not only understand the health benefits leisure
provides an individual, but to also understand what motivates individuals to partake in leisure and
what types of barriers and constraints they may have to overcome for successful leisure
participation to occur. For the purpose of this essay the concepts extrinsic and intrinsic motivation,
self efficacy and learned helplessness will be explored.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An external stimulus results in individual s partaking in activities because there are rewards if
they partake or there is a punishment if they do not (Recours, Souville Griffet, 2004, p. 3). Rather
than doing something voluntarily for their enjoyment there is a reason they partake in the activity,
for example sporting activities may offer trophies and rewards (Iso Ahola, 1989,p. 255). This
extrinsic reward may motivate individuals to join sporting teams to receive a trophy or reward.
Extrinsic rewards can therefore undermine intrinsic motivation by rewarding individuals for
something they enjoy doing (Iso Ahola, 1999, p. 43). Extrinsic motivation can result in the feeling
of being controlled and restricted (Iso Ahola, 1999, p.43). The rewards and sanctions can also
affect behaviour, cognitive abilities, creativity and emotions (Iso Ahola, 1999, p. 43).
In the Mr Mathews case study, he assists at the nursing home and this is an example of being
intrinsically motivated. After the death of his wife he no longer visits the nursing home, and an
example of extrinsic motivation would be if the nursing home offered Mr Mathews a monetary
reward for assisting (Harvey, 2015). In this sense there would be a reward for Mr Mathews to
return to the nursing home and assist with the activities, in the form of money. The money would

What Was The Compromise Of 1877-1960
1877 1960 s in our country is something to be remembered. It was a time of segregation, not
only forced by the government, but enforced by the KKK as well. The Compromise of 1877,
Jim Crow law, and Plessy v Fergusson were the events that shaped us into the nation we are
today. 1865 1877 was when everything within the nation was thriving. Most freed slaves were
learning to read and write, and were indulging in everything our country had to offer them.
Agriculture was at an all time high, and there didn t seem to be an end in sight. But as the sun
sets in November 1876, it rose upon a new nation, a land engulfed in hatred, segregation, and fear.
The Compromise of 1877 is best clarified when the election of 1876 is explained in detail. The

When you click on a link in Google, you re connected with the target information fairly directly.
Someone accessing the same site while connected through Tor would have their request bounced

A Christmas Prince Analysis
A Christmas Prince is a holiday fairy tale with a picturesque mythical mountain kingdom, Christmas
violins, a shimmering castle ball, and horses prancing through the snow. A smart and beautiful but
mildly dishonest heroine and a handsome prince complete the picture. It s a familiar story, but has
enough charm and even a few twists to add a little bitof suspense. Other than a brief moment with
a menacing wolf and a fall from a horse, there s no jeopardy and no real suspense. The movie is
filled with wholesome messages about staying true to oneself and listening to your heart.

Browned and lightly charred on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, a perfectly grilled
steak has the power to make grown men cry. But on the contrary a dry, overcooked steak can

The Longissimus dorsi are a pair of long, tender muscles that run down either side of the spine of

four types of steaks that should be considered when buying steaks. The ribeye, coming from the

Assignment 1: Research Analysis and Proposal
The Affect of Emotional Intelligence on Effective Leadership
Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage one s own and others in order to guide one s
behavior and achieve goals (Salovey, Mayer, 2005). In simple words, EI is the ability to
perceive, control, and evaluate emotions, that is, to regulate your own emotions, and the ability to
cheer up or calm down another person. Building on the work of Mayor and Salovey (1997) and
others, Goleman (1998) further suggested that there are five critical pillars or competencies of EI,
namely self awareness; self regulation; self motivation; social awareness (empathy); and social
skills. According to Merriam Webster website... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Salovey, Mayer and Caruso four branch model of emotional intelligence, it is
through the establishment of these strong interpersonal relationships that allow for leaders to
generate motivation and instill optimism and enthusiasm within his/her followers. Being able to
accurately appraise and express emotions ensures the effective communication between individuals
and thus provides them with a deeper understanding of the people they work with (Carmeli, 2013,
p791). By creating an atmosphere of cooperation and having an improved perception of emotion,
followers will be more supportive of a leader s decisions and thus be more obliged to appreciate and
promote the organization s objectives (Zeidner et al, 2004, p387). The ability to communicate
effectively with followers allows a leader to connect on an individual basis and to inspire and share
collective visions with the team. Goleman cited in Lam and O Higgins (2010, p151), Empathy... is
the fundamental people skill. showing the concept of social intelligence overlapping with that of

