Case Study of Executive Holloware
Case of study of executive holloware
INTRODUCTION:
This document contains the case of study of Executive Holloware (EH), a company that
manufactures products that aimed at the top end of market with a commanded high price. The most
important product was the handmade silver plated tea sets.
In the following pages, a definition and specification of quality is presented and why it is important
for the company. It is also mention the main causes of the problems in the case of study, the
measure of quality in the stages during the manufacturing process and finally the recommendations
of steps for implementing quality improvements.
1. Why is quality important to Executive Holloware?
The term Quality is the core business for Executive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Oakland, 2003)
Quality is also specified in the internal process. This process needs to be measure and comparable
to the acceptable ranges in production to develop a product that fulfil the specifications and it also
requires the participation from everyone in the organization . (Maguad, 2006)
4. What are the underlying causes of the problems at Executive Holloware?
There are some problems presented in the EH case of study. First, the products developed by the
company are high value tea sets items, thus the necessity to maintain a standard performance to
produce a product without any defect. One cause of the problem is that there is no specific
definition of defect in the entire process. It is mentioned that the senior shop foreman does not
have a clear understanding of defect definition and this affect the correct performance of the entire
process because it represent in re working cost.
Other cause of problem is that each department does not maintain a close communication about the
relevance of the quality in the process. Paul realized that each department blame each other
regarding to the scratches and bruises of the product. Even the finance director did not has a clear
vision of the situation, therefore the lack of communication and process internal control
In the Organization, there were no specification clearly defined of quality and the metrics of quality
acceptance during the process, such as the clear definition of scratch and

Food Protein Derived Bioactive Peptides ( Bps )
Abstract
Food protein derived bioactive peptides (BPs) have been reported to trigger certain physiological
responses in the body, thereby influencing health positively. These peptides have attracted high
research and consumer interests due to their huge potential of use in functional foods and other
dietary interventions of disease control and health promotion. However, successful product
development is limited by the fact that current manufacturing processes are either difficult to scale
up, high in cost, or have the potential to affect the structure activity properties of these peptides. To
overcome these challenges, we have proposed in this review, the use of omic techniques and high
throughput simulation models to forecast the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Over the years, it has become a known fact that health and nutrition are intricately linked. Not only
do food nutrients supply the necessary biomolecules for various metabolic activities, but, in some
cases, food nutrients are able to trigger certain desirable physiological responses in the body. Food
proteins and hydrolysates thereof are amongst the most well studied bioactive molecules (Danquah
and Agyei, 2012). Bioactive peptides have been defined as protein hydrolysates which, upon entry
and absorption into the body, have the ability to induce certain desirable and physiologically
measurable hormone like activities(Korhonen and Pihlanto, 2006). Some biological functions
induced by these peptides include immunomodulatory, cytomodulatory, opiate, antihypertensive,
antimicrobial, antithrombotic and metal chelation activities (Möller et al. , 2008). As natural
products of food origin, bioactive peptides have a huge potential in health promoting functional
foods and therapeutic products(Korhonen, 2009).However, this potential is not being realised as a
result of certain bioprocess challenges. The lack of commercially viable processes for large scale

The Narrative Of The New Zealand
The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by
Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and
Vladislav as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in
Wellington, these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things
such as paying rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be
extremely difficult. What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and
cinematography, while also using a mixture of two genres, vampireand mockumentary, to comment
on contemporary social formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of
the filmhave been used to ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We
Do in the Shadows uses aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic
vampire has faced over the years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the
cinematic vampire has changed drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1),
which has resulted in the creation of the modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do
in the Shadows. Throughout film history three distinct periods of vampire narrative can be
observed. Initially, the first cinematic vampires were formally dressed and presented as the leading
villains in films, the second type showed more human

They plan to increase their revenue by offering Clayton s services, which include loan review,
surveillance, real estate management, as well as other services focusing on the single family rental
market.
On December 23rd, Radian Group discontinued the operation of one of their subsidiaries, Radian
Asset Assurance, and began the process of selling it. The sale of Radian Asset Assurance was a
strategic sale to allow Radian Group to be able to comply with new capital requirements expected
to be imposed during 2015.
The insurance industry, as a whole, has seen an increase in M A transactions since 2013. Property
and Casualty firms have not seen the same levels of activity, partly due to hesitant buyers concerned
with the smaller than expected rate increases among insurers.
Changes in Capital Structure
Radian Group issued new shares of common stock in 2013 and 2014. This issuance increased their
shares outstanding by 57,407 to 191,054 at the end of 2014.
Radian Group has also issued a series of Senior Notes over the past five years. Senior Notes with
interest rates varying from 5.375% to 9% are due at various intervals from 2013 to 2019.

6. Exposure The Grauballe Man Comparison Piece:
At the heart of the conflicts lay the constitutional status of Northern Ireland. The goal of the
unionist and overwhelmingly Protestant majority was to remain part of the United Kingdom. The
goal of the nationalist and republican, almost exclusively Catholic minority, was to become part of
the Republic of Ireland. Seamus Heaney s presence during the conflicts induced him to ponder upon
and write about the brutal and barbaric consequences in Northern Ireland. The poems in North
explore a number of intriguing and mysterious themes such as the national and cultural past of his
homeland, life, death, sex, gender, and land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The persona, by extension Heaney, likens himself to a comet. Not any comet, but a comet that
[is] lost. Though the comet is part of a wide universe, it is alone. This echoes Heaney s concerns.
He feels as though he is part of the wider community of Ireland, yet he feels psychologically
separated from all. He feels his voice cannot be heard, amongst the masses, that it is covered by
those million tons of light. A hyperbole is used here to depict the insignificance of the comet in
universe, and therefore Heaney in society. He feels worthless. Instead, Heaney wishes for a
meteorite. There is a change in tone from the second stanza to the third. The comet visible at
sunset is expected, it should appear. Yet, the falling star only sometimes appears. The former is
expected, whilst the latter is unpredictable. Heaney himself admires the meteorite, the falling
star. This is shown through the use of the exclamation mark. Unlike the comet which typically
follows a cycle, a meteorite is free, it does not need to abide to a marked trail. Rather, it is able to
float and fall whenever and wherever it wishes. This is metaphoric for Heaney; he wants to be
able to express himself freely. Yet, the political circumstances in Northern Ireland do not allow for
such, it forces him to choose sides, to be the voice for

Oral History Interview Dope Accoley
For my Oral History Project, I interviewed Dope Accoley Tossah, my mother, on her nursing
career. During the interview, she had a lot of great things to say. One of the topics she talked
about was having to grow up with her parents in Togo. She stated that both her parent s jobs had
to do with business and her father was a factor in her decision to become a nurse. Since her
father was the city s director of the Red Cross organization, he partially cajoled her into
becoming a nurse. This in fact paid off as she went on to volunteer at Red Cross and studied there
until she obtained her certificate. She even quoted Now I have the desire to do those kinds of
jobs. Her quote kind of inspires me to stay aware of my interests, since it might lead

Perfect Marriage In Kate Hemingway s Hills Like White...
Looking from the Inside
Anne and Ted have been married for 25 years, dated for 10 and have 3 kids together. On the
outside it looks like have the picture perfect marriage. One day he packed up his things and left
their home and relationship of over 30 years with no explanation whatsoever. Couples will think the
world of their spouse and build their lives around them only to be disregarded when it suits them.
Spouses are left wondering what had happened that made their partners walked out on them after all
they have been through and the sacrifices both may have made. This is the time they realized they
do not know their partners as they thought they did and all the sacrifices made was not enough to
keep them. This is exhibited in the story The Storm by Kate Chopin where a couple seems to have
a perfect marriage, but the wife then she cheats on her husband with her ex lover. Then they
returned to their normal lives not telling neither of their partner about the adultery they committed.
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants a couple is having a heated argument about the
woman going for an abortion and how that would ease the tension in their relationship that the
pregnancy had brought. Calixta s cheating in The Storm sheds light on Hemingway s Hills Like
White Elephants helping me understand people s willingness to take risks to sustain relationships,
how difficult humans are to please and how unknowingly people live in lies. People are ready to

