Essay On The Kite Runner
Crafting an essay on "The Kite Runner" can be a challenging task, as the novel by Khaled
Hosseini is rich in complex themes, intricate character relationships, and emotional depth. The
narrative delves into the intricacies of guilt, redemption, and the impact of personal choices on
one's life. To encapsulate the essence of the novel within the confines of an essay requires a
thorough understanding of the plot, characters, and the socio-cultural context presented in the
book.
One of the challenges lies in dissecting the multifaceted characters like Amir, Hassan, and Baba,
and analyzing their evolving relationships against the backdrop of a changing Afghanistan. The
exploration of themes such as betrayal, loyalty, and the quest for redemption demands a nuanced
approach to ensure that the essay captures the nuances of Hosseini's storytelling.
Furthermore, the writer must navigate the delicate balance between summarizing the plot and
providing insightful analysis. A superficial overview may fail to convey the depth of the
narrative, while excessive focus on details may result in a lack of coherence. Striking the right
balance is crucial to maintain the essay's flow and coherence.
Moreover, delving into the cultural and historical aspects of Afghanistan, as portrayed in "The
Kite Runner," adds another layer of complexity. It requires extensive research to contextualize
the events and characters within the broader socio-political landscape, providing readers with a
comprehensive understanding of the novel's setting.
In summary, writing an essay on "The Kite Runner" demands a meticulous approach, combining
literary analysis with a deep understanding of the novel's themes, characters, and cultural
backdrop. Successfully navigating these complexities can result in an essay that not only
summarizes the key elements of the story but also provides a thoughtful interpretation of the
profound themes embedded in the narrative.

Summary Of Paul David Tripp s Dangerous Calling
A church is a house of worship where Christians gather to worship and offer
sacrifices. Though all churches have a core function to serve God, they have
different doctrines and ways of worship this, therefore, leads to a difference in
preference of the believers as to which church to go to and to move away. For a
church to stand, it has various things that it should practice. Many authors have
different views concerning the same. This work is hence going to give a report on
how to keep the church standing by different authors. The biblical counselor Paul
David Tripp in his book Dangerous Calling addresses the challenges and temptations
that are exclusive to or intensified by pastoral ministry. In his counseling ministry,
Tripp has seen all, too much proof of an actual collapse in... Show more content on

They require the back up of members of the church; it is, therefore, a necessity that
whoever is called to accomplish a certain task in the ministry should adhere to it so
that everyone has the role to play. It requires prayers and nurturing of talents such as
singing. The church should hence be equipped with instruments so and youths be
trained in their operations such that pastoral ministry and other young ministries in a
church are brought together through various functions to do missions. Stetzer and
Dodson in their book Comeback Churches where they found out that a church grows
exponentially at its beginning, it then enters a plateau stage and finally it begins to
decline. It shows that there is an increasing trend of the un churched people. The book
Comeback Churches outlines the measures that the churches at a plateau stage should
put in place so that they begin to grow again and never decline. The book identifies
five important tools to rejuvenate the church, intentional evangelism, vibrant faith,
leadership, lay ministry and celebrating but orderly worship (Stetzer and Mike
Who Is The Protagonist In Desiree s Baby
Fabianne De Pinedo Professor Justin Paige ENC 1102 Wednesday, November 19,
2014 Kate Chopin s Short Story Desiree s Baby Kate Chopin s short story Desiree s
Baby addresses the topic of racism in an antebellum U.S. segregated society. The text
is focused on emphasizing society s tendency to discriminate without actually
understanding why it takes on such attitudes and without realizing the harmful effects
that racism has on its victims. The Antebellum South promoted the idea that African
Americans should be considered slaves and that it would be wrong for a white
individual to treat such a person as an equal. The central character in the story,
Desiree, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with the fact that they are both women, La Blanche is discriminated to a
larger degree in comparison to Desiree on account of being African American. It is
actually intriguing to observe how Armand does not feel the need to criticize La
Blanche on account of her having children who are one quarter black. Even with
the fact that it is likely that one of this children belongs to him, he does not feel
any form of attachment toward him and actually feels that there is nothing wrong
with the woman or with the boy they are both associated with the African American
community and it would thus be pointless for him to have any kind of expectations
from them. Armand is generally interested in being with someone with whom he
can identify with. The fact that his child puts him at risk of being criticized by the
rest of his community makes him want to abandon both his wife and his child,
eventually putting across his disproval of a person of African American ancestry
being provided with the same privileges as a white individual. The white man s is
the only real position of power here, even as the apotheosis of white womanhood,
Desiree, as her name implies, has only a tenuous power, one that is dependent on her
being desired and, I would add, on an always instable myth of purity of blood.

The Price For A Barrel Of Oil
Currently the price for a barrel of oil is around 33 American dollars. However,
around 2010 the price of a barrel was approaching 150 American dollars, which
caused the drivers of crude oil to lose money. In addition, everyone had to pay
more for gasoline, but now it has become a more reasonable price. In Michigan, the
company named Atlas began to struggle when gasoline prices reached an all time
high with their employees. The employees typically were paid by how many loads
they were able to drop into the ground. Due to the gasoline prices being so high, the
drivers were losing moneyevery week because no one was purchasing the gasoline.
Therefore, many employees that had been with the company for several years started
to leave and go with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now granted the new employees would only make a smaller percentage extra per
load, but it was better than making less than $300 a day. At times, the drivers were
making $150 a day and putting in a full eight hours, which is very frustrating when
they had previously been making a higher amount with less amount of time spent in
the truck.
In order for the company to survive, the resource department then decided that the
cost of healthcare would be cut as well as sick days and vacation time. Therefore,
the company in essence did not lose a lot of money by changing how to pay the
employees. They just changed the overall benefits to the drivers. The company
decided to offer an insurance that is either an HMO or a point of service plan, thus
saving the company millions of dollars in healthcare costs. However, the drivers lost
the ability to go to any physician because the PPO plan was taken away. Furthermore,
the company would take away the drivers vacation days before for their sick days,
thus ensuring the driver could not take a vacation. On the other hand, the drivers
were still paid around the same amount of money that they used to be making, but the
benefits that were offered were cut dramatically. Therefore, the employee had to
weigh out whether it was worth having a better health insurance and vacation time to

Controlled Release Nifedipine Case Summary
Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker which can be used alone or in conjunction
with other medications for treatment of angina and hypertension. It decreases the
contractility of the arterial smooth muscle as well as the subsequent vasoconstriction
through inhibition of calcium ions influx through the L type calcium channels. As a
result, the coronary and systemic arteries become dilated and the delivery of oxygen
to the myocardial tissue is increased. Furthermore, the total peripheral resistance is
decreased as well as the systemic bloodpressure and afterload. When being
prescribed with controlled release nifedipine, Mrs Luv would be advised to take
great caution because she may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug because of
her age. She would be instructed to swallow the medication whole (no chewing,
breaking or crushing the tablet) with a glass of water and not to abruptly stop taking
the medication without consultation with her physician. She would be informed that
controlled release nifedipine may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, her age is a concern as this dictates her ability to react to the drug which
ultimately affects the effectiveness of the medication. Second, she is pre diabetic,
hence we should be looking for an antihypertensive with a hypoglycaemic action to
at least reduce the possibility of her having Type II Diabetes Mellitus whilst
managing her high blood pressure. Third, she has liver impairment and
unfortunately, she is causing further liver damage through her drinking habits. This
presents a challenge to look for an antihypertensive drug which is the least
hepatotoxic so as not to contribute to the liver impairment she currently has. Finally,
it is already established that Mrs Luv has poor compliance when it comes to her
health. Therefore, a medication with a frequency of once a day is better as it will be
easier for her to
The Effects Of Fairy Tales
When thinking about fairy tales many of us, if not all of us, revert back to
childhood. When we were children some of the best memories are those of the
movies we used to watch; Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Frog
Prince, things of those sorts. What many of us do not know is that fairy tales go
back farther than that of Disney s productions. In this course, we have been
learning about different views of fairy tales. One of the views that we have
focused a lot on is told by Bruno Bettelheim in his book, The Uses of Enchantment.
In his eyes fairy tales have the most effect on children and the way children grow
up. The second view that we have learned about is J.R.R Tolkien s in his essay, On
Fairy Stories . Tolkien claims that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tolkien first states that recovery includes return and renewal of health. [Recovery]
is a re gaining regaining of a clear view. (Tolkien, J.R.R (1947 ed.) p.19) By this
Tolkien means that recovery is not seeing the world for what it is but rediscovery
of the banal, of the day to day world. Recovery is seeing things in a different light,
and that is what fairy tales help to do. Fairy tales take the everyday world that we
live and paint them in a light that allows us to offset what is going on in our world
today, or to restore the visions that we have of our lives. He even relates this theory
of recovery to himself in the quote For the story maker who allows himself to be
free with Nature can be her lover not her slave. It was in fairy stories that I first
divined the potency of the words, and the wonder of the things, such as stone, and
wood, and iron; tree and grass; house and fire; bread and wine. (Tolkien, J.R.R (1947
ed.) p.20). I agree strongly with this in the sense that without these stories of fantasy
how are we ever going to recover and see our world as great again with all the bad
that happens. Children are not to be concerned with the horrors of the world as adults
The Problem Of West Mendham
In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in
order to fulfil one s own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting
body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to
outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West
Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short termgains and thus fail to see
the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say
development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is.
However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West
Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains.
Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear
understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The
construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless,
the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall
from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham
where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable
mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be
limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its
construction.
However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and

Rock And Roll Vs Blues Music
When we think of rock and roll, we think electric guitars, amplified sounds, and
intricate styles of play. But, rock and roll would have not existed without simple 12
bar forms, antiphonic textures, or walking bass lines used in blues music. Blues
music is one of the most influential characteristics that gave birth to rock and roll.
Rock and roll was influenced by elements of bluesinstrumentation, rhythm, and
purpose. Both rock and roll and blues are composed of drums, guitars, and vocals.
As blues music developed, it pushed the emergence of rock and roll more and
more. Early rock and roll followed a similar rhythm to blues music. The goal of
both these genres of music is to create music with raw emotion. The blues emotion
driven style of music inspired the same pattern to be followed by rock and roll. Great

Devil Got My Women by Skip James is a song from the blues style of music. Rock
Awhile by Goree Carter is a song from the early rock and roll style of music. Skip
James music was never intended for purposes of entertainment, and his artistic
temperament was known to be volatile and unpredictable. His music was dark and
mysterious, personal and bleak and intended primarily for his own emotional
release. He often played his guitar with an open D Minor tuning (D A D F A D)
resulting in the deep sound. Skip James was an exceptional guitarist, and his sound
often revolved around his trademark E minor cross note tuning and an eerie falsetto
vocal delivery that could send shivers up ones spine. In Devil Got My Women,
James addresses the struggle between the flesh and the spirit, as well as good and
evil, contains ones of the most classic lyrics of any blues song. Many blues men
refer to the devil, but with Skip James, one can clearly hear the anger, jealously, and
pain. Skip James also used a fingerpicking style that was fast and clean using the
entire register
Examples Of Dystopian In The Hobbit
1. Utopia
Utopia is used to describe what is an imaginary place, or state of being, in which
everything is perfect. The word was first used by Sir Thomas Moore, in his book of
the same name, which was published in 1516. In the book it is the name of a
fictional island, on which Moore, imagines an ideal society. He derived utopia from
the Greek, ou=not and topos=place.
Thomas Moore would later be tried and executed for refusing to acknowledge Henry
VII, as head of the Church of England.

