The Portrait Of Marie Antoinette
The artwork I decided to do my research and write about is the portrait of Marie Antoinette with
her Children. I found this portrait very interested in me; I am going to give you a brief
information on the artist of the artwork. This portrait was by Elisabeth Louise Vigee Lerun and the
portrait is oil on canvas, 9 ВЅ x 7 5/8 . The portrait was created in 1700 in France. It s a portrait of a
French queen who is Marie Antoinettealong with her children as a good mother to her children,
but there is no sign of the father in the portrait. The portrait is a loving mother of four children,
but only three are shown in the portrait because of the children deceased. Also I see the portrait
of a single mother who is a loving mother who love her children daily and have a space of
emptiness because of the loss of her child who processed into his death at 11 months old.
The artist of the portrait is Elisabeth Vigee Lebrun. She was born in Paris on April 16, 1755. She
was the daughter of Louis Vigee who was a pastel painter of moderate talent and devoted to his
artwork. When Elisabeth turned eleven her education was considered complete, she then left
school for good to return home to her parents and to pursue her dream as a painter like her father.
While back at home with her parents, she spend many of her hours in her father s studio
experimenting to her heart s content with his crayons, and dutifully accompanied her mother, who,
we are told, was good to the point of austerity,

Deming, on the other hand, had a system he established using a fourteen point formula which
recognized the purpose toward improvement, leadership, and training, as well as taking actions to
ensure a successful process improvement.
Standards of Performance Crosby s performance standard consisted of having a zero defect
approach, which meant everyone involved (supplier and customer included) must understand.
Crosby defined zero defect as not being a literal zero defect (as that is not always possible), but
rather producing goods or services within agreed upon tolerances and requirements for quality
and costs. Juran had a four step formula when it came to performance standards: establish goals
to be reached, establish plans for these goals, meet the goals, and rewards based on results
achieved. Deming had a process called the Deming Wheel, which was an adaptation of the PDCA
(Plan, Do, Check, and Act) Problem Solving Cycle. To break it down, Plan involved designing
components to improve results, Do employed the plan, Check evaluated the measurements, and Act
made decisions based on the changes needed to improve the process.
Quality Measurements Juran s perspective on quality was based on five general measures, the
measures being the cost of poor quality, defects, product/process features, customer needs, and
customer behavior. Deming s measurements were based on the Kaizen approach, which involved
the evaluation of each operation

Analyzing Fiction Book The Brave
Fiction books have helped me know why people are so worried about bullying. I have read a book
called The Brave when I was in eleventh grade for a free read that showed me how common and
serous bullying can be. It has also showed me that our generation needs to learn to have respect for
each other in and outside of school so bullyingwill start to go away. In books that I have read in
school in the past that dealt with bullying were far worse than what people consider bullying
today. In most cases the bullying is on a very serious level in books now a days and could cause the
victima lot of physical, mental, and emotional harm from what the characters say and do. Bullying
inside and outside of school is very serious in this generation both

Las Vegas Case Study
Overview of Las Vegas amp; LVCVA
Most people might not even think of Las Vegas as a product , or even they think of it as a brand.
Places are included in the concept of product. Places could be cities, states, regions, or entire
nations. Place marketing involves marketing strategies which contribute to create, maintain and
change attitudes and behavior towards particular places. Behind the scenes, the image of Las
Vegas is created and maintained by LVCVA, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
LVCVA is a private public agency with the mission statement of To attract visitors by promoting

It is the experiences that travelers gain while they are travelling. LVCVA understands that they are
not just selling Las Vegas; they are selling the Las Vegas Experience the adult freedom. By talking
to their old and potential customers, they learned the core customer value. The Vegas visitors want
to feel a little naughtier and less inhibited and that is what their customers are buying. To
accommodate the benefits the customers are seeking, the actual services and products are provided
to the satisfaction of the visitors. Various product features of Las Vegas were produced to target the
adult such as casinos, luxury retailers, world renowned restaurants and five star hotels. Branding is
another strategy LVCVA used to deliver the core customer value. By spending $75 million for ad
campaigns, LVCVA successfully boosted the brand message educating consumers of the products
Vegas are selling. Only Vegas: What happens here, stay here became the now familiar catchphrase
of Las Vegas. This image has replaced the long pervasive image of Sin City to a luxury and
indulgent image. Although this image has been adjusted to affordable and well deserved during the
recession, but the Las Vegas Experience brand image still maintains a consistent meaning to
consumers. As research indicated, people still demand the same Vegas they ve known and loved
will still be there during hard economic times. This proves the strength of the Vegas brand image