Additionally, Costco has its own brand named Kirkland Signature. This store label produces

The last element is the amp;quot;treasure hunt amp;quot; thing. Costco buy brand named product

Bine Drinking Vs Binge Drinking
America perfectly represents the ideals of the Enlightenment: the land of the free and the home
of the brave; a nation in which citizens can choose who they want to be and what they want to
do. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the colonists relied on each other for support and no
one could afford the luxury of a peaceful, secluded life. That emphasis on sociability became a
part of the American identity. Lung cancer has declined steadily over the last thirty years
(Cancer Statistics Report), but liver cancer incidents have tripled over that time period as
Americans are binge drinking now more than ever (Key Statistics About Liver Cancer). While,
at times, smoking can be social and drinking can be anti social, America s emphasis on
gregariousness causes society to hypocritically scorn smoking but tolerate binge drinking
because smoking is an anti social activity whereas binge drinking is a social activity.
Advertisement posters against smoking and binge drinking differ because of the USA s cultural
values, particularly due to the solidarity of smoking versus the camaraderie of drinking. Although
binge drinking is typically considered four drinks for women and five drinks for men in a two
hour span, this fails to account for someone s height, weight, and food consumed, and therefore
many people have no idea if they are binge drinking or not, causing some to black out (Drinking
Levels Defined). A photo of a passed out teenage girl with embarrassing sayings written in sharpie

Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Adapted from content excerpted from the American ExpressВ® OPEN Small Business Network
Proper bookkeeping is important to sustaining and expanding a business. Without it, you run the
risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand.
When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of
bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your
business activity. As long as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should
be as simple as possible.
The general guidelines here outline what you must take care of and provide ideas for how to keep

Keep a log of each category of expense, for tax purposes and write yourself a check for the total.
Write cash reimbursable in your check register to differentiate this from taxable income.
Alternatively, you can keep a petty cash record by writing a check to petty cash and keeping a log
of each expense paid out of petty cash.
Inventory Records
Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory
holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things.
If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might
want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by
having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do
it yourself on paper.
The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item
purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price.
Accounts Receivable
If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable
tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a
later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor
accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts
receivable record. Either way, the information you need to capture includes: invoice date,

Essay On Natural Immunity Against Malaria
Natural Immunity against malaria:
Natural immunity against asexual stage parasites develops with repetitive exposure to malaria
parasites and thus forms the basis of clinical immunity against malaria (Baird, Jones et al. 1991,
Day and Marsh 1991, Trape, Rogier et al. 1994, Baird 1995, Baird 1998, Hviid 2005). Though
clinical immunity to malaria has been shown to develop in individuals, it does not prevent
reinfection due to several factors including the complex life cycle of the parasite and insufficiency
of the magnitude of effective antibodies. Susceptibility to P. falciparum was shown to be
independent of the number of years of exposure to the parasite, and age dependent protective
immunity developed over a two year period of repeated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2012, Aguilar, Magallon Tejada et al. 2014, Joice, Nilsson et al. 2014)while the mature stage V
gametocytes are observed in the blood. These newly formed gametocytes developing as
intraerythrocytic stages present several new antigens to the human immune system during each
infection cycle. These immunologically identifiable forms are clear targets for the host immune
system and both innate and adaptive immune responses are expected to become active against
them. Naturally acquired antibodies against gametocytes exist (Graves, Carter et al. 1988, Paul,
Vengesai et al. 2016, Bansal, Vengesai et al. 2017, Gebru, Ajua et al. 2017) and may play a role in
controlling transmission by limiting the gametocyte development in the circulation or by
interrupting gamete development and fertilization in the mosquito following ingestion. In particular
antibodies against Pfs48/45 and Pfs230 gametocyte proteins effectively target male and female
gamete surface and block mosquito stage development of the malaria parasites.
Analysis of investigations carried out in areas of different malaria endemicity have shown wide
variation in the frequency and prevalence of these antibodies (Bousema and Drakeley 2011).
Studies have demonstrated that while natural immunity does develop against sexual stages, little is
known about age dependent pattern of the antibodies. Age dependency of the humoral response can
be associated with repetitive exposure to the parasite (Graves, Wirtz et al. 1988,

Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, Power Relationships...
Introduction This essay explores how unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) are
oppressed in the UK. An unaccompanied asylum seeking child is a person under the age of
eighteen who has left their country of origin in order to seek refuge and is separated from both
parents and are not being cared for by an adult who, by law or custom has responsibility to do so
(UNHCR, 1994:121). They are therefore applying for asylum in their own right. Discrimination is
the process of identifying that someone is different and, due to this difference, treating them
unfairly (Thompson, 2006). Xenoracism is discrimination that is aimed at people specifically
because they are from a different country, and are therefore strangers (Sivanandan,... Show more

Power is the capacity to act in such a way as to control others (Harris, 1997:28). He argues that
everyone has at least some power, and that this power, for the relatively powerless, can be used
to influence the decisions of the dominant group. Unaccompanied asylum seeking children not
disclosing information can be seen as them exercising the little power they have. This can
however have a negative impact on their lives in the UK, for example, being placed under
section 17 of the Children Act instead of under section 20, which would offer the child more
support. Foucault (1977) uses discourse to relate to how language can be used to construct ideas
and thoughts about groups. Discourses and language can therefore help construct or reduce
oppression (Thompson, 2006). If a group has power, they have the ability and opportunity to
fulfil or obstruct personal, relational, or collective needs (Prilleltensky, 2008). If the dominant
discourse of a less powerful group is positive, the group with power may help that group fulfil
their needs. If the dominant discourse of a less powerful group is negative, such as with UASC,
the powerful group may obstruct them in fulfilling their needs, and therefore will cause oppression.
Innes (2010) argues that the negative discourse of asylum seekers as a threat to British society is
portrayed in government literature

His biggest recent success was in persuading some say paying Lebanon s rival parties to come

Therefore, planned pregnancy is a huge key factor in preventing birth defects, because often times
birth defects develop even before women might know they are pregnant. Because women don t
know they are pregnant, they may consume alcohol, causing harm to their babies. Smoking causes
harm to infants before, during, and after pregnancies. Even in the womb nicotine, carbon monoxide,
and many other poisons women inhale from cigarettes are carried through their bloodstream.
Smoking while pregnant causes many developmental issues including birth defects, lung problems,
stunted growth, increase in babies heart rates, low birth weight, or result in stillbirths. However,
there are many other agents known to cause these developmental defects. For example, drugs and
other medications such as; thalidomide, isotretinoin, valproic acid, methotrexate, and
mycophenolate mofetil are also known to cause the same birth defects (Simeone, et al., 2015).

Interpreting Dinosaur Habitats
1) How are sedimentary rocks used to interpret past dinosaur habitats? How is the geologic principle
of uniformitarianism used for this type of interpretation?
Sedimentary rocks interpret dinosaur habitats through encased environmental structures of the past.
Through sedimentary rocks, paleoecologists can examine the arranged formation of sedimentary
structures to specify what type of environment the dinosaurs lived in. An example of a specific
sedimentary rock structure can be seen through formed weathering and ripple marks by how wind
and sand formed distinct patterns in the past layered sediment. These arrangements provide
interpretations on the structure of the sediment and the habitat of encased fossils, through modern

Ichnology, the study of trace fossils, is the principal study in following and learning about trace
fossils and how these fossil types indicate habitats. Ichnologists can use trace fossils, such as a

which can express a dinosaur species preferred habitat. By examining sedimentary layers and
structures, ichnologists can use fossilized tracks to determine what specific habitat a species of
dinosaur lived in. The use of uniformitarianism can be used to conclude what specific environment
a dinosaur lived in through sedimentary structures. Ichnology uses tracks to determine what habitat
a dinosaur inhabited by the pattern that a dinosaur walked in. With nests, Ichnologists can use
information to determine what habitat a species of dinosaur lived in to ensure a safe environment

Steal The Baudelaire The Art Of Creativity
When individuals ask about creativity, typically they have pre conceived notion of what is
creativity. Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing
classes that are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly
creative are individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativityis one s own perspective; what
one accepts as ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s
proven this statement by using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as