Version Control Strategy
When developing several systems, several versions of the same program are created. This can
happen for many different reasons. Some reasons can be a version for each saving point, a version
for large or miniscule changes, or a version created after each testing. Whatever the reason maybe,
controlling and managing these versions can be frustrating.
Eclipse has an additional system called Eclipse Git Team Provider (Egit). This program is
included in the package when downloading any of the Eclipse IDE s. This program is a version

Historically, executions have been around for a long time. The first established death penalty laws
date as far back as the Eighteenth Century B.C. but didn t make an appearance in the United States
until 1608 (Part 1, n.d.). Death penalty is seen as a form of accountability for someone s action.
Most easily understood when you take a life, you lose your life an eye for an eye. Nonetheless, over
time people have started humanizing the situation and creating controversy. The Fifth, Eighth, and
Fourteenth Amendments were interpreted as permitting the death penalty, until the early 1960s,
when it was suggested that the death penalty was a cruel and unusual punishment, and therefore

Is Myrtle Wilson the antithesis of Daisy Buchanan? Fitzgerald presents Myrtle and Daisy in
similar but different ways. For example, Fitzgerald presents them though they re appearance,
behaviour, how they perceive themselves and how others perceive them. Fitzgerald presents
Myrtle s appearance through light imagery suggesting she is a thickish figure of a woman
blocking out the light the lexes thickish figure suggest that Myrtle gives off a sensual ambience,
this also suggests that Myrtle is quite broad and blocks out the light . Oppositely Fitzgerald
presents Daisy as cool as their white dresses this demonstrates that daisy s appearance is light

The Experimenter Must Conduct Electrolysis Essay
The purpose of this experiment is to confirm Avogadro s number. To do this the experimenter
must conduct electrolysis. Electrolysis, as given to us in the experiment instructions, is where an
external power supply is used to drive an otherwise nonspontaneous reaction. A zinc strip and a
copper strip will be used as electrodes. Electrodes are devices that move electrons into or out of a
solution by conduction ( Definition ). The electrodes will be placed into a beaker of sulfuric acid.
By using the copper strip as the anode and the zincstrip as the cathode, the experimenter will make
the cell electrolytic in order to oxidize a copper electrode. The anode of a device is the terminal
where current flows in from outside and the cathode of a device is the terminal where current
flows out (Denker). By measuring the amount of copper that was deposited in the electroplating
process, the experimenter will be able to determine the average current in the reaction and
determine the amount of atoms in one mole of copper. The experimenter will then compare this
number to Avogadro s number, determining how accurate Avogadro s number is. In this
experiment, the experimenter will be using a LabQuest, a Vernier Current Probe, a 1.5 volt DC
power source, 2 connecting wires with alligator clips, an ohm resistor, a copper strip, and a zinc
strip to set up the experiment. The experimenter will also need the following: sand paper to clean a
strip of copper, an analytical balance to

Anna Sewell Research Paper
Anna Sewell was perhaps the only person whom book was called the first significant children s
story in English language. She was born in Norfolk, England on March 30, 1820. Her father was
Isaac Sewell (1793 1879), and her mother, Mary Wright Sewell (1798 1884) was a successful
writer of children s books in her own right. She faced many challenges and accomplishments in her
lifetime. Growing up she loved riding horses and telling stories. As a young girl, Anna was more
concerned about the humane treatment of horses and she often spent hours with her father
traveling to and from the station. She helped her mother edit her manuscripts from an early age
and published her own in 1877. Sewell received most of her education at home and had a younger
brother named Philip.
Sewell wrote the book Black Beauty the last seven years of her life. She began writing it 1871 and
published it in 1877. It was dedicated to including kindness, sympathy, and an understanding

Despite this, and most likely because of mistreatment of her injury, Sewell was lame for the rest
of her life and was unable to stand without a crutch or to walk for any length of time. She did
however travel to health spas in Germany and Spain to help cure her ankle injuries. Also, growing
up, she was often too weak to hold the pencil herself, so instead her mother wrote while Anna told
her story. Following that in 1871, Sewell was confined her home by her disability. Sewell became
increasingly ill during the writing of Black Beauty, and it is only through her mother s transcription
and dictation that the novel was completed. Anna Sewell died of hepatitis on April 25, 1878 just
five months after her publication, living long enough to see the book s initial early

A Humanistic Counselling Approach For Self Knowledge And...
Introduction As a humanistic counselling approach, person centred therapy emphasises the
potential for self knowledge and personal growth (Corey, 2009). It views the deviation from one
s inherent goodness as a source of psychological problems, in turn aiming to increase one s self
awareness to help them direct their life in more satisfying ways (Cooper, 2003). With the person
centred approach being more an attitude than a set of definitive techniques, a better
understanding of its process is formed through connecting theory and practice. As such, this case
study aims to apply the person centred approach to a fictional client based around Lester
Burnham from American Beauty (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). Initially, an introduction to the
client will be presented, followed by the assumptions, assessment, and goals formed when
working with him from a person centred perspective. Several hypothetical helping sessions will
then be presented. The Presenting Problem Lester is a 40 year old man referred to me for
counselling by his doctor. He is currently married and lives with his wife, Carolyn, and their 16
year old daughter Jane. He is employed as a fast food attendant (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). At
the initial examination Lester dresses untidily and unshaven, and avoids eye contact. Lester reports
an overall feeling of unhappiness (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). He stated that he has become
reckless and self destructive and worried about some of his recent life decisions.

Folk Music Research Paper
Folk Rock music is my favorite genre to listen to, such as the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons,
and Judah and the Lion. Folk Rock music is a blend between folk music that is blended with
rock and pop; it was created in the 1960 s when it started out with two different artists, Bob
Dylan the Band, and the Byrd s. The folk revival of the 1960s is often the starting point of
fascination with the style for many contemporary folk fans. One big effect of the 60s folk revival
was that it marked the beginning of folksingers, on a large scale, writing their own material. Since
in folk rock, most are singer/songwriters, instruments that are typically used are electric guitar,
electric bass and drums. Some bands, such as Judah and the Lion, will also add... Show more

Country music is interesting to me since it is a genre where a bunch of different genres
originated from such as folk rock, the similarity of the style to folk rock and bluegrass, and also
that most country artists write and sing their own pieces. Country music was developed right
here in the USA down in the south in the 1920 s, being that was the first ever recording. It is also
one of the firsts of popular modern American music. In the 1930 s and 1940 s before the
television was invented, it was common that American families would sit around a radio to
listen to entertainment, and one of the most popular programs was a live country show called
the Grand Ole Opry . It was based out of Nashville, which we all know as the home of country
music. Back then people would listen to what was called Western music which would have a
bunch of clicks and clacks and sound like a horse like beat and would have singing cowboys. In
the early 1950 s another kind of country music developed and it was known as bluegrass, and the
later in the 1960 s country rock began to appear since the country genre was being beat out by rock
bands (and this is also when my favorite, Folk Rock, became about.) During this time is also when
other genres began to come about such as Folk Rock and Country Pop. Instruments that are
typically used in the country genre are pretty much all string instruments such as the acoustic guitar,
the banjo, the mandolin, and even the

The Environment And Governance Of Modern Cities
The topic of ecological sustainability can be complex or simple, depending on the many factors
that take place. In living systems, being sustainable means to produce more than to waste. By
creating something sustainable, it assures that the resources can be recycled and will be available
for people in the future to meet their needs. In terms of modern cities, the sustainabilitydepends on
how much minerals and energy we bring into the city(water, energy), and how we use them
effectively for our health and community, while keeping the available resources from depleting.
Not only that, the sustainability also depends on the cities form and infrastructure to support an
average citizen s daily needs. With the politics and governance of modern cities, how viable are
plans of creating a sustainable city now? Is it possible? Many nations have already agreed that it
is an important and influential issue, with harsh consequences if not tackled. The situation of a
city and its flaws also depends on if the cities are in the third world, or in a rich nation. A
sustainable city needs to be environmentally worthy, have a suitable infrastructure for all and should
be well run. These characteristics can only be achieved by proper governance and the collective
effort of the citizens. The essay discusses the importance of environmental sustainability and some
of the widely known issues of urban and rural sustainability around the globe and possible solutions
and preventions.

