Essay On Respect In The Military
Writing an essay on the theme of respect within the military can be a challenging yet rewarding
task. The complexity arises from the need to delve into the multifaceted aspects of respect within
a highly structured and disciplined environment. One must not only understand the general
principles of respect but also consider how they manifest within the unique culture of the
military.
Firstly, grasping the intricacies of military life, hierarchy, and the code of conduct is essential.
This involves delving into the historical context, organizational structure, and the values that
underpin military ethos. Balancing a respect for authority with the acknowledgment of
individual rights and responsibilities is a delicate task.
Moreover, addressing the diverse perspectives on respect within the military community adds
another layer of complexity. Respect might vary between different ranks, branches, and even
among individuals with different roles and responsibilities. Considering these nuances requires a
nuanced understanding of military culture.
The challenge further deepens when exploring the consequences of disrespect within the military.
Discussing instances of insubordination or the erosion of unit cohesion due to a lack of respect
demands careful analysis and a balanced perspective.
Crafting a cohesive and compelling essay on this topic also involves drawing upon real-life
examples, historical events, and perhaps even personal anecdotes. Incorporating relevant
research and scholarly perspectives adds depth to the discussion.
Despite these challenges, writing on such a topic provides an opportunity for personal growth
and a deeper appreciation for the importance of respect within a military context. By navigating
the complexities and presenting a well-reasoned argument, one can contribute to a broader
understanding of the role of respect in maintaining order and effectiveness within the armed
forces.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on respect in the military may present difficulties due
to the need for a comprehensive understanding of military culture, hierarchy, and consequences
of disrespect, it is a valuable exercise in exploring the nuances of this essential concept within a
unique context.

however, I will also provide some specific real cases as examples of strategic
alliance. What compelling reasons might influence a firm s adoption of strategic
alliances when expanding internationally? What are possible pitfalls and how might
they be avoided? Discuss with reference to appropriate With the fast politic and
economic development, and the rapid development in the high technology and
information industry, economic globalization has made the global competition more

Hamlet s View On Life
Live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive. We always hear this quote, but
what is the true value of life? How do we know when we have lived life to the
fullest? These are questions that are asked by many people every day. Many
people want to be successful, but can have rough start early in life. This does not
have to be the case for many because life is short and being happy is a very
important for many. Although many people may not realize how valuable life
really is, it is important to appreciate every moment in life and chase your dreams,
even if it means challenging yourself every day. First of all, Hamlet was not a very
positive human being; he asks himself whether he wants to live or not. It is seen
that Hamlet has a negative perspective on life; in fact despises his life so much, he
wishes he could end it. Hamlet states that his life is a sea of troubles and wants to
end his life (Shakespeare III.i.5 6). Shakespeare uses this to show how Hamlet
viewed life and how much of a coward he really was. Hamlet was a pessimistic man
who does not compare to Jobs at all because he was a man who loved life and went
through a lot of challenges . Unlike Hamlet, it is seen that Ebert is a very positive
man, despite the challenges he has faced. Even though Ebert has been through a lot
in life, he still does what he loves. He wants to make... Show more content on

ROBERT MONDAVI AND THE WINE INDUSTRY CASE ANALYSIS by Alberto

Global wine industry structure. How and why is this structure changing?
Production and consumption of wine was mostly localized until the early 1990 s.
Wine producers in different countries were traditionally isolated from each other, and
most of the world s wine drinkers consumed either local wines or imports from
nearby producers. Winemakers had minimal cross border interaction and followed
local traditions.
The wine industry is divided geographically in two areas:
The Old World countries, defined as those within Europe, have a long,
uninterrupted history of wine production and consumption. The four largest
European producers, France, Italy, Spain, and ... Show more content on

Similarly, in the United States, jug wines sales had declined approximately 3% per
year during the past decades, while premium sales grew 8% 10% annually. Pushing
affordable wine on to the shelves of new world markets will not necessarily increase
global consumption by itself. Consumers have to pull the bottles off the shelves in
consistent purchases. Although US per capita premium consumption has been
increasing, in order to increase further wine must be marketed in a way that will
promote everyday drinking among a greater percentage of the population in a socially
responsible manner.
The vast majority of US wine consumers consider themselves uneducated in wine
matters and have trouble remembering which wines they liked. Researches in
consumer behavior have shown that people appear to be confused during the wine
selection process. Customers have expressed that they want to be able to easily
identify the wines they will enjoy without having to solicit personal assistance in the
store. Many inexperienced wine drinkers feel confused about all the wine choices,
especially the intricacies of foreign appellations. Producers need to design and label
wines that consumers can better understand .

Why Was John Diefenbaker A Good Leader
Diefenbakers changes to immigration is why he should be remembered as the
Canadian Prime Minister who best defended human rights. Upon becoming the
Prime Minister of Canada, John diefenbakers intention was to unify and create
equality for all Canadians. I have one love Canada; one purpose Canada s greatness;
one aim Canadian unity from the Atlantic to the Pacific. (George par.1). Canadawas
Diefenbakers main focus, because John diefenbaker had such a great passion to see
Canada unified, this made Diefenbaker a good leader. From the moment he was

Diefenbaker believed that if you were Canadian, no matter your race, gender,
ethnicity or abilities, you are accredited to your rights. For this reason John
Diefenbaker was a successful human rights defender. Not only did Diefenbaker
make effective changes to the Canadian Immigration Policy, he fought for what he
believed was right as well. For instance Diefenbaker created The Canadian Bill of
Rights for the protection of fundamental human rights, he strongly opposed the
action of Japanese internment and took a stand against it. John Diefenbaker
achieved plenty more than what was previously stated. Very much so that,
Diefenbaker had a freedom award named after him, that would be awarded to
individuals or groups who have shown courage and leadership in defending rights.
Therefore, Diefenbaker was recognized as a successful prime minister who
defended human rights and we should continue to remember him like so. If this new
Immigration Policy had not been as successful as it was, Diefenbakers legacy would
not be memorable. Diefenbakers changes to immigration was for the better of
Canada. The change to a more open and inclusive Immigration Policy in 1967 has
had significant effects on shaping the social democratic fabric of Canadian society,

