left her to the flies . Ophelia is shocked to hear such a thing, and aks if their are any laws against
that. St. Clare explains that there isn t since slaves are considered property. Ophelia is disgusted
and asks St. Clare if he is supportive of that kinda thing, and he says he isn t, he finds it
disgusting, but he says that since he s lived with it for so long, it doesn t surprise him anymore, and
that he still technically practices slavery himself, very similar to Mrs. Shelby s views. St. Clare
continues to go on about how angry the system makes him, and how completely unfair it is. He
sees black people as humans just the same as whites. He talks about his mother and how sweet
she was, her morals and views were perfected and treated everyone equally, his father was much
different however. His twin brother was his father s son, and St. Clare his

Essay on Roman Persecution of Christians
From the third to the fourth century, the Roman Empire witnessed a widespread attempt to stop the
spread of Christianity. Initially, leaders of the church were predominately targeted, but later anyone
admitting to Christianity became a target. The persecutions hit a climax during Diocletian s reign.
These persecutions actually helped the spread of Christianityby glorifying Christians and beginning
a tradition of martyrdom that shaped the Church, and the strength that Christians displayed shows
that the persecutions could not have possible stopped the spread of Christianity. In the first half of
the third century, Christian persecution was fragmented and while Christianity was illegal, there is
not evidence that it was widely persecuted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also persisted throughout the fourth century. Often, enforcement of persecution laws was
really left up to local officials. There are reports of terrible and unrelenting persecution in some
areas, while there are no reports at all in others. Additionally, issues at the border throughout this
time often plagued emperors, so it was impossible to ensure that their edicts were universally
carried out. As a result, the empire simply was not equipped to completely halt the spread of
Christianity.
Because Christianity could not be completely purged by the Empire, it created an opportunity for
Christians to display how strongly they were devoted to the religion. The way in which they
responded made all the difference. Under pressure, they would not submit, and this was proof of the
force and influence of Christianity.
During the persecutions, churches and scripture were destroyed. Many were killed and tortured.
Despite this, many remained brave and unafraid according to accounts. The idea of redemption and
a magnificent afterlife led many Christians to almost fervently pursue martyrdom. These martyrs
were glorified, and miracles were reported to have occurred in their presence. They refused to reject
Christ and, in turn, were subjected to torture and humiliation. Eusebius describes the proceedings
during the Great Persecution: ...the rules in question brought a certain man into a public place and
commanded him to sacrifice. When he refused,

Persuasive Essay On Deforestation
Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of
wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the
destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue
deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate
change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but
not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do
not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation
because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became
interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people
are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China
and the US, I do not want the same to happen.
One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is
unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging
creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where
will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species
that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental
repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer
be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this
would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a
substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to
construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may
result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they
produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate.
When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will be released back into the

Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers
Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers
One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving
exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly
a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car
accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the
world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way,
the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the
privilege of being able to drive at such an early age.
Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a
vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own.
Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI
research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control,
and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this,
teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are
natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re
getting their permits and licenses. A 2005 study by the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development found that,

Title
The title of the article gave a fair representation of the topic as it was clear and concise in the
wording. The title encompassed the idea that alphabet letter instruction on young children s word
recognition would be explored through experiments and analysis. Reading on through the article it
was evident that the effects of alphabet letter instruction on you children s word recognition were
addressed.

were enrolled in a state funded, half day pre school program which served children from rather low
socio economic status families and backgrounds. The mean English oral proficiency score 0f 1.86
indicated that the children were on average classified as non English speaking.
The children in this study were blocked by language and oral proficiency. They were randomly
assigned to either letter rhyme or comprehension treatment. They received 16 weeks of either letter
rhyme instruction or comprehension instruction. Preteseting was conducted over a 2 week period
prior to the intervention. Following pretesting the 16 week instructional program was implemented.
There were three 20 25 minute lessons each week. Two trained teachers alternated weeks for the
first 12 weeks of the intervention to control for teacher effects. The researcher regularly observed
lessons.
There were three different aspects of the study. These included comprehension treatment, letter
rhyme treatment and word learning training.
Results
Before the intervention, a multivariate analysis, with pretest age, storybook vocabulary, letter name
knowledge and English oral proficiency was performed to determine the compatibility of the
children in the comprehension and letter name instructional groups.
To determine whether the letter name treatment had engendered

Jane Mysten s Literary Characters Of Jane Austen
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in the rural village of Steventon, England as the
seventh of eight children to Reverend George and Cassandra Austen. Her father, Rev. George
Austen of the Steventon Anglican parish, was an educated member of the clergy and the
descendant of a family in the business of wool manufacturing. Cassandra, Austen s mother, was
a scion of great social status, whose ancestors founded St. John s College at Oxford. Although
they were people of modest means, the Austen family was socially well connected, and was
considered to be one among several of the local elite families due to George s status in the
church. The Austen children grew up extremely close to one another. In particular, Jane was
extremely close to her only sister Cassandra, who was two years her senior. A classic Austen
family story by the two girls mother included the line that if Cassandra were to have her head
chopped off, Jane would demand that privilege too (Concise Dictionary of British Literary
Biography 3). Growing up, the two girls were roommates and best friends. Many scholars and
historians conclude that Austen s literary themes between sisters in her novels parallel her own
relationship with her sister Cassandra. At the age of seven, Jane and her sister Cassandra left to
attend Mrs. Cawley s boarding school in Oxford. On a trip that the girls took with Mrs. Cawley to
Southampton, Mrs. Cawley, and the girls became extremely ill from typhoid fever. Jane and

Ford and Richardson (1994) the model of ethical decision making is generally detached by
individual factors and situational factors, which in situational factors is the most important.
Individual factors helps to understand the reason for some people perceive specific action to be
unethical whiles others do not. However, the decision making cannot simply be explained in terms
of these individual factors, because after all several people seems to have multiple ethical selves
(Trevino and Nelson 2007:180) that is, they make different decisions in different situations.

The Daily Show pronounces itself as a fake news program, and it pulls its comedy and satire from
current news reports, politicians, media companies, and often, features of the show itself. The show
usually begins with an extended monologue from host, Jon Stewart, communicating new headlines
and regularly includes discussions with several correspondents, who assume ridiculous or
amusingly overstated takes on recent events against Stewart s straightforward character. The
concluding segment contains a celebrity interview, with guests varying from authors and political
figures to actors and musicians. Critics contend the show is a major source for news for the 18 to
34 year old age group because of their satire and sharp witted lampoon of... Show more content on

Newscasters current view of balance is to report both sides of an issue, despite the consequences.
Straightforward news has descended into a wacky belief that replaces balance for accuracy and
truth.
Virtually every matter can be described as a debate between two conflicting sides, and the
journalist is apprehensive of expressing that one side has it right, and the other side does not. It
leaves the audience in the position of having to consider opposing factual assertions, often without
enough info to properly choose that one side is clearly right, and the other side is striving to create
doubt with propaganda.
Interpretation
An interpretation of the show reflects that many viewers consider Stewart a reputable, true
journalist who provides a genuine take on current events. Many watchers obtain their news and
opinions from his show. Comparing the show s news outline with that of the more conventional
news media and investigating the listing of guests and segments, then placing the program into
some kind of media framework shows the structures are quite similar. This leads to the audience
giving credibility to the show as an authentic source for news. There are questions raised on how
Stewart achieves this. What is Stewart accomplishing on his program, The Daily Show with Jon
Stewart, which may affect people to believe him as a trustworthy commentator? How is the show
comparable to, and unlike from, what people get from the mainstream media? The