Unlike math, science, history, and physical education classes, you can fully examine your

of how endless classes can all be useless if your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a
fraction of their studying time for a creative class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger
and fending for themselves in reality would be easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a

remembering formulas, or learning names, failure is inevitable. When the Baudelaire parents were

A Comparison Of The American Dream And All My Sons
Alrighty, I am going to kind of mash together question one and two. I wanted to discuss the
American Dream and All My Sons, but I also think that topic really, nicely goes into the relevance
it has today.
The American Dream can be worded and defined in different ways. But as stated in Question 1,
The American Dream can be defined as the idea that in the US anyone can become successful
through hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. I think that is a definition that everyone can agree
on, more or less. The Cambridge Dictionary also defines the American Dream, the belief that
everyone in the US has the chance to be successful and happy if they work hard. Also as stated in
Question 1, All My Sons is often described as a negative critique of the American Dream.
I m sure we can all immediately recognize and understand what Joe Keller did is wrong and goes
against what you would think the American Dream is. He kept information from authorities
about the cylinders so he could get out of jail. Deever was kept in jail because of Keller s lies.
Not only that, but 21 pilots died too. There is a huge moral and ethical responsibility to tell the
truth and do the right thing. However, Keller lied and kept information so that he could make
money and get out of jail..again, leaving Deever to sit in prison. Keller never thought about
Deever, only himself and his company. During the time of the incident (1947) stress was high and
they had to make quick decisions. All of the companies

Art In The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction
In order to properly argue my point it is best to lay out the framework of Benjamin s argument.
Benjamin begins his essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by briefly
distinguishing his categories from traditional aesthetic values, those of creativity and genius,
eternal value and mystery (Benjamin, 218). In contrast, he relates these tendencies to bourgeois
and fascist ideologies and to the conditions, inevitably generated out of capitalism itself, which
provoke revolutionary demands in the politics of art (217 8) Benjamin claims that in times past
the role of art has been to provide a magical foundation for the cult. Here the artwork s use value
was located in its central position within ritual and religious tradition (223 4). A statue or idol
conveyed a sense of authority, or magical power, which inhered in that particular historical
artifact. The reproduction in mass of such an item would have been unthinkable because it was a
unique singularity, and it would lose its aura . He focuses on describing the objects aura, defining
the aura as: We define the aura of the later as the unique phenomenon of a distance, however close
it may be. If, while resting on a summer afternoon, you follow with your eyes a mountain range on
the horizon or a branch which casts its shadow over you, you experience the aura of those
mountains, of that branch (222 3). The term implies an atmosphere and a transcendent feeling that
happens when you experience an object.

Critical Appreciation Of Alfred Prufrock
Alfred Prufrock was a depressed old man that questioned things with such a creative mind that
make people stop and really question it themselves. The vibe that Alfred expresses while
speaking draws the listener in with an almost unnerving sadness. They way the Alfred speaks
can move the reader as they do not know whom he is speaking to. Of course, much more thought
has to be put into his words because the answer to how he feels is not given and you have to
really look for it. He seems to look at the glass as if it is half empty. These are just a couple of
suggestions that Mr. Alfred J. Prufrock needs to hear so that his opinions on life can be turned
around. It is shown in this poem that Alfred J. Prufrock is very depressed and almost feels as if
though he doesn t have much meaning in life. Many people can go through this in life, infact
people at a young age feel like they have accomplished nothing when they begin to compare
themselves to their friends. However, Mr . Prufrock you must have accomplished something
within your youth. Regardless if it was a large or small accomplishments, in the long run they
will all equal out the same. Either people will know who you are or not there is not an in between.
So when you say Do I dare disturb the universe of course you should! Everyone does, just because
you may have only created a small ripple or a huge wave in the universe, you still have contributed.