`Managing and running a public agency is never a simple task. In addition to running
efficiently and effectively, public organizations are often expected to be responsive to
citizens. However, occasionally there are issues with the structure of an organization
and its decision making processes that are problematic. As exemplified by the case
study involving Steve and the Department of Transportation (DOT), such issues are
present and are therefore making its responsiveness to the public particularly poor.
First, there is an extreme lack of cooperation between departments. Secondly, Steve
makes some excellent suggestions, however, rethink his decision making process.
Third, In order to become a more responsive department, first the DOT must rearrange
its organizational structure. Lastly, by adopting a team approach, the DOT has the
potential to become a more effective organization.
The root cause of the lack of success in the organization is the lack of cooperation
between the departments. The commission can take countless steps in order to
improve upon public responsiveness, however these efforts will be futile if the
departments are not properly cooperating with each other. The division of labor
within the DOT is at the heart of this issue. Many times, a response to a citizen s
question requires information from more than one agency or bureau, and getting that
information takes time and effort (Lee, p. 204). The DOT is broken

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Of Desire
Wim Wenders (the director of Wings of Desire) does not show the angels as a
normally angel would be depicted. Wim Wenders uses the angels as more of a
witness than a guardian. The role of the angel s in Wings of Desire is to see. They
move silently through the city of Berlin; watching and listening to the actions taking
place around them. The angels are there to show you are not alone. This film shows
what it is like to see what is taking place around you, but not being able to engage in.
This depiction would differ from an orthodox understanding of angels because the
angels in the film do not engage themselves in the actions taking place. A typical
representation of an angel would be the guardian angel. A guardian angel is one that

wrong that could have been avoided. Realizing my mistakes and fixing them made
the job that much easier. Be Prepared: Being prepared is an important step to
making sure you do the job right. I wasn t prepared when I started. I had the paint,
the brushes, the rollers and the paint tray. What I didn t have was painters tape,
plastic and enough paint. Painters tape is important to have. When I was painting, I
figured that I could be careful enough to not get paint on anything that I didn t
want to paint. Boy was I wrong. No matter how hard I tried to not get paint on
something I didn t want painted, I ended up getting paint on it. Painters tape is a
must have no matter how perfect you think you are. Plastic is needed if you do not
want paint to end up on your floor. Again, I figured that I could be careful enough
to not get it on the floor. Nope, I got paint on the floor by accidentally kicking over
the paint tray. If you re clumsy, use plastic to cover the floors. Even if you re not
clumsy, you never know what might happen. Having enough paint keeps you from
having to go out and buy more. I had a small portion of a wall that I wanted to paint
a different color of the rest of the wall as an accent. I thought that I could get by with
just using a small can of paint that color. Yet again I was wrong. I ended up not
having enough paint.
How Did Andrew Jackson Remove From The 20 Dollar Bill
Andrew Jackson, should he be worthy to be in our pockets? During his time as
president Andrew Jackson was a controversial man. He did many things that left a
huge impact on this great nation. Jackson was the leader that caused the Trail of
Tears which sent many Native Americans west of the Mississippi River so they
could have a better lifestyle. Jackson did not like the decision of the Supreme
Court which said the Native tribe could stay on their land but Jackson forced them

television programmes. It means the theme of the book, e.t.c. and in the case of a

a programme or film makes clear what genre it is. For example, a horror should make

the calculator, but the patent on the calculator was granted to Burroughs. In 1886,
Burroughs invented his first commercial adding machine called the P100 Burroughs
Adding Machine that almost resembled a typewriter. His invention was used as
inspiration for Otto Steiger, who invented the Millionaire , which was essentially

reason why Burroughs received the patent was because he developed an oil filled

machine worked properly no matter what and that he could still get the right answer,
no matter the order the numbers were entered in. Unlike this newer and more

depending on which way you pulled its lever, you could get varying answers. In
fact, his very first adding machine weighed about 63 pounds! As time progressed,
several inventors took Burroughs model and made it more and more portable. Now,

Xebec Research Paper
This is a model of an 18th century Arabian chebec. Chebecs were originally Arab
constructions that were famous for their speed and maneuverability. They were
primarily fast, light sailing warships, but in calms could also be rowed by means of
oars through smaller ports in the bulwarks between each two adjacent guns. They are
thought to have originated in Algeria, and were used by corsairs of the Maghreb
from the beginning of the 17th century. The chebec s proved very useful as fast
raiders, dispatch boats and merchant ships. The Barbary States of that time were to a
large extent autonomous outposts of the Ottoman Empire and attacked the ships of
the merchant fleets of those nations, which unlike England and France did not have

Xebecs were similar to galleys used by Algerian corsairs and Barbary pirates
having both lateen sails and oars for propulsion. Early xebecs had two masts; later
ones three. Xebecs featured a distinctive hull with pronounced overhanging bow
and rarely displaced more than 200 tons, making them slightly smaller and with
slightly fewer guns than frigates of the period. The Chebec was a typical ship with
roots in North African countries. It was the typical format for ships frequenting
the ports of Algiers, Tunis and Tripoli. The Chebec was armed with 24 cannons.
This particular ship model is based on the French Chebec design of the ship Le
Requinto . The French and Spanish both copied the North African ship design for
its speed. Le Requinto was one of eight chebecs built in France between 1750 and
1762. Le Requinto was built by Joseph Caubet, a native of Majorca, and the build
lasted eight months. The amazing aerodynamic profile of this ship speaks for its
speed capabilities. Chebecs were used in the Mediterranean by French corsairs
mainly for quick interception and getaway. This is a fantastic plank on frame ship

Social Welfare Past and Present Essay
Social Welfare Past and Present
Social welfare is an expansive system proposed to maintain the well being of
individuals within a society. This paper will explain the progression from the feudal
system and church provisions for the poor before the Elizabethan Poor Law to the
gradual assumption of the responsibility for the poor by the government. A
responsibility assumed not out of humanity and concern for the poor, but as a
process of standardizing the ways in which the poor were to be managed. The
history of social welfare reflects differences in values as they relate to social
responsibility in taking care of the needy. Our society has been influenced by values