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and the Student
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common obstacles that some
students face in the process of learning. ADHD is often confused with Attention Deficit Disorder
(ADD). It is very important to understand the difference between ADHD and ADD. It is also very
important to understand the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD, as well as the causes
and treatments available. After a complete understanding of the basics of ADHD, a closer look at
the education system is essential. The education of children relies on the teacher s knowledge of
ADHD, as well as parent student teacher relationships. There are also some important teaching tips

According the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM4),
children must have at least six out of nine listed criteria in order to be diagnosed with ADHD.
Some examples of these criteria includes, but is not limited to, paying little attention to detail, lack
of organization, forgetfulness, easily distracted, impatience, talkative, and fidgety ( Teaching ,
1998, Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
Diagnosing ADHD can be a difficult task because of the variance of symptoms and behaviors. What
often makes an attention deficit so complex is that two thirds of student with a disorder have at least
one other coexisting condition such as learning disabilities, anxiety, or depression (Zeigler
Dendy, 2000, p1). One key identifier is a two to four year lag of age appropriate developmental
skills (Zeigler Dendy, 2002, p3). Other symptoms and behaviors that may be an indicator of ADHD
include disorganization, forgetfulness, impaired sense of time, variability in school work, sleep
disturbances, inability to learn from either punishment or rewards, and also the inability to adapt
easily to change (Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
A few facts to be aware of involve the heredity of ADHD, and the difference in behaviors between
boys and girls. Forty to fifty percent of children with ADHD have at least one parent who has been
diagnosed with ADHD, and

Ophelia In Hamlet Essay
Polonius, Ophelia s father, embodies the theories the Other and a lack of female agency while
discussing with Ophelia a similar case to her brother. In act 1 scene 3 of Hamlet, Polonius
decides to inform Ophelia of the same matters that Laertes provides her. While Ophelia is
departing from sending off her brother, Polonius asks Ophelia what her and her brother were
discussing, resulting in her receiving unsolicited advice from her father on how to handle
Hamlet s sexual and romantic advances. Polonius states, Tender yourself more dearly / Or ...
/ you ll tender me a fool. (1.3.107 109). What he is stating here is that if Ophelia does not respect
herself and succumbs to Hamlet s lustful actions, Polonius will be painted as a fool. Similar to
Laertes disccusion, Polonius s comment to Ophelia marks the notion that Ophelia cannot be
respected if she operates in sexual endeavors. This idea represents Balizet s notion that women s
sexuality is a patriarchal standard and also represents de Beauvoir s notion that a womanis not
sexual unless with a man. However, there is a deeper standard that is portrayed by Polonius that
is a necessity to address. In the quote provided above, Polonius discusses that his respect will be
lost as well if Ophelia acts on lust because he is her father. This form of selfishness that is
represented within Polonius s speech supports de Beauvoir s theory that women are thought of to
be as the Other of men. Polonius s anxiety of loss of respect for himself

Hedda Gabler
The play Hedda Gabler, written by Henrik Ibsen, discusses the journey of the protagonist Hedda
Tesman, formerly known as Hedda Gabler, in her descent to suicide. The story leads her to feel
entrapped by a misery that surrounds her life and leads her to feel that death is her only escape.
While a traditional reading of the play is that Hedda is a victim of society, a modern interpretation
is that Hedda is much more a victim of herself: her dislike of motherhood, her self insecurities and
her flirtatious behaviour, with the constrictive time period and setting only accentuating these
faults. Overall Ibsen aims to show the audience the difficulties that face those in society who fail to
fit into social roles and expectations, discussing whether... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst women of this era were expected to raise children, Hedda demonstrates an inability to
sustain such maternal feelings, causing her to view herself as separated from society. This is
illustrated in Ibsen s use of diction in the title, naming the play Hedda Gabler rather than Hedda
Tesman to suggest that Hedda is unable to conform to such traditional customs as taking her
husband s name. This is perpetuated through Tesman s constant hints at pregnancy. In this, it is
shown how Tesman believes Hedda to be pregnant, saying how Hedda has filled out on the
journey . Ibsen s use of metaphor in Tesman s comment emphasises how, at even the suggestion
of pregnancy, Hedda becomes derisive, as she replies Oh, do be quiet ! Likewise, Ibsen uses the
foil of Miss Tesman to emphasise Hedda s isolation. Miss Tesman is seen to be excited at the
suggestion of Hedda s perceived pregnancy, highlighting the unusual nature of Hedda s
displeasure. Her dislike of the prospect of motherhood causes Hedda to experience a sense of
isolation and exclusion from those around her. This societal isolation is presented to the audience
through Ibsen s use of physical description. Mrs. Elvsted s hair, being described as unusually
abundant becomes symbolic of one s ability to fit into society. She is characterised as beautiful ,
stupid and an ideal women of the period. In comparison, Hedda s hair, described as not particularly
abundant , illustrates her inability to conform. Yet it can be seen that Hedda hopes to conform to
society and thus suggesting that her anguish is as a result of her separation from society, a situation
that can be attributed to her character faults, rather than the constraints of society itself. This is
demonstrated through Ibsen s use of backstory which illustrates Hedda s life long obsession with