2. Tween
In the current age, tween is used to describe a child who is not quite a teenager
(around 11 or 12 years old), but is within a year or two of becoming one. The word
was created by author J.R.R. Tolkien, known for penning the popular Lord of the
Rings Trilogy. In his novel the Hobbit, tween does not quite match the contemporary
meaning. When Tolkien, created the word in 1937, it was meant to refer to a Hobbit,
between the ages of 20 and 33. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yahoo
The contemporary meanings of yahoo include an expression of joy or excitement,
or a boorish or uncivilized person. Its origin, suits the latter meaning rather well.
Yahoo, was coined by Jonathan Swift in his 1726 novel, Gulliver s Travels. In the
novel, Yahoos are a race of brutish beings.
4. Mentor
Mentor, is yet another word that comes from a work of literature, though it is far
older than any of the other words on this list. Today a mentor is considered a wise
and trusted counsellor or teacher, which is essentially the original meaning.
Homer was the first to use the word in his epic poem, the Odyssey. In the poem
Mentor, is the name of the friend trusted to look after the wellbeing and education of
Odysseus son during his absence.
Estepr Theory Lab
The purpose of this lab was to determine the atomic structure of small molecules and
ions which we did by drawing Lewis Dot Structures, drawing molecular geometries,
and using the VSEPR model on a computer. The VSEPR Theory states that molecular
geometries of molecules can be predicted through their number of electronpairs on the
central atombecause these electrons will repulse each other as much as they can
while still being bound to the central atom. The Lewis Dot Structures and the
molecular geometries that we were asked to draw were in order for us to have
background knowledge of how each moleculewas shaped before we had to make them
on the computer.
Most of the angles we calculated in the molecular geometry section of our lab were
similar to the ones we predicted in Section II.C. For example, our model for ClF5
was predicted to have less than a 90 degree angle and our calculated result on the
computer was 87.52 degrees. Also, the CO32 predicted model was 120 degree angle
and we got 119.99 degrees which rounds up to the predicted model. However, some
of the angles we calculated did not agree with the predictions we made. For example,
CH3OH was predicted to have a bond angle of less than 109.5 degrees for both the C
and O bond but our computer model showed an angle of 120.08 degrees for the C
bond and 163.40 for the O bond. In the beginning of ... Show more content on

Through this structure we can see which atomic orbitals make up the different
parts of molecular orbitals. The HOMO orbital is antibonding with sigma bonds.
The HOMO 1 orbital is a bonding pi orbital. The HOMO 2 orbital is a bonding,
sigma orbital. The LUMO orbital is an antibonding pi orbital. The LUMO 1 is a
bonding pi orbital. We can tell this because antibonding orbitals have a gap between
the two atoms while bonding orbitals do not. A sigma bond occurs through axial
overlap between atoms. A pi bond occurs with lateral overlapping of

In this sense, diagnosis exists whether or not explicit diagnostic models are used
(Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006).
Although these views may not be explicitly stated, as implicit models they still have
a powerful capacity to guide how we think about situations that we face in our
company, how we talk about those situations, and what we deem to be appropriate
courses of action (Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006).
The apparent option of EA Inc. not using a model is not a real option; the choice is
whether EA Inc. should use one that is explicit or one that is implicit.
While implicit models may provide valuable insights based on accumulated
experience, they do have limitations. First, they are likely to be based on the limited
experience of one or a few employees at EA Inc.; thus, their generalizing ability may
be uncertain. Second, because they are implicit, it is difficult for other employees to
be aware of the framework/assumptions within which decisions are being made
(Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006).

The Prevalence Of Hearing Loss
Hearing loss is prevalent, treatable and frequently undetected (Uhlmann, 1989). It
is widely accepted that the prevalence of hearing impairment increases with age.
This age related hearing loss is known as presbycusis. Acar, Yurekli, Babademez,
Karabulut and Karasen (2011) described presbycusis as a social problem in which
people deliberately restrict physical and social activities. There is a prediction for an
increasing prevalence of hearingloss due to the greater aging population, the use of
personal listening devices, and increased military action.

Yet, the understanding of distorted speech declines rapidly and dramatically with
aging and hearing ability (Divenyi et al., 2005). Even with a favorable speech to noise
ratio, like in a sound treated suite, a mild high frequency hearing loss can affect
speech understanding (Lunner, Rudner, Rönnberg, 2009). Reverberation and signal
processing in noise are the greatest obstacles to understanding speech (Gordon Salant,
2005). Reverberation has a smoothing effect on the sound waveform which causes
distortion of the signal (Gordon Salant, 2005). This phenomenon occurs in large,
open rooms which is why many adults complain about understanding speech in noisy
restaurants. Elderly, hearing impaired listeners indicate that they have the most
difficulty understanding continuous input in the presence of noise as opposed to
difficulty understanding just single words and phrases in the presence of noise
(Pichora Fuller, 2003).When the peripheral auditory system is already damaged from
typical auditory aging processes, adding more distortion to the signal decreases the
listener s ability to understand. These deficits indicate a slowing of perceptual
processes. The question remains, how quickly do these components decline, at what
rate and to what degree does speech understanding diminish (Divenyi et al., 2005)?

The Colonization Of Virginia And William Shakespeare s
The...
In the 1600s, many countries separately set out in exploration for several reasons:
for religious expansion and freedom, for the establishment of new land in order to
accommodate for growing populations, and for an ultimate economic opportunity.
While this allowed for the expansion of civilization and ideas that ultimately led to
the creation of the United States, it came at the cost of the abuse and exploitation
of entire populations of natives that sometimes led to their complete erasure. The
natives of the land, presently known as America, claimed they were subject to
these horrors for no more of a reason than fun and the benefit of the incoming
colonists as a labor source. However, many colonists convey these experiences with
a sort of justification that these natives were, in reality, uncivilized savages who
failed to succumb to their wishes of adhering to their culture. These adverse
accounts of the growth of the colonies are still heavily debated today due to the lack
of truth and bias that exists within the written evidence provided by both sides.
While colonist views are challenged in William Shakespeare s The Tempestby
expressing the natives in a sympathetic light, it is clearly reflected in John Smith s
General History of Virginia and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs.
Mary Rowlandson through the representation of natives as sadistic and inhumane
creatures. Despite the differing accounts on both sides, it is fairly universal that the

My First Day For Inner City Kids
Honk, honk and we were off to Houston, Texas. The trip was about 5 hours long
and I was exhausted when we arrived at the Impact Church of Christ. We were
there for a mission trip to put on a vacation bible school for inner city kids that
were less fortunate. The first day we arrived at the church we had to set up and
meet with the other youth groups. My youth group was set up in the furthest
building from the auditorium. We had about an hour before we had to pick up the
kids for vacation bible school. Before we picked them up, we assigned people
within our own youth group to different task groups. I was one of the oldest kids in
the youth group so they put me in the yellow group. Yellow group had the oldest
kids which were in 5th grade. There were not a lot of 5th graders so they combined
the yellow group with blue group which contained 4th graders. After we assigned
groups there was a lot to get done still before they arrived. We had to set up our skit
before the kids arrived. Our group skit was about how the deviltempts us to do bad
things and how we need to fight that temptation. The skit opens as God is telling
Eve not to eat from the tree of life, but the devil would jump in and tell Eve that it
would make her powerful. She fell for Satan s trick and ate from the tree of life and
then convinced Adam to eat the fruit too. God then kicked them out of the land and
forbid them to ever go there again.
We finally get to pick up the kids. I was dying to meet one of the kids

Employment At The United States Essay
Employment At Will gives the employer the right to terminate employment at any
time for any reason, except an illegal one. In turn an employee can leave their job
for any reason without any adverse legal affects. The purpose of this paper is to
examine Employment At Will and the advantages and disadvantages to both the
employer and employee. It will analyze various workplace scenarios and determine
the cause and effect. It will also examine the state of Georgia s At Will policy and a
recent case involving it.
What is Employment At Will EmploymentAt Will is a term used in U.S. labor law
granting the employer the right to terminate any employee for any reason and
without providing any warning. In the United States, employees without a written
employment contract generally can be fired for good cause, bad cause, or no
cause at all; judicial exceptions to the rule seek to prevent wrongful terminations
(Muhl, 2001, p.1). When employees acknowledge At Will employment during
hiring they lose claim for loss of dismissal. The employer also has the right at any
time to change the terms of employment at any time with little or no repercussions.
The At Will presumption can be modified by the employer via a contract with the
employee. This process normally happens when specific work is required for a
specific duration. All states honor some form of At Will employment with a varying
number of exceptions. Even so Employment At Will remains a controversial subject
in the study of law
Impressionism And Influence In Art In The 19th And 20th...
As art practices evolved during the 19th and 20th centuries, the elite of society
became an object of criticism and obscurity as subject matter, whereas the working
class began to appear in artworks in a more open and positive light. This shift in
artworks depicting the working class in favor of aristocracy is clear in the analysis
of three different periods, with the works of three different artists: Jean François
Millet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Vera Mukhina. Millet depicts the working class
forthright in his works, such as The Gleaners (1857); he focuses on the futility of
labor and the conditions of the emerging middle classin reaction to the extravagance
and leisure of the aristocracy around him. Renoir utilizes an Impressionistic style
to depict the working class neighborhood and surroundings he lives in; in paintings
such as Luncheon of the Boating Party (1881), he exposes the leisurely lifestyle of
the working class and their integration into the rest of society. The working class
could now intermix with the aristocracy in a way that had never before been
plausible. Mukhina, however, like other Socialist Realist artists, represents the
working class in her sculpture Worker and Collective Farm Girl (1937) as a
powerful and driving force; in the piece, noticeably absent is any reference to the
elite in society. Marking a great departure from earlier representations of the working
class, Mukhina places the worker front and center in a positive light. Together, these

that want to be successful will have both a great plan going in a great direction,
with investors, board members and employees that believe in the same outcome,
together they will be willing to implement the plan in order to have success.