Social welfare in Colonial America was nonexistent, because of this charity was
heavily relied on since there was no government policy to provide for the poor. A
carry over from England was the establishment of almshouses or workhouses
provided by indoor relief. This fit in well with the Puritan work ethic of the colonists.
The next important period in the history of social welfare was the time between
the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. It was during this time that a shift to outdoor
relief occurred. Work relief programs and in kind benefits now provided aid. Also
during this time the voluntary sector rose and the emphasis was put on charitable
institutions. It was in the large cities during the 19th century that various
organizations were established to lessen the suffering of the poor. One of these
organizations was the New York Society for the Prevention of Pauperism (1817),
which used visitors to assess and respond to the needs of the poor. Another such
organization was the Association for Improving the Condition of the poor (1843).
This organization required an assessment of individuals needs so that relief agencies
could be more effective. Also, Buffalo s Charity Organization Society (COS) desired
to organize charities to prevent duplication of services and to
Drag Queens Perform Gender
This project is focused on drag queens and the extent to which they perform gender.
Many scholars have looked at the performance of gender within the context of the
gender binary. Many scholars, feel that drag breaks down this binary whereas others
feel that the binary and heteronormativity are perpetuated by and instilled within
drag. Regardless of the debate, it goes without question that drag queens perform
genderon stage.
The topic of drag queens performing gender is sociologically important for a variety
of reasons. One of the simplest is that there is not much literature or research on this
topic and in a time where transgender matters are a red button issue in the United
States; I think it is important to highlight another and somewhat ... Show more content

Tauches states that gender is a socially constructed term and our behavior is
supposed to be contingent on our gender identity. The gender binary, being either
female or male, allows people to easily determine the sex of someone else. Butler
feels that drag disrupts this binary and heteronormativity. By performing a gender that
may not match the anatomy underneath the costume, a queen makes it hard to
distinguish gender and blurs the lines of the binary. Tauches also states that gender is
based on what is considered legitimate or correct for a certain sex. This notion is
prevalent throughout the works of Bishop, Mann and Horowitz. Each work shows, to
a certain extent, how heteronormativity dictates not only how drag queens perform
gender, but how they are perceived. In Bishop s work, drag queens are viewed as less
than in some cases because they do not perform the correct masculine standard. In
Mann s work, Suzanne performs gender by using stereotypical feminine Southern
language that is considered polite or correct for the regional location. In Horowitz s
work, queens emulate the hegemonic feminine standard while performing.
Contingent upon the work of Bishop, Mann and Horowitz, Tauches might state that
drag queens perform the socially constructed ideal of gender and the behavioral
characteristics that accompany the gender being

What Is Propaganda
To me propaganda is a holy word . Propaganda had been widely used in the
advertising during the economic depression deceiving much of the working force,
it was not until a Journalist spoke up and expose the truth behind the politics

radical publication of the 1933 journal cover, the New Masses, a factory worker
breaks free from the chains that are meant as an allusion to the working class,
industrial servitude and the repression represented by the American worker. The
Allusion Captured through the new masses highlighted the working class rising
above those in power. For instance, the American worker is represented as King

Noise in Electronic Communications Systems
An additive noise is characteristic of almost all communication systems. This additive
noise typically arises from thermal noise generated by random motion of electrons in
the conductors comprising the receiver. In a communication system the thermal noise
having the greatest effect on system performance is generated at and before the first
stage of amplification. This point in a communication system is where the desired
signal takes the lowest power level and consequently the thermal noise has the
greatest impact on the performance. This characteristic is discussed in more detail in
Chapter 10. This chapter s goal is to introduce the mathematical techniques used by
communication system engineers to characterize and predict the... Show more content

It turns out that W(t) is accurately characterized as a stationary, Gaussian, and white
random process. Consequently, our first task is to define a random process
(Section 9.1). The exposition of the characteristics of a Gaussian random process
(Section 9.2) and a stationary Gaussian random process (Section 9.3) then will
follow. A brief discussion of the characteristics of thermal noise is then followed
by an analysis of stationary random processes From this point forward in the text
the experimental outcome index will be dropped and random processes will be
represented as N(t). EXAMPLE 9.1 A particular random process is defined as N(t)
= U exp[в€’|t|] + V (9.1) where U and V are independent random variables. It is
clear that with each sample value of the random variables U(П‰) and V (П‰)
there will be a time function N(t, П‰). This example of a random process is not
typical of a noise process produced in real communication systems but it is an
example process that proves insightful as we develop tools to characterize noise in
communications. EXAMPLE 9.2 A noise generator and a lowpass filter are
implemented in Matlab with a sample rate of 22,050 kHz. Recall each time Matlab
is run this is equivalent to a different experiment outcome, i.e., a different П‰. A
sample path of the input noise to the filter, W(t), and a sample path at the output of
the filter, N(t), is shown in Figure 9.3 for a filter with a bandwidth of 2.5 kHz. It is
The Adherence Of Taking Antiretroviral
The adherence in the consumption of taking Antiretroviral (ARV) medication in
adolescents and young adults with HIV/AIDS are often disturbed by different factors.
Studies suggest that adolescents respond poorly to highly active antiviral therapy.
(Nachega et al., 2009). Factors such as daily routine, personal mental health,
negligence, and understanding of the illness shall be addressed. Alongside the
assistance of research on this topic, this essay will outline the elements that affect the
adherence to ARV treatment in young adults with HIV/AIDS.
The treatment of ARV medication in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS is
one that is the most commonly used. The goal of the ARV therapy (ART) is to
constantly suppress the replication of HIV cells in the body, in order for the person
to live a maintainable healthy life. An adolescent is a person who is in the current
development from a child to an adult. In this stage of development adolescents are
described as being in a stage of mental, physical, and emotional maturation. Some
problems they are faced with are; risk taking, an increased amount of sexual
relationships, recreational drug use, alcohol, behavioral experimentation and identity
formation. (Kim, Gerver, Fidler, Ward, 2014). Thus adolescents are by nature still
finding their feet and still developing their maturity, this increases the influence of
external factors that affects their ART and therefore increases the adherence in the
consumption of their ARV s.
The Chrysanthemums
John Steinback created a masterpiece that describes a most peculiar case of a
strong minded woman bound by a rural area during the 1920 s and 30 s. The
narrator writes about a rather troubled protagonist who seems to have a lot of
ambition built up inside to change her ways of just being an old fashioned marital
wife. Her biggest problem could be the fact she is being repressed by the primitive
ideology that men work and women nurture. Studying the characters and point of
view of The Chrysanthemums allows for a better understanding to how truly alone
our protagonist, Elisa, may feel. The protagonist is a round character who is first
introduced when she is in her jail cell, the garden. The narrator describes Elisa s
questionable outfit that
The Importance Of Gender Pronouns
Introduce the issue
Gender pronouns are an ever growing issue in our world, developing into an
exceptionally hot
topic in today s society. There are some citizens out there who prefer the use of non
binary pronouns
such as they/their instead of him/her, because they feel as though their gender should
not be assumed.
Even though some people may not agree with banning gender pronouns, it would
protect transgender
and other non binary people from discrimination, expand the possibilities for gender
identity and
expression, and reduce the impact that gender has on our educational system.
Explain why it is compelling to you
Gender pronouns make me curious because most humans do not have to worry about
harassment due to their gender or how they portray themselves. This is bothersome to
me because we
are all human beings and in my opinion, deserve the same rights as everyone else.
There are many
obstacles that trans and non binary people have to face, such as harassment,
discrimination, and they
may not get the same opportunities within the job market or colleges because of their
personal gender
choices. A national Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that 26% of trans
people lost their jobs
due to bias, 50% were harassed on the job, 20% were evicted or denied housing, and
78% of trans
students were harassed or assaulted (Transequality.org. 2017.) From the web article