How far do you agree that the years 1945 55 saw only limited progress in improving the status of
African Americans?
The years of 1945 55 saw limited progress in improving the status of African Americans to an
extent; however, during this time period there was also an increased amount of progress for the
African American community in improving their status. There were many key factors, which
contributed to improving the status of African Americans, such as the work of key civil right
parties, for instance the NAACP and their approach to increase grass roots activism, and their
increased membership shows their wide support. In addition to this, there was also help from

Also, American Presidents begin to recognise the political power of Northern Blacks, so in 1949
William Haist was appointed a federal judge. This suggests that the American legal system has the
potential to be impartial towards African Americans and the Federal Government regarded them as
important voters. In addition, the impact of the American Economy played a huge role; in
improving the status of African Americans as by 1945 the number of unemployed African
Americans in the north fell sharply from 937,000, to 151,000. This is evident for an increase in
better standards of living, this is supported by the fact that 40per cent of housing in Washington
was found to be sub standard. As a result of these factors, it showed that there was some economic
and political progress during 1945 to 1955.
Furthermore, during this time period, there was numerous court cases against Jim Crow laws and
segregation, which resulted in a substantial amount of de jure change, in favour of the African
Americans. For instance, in 1950 there was the case of Sweatt v. Painter; Heman Sweatt was
refused admission to the University of Texas Law School. The case was brought to the Supreme
Court, and they ruled that Heman Sweatt was allowed to study law at the Texas College, as the
black college had significantly worst facilities. This De jure change, shows that the Supreme Court
were in support for civil rights, and wanted to push towards desegregation, and it was also a

The Myth Of Epic Of Gilgamesh
Sam Khidir
History 10
Professor Chrissanthos
4 October, 2016
From Myth to Religion The Sumerian myth Epic of Gilgamesh is known to be the oldest written
fictional story of all time. The original script, discovered on 12 clay tablets in ancient Sumeria,
covers the adventures of a real historical figure (Ralph): the Sumarian King of Uruk, who lived
sometime between the years 2750 and 2500 B.C. (Epic) The adventures of Gilgamesh were so
popular among the people of that era (the earliest written versions of the story dating to 2000 B.C.)
that after centuries of being told and retold, they soon became pure fiction. These fictional stories,
eventually becoming beliefs that people lived by, brings up one fundamental question that is still
debated by many scholars today; was the foundation for the teachings of the Old Testamentbased
on the mythical story of Gilgamesh? The content of the epic, and that of the Old Testament, seem
too similar to ignore. This paper will attempt to touch on the similarities between the two stories
regarding Noah and the flood, Adam, Eve, and eternal life, Samson and Delilah, embracing today
and not worrying about tomorrow, disobedience to the God s and forgiveness, and the word Bible.
First, a brief summary of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was a Sumerian king who ruled Uruk.
As a demi god (part god and part human), he is both strong and knowledgeable in all things. He
rules Uruk with an iron fist, working his men to the bone and having

How Fear Can Destroy An Individual
Incident at Vichy displays the powerful and compelling example of how fear can destroy an
individual. The play takes place in Vichy, France in 1942. The Vichy government is controlled
by the Germans, who have taken over power for the last two years. A group of men and a young
boy have been arrested and have found themselves in a depressing and empty building sitting on
a bench waiting. All of the men and young boy were stopped, while alone, on a street when
suddenly a car pulled up to them and detectives in street clothing accompanied by a Professor,
forced them to get into a car. The moment all the men are brought together on the bench without
an explanation given to them as to why they were arrested, their location corresponds to or
becomes relative to the guarded door down a long corridor. A couple of the many themes that this
play explores is the theme of humanity s behaviors towards one another and responsibility. How
does ones fear become clear or obvious? At what point are we able to make logical justifications
when face to face with fear? When confronted with an institutionalized system that takes away all of
your rights, would an individual or group of people realize the importance of other acts of prejudice
or discrimination? Would this injustice trigger one to act? Would this injustice trigger others who
are not affected to act? The destiny of these group of men are determined in a short amount of time.

Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien
C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien
i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female
passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the
protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to
return to stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out
of him. Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and
hold Kane down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways
then Ripley and Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but
eventually watch in horror as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to
Kane than Ripley so they have more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes
sense for him to rush towards a medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a
female character could have expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the
chestburster).
While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the
heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the
signal, defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s
actions as protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and

Analysis of Capital Market Efificiency and the Efficient...
Capital market efficiency is concerned with assessing the movements of security prices over
different time horizons. In this paper, I will briefly discuss capital market efficiency and then finish
with an extensive discussion of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), which is a leading theory
in explaining some of the major reasons for fluctuations in security prices. From this perspective,
we will examine the three forms of efficiency, supporting and opposing arguments of the EMH,
alternative theories, and potential modifications to the model.
Capital Market Efficiency
The subject of market efficiency is a rich one. Some contend that it is a subject with many
conflicting views about how financial markets react. Others contend that the ... Show more content

The answers to these questions are the building blocks of the EMH.
The Efficient Market Hypothesis
The EMH is a theory developed by Eugene Fama. The main premise of the theory is that, at any
moment, financial securities reflect all available information. The market implication for this belief
is that it s almost impossible to beat the market, based on information alone. In a paper titled, Stock
Market Price Behavior, Fama asserts that security prices are an accurate reflection of all available
information. He also labels markets that reflect all available information as efficient. In addition to
the labeling of financial markets as efficient, Fama also puts forth different degrees of efficiency.
Three forms of efficiency
The efficient market hypothesis exists in three forms, weak, semi strong, and strong form. The first
form is considered weak because it assumes the stock s price is a reflection of its historical
relevance, which includes accounting data (financial statements) and other publicly available
information. At this level, such information is considered immaterial in causing the price of a stock
to change. The second form is semi strong, and it s concerned with market adjustments. In other
words, how do the markets react to all available information? At this level, all accessible
information is assumed be reflected in the stock s price, which can range from historical to future
oriented information made available through public

Essay on Debate on the Legality of Human Cloning
Debate on the Legality of Human Cloning
Today, the topic of cloning creates more argument than it has ever created before. The argument
over cloning is based upon the fact that there are extreme opposing viewpoints on the subject. One
of the major arguments offered against human cloning is that it will undermine human
individuality. However, despite the popular opposition to human cloning, it is likely to remain an
issue.
Cloning is reproduction involving only one parent. Cloning occurs when a single cell from the
parent organism begins to divide and develop in such a way that a new organism is produced. This
new organism has exactly the same genetic make up as its parent and is usually ... Show more

However, human cloning will undermine human individuality. One of the key features of each
human being is that they represent a combination of genotype and interaction with the environment,
which is unique. Uniqueness is a major factor of our humanity. It is claimed that even `identical
twins , are not completely genetically similar. It has been suggested that undermining the
individuality or uniqueness of each human being may undermine respect for human life. This is
because human cloning could lead society to regard all people as being replaceable or
interchangeable.
It has also been argued that cloning would offer medical advantages, especially in situations where
transplants are required. People may have headless replicas of them cloned to supply them with
transplant organs to overcome the problems created by age and disease. It has been argued that
cloning human beings for the purpose of creating transplant tissue such as bone marrow or a kidney
demeans the person cloned for this purpose.
It took 277 attempts to produce the clone, Dolly the Sheep. Foetuses produced by cloning are ten
times more likely to die in the uterus than those produced through sexual means. Cloned offsprings
are three times more likely to die after birth than those produced by usual means. It these figures are