advantage is the way that the team believes in the discoveries (Quaterra Resources

they have a SWOTT analysis. Meaning every company must identify their

How committed is Canada, with respect to environmental...
In Canada, concerns involving environmental security are not the top priority. But
due to recent research, Canada must be more strongly committed to environmental
security due to increasing environmental problems internationally. There are many
ways Canada can stay committed to environmental security, for example, increased
funding to Canadas Department of National Defence s EnvironmentDepartment. Also
to stay committed to increased access and support to Voluntary Environmental
Programs across Canada. Finally to completely stay up to world standards in
environmental security, Canada must implement an effective environmental planning
system. Throughout the essay, the topic at hand will be if Canada is able to
implement these actions to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main type of contamination is hydrocarbons. Over a long period of time,
Canada has used a lot of fuel and has used many fuel storage facilities, as these
storage facilities age, hydrocarbons form and are lethal to the environment. A notable
hydrocarbon clean up was the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line, which contained 21
contaminated radar military sites. Currently, eight of them are clean and two are
currently being cleaned. If these sites were ignored, the surrounding environment
would be a wasteland and no economic benefit would be derived from that area
(Stones, 2004).
Even though the DND s Environment Department seems to be working hard, Canada
s environment is still being affected by war even though there has not been one here
in the 20th century. In 2003, Canada s military was called in to protect the
environment because the Environment Department failed to follow federal
environmental laws to protect habitats. The department simply does not have the
personnel or resources to complete all the environment concerns across Canada (Bow,
2004). The most important thing to know about the DND s Environment Department
is that it lacks funding because, when it comes to the Canadian Government, it is not
of main concern. The Canadian Government is focused too much on short term issues
and not focused enough on long term issues such as
I Am Sat At The Kitchen Table
As I sat at the kitchen table I begin observing this man walking up to me. A stature
of a six foot one, fifty six year old man. He has three scars on both of his knees
from multiple knee surgeries throughout his life, including a total knee
replacement in his left knee. He also has a five inch scar on his inner forearm from
a head on collision, when the paramedics said he should have had more injuries
than he did. And then there were his eyes. Eyes that never stop wondering, never
stop thinking about what is going to happen next. This man is my father, Bob
Henry. As we sat down together I had asked him, What is your favorite memory?
He then began to tell me of a story I had never heard of before. Out of my eighteen
years with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be his work schedule for a couple months prior to his adventure.
Ultimately, he worked until he realized a break is what his body needed before he
would get to his breaking point. And with that, the adventure was planned. Before
he started telling me about this memory, he smiled and told me, Hold on one
second. As I was waiting, unknown to what he was doing, I began thinking how
much this adventure meant to him. My father is not one to take time off and
relax. In fact, he doesn t even know how to sit still when nothing needs to be fixed
or done regarding work or his home life. Bob Henry does not have the word
relaxation in his vocabulary, so for him to go on this trip and be happy was nice to
hear about. As he returned, he had a small green photo album with the year 2001
written on the front cover. It was dusty but looked brand new as if he had never
opened it before. As he opened it, with a grin on his face, he began to tell me of his
adventure to British Columbia. His next door neighbor, county supervisors,
businessmen, controllers, construction men and professional athletes all accompanied
him on this adventure for six days. As he took the two hour commercial flight from
Fresno, California to Vancouver, Canada he encountered the trouble of only bringing
a twenty pound bag. The reason for this was because after this flight he
Scottish Devolution Essay examples
Devolution is the transfer of powers from a central body to subordinate regional
bodies. In Scotland, Devolution was set up to restore legitimacy to a system of
government that reflected Scottish preferences. The reason behind the demand for
Scottish self government is that Scotland had the historic status of nationhood before
the Union of 1707 and within the Union, has a different set of legal, educational and
religious institutions that reinforce a Scottish identity.
The Scottish National Party (SNP) was founded In 1934 and In 1960 was found oil
in the North Sea, what changed the Scottish public opinion about the Union as the
main cause to join it was economical; having oil would suppose economical
independence from England.

In October 1974 is was held another elections and the SNP representation in the
Parliament raised to 11 seats. The Labour Government became weaker and started to
prepare the legal situation for the incoming Referendum. The Government failed in
amend a bill for Scotland and Wales Devolution, but it was introduced a separate
amendment which made necessary the 40% of the eligible Scottish electorate to vote
yes for the effective devolution of powers, that was known as the Cunningham
Amendment. The 1st of March of 1979 it was held a referendum and Yes won but
with not enough representation to reach the 40% needed to start the Scottish
devolution.
Scottish devolution was defeated in the referendum and the two biggest parties
campaigned for No . The SNP considered the results as a victory for devolution but
was against the referendum as they were campaigning about the complete
independence.
In 1977 a Labour Member of Parliament introduced a important issue, a question that
was called The West Lothian Question later on and referred to the ability to vote on
matters that only afected people living in England by Members of Parliament from
constituencies in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as a consequence of the
devolution of power from Westminster and Scottish parliament, Welsh and Northern
Irish Assemblies.
In 1979 it was a motion of no confidence against the Labour Government, that had as
a direct consequence the celebration

Shakespeare s use of the Renaissance Idea of Fatalism and Imagery in King Lear
In a play about individual tragedies, fatalism plays an important part. Shakespeare
effectively uses cosmic imagery to define his characters and to explore the idea of
journeys linked to self discovery by relating it to the imagery of rotating circles.
Shakespeare uses Renaissance theology to explain character motivation. In the 16th
century there was a great belief in astronomy. People believed in the harmony of the
spheres and they were ruled by this idea of thhe natural alignment of the nine planets
in their orbits. Shakespeare incorporates this into King Lear in highlighting Edgar and
Gloucester s superstitious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edmund turns away from the belief of the alignment of planets and harmonies and
towards nature as that is all he can be really sure of. The fact that Edmund doesn t
believe in spherical predominance proves that he is different to the society around
him. Shakespeare takes every opportunity to emphasise this to distinguish evil
from good in the play putting Edmund forward as a character who is out of
harmony. When Gloucester predicts that eclipses in the sun and moon suggesting a
bad omen, Edmund casts aspersions on this idea, accusing the world of foppery ,
describing it as excellent because he sees it as a weakness that he can exploit from
his anti human point of view. Edmund is also stating that people are fops or fools
because they blame their evil and wrong doings, which is really part of their
character our own behaviour , on the cosmos. Even though Edmund does rightly say
that
that when we are sick in fortune often surfeits of our own behaviour we make guilty
of our disasters, the sun, the moon and the stars, as if we were villains on necessity,
fools by heavenly compulsion (Act I.2.117 26)
He declares that men are fools if they evade responsibility for their actions by
blaming the stars He ultimately decides that man is what he is by choice, not by the
stars and that he is evil. He appreciates no fate, only free will. He says that all cosmic

Forests And Temperate Grasslands
Grasslands are lands that have a lot of grass! Grasslands have very few trees. This
is because it does not rain enough to grow many trees. There are two kinds of
grasslands: savannas and temperate grasslands. A savanna is a grassland found in
warm climates. The largest savanna is in Africa. Savannas have many herbivores
or plant eating animals such as elephants, giraffes, and zebras. Many of these
animals eat grass. They also have carnivores or meat eating animals such as lions,
cheetahs, and hyenas. Temperate grasslands have a lot of grass and good soil for
farming. Temperate grasslands are also called prairies, steppes, or pampas. The
weather here is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Some of the animals that
live here are rabbits, buffalo, wolves, and insects. Forests are full of lots of trees!
There are 3 kinds of forests: tropical forests, temperate forests, and boreal forests.
Each different kind of forest has different types of trees and animals. Tropical
forests are found in hot and humid places near the equator. Rainforests and jungles
are tropical forests. It is called a rainforest because it rains a lot. Animals such as
snakes, gorillas, jaguars, monkeys, and parrots live here. Temperate forests are like
the forests we are used to. The leaves change color with the seasons. Maple, elm,
and oak trees are found in temperate forests. Some of the animals that live here are
mountain lions, bears, deer, and squirrels. Boreal forests are found in the North and
Character Analysis Of Prince Charming
I think Ella fell for Prince Charming because when she met Prince Charming he
wanted to dance with a girl like her and she fell for him. Ella was at a ball when
they met and Prince Charming stunningly said, would you like to dance with me.
Ella said, YES! Ella also, fell for the prince s handsome, dashing, and bright eyes.
Ella did not know it would turn out bad, until he asked her to marry him and she
said NO. The prince did not approve, locked her up, and his eyes looked cold and
empty now to Ella. Ella thought it was Prince Charmings business to know she did
not want to marry him. But, I still think she fell for him because she got caught up in

marrying the prince, escaping the dungeon, and staying strong (never got let

needed to do. Ella got things done like: cleaning, hard work, and she did all that
with barely any energy. So, I think Ella took like in her own hands because she need
to stay strong for her (dead)

Content Area Reading
In chapter nine of their book, Content Area Reading: Literacy and Learning Across
the Curriculum, Vacca et al. (2014, pp. 280 307) discuss strategies that encourage
writing across the curriculum. Throughout the chapter, the authors present numerous
instructional practices and strategies that can be applied by educators to facilitate
writingin their classrooms. As I read through this chapter, I was surprised by how
mathematics could be applied to these strategies, a learned new information, and was
surprised at times. Overall, this chapter offers a plethora of information to up and
coming educators, and gives insight into how writing can be implemented into their
content areas. I ve always viewed content area writing as strictly consisting of short
answer and essay questions and prompts. In this chapter, Vacca et al. (2014) showed
me that a multitude of strategies exist for implementing writing into content areas.
One of these new forms of content area writing that I learned about in this chapter
were microthemes. Vacca et al. (2014, p. 286) defines mircothemes as a brief piece

how it can be applied to the real world, and an explanation of the mathematics they
used to complete the experiment. Utilizing lab reports would allow my students to
expand on their math skills, while also practicing their writing