All That Jazz: America s Original Art Form
Jazz started in New Orleans in the late 19th Century when the combination of
European horns ran into the loud rumble of African drums. Local folk took that sound
and put it together with the music they heard in churches and the music they heard in
bars and saloons and they played a new music, wild and euphoric. It is said to have
grown from a combination of African folk music and rhythms, Caribbean and African
American music. (Hennessey, 1973) Jazz spans a period of over 100 years and
encompasses a range of music from ragtime to the present day. It makes heavy use of

In New Orleans: The Melting Pot of Sound, Wynton Marsalis stated, New Orleans
had a great tradition of celebration. Opera, military marching bands, folk music, the
blues, different types of church music, ragtime, echoes of traditional African
drumming, and all of the dance styles that went with this music could be heard and
seen throughout the city. When all of these kinds of music blended into one, jazz
was born. (Gopal, 2013) Marsalis went on to state that one of the most influential
artist in the history of jazz music was Louis Armstrong. Born in New Orleans,
Louisiana, on August 4, 1901, he began playing the cornet at the age of 13. With
renowned pieces such as: What a Wonderful World , When the Saints Go Marching
In and Ain t Misbehavin , Armstrong perfected the improvised jazz solo as we
know it. Before Armstrong, Dixieland was the style of jazz that everyone was
playing. This was a style that featured collective improvisation where everyone
soloed at once. Armstrong developed the idea of musicians playing during breaks
that expanded into musicians playing individual solos. This became the norm.
Affectionately known as Pops and Satchmo, Louis was loved and admired
throughout the world. He died in New York City on July 6, 1971. (Louis Armstrong

Generational Differences in the Classroom
Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they
were younger. It should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it
comes to learning. The key to being able to appeal to each of the different
generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in order to satisfy the different
preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the workforce and those
four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the
Millennials. This paper will examine the characteristics of these four generations, how
their learning styles differ, and what to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important for these adult students to have time to understand concepts that
involve the use of technology. The next generation to be examined is the Baby
Boomers, the Baby Boomers were born in the early 1940 s to early 1960 s. This
generation occupies a lot of top executive roles in the workforce and are not retiring
as they were expected to (Levonius, 2015). The Baby Boomers were taught to grow
up questioning authority and standing up for themselves when they needed to.
Around the time this generation was in school there was a grade inflation in the
educational system, and the Boomer s strived to achieve these high grade marks.
Baby Boomers were taught in a linear fashion, they were taught by lecture, and the
technology they had included overhead projectors and some videos (Warren, 2012).
Since this generation was accustomed to trying to achieve high grades they became
achievement oriented adults. Education was quite a bit different from earlier
generations in this era (Olson, 2011). There was more emphasis placed on students
to finish high school, and for the first time in history more students were attending
college. From both the size of the generation as well as their impact to society, Baby
Boomers have strong sense of self and a desire for involvement in their world,
particularly at work (Olson, 2011). They have a strong work ethic, and a desire to

My Career Path On Museums
I was nine years old when I went on my first adventure. Accompanied by my closest
friend, I darted through forests and the ocean, explored a sailing ship and a twentieth
century town, and marveled at the monumental carvings of native Canadians and an
Ice Age landscape. That day my fourth grade class was fortunate enough to travel to
the Royal British Columbia Museumin Victoria. What seemed to be a grand
adventure in the mind of a nine year old was actually my friend and I racing as fast
as our legs (and our chaperone) would allow us through the museums exhibits. I had
always been an inquisitive child; however, that trip was the first time I truly
understood how much joy I could experience while learning.
I aspire to help others experience the childlike joy which I felt when first visiting
the Royal BC Museum and I intend to achieve my goal by becoming a museum
curator. I have chosen to focus my career path on museums because, as my
childhood experience demonstrates, they are the ideal venue to encourage a lifelong
love of learning. The process of learning in a museum is not passive, instead visitors
are encouraged to seek our information for themselves. Not only is this activity
enjoyable for the visitor, it also exemplifies the idea that we should be engaged in our
own education and curious about the subject matter. Additionally, museums are a
unique educational experience because their objects offer visitors a concrete
connection to what they are learning about. Viewing
Hip Hop And Its Impact On African American Culture
In the 70 s a new genre of music was created in South Bronx, New York. That genre
is known as Hip Hop. Over the years Hip Hop has gained popularity becoming
arguably one of the most influential forms of music to date. Hip Hop artist or Mc s
used it to express their views on a multitude of topics to their fans. These topics
range wildly from the more serious subjects like the everyday life of people living
in the projects, personal obstacles they had to endure, and politics. As well as, more
lighthearted topics like enjoying your time in a night club or hanging out with
friends. For those reasons, I believe Hip Hop is representative of the African American
community.
Even after 25 years hip hop has continued to reflect issues that are going on in black
communities. I think that hip hop has transformed from just a genre of music to more