Autonomy is the concept of the patient having control over his or her own body ( Saint Joseph s

and involve the patient in the plan as a partner and not just a patient. Moreover, documenting the

The Music Of Jamaican Music And Music In The Jamaican Culture
Reggae is a large part of Jamaican culture and has expanded to be popular globally. It was made
popular throughout the 1960s mainly by a group from Jamaica called the wailers. They spread the
genre to numerous parts of the world and touring widely and eventually gaining a following. They
had also covered American songs in their genre which helped made it get into the mainstream. One
member of this group Bob Marleyis known as a very important man in this genre and considered to
have brought it into the mainstream entertainment.
Reggae was the end genre from many earlier Jamaican dance music s. These fused together to
make reggae in the end. Some of the earlier genres were Ska and rocksteady it also took a heavy
influence from American genres of jazz and rhythm blues. The main features from these that
made a song reggae are the skank on the offbeat played in the chord and by a guitar usually.
Another feature is typically a bass melody or it can also be played by on organ. Vocals are
another common item in reggae music, Bob Marley was the primary vocalist of his group.
Reggae is typically a slower tempo at around 75, also it is almost always written in 4/4. Reggae
has taken influence from different cultures as its popularity spread around the world for example
in Spain the local reggae style would be slightly different to the regular reggae style from Jamaica.
The style of reggae has held itself through time, from when earlier version originated in Jamaica in

Pros And Cons Of Brushtail Possum

Unlike with the kill trap which one you put the animal s head into the hole of the trap it is dead.
The live capture trap is cheaper for a hectare so we can put more live capture into our native
forests so we can capture more possums and to release animals that we can help reproduce the
native animals that we really need in our forests. Kill traps are more expensive but is very
effective for mitigating the population of possums in the bay and can kill in an instant but some
must be humanely disposed of which is a minus for killing possums in a short time period this can
also affect the environment because if it isn t check regularly it will cause other animals to feed on
the possums carcasses and soon it will rot.
Cyanide
Cyanide is a toxin that will kill when consumed will kill within a ten second time period, this
poison is humane for killing possums but can affect the user of the poison. This poison is not
very reliable because it can also get eaten by non targeted birds they can die in a instant, cyanide is
quite expensive at around $200 to $2000 US dollars. Cyanide does have an antidote but people
think it is controversial, cyanide can also cause comas if it is inhaled it can also cause cardiac

My New Political Ideology Essay
A population s views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day.
The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the
views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my
views and my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political scienceclass has
influenced my political ideology.
When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester
progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered conservative. The town a person grows up in,
financial status, social class, age, gender and the race of the individual have a strong influence on a

Cal trans provides a wonderful freeway system for southern Californians to get as far as Los

Unfortunately I still feel the American people are not ready to vote for the taxes we all pay. The
government is doing a descent job with our taxes; however with changes in the social programs the
American peoples taxes can be considerably lowered.
As a conservative, I still feel that the social class of the individual greatly affects the political
ideology that they have chosen. I have analyzed, that the education of the individual has a great
deal of affect on the political party of their choice. Most liberals are only against conservatives
due to medias bad review of conservatives. The media can affect our lives tremendously if we
believe what they have to say. Education is the key to determining the political party or political
ideology of our choice; therefore education is one of the leading issues many Americans feel
strongly about today. As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our
country. Although there are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the

Introduction
Technology is embedded in almost every aspect of business today. Information technology has now
become a primary driver of market differentiation, business growth, and profitability. This new
Internet led the evolution of the ubiquitous Web 2.0 that is capable of integrating physical and
virtual world entities. Web 2.0 was characterized by specialized, publicly available data sources
(e.g. mapping data, weather information, etc.) accessible via light weight APIs (Application
Programming Interfaces) that can be used to create value added services in the form of Mashups.
The propagation of Web APIs has transformed the Web into a platform for collaborative
development and information sharing. The core of this story on the services transformation is not
about the scale of the services nor is it about the revolution in digital technology. Rather, this story
is about how the application of rule based information technology tools to service activities is
transforming the services component of the economy and mutating the web to become a nimble,
dynamic programming platform.

Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory
Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective
in reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances.
The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is
approximately $30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by
the typical five years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well
as multiplying it by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal
Bureau of Prisons) and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up.
In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries
suggest that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing
drug related crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and
incarcerated another swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists
and public policy analysts researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there
to be little conclusive evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United
States Sentencing Commission).
Another concern mandatory minimums pose is the lack of individualized sentencing. As previously
mentioned when discussing the positive aspects of mandatory minimums some view consistency of
sentencing as a favorable product of mandatory

Tribal Sovereignty Controversy
Tribal sovereignty is a highly debated concept and an important aspect of Native American
society. It refers to a tribe s power to govern itself, manage its membership, and regulate tribal
relations. As Joanna Barker stated, Sovereignty carries the awful stench of colonization. Tribal
sovereignty must be traced to the beginning of colonization in North America. Colonizing nations
asserted sovereignty over indigenous people and took away their independent status. The term
tribal sovereignty carries with it multiples meanings and implications for tribal nations (Cobb,
2005). Amanda Cobb (2005) defines sovereignty as a nation s power to self govern, to determine
its own way of life, and to live that life to whatever extent possible free from interference. If tribal
sovereignty falls under Cobb s definition, Native American tribes in the United States are not
completely sovereign, for some aspects of their lives are still under the control of the federal
government. Tribal councils are still regarded as having tribal sovereignty, but they are limited by
federal funding and authority. Sovereignty is a nation s relative independence from and among
other states (Cobb, 2005). In this case, tribal sovereignty of Native nations depends upon
recognition by the United States. This is ironic; their tribal sovereignty has been granted to them by
the Unites States federal government. No single nation is completely independent of foreign
influence. Tribal nations more so

derived from a conversation amongst one another or communication can lead to an interview (for a

I sat and asked her what her favorite childhood memory was? She lived a life of poverty that just

Her favorite childhood memory was going to school and being asked to sing in front of the

Gathering stories from two different individuals with a big age gap consisted of several issues.
My daughter would pause during her story to try to remember what exactly happened. The voice

Robert Browning s The Ring And The Book
Although the early part of Robert Browning s creative life was spent in comparative obscurity,
he has come to be regarded as one of the most important poets of the Victorian period. His
dramatic monologues and the psycho historical epic The Ring and the Book (1868 1869), a novel
in verse, have established him as a major figure in the history of English poetry. His claim to
attention as a children s writer is more modest, resting as it does almost entirely on one poem,
The Pied Piper of Hamelin, included almost as an afterthought in Bells and Pomegranites. No.
III. Dramatic Lyrics (1842) and evidently never highly regarded by its creator. Nevertheless, The
Pied Piper moved quickly into the canon of children s literature, where it has remained ever
since, receiving the dubious honor (shared by the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen and
J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, 1911) of appearing almost as frequently in adapted versions as in the author
s original. Browning was born on 7 May 1812 in Camberwell, a middle class suburb of London; he
was the only son of Robert Browning, a clerk in the Bank of England, and a devoutly religious
German Scotch mother, Sarah Anna Wiedemann Browning. He had a sister, Sarianna, who like her
parents was devoted to her poet brother. While Mrs. Browning s piety and love of music are
frequently cited as important influences on the poet s development, his father s scholarly interests

Witchcraft and Great Powers
In early modern Europe witchcraft was considered a crime due to people of this time period being
very superstitious. During this time period Witchcraft lead to the invention of such things as
Devils and monsters. The bubonic plague and crimes of Heresy lead to many deaths and therefore
the ideology that developed was it was the work of Witchcraft. It will be established during this
essay the reasons why the use and practice of Witchcraft was deemed to be a crime.
The most favourable belief during early modern Europe was that that women were more
susceptible to becoming Witches then a male would be. The main reason for this being that Eve