Effects Of Aging On Aging And Aging
Introduction
Also spelled as ageing, this is generally the process of becoming old. It is the in a
way the opposite of immortality. In a broader aspect, it may occur to single cells in
an organism also called cellular senescence or the population of a species, known as
population ageing. This process primarily affects human beings and fungi. In humans,
it signifies the accumulation of various changes which occur over time. The changes
include physical, social and psychological changes.
Causes of aging are very uncertain. Besides, there are several factors which
predispose an individual to premature aging. Current theories suggest that this
process occurs to due to cellular damage such as DNA oxidation by free radicals

Old persons are also predisposed to various medical conditions including diabetes and
irritable bowel syndrome that may increase the chances of constipation.
The genitourinary system
The bladder and urinary tract depict the epitome of various old age associated
conditions. Urinary incontinence otherwise known as loss of bladder control is a
common problem associated with aging. Besides old age, diabetes and other
conditions also contribute to incontinence. Other common conditions include
menopause for women and enlarged prostate for men.
Memory
Advancing age is commonly associated with loss of memory. The inability to
maintain both short term and long term memory is serious. Learning new things or
remembering familiar words and names can be quite daunting.
Senses Eyes and Ears
Advancing age is a common hindrance to the proper functioning of the body senses.
The eyes will have difficulty focusing on near and distant objects. Adapting to
different levels of light is the other common problem. Cataracts, also called clouding
of vision is another common condition that results from changes in eye s lens.
Hearing abilities also diminish. With this, you will have difficulties following a
conversation or hearing high frequencies.
Teeth
Receding of the gums is a notable condition in this bracket. As mentioned earlier, old
age is associated with various medical conditions. Medications used to
Puritan Society Around The 1600 s
Imagine living in a society where slut shaming happens everyday and a person s
mistakes are publicized and everyone knows about what you did. Some people
would think I would be referring to the Puritan society that existed around the 1600
s, but sadly I am referring to today s society and how a famous person s mistakes
show up on social media, covers of magazines, and every talk showhost throughout
America. For example, recently the break up of beloveded Brad Pittand Angelina
Jolie showed up everywhere in less than twenty four hours. The breakup sparked
news on twitter, talk shows such as Wendy Williams, and was the main story on
every tabloid by the next day. Even though, our society did not make the couple

Word spreads quickly on social media because someone can share something and
in less than a minute hundreds of other people can spread the same news and
before we know it, the news can be trending on all social media. For example,
Twitter is a huge social media platform where a small hashtag or news can blow up
within minutes. On October 3rd news was let out by CNN News Twitter account
that Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room . This
news spread fast and in less than an hour the news was everywhere. Not only did
CNN tweet about it, but so did The New York Times, TMZ, and CNBC. This is
interesting because instead of these platforms ( except TMZ) talking about
important news like the hurricane that hit Haiti the world was more focused on a
celebrity who almost got hurt instead of people that are actually dying due to a
natural disaster. This goes to show how the scale of importance for our society has
tipped. Celebrity news outway actual news that the young population today should
know. This has been the way people have lived for generations. It is like we are
putting this one percent of the population up on a stage (like the Puritans) and only
value their experiences. This can be related to the Puritan days because they would
only ever gather in the town center to see someone on the scaffold doing a
punishment instead of meeting in the town center talking about worldwide news. In
both the Puritan and today s time our society focuses more on people that are known
or known for doing something bad in most cases instead of real issues that are
happening. This really affects the way the society sees things that are important and
unimportant because if it is not trending on Twitter why should anyone know about
The Outbreak Of Acute Gastroenteritis
Introduction
An outbreak of infection or foodborne illness may be defined either as two or more
linked cases of the same illness, or as the situation when the observed number of
cases unaccountably exceeds the expected number (Food standard Agency, 2006).
However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines it as, any disease of an
infectious or toxic nature caused by or thought to be caused by the consumption of
food or water Norovirus is the most common known cause of infectious intestinal
disease in Western Europe and North America [1 3] and one of the leading causes of
foodborne outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis [4 9]. It has been estimated that there are
over 600,000 cases of norovirus infection in England each year [10], with infection
rates peaking during the winter months that lend the disease the initial description
winter vomiting disease (Mounts et al., 2000 EFSA).
Background
Noroviruses were first recognized in the year 1968 following an outbreak of
gastroenteritis at an elementary school in Norwalk, Ohio in the USA (Adler and
Zickl,1969). For many years they were known as Norwalk like viruses (NLV), or
as small round structured viruses (SRSVs), because of their appearance when
viewed under an electron microscopy. Norovirus belongs to the family Caliciviridae
and is a non enveloped, single stranded positive RNA virus with a genome tail and a
single capsid polypeptide molecular mass (Greenberg,1981). Norovirus have a
characteristic surface morphology
Digital Communication And Its Effects On Our Society
Digital communication through today s technology is empowering our society and
strengthening human relationships through connecting us in ways that are
impossible through organic human to human interaction. This exceptionally
innovative technology was once only imaginable in science fiction literature, and is
now a reality for most of humanity. We use this form of communicationon a daily
basis throughout the planet. We rarely stop to think about how wondrous and
seemingly magical this advanced technologyis, and we seldom ponder on how this
new form of communication impacts us as a culture. Advanced digital
communication not only enables and emboldens us, but could be potentially harming
and hindering us as a culture as well as socially... Show more content on

We have to find the positive portions of this means of communications that works the
best and help us move forward. It is detrimental to our future with this technology that
we are able to identify the parts that allow us to be brought down as well as allow us
to be too dependent on this means of communication. If we can harness the most
powerful parts of this communication while considering how to minimize the
negative effects that are naturally inherent to this technology, we can advance even
further into the future of humanity. If we dwell on the negative, while ignoring the
positive aspects of this technology, like some media theorists, we could be
obstructing progression with this technology, simply due to the fact we are focusing
on the wrong traits overall.
Certain media theorists such as Sherry Turkle do an incredible job on studying these
properties of technology and their bearing on us, but sometimes seem to dwell on the
negative side of the analysis. In short some of these media theorists do astonishing
work studying the impact socially that using and communicating through modern
technology has, but then takes a negative stance due to their archaic understanding of
what is capable with these technologies. We have come so far in the past years in
advancing humanity and its natural predicaments while being heavily reliant on
technology to communicate. Not noting that advancement is pessimistic and
The Negative Impact Of Classical Liberalism During The...
In response to the negative impacts of classical liberal policies such as laissez faire
capitalism during the Industrial Revolution, many different political and social
movements developed. With such things such as the labour unions and the
recognition of the rights of women and other groups, liberalism evolved into modern
liberalism. In order for classical liberalism to evolve, challenges should be
implemented so that it can adapt to the needs of the society. Classical liberals
gradually came to see the merits of some of their opponents views and modified
the practical applications of some of their values and beliefs. These developments
gradually evolved classical liberalism over time and eventually transforming into
modern liberalism. The socialist critique of classical liberalism undermined the
political, social, and economic foundations of the classical liberal state. Rather
grudgingly, classical liberals began to recognize that some modification where
necessary. Moreover, as the right to vote was extended to a wider range of voters,
governments began to enact laws to protect the rights of workers, improving working
conditions and addressing crucial issues globally. The labour unions and standards
was an example of how the concept of equality and liberalism expanded. Times of
Industrial Revolution stand out as pivotal turning points for all western nations that
brought prosperity and fast paced expansion. Labour unions arose because there were
many who wanted to improve

LITERATURE REVIEW 3.1. Recruitment and Selection (Toyota) [
(recruitment.toyotauk.com, 2011) ] Hiring the best people is paramount to the
success of any organization more so is the ability to retain a high quality
workforce; if there is a vacant position in an organization there should not be panic

the description and determine the qualifications. [ (hr.uoregon.edu, 2010) ]
Recruitment is the preceding step in the selection method in an organization. It is
seen as an activity directed to earn suitable workforces whose qualifications and

as the process of identifying that the organization needs to employ someone up to

employ the PSO and DE methods to search efficiently the optimal PID controller
parameters of an AVR system. A MATLAB simulation has been performed. The
proposed approach had superior features, including easy implementation, stable
convergence characteristic, and good computational efficiency. In order to assist
estimating the performance of the PID controller using PSO and DE, Minimum

Comparing Nineteen Eighty-Four, And V For Vendetta
George Orwell said, One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a
revolution. One makes the revolution in order to establish a dictatorship. This essay
will be comparing and contrasting Nineteen Eighty Four and V for Vendetta since
they are both fictional narratives based on totalitarian dystopian societies, where the
government has the power over its citizens. The government can control what they
want their citizens to believe and think through propaganda. This creates fear in the
citizens of both societies. By showing that the everything which the current
government is doing better than the government in the past for it citizen. It is useful
to compare V for Vendetta and the novel Nineteen Eighty Fourwith respect to their
depictions of dictators, representation of propaganda in a dystopian society and the
endings related to character development. Both societies can be compared with each
other by a figurehead which is worshipped by the citizens of the society, propaganda
is used to control the citizens of the society and the ending of movie V for Vendetta
and Nineteen Eighteen Four book contrast with each other in character development.
The first topic that is going to be compared is that in both societies the leader is
worshipped by the citizens. In the book, Nineteen Eighty Four Big brother is
considered to be the savior of the society and he is idolized by the citizens. Similarly
in V for Vendetta Adam Sutler is also considered to be the savior

Final Paper: Stress in the workplace

BUS 318: Organizational Business
Instructor: Gary Priest
Final Paper: Stress in the workplace Organizational behavior is the study of
individuals and their behavior within an organized work environment. Many different
facets of the business world make up organizational behavior including: motivation,
personality, leadership, communication, and so much more. However, I plan to focus
on the topic of stress within organizational behavior. Depending on how it is handled
stress can be both positive and negative. However, when it is not recognized and
handled properly stress can cause serious problems. Throughout this paper I ... Show

Another common stressor is physical setting: noise, lack of privacy, poor lighting,
poor ventilation, poor temperature control, or inadequate sanitary facilities.
Settings where there is organizational confusion or an overly authoritarian, laissez
faire, or crisis centered managerial style are all psychologically stressful. (American
Psychological Association, 2012) People are most productive when they are
comfortable. If the office is too cold, too loud, unclean, etc. it could cause the
employee to shift their focus off of the task they are doing and onto whatever it is
that is causing their work environment to be less than comfortable. Finally, there
are stressors in our personal lives that may have nothing to do with work but may
spill over into our work lives. Things like divorce, birth of a child, death of a
family member, and financial issues can cause stress in our personal lives. These
stressors cause us to be distracted and we lose focus on what we are doing at work.
This can cause accidents on the jobs or a decrease in productivity. Furthermore, as
we let the stress of our personal lives spill over into our work lives we may become
agitated, short tempered, and difficult to be around. Our attitude then begins to affect
those working around us, which in turn causes stress in their lives. I am definitely
guilty of letting the stress from my personal life affect my work. Even something as
small as fighting with my husband

A Bilingualism Study
Ana Miranda
Texas A M of Commerce
Abstract This paper is primarily intended to present detailed examination about
bilingualism and bilingual education from a teaching and student perspective. In first
instance, I will deal with some of the definitions of these terms. Following this, I will
introduce my interviewee and more information to complement this essay in the
topics of learning English as a second language as well as how culture and other
factors can affect the learning process of a student. I will also provide some of ...