Sociological Explanations Of Suicide
Durkheim believed that the suicide rate was a social fact; he found that social forces such as
social integration, which refers to an attachment to social groups and social regulation, which
refers to the control of individual desires by group norms (Fulcher and Scott, 2007, p.37) are
factors external to the individual and determine levels of suicide in society. Durkheim found that
suicide resulted from an imbalance of these two forces and developed a classification system. It
was observed (Giddens, 2006, p.15) that egotistic suicides are common in social groups that lack
sufficient integration, resulting in weaker social ties. For example lower suicide rates in times of
social crisis such as war are attributed to higher social integration... Show more content on

This information can be used in contemporary society to understand whether population density
and social integration can affect suicide rates. For instance studies in the US (Barkan, Rocque
and Houle, 2013, p.288) found higher suicide rates in western areas of the country with low
population density, which can be attributed to variations in religious and familial integration. A
lower rate of social integration between groups in society serves to weaken bonds and ties usually
formed during interaction; the absence of these forces makes it difficult for people to function in
modern society, accounting for peaks in the suicide rate. This can therefore be used by sociologists
to explain why rates of suicide vary across different areas in the same

Research Article On Fires And Climate Change
Upon a search of the University of Idaho Library, I found a scholarly research article relating fires
to climate change. This article is highly technical in nature. Through the extensive analysis of data,
Liu, Goodrick and Heilman found that climate change and augmenting fire activity form a
malicious cycle. Warm temperatures enable fuel moistures to decline, allowing fires to explode.
Fires, more specifically large ones, emit enormous amounts of exhaust. They discovered that fire
emissions help to worsen climatechange. The main components of fire emissions are carbon dioxide
, organic carbon, and black carbon; carbon dioxide is the largest pollutant of the three, accounting
for about 71% on average. When released into the atmosphere,... Show more content on

This paper has a fair amount of ethos associated with it. It was conducted by a government
institution and was written by government scientists who specialized in this area. The article was
also published in a peer reviewed journal, Forest Ecology and Management. Additionally, the
information is valid and reliable. I have crosschecked the information with in this article with
other journal articles; all the information presented is true and supported with solid data.
Furthermore, the article was published in a peer reviewed journal, which means the data has
been reviewed by other professionals in that field of study. Finally, the article is fairly current; it
was published in March of 2013. The trends presented in the article are still occurring. However,
the fine data, CO2 levels, black carbon levels, etc, may be a little out of date. All in all, this is a
great source to explain the causes of increasing activity and the trends associated with fire. This
article was found using the University of Idaho search tool. I found this source as an effective
and easy way for finding credible sources, but it was much harder than any of the other sources to
find sources that related to your research topic. I originally searched for the Forest Service budget
crisis, but I was unable to find usable sources.
In their research article on wildfires and climate change, Liu, Goodrick and Heilman (2013) found
that the exhaust from wildfires

Patient Receiving Therapy Case Study Paper
For prevention, whether primary or tertiary, patients should be instructed to take 1000 mg (men)
or 1200 mg (women) of calcium daily along with 800 1000 IU of vitamin D daily and participate
in regular weight bearing and muscle strengthening exercises. They should also be counseled to quit
smoking and avoid excessive alcohol intake. M.L. is following all of these recommendations with
the exception of inconsistent use of calciumsupplements.
Regarding monitoring, those patients already diagnosed with osteoporosis should have BMD
testing every 1 2 years if patient receiving therapy. M.L. is getting a Dexa scan every 1 2 years at
this time. Additionally, vertebral imaging should be performed in postmenopausal women with
specific risk factors such as a low trauma fracture during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

M.L. fits the first category with her T score of 2.7 to 3.4 so she should be receiving
pharmacological treatment. According to Cosman et al. (2014), some of the recommended
pharmacological treatments are bisphosphonates, calcitonin, an estrogen agonist/antagonist
(raloxifene), or estrogen or hormone therapy. M.L. is currently on the bisphosphonate alendronate
and may be considered for a once yearly dose of zoledronic acid (Reclast), also a bisphosphonate.
Due to the family history of breast cancer in her mother, estrogen replacement was not considered,
but as noted in the pharmacology section, raloxifene could be considered for M.L. if treatment with
bisphosphonates was ineffective. There is no definitive recommendation for the length of treatment.
It should be individualized based on risk factors and patient