I believe that the Appalachian women were exhilarating and independent women, that should
have never been overlooked, just as it is displayed. I found this piece so interesting as Fisher dug
deeper into the women, making them appear more in depth. In the second appearance of My
Dearest Hazel, the sister is writing to Hazel, following up with her. At this point her sister has
observed that Hazel is pregnant and it is also now known to the readers that Hazel married
Turely. As her sister stated, I afeared that s what it was, Hazel, when I see you at the wedding,
looking so pale and peaked. Her sister explains her fear for Hazel and that most people are stuck
living in tents. Her fear is that she will end up living the same. Her sister states, You get ready,
honey / Cart all your canned goods up to Momma s, your quilts, / your pretty dishes them Baldwin
Felts / break things up when they put people out / and you will need / to hang onto whatever you
can (Fisher, 27).
The chance Turly not surviving from working in the coal mine, and the fear of marriage not
working with a child makes Hazel s sister concerned. She wants Hazel to cherish the things she
already has, before she loses then. I found this poem so intriguing as Hazel s pregnancy was not
something celebrated but something feared. Pregnancy is typically an exciting time for a woman,
but in this situation was something not recommended. The last poem in the

Definition Of Agency Theory Corporate Governance Essay
Study (Wilkes, 2004) defines good corporate governance is increasingly being seen as the
hallmark of a well run company . According to the definition of Agency Theory corporate
governance has an effect upon organization performance. In light of Agency Theory, a potential
governance problem is incorporated into the corporate framework as a result of the partition of
possession from control (Davis, Schoorman, Donaldson, 1997). Organization issues develop when
the firms managers with the obligation of speaking to the proprietors best advantages, seeks after
self enthusiasm rather that of the proprietor (Khongmalai, Tang, Siengthai, 2009). As indicated
(OECD, OECD Principles OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, 2004) and the Cadbury Report
(Cadbury Committee, 1992) , good organization performance a consequence of good corporate
governance. The firm through focusing on stakeholder consider moral since it deals with all
ingredients in a similar way, giving a decent amount of benefits and weights, privileges and
obligations to all stakeholders (Alkhafaji, 1989). The stakeholder approach to deal with corporate
governance is likewise financially productive while firms consider the attentions of and create trust
associations with providers, customers, representatives, and groups can develop upper hands,
which, thus, prompt to unrivaled corporate performance (Svendsen, 1998). Studies (Wahal, 1996;

Graham described Ahok s situation as the kind of persecution Christians in Muslim countries
experience. The Christian leader called for prayers not only for the Jakarta governor but also for
his family.
The blasphemy allegations against Ahok come as he is seeking re election as governor of Jakarta.
The Christian governor made headlines when he was accused of insulting Islam in September when
he told fishermen in the Thousand Islands that his opponents are lying by telling Muslims that the
Quran commands them not to vote for non Muslims.
Facebook user Buni Yani, who reportedly uploaded an edited video of Ahok s speech in Thousand
Islands, admitted that he misquoted the governor s speech. On Dec. 11, he faced police
investigators as a witness in the high profile blasphemy case, The Jakarta Globe reports.
The edited video that Yani uploaded was the one that sparked anger among hardline Muslims.
Ahok originally told the audience that they have been lied to by those who misquote the Quran.
However, Yani tweaked the video to make it appear that the Christian governor said the people
have been lied to by a certain verse in the Islamic holy

Teen Suicide Essays
Each year, thousands of children are dying, not from cancer, getting shot, or car accidents, but by
their own hands. They make the choice to take their lives; they commit suicide. To begin, what is
Suicide ? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, suicide is the act or instance of taking one
s own life voluntarily and intentionally. The number of teenagers who take their lives is rapidly
increasing each year. Teen suicideis escalating out of control and no one seems to realize just how
severe the issue has become. Every day and average of 18 young Americans end their lives, one
every 90 minutes. The National Institute of Mental Health believes that as many as 50 150 suicides

Sexual and physical abuse are also contributing causes to the teen suicide epidemic. From these
types of abuse usually depression and other psychological disorders form, making the risk of
these youth committing suicide very high. Family support is important as well, A Teen with an
adequate support network of friends, family, and religious affiliations, peer groups or
extracurricular activities may have an outlet to deal with everyday frustrations, but many teen s
don t believe they have that, and feel disconnected and isolated from family and friends. These
teens have an increased risk for suicide (kidsHealth.org). Additionally the issue of sexuality and
an unsupportive family or peer group is also detrimental to the teen s psyche and plays a major
role in teen suicide. Lastly, sudden trauma in a teen s life is very influential on a suicide
decision. The loss of a parent, sibling, or loved one can cause the teen to react by committing or
attempting suicide. Teenagers are more at risk because they are in a stage of growth in their
lives, and thus the depression or trauma can create a feeling of isolation in their mind. In most
cases there are ways to detect when a person is planning to commit suicide before they actually
carry it out. Teen suicide can be prevented when the warning signs are recognized early on. It is
stated in many studies that teen suicide attempts have been preceded by clear warning

The Four Gospels Of Matthew, Mark, And Luke
The canon brought the four gospels about, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (Evangelists) . These
four gospels paint a different picture of Christ and were written for different audiences. Matthew,
Mark and Luke are said to be very similar to each other. But, there is things which are common to
Matthew and Luke that aren t seen in Mark. Matthew and Luke used another source which Mark
didn t know about, the Q source. John s gospelis quite different to the other three. He is shown as
someone who is very close to Jesusand a very reliable eyewitness (John 19:35).
Matthew s gospel was written in 85 AD for the Jewish Christians who were living in Antioch,
Syria. The audience of Matthew s gospel had tension between the Gentiles, Jews and Jewish
Christians. The main theme relates to how Jesus is portrayed as a teacher due to the gospel
having five sermons (5 7). His gospel contains lots of parables and miracles which would aid him
in his teachings. The good news for the original audience in 1st century Palestine (the gospel) meant

Accountability Of The FDA Essay
The Accountability of the FDA in Protecting the American Citizenry
The United States of America is arguably the greatest country in the history of the world. With this
great global influence, one could assume the United States ensures the best for its citizens health
and prosperity, to be a role model for the rest of the world. However, you would be greatly
surprised. The United States is failing to take action against some of the major immoralities
committed by its own bureaucracies, which consistently cause detrimental harm to the well being
of the American public. A significant bureaucracy that is responsible for a great deal of harm to the