This teacher grew up in Virginia and graduated from a Christian University with a
major in Political Science. Her dream was to one day become an attorney, however
she went back to school to get a teacher certificate in History and English. While
getting certified she got offered a job as an ESL teacher, not because she was
certified but because she could speak some Spanish. After 15 years she went back
to school and got an ESL teacher certification. I asked her why did she went back to
school again if she was certified to teach regular English classes to students who knew
English very well, she said I loved the students, the smaller classes... and the mission
of teaching those students English and about the American culture (Interviewee).
I believe that the following will explain why this person inspired me not only to
learn English, but to go to college and to become a bilingual teacher myself. I asked
her what her goal in teaching was, what does she want to achieve in her students?
And this is what she replied; I want their English proficiency, in reading, writing,
listening and speaking to increase and progress. However to me it is much more
important for them to know that they have great potential in life. I want to equip
them with skills and wisdom that
The American Dream in the Works of John Steinbeck and...
Two writers who come quickly to my mind whenever I hear or see images of
American patriotism are John Steinbeck and Hunter S. Thompson. As different as
these two men are, their writing is similar in that the American Dream constantly fails
their characters. Both seek to define America and the American Dream, however, it
remains seemingly elusive, and both writers fail to find it.
I choose Steinbeck and Thompson because, to me, their writing styles are the
same. They have the same lust for language and powerful writing. Their subjects
are contemporary; they are not necessarily moral or upright, but are average people.
Both view the world in the same sad way, that people are as easily led to beauty as
deceit, joy to sorrow and life to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personal journalism is only worth reading if something exciting or out of the
ordinary happens, and takes a certain touch. (As human beings, we tend to go for the
exciting. In Travels, Steinbeck may as well have printed how many times he
changed his underwear). Travels is a failure all in itself, as Steinbeck throws his
characteristic prose out the window.
Thompson also goes on the road. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey
to the Heart of the American Dream, while a smashing success, is a two fold failure.
First, Thompson and his attorney (Oscar Zeta Acosta; the attorney is never named,
except, some think, in the urgent speed letter as Dr. Gonzo) also fail to find the
American Dream. With all its opportunities for sex, drugs, and money, they simply
can t find it, no matter how hard they try. The second failure is one on part of
Thompson; he edited the manuscript at least five or six times, destroying his goal of
quot;buying a big fat red notebook and writing things basically as they happened
quot;. The book is not true gonzo journalism, as it had been tainted by editing as well
as Acosta s threats of libel.
Perhaps the heart of the American Dream for these two writers is Steinbeck s The
Grapes of Wrath and Thompson s Hell s Angels and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Grapes was written near the end of the Great Depression and published in 1939.
Interestingly enough,
Personal Narrative Essay On Race Track
Horses are full of energy as I was unloading our pacer from the trailer he leapt and
hit with his front hooves with a thump and just about knocked me down once we
was out and around the truck! We arrived early as we usually do and we was starving
our stomachs were growling. So dad and I took a walk through the fair as all the
rides were starting up, and kids were running around having fun with their friends. I
was beyond glad that it was a cool rainy day or else we would have been miserable in
the heat. We borrowed a friends truckto go into town. We had discovered that the
right front tire was low on air, so we had went around Troy driving to find
somewhere to pump up the tire. Dad was so aggravated and concentrated on finding
somewhere to pump the tire up he forgot what we really even borrowed the truck
for! We went back to the racetrack and it turns out that they had a air pump at their
barn that we did not know about. We sat and joked around and caught up with all the

Then suddenly she dropped over and couldn t get back up. Everyone was curious
and was going to the fence where she was to see what happened. She laid there for
a good 10 minutes while the vet and others were trying to figure out what was
wrong and if she was still alive. I went over also and as soon as I seen her I knew
what had happened. She had tied up she had a huge knot in her stomach. I felt the
pain for her owner as he stood there not knowing what to do while this vet was
clueless and was obviously not very experienced. The two year old filly died lying on
the track causing the races to be delayed. A blanket was covering her and they got
her off of the track with a truck and
Characteristics Affecting The Choice Of Road Carriers...
1.INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this assignment is to study the characteristics affecting the choice of
road carriers based on discrete choice. Different road carriers have different economic
characteristics and are consistent with its competition, shippers and carriers have
different preferences when deciding on the choice of road carrier. Currently, a surplus
and scarcity of different transport infrastructures can be seen in South Africa and
various other developed and developing countries. Large communal infrastructure
which includes railways, airports, and seaports, cannot meet current freight demands.
Road transport in the form of highways offers surplus capacity for freight transport.
Significantly very little to no research has been done on road freight demand models
compared to other modes of transportation. The main cause for this is the absence of
current and relevant freight demand data. Freight demand data is an expensive and
tedious process to obtain. In South Africa, freight is progressively more transported
by means of road; this results in a large variation of negative philosophies, external
effects including congestion, different types of pollution, and accidents. This has led
to public authorities attempting to reduce the road freight predominance.
2.TRANSPORTATION AND FREIGHT DEMAND CHARACTERISTICS
2.1Transportation can be grouped into two transportation forms: This includes private
transportation and public transportation.
2.1.1Public
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Black Holes
The sixty symbols website has quite the collection of intriguing astronomical
theories and interviews, but I specifically chose that of the black hole that contains
interviews by Omar Almaini, Ed Copeland, Tony Padilla, Meghan Gray and Mike
Merrifield from the University of Nottingham. The video began by a man
revealing to his audience that he is often questioned about his personal opinion on
black holes, which he informs us that of course he sees them as frightening and
intimidating but goes on to refer to them as cuddly . Upon further explanation he
points out two small (but different sized), round, black balls of fabric (that seemed
to be knitted) that were gifts for his sister in law and they are meant to be
representation of black holes with their solid black exterior. This seems like a useless
example, but after thinking about it more critically I realize that I wasn t... Show more

After his brief time on the screen it changes to another interviewer, female this time,
who continues his statement by adding that material comes together under the force
of gravity and tries to fight but get too much material you can t overcome that force
and eventually mathematics and laws of physics take us into this strange regime .
The next series of speakers are broken into approximately 30 seconds of screen time
in which they explain pieces of what causes a black hole. The next screen continues
with a man who explains that black holes occur simply when a star dies and
another speaker elaborates on what they are by explaining them as something that s
got many masses of a sun that has collapsed on its own gravitational pull and a lot
of mass that is packed in a very small region, eventually collapses to the point where
not even light can escape from it and it forms what has been called an event
Integrated Marketing Communications ( Imc ) Essay
Integrated Marketing Communications Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC)
is a simple concept that helps to ensure that the communications between the
promotional implementations are interconnected properly so that they all work
together harmoniously. This concept is also something that is not new in the world
of marketing. IMC is the coordination of the promotional mix elements (advertising,
public relations, sales promotion, personal selling, direct marketing, and online
marketing/social media) with each other and with the other elements of the brand s
marketing mix (product, place, price) such that all elements speak with one voice.
(Shimp, 12). The objective of marketing is to produce bottom line results by
increasing sales and high investment returns. Marketing campaigns establish long
term goals in pursuance of increasing the value of a brand over time while sales
promotions set short term goals as a means to sway consumers toward a particular
brand. In order for a marketing strategy to be successful, awareness of the brand
needs increasing as well as changing potential consumer s attitude about a product, a
company or services that are being offered. Increased brand awareness is not only one
of the most common marketing communication objectives; it is also typically the
first for a new company. (Kokemuller, 1). When advertising, identifying the target
audience is one of the first things that need to be done. Identify the target audience

Tinker Vs. Des Moines Case Study
In Tinker vs. Des Moines case is about a group of students doing a silent protest
against the Vietnam War. The students plan was to wear the armbands from
December 14 through New Years, but before the silent protest started the students
were told by the principle of Des Moines that if they wear the black armbands to
school they would be suspended. Four students students still decided to wear the
black armbands to school and they were suspended, they were only allowed to
come back if they decided not to wear it any more. The students didn t come back to
school until after New Years. Then the four students decided to sue the school for not
letting the students have free speech. That s when the Tinker vs. Des Moines case
came to be.
In the Tinker vs. Des Moines case I believe Fortas had the stronger argument because
he used the First amendment as evidence yet he provides more detail and prof to
defend the students. He says First Amendment rights, applied in light of the special
characteristics of the school environment, are available to teachers and students. It
can hardly be argued that either students or teachers shed their constitutional rights to
freedom of speech or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed the students did not have the to protest. Black wrote a dissenting opinion
in which he argued that the First Amendment does not provide the right to express
any opinion at any time. Because the appearance of the armbands distracted students
from their work, they detracted from the ability of the school officials to perform
their duties, so the school district was well within its rights to discipline the students.
(Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District. Oyez, 8 Jun. 2018,
www.oyez.org/cases/1968/21.) to me that was a weak argument, it seemed like he

Evidence In Paradise Lost
Paradise Lost is a documentary that tells the story of three teenage boys that were
accused of murdering Christopher Byers, Michael Moore, and Steve Branch. The
three teenagers, Jessie Misskelley, Damien Echols, and Jason Baldwin were
convicted and sentenced to life for the murder of these three little boys. After 18
years of imprisonment, the state realized that they mess up and gave the chance for
Misskelley, Echols, and Baldwin to declare themselves guilty. As a result, they were
free, but still with hopes that things would clear out and they finally declare them
completely innocent of the death of these boys. The case of the West Memphis

They lacked evidence, their interrogation was improperly manifested, and not all

they probably didn t do it just because they didn t receive a fair trial. Somewhere

this time period and city weren t all into believing in satanic rituals, then maybe the
case would have taken different directions. All this case was basically based on
prejudice towards the kids who were a little different than the other ones. The insane
part is that there wasn t any physical and specific evidence presented to convict these
teenagers to life imprisonment. In conclusion, the way the court approached this case