Ginzburg states that many Jews acts of violence carried out against them until they handed them
selves in and reported that they were the ones who had started and spread the Bubonic plague. As
a result of this they were seen to confess to spreading this by using their powers to poison the
water and air. Jews were condemned in the same ways as witches and therefore were burnt at the
stake; this was seen to be the most favoured punishment for crimes of witchery.
During this time period of early modern Europe many religious and scholarly men had combined
the effects of the plague with witchcraft. This said to have occurred because witches had used
there powers to poison people through the water and air and they would state that once people are
infected by these spells that they would die within three to four days.
Due to many Jews and women being of lower class in this time period it was also a belief that
because they were unclean they helped spread the plague rapidly. Due to many women of this
time during such jobs and Midwives and developing herb to heal their family this gave way to
women being labeled witches. This view was prevalent throughout Scotland and as a result many
were tried and convicted of witchcraft.Between 1550 to early 1700 s witch hunts I Scotland
developed the theory that witches were nearly always female and that as a result these attacks were
not against the female gender as such. They

What Is The Syntax In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a memoir on his gruesome experiences in his time in Auschwitz. After
the first edition of the book, there was a section which he changed the language and syntax to
possibly make his text more powerful, and to spell check and revise any errors he had because at
the time, he was only 20. The change of the text was much more effective than the old version
because the syntax made the section stand out more and the diction was much better to make the
section overall much more powerful to the readers. The use of syntax was much more effective in
the newer version than the old version because it makes all the words seem independent and makes

In the section, he used just silent sky in the newer version unlike the old version where he used
silent blue sky . The interpretation of blue in this setting makes it feel like a nice beautiful day
in a concentration camp and makes things feel more pleasant and relaxing which does not help
support the fact that this is Auschwitz. Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray
or a black or none at all which he used in the newer version. The use of just silent sky not only
makes it feel darker, but makes it feel abrupt and more powerful so in this case, less is more. The
use of dreams to ash is much more effective than the original dreams to dust . Dust is just
nothing, dust means gone completely and there is no turning back and you re now just waiting
to be gone. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews always just held
on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is still
moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits
because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them.
Diction can definitely change how we think and how we imagine a scene and the newer version
gives a darker and more surreal

History Of Tcm And Traditional Chinese Medicine

HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME
Ancient China has a history of foot therapy; in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the feet have
held symbolical importance for both spiritual and physical well being for many centuries in the
Orient.
Many Civilizations have practiced Reflexology. Evidence of this has been documented on four
continents, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The most common theory is that the earliest
form of reflexology originated in China as much as 5,000 years ago. Part of Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM), Chinese Reflexology is the ancient art of working pressure points on the feet,
hands and ears that correspond to different parts of the body. The Chinese are also known to have
used Reflexology in conjunction with acupuncture. Dr. Wong Wei, a Chinese Doctor in the fourth
century BC evidently used to position acupuncture needles in the patient s bodies and then apply
very firm pressure with his thumbs to the soles of their feet. This pressure was maintained for
several minutes until the desired therapeutic effects were achieved. Dr. Wong Wei maintained that
as the pressure was applied and held healing energy was released into the patient s body.
Reflexology traveled across India, Japan, Asia and China. Many changes took place in Zone

The Discovery Of Apollo 11
Since ancient times, men have gazed upon the cosmic ocean above our heads wondering what
could be out there. In the last 2 centuries human kind has made a huge leap in technology and
science, from horse drawn carriages to spaceships capable to send us into space. What used to be
considered science fiction now is considered science fact. In 1969, Apollo 11 was the first manned
mission to land on the moon, opening the path towards the stars. One problem that we encounter is
distance. The closest starto Earth, beside the Sun, is Alpha CentauriB, being situated at 4.24 light
years away. This means if we were traveling at the speed of light, we would need 4 years to get to
the star, but the fastest man made object is the Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in
1977, reaching the speed of 17 kilometers per second (compared to 300,000 kilometers per second,
the speed of light). This means it will take over 74,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri B. In order
to reach stars in a more effective way, we need to reach higher speeds.
According to Einstein s theory of relativity nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. This
is because the mass of an object that is moving with the speed of light is becoming infinite,
requiring infinite energy to propel it, which is obviously impossible. Even at 80% of the speed of
light, mass is becoming a big problem.
One day, in Earth s distant future, there will be a Last day of the Earth scenario. Eventually, the sun
will become a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Static-Culture Method
2.5.1.1. Advantages and disadvantages of the static culture method Although static culture appears
attractive due to its simplicity, it is not a feasible option for large scale production due to the high
cost of labour involved (Schrecker and Gostomski, 2005) Additionally, it is not a very good tool for
investigative studies on BC production in a laboratory environment. This is because the static
cultures have to be left undisturbed during pellicle formation. And even after the pellicle has
formed, it is a challenge to even measure the pH of the medium let alone control the same. Thus,
controlling important growth parameters such as pH and substrate concentration is challenging in
this method. It has been postulated by (Borzani and Desouza, 1995) that the BC pellicle increases
in thickness due to the active cells on the upper most level. Thus after a point, the cells lack access
to medium due to the decreasing substrate flux through the increasing thickness of the pellicle
under formation. 2.5.2. The agitated bacterial culture method (agitated bioreactor(... Show more

This method was first reported by (Schramm and Hestrin, 1954). They produced BC in shake

sized spherical balls or flocs. It s potential to be scaled up inspired further research. The rate of BC

As a feminist reader, I first saw Grace as a feminist woman: she stood up to her father by getting a
job and staying with the job even though that meant leaving her family, and she worked all
through her teen years, making her a woman in the workplace . She even worked when men
didn t, as the book mentioned a boy her age Jamie didn t have as much responsibility as she did.
However, Atwood created a conflict within Grace on the subject of sexuality by having Grace
extremely anti sexuality for woman. Countless times throughout the book she looked down on
female sex workers and woman who had affairs and even rejected the advcances of men because
she did not believe it was valid for a woman to want sexual liberation. Especially on the subject of
sex wokrers, she judged men for going to them with the equivilant of a slap on the wrist where
as if she had her way, she d kick every prostiutute by the booty out of her town. Whenever she
saw or thought of them, she d call them whores and discuss how she d rather kill herself than
indulge in sex for money. I saw this as conflicting, because prostitutes are stiill women in the
workplace and they support themselves rather than having men support them, and Grace does
the same thing, just by housekeeping, not sex. Still, I d assume Grace would support fellow
woman, but she outright attacks them. Atwood uses a murder mystery and a facet of the
murder was it affair driven to touch on how feminism varies and there ;s a difference between
men and woman in terms of sex that even strong omwan like Grace refuse to rectify. Atwood
uses details of Grace s story to make a social crituque on how men and woman differ in terms of
sexual liberation, and how it s still not see as equal for men to be whores and women to be
whores. Even today, girls get called sluts for having sex whereas men get high fives, especially

The Membrane Of The Cone Cells
Several researchers like (Burakova and Mazokhin Porshnyakov, 1982; Mishra and Meyer Rochow,
2008a) confirmed that the vesicles originate from inflation of the interretinular strands and are
simply extensions of the cone cells. Shaw (1978) considered the presence of vesicles around the
rhabdomere to be a typical feature of dark/lightadaption. The location of the interretinular spaces
suggests two possible functions. The first is to make physical contact with the rhabdomeres
because both of them disappear in the nuclear region. The second, physiological function by

of stray light to entire the eyes.
4.3.2 Distal retinula cells
The rhabdom is long and wide at the distal start and becomes very narrow at the most proximal end.
(Horridge and Barnard, 1965; Land, 1981; Stavenga, 2003) reported that the long rhabdom allows
the receptor to collect more light and increasing the sensitivity, this feature is common in nocturnal

evidence that this eye has an anatomical design optimized for vision in dim light.

non blacks marrying blacks because it is becoming more common, I am in a biracial
relationship, and I long for your approval. Interracial relationships/marriages have increased
substantially in America over the past few years. While black families tend to be more
accepting of the interracial relationships and white partner, white families are more reluctant to
accept the mix of white and black races. In 2010, there were a total of 390,000 couples that
consisted of a black husband and white wife. One large reason why people tend to not agree
with interracial relationships is because of the mental abuse and bullying towards biracial
children. However, the majority of people who ever speak their opinions on mixed children are
ones from the older generation. This is alarming to me due to my future children being biracial. I
am a white woman in a long term relationship with a black male. His name is Davion Maxwell.