Teenagers On After-school Jobs Essays
Almost every teenager wants a job, yet many people are against it. I believe teenagers should
have after school jobs for a number of reasons. First, having a son or a daughter that works can
financially help the parents. Also, the experience the teenager will acquire from after school jobs
will help him or her on future jobs. Finally, teenagers should have after school jobs because it will
keep them away from trouble. Parents should realize that as long as their son or daughter wants an
after school job and it does not affect his or her performance at school, they should let their child
have one.
Usually, families that have financial problems have their teenage children go to work. Having an
extra family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By having a job a teenager can save up for college, to buy a car, to buy a stereo, etc. Teenagers feel
free when they have a job: they can spend their own money on whatever they want without feeling
guilty. In addition to helping his family, having a job at an early age can help for future jobs.
When many people apply for an important job, the employer will most likely choose the person
who has the most working experience. People who have had a job since their teenage years will
know how to deal with the stress and the work better than new people. They will be able to cope
with job related problems. This reason is very significant for teenagers who choose not to go to
college, and their only reason for getting employed is experience. Yet, the most important reason is
that jobs keep teenagers away from violence.
Jobs are very time consuming. If a teenager works and goes to school, he will probably not have
time to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more employees are getting drug tested
at their jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will not do drugs because he will get
fired. Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend his earned money instead of
stealing. A job can lead a teenager to a better lifestyle and a healthier life.
I think teenagers should have after school jobs.

The Wanderings Of Odysseus And The Odyssey And The Odyssey
In Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes and in The Wanderings
of Odysseus from The Odyssey the epic poem by Homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald, Jason
and Odysseus display the following similar traits throughout their adventures: selfishness,
dishonesty, and delegate. Throughout Jasonand Odysseus adventures, they both showed a great
amount of selfishness. Selfishness is the act of being selfish, lacking consideration for others. On
Jason s quest to finding the Golden Fleece, the author mentions, ...he thought of ambition only,
never of love or of gratitude (Hamilton 133). During the long quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason
was only focused on being successful, not much different from Odysseus. While on Odysseus
voyage there had been fierce cannibals who bombarded the fleet of ships with boulders.
Selfishness played apart of this misdemeanor because Odysseus didn t seem to care to help out
the rest of his crew, Only Odysseus, his ship, and its crew of 45 survive the shower of boulders.
The lone ship then sails to Aeaea, home of the goddess Circe, who is considered by many to be a
witch (Fitzgerald 1224). Both scenarios from Hamilton s book and Fitzgerald s book are very
similar. The main characters both seem like they only care about themselves being successful and
they don t fully put thought into their mentor s health. Mentors are the people who have intentions
to helping out. The mentor in The Mythology would be Medea and in The Odyssey, it would have
been his crew, who did not survive on the other ships. They may have not been aware that they
were being selfish because they were busy having their mind set on having to stay alive and
complete the duty. In effect of having their minds only set on getting the job done, all three of these
characteristics have played a part of it.
A great amount of dishonesty had played a part on the way of Jason and Odysseus adventures. In
Edith Hamilton s book, Jason showed dishonesty by taking all the glory when many people
helped along the way, All that she did evil and of good was done for him alone, and in the end, all
the reward she got was that he turned traitor to her (Hamilton 133). Jason wasn t very honest to

Essay on What Is Really Behind Advertisement
Many people are in the debate whether companies use persuasion or manipulation in their
advertisements to get people to buy a certain product. In the Innocent ones advertisement the
Stop the Abuse organization shows a picture of a sad, abused little boy. The advertisement only
shows half of his face, but the color in his face has been lightened so it has a gray tint. To the
right, where the other half of his face should be, there is a stop sign. The stop sign is bright red,