All Lives Matter Movement Essay
He shot Trayvon Martin due to self defense , that is what he told the police officers
once they arrived. Zimmerman ended up facing no charges for what he had done
to him. Later on the people created an All Lives Matter Movement and that was
specifically going towards the Black Lives Matter Movement and to say that all
lives matter. All Lives Matter movements intentions were to go against Black Lives
Matter. There were different perspectives of how people viewed the All Lives
Matter Movement. Some of the viewers viewed it as a movement to unite all races
and did not want a separation in the races. This all leads to the question, is All Lives
Matter a positive or negative movement? The All Lives Matter movement is a
negative movement because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was taken as a disrespect to the nation. But for the players it was not a
disrespect they were taking a knee to highlight racial injustice and police brutality
in America. Donald Trump took this as a disrespect and not being honored. He felt
this because of the NFL who took a knee, which was showing disrespect for our
country and for the NBA because they did not want to go to the white house.
Donald trump has also been tweeting about what happened and he has been
disrespecting many of the NBA and NFL players. His tweets are making people
think it is okay to say certain things now. Overall, not just the NFL but ever since
he s been in the presidency you hear and see more situations of supremacists
thinking they are better than African Americans. The thing is that even if we live in
a color blind society the things he is saying is not right. Our soldiers did not fight
for us to to stand up during the national anthem, the fought for we could have a
choice to either stand or sit during the national anthem. Racisms has never gone
away it has just been represented in a different way. By creating laws that target the
minority, like African Americans. As of 2016, the current president of the united
states has created his platform of racism. He has brought out racism to the point
where it is not hidden anymore. He even encourages people to act the way they did

Similarities Between Northern And Southern Art During
The...
Northern and Southern art during the renaissance have some similarities and
many differences. Southern artwork is filled very fine detailed pieces of art
showing off very wealthy individuals in politics or religion, but on the Northern
half of Europe art shows the very rural aspect of human life. Many of these
differences can be represented by the Northern works of Piero della Francesca
Resurrection and the Southern works of Pieter Brueghal s The Census at Bethlehem.
Della francesca s Resurrection depicts Jesus during the resurrection triumphantly
standing over four soldiers as they sleep in front of his tomb. The meaning of this
fresco is to show how the heavens will always prevail over the human race. The
picture also has newly planted trees
Dbq 4 The Jewish People
Q8. The first picture that had stood out to me was the one where the Jewish people
were standing in two lines in front of the officers. The men, women, and children all
stood awaiting the officers who stood in front of them. The Jewish people stood
there unaware of what was to come. In this picture, the Jewish people are still seen
wearing their clothes, coats, hats, etc. wearing what they had brought with them.
They all still had their shoes on and their hair was still upon their heads. The reason I
bring these points up is because shortly after this photo would be taken, their lives
would surely be changed forever. I can t help but think that in a few minutes they
would no longer possess their clothes, shoes, hair, golden teeth, or anything... Show

This photo may look like it just shows a large group of people standing in a line, it
shows so much beyond that. This photo contains Jewish men, women, and children
awaiting a horrible fate. The officers in the photo would be the ones who would
decided rather someone would live or die. The worst part about that, is that most
of the officers would not lose a single night of sleep no matter how many families
they separated or how many people they had condemned to death that day. The
Jewish people s fate would be decided by one man s decision to send them left or
right, that is what it came down to. This thought had a huge impact on me, by
looking at this photo, I would be looking at people who were minutes away from
their gruesome deaths. Many of them had no idea what was about to happen. In a
few short minutes, they would be torn away from their family members, stripped of
all of their belongings and clothing, they would be stripped of their dignity. Some of
the Jews would be sent off to work if the generals had picked them to, the rest would
be burned to death in the ovens. In my opinion, this photo has a lot more meaning to
it then people would originally
Legal Aid In Criminal Justice
One thing that needs to be changed within the civil justice system is a victims right
to counsel, especially involving domestic violence victims that have a low income.
The President of the Legal Services Corporation, James J. Sandman quotes that Most
Americans don t realize that you can have your home taken away, your children
taken away and you can be a victimof a domestic violence, but have no constitutional
right to a lawyer to protect you Basically, the abuser is entitled to free legal

Communities should work together, communicate, organize and help their fellow

funded through good will contributions. However, sadly we live in a world where a

Essay On The Kite Runner. quot; The Kite Runnerquot; Theme Analysis Essay by The Reading Redhead TpT