Thomas Jefferson Book Report
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States with a very interesting life. This
book starts with the death of Jefferson and then goes into detail with his desires and
accomplishments of Jefferson. The author of this book is Andrew Burstein a great admirer of
Jefferson. He is a professor at the University of Tulsa and writer of many other scholarly articles
about Thomas Jefferson. The original version of this book was published in 2001. Jefferson was a
very mysterious person starting with his desire of being buried in Monticello to the relationships
with his slaves. It is especially very interesting his case with Sally Hemings since it has been
proven to of been intimate.

It does not go in chronological order nor does it way its work up from Jefferson s death. This
book is almost reversed chronological order because it does start with Jefferson laying in his
deathbed. But the book jumps from subject to subject. History books are not my favorite but this
one in speciality I did not like for several reasons. The main reason is the order of this book.
Chronological order is the way I would prefered to of read it. The vocabulary was higher level
and it is understandable because it is a nonfiction history adult book but it was very time
consuming looking up all these words I ve never seen before. Most of the book focuses on
letters that Jefferson wrote during his lifetime but the author could have focused less on this
subject and more on the actual life of Jefferson. The order of this book was not the best but it
was a very interesting topic. This book went in detail of what Jefferson left behind after his death
like his letters and quotes. Another thing, the author of this book showed very much his strong
biased opinion about Jefferson on several parts of the book. Burstein tries his best to justify some
of Jefferson s errors which changes some facts to the opinions of the author. I did enjoy the chapter
where he talk about the University of Virginia and the chapter that focuses on Sally Hemings and
his offspring with

What Is A Good Character Essay
What is character? Character is something that is hard to explain. It is who we are, the way we
act, and the kind of person we truly are and want to be. Character is what you are in the dark. But
if character is the kind of person you are when no one is looking, then why does it matter?
Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always
watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it
is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our
character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin
Franklin, as role models for good character. Showing gratitude towards others is a great way to
express good character. Being thankful and showing appreciation for those in our lives helps us
strengthen our character and show others the good in ourselves. Being grateful is also a way of
being humble and allowing others to see that we don t think we are better than them. Gratitude
can sometimes be hard to find, but there are many ways to show how grateful we are. Thank you
cards, gift baskets, personal thank you s, gifts, and small acts of kindness are great ways to show
the people in our lives that we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In society today it is common for someone to be respectful to their elders or told to do so, but
when we are respectful to our peers and those younger or below us it shows great character.
People want to be respected and seen as grown up, and the best way to do that is to be respectful
to others. The best way to earn respect is to give respect. People always say that we reap what
we sow and respect is a great example of this. When we are respectful to other they will, in turn, be
respectful to us. Someone with strong character is respectful and grateful to others. Benjamin
Franklin is a great example of a person with strong

Essay On Swartdogs Competition
The FIRST Iowa Regional Robotics Competition was held in the UNI Dome and McLeod Center
just a few weeks ago, from March 23 through March 25. FIRST is all about combining science,
technology and fun. High school students work in teams to design robots and complete
complicated tasks under strict regulations in just six weeks. The competition offers a taste of real
world engineering as students are challenged to build a team and brand, enhance teamwork skills,
raise funds, build and program a robot, form strategic alliances and compete against tough
competition.
On the last day of the competition, Saturday March 25, events started at 8:00 a.m. After a brief
opening ceremony with the guest speaker, UNI President Mark Nook, the qualifying matches ...

The quarterfinal match ended in a tie and forced a tiebreaker. The second match also ended in a
tie and was decided by a mere five penalty points. Though the Swartdogs didn t win the regional
title this year, they are an incredibly successful team. In their 18 year history they have been
regional winners 12 times and received numerous team awards. This year, the Swartdogs won the
Creativity Award sponsored by Xerox, won their second Volunteer of the Year award and their fifth
Woodie Flowers Award for outstanding team mentors.
The last semifinal match was truly a show stopper. The two alliances were so determined to make
it into the final match that they tied their semifinal match six times! When a tie takes place there
are certain point categories with more weight to decide the winner. However, the alliances were
fighting so hard that their scores were identical six times in a row. This semifinal wowed the judges
and the fans, and was an emotional rollercoaster right before the final match.
When the tiebreakers were settled, the final two alliances faced off for the regional title. After the
crazy semifinal battle, the atmosphere was intense. In the end the Blue Alliance emerged victorious
and teams 2410 from Overland Park, Kansas, 5690 from Esko, Minnesota, and 4506 from Saint
Paul, Minnesota were declared the

Analysis Of The Movie The Play By Bill Yoast s Young...
Plot Summary In April of 1971, the United States Supreme Court issued a ruling that ended all
state imposed segregation in public schools. In the beginning of the movie the narrator, later to be
known as Coach Bill Yoast s young daughter Sheryl, discusses the transition from segregated
schools to mixed races at T. C. Williams High School located in Alexandria, Virginia. The movie
expands on many different smaller issues that are centered on the main issue of hatred of race, The
african American race to be more specific. When Coach Herman Booneis first introduced he was
reluctant to take this new job as head coach in Virginia even with being well qualified because
he was previously passed up for the same coach position in South Carolina, but the job was given
to an under qualified white man who could barely tie his own shoe. Boone reluctantly takes the
job after realizing he is an idol for the black people in his neighborhood. With the issues of
desegregation flying around he must overcome the racism as well as winning over his new team
and leading them to victory. Remember the Titans has many very important main characters yet the
four I would like to go in grave detail about are the Head Coach Herman Boone, Assistant Coach
Bill Yoast, Titans team captain Gary Bertier (and unofficial rallier of the white football players),
and Julius Campbell (the unofficial leader of the black athletes.) Coach Boone at the beginning of
the movie was always courteous when people

Charles Manson s Influence On Society
In almost all lists of famous serial killers, probably the most mentioned among them all is Charles
Manson. With more than 35 documented killings and a cult of disciple murderers, Manson has
become the living embodiment that the devil walks on earth. But what has made this troubled
youth into one of America s feared monsters?
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934. Named Charles Milles Maddox, he was born
and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a teenage mom, Kathleen Maddox. His alcoholic and prostitute
mother soon married William Manson but the marriage was short lived. His mother did not want
anything to do with the boy and this pushed him to live on the streets and fend for himself. Pretty
soon, Charles turned to petty crime to survive. By the time he was in his late teens, Charles was
introduced to a life in prison.
Charles met a girl in 1955 whom he married and brought with him to California. There, she
became pregnant and Charles was back into his life of petty crimes leading him to another time in
prison in 1956. The young wife eventually left him after a year. After being released, Charles
turned to other crimes such as pimping, using stolen checks and conning a woman of her money.
While on probation, he met a prostitute Candy Stevens, who bore him a second child. By 1960, he
was arrested for his crimes and was sent to a Washington penitentiary.
In prison, troubles never escaped Charles. He once raped a fellow male inmate and he was
considered to be safe only when