Data Retention In Australia
Governments have for centuries attempted to restrict the privacy of their citizens. For
some time now this has also included efforts to regulate citizens communications data
by means of collecting and storing information gathered by providers of
communication services. These efforts are referred to as data retention measures and
would grant law enforcement agencies unlimited access to this data (Clarke, 2014).
Early this year (2015), the Australian Government amended its Telecommunications
(Interception and Access) Act in terms of Data Retention, commonly referred to as
metadata . The term metadata has no formal definition in the Act but has been
described as machine produced data, expressed in terms of data and content (ABC,

The retention of data will indeed make contact with sources challenging, and even
frustrating. However, when has investigative journalism ever been easy? Take Bob
Woodward and Carl Bernstein back in 1972 for example, who relied on unnamed
confidential source Deep Throat for leads on the Watergate scandal involving then
President Nixon. Investigative journalism has always been discrete and conducted in
a secretive fashion, so why should metadata retention stop or see a decline in the
work of undercover reporters? It most certainly should not. The media play an
essential role in democracy. It is now more than ever, the time for investigative
journalists to overcome these new obstacles and continue seeking truths and
discovering secrets, even under the watch of Big

Dialectical materialism is the view that that the world exists independently of our
perception of it and that as it is sole reality it has primacy over the ideal, the
imagined, and the spiritual.
In the film Pulp Fiction, by Quentin Tarantinothe theme of capitalism was truly
apparent, from the discussion of the Big Mac in France by Jules and Vince to the
success of the gang boss Marsellus. It is relatively evident that it played a big part
in making the film especially where other more obvious displays of greed and
capitalism are in the final scenes when the couple, Honey Bunny and Pumpkin,
holds up the restaurant. The man explains to his wife that nobody ever thinks to rob
a coffee shop and he makes the point that it is the perfect crime of opportunity. All
of the primary and characters and protagonists display materialistic personas,
attempting to recreate their own past and future by means of consumption and a
form of class struggle against the gang leader, portraying a land owner or
bourgeoisie, by the workers .
Postmodernism is a term which is highly contested in the sociological world, where
it is used to indicate a significant detachment from modernism. It is easier to give the
uses of the term; to give a name to the present historical period, to name a specific
style in arts and architecture and to name a point of rupture or disjuncture in
epistemology (Buchanan, 2010). For this,
Persuasive Essay On Newlyweds
Can anybody find me, somebody, to love? Freddy passionately sings in every
performance with the band Queen. In a hectic world, it is easy to put finding love
on the backburner of life. Money, social gatherings, educational pursuits and career
ambitions are all important in life, but can sometimes be the reason for leaving
love in the dust. Getting married young can be a great way to establish yourself to
live a happy, enjoyable, successful life with someone you love. There are many
critical decisions at this stage in life that will impact a newlywed s future together.
Preparing for a weddingis quite the burden to be taken on for young couples who
may be at university; or perhaps, already started their career, but if they know it is
what they want to do there is no question if the stress and pressure are worth it. One
of the most stressful decisions for young newlywed couples is where to spend their
honeymoon, rest assured the answer is here: all young newlyweds should go on a
cruisefor their honeymoon.
A major reason for young newlyweds to go on a cruise for their honeymoon is
because of the relaxation and rejuvenation they will receive. The revitalization is
needed, for planning for a wedding can stress a couple out for months, in addition
to the everyday stresses of life. Many critics may attest that going on a cruise can be
the opposite of relaxing because of the hundreds of other passengers. A great benefit
of going on a cruise with many other people is that we can
Gender Inequality In The Workplace
In the United States as well as other industrial nations, considerable social and
economic disparity is shaped in organizations based on the customary activities of the
working and organizing the work. Various stakeholders such as the civil rights
reformers and the union activists have always based their demands on this notion to
understand how inequalities are instigated and continued. Despite the additional
effort put in place to eradicate inequalities based on several social factors; the
inequalities remain persistent and manifest within the workplaces and the
organizational practices (Alam, 2011). All the organizations have inequality regimes
which can be described simply as the interlinked practices, processes, undertakings,
and connotations that result in and maintain inequalities in specific organizations.
Such inequalities within the workplace result in the discrimination, which occurs
when an individual is treated less favorably compared to others due to an individual
s attribute rather than an individual s capability to do the job (OHRC, 2008). This
paper explores the discrimination based on genderand race in an attempt of illustrating
how such discriminations manifest in the workplace, and how that affects the
likelihood of being a part of the working poor.
Typically, gender is defined as the social construct that sets variances among men and
women as well as the opinions and characteristics that back the disparity. Despite the
efforts made to enhance diversity

this essay is what you should read! We will teach you how to take care of himher,
feeding himher and keeping himher healthy! When you get a leopard gecko you