The Summer Night In The Summer And The Last Summer
I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it was yesterday. No, I m merely kidding. It
was this summer. Not this coming summer, the last summer. And not the summer of the year
2016, the one from this year, 2017. What happened that summer night? Numerous things. It was
any other typical summer day for me in the ole Fritz household. I was getting bored doing things
with Hallie, the dog, or by myself. I thought of a brilliant idea, I ll invite Kennedy over, it s been
forever since I ve seen her. (It hadn t been an extremely long time since I last saw her, we simply
enjoy hanging out.) Accordingly, I called her up and asked, Hey, are you busy today? Because if
not, you should come over to my house and spend the night or something. She said, No, I m not
busy. I need to ask if I can come, I m sure she ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first
though. Hence, it might be a while. I told her that was fine and to swing by whenever she was
done cleaning, and that was the end of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived
at my house. We were incredibly excited to see each other because, actually, I have no idea why. I
mean yes we re excellent friends, still we saw each other a lot, and we talk, and text all the time. I
don t know, we re weird. We always become excited I suppose. We were comparable to when you
come home from a vacation and your dog goes crazy because they re happy to see you. Similar to

The Cold War Era Essay
Since World War II ended, the United States has been involved in several other conflicts, all of
which were much further from total war than was the Second World War. Many of these were
small wars. During the Cold War, the military s goal was preparedness to fight two simultaneous
major contingency operations. Once the Soviet Union disintegrated, and the United States
emerged as the lone superpower, there appeared to be a period of peace on the horizon. The peace
dividend never fully materialized, due to the rise of new powers, influence of non state actors,
spread of weapons of mass destruction and other challenges to international order. The United States
today is leaving Afghanistan, but faces concerns in several areas of the... Show more content on

The Defense Strategic Guidance states that in this current fiscal environment the armed forces will
no longer be sized to conduct prolonged stability operations. While this document says that the
forces will be sized based on the requirements of missions listed therein, which includes countering
terrorism and irregular warfare at the top of the list, it further states that versatility across the range
of missions will be maintained. In order to keep enough capability and capacity for high intensity
regular warfare as well as money to pay for training for this type of warfare, irregular warfare
programs and training will necessarily be less funded. The National Security Strategy and
Quadrennial Defense Review of 2010 set the National Military Objectives as countering violent
extremism, deterring and defeating aggression, strengthening international and regional security,
and shaping the future force. Just a few years later, after legislators caused massive cuts to defense
budgets due to sequestration and as the nation began to draw down its commitment in Afghanistan,
the Quadrennial Defense Review of 2014 outlined the Department of Defense s strategy as
emphasizing three pillars. The first, protecting the homeland, includes deterring and defeating
attacks on the nation and supporting civil authorities. The second, building security globally,

Introduction
The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the
dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon
Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of
communication (Eunson 2012).
In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from
here on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that
arose during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them.
From there the essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which
of these best simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004)
Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon
and Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and
Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre
edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits
the message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic
factors of encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be
able to decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation
between George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before.
Context
Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012)
Conclusion
I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the
complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the
problems that need to be addressed.
Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use
out of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message
from George is first pre edited