Karl Marx Punishment
Punishment in the U.S In society, we punish those that deviate from our social norms. These norms
are usually things that society defines by things they feel are morally wrong. In this paper, we will
examine sex offenders that have the urge to commit a sexual crime against others and how they
must suffer the consequences that the law as intact for those crimes. Sex offenders in the United
States are punished harshly because we try to protect our citizens and try to isolate certain problems
to avoid more deviant behavior. Therefore, we isolate these individuals from society. Sex offenders
have a hard time re entering society, which cause them to sometimes led them to creating their own
community that excludes them for society. In the United... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Foucault, modern society has moved to a more private punishment method.
However, I think the current U.S approach to dealing with sex offenders is trying to punish them
privately, but also make them a public display for society. In Pervert Park, the documentary
show how individuals that are now label and registry as sex offenders have to live in a
community that is just confined to them. Sex offenders are being punished by having to live
under a certain system. For instance, the maintenance man that is a sex offender and even though
he as re enter society as a productive member under the law he is still deviant, which means he
must document all his locations. Therefore, they community is set up like a panopticon because it
s like their community is surrounded by a bunch of guards who are either the citizens around them
and the law. Sex offenders are under twenty four hour surveillance it s like they are still in jail.
However, I must agree with Foucault that since the law is so power the community controls them
because it s the only place they feel

Food Trucks Case Summary
1. How do food trucks affect local production possibilities curves for the restaurant meal industry?
Explain your answer and provide a correctly drawn and labelled production possibilities diagram to
illustrate your explanation.
The food trucks affected the local production curves for the restaurant meal industry by drawing
more customers to their food truck meal industry. The more customers the food truck meal industry
have, the lesser the restaurant s customers would have. Therefore, the restaurant s customers would
decrease as the food truck s customers increases and the business will eventually fail. For example,
if initially, the restaurant meal industry doesn t have a competition with the food truck meal
industry, they have 200 customers a day and 0 customers for the opponent. And when Bobby started
his food truck business, he drew 120 new customers to his new food truck that attracted 50 of the
customers from the restaurant. Another food truck joined, and the customers increased to 170. The
more food trucks and the faster they evolve, the more customers would be attracted, consequently, 0
customers left for the restaurant meal industry the business fails.
2. How has the proliferation of food trucks affected the supply of prepared meals and prices in
local markets? Explain your answer and provide a correctly drawn and labelled demand and supply
diagram to illustrate your explanation.

The Importance Of Dreams
Dreams have been a mystery of the human mind since the beginning of time. Their purpose and
importance to our lives varies depending on where you go for information, but it is clear that
dreams are something that come along with being human. According to the theory of Sigmund
Freud, dreams are a way for our mind to process the things we are feeling in the form of symbolism
(Freud 350). While many brush off their dreams as simply a way for their brain to relieve stress
and process the previous day, there is a large percentage of people who believe that their dreams are
a message, or a warning, from the beyond.
In Medieval times, one of the most common beliefs about dreams was that they were used as the
primary way in which higher powers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miracles and dream visions are often paired together in the Christian faith, specifically inside of the
Catholic denomination. According to the information that I found, they call these visions private
revelations. Even though they accept the idea that a Christian can be exposed to a vision, they are
quick to distinguish the difference between private revelation and magic. This is confirmed in a
direct quote from the Global Catholic Network, which says Alleged revelations which propose to
improve upon, correct or entirely supplant Public Revelation are rejected by the Church as
inauthentic, regardless of the claims made for them. Such revelations include those of Mohammed
in the Koran, Joseph Smith in the Book of Mormon, the writings of new age mystics, psychics and
the like (Donovan, Apparitions/Private Revelations).
Another well known dream vision is Caedmon s Hymn, which was written by Bede. Caedmon s
Hymn is about a vision from God that changes a man s entire life around. Caedmon is not much
help in his church community, because he cannot sing praises. Caedmon is so distraught by this
on one occasion that he runs away to the stables and falls asleep. During his slumber, Caedmon
dreams that God asks him to sing. Caedmon sings the most beautiful and poetic song about
creation, and remembers every line when he awakes. He promptly goes and tells everyone he
knows, and becomes revered by the church

I Am A Teacher s Degree Program
Since I was a little girl, I have expressed a great interest in and love for reading. I know my love for
reading is one of the reasons I became a teacher. I was excited to pursue a career where I could
share my love of reading and books with my students. As I began student teaching, however, I
realized not all children have had the same experiences as I have had with reading. Although I am
not sure I wantto be a literacy specialist, I chose the literacy Master s Degree program because I
wanted to help all children, especially struggling readers, develop a love for reading and
become successful readers and writers. If I had not seen children struggle with reading, I am not
sure if I would have ever chosen literacy for my Master s program. I know each child I meet
comes with different experiences and needs. Prior to the classes I took in this program,
however, I did not consider how those experiences would impact a child s attitude towards
reading and the meaning they made from what they read. Learning about Rosenblatt s
transactional theory helped me to realize the print children engage with has meaning and a
message. The message is then determined by the what the reader brings with them. As a
classroom teacher, and possibly a future literacy specialist, this was important for me to learn
because I realized I needed to first really know who my students are as individuals before I could
assess and help them as a reader. As I have been teaching, I have realized it can be