The answer lies within the simple economics of the situation. Monsanto and a few other biotech
companies make up an oligopoly within the agricultural market in the United States. Five large
companies Aventis, Dow Chemical, DuPont, Monsanto, and Syngenta now control a substantial
piece of the agricultural patent portfolio (Barton 43). With this market control comes great profit,
which then translates into influence over the FDA because if there is one thing the FDA actually
does care about, it s dollar signs. With total influence over the FDA established, Monsanto is able to
unleash patent after patent furthering the dominance of GMO s within agriculture.
When the FDA allows Monsanto to release excessive patents on their GMO seeds, they are
essentially creating a command economy because small farmers are unable to turn profits
without using the GMO seeds from Monsanto. The economic command is furthered, when the
FDA allows Monsanto to pass laws prohibiting farmers from replanting seeds from the GMO s
they harvest. Every year, farmers must re purchase new GMO seeds from Monsanto because
their patents have made it illegal to re use seeds. The former was only the economic and labeling
issues with Monsanto s use of GMO s. The average citizen is not aware of some of the health
dangers of ingesting certain GMO s.
GMO s contain inherent health risks such as digestion issues, increased allergic reactions, and
infertility. This should

imprisoned in Chillon s dungeon. He relived his father s persecution for his belief, in turn, leads
to his capture and death. He goes on about his three oldest brothers killed by being burned and

his second youngest brother as, He was a hunter of the hills, / Had followed there the deer and

could not handle being imprisoned, he longed for freedom, which in turn broke his spirit, heart,

After time passes, his father s beloved youngest son dies. He faded, and so calm and meek, / So
softly worn, so sweetly weak, / So tearless, yet so tender kind, (Lines 187 189). He is the only
survivor, and yet begins to give up on life. The prisoner reflects on his last youngest brother s

Everything You Need to Know about Stars
A star is a sparkling bundle of gas bound by gravity into a solitary object and is fueled by atomic
combination at the center. There are trillions of stars in our universe and all are distinctive and
extraordinary. Their mass, color, shape makes them all distinctive but mass is the only thing that
makes them unique. There are numerous phases of stars life including main sequencestars, red
giants, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and dark holes. All stars additionally have a lot of varieties in
each one phase of life. The life of a starstarts in a cloud, an incredible gathering of gas and dust.
When enough mass has aggregated into a solitary item, gravity compels the mass to crumple into
the middle. Because of weight and rubbing, the center gets so hot that it starts atomic combination
and a protostar is made.
HR Diagram
The age and the mass of stars enlighten everything concerning a stars physical properties and
situation into each of the classifications. The Hertzsprung Russell chart (HR Diagram) diagrams
stars glows over the stars phantom class. Radiance portrays how splendid the star is (I, II, III, IV,
V); ghastly class depicts its temperature (O, B, A, F, G, K, M). This chart is the most ideal
approach to classify stars.
Protostar
A protostar is structured in the beginnings of a star. The protostar s gravity is answerable for
making stars thick. As the gravity of the protostar builds so does the compression of mass. As the
thickness expanded so does the temperature. In

What Caused The Great Recession Of 2007 And 2009
Many factors directly lead and indirectly caused the great recession of 2007 and 2009. The
financial crisis happened because banks were able to create too much money to fast and used it to
increase house prices faster than wages. They increased the amount of money and debt in the
economy. Eventually, the debts became unpayable and the banks saw themselves in danger of
bankruptcy where people could not repay them and limited their spending. A downward spiral
begins and the economy heads into recession. Using the aggregate demand and aggregate supply
model you can see a decrease in aggregated demand, which causes a recession involving a decline
in price level. This caused less investment and consumer spending which then causes less demand

Brothers Grimm s Cinderella, By The Brothers Grimm
Brothers Grimm s fairy tale Cinderella is a story of a young girl s life under her harsh stepmother.
The young girl s mother passes away, and her rich father remarries a woman with two daughters.
They mistreat the young girl so much that she always looked so dusty and dirty that people called
her Cinderella(Grimm 117). One day, the father gets his daughters what they want: beautiful
dresses, pearls and jewels for his stepdaughters, and a branch from the hazel tree for Cinderella.
Cinderella plants the hazel spring on her mother s grave, where it grows into a beautiful tree after

While Shavit s argument about learning a lesson is true, the lesson Shavit offers is complicated
by close reading of the tale. Instead of adult reliance and obedience being fully celebrated, there
are times in the story where it is punished, and other times wherein independence is celebrated.
After all, Cinderella is able to achieve her happy ending because she chooses when and who she
listens to. She listens to her mother and up until a certain point, to her stepmother. She does not
blindly rely on adult figures, and is independent enough to pursue what she wants, bringing up
the notion of independence being allowed as long as there is desire. In contrast, her stepsisters
blindly follow their mother, going as fall as mutilating themselves, yet only receive further
punishment as their eyes are pecked out. This then depicts the relationship between adult and
child in Cinderella : although reliance and obedience is important, a child must not blindly
follow adult figures and should learn to be independent when to do either, on the other hand, is
something not clearly defined in the tale. The relationship between adult and child is not so clear
cut, as the notions of good, evil and desire complicate how a child should act. The ambiguity
between when to obey and rely on adults, and when to make your own choices indicates that at
times, the child has to make complex decisions. This is important to consider as it paints how
child readers view their own relationships with adults, possibly even empowering them as it
reveals that the child does not simply have to obey, but is allowed to have a choice in that

Perception Of Behavior And Misbehavior
When we talk about behavior in early childhood education; we have to learn or define the concept
of mistaken behavior and misbehavior. Misbehavior is the conventional term applied to conflicts
that the child is involved in, resulting in consequences that often include punishment and the
internalization of a negative label such as naughty . One example of misbehavior is when the child
do something wrong and the teacher put a label to the child like you are a bad boy and the child
felt really gilt. Although teacher who punish misbehavior believe they are shaming children into
good, the result may be the opposite. Mistaken behavioris error in judgment and action behaviors
occur at three levels: Experimentation, socially influenced, and strong unmet needs. For mistaken
behavior examples, the first one is experimentation at this age the child is really curious and they
want to see, touch even taste everything. When the child experiments something that they never
see they get really curious and if you say that they can take something they just grab it and
sometimes brake or loose. The example for the second one; Social influence is: when the
children are in the circle time and one of the child stars to laugh and jump and everybody start it
to do the same. Also, at these are the child is like a sponge sometimes they follow the behavior of
an adult or the teacher like a model. And for the last one Strong unmet needs, the child have a bad
behavior because is passing thought

Government cannot remove evil (Fischer, 2013 p. 2). They can only restrain evil through the
passage and enforcement of laws and regulations (Fischer, 2013 p. 2 3). Rules of Federalism
which apply to the different agencies in the federal and state governments along with local on
community groups working together would apply in the passage of this bill as it will take the
cooperation of several levels of government in order to implement it. The Bible speaks of
restorative justice (Acts 3:19 21, Romans 7:15) in the concept of having the ability to change the
inner person in realms of what is causing the bad behavior that led to sin and crime. The
government should help and have a say in passing reforms and laws that will be in agreement

Chose a character who might on the basis of the character s actions alone be considered evil or

In Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment, the character of Raskolnikov is one who may be

sympathy in the reader for the character due to his motives and personal, internal consequences he

Recently, there have been many articles relating to animals and their survival skills. Also, many
researchers have been focusing on the daily life of a species and how well they can cooperate with
both their neighbors and the wildlife surrounding them. Many have found that animals are much
smarter than they are thought to be. They have a lot of potential which most speciesuse to the fullest
of their ability. For example, Allegra Staples wrote an article explaining how some spiders have

that may come their way. Also, Meera Dolasia wrote about several naturalists that have decided to

especially if there is something people can do to help the species have living representatives. For
example, in the article Naturalists Begin Search For Extinct Tasmanian Tiger , Meera Dolasia puts
forth that the Tasmanian tiger has been known as extinct for over 20 years, yet many have reported
sights of them recently. This article mentions how the reason of the rapid decrease of the population
is a dangerous tumor that appears on the tiger, causing them to get a