Realism In Jacobe s Room
Because the world had utterly changed, writing could not go as before; due to the
war and to new social relations... old plots could not include the new experiences
modernity offered up, the old styles of description could not get at the feelings and
landscapes modernity created... New questions, new subjects, new perceptions had to
remake fiction, and new forms were needed to make the changes possible... It had
to modernize, and find ways to say what the modern eye now saw to interpret
modern experience, and perhaps even to help shape its chaos into better forms of
life. (Matz 23) The modern writers deliberately avoid presenting the unity and
coherence of plot and character. There is a radical disruption in the linear flow of
narrative. They lessened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacob s Room composes of a series of pictures of Jacob Flanders taken from the
different stages of his life his childhood, his student days at Cambridge, his proud
independence in rooms in London, his love affairs, his visit to France and Greece,
his death in the war and then the room full of belongings. Jacob, the child, is seen
first on the sea shore watching an opal shelled crab beginning his journey on
weakly legs on the sandy bottom while his mother, Betty Flanders is writing a
letter to Captain Barfoot and his elder brother Archer is searching him calling Ja
cob! Ja cob! (Pg 8) Jacob is one of the three children of Betty Flanders; others are
Archer and John. On account of the death of her husband, Seabrook, two years
ago, the entire responsibility of nursing, bringing up and educating the children
has fallen on the shoulders of Betty Flanders. She asks Mr Floyd, the clergyman, to
teach them if he can. Mr Floyd teaches Jacob Latin and wants to marry his mother
but Betty rejects his offer. It is impossible for Betty to marry anyone. Rejected by
Mrs. Flanders, Mr Floyd marries Miss Wimbush of Andover and goes to Sheffield.
Before leaving them, Mr Floyd asks Archer, Jacob and John to choose whatever
they like in his study room to remember him by. Archer chooses a paper knife;
Jacob chooses the works of Byron in one volume and John, Mr. Floyd s
Trifles Feminist Analysis
A feminist critic of Trifles The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell shows a very
traditional view of roles that are played by men and women during the early 20th
century. The title of the play is indicative of how women are viewed by society.
Roles that men and women faced were quite set in stone, in a very conformist
standard. Men were expected to do the hard jobs, the important work and were
responsible for handling the harsh realities of the world. A shift in the image of
how women roles were defined was around the corner with the progressive
movement However, in 1916, women were still tied down to the traditional values.
Women were treated as delicate and unable to handle tasks men were expected to
handle. They were tied down to doing trivial work, wither in their household, or in
the limited working field they had access to. Women s key role was reproductive
and confined them as the caretaker of the household. In the play trifles , Glaspell
displays the trivial and often restrictive roles that are placed on women. Are women
best in such roles or are they protected by men from the harshness that the world can
bring. Even in modern day, women generally seem to be in safer conditions, or even
smaller roles, that protect them from large difficult tasks. women, in the modern era,
are mostly limited to such positions and seen as only supporters, given subordinate
tasks while men attempt to take a more pivotal role. In the play, the women, Mrs.
Peters and Mrs. Hale are
Servant Leadership By Robert K. Greenleaf
Servant leadership is something that counters common sense. It is not the image of
a leader that comes to mind when you think of someone who is a leader Servants
are individuals that are known for following and bowing down while leaders are
individuals who exhibit power and enforce rule. It is difficult to picture a leader also
having characteristics of a servant. While it may be difficult to picture, servant
leadershipoffers a unique perspective to leadership and often times is incredibly
effective. Servant leadership is a type of leadership that focuses on the behaviors
of the leader. Northouse states, a servant leader must be attentive to the concerns
of their followers, empathize with them, and nurture them (2013). Servant
leadership demands that the leader empower his followers and help to build them
up in order to reach their full potential. Servant leadership helps enrich the lives of
the individuals working for the company and ultimately builds more caring
organizations. Robert K. Greenleaf wrote an essay entitled The Servant As Leader
in 1970 where he said: The servant leader is servant first... It begins with the
natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings
one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first,
perhaps because of the need to assuage an unusual power drive or to acquire material
possessions...The leader first and the servant first are two extreme types. Between
them there are
The Textbook, Sociology
The textbook Sociology has tons of information at its publisher website, which
includes a different variety of resources that can help expand a student s
understanding of the book and review concepts as well. The website not only has
information about the textbook, but has other types of reliable information from
outside sources to help understand sociologyon a different level. The resources that
the website provided were useful, but the resources that I believe that will help me
the most is the glossary, the exams, and career opportunities. The glossary has a list
of all of the important terms in the textbook in alphabetical order and I can use this to
see all the important terms that I will need to know. The midterm and final exam on
the website serve as a preparation that can help me review and be readily prepared
once the exams finally approaches. The last resource that I consider important is the
career opportunities because not only does it provide information on job search, it
also includes websites that offer internships. The website provided many helpful
resources, but each chapter in the textbook has their own resources that can help
explain the chapter more thoroughly. Chapter three Culture has plenty of resources
that are beneficial to me and other students. In chapter three there is plenty of
information that can be useful to many students, but two particular resources that
caught my attention were using your sociological imagination and internet

Essay On Respect In The Military. RESPECT ARMYs Amino

  • 1. Essay On Respect In The Military Writing an essay on the theme of respect within the military can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The complexity arises from the need to delve into the multifaceted aspects of respect within a highly structured and disciplined environment. One must not only understand the general principles of respect but also consider how they manifest within the unique culture of the military. Firstly, grasping the intricacies of military life, hierarchy, and the code of conduct is essential. This involves delving into the historical context, organizational structure, and the values that underpin military ethos. Balancing a respect for authority with the acknowledgment of individual rights and responsibilities is a delicate task. Moreover, addressing the diverse perspectives on respect within the military community adds another layer of complexity. Respect might vary between different ranks, branches, and even among individuals with different roles and responsibilities. Considering these nuances requires a nuanced understanding of military culture. The challenge further deepens when exploring the consequences of disrespect within the military. Discussing instances of insubordination or the erosion of unit cohesion due to a lack of respect demands careful analysis and a balanced perspective. Crafting a cohesive and compelling essay on this topic also involves drawing upon real-life examples, historical events, and perhaps even personal anecdotes. Incorporating relevant research and scholarly perspectives adds depth to the discussion. Despite these challenges, writing on such a topic provides an opportunity for personal growth and a deeper appreciation for the importance of respect within a military context. By navigating the complexities and presenting a well-reasoned argument, one can contribute to a broader understanding of the role of respect in maintaining order and effectiveness within the armed forces. In conclusion, while composing an essay on respect in the military may present difficulties due to the need for a comprehensive understanding of military culture, hierarchy, and consequences of disrespect, it is a valuable exercise in exploring the nuances of this essential concept within a unique context. These are questions that are asked by many people every day. Many people want to be successful, but can have rough start early in life. This does not have to be the case for many because life is short and being happy is a very important for many. Although many people may not realize how valuable life really is, it is important to appreciate every moment in life and chase your dreams, even if it means challenging yourself every day. First of all, Hamlet was not a very positive human being; he asks himself whether he wants to live or not. It is seen that Hamlet has a negative perspective on life; in fact despises his life so much, he wishes he could end it. Hamlet states that his life is a sea of troubles and wants to end his life (Shakespeare III.i.5 6). Shakespeare uses this to show how Hamlet viewed life and how much of a coward he really was. Hamlet was a pessimistic man who does not compare to Jobs at all because he was a man who loved life and went through a lot of challenges . Production and consumption of wine was mostly localized until the early 1990 s. Wine producers in different countries were traditionally isolated from each other, and most of the world s wine drinkers consumed either local wines or imports from nearby producers. Winemakers had minimal cross border interaction and followed local traditions. The wine industry is divided geographically in two areas: The Old World countries, defined as those within Europe, have a long, uninterrupted history of wine production and consumption. Similarly, in the United States, jug wines sales had declined approximately 3% per year during the past decades, while premium sales grew 8% 10% annually. Pushing affordable wine on to the shelves of new world markets will not necessarily increase global consumption by itself. Consumers have to pull the bottles off the shelves in consistent purchases. Although US per capita premium consumption has been increasing, in order to increase further wine must be marketed in a way that will promote everyday drinking among a greater percentage of the population in a socially responsible manner. The vast majority of US wine consumers consider themselves uneducated in wine matters and have trouble remembering which wines they liked. Researches in consumer behavior have shown that people appear to be confused during the wine selection process. Customers have expressed that they want to be able to easily identify the wines they will enjoy without having to solicit personal assistance in the store. Many inexperienced wine drinkers feel confused about all the wine choices, especially the intricacies of foreign appellations. Producers need to design and label wines that consumers can better understand . Competitive Advantages Some countries are better positioned to gain from globalization than others. Old World producers were the first to define tastes