(Oakland, 2003) Quality is also specified in the internal process. This process needs to be measure and comparable to the acceptable ranges in production to develop a product that fulfil the specifications and it also requires the participation from everyone in the organization . (Maguad, 2006) 4. What are the underlying causes of the problems at Executive Holloware? There are some problems presented in the EH case of study. First, the products developed by the company are high value tea sets items, thus the necessity to maintain a standard performance to produce a product without any defect. One cause of the problem is that there is no specific definition of defect in the entire process. It is mentioned that the senior shop foreman does not have a clear understanding of defect definition and this affect the correct performance of the entire process because it represent in re working cost. Other cause of problem is that each department does not maintain a close communication about the relevance of the quality in the process. Paul realized that each department blame each other regarding to the scratches and bruises of the product. Even the finance director did not has a clear vision of the situation, therefore the lack of communication and process internal control In the Organization, there were no specification clearly defined of quality and the metrics of quality acceptance during the process, such as the clear definition of scratch and ... • 3. Food Protein Derived Bioactive Peptides ( Bps ) Abstract Food protein derived bioactive peptides (BPs) have been reported to trigger certain physiological responses in the body, thereby influencing health positively. These peptides have attracted high research and consumer interests due to their huge potential of use in functional foods and other dietary interventions of disease control and health promotion. However, successful product development is limited by the fact that current manufacturing processes are either difficult to scale up, high in cost, or have the potential to affect the structure activity properties of these peptides. To overcome these challenges, we have proposed in this review, the use of omic techniques and high throughput simulation models to forecast the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction Over the years, it has become a known fact that health and nutrition are intricately linked. Not only do food nutrients supply the necessary biomolecules for various metabolic activities, but, in some cases, food nutrients are able to trigger certain desirable physiological responses in the body. Food proteins and hydrolysates thereof are amongst the most well studied bioactive molecules (Danquah and Agyei, 2012). Bioactive peptides have been defined as protein hydrolysates which, upon entry and absorption into the body, have the ability to induce certain desirable and physiologically measurable hormone like activities(Korhonen and Pihlanto, 2006). Some biological functions induced by these peptides include immunomodulatory, cytomodulatory, opiate, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, antithrombotic and metal chelation activities (MГ¶ller et al. , 2008). As natural products of food origin, bioactive peptides have a huge potential in health promoting functional foods and therapeutic products(Korhonen, 2009).However, this potential is not being realised as a result of certain bioprocess challenges. The lack of commercially viable processes for large scale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Narrative Of The New Zealand The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and Vladislav as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in Wellington, these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things such as paying rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be extremely difficult. What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and cinematography, while also using a mixture of two genres, vampireand mockumentary, to comment on contemporary social formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of the filmhave been used to ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We Do in the Shadows uses aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic vampire has faced over the years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the cinematic vampire has changed drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1), which has resulted in the creation of the modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do in the Shadows. Throughout film history three distinct periods of vampire narrative can be observed. Initially, the first cinematic vampires were formally dressed and presented as the leading villains in films, the second type showed more human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On December 23rd, Radian Group discontinued the operation of one of their subsidiaries, Radian Asset Assurance, and began the process of selling it. The sale of Radian Asset Assurance was a strategic sale to allow Radian Group to be able to comply with new capital requirements expected to be imposed during 2015. The insurance industry, as a whole, has seen an increase in M A transactions since 2013. Property and Casualty firms have not seen the same levels of activity, partly due to hesitant buyers concerned with the smaller than expected rate increases among insurers. Changes in Capital Structure Radian Group issued new shares of common stock in 2013 and 2014. This issuance increased their shares outstanding by 57,407 to 191,054 at the end of 2014. • 6. Theme Of Exposure And The Grauballe Man Rafeed Siddiquey English Lang/Lit HL Y2 Michael Love 29th September 2015 6. Exposure The Grauballe Man Comparison Piece: At the heart of the conflicts lay the constitutional status of Northern Ireland. The goal of the unionist and overwhelmingly Protestant majority was to remain part of the United Kingdom. The goal of the nationalist and republican, almost exclusively Catholic minority, was to become part of the Republic of Ireland. Seamus Heaney s presence during the conflicts induced him to ponder upon and write about the brutal and barbaric consequences in Northern Ireland. The poems in North explore a number of intriguing and mysterious themes such as the national and cultural past of his homeland, life, death, sex, gender, and land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The persona, by extension Heaney, likens himself to a comet. Not any comet, but a comet that [is] lost. Though the comet is part of a wide universe, it is alone. This echoes Heaney s concerns. He feels as though he is part of the wider community of Ireland, yet he feels psychologically separated from all. He feels his voice cannot be heard, amongst the masses, that it is covered by those million tons of light. A hyperbole is used here to depict the insignificance of the comet in universe, and therefore Heaney in society. He feels worthless. Instead, Heaney wishes for a meteorite. There is a change in tone from the second stanza to the third. The comet visible at sunset is expected, it should appear. Yet, the falling star only sometimes appears. The former is expected, whilst the latter is unpredictable. Heaney himself admires the meteorite, the falling star. This is shown through the use of the exclamation mark. Unlike the comet which typically follows a cycle, a meteorite is free, it does not need to abide to a marked trail. Rather, it is able to float and fall whenever and wherever it wishes. This is metaphoric for Heaney; he wants to be able to express himself freely. Yet, the political circumstances in Northern Ireland do not allow for such, it forces him to choose sides, to be the voice for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the interview, she had a lot of great things to say. One of the topics she talked about was having to grow up with her parents in Togo. She stated that both her parent s jobs had to do with business and her father was a factor in her decision to become a nurse. Since her father was the city s director of the Red Cross organization, he partially cajoled her into becoming a nurse. • 8. Perfect Marriage In Kate Hemingway s Hills Like White... Looking from the Inside Anne and Ted have been married for 25 years, dated for 10 and have 3 kids together. On the outside it looks like have the picture perfect marriage. One day he packed up his things and left their home and relationship of over 30 years with no explanation whatsoever. Couples will think the world of their spouse and build their lives around them only to be disregarded when it suits them. Spouses are left wondering what had happened that made their partners walked out on them after all they have been through and the sacrifices both may have made. This is the time they realized they do not know their partners as they thought they did and all the sacrifices made was not enough to keep them. This is exhibited in the story The Storm by Kate Chopin where a couple seems to have a perfect marriage, but the wife then she cheats on her husband with her ex lover. Then they returned to their normal lives not telling neither of their partner about the adultery they committed. In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants a couple is having a heated argument about the woman going for an abortion and how that would ease the tension in their relationship that the pregnancy had brought. Calixta s cheating in The Storm sheds light on Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants helping me understand people s willingness to take risks to sustain relationships, how difficult humans are to please and how unknowingly people live in lies. The first established death penalty laws date as far back as the Eighteenth Century B.C. but didn t make an appearance in the United States until 1608 (Part 1, n.d.). Death penalty is seen as a form of accountability for someone s action. Most easily understood when you take a life, you lose your life an eye for an eye. Nonetheless, over time people have started humanizing the situation and creating controversy. The Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments were interpreted as permitting the death penalty, until the early 1960s, when it was suggested that the death penalty was a cruel and unusual punishment, and therefore arguing it as unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment (Part... • 12. The Experimenter Must Conduct Electrolysis Essay The purpose of this experiment is to confirm Avogadro s number. To do this the experimenter must conduct electrolysis. Electrolysis, as given to us in the experiment instructions, is where an external power supply is used to drive an otherwise nonspontaneous reaction. A zinc strip and a copper strip will be used as electrodes. Electrodes are devices that move electrons into or out of a solution by conduction ( Definition ). The electrodes will be placed into a beaker of sulfuric acid. By using the copper strip as the anode and the zincstrip as the cathode, the experimenter will make the cell electrolytic in order to oxidize a copper electrode. The anode of a device is the terminal where current flows in from outside and the cathode of a device is the terminal where current flows out (Denker). By measuring the amount of copper that was deposited in the electroplating process, the experimenter will be able to determine the average current in the reaction and determine the amount of atoms in one mole of copper. The experimenter will then compare this number to Avogadro s number, determining how accurate Avogadro s number is. In this experiment, the experimenter will be using a LabQuest, a Vernier Current Probe, a 1.5 volt DC power source, 2 connecting wires with alligator clips, an ohm resistor, a copper strip, and a zinc strip to set up the experiment. The experimenter will also need the following: sand paper to clean a strip of copper, an analytical balance to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was born in Norfolk, England on March 30, 1820. Her father was Isaac Sewell (1793 1879), and her mother, Mary Wright Sewell (1798 1884) was a successful writer of children s books in her own right. • 14. A Humanistic Counselling Approach For Self Knowledge And... Introduction As a humanistic counselling approach, person centred therapy emphasises the potential for self knowledge and personal growth (Corey, 2009). It views the deviation from one s inherent goodness as a source of psychological problems, in turn aiming to increase one s self awareness to help them direct their life in more satisfying ways (Cooper, 2003). With the person centred approach being more an attitude than a set of definitive techniques, a better understanding of its process is formed through connecting theory and practice. As such, this case study aims to apply the person centred approach to a fictional client based around Lester Burnham from American Beauty (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). Initially, an introduction to the client will be presented, followed by the assumptions, assessment, and goals formed when working with him from a person centred perspective. Several hypothetical helping sessions will then be presented. The Presenting Problem Lester is a 40 year old man referred to me for counselling by his doctor. He is currently married and lives with his wife, Carolyn, and their 16 year old daughter Jane. He is employed as a fast food attendant (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). At the initial examination Lester dresses untidily and unshaven, and avoids eye contact. Lester reports an overall feeling of unhappiness (Cohen, Jinks Mendes, 1999). He stated that he has become reckless and self destructive and worried about some of his recent life