And then there are some people who look at it and their heart will break and they will donate
immediately. The picture can only be counted as unfair if it invoked the same emotion in everyone
no matter who viewed it. Another reason the advertisement is not manipulative is because even
though the way the advertisement was structured was skillful, it was more on the creative side.
The creativity is shown by the content of the advertisement. With the use of a stop sign to replace
half of a child s face, big bolded words, color scheme, and half of a child s face the company used
creativity in designing the advertisement. The only skill that was used was the structure of the
advertisement. With the child s face to the left, the stop sign to the right, and the bolded words
underneath the stop sign it made the advertisement very easy to follow. However, that was the only
skill used in the advertisement which is why it was more creative than skillful. The advertisement
that the Stop The Abuse organization has recently came out with is persuasive and not
manipulative because even though the advertisement is sad and may touch the emotions of some
people, the fact of the matter is that it is only an advertisement and it is strictly the person s, who is
watching the advertisement, choice on whether to donate to the advertisement. The whole purpose
of why the organization used the advertisement is in an attempt

Cat s Eye By Margaret Attwood
In the book Cat s Eye by Margaret Attwood, Elaine s identity and her perceived sense of self is
unique. The positive and negative experiences in her life have helped shape it. My own life
experiences have also shaped me into the person I am today. Our childhoods and our nurturing
during this crucial timehas a powerful impact on what kind of individuals we turn out to be.
Elaine s experiences as a child had a large impact on the development of her identity. Before
moving to Toronto, Elaine was very content with her life, even though she had a few friends. She
was happy, until we moved to Toronto (Atwood 27). Elaine s difficulty of socializing with others
is with her childhood experience. Elaine retells that she was put into the hole [as] it was a
game; now I know it is not one. I feel sadness, a sense of betrayal. Then I feel the darkness
pressing down on me; then terror (Atwood 143). Her innocence was taken for granted from her
friends . She believed that Cordelia, Grace, and Carol were going to help her become one of them.
Instead of telling an adult figure what has happened she copes, and eventually it destroyed her self
esteem. All of these experiences are the defining moments of Elaine s life. These have all
contributed to the development of Elaine s identity and personality. My experiences and
relationships during my childhood have also developed identity as a young adult.
My childhood experiences have also had an impact on my identity. Like Elaine, I

The Trial and Death of Socrates Essay
The portrayal of Socrates, through the book the trial and death of Socrates is one that has created a
fairly controversial character in Western history. In many ways, Socrates changed the idea of
common philosophy in ancient Greece; he transformed their view on philosophy from a study of
why the way things are, into a consideration man. Specifically, he analyzed the virtueand health of
the human soul. Along side commending Socratesfor his strong beliefs, and having the courage to
stand by those convictions, Socrates can be commended for many other desirable characteristics.
Some of those can include being the first martyr to die for his philosophical beliefs and having the

The apology is an account of the speech that Socrates makes during his trial. In Socrates trial, he
is being accused of not recognizing the same gods that the others in Athens recognize
(specifically that those in authority). Instead, Socrates is charged with inventing new gods, and
in doing so is corrupting the youth of Athens to whom, Socrates frequently preaches to about his
theology. Socrates speech, however, is not an apology, as the name may suggest but rather an
explanation of his beliefs. During his trial speech, Socrates makes frequent reference to his
beliefs explaining that his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi, which
claims that he was the wisest of all men. Although Socrates is honest and direct about these
beliefs, this did not sit well with many of the trial members who were evaluating him. Despite
the fact that Socrates made frequent references to the fact that it is destined for him to be the
wisest of all men, he also recognizes that he does in fact lack in knowledge when it comes to
world affairs. To which, Socrates states only adds to his wisdom as he is aware of the fact that he
does not know everything and that realization alone makes him wiser than most other men. In his
explanation of his behavior, Socrates also adds that part of his duty as a wise man, is to make sure
that he questions the behavior of other wise men to make sure that those men are also aware

In her text Stereotypical Constructions of the Maori Race in the Media Melanie Wall (1997)
explores two key ideas: how stereotypes gave Pakeha the justification to Colonise New Zealand
and the contemporary stereotypes of Maori in the media. Wall s argument is centred on the idea
that the stereotypes in the media today have been re created from the identity that was given to
the Maori by Pakeha during colonisation. she further argues that not only that the stereotypes
were given to the Maori but they were used to justify the colonisation of New Zealand. Wall goes
on to say that racial disclosure has played a huge role in the colonisation of territories as
stereotypes were used to justify the conceptual domination and the material exploitation of the new
world (pg40). Wall claims that since the Maori were portrayed as

CO2 Emissions And Mitigation Potential of Automotive Vehicles In Canada
Introduction
There is undeniable evidence that due to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gasses the
Earth is warming up. Warming up the planet is causing climate changeand leading to extreme
weather situations. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change and is being
produced at a rate that is higher than anything in recorded history [Nature 513.7517, 2014].
Reducing CO2 emissions produced by vehicles can lead to a drastic impact on the current state of
climate change.