For this reason John Diefenbaker was a successful human rights defender. For instance Diefenbaker created The Canadian Bill of Rights for the protection of fundamental human rights, he strongly opposed the action of Japanese internment and took a stand against it. John Diefenbaker achieved plenty more than what was previously stated. Very much so that, Diefenbaker had a freedom award named after him, that would be awarded to individuals or groups who have shown courage and leadership in defending rights. Therefore, Diefenbaker was recognized as a successful prime minister who defended human rights and we should continue to remember him like so. In addition to running efficiently and effectively, public organizations are often expected to be responsive to citizens. However, occasionally there are issues with the structure of an organization and its decision making processes that are problematic. As exemplified by the case study involving Steve and the Department of Transportation (DOT), such issues are present and are therefore making its responsiveness to the public particularly poor. First, there is an extreme lack of cooperation between departments. Secondly, Steve makes some excellent suggestions, however, rethink his decision making process. Third, In order to become a more responsive department, first the DOT must rearrange its organizational structure. Lastly, by adopting a team approach, the DOT has the potential to become a more effective organization. The root cause of the lack of success in the organization is the lack of cooperation between the departments. The commission can take countless steps in order to improve upon public responsiveness, however these efforts will be futile if the departments are not properly cooperating with each other. The division of labor within the DOT is at the heart of this issue. Many times, a response to a citizen s question requires information from more than one agency or bureau, and getting that information takes time and effort (Lee, p. 204). The DOT is broken

The gender binary, being either female or male, allows people to easily determine the sex of someone else. Butler feels that drag disrupts this binary and heteronormativity. By performing a gender that may not match the anatomy underneath the costume, a queen makes it hard to distinguish gender and blurs the lines of the binary. Tauches also states that gender is based on what is considered legitimate or correct for a certain sex. This notion is prevalent throughout the works of Bishop, Mann and Horowitz. Each work shows, to a certain extent, how heteronormativity dictates not only how drag queens perform gender, but how they are perceived. In Bishop s work, drag queens are viewed as less than in some cases because they do not perform the correct masculine standard. In Mann s work, Suzanne performs gender by using stereotypical feminine Southern language that is considered polite or correct for the regional location. In Horowitz s work, queens emulate the hegemonic feminine standard while performing. Contingent upon the work of Bishop, Mann and Horowitz, Tauches might state that drag queens perform the socially constructed ideal of gender and the behavioral characteristics that accompany the gender being

This additive noise typically arises from thermal noise generated by random motion of electrons in the conductors comprising the receiver. In a communication system the thermal noise having the greatest effect on system performance is generated at and before the first stage of amplification. This point in a communication system is where the desired signal takes the lowest power level and consequently the thermal noise has the greatest impact on the performance. This characteristic is discussed in more detail in Chapter 10. This chapter s goal is to introduce the mathematical techniques used by communication system engineers to characterize and predict the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It turns out that W(t) is accurately characterized as a stationary, Gaussian, and white random process. Consequently, our first task is to define a random process (Section 9.1). The exposition of the characteristics of a Gaussian random process (Section 9.2) and a stationary Gaussian random process (Section 9.3) then will follow. A brief discussion of the characteristics of thermal noise is then followed by an analysis of stationary random processes From this point forward in the text the experimental outcome index will be dropped and random processes will be represented as N(t). EXAMPLE 9.1 A particular random process is defined as N(t) = U exp[в€’|t|] + V (9.1) where U and V are independent random variables. It is clear that with each sample value of the random variables U(П‰) and V (П‰) there will be a time function N(t, П‰). This example of a random process is not typical of a noise process produced in real communication systems but it is an example process that proves insightful as we develop tools to characterize noise in communications. The Adherence Of Taking Antiretroviral The adherence in the consumption of taking Antiretroviral (ARV) medication in adolescents and young adults with HIV/AIDS are often disturbed by different factors. Studies suggest that adolescents respond poorly to highly active antiviral therapy. (Nachega et al., 2009). Factors such as daily routine, personal mental health, negligence, and understanding of the illness shall be addressed. Alongside the assistance of research on this topic, this essay will outline the elements that affect the adherence to ARV treatment in young adults with HIV/AIDS. The treatment of ARV medication in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS is one that is the most commonly used. The goal of the ARV therapy (ART) is to constantly suppress the replication of HIV cells in the body, in order for the person to live a maintainable healthy life. An adolescent is a person who is in the current development from a child to an adult. In this stage of development adolescents are described as being in a stage of mental, physical, and emotional maturation. Some problems they are faced with are; risk taking, an increased amount of sexual relationships, recreational drug use, alcohol, behavioral experimentation and identity formation. (Kim, Gerver, Fidler, Ward, 2014). Thus adolescents are by nature still finding their feet and still developing their maturity, this increases the influence of external factors that affects their ART and therefore increases the adherence in the consumption of their ARV s.