decisions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Folk Rock music is a blend between folk music that is blended with rock and pop; it was created in the 1960 s when it started out with two different artists, Bob Dylan the Band, and the Byrd s. The folk revival of the 1960s is often the starting point of fascination with the style for many contemporary folk fans. One big effect of the 60s folk revival was that it marked the beginning of folksingers, on a large scale, writing their own material. Since in folk rock, most are singer/songwriters, instruments that are typically used are electric guitar, electric bass and drums. Some bands, such as Judah and the Lion, will also add... In the 1930 s and 1940 s before the television was invented, it was common that American families would sit around a radio to listen to entertainment, and one of the most popular programs was a live country show called the Grand Ole Opry . It was based out of Nashville, which we all know as the home of country music. Back then people would listen to what was called Western music which would have a bunch of clicks and clacks and sound like a horse like beat and would have singing cowboys. In the early 1950 s another kind of country music developed and it was known as bluegrass, and the later in the 1960 s country rock began to appear since the country genre was being beat out by rock bands (and this is also when my favorite, Folk Rock, became about.) • 16. The Environment And Governance Of Modern Cities The topic of ecological sustainability can be complex or simple, depending on the many factors that take place. In living systems, being sustainable means to produce more than to waste. By creating something sustainable, it assures that the resources can be recycled and will be available for people in the future to meet their needs. In terms of modern cities, the sustainabilitydepends on how much minerals and energy we bring into the city(water, energy), and how we use them effectively for our health and community, while keeping the available resources from depleting. Not only that, the sustainability also depends on the cities form and infrastructure to support an average citizen s daily needs. With the politics and governance of modern cities, how viable are plans of creating a sustainable city now? Is it possible? Many nations have already agreed that it is an important and influential issue, with harsh consequences if not tackled. The situation of a city and its flaws also depends on if the cities are in the third world, or in a rich nation. A sustainable city needs to be environmentally worthy, have a suitable infrastructure for all and should be well run. These characteristics can only be achieved by proper governance and the collective effort of the citizens. The essay discusses the importance of environmental sustainability and some of the widely known issues of urban and rural sustainability around the globe and possible solutions and preventions. Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective in reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances. The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is approximately $30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by the typical five years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well as multiplying it by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal Bureau of Prisons) and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up. In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries suggest that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing drug related crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and incarcerated another swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists and public policy analysts researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there to be little conclusive evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United States Sentencing Commission). Another concern mandatory minimums pose is the lack of individualized sentencing. It refers to a tribe s power to govern itself, manage its membership, and regulate tribal relations. As Joanna Barker stated, Sovereignty carries the awful stench of colonization. Tribal sovereignty must be traced to the beginning of colonization in North America. Colonizing nations asserted sovereignty over indigenous people and took away their independent status. The term tribal sovereignty carries with it multiples meanings and implications for tribal nations (Cobb, 2005). Amanda Cobb (2005) defines sovereignty as a nation s power to self govern, to determine its own way of life, and to live that life to whatever extent possible free from interference. If tribal sovereignty falls under Cobb s definition, Native American tribes in the United States are not completely sovereign, for some aspects of their lives are still under the control of the federal government. Tribal councils are still regarded as having tribal sovereignty, but they are limited by federal funding and authority. Sovereignty is a nation s relative independence from and among other states (Cobb, 2005). In this case, tribal sovereignty of Native nations depends upon recognition by the United States. This is ironic; their tribal sovereignty has been granted to them by the Unites States federal government. No single nation is completely independent of foreign influence. Tribal nations more so ... Robert Browning s The Ring And The Book Although the early part of Robert Browning s creative life was spent in comparative obscurity, he has come to be regarded as one of the most important poets of the Victorian period. His dramatic monologues and the psycho historical epic The Ring and the Book (1868 1869), a novel in verse, have established him as a major figure in the history of English poetry. His claim to attention as a children s writer is more modest, resting as it does almost entirely on one poem, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, included almost as an afterthought in Bells and Pomegranites. Jews were condemned in the same ways as witches and therefore were burnt at the stake; this was seen to be the most favoured punishment for crimes of witchery. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews always just held on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is still moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them. Diction can definitely change how we think and how we imagine a scene and the newer version gives a darker and more surreal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When in Mexico Americans should refrain from calling themselves Americans. Mexicans consider themselves Americans too since the whole continent is called America. Another part of Mexican culture that may be shocking to American s traveling there is the way machismo is verbalized by male members of Mexican society. History Of Tcm And Traditional Chinese Medicine HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME Jacqueline Anne Clinkard CCATCCM TCM Reflexology HISTORY OF TCM REFLEXOLOGY THROUGHOUT TIME Ancient China has a history of foot therapy; in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the feet have held symbolical importance for both spiritual and physical well being for many centuries in the Orient. Many Civilizations have practiced Reflexology. Evidence of this has been documented on four continents, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The most common theory is that the earliest form of reflexology originated in China as much as 5,000 years ago. Part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese Reflexology is the ancient art of working pressure points on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to different parts of the body. The Chinese are also known to have used Reflexology in conjunction with acupuncture. Dr. Wong Wei, a Chinese Doctor in the fourth century BC evidently used to position acupuncture needles in the patient s bodies and then apply very firm pressure with his thumbs to the soles of their feet. This pressure was maintained for several minutes until the desired therapeutic effects were achieved. Dr. Wong Wei maintained that as the pressure was applied and held healing energy was released into the patient s body. Reflexology traveled across India, Japan, Asia and China. • 36. The Discovery Of Apollo 11 Since ancient times, men have gazed upon the cosmic ocean above our heads wondering what could be out there. In the last 2 centuries human kind has made a huge leap in technology and science, from horse drawn carriages to spaceships capable to send us into space. What used to be considered science fiction now is considered science fact. In 1969, Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the moon, opening the path towards the stars. One problem that we encounter is distance. The closest starto Earth, beside the Sun, is Alpha CentauriB, being situated at 4.24 light years away. This means if we were traveling at the speed of light, we would need 4 years to get to the star, but the fastest man made object is the Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in 1977, reaching the speed of 17 kilometers per second (compared to 300,000 kilometers per second, the speed of light). This means it will take over 74,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri B. In order to reach stars in a more effective way, we need to reach higher speeds. According to Einstein s theory of relativity nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. This is because the mass of an object that is moving with the speed of light is becoming infinite, requiring infinite energy to propel it, which is obviously impossible. Even at 80% of the speed of light, mass is becoming a big problem. One day, in Earth s distant future, there will be a Last day of the Earth scenario. Eventually, the sun will become a ... Advantages and disadvantages of the static culture method Although static culture appears attractive due to its simplicity, it is not a feasible option for large scale production due to the high cost of labour involved (Schrecker and Gostomski, 2005) Additionally, it is not a very good tool for investigative studies on BC production in a laboratory environment. This is because the static cultures have to be left undisturbed during pellicle formation. And even after the pellicle has formed, it is a challenge to even measure the pH of the medium let alone control the same. Thus, controlling important growth parameters such as pH and substrate concentration is challenging in this method. It has been postulated by (Borzani and Desouza, 1995) that the BC pellicle increases in thickness due to the active cells on the upper most level. Thus after a point, the cells lack access to medium due to the decreasing substrate flux through the increasing thickness of the pellicle under formation. 2.5.2. The rate of BC production in such agitated cultures was two fold higher than the traditional static culture method (Setyawati et al., 2007). Instead, she pleaded innocenece and was convicated to a life in a penitentiary, but after over a decade in prison, a psychologist comes to try and solve the m,ysetery: did Grace Kill them, did she not kill them, was she acting in free will or under insdanity, were the murders promted by an affairthe public wanted answers to the questions they still asked. She even worked when men didn t, as the book mentioned a boy her age Jamie didn t have as much responsibility as she did. However, Atwood created a conflict within Grace on the subject of sexuality by having Grace extremely anti sexuality for woman. Countless times throughout the book she looked down on female sex workers and woman who had affairs and even rejected the advcances of men because she did not believe it was valid for a woman to want sexual liberation. Especially on the subject of sex wokrers, she judged men for going to them with the equivilant of a slap on the wrist where as if she had her way, she d kick every prostiutute by the booty out of her town. Whenever she saw or thought of them, she d call them whores and discuss how she d rather kill herself than indulge in sex for money. I saw this as conflicting, because prostitutes are stiill women in the workplace and they support themselves rather than having men support them, and Grace does the same thing, just by housekeeping, not sex. Still, I d assume Grace would support fellow woman, but she outright attacks them. Atwood uses a murder mystery and a facet of the murder was it affair driven to touch on how feminism varies and there ;s a difference between men and woman in terms of sex that even strong omwan like Grace refuse to rectify. The Membrane Of The Cone Cells Several researchers like (Burakova and Mazokhin Porshnyakov, 1982; Mishra and Meyer Rochow, 2008a) confirmed that the vesicles originate from inflation of the interretinular strands and are simply extensions of the cone cells. Shaw (1978) considered the presence of vesicles around the rhabdomere to be a typical feature of dark/lightadaption. The location of the interretinular spaces suggests two possible functions. The first is to make physical contact with the rhabdomeres because both of them disappear in the nuclear region. Character is what you are in the dark. But if character is the kind of person you are when no one is looking, then why does it matter? Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin Franklin, as role models for good character. Showing gratitude towards others is a great way to express good character. Being thankful and showing appreciation for those in our lives helps us strengthen our character and show others the good in ourselves. Being grateful is also a way of being humble and allowing others to see that we don t think we are better than them.