An external stimulus results in individual s partaking in activities because there are rewards if they partake or there is a punishment if they do not (Recours, Souville Griffet, 2004, p. 3). Rather than doing something voluntarily for their enjoyment there is a reason they partake in the activity, for example sporting activities may offer trophies and rewards (Iso Ahola, 1989,p. 255). This extrinsic reward may motivate individuals to join sporting teams to receive a trophy or reward. Extrinsic rewards can therefore undermine intrinsic motivation by rewarding individuals for something they enjoy doing (Iso Ahola, 1999, p. 43). Extrinsic motivation can result in the feeling of being controlled and restricted (Iso Ahola, 1999, p.43). • 21. Bine Drinking Vs Binge Drinking America perfectly represents the ideals of the Enlightenment: the land of the free and the home of the brave; a nation in which citizens can choose who they want to be and what they want to do. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the colonists relied on each other for support and no one could afford the luxury of a peaceful, secluded life. That emphasis on sociability became a part of the American identity. Lung cancer has declined steadily over the last thirty years (Cancer Statistics Report), but liver cancer incidents have tripled over that time period as Americans are binge drinking now more than ever (Key Statistics About Liver Cancer). While, at times, smoking can be social and drinking can be anti social, America s emphasis on gregariousness causes society to hypocritically scorn smoking but tolerate binge drinking because smoking is an anti social activity whereas binge drinking is a social activity. Advertisement posters against smoking and binge drinking differ because of the USA s cultural values, particularly due to the solidarity of smoking versus the camaraderie of drinking. Although binge drinking is typically considered four drinks for women and five drinks for men in a two hour span, this fails to account for someone s height, weight, and food consumed, and therefore many people have no idea if they are binge drinking or not, causing some to black out (Drinking Levels Defined). Without it, you run the risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand. When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. As long as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should be as simple as possible. Inventory Records Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things. If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on paper. The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price. Accounts Receivable If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable record. • 23. Essay On Natural Immunity Against Malaria Natural Immunity against malaria: Natural immunity against asexual stage parasites develops with repetitive exposure to malaria parasites and thus forms the basis of clinical immunity against malaria (Baird, Jones et al. 1991, Day and Marsh 1991, Trape, Rogier et al. 1994, Baird 1995, Baird 1998, Hviid 2005). Though clinical immunity to malaria has been shown to develop in individuals, it does not prevent reinfection due to several factors including the complex life cycle of the parasite and insufficiency of the magnitude of effective antibodies. Susceptibility to P. falciparum was shown to be independent of the number of years of exposure to the parasite, and age dependent protective immunity developed over a two year period of repeated ... These newly formed gametocytes developing as intraerythrocytic stages present several new antigens to the human immune system during each infection cycle. These immunologically identifiable forms are clear targets for the host immune system and both innate and adaptive immune responses are expected to become active against them. Naturally acquired antibodies against gametocytes exist (Graves, Carter et al. 1988, Paul, Vengesai et al. 2016, Bansal, Vengesai et al. 2017, Gebru, Ajua et al. 2017) and may play a role in controlling transmission by limiting the gametocyte development in the circulation or by interrupting gamete development and fertilization in the mosquito following ingestion. In particular antibodies against Pfs48/45 and Pfs230 gametocyte proteins effectively target male and female gamete surface and block mosquito stage development of the malaria parasites. Analysis of investigations carried out in areas of different malaria endemicity have shown wide variation in the frequency and prevalence of these antibodies (Bousema and Drakeley 2011). Studies have demonstrated that while natural immunity does develop against sexual stages, little is known about age dependent pattern of the antibodies. • 25. Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, Power Relationships... Introduction This essay explores how unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) are oppressed in the UK. An unaccompanied asylum seeking child is a person under the age of eighteen who has left their country of origin in order to seek refuge and is separated from both parents and are not being cared for by an adult who, by law or custom has responsibility to do so (UNHCR, 1994:121). They are therefore applying for asylum in their own right. Discrimination is the process of identifying that someone is different and, due to this difference, treating them unfairly (Thompson, 2006). Xenoracism is discrimination that is aimed at people specifically because they are from a different country, and are therefore strangers (Sivanandan,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Power is the capacity to act in such a way as to control others (Harris, 1997:28). He argues that everyone has at least some power, and that this power, for the relatively powerless, can be used to influence the decisions of the dominant group. Unaccompanied asylum seeking children not disclosing information can be seen as them exercising the little power they have. This can however have a negative impact on their lives in the UK, for example, being placed under section 17 of the Children Act instead of under section 20, which would offer the child more support. Foucault (1977) uses discourse to relate to how language can be used to construct ideas and thoughts about groups. Discourses and language can therefore help construct or reduce oppression (Thompson, 2006). If a group has power, they have the ability and opportunity to fulfil or obstruct personal, relational, or collective needs (Prilleltensky, 2008). If the dominant discourse of a less powerful group is positive, the group with power may help that group fulfil their needs. If the dominant discourse of a less powerful group is negative, such as with UASC, the powerful group may obstruct them in fulfilling their needs, and therefore will cause oppression. Benjamin begins his essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by briefly distinguishing his categories from traditional aesthetic values, those of creativity and genius, eternal value and mystery (Benjamin, 218). In contrast, he relates these tendencies to bourgeois and fascist ideologies and to the conditions, inevitably generated out of capitalism itself, which provoke revolutionary demands in the politics of art (217 8) Benjamin claims that in times past the role of art has been to provide a magical foundation for the cult. Here the artwork s use value was located in its central position within ritual and religious tradition (223 4). A statue or idol conveyed a sense of authority, or magical power, which inhered in that particular historical artifact. The reproduction in mass of such an item would have been unthinkable because it was a unique singularity, and it would lose its aura . He focuses on describing the objects aura, defining the aura as: We define the aura of the later as the unique phenomenon of a distance, however close it may be. If, while resting on a summer afternoon, you follow with your eyes a mountain range on the horizon or a branch which casts its shadow over you, you experience the aura of those mountains, of that branch (222 3). Durkheim found that suicide resulted from an imbalance of these two forces and developed a classification system. In their research article on wildfires and climate change, Liu, Goodrick and Heilman (2013) found that the exhaust from wildfires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