There are some citizens out there who prefer the use of non binary pronouns such as they/their instead of him/her, because they feel as though their gender should not be assumed. Even though some people may not agree with banning gender pronouns, it would protect transgender and other non binary people from discrimination, expand the possibilities for gender identity and expression, and reduce the impact that gender has on our educational system. Explain why it is compelling to you Gender pronouns make me curious because most humans do not have to worry about harassment due to their gender or how they portray themselves. This is bothersome to me because we are all human beings and in my opinion, deserve the same rights as everyone else. There are many obstacles that trans and non binary people have to face, such as harassment, discrimination, and they may not get the same opportunities within the job market or colleges because of their personal gender choices. A national Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that 26% of trans people lost their jobs due to bias, 50% were harassed on the job, 20% were evicted or denied housing, and 78% of trans students were harassed or assaulted (Transequality.org. 2017.) Accompanied by my closest friend, I darted through forests and the ocean, explored a sailing ship and a twentieth century town, and marveled at the monumental carvings of native Canadians and an Ice Age landscape. That day my fourth grade class was fortunate enough to travel to the Royal British Columbia Museumin Victoria. What seemed to be a grand adventure in the mind of a nine year old was actually my friend and I racing as fast as our legs (and our chaperone) would allow us through the museums exhibits. I had always been an inquisitive child; however, that trip was the first time I truly understood how much joy I could experience while learning. I aspire to help others experience the childlike joy which I felt when first visiting the Royal BC Museum and I intend to achieve my goal by becoming a museum curator. I have chosen to focus my career path on museums because, as my childhood experience demonstrates, they are the ideal venue to encourage a lifelong love of learning. The process of learning in a museum is not passive, instead visitors are encouraged to seek our information for themselves. Not only is this activity enjoyable for the visitor, it also exemplifies the idea that we should be engaged in our own education and curious about the subject matter. Additionally, museums are a unique educational experience because their objects offer visitors a concrete connection to what they are learning about. Viewing

Gender Inequality In The Workplace In the United States as well as other industrial nations, considerable social and economic disparity is shaped in organizations based on the customary activities of the working and organizing the work. Various stakeholders such as the civil rights reformers and the union activists have always based their demands on this notion to understand how inequalities are instigated and continued. Despite the additional effort put in place to eradicate inequalities based on several social factors; the inequalities remain persistent and manifest within the workplaces and the organizational practices (Alam, 2011). All the organizations have inequality regimes which can be described simply as the interlinked practices, processes, undertakings, and connotations that result in and maintain inequalities in specific organizations. Such inequalities within the workplace result in the discrimination, which occurs when an individual is treated less favorably compared to others due to an individual s attribute rather than an individual s capability to do the job (OHRC, 2008). This paper explores the discrimination based on genderand race in an attempt of illustrating how such discriminations manifest in the workplace, and how that affects the likelihood of being a part of the working poor. Typically, gender is defined as the social construct that sets variances among men and women as well as the opinions and characteristics that back the disparity. Trifles Feminist Analysis A feminist critic of Trifles The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell shows a very traditional view of roles that are played by men and women during the early 20th century. The title of the play is indicative of how women are viewed by society. Roles that men and women faced were quite set in stone, in a very conformist standard. Men were expected to do the hard jobs, the important work and were responsible for handling the harsh realities of the world. A shift in the image of how women roles were defined was around the corner with the progressive movement However, in 1916, women were still tied down to the traditional values. Women were treated as delicate and unable to handle tasks men were expected to handle. They were tied down to doing trivial work, wither in their household, or in the limited working field they had access to. Women s key role was reproductive and confined them as the caretaker of the household. In the play trifles , Glaspell displays the trivial and often restrictive roles that are placed on women. Are women best in such roles or are they protected by men from the harshness that the world can bring. Even in modern day, women generally seem to be in safer conditions, or even smaller roles, that protect them from large difficult tasks. women, in the modern era, are mostly limited to such positions and seen as only supporters, given subordinate tasks while men attempt to take a more pivotal role. In the play, the women, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale are
  • 44. Servant Leadership By Robert K. Greenleaf Servant leadership is something that counters common sense. It is not the image of a leader that comes to mind when you think of someone who is a leader Servants are individuals that are known for following and bowing down while leaders are individuals who exhibit power and enforce rule. It is difficult to picture a leader also having characteristics of a servant. While it may be difficult to picture, servant leadershipoffers a unique perspective to leadership and often times is incredibly effective. Servant leadership is a type of leadership that focuses on the behaviors of the leader. Northouse states, a servant leader must be attentive to the concerns of their followers, empathize with them, and nurture them (2013). Servant leadership demands that the leader empower his followers and help to build them up in order to reach their full potential. Servant leadership helps enrich the lives of the individuals working for the company and ultimately builds more caring organizations. Robert K. Greenleaf wrote an essay entitled The Servant As Leader in 1970 where he said: The servant leader is servant first... It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first, perhaps because of the need to assuage an unusual power drive or to acquire material possessions...The leader first and the servant first are two extreme types. Between them there are

The Textbook, Sociology The textbook Sociology has tons of information at its publisher website, which includes a different variety of resources that can help expand a student s understanding of the book and review concepts as well. The website not only has information about the textbook, but has other types of reliable information from outside sources to help understand sociologyon a different level. The resources that the website provided were useful, but the resources that I believe that will help me the most is the glossary, the exams, and career opportunities. The glossary has a list of all of the important terms in the textbook in alphabetical order and I can use this to see all the important terms that I will need to know. The midterm and final exam on the website serve as a preparation that can help me review and be readily prepared once the exams finally approaches. The last resource that I consider important is the career opportunities because not only does it provide information on job search, it also includes websites that offer internships. The website provided many helpful resources, but each chapter in the textbook has their own resources that can help explain the chapter more thoroughly. Chapter three Culture has plenty of resources that are beneficial to me and other students. In chapter three there is plenty of information that can be useful to many students, but two particular resources that caught my attention were using your sociological imagination and internet