The Passage Lesson For Women By Ban Zhao
The passage Lesson for Women is a work done by Ban Zhao that goes into detail on the proper
ways a lady should act. Not only does the author explain the ways but she also goes into detail to
help others understand what it s like for a woman of that time period. When writing the author
provides us with detailed sentences and a lot of informative material. Over the course of this essay
we will be breaking down the key elements of this passage to fully understand it.
The author of this passage, Ban Zhao, seemed to be very knowledgeable and influential to young
women. Since the setting takes place in Asia, I think that the author may have been influenced to
write this piece by other woman of her country. Taking clues from the style of writingI can infer
that this piece was written in a past since it uses words and phrases that seem dated. When looking
over this writing piece I can heavily agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think at the time the author may of tried to target an audience of young girls. Instead of writing a
story the author cuts right to the case and explains and goes into detail about how a woman should
act. The writer of this piece most likely wants you to take something from this and either learn
from it or apply it to your life. An audience that lived in that time period may read this with a
different mindset than someone of this era.
The passage Lesson for Women was a very informative and interesting work to read about. After
reading the piece multiple times I would definitely recommend this to someone willing to learn
about different eras. I think that close reading this piece was very important since it uncovered
many great things I never thought of glancing over in the beginning. If someone had the chance to
read this work and was hesitant I would definitely tell them to go ahead and read it since I enjoyed,

Coronary Heart Disease Research Paper
Coronary heart disease is one of the leading killers in America. I will later discuss why this is the
case, and how the choices of Americans will inflict the ultimate price of death. Aside from bad
decisions, the anatomy of where this disease takes place is fragile in regards to bodily
malfunctions. The reason it is called coronary heartdisease is because it takes place in the coronary
arteries. These arteries are what supplies the heart with oxygenated blood. So you can guess that if
something goes wrong with these arteries, it could be detrimental for the entire body because the
heart pumps blood to the whole body. The right and left coronary arteries branch from the aorta,
which is the main supplier of blood to the systemic circuit. The... Show more content on

Hypertension is medical terminology for high blood pressure. High blood pressure means there
is more force pushing blood through vessels, which means that the heart is being required to
work harder. There are multiple ways one can obtain high blood pressure. Some of these ways
are just poor life choices, but sometimes high blood pressure can be unavoidable, even with the
right healthy lifestyle choices. For example, a person can receive high blood pressure from
smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, stress, alcohol and so on. However, someone could have a
genetic predisposition for high blood pressure that makes it almost unavoidable (Gibbons et al.,
2016). One could also be diagnosed with coronary heart disease from too much blood sugar due
to diabetes, which can also be genetically unavoidable. Now knowing the possibilities of how one
could obtain this disease, I will proceed to discuss what happens in the process of the condition.
After the body has been pounded by something such as high blood pressure for several years,
vessels such as the coronary arteries will begin to build a hard plaque substance within its walls.
Accumulation of this plaque could lead the blood vessels to severely clog and possibly even
rupture. If one of these arteries rupture, the body will call upon platelets to form a blood clot and
stop the

How Mobile Phones Help Business
Due to the rapid advancement of technology such as pervasive or ubiquitous wireless and internet
networks, connective product marking technologies like RFID and emerging standards for the
use of these defining specific locations using global location numbers, the basic supply chain is
rapidly evolving into what is known as a Supply Chain Network. Since the mobile phone industry
is a vast and much spread one it needs to be really competitive among other brands. One single
mistake could lead to loose the whole market share
Supply chains and supply networks both describe the flow and movement of materials amp;

Either way, cell phone manufacturers and sellers aspire to create marketable products that hit sales
channels quickly
This reality is attributed to the very nature of cellular technology s evolution. From the beginning,
mobile handset manufacturers and wireless service providers were actively engaged in building and
installing infrastructure in emerging markets where land line communication was limited.
While they recognized the market demand for wireless technology, they also saw the economic
potential for outsourcing manufacturing in these areas. Now many of these companies are
offshoring product design and development activities in emerging markets such as China.
China has a highly skilled engineering workforce and labor is cheap. In addition, it is a
competitive market, explains Vande Vate. Cellular phone companies in China add more new users
in one month than some do in specific U.S. markets in one year.
U.S. headquartered Motorola, by example, currently employs 2,000 workers at 16 R amp;D
facilities across China.
The diverse mix of cell phones and mobile devices currently hitting retail channels places
considerable importance on how and where manufacturers perform final assemblage and
customization. This, in turn, places additional stress on the supply chain, and often leads
companies to seek third party assistance.
As evidence of this increasing complexity, the outsourced manufacturing and

The use of medical marijuana has both good and bad side; however legalizing medical marijuana
could aid in the relief of pain, people who are prescribed medical marijuana would not be

Most people don t want to legalize marijuana for religious reasons. Which is bogus. I am not a

No Shared Enthusiasm Summary
In the case No Shared Enthusiasm the protagonist (the daughter) starts off as the sender, wanting to
tell her mom about how nervous she was after her first shift as a nursing intern. At first the channel
of the conversation was through a phone call. As she called her mother (the receiver) the message
was about the daughter making crucial decisions on her own while the feedback of the conversation
was about the motherreinsuring the daughter that everything was going to be ok . At this point the
mother is now the sender of the message while the daughter is the receiver. After the daughter s
thirteen hour shift was over she attempted to call the mother but no answer. The channel changed
during this time as the mother texted the daughter about her grandmother being in an accident.
Because the channel changed from call to text, it changed the tone of the two s conversation, this
made the daughter jump to a conclusion that made her upset, not knowing that her grandmother

Disadvantages Of A Semi Structured Interview
Section 1: Methodological Considerations Question 1 One advantage of a semi structured interview
is that in the case of participants who tend to answer questions briefly, the interviewer can ask more
open ended questions and cater the structure of the interview for the participant. The interviewer
has a choice of which order to ask the questions in and how to ask them. For instance, in the
transcript for the interview, the interviewer is being provided with one sentence yes/no replies in
the beginning. Then, a few questions later, the interviewer asks a more detailed question that asks
the participant how they manage their diabetes and who helps them. This prompts a more detailed
response from the participant, who has now been asked to speak more freely about their experience
with diabetes. Furthermore, for semi structured interviews, the interviewers can follow what the
participants are saying and modify their questions accordingly. The interviewer can be prompted by
something the participant has said, and explore that prompt further in their proceeding questions.
For example, when the respondent states that they do their own finger prick blood test, the
interviewer then explores that deeper by asking follow up questions such as what equipment the
participant uses and the difference in their own materials versus the hospital s. Furthermore, in a
semi structured interview, the participant might bring up interesting points the interviewer had not
come across in their

Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing
In life, one must overcome their fears in order to achieve or successfully attain a certain goal in
their mind. The short story Through the Tunnel , by Doris Lessing tells us about how Jerry builds
confidence and maturity throughout the story, by overcoming his fear of going through the dark
and scary tunnel underneath the water. The author portrays the idea of overcoming one s fear to
achieve a goal through Jerry, who was once a childish and isolated character, had begun his risky
adventure of going through the tunnel to prove his worth to a group of boys and along the way
discovers what he truly wants. Over time he becomes more mature and in the end, gain self
acceptance.
Initially, our first thoughts of Jerry at the beginning of the story, is that he acts immature and is
burdened within a circle of maternal protection. During the opening of the story, the author conveys
Jerry s relative childishness by labeling him as the boy . The author also uses the mother to
demonstrate his youth and how he is trapped in a circle of maternal protection which leads us to
think that he is lonely due to that reason. In this part, His mother walks in front of him, carrying
a bright white strap in one hand tells us that because the mother was walking in front of him, it
gives us the impression that the mother still thinks of him as a boy that needs to be protected
from any potential harm. We see more of Jerry s immaturity and how the burden of protection
leads his actions as we go through the story. During the part where Jerry sees the group of boys
acting free spirited, we see that he is overcome with desire to be with them, probably because he
feels that because he is always in the circle of protection making him feel lonely and isolated from
everyone. At first, he is added into the group and begins to have fun jumping from the cliff into the
water with the other boys. Later on however, he starts to act immature when he realizes he could
not do the same thing the other boys were doing. That was, underwater for a long time and going
through the dark tunnel and he becomes scared. In this passage, ... In a panic of failure, he yelled
up, in English, Look at me! Look! and he began splashing and kicking the water like a

CSS clarifies website maintenance and allocates web developers and designers a page to manage,
making life easy for web masters to delete, manage and change an element anywhere from one
spot. There is easy control and making alterations when compared with HTML. The disadvantages
of CSS
1. CSS provides different directions in each browser. Programmers should consider and test all
codes across multiple browsers for compatibility before broadcasting any website or mobile
application live. 2. There are different levels to CSS: CSS; CSS 2; CSS 3. This is confusing for
developers and browsers. These levels use different languages and one is preferred.
3.JavaScript has few rules and easy to follow, interpreted programming language. It is one of the
simple and effective languages used to expand functionality in websites. Uses range from on
screen visual effects to processing and calculating data on web pages with alleviate as well as
extended functionality to websites using third party scripts among several other handy features. It
is designed for creating network centric applications. It is corresponding to and amalgamated with
Java. JavaScript is easy to implement because it is integrated with HTML.

John Cameron Mitchel and a friend of his, Stephen Trask, came together and created a band that
in and of itself would be a performance art piece. The duo wrote dialogue, music, and spoken
word poetry under the guise of this Hedwig creature and premiered these pieces in drag clubs in

Research Paper On Job Stress
There are almost three billion people in this world who are employed on different positions in
different organizations of the world. Their working conditions like environment, work load,
interconnectivity with coworkers etc are different but these employees faces one common issue
during their jobs that is Job Stress. Job Stress is perceived as a negative terminology which mostly
employees all around the world tend to avoid. Stress is one of the burning issues that
organizations have to deal so that employees can comfortably produce quality work. Stress causes
an imbalance in one s life because it leads to depression and thus damages health, attitude and
work behavior. Causes of stress are called stressors, which can be workplace conflict, role conflict,
role ambiguity and workload. In my research the main focus is on work load and interconnectivity
with coworkers. Stress has been defined in different ways over the years. Originally, it was
conceived as pressure from the environment, then as strain within the person. The generally
accepted definition today is one of the interactions between the situation and the individual. It is the

The proposal of this research is that we should understand the differences that under what
circumstances the employees tend to be positively affected by the job stress and also understand
the factors that impose negative effect on the job performance of the employees. After
understanding these differences the managers will be able to provide such conditions to their

Companies often divide up work as a way to improve efficiency, but specialization can lead to

costs relative to its competitors costs for years, but rising customer complaints suggest the firm s

The most frequent complaints Lee found in the customer surveys were about response time and
cost, especially when the wrong person was sent to a job. A plumbers assistant cannot complete a
more technically complicated job. The appointment has to be rescheduled, and the customer s time
and the staff s time have been wasted. The resulting delay often caused customers in these situations
to decline further contact with DrainFlow many of them decided to go with Lightning Plumber.
When I arrive at a job I can t take care of, says plumber s assistant Jim Larson, the customer gets
ticked off. They thought they were getting a licensed plumber, since they were calling for a
plumber. Telling them they have to have someone else come out doesn t go over well.
On the other hand, when a plumber responds to a job easily handled by a plumber s assistant, the
customer is still charged at the plumber s higher pay rate. Licensed plumber Luis Berger also
does not like being in the position of giving customers bad news. If I get called out to do
something like snake a drain, the customer isn t expecting a hefty bill. I m caught between a rock
and a hard place I don t set the rates or make the appointments, but I m the one who gets it from the
customer. Plumbers also resent being sent to do such simple work.
Susie McCarty is one of DrainFlow s order processors. She s frustrated too when the wrong person

As a clinical requirement for my Adult 1: Medical Surgical course, I had the opportunity to

needed this surgery because she was experiencing osteoarthritis, and this surgery could alleviate her

X rays can be used for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis; the images would reveal damage and other
changes related to osteoarthritis. With osteoarthritis of the knees, the patient would experience
progressively increasing pain, stiffness, and they would have a decrease in daily functions.
Patients experiencing these symptoms can be eligible for a total knee replacement. The surgical
procedure. A total knee replacement is a surgical procedure where the diseased knee joint is
completely replaced by artificial materials that resemble the original knee joint. The orthopedic
surgeon removed the end of the femur and the end of the tibia by using metal pieces and sawing
the bone, to ensure that he removes the right amount of bone. The end of the femur bone is
replaced with metal and the end of the tibia bone is replaced with plastic and metal. A plastic
piece was added under the patella because the surface under the patella was damaged as well.
These artificial materials, called prosthesis, have smooth surfaces so when they rub against each
other, it does not cause damage and is pain free. The purpose of this surgery is to remove the
diseased portions of the joint and replace it with artificial materials to prevent further deterioration
and eliminate pain, stiffness, and decreases in function that were caused by the osteoarthritis.
Preoperative and Operative Phase The surgical suite was clean, well lit, and very organized. All of