Greenhouse gas emissions are rising around the world at alarming rates and better action needs to
be taken to ensure a future that isn t filled with smog and life threatening pollution as seen in parts
of China.
Effects of Greenhouse Gases Greenhouses are controlled environments for plants to grow in
prime conditions. Greenhouses are designed to trap solar radiation to create a warmer
environment for the plants and allow the plants to grow where they normally would not. The
Earth has a natural greenhouse effect and is vital in supporting life. Greenhouse gases create a
sort of barrier to trap some radiated energy. However, the drastic production of greenhouse gases
increases this barrier and creates a warmer temperature for the planet [Nature 476.7358, 2011].
Destabilizing the greenhouse effect of the planet can lead to major consequences which has already
occurred such as:
Long droughts, California s water shortage, and
Major weather conditions, Hurricane Katrina.
The general warming of the planet will cause the bodies of water to expand and has the potential to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plastic Surgery
Is plastic surgery a good act to be done or not? The debate is on in the favor and against it from
the time of invention of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is the making of body parts which are
damaged in accidents or are by birth affected or there could be cosmetic reason. The essay below
is going to discuss whether plastic surgeryis good to be done or not.
Firstly, it is often said that beauty of the person is not his/her appearance, but today the world have
changed and physical appearance has also become important for everyone. The technology has
improved a lot and has provided us with the chance of looking better through plastic surgery. There
are basically five benefits of plastic surgery which are; physical appearance, breathing, posture, ...

Without disagreeing with he fact that plastic surgery has uncountable benefits there are some
disadvantages of plastic surgery as well. The disadvantages of plastic surgery involves the risk
of complications, death and imperfect results. Moreover it is costly, slow healing and people
might get addicted to it. Most people are at risk of getting complications after the plastic surgery
because of their sensitive bodies. The chances of having disease, illness and infection are very
high. Complications can be very hard, for example, paralysis of face or other body parts, heart
rhythm might change to abnormal, airway obstruction, blood clots, damage in brain, heart
attack, etc... The rate of people who die due to plastic surgery is low. The surgery includes the
use of chemicals and tools that causes infection to the person s body. More bleeding, heart attack
and drop in blood pressure are common reasons that lead to death during the plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery does not always turn into what the person was desiring of. Sometimes people
have to revise the plastic surgery to get back their original look due to unlikeable and unexpected
results of first plastic surgery. The number of people going through the revision process of plastic
surgery are increasing day by day due to unexpected and undesired results. Above all that, plastic
surgery is a costly procedure. To have plastic surgery one have to be rich

16.2 Describe the main phases involved database design.
Database design is made up of three main phases: logical and physical database design.
Conceptual database design: the process of constructing a model of the data used in an enterprise,
independent of all physical consideration. It begin with creating conceptual data model for the
enterprise that is entirely independent of implementation details.
Logical database design is the process of constructing a model of the data used in a company
based on a specific data model, but independent of a particular DBMS and other physical
considerations.
In the logical database design phase we build the logical representation of the database, which
includes identification of the important entities and relationships, and then translate this
representation to a set of tables. The logical data model is a source of information for the physical
design phase, providing the physical database designer with a vehicle for making tradeoffs that are
very important to the design of an efficient database.
Physical database design is the process of producing a description of the implementation of the
database on secondary storage; it describes the base tables, file organizations, and indexes used to
achieve efficient access to the data, and any

The Killer Angels By Michael Shaara
Just about everybody knows the story of the Battle of Gettysburg. Michael Shaara puts a little
different spin on it in his book The Killer Angels. The book is a work of fiction, but based on
facts and experiences from people that were there. Michael Shaara gives us all an inside look at
the multiple points of views about the cause of the war. He tells the battle from the perspective of
the Union, Confederates, and even a couple of people from other countries. In the book, Shaara is
very good at putting a fictional twist on the war, while at the same time sticking to the facts and
staying true to the actual story. He gives an accurate description of the war while filling in the
blanks from using letters, diaries, and other personal accounts from the people that were there....