  • 1. Essay On The Kite Runner Crafting an essay on "The Kite Runner" can be a challenging task, as the novel by Khaled Hosseini is rich in complex themes, intricate character relationships, and emotional depth. The narrative delves into the intricacies of guilt, redemption, and the impact of personal choices on one's life. To encapsulate the essence of the novel within the confines of an essay requires a thorough understanding of the plot, characters, and the socio-cultural context presented in the book. One of the challenges lies in dissecting the multifaceted characters like Amir, Hassan, and Baba, and analyzing their evolving relationships against the backdrop of a changing Afghanistan. The exploration of themes such as betrayal, loyalty, and the quest for redemption demands a nuanced approach to ensure that the essay captures the nuances of Hosseini's storytelling. Furthermore, the writer must navigate the delicate balance between summarizing the plot and providing insightful analysis. A superficial overview may fail to convey the depth of the narrative, while excessive focus on details may result in a lack of coherence. Striking the right balance is crucial to maintain the essay's flow and coherence. Moreover, delving into the cultural and historical aspects of Afghanistan, as portrayed in "The Kite Runner," adds another layer of complexity. It requires extensive research to contextualize the events and characters within the broader socio-political landscape, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of the novel's setting. In summary, writing an essay on "The Kite Runner" demands a meticulous approach, combining literary analysis with a deep understanding of the novel's themes, characters, and cultural backdrop. Successfully navigating these complexities can result in an essay that not only summarizes the key elements of the story but also provides a thoughtful interpretation of the profound themes embedded in the narrative. For those seeking assistance in tackling such literary essays or exploring a variety of topics, resources like HelpWriting.net offer a platform where similar essays and more can be ordered, providing support and guidance in navigating the intricacies of academic writing. • 2. Summary Of Paul David Tripp s Dangerous Calling A church is a house of worship where Christians gather to worship and offer sacrifices. Though all churches have a core function to serve God, they have different doctrines and ways of worship this, therefore, leads to a difference in preference of the believers as to which church to go to and to move away. For a church to stand, it has various things that it should practice. Many authors have different views concerning the same. This work is hence going to give a report on how to keep the church standing by different authors. The biblical counselor Paul David Tripp in his book Dangerous Calling addresses the challenges and temptations that are exclusive to or intensified by pastoral ministry. In his counseling ministry, Tripp has seen all, too much proof of an actual collapse in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They require the back up of members of the church; it is, therefore, a necessity that whoever is called to accomplish a certain task in the ministry should adhere to it so that everyone has the role to play. It requires prayers and nurturing of talents such as singing. The church should hence be equipped with instruments so and youths be trained in their operations such that pastoral ministry and other young ministries in a church are brought together through various functions to do missions. Stetzer and Dodson in their book Comeback Churches where they found out that a church grows exponentially at its beginning, it then enters a plateau stage and finally it begins to decline. It shows that there is an increasing trend of the un churched people. The book Comeback Churches outlines the measures that the churches at a plateau stage should put in place so that they begin to grow again and never decline. The book identifies five important tools to rejuvenate the church, intentional evangelism, vibrant faith, leadership, lay ministry and celebrating but orderly worship (Stetzer and Mike
  • 3. Who Is The Protagonist In Desiree s Baby Fabianne De Pinedo Professor Justin Paige ENC 1102 Wednesday, November 19, 2014 Kate Chopin s Short Story Desiree s Baby Kate Chopin s short story Desiree s Baby addresses the topic of racism in an antebellum U.S. segregated society. The text is focused on emphasizing society s tendency to discriminate without actually understanding why it takes on such attitudes and without realizing the harmful effects that racism has on its victims. The Antebellum South promoted the idea that African Americans should be considered slaves and that it would be wrong for a white individual to treat such a person as an equal. The central character in the story, Desiree, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even with the fact that they are both women, La Blanche is discriminated to a larger degree in comparison to Desiree on account of being African American. It is actually intriguing to observe how Armand does not feel the need to criticize La Blanche on account of her having children who are one quarter black. Even with the fact that it is likely that one of this children belongs to him, he does not feel any form of attachment toward him and actually feels that there is nothing wrong with the woman or with the boy they are both associated with the African American community and it would thus be pointless for him to have any kind of expectations from them. Armand is generally interested in being with someone with whom he can identify with. The fact that his child puts him at risk of being criticized by the rest of his community makes him want to abandon both his wife and his child, eventually putting across his disproval of a person of African American ancestry being provided with the same privileges as a white individual. The white man s is the only real position of power here, even as the apotheosis of white womanhood, Desiree, as her name implies, has only a tenuous power, one that is dependent on her being desired and, I would add, on an always instable myth of purity of blood. (McCullough
  • 4. The Price For A Barrel Of Oil Currently the price for a barrel of oil is around 33 American dollars. However, around 2010 the price of a barrel was approaching 150 American dollars, which caused the drivers of crude oil to lose money. In addition, everyone had to pay more for gasoline, but now it has become a more reasonable price. In Michigan, the company named Atlas began to struggle when gasoline prices reached an all time high with their employees. The employees typically were paid by how many loads they were able to drop into the ground. Due to the gasoline prices being so high, the drivers were losing moneyevery week because no one was purchasing the gasoline. Therefore, many employees that had been with the company for several years started to leave and go with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now granted the new employees would only make a smaller percentage extra per load, but it was better than making less than $300 a day. At times, the drivers were making $150 a day and putting in a full eight hours, which is very frustrating when they had previously been making a higher amount with less amount of time spent in the truck. In order for the company to survive, the resource department then decided that the cost of healthcare would be cut as well as sick days and vacation time. Therefore, the company in essence did not lose a lot of money by changing how to pay the employees. They just changed the overall benefits to the drivers. The company decided to offer an insurance that is either an HMO or a point of service plan, thus saving the company millions of dollars in healthcare costs. However, the drivers lost the ability to go to any physician because the PPO plan was taken away. Furthermore, the company would take away the drivers vacation days before for their sick days, thus ensuring the driver could not take a vacation. On the other hand, the drivers were still paid around the same amount of money that they used to be making, but the benefits that were offered were cut dramatically. Therefore, the employee had to weigh out whether it was worth having a better health insurance and vacation time to how much
  • 5. Controlled Release Nifedipine Case Summary Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker which can be used alone or in conjunction with other medications for treatment of angina and hypertension. It decreases the contractility of the arterial smooth muscle as well as the subsequent vasoconstriction through inhibition of calcium ions influx through the L type calcium channels. As a result, the coronary and systemic arteries become dilated and the delivery of oxygen to the myocardial tissue is increased. Furthermore, the total peripheral resistance is decreased as well as the systemic bloodpressure and afterload. When being prescribed with controlled release nifedipine, Mrs Luv would be advised to take great caution because she may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug because of her age. She would be instructed to swallow the medication whole (no chewing, breaking or crushing the tablet) with a glass of water and not to abruptly stop taking the medication without consultation with her physician. She would be informed that controlled release nifedipine may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, her age is a concern as this dictates her ability to react to the drug which ultimately affects the effectiveness of the medication. Second, she is pre diabetic, hence we should be looking for an antihypertensive with a hypoglycaemic action to at least reduce the possibility of her having Type II Diabetes Mellitus whilst managing her high blood pressure. Third, she has liver impairment and unfortunately, she is causing further liver damage through her drinking habits. This presents a challenge to look for an antihypertensive drug which is the least hepatotoxic so as not to contribute to the liver impairment she currently has. Finally, it is already established that Mrs Luv has poor compliance when it comes to her health. Therefore, a medication with a frequency of once a day is better as it will be easier for her to
  • 6. The Effects Of Fairy Tales When thinking about fairy tales many of us, if not all of us, revert back to childhood. When we were children some of the best memories are those of the movies we used to watch; Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Frog Prince, things of those sorts. What many of us do not know is that fairy tales go back farther than that of Disney s productions. In this course, we have been learning about different views of fairy tales. One of the views that we have focused a lot on is told by Bruno Bettelheim in his book, The Uses of Enchantment. In his eyes fairy tales have the most effect on children and the way children grow up. The second view that we have learned about is J.R.R Tolkien s in his essay, On Fairy Stories . Tolkien claims that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tolkien first states that recovery includes return and renewal of health. [Recovery] is a re gaining regaining of a clear view. (Tolkien, J.R.R (1947 ed.) p.19) By this Tolkien means that recovery is not seeing the world for what it is but rediscovery of the banal, of the day to day world. Recovery is seeing things in a different light, and that is what fairy tales help to do. Fairy tales take the everyday world that we live and paint them in a light that allows us to offset what is going on in our world today, or to restore the visions that we have of our lives. He even relates this theory of recovery to himself in the quote For the story maker who allows himself to be free with Nature can be her lover not her slave. It was in fairy stories that I first divined the potency of the words, and the wonder of the things, such as stone, and wood, and iron; tree and grass; house and fire; bread and wine. (Tolkien, J.R.R (1947 ed.) p.20). I agree strongly with this in the sense that without these stories of fantasy how are we ever going to recover and see our world as great again with all the bad that happens. Children are not to be concerned with the horrors of the world as adults
  • 7. The Problem Of West Mendham In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in order to fulfil one s own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short termgains and thus fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains. Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction. However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional
  • 8. Rock And Roll Vs Blues Music When we think of rock and roll, we think electric guitars, amplified sounds, and intricate styles of play. But, rock and roll would have not existed without simple 12 bar forms, antiphonic textures, or walking bass lines used in blues music. Blues music is one of the most influential characteristics that gave birth to rock and roll. Rock and roll was influenced by elements of bluesinstrumentation, rhythm, and purpose. Both rock and roll and blues are composed of drums, guitars, and vocals. As blues music developed, it pushed the emergence of rock and roll more and more. Early rock and roll followed a similar rhythm to blues music. The goal of both these genres of music is to create music with raw emotion. The blues emotion driven style of music inspired the same pattern to be followed by rock and roll. Great examples of two songs that are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Devil Got My Women by Skip James is a song from the blues style of music. Rock Awhile by Goree Carter is a song from the early rock and roll style of music. Skip James music was never intended for purposes of entertainment, and his artistic temperament was known to be volatile and unpredictable. His music was dark and mysterious, personal and bleak and intended primarily for his own emotional release. He often played his guitar with an open D Minor tuning (D A D F A D) resulting in the deep sound. Skip James was an exceptional guitarist, and his sound often revolved around his trademark E minor cross note tuning and an eerie falsetto vocal delivery that could send shivers up ones spine. In Devil Got My Women, James addresses the struggle between the flesh and the spirit, as well as good and evil, contains ones of the most classic lyrics of any blues song. Many blues men refer to the devil, but with Skip James, one can clearly hear the anger, jealously, and pain. Skip James also used a fingerpicking style that was fast and clean using the entire register
  • 9. Examples Of Dystopian In The Hobbit 1. Utopia Utopia is used to describe what is an imaginary place, or state of being, in which everything is perfect. The word was first used by Sir Thomas Moore, in his book of the same name, which was published in 1516. In the book it is the name of a fictional island, on which Moore, imagines an ideal society. He derived utopia from the Greek, ou=not and topos=place. Tween In the current age, tween is used to describe a child who is not quite a teenager (around 11 or 12 years old), but is within a year or two of becoming one. The word was created by author J.R.R. Tolkien, known for penning the popular Lord of the Rings Trilogy. In his novel the Hobbit, tween does not quite match the contemporary meaning. When Tolkien, created the word in 1937, it was meant to refer to a Hobbit, between the ages of 20 and 33. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mentor Mentor, is yet another word that comes from a work of literature, though it is far older than any of the other words on this list. Today a mentor is considered a wise and trusted counsellor or teacher, which is essentially the original meaning. Homer was the first to use the word in his epic poem, the Odyssey. Estepr Theory Lab The purpose of this lab was to determine the atomic structure of small molecules and ions which we did by drawing Lewis Dot Structures, drawing molecular geometries, and using the VSEPR model on a computer. The VSEPR Theory states that molecular geometries of molecules can be predicted through their number of electronpairs on the central atombecause these electrons will repulse each other as much as they can while still being bound to the central atom. The Lewis Dot Structures and the molecular geometries that we were asked to draw were in order for us to have background knowledge of how each moleculewas shaped before we had to make them on the computer. Most of the angles we calculated in the molecular geometry section of our lab were similar to the ones we predicted in Section II.C. For example, our model for ClF5 was predicted to have less than a 90 degree angle and our calculated result on the computer was 87.52 degrees. Also, the CO32 predicted model was 120 degree angle and we got 119.99 degrees which rounds up to the predicted model. However, some of the angles we calculated did not agree with the predictions we made. For example, CH3OH was predicted to have a bond angle of less than 109.5 degrees for both the C and O bond but our computer model showed an angle of 120.08 degrees for the C bond and 163.40 for the O bond. The HOMO orbital is antibonding with sigma bonds. The HOMO 1 orbital is a bonding pi orbital. The HOMO 2 orbital is a bonding, sigma orbital. The LUMO orbital is an antibonding pi orbital. The LUMO 1 is a bonding pi orbital. We can tell this because antibonding orbitals have a gap between the two atoms while bonding orbitals do not. A sigma bond occurs through axial overlap between atoms. A pi bond occurs with lateral overlapping of

In this sense, diagnosis exists whether or not explicit diagnostic models are used (Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006). Although these views may not be explicitly stated, as implicit models they still have a powerful capacity to guide how we think about situations that we face in our company, how we talk about those situations, and what we deem to be appropriate courses of action (Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006). The apparent option of EA Inc. not using a model is not a real option; the choice is whether EA Inc. should use one that is explicit or one that is implicit. While implicit models may provide valuable insights based on accumulated experience, they do have limitations. First, they are likely to be based on the limited experience of one or a few employees at EA Inc.; thus, their generalizing ability may be uncertain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, the understanding of distorted speech declines rapidly and dramatically with aging and hearing ability (Divenyi et al., 2005). Even with a favorable speech to noise ratio, like in a sound treated suite, a mild high frequency hearing loss can affect speech understanding (Lunner, Rudner, RГ¶nnberg, 2009). Reverberation and signal processing in noise are the greatest obstacles to understanding speech (Gordon Salant, 2005). Reverberation has a smoothing effect on the sound waveform which causes distortion of the signal (Gordon Salant, 2005). This phenomenon occurs in large, open rooms which is why many adults complain about understanding speech in noisy restaurants. Elderly, hearing impaired listeners indicate that they have the most difficulty understanding continuous input in the presence of noise as opposed to difficulty understanding just single words and phrases in the presence of noise (Pichora Fuller, 2003).When the peripheral auditory system is already damaged from typical auditory aging processes, adding more distortion to the signal decreases the listener s ability to understand. These deficits indicate a slowing of perceptual processes. The question remains, how quickly do these components decline, at what rate and to what degree does speech understanding diminish (Divenyi et al., 2005)? • 15. The Colonization Of Virginia And William Shakespeare s The... In the 1600s, many countries separately set out in exploration for several reasons: for religious expansion and freedom, for the establishment of new land in order to accommodate for growing populations, and for an ultimate economic opportunity. While this allowed for the expansion of civilization and ideas that ultimately led to the creation of the United States, it came at the cost of the abuse and exploitation of entire populations of natives that sometimes led to their complete erasure. The natives of the land, presently known as America, claimed they were subject to these horrors for no more of a reason than fun and the benefit of the incoming colonists as a labor source. However, many colonists convey these experiences with a sort of justification that these natives were, in reality, uncivilized savages who failed to succumb to their wishes of adhering to their culture. These adverse accounts of the growth of the colonies are still heavily debated today due to the lack of truth and bias that exists within the written evidence provided by both sides. While colonist views are challenged in William Shakespeare s The Tempestby expressing the natives in a sympathetic light, it is clearly reflected in John Smith s General History of Virginia and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson through the representation of natives as sadistic and inhumane creatures. Despite the differing accounts on both sides, it is fairly universal that the natives