  • 3. Essay on Roman Persecution of Christians From the third to the fourth century, the Roman Empire witnessed a widespread attempt to stop the spread of Christianity. Initially, leaders of the church were predominately targeted, but later anyone admitting to Christianity became a target. The persecutions hit a climax during Diocletian s reign. These persecutions actually helped the spread of Christianityby glorifying Christians and beginning a tradition of martyrdom that shaped the Church, and the strength that Christians displayed shows that the persecutions could not have possible stopped the spread of Christianity. In the first half of the third century, Christian persecution was fragmented and while Christianity was illegal, there is not evidence that it was widely persecuted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also persisted throughout the fourth century. Often, enforcement of persecution laws was really left up to local officials. There are reports of terrible and unrelenting persecution in some areas, while there are no reports at all in others. Additionally, issues at the border throughout this time often plagued emperors, so it was impossible to ensure that their edicts were universally carried out. As a result, the empire simply was not equipped to completely halt the spread of Christianity. Because Christianity could not be completely purged by the Empire, it created an opportunity for Christians to display how strongly they were devoted to the religion. The way in which they responded made all the difference. Under pressure, they would not submit, and this was proof of the force and influence of Christianity. During the persecutions, churches and scripture were destroyed. Many were killed and tortured. Despite this, many remained brave and unafraid according to accounts. The idea of redemption and a magnificent afterlife led many Christians to almost fervently pursue martyrdom. These martyrs were glorified, and miracles were reported to have occurred in their presence. They refused to reject Christ and, in turn, were subjected to torture and humiliation. Eusebius describes the proceedings during the Great Persecution: ...the rules in question brought a certain man into a public place and commanded him to sacrifice. When he refused, ... • 5. Persuasive Essay On Deforestation Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen. One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate. When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will be released back into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way, the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the privilege of being able to drive at such an early age. Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own. Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control, and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this, teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re getting their permits and licenses. A 2005 study by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development found that, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Jane Mysten s Literary Characters Of Jane Austen Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in the rural village of Steventon, England as the seventh of eight children to Reverend George and Cassandra Austen. Her father, Rev. George Austen of the Steventon Anglican parish, was an educated member of the clergy and the descendant of a family in the business of wool manufacturing. Cassandra, Austen s mother, was a scion of great social status, whose ancestors founded St. John s College at Oxford. Although they were people of modest means, the Austen family was socially well connected, and was considered to be one among several of the local elite families due to George s status in the church. The Austen children grew up extremely close to one another. In particular, Jane was extremely close to her only sister Cassandra, who was two years her senior. A classic Austen family story by the two girls mother included the line that if Cassandra were to have her head chopped off, Jane would demand that privilege too (Concise Dictionary of British Literary Biography 3). Growing up, the two girls were roommates and best friends. Many scholars and historians conclude that Austen s literary themes between sisters in her novels parallel her own relationship with her sister Cassandra. At the age of seven, Jane and her sister Cassandra left to attend Mrs. Cawley s boarding school in Oxford. On a trip that the girls took with Mrs. Cawley to Southampton, Mrs. Cawley, and the girls became extremely ill from typhoid fever. Jane and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Daily Show pronounces itself as a fake news program, and it pulls its comedy and satire from current news reports, politicians, media companies, and often, features of the show itself. The show usually begins with an extended monologue from host, Jon Stewart, communicating new headlines and regularly includes discussions with several correspondents, who assume ridiculous or amusingly overstated takes on recent events against Stewart s straightforward character. The concluding segment contains a celebrity interview, with guests varying from authors and political figures to actors and musicians. Newscasters current view of balance is to report both sides of an issue, despite the consequences. Straightforward news has descended into a wacky belief that replaces balance for accuracy and truth. Virtually every matter can be described as a debate between two conflicting sides, and the journalist is apprehensive of expressing that one side has it right, and the other side does not. It leaves the audience in the position of having to consider opposing factual assertions, often without enough info to properly choose that one side is clearly right, and the other side is striving to create doubt with propaganda. Interpretation An interpretation of the show reflects that many viewers consider Stewart a reputable, true journalist who provides a genuine take on current events. Many watchers obtain their news and opinions from his show. Comparing the show s news outline with that of the more conventional news media and investigating the listing of guests and segments, then placing the program into some kind of media framework shows the structures are quite similar. This leads to the audience giving credibility to the show as an authentic source for news. There are questions raised on how Stewart achieves this. The years of 1945 55 saw limited progress in improving the status of African Americans to an extent; however, during this time period there was also an increased amount of progress for the African American community in improving their status. There were many key factors, which contributed to improving the status of African Americans, such as the work of key civil right parties, for instance the NAACP and their approach to increase grass roots activism, and their increased membership shows their wide support. In addition, the impact of the American Economy played a huge role; in improving the status of African Americans as by 1945 the number of unemployed African Americans in the north fell sharply from 937,000, to 151,000. This is evident for an increase in better standards of living, this is supported by the fact that 40per cent of housing in Washington was found to be sub standard. As a result of these factors, it showed that there was some economic and political progress during 1945 to 1955. Furthermore, during this time period, there was numerous court cases against Jim Crow laws and segregation, which resulted in a substantial amount of de jure change, in favour of the African Americans. For instance, in 1950 there was the case of Sweatt v. Painter; Heman Sweatt was refused admission to the University of Texas Law School. The case was brought to the Supreme Court, and they ruled that Heman Sweatt was allowed to study law at the Texas College, as the black college had significantly worst facilities. • 12. The Myth Of Epic Of Gilgamesh Sam Khidir History 10 Professor Chrissanthos 4 October, 2016 From Myth to Religion The Sumerian myth Epic of Gilgamesh is known to be the oldest written fictional story of all time. The original script, discovered on 12 clay tablets in ancient Sumeria, covers the adventures of a real historical figure (Ralph): the Sumarian King of Uruk, who lived sometime between the years 2750 and 2500 B.C. (Epic) The adventures of Gilgamesh were so popular among the people of that era (the earliest written versions of the story dating to 2000 B.C.) that after centuries of being told and retold, they soon became pure fiction. These fictional stories, eventually becoming beliefs that people lived by, brings up one fundamental question that is still debated by many scholars today; was the foundation for the teachings of the Old Testamentbased on the mythical story of Gilgamesh? The content of the epic, and that of the Old Testament, seem too similar to ignore. This paper will attempt to touch on the similarities between the two stories regarding Noah and the flood, Adam, Eve, and eternal life, Samson and Delilah, embracing today and not worrying about tomorrow, disobedience to the God s and forgiveness, and the word Bible. First, a brief summary of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was a Sumerian king who ruled Uruk. As a demi god (part god and part human), he is both strong and knowledgeable in all things. • 13. How Fear Can Destroy An Individual Incident at Vichy displays the powerful and compelling example of how fear can destroy an individual. The play takes place in Vichy, France in 1942. The Vichy government is controlled by the Germans, who have taken over power for the last two years. A group of men and a young boy have been arrested and have found themselves in a depressing and empty building sitting on a bench waiting. All of the men and young boy were stopped, while alone, on a street when suddenly a car pulled up to them and detectives in street clothing accompanied by a Professor, forced them to get into a car. The moment all the men are brought together on the bench without an explanation given to them as to why they were arrested, their location corresponds to or becomes relative to the guarded door down a long corridor. A couple of the many themes that this play explores is the theme of humanity s behaviors towards one another and responsibility. How does ones fear become clear or obvious? At what point are we able to make logical justifications when face to face with fear? When confronted with an institutionalized system that takes away all of your rights, would an individual or group of people realize the importance of other acts of prejudice or discrimination? Would this injustice trigger one to act? Would this injustice trigger others who are not affected to act? The destiny of these group of men are determined in a short amount of time. • 14. Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to return to stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out of him. Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and hold Kane down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways then Ripley and Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but eventually watch in horror as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to Kane than Ripley so they have more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes sense for him to rush towards a medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a female character could have expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the chestburster). While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the signal, defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s actions as protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper, I will briefly discuss capital market efficiency and then finish with an extensive discussion of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), which is a leading theory in explaining some of the major reasons for fluctuations in security prices. From this perspective, we will examine the three forms of efficiency, supporting and opposing arguments of the EMH, alternative theories, and potential modifications to the model. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The answers to these questions are the building blocks of the EMH. The Efficient Market Hypothesis The EMH is a theory developed by Eugene Fama. The main premise of the theory is that, at any moment, financial securities reflect all available information. The market implication for this belief is that it s almost impossible to beat the market, based on information alone. In a paper titled, Stock Market Price Behavior, Fama asserts that security prices are an accurate reflection of all available information. He also labels markets that reflect all available information as efficient. In addition to the labeling of financial markets as efficient, Fama also puts forth different degrees of efficiency. Three forms of efficiency The efficient market hypothesis exists in three forms, weak, semi strong, and strong form. The first form is considered weak because it assumes the stock s price is a reflection of its historical relevance, which includes accounting data (financial statements) and other publicly available information. At this level, such information is considered immaterial in causing the price of a stock to change. The second form is semi strong, and it s concerned with market adjustments. In other words, how do the markets react to all available information? At this level, all accessible information is assumed be reflected in the stock s price, which can range from historical to future oriented information made available through public ... The argument over cloning is based upon the fact that there are extreme opposing viewpoints on the subject. One of the major arguments offered against human cloning is that it will undermine human individuality. However, despite the popular opposition to human cloning, it is likely to remain an issue. It has been suggested that undermining the individuality or uniqueness of each human being may undermine respect for human life. This is because human cloning could lead society to regard all people as being replaceable or interchangeable. It has also been argued that cloning would offer medical advantages, especially in situations where transplants are required. People may have headless replicas of them cloned to supply them with transplant organs to overcome the problems created by age and disease. It has been argued that cloning human beings for the purpose of creating transplant tissue such as bone marrow or a kidney demeans the person cloned for this purpose. It took 277 attempts to produce the clone, Dolly the Sheep. Foetuses produced by cloning are ten times more likely to die in the uterus than those produced through sexual means. According to the definition of Agency Theory corporate governance has an effect upon organization performance. • 33. What Caused The Great Recession Of 2007 And 2009 Many factors directly lead and indirectly caused the great recession of 2007 and 2009. The financial crisis happened because banks were able to create too much money to fast and used it to increase house prices faster than wages. They increased the amount of money and debt in the economy. Eventually, the debts became unpayable and the banks saw themselves in danger of bankruptcy where people could not repay them and limited their spending. A downward spiral begins and the economy heads into recession. Using the aggregate demand and aggregate supply model you can see a decrease in aggregated demand, which causes a recession involving a decline in price level. The young girl s mother passes away, and her rich father remarries a woman with two daughters. They mistreat the young girl so much that she always looked so dusty and dirty that people called her Cinderella(Grimm 117). One day, the father gets his daughters what they want: beautiful dresses, pearls and jewels for his stepdaughters, and a branch from the hazel tree for Cinderella. While Shavit s argument about learning a lesson is true, the lesson Shavit offers is complicated by close reading of the tale. Instead of adult reliance and obedience being fully celebrated, there are times in the story where it is punished, and other times wherein independence is celebrated. After all, Cinderella is able to achieve her happy ending because she chooses when and who she listens to. She listens to her mother and up until a certain point, to her stepmother. She does not blindly rely on adult figures, and is independent enough to pursue what she wants, bringing up the notion of independence being allowed as long as there is desire. In contrast, her stepsisters blindly follow their mother, going as fall as mutilating themselves, yet only receive further punishment as their eyes are pecked out. This then depicts the relationship between adult and child in Cinderella : although reliance and obedience is important, a child must not blindly follow adult figures and should learn to be independent when to do either, on the other hand, is something not clearly defined in the tale. The relationship between adult and child is not so clear cut, as the notions of good, evil and desire complicate how a child should act. The ambiguity between when to obey and rely on adults, and when to make your own choices indicates that at times, the child has to make complex decisions. This is important to consider as it paints how child readers view their own relationships with adults, possibly even empowering them as it reveals that the child does not simply have to obey, but is allowed to have a choice in that ... • 36. Perception Of Behavior And Misbehavior When we talk about behavior in early childhood education; we have to learn or define the concept of mistaken behavior and misbehavior. Misbehavior is the conventional term applied to conflicts that the child is involved in, resulting in consequences that often include punishment and the internalization of a negative label such as naughty . One example of misbehavior is when the child do something wrong and the teacher put a label to the child like you are a bad boy and the child felt really gilt. Although teacher who punish misbehavior believe they are shaming children into good, the result may be the opposite. Mistaken behavioris error in judgment and action behaviors occur at three levels: Experimentation, socially influenced, and strong unmet needs. For mistaken behavior examples, the first one is experimentation at this age the child is really curious and they want to see, touch even taste everything. When the child experiments something that they never see they get really curious and if you say that they can take something they just grab it and sometimes brake or loose. The example for the second one; Social influence is: when the children are in the circle time and one of the child stars to laugh and jump and everybody start it to do the same. There are multiple ways one can obtain high blood pressure. Some of these ways are just poor life choices, but sometimes high blood pressure can be unavoidable, even with the right healthy lifestyle choices. For example, a person can receive high blood pressure from smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, stress, alcohol and so on. However, someone could have a genetic predisposition for high blood pressure that makes it almost unavoidable (Gibbons et al., 2016). Now knowing the possibilities of how one could obtain this disease, I will proceed to discuss what happens in the process of the condition. After the body has been pounded by something such as high blood pressure for several years, vessels such as the coronary arteries will begin to build a hard plaque substance within its walls. While they recognized the market demand for wireless technology, they also saw the economic potential for outsourcing manufacturing in these areas. Now many of these companies are offshoring product design and development activities in emerging markets such as China. China has a highly skilled engineering workforce and labor is cheap. Disadvantages Of A Semi Structured Interview Section 1: Methodological Considerations Question 1 One advantage of a semi structured interview is that in the case of participants who tend to answer questions briefly, the interviewer can ask more open ended questions and cater the structure of the interview for the participant. For instance, in the transcript for the interview, the interviewer is being provided with one sentence yes/no replies in the beginning. Then, a few questions later, the interviewer asks a more detailed question that asks the participant how they manage their diabetes and who helps them. This prompts a more detailed response from the participant, who has now been asked to speak more freely about their experience with diabetes. Furthermore, for semi structured interviews, the interviewers can follow what the participants are saying and modify their questions accordingly. The interviewer can be prompted by something the participant has said, and explore that prompt further in their proceeding questions. For example, when the respondent states that they do their own finger prick blood test, the interviewer then explores that deeper by asking follow up questions such as what equipment the participant uses and the difference in their own materials versus the hospital s. The short story Through the Tunnel , by Doris Lessing tells us about how Jerry builds confidence and maturity throughout the story, by overcoming his fear of going through the dark and scary tunnel underneath the water. The author portrays the idea of overcoming one s fear to achieve a goal through Jerry, who was once a childish and isolated character, had begun his risky adventure of going through the tunnel to prove his worth to a group of boys and along the way discovers what he truly wants. Over time he becomes more mature and in the end, gain self acceptance. Initially, our first thoughts of Jerry at the beginning of the story, is that he acts immature and is burdened within a circle of maternal protection. During the opening of the story, the author conveys Jerry s relative childishness by labeling him as the boy . The author also uses the mother to demonstrate his youth and how he is trapped in a circle of maternal protection which leads us to think that he is lonely due to that reason. In this part, His mother walks in front of him, carrying a bright white strap in one hand tells us that because the mother was walking in front of him, it gives us the impression that the mother still thinks of him as a boy that needs to be protected from any potential harm. We see more of Jerry s immaturity and how the burden of protection leads his actions as we go through the story. During the part where Jerry sees the group of boys acting free spirited, we see that he is overcome with desire to be with them, probably because he feels that because he is always in the circle of protection making him feel lonely and isolated from everyone. At first, he is added into the group and begins to have fun jumping from the cliff into the water with the other boys. Later on however, he starts to act immature when he realizes he could not do the same thing the other boys were doing.