Even though this is a work of fiction, I feel that he gives an accurate description of each individual
and almost makes it feel as the reader knows the characters in the book. The major characters that
Shaara focuses on from the Confederate side are: General Robert E. Lee, General James Longstreet,
General George Pickett, General Richard Ewell, General Ambrose Powell Hill, General Lewis
Armistead, and General J. E. B. Stuart. From the Union side the story is told from the points of
view of: General John Buford, General John Reynolds, General George Meade, General Winfield
Hancock, and Colonel Joshua Chamberlain. The book goes back and forth between several of
these characters, telling the story from their perspective as the battle unfolds. I will give a brief
summary of some of these characters and the different views that they have on the war itself, and

Throughout the novel, they struggle with their friendship and their innocence, and near the end,

Phineas to the life (62). Gene also says how it gave him a relief when he was wearing Finny s

After viewing this quote, it is shown that Gene didn t really understand who he was. He wanted

Technology And Its Impact On Technology
Once the firms gets patency for their technology they can precede with their next step that is to
manufacture the product, market the product and launch the product. Once the product is out in the

for the life of the product as to if the technology is being out of date then they need to make
changes accordingly in order to cope with the market needs. But another thing which the firm

Asset Devalued: If the firm s innovation has been hacked or is being used by others then the
value of that asset is decreased. This is because of the a lot of fakes or thefts will be going on for
that product so if a firm wants the sell that innovation to someone then the value of it will be
degraded because of that.

Television s Effects on the Natural Environment Essay
Television s Effects on the Natural Environment You may be thinking, How on earth could the TV
have an affect on our natural environment? and you have every right to. At first glance, it may seem
impossible that the TV can have an effect on our natural surroundings; but, nevertheless, it does.
One of the ways that the TV can have an effect on our surroundings is by the amount of power that
is needed to run all of the TV s in the world. I realize, that compared to other appliances, a
television does not use a huge amount of energy. But think about this: almost every family in
America has at least one TV if not more (some people that I know have upwards of 6 and 7). Can
you imagine the power it must take to run all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You ve seen some examples of the bad; now let us focus on the good.
These same people that I have just talked about above can also help the environment. Scientists who
make documentaries can be very helpful to the environment as well. If they are able to travel
into the wilderness to study animals and wildlife, a video camera can be a useful tool. The
scientists, with the help of a video camera, can record their observations of these animals and
view them later on a television or place them on television where others, who were not able to
travel to the particular location, can watch and observe these animals as well. The ability to do this
helps the environment in two ways: 1) It helps scientists and other experts understand our natural
world much better enabling them to help preserve it, and it 2) promotes education of the
environment to those who are not scientists. As you can see, the TV has an effect on our
environment for good and bad, even though it may be indirect.
When I say natural environment, you probably only think about the ways in which it affects our
land and animals, but there is another aspect: human health. Television has had a great impact on
human health since its invention in 1926. Americans, and humans in general, spend huge amounts
of time watching television each year. When people watch TV, they are giving up time in which
they could be exercising. As a consequence of this lack of exercise,

The Blood Of Blood And Blood
The ABO blood types play an integral role in conducting blood transfusions. Blood is a complex,
living tissue that contains many cell types and proteins (green). The average adult body is
comprised of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components,
each with a specific function. Almost half of the bloodvolume is red blood cells, which transport
oxygen and other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other
wastes. White blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots
to prevent blood loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. The rest of the blood,

He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the
red blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red
blood cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of
antigens determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood,
while a person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will
have type AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood.
Type O blood is actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the
population. About 40% of the population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to
11% is Type B. Only 4% of all Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red
cells, in other words type AB blood (red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik
Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is
found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to external influences (blue). A child inherits one
allele for an antigen from each parent and the combination determines his blood type. The A and
B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive. Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B
gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he will have type B blood. If, on the other hand,

illogical if the propagandist thinks that their ideas are believable (PBS). Because few of the
farm animals are highly knowledgeable, the pigs take the milk from the cows and the windfall

Kingsford Charcoal is in the business of selling charcoal for grills. Even though Kingsford
increased its market share in 2000, their forecast indicates they will not reach the initial revenue
mark. With the charcoal market s growth slowing, and the gas grill market gaining market share,

As mentioned before, charcoal is well in the mature stage of the product cycle in which more
advertising would be optimal. Charcoal should be Kingsford s cash cow in which they can use the
funds generated from them and invest it in research and development; so that they may introduce a
new product preferably in the gas grilling market in the near future. As with a stagnant price
increase, the same can be said of advertising from Kingsford. Their advertising budget has
decreased throughout the years, while the gas grilling market has increased its advertising
budget each year. MMA s analysis of 1998 spending shown that TV advertising can drive volume
increase of around 7% for the current year and even a 3% to 4% increase of volume purchased
in the following year. This indicates the importance of advertising. One area which is lacking
for the whole charcoal category since Kingsford is the only brand that advertises at all for
charcoal. Perhaps advertisements can show how charcoal grilling is the correct and tasty way to
grill instead of gas grilling. Kingsford can look to do blind tastings again and publish the findings.
If they look to stretch the grilling season they should look beyond just NASCAR events, but
perhaps also with NFL sporting events, as well as other events and activities in which grilling is
popular. They could become a sponsor in which sports can endorse them