M.L. fits the first category with her T score of 2.7 to 3.4 so she should be receiving pharmacological treatment. According to Cosman et al. (2014), some of the recommended pharmacological treatments are bisphosphonates, calcitonin, an estrogen agonist/antagonist (raloxifene), or estrogen or hormone therapy. M.L. is currently on the bisphosphonate alendronate and may be considered for a once yearly dose of zoledronic acid (Reclast), also a bisphosphonate. Due to the family history of breast cancer in her mother, estrogen replacement was not considered, but as noted in the pharmacology section, raloxifene could be considered for M.L. if treatment with bisphosphonates was ineffective. There is no definitive recommendation for the length of treatment. It should be individualized based on risk factors and patient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Summer Night In The Summer And The Last Summer I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it was yesterday. No, I m merely kidding. It was this summer. Not this coming summer, the last summer. And not the summer of the year 2016, the one from this year, 2017. What happened that summer night? Numerous things. It was any other typical summer day for me in the ole Fritz household. I was getting bored doing things with Hallie, the dog, or by myself. I thought of a brilliant idea, I ll invite Kennedy over, it s been forever since I ve seen her. (It hadn t been an extremely long time since I last saw her, we simply enjoy hanging out.) Accordingly, I called her up and asked, Hey, are you busy today? Because if not, you should come over to my house and spend the night or something. She said, No, I m not busy. I need to ask if I can come, I m sure she ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first though. Hence, it might be a while. I told her that was fine and to swing by whenever she was done cleaning, and that was the end of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived at my house. We were incredibly excited to see each other because, actually, I have no idea why. I mean yes we re excellent friends, still we saw each other a lot, and we talk, and text all the time. I don t know, we re weird. We always become excited I suppose. We were comparable to when you come home from a vacation and your dog goes crazy because they re happy to see you. Similar to that of a dog, perhaps toned down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Cold War Era Essay Since World War II ended, the United States has been involved in several other conflicts, all of which were much further from total war than was the Second World War. Many of these were small wars. During the Cold War, the military s goal was preparedness to fight two simultaneous major contingency operations. Once the Soviet Union disintegrated, and the United States emerged as the lone superpower, there appeared to be a period of peace on the horizon. The peace dividend never fully materialized, due to the rise of new powers, influence of non state actors, spread of weapons of mass destruction and other challenges to international order. The United States today is leaving Afghanistan, but faces concerns in several areas of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Defense Strategic Guidance states that in this current fiscal environment the armed forces will no longer be sized to conduct prolonged stability operations. While this document says that the forces will be sized based on the requirements of missions listed therein, which includes countering terrorism and irregular warfare at the top of the list, it further states that versatility across the range of missions will be maintained. In order to keep enough capability and capacity for high intensity regular warfare as well as money to pay for training for this type of warfare, irregular warfare programs and training will necessarily be less funded. The National Security Strategy and Quadrennial Defense Review of 2010 set the National Military Objectives as countering violent extremism, deterring and defeating aggression, strengthening international and regional security, and shaping the future force. Just a few years later, after legislators caused massive cuts to defense budgets due to sequestration and as the nation began to draw down its commitment in Afghanistan, the Quadrennial Defense Review of 2014 outlined the Department of Defense s strategy as emphasizing three pillars. The first, protecting the homeland, includes deterring and defeating attacks on the nation and supporting civil authorities. The second, building security globally, focuses on ... • 44. Essay and referencing Introduction The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication (Eunson 2012). In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From there the essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of these best simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004) Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon and Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before. Context Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012) Conclusion I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message from George is first pre edited ...