The purpose of this paper is to examine Employment At Will and the advantages and disadvantages to both the employer and employee. It will analyze various workplace scenarios and determine the cause and effect. It will also examine the state of Georgia s At Will policy and a recent case involving it. What is Employment At Will EmploymentAt Will is a term used in U.S. labor law granting the employer the right to terminate any employee for any reason and without providing any warning. In the United States, employees without a written employment contract generally can be fired for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all; judicial exceptions to the rule seek to prevent wrongful terminations (Muhl, 2001, p.1). When employees acknowledge At Will employment during hiring they lose claim for loss of dismissal. The employer also has the right at any time to change the terms of employment at any time with little or no repercussions. The At Will presumption can be modified by the employer via a contract with the employee. This process normally happens when specific work is required for a specific duration. All states honor some form of At Will employment with a varying number of exceptions. Even so Employment At Will remains a controversial subject in the study of law
  • 19. Impressionism And Influence In Art In The 19th And 20th... As art practices evolved during the 19th and 20th centuries, the elite of society became an object of criticism and obscurity as subject matter, whereas the working class began to appear in artworks in a more open and positive light. This shift in artworks depicting the working class in favor of aristocracy is clear in the analysis of three different periods, with the works of three different artists: Jean FranГ§ois Millet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Vera Mukhina. Millet depicts the working class forthright in his works, such as The Gleaners (1857); he focuses on the futility of labor and the conditions of the emerging middle classin reaction to the extravagance and leisure of the aristocracy around him. Renoir utilizes an Impressionistic style to depict the working class neighborhood and surroundings he lives in; in paintings such as Luncheon of the Boating Party (1881), he exposes the leisurely lifestyle of the working class and their integration into the rest of society. The working class could now intermix with the aristocracy in a way that had never before been plausible. Mukhina, however, like other Socialist Realist artists, represents the working class in her sculpture Worker and Collective Farm Girl (1937) as a powerful and driving force; in the piece, noticeably absent is any reference to the elite in society. Marking a great departure from earlier representations of the working class, Mukhina places the worker front and center in a positive light. Together, these

A notable hydrocarbon clean up was the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line, which contained 21 contaminated radar military sites. Currently, eight of them are clean and two are currently being cleaned. If these sites were ignored, the surrounding environment would be a wasteland and no economic benefit would be derived from that area (Stones, 2004). If I implemented lab reports into my classroom they would not be traditional ones. I would create my own template for my students to follow, which would be made up sections such as a summary of the experiment, how it can be applied to the real world, and an explanation of the mathematics they used to complete the experiment. This process primarily affects human beings and fungi. In humans, it signifies the accumulation of various changes which occur over time. Some people would think I would be referring to the Puritan society that existed around the 1600 s, but sadly I am referring to today s society and how a famous person s mistakes show up on social media, covers of magazines, and every talk showhost throughout America. For example, recently the break up of beloveded Brad Pittand Angelina Jolie showed up everywhere in less than twenty four hours. Word spreads quickly on social media because someone can share something and in less than a minute hundreds of other people can spread the same news and before we know it, the news can be trending on all social media. For example, Twitter is a huge social media platform where a small hashtag or news can blow up within minutes. On October 3rd news was let out by CNN News Twitter account that Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room . This news spread fast and in less than an hour the news was everywhere. Not only did CNN tweet about it, but so did The New York Times, TMZ, and CNBC. This is interesting because instead of these platforms ( except TMZ) talking about important news like the hurricane that hit Haiti the world was more focused on a celebrity who almost got hurt instead of people that are actually dying due to a natural disaster. This goes to show how the scale of importance for our society has tipped. Celebrity news outway actual news that the young population today should know. This has been the way people have lived for generations. It is like we are putting this one percent of the population up on a stage (like the Puritans) and only value their experiences. This can be related to the Puritan days because they would only ever gather in the town center to see someone on the scaffold doing a punishment instead of meeting in the town center talking about worldwide news. In both the Puritan and today s time our society focuses more on people that are known or known for doing something bad in most cases instead of real issues that are happening. This really affects the way the society sees things that are important and unimportant because if it is not trending on Twitter why should anyone know about

The Outbreak Of Acute Gastroenteritis Introduction An outbreak of infection or foodborne illness may be defined either as two or more linked cases of the same illness, or as the situation when the observed number of cases unaccountably exceeds the expected number (Food standard Agency, 2006). However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines it as, any disease of an infectious or toxic nature caused by or thought to be caused by the consumption of food or water Norovirus is the most common known cause of infectious intestinal disease in Western Europe and North America [1 3] and one of the leading causes of foodborne outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis [4 9]. It has been estimated that there are over 600,000 cases of norovirus infection in England each year [10], with infection rates peaking during the winter months that lend the disease the initial description winter vomiting disease (Mounts et al., 2000 EFSA). Background Noroviruses were first recognized in the year 1968 following an outbreak of gastroenteritis at an elementary school in Norwalk, Ohio in the USA (Adler and Zickl,1969). For many years they were known as Norwalk like viruses (NLV), or as small round structured viruses (SRSVs), because of their appearance when viewed under an electron microscopy. Norovirus belongs to the family Caliciviridae and is a non enveloped, single stranded positive RNA virus with a genome tail and a single capsid polypeptide molecular mass (Greenberg,1981). Norovirus have a characteristic surface morphology

If we can harness the most powerful parts of this communication while considering how to minimize the negative effects that are naturally inherent to this technology, we can advance even further into the future of humanity. If we dwell on the negative, while ignoring the positive aspects of this technology, like some media theorists, we could be obstructing progression with this technology, simply due to the fact we are focusing on the wrong traits overall. • 36. The Negative Impact Of Classical Liberalism During The... In response to the negative impacts of classical liberal policies such as laissez faire capitalism during the Industrial Revolution, many different political and social movements developed. With such things such as the labour unions and the recognition of the rights of women and other groups, liberalism evolved into modern liberalism. In order for classical liberalism to evolve, challenges should be implemented so that it can adapt to the needs of the society. Classical liberals gradually came to see the merits of some of their opponents views and modified the practical applications of some of their values and beliefs. These developments gradually evolved classical liberalism over time and eventually transforming into modern liberalism. The socialist critique of classical liberalism undermined the political, social, and economic foundations of the classical liberal state. Rather grudgingly, classical liberals began to recognize that some modification where necessary. Moreover, as the right to vote was extended to a wider range of voters, governments began to enact laws to protect the rights of workers, improving working conditions and addressing crucial issues globally. The labour unions and standards was an example of how the concept of equality and liberalism expanded. Times of Industrial Revolution stand out as pivotal turning points for all western nations that brought prosperity and fast paced expansion. Labour unions arose because there were many who wanted to improve

The government can control what they want their citizens to believe and think through propaganda. This creates fear in the citizens of both societies. By showing that the everything which the current government is doing better than the government in the past for it citizen. Both societies can be compared with each other by a figurehead which is worshipped by the citizens of the society, propaganda is used to control the citizens of the society and the ending of movie V for Vendetta and Nineteen Eighteen Four book contrast with each other in character development. The first topic that is going to be compared is that in both societies the leader is worshipped by the citizens. Many different facets of the business world make up organizational behavior including: motivation, personality, leadership, communication, and so much more. Another common stressor is physical setting: noise, lack of privacy, poor lighting, poor ventilation, poor temperature control, or inadequate sanitary facilities. Settings where there is organizational confusion or an overly authoritarian, laissez faire, or crisis centered managerial style are all psychologically stressful. (American Psychological Association, 2012) People are most productive when they are comfortable. If the office is too cold, too loud, unclean, etc. it could cause the employee to shift their focus off of the task they are doing and onto whatever it is that is causing their work environment to be less than comfortable. Finally, there are stressors in our personal lives that may have nothing to do with work but may spill over into our work lives. Things like divorce, birth of a child, death of a family member, and financial issues can cause stress in our personal lives. These stressors cause us to be distracted and we lose focus on what we are doing at work. This can cause accidents on the jobs or a decrease in productivity. Furthermore, as we let the stress of our personal lives spill over into our work lives we may become agitated, short tempered, and difficult to be around. Our attitude then begins to affect those working around us, which in turn causes stress in their lives. I am definitely guilty of letting the stress from my personal life affect my work. Even something as small as fighting with my husband

Both seek to define America and the American Dream, however, it remains seemingly elusive, and both writers fail to find it. I choose Steinbeck and Thompson because, to me, their writing styles are the same. They have the same lust for language and powerful writing. Thompson also goes on the road. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream, while a smashing success, is a two fold failure. First, Thompson and his attorney (Oscar Zeta Acosta; the attorney is never named, except, some think, in the urgent speed letter as Dr. Gonzo) also fail to find the American Dream. With all its opportunities for sex, drugs, and money, they simply can t find it, no matter how hard they try. The second failure is one on part of Thompson; he edited the manuscript at least five or six times, destroying his goal of quot;buying a big fat red notebook and writing things basically as they happened quot;. The book is not true gonzo journalism, as it had been tainted by editing as well as Acosta s threats of libel. Perhaps the heart of the American Dream for these two writers is Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath and Thompson s Hell s Angels and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Grapes was written near the end of the Great Depression and published in 1939. Interestingly enough,

Characteristics Affecting The Choice Of Road Carriers... 1.INTRODUCTION The purpose of this assignment is to study the characteristics affecting the choice of road carriers based on discrete choice. Different road carriers have different economic characteristics and are consistent with its competition, shippers and carriers have different preferences when deciding on the choice of road carrier. Currently, a surplus and scarcity of different transport infrastructures can be seen in South Africa and various other developed and developing countries. Large communal infrastructure which includes railways, airports, and seaports, cannot meet current freight demands. Road transport in the form of highways offers surplus capacity for freight transport. Significantly very little to no research has been done on road freight demand models compared to other modes of transportation. The main cause for this is the absence of current and relevant freight demand data. Freight demand data is an expensive and tedious process to obtain. In South Africa, freight is progressively more transported by means of road; this results in a large variation of negative philosophies, external effects including congestion, different types of pollution, and accidents. This has led to public authorities attempting to reduce the road freight predominance. 2.TRANSPORTATION AND FREIGHT DEMAND CHARACTERISTICS 2.1Transportation can be grouped into two transportation forms: This includes private transportation and public transportation. 2.1.1Public

Integrated Marketing Communications ( Imc ) Essay Integrated Marketing Communications Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) is a simple concept that helps to ensure that the communications between the promotional implementations are interconnected properly so that they all work together harmoniously. This concept is also something that is not new in the world of marketing. IMC is the coordination of the promotional mix elements (advertising, public relations, sales promotion, personal selling, direct marketing, and online marketing/social media) with each other and with the other elements of the brand s marketing mix (product, place, price) such that all elements speak with one voice. (Shimp, 12). The objective of marketing is to produce bottom line results by increasing sales and high investment returns. Marketing campaigns establish long term goals in pursuance of increasing the value of a brand over time while sales promotions set short term goals as a means to sway consumers toward a particular brand. In order for a marketing strategy to be successful, awareness of the brand needs increasing as well as changing potential consumer s attitude about a product, a company or services that are being offered. Increased brand awareness is not only one of the most common marketing communication objectives; it is also typically the first for a new company. (Kokemuller, 1). When advertising, identifying the target audience is one of the first things that need to be done. Identify the target audience through a channel of