ABSTRACT
Invasive procedures including chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis in sex linked diseases
increase the risk of fetal loss. Therefore, Noninvasive fetal gender determination using cell free
fetal DNA (cffDNA) in maternal plasma may be promising. Fifty pregnant women with
gestational age between sixth to tenth weeks were included. cffDNA were extracted from
maternal plasma and amplified by real time PCR and conventional PCR for detection of SRY,
DYS14 and DAZ genes as specific genetic markers for male bearing pregnancies. In general,
sensitivity and specificity of real time PCR was better than conventional PCR. However,
sensitivity of DYS14 gene and specificity of SRY gene by real time PCR was equal to those of
conventional PCR. Sensitivity of DYS14 gene was the highest and sensitivity of SRY gene was the
lowest. However, combination of the three Y chromosome sequences in the diagnosis increased the
test accuracy, which is suitable for clinical application.

Christopher Columbus was probably the first European to handle rubber. Rubber has been used by

but unfortunately mastication deprived rubber of its elastic qualities.
Charles Goodyear has discovered vulcanization in 1839, which solved the problem and also kept
rubber products from becoming tacky. Hence the commercial uses of rubber multiplied greatly.
Shortly thereafter, the rise of the automobile industry at the century s turn resulted in a tremendous

Thus, SWOT analysis was being used to identify the strength, weaknesses, opportunity, and threats
of the company s operation. By using this analysis, we get to identify how the company s operation
runs and what strategies would be the best to be suggested in the alternatives. The strength for
Taurus is well established background, reputation for quality, strong division and strategic internal
development. The weakness is inefficiencies productivity, weak competitive position and not

opportunity is highly attractive market, awareness of joint venture and merging, high demand of

threat is high threat of new entrants, maturity of tires, occurrence of new private law and crisis in

The Real Business Cycle Theory Model
The two main models that draw most attention from the neoclassical period are the Solow model
in the long run and the Real Business cycle incorporated with the Ramsey consumption or Euler
equation in the short run. The Ramsey model in the short makes a more accurate depiction of
what consumption and production in an economy would look like. The model in the short run
follows a Dynamic stochastic general equilibrium; this type of model is more complex and
allows for it to show economic growth in a closed cyclical model. The Ramsey model, which is
the The Real Business Cycle Theory model in the short run, is far superior to the long run Solow
model. However, the long run model by Solow has its benefits because it represents a closed
economy producing one good with constant capital accumulation; yet, it fails to account for
technological changes and other shocks that take place in an economy. This model is used over
such a long period that it becomes a very theoretical generalization. Both these models explain
growth in the economy, but the short term Real business cycle theory is a more accurate
representation of economic growth as it depicts a direct correlation between consumption and
production and accounts for economic shocks. These two models aim to explain how economic
growth takes place due to changes in production and consumption. Economists have constantly tried
to explain how growth occurs in an economy. This is done by the creation of different models and

The Most Common And Well Known Variation Of Md Is Duchenne
The most common and well known variation of MD is Duchenne MD (DMD). The person in
history who gets the credit for first studying and publishing details on this type of MD is rather
complicated. The disease is actually named after Gulliaume Benjamin Amand Duchenne.
Duchenne first described his details of the disease in the late 1800s. Since the disease is named
after him, it is highly accepted that he was the first; however, there are many that simply do not
agree on the matter. It has now come to light that a doctor from the United Kingdom named
Edward Meryon actually wrote his own account on the disease a decade before Duchenne. This
type accounts for about half of all MD cases 2. Scott Giles stated that the incidence of DMD is...

The enlarged calf muscle may be the next noticeable trait of a DMD patient. The patient s calf s
look like they have muscle, but this enlargement of the calves is actually fat. This is referred to
as pseudo hypertrophy, and patients with pseudo hypertrophy of the calves usually walk on their
toes due to the contracture. Another initial sign of DMD would be waddling gait 1. This form of
walking looks like a duck in a sense. It is where the alternating steps are overstated and the hips are
elevated more than normal.
Usually once atrophy of the hip musculature is noticed, shoulder weakness in noticed also. Those
inflicted with DMD will also have trouble with overhead activates, and keeping the shoulders
flexed for long periods of time. Scott M. Giles actually lists the following muscles affected by
DMD: Shoulder girdle musculature, pectorals, deltoids, rectus abdominals, gluteals, hamstrings,
and calf muscles 6. DMD patients continue to lose control and strength in their lower extremity
musculature and eventually have so much trouble walking they are confined to a wheelchair.
There is not a set age where this occurs, but the average is around twelve years old. The DMD
muscles involved in eating, drinking, and of the eye are not touched by the disease. They usually
do not have any hearing deficits or stroke disorders 1.
There are several additional complications with DMD. It

Dystopian Novels In Gerry Canva s Green Planet
Gerry Canvas s claim from the novel Green Planets, the sorts of systemic global changes that are
imminent, or already happening, and [begin] to imagine what our transformed planet might
eventually be like for those who will come to live on it (16 17), are totally accurate. It also
mentions that the genres that fall under the label of fantastic, including YA dystopias are extremely
useful for the 21st century because they can imagine and depict what the future of humanity might
be like. One, the classification of the general population by one s jobs and the set of rules one
follows are based on the teaching of ones parents and influential society as the students in the YA
Dystopiacourse saw in the film Divergent directed by Neil Burger. Two, the lies and deceit the
kids in the 21st century tell the parents or other family members is high. The roles of society class
and power are all major roles that are being played in the decision of those kids as one has viewed
in the novel Matched by Ally Condie. Three, in the novel Feed written by Matthew Tobin Anderson,
individuals read that the setting of the novel was in the near future with the technology being ahead

The Battle of Badr Mentioned in the Q uran
Introduction
The Battle of Badr was a decisive battle in the struggle of Mohammad against the Meccan
community. It was fought fifty miles southwest of Medina on March 13, 624 AD. The battle lasted
a day and consisted of three hundred thirteen unarmed men, two horses, and seventy camels. The
Meccan army consisted of around one thousand men, one hundred horses, and one hundred
seventy camels. The battle resulted in fourteen deaths of Muslim forces and seventy deaths of
Meccan forces. This battle is one of the few battles mentioned in the Qu ran, the Islamic Holy
Book. Most of the documentation of the battle come from Islamic Hadiths and biographies of
Mohammad. Between 623 and 624, the Muslims fought many small skirmishes against the Quraish
Meccans. The Battle of Badr was the first large scale fight between them. At the time of the battle,
Badr was a small oasis southwest of Medina. It was located in a valley that had two wells.
Muhammad was able to use those facts to his advantage. (Armstrong, 1992)
Influential People in the Battle The most influential person in the battle was Muhammad. He was
the Muslim leader and essentially the founder of the Islamic religion. In the Islamic faith, he is a
prophet sent from God to deliver his message to the people. The accounts are collected in the Qu
ran and in Hadiths. Hadiths are the sayings and doings of Muhammad. Abu Jahl was the primary
antagonist of Muhammad. He was the Quraish leader and lead the Meccan army into the Battle

Minority Representation Of Minority Minorities
The insufficiency in the representation of minorities in higher education administration and tenured
faculty remained consistently problematic in spite of the existing and growing awareness within
the higher education community (Nye Maxey, 1994). According to McKenney and Cejda (2000),
minority representation in the American higher educationsystem has generally been a major issue
for the academic community as a whole.
Racial and ethnic diversity has become increasingly more challenging throughout colleges and
universities across the United States. Little progress has been made, for instance, for minority
faculty members to move up through the leadership ranks. There are large disparities for minority
faculty members when data and demographic trends in faculty and institutional leadership are
examined.
Higher education institutions, argued Gibson Benninger (1995), must increase their efforts in the
appointment of women and minorities because these two groups have been severely
underrepresented in leadership positions. Higher education institutions have not achieved much
success with regard to minority recruitment to leadership positions by failing to aggressively recruit
minority applicants (Gibson Benninger, 1995).
Since its inception in 1987, the diversity program that was aiming to link academic excellence and
social diversity at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor campus has shown some improvement in
the number of their minority faculty members of tenured and

Intentional Animal Abuse
Animal Abuse The shocking number of animal abuse cases reported every day is nothing
compared to most of those which are never reported. Cases of animal abuse are not compiled by
the state or federal agencies such as violent crimes against humans. This makes it much more
difficult to calculate how much it actually happens. Information available to us can help us better
understand and prevent cases of abuse against animals. They re all special and talented in their own
way. Animals should not be shown for games or entertainment. It can happen anywhere. Animal
abuse is common in both rural and urban areas. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly correlated
with violent crimes against people. Hoarding behavior is harmful to animals, for if someone suffers
from this disorder, it may be dangerous for the animal/s because they may house more than they can

Theme Of Allusions In Dantes Inferno
James Dietrich
Mr. Kokenakes
4th Hour
15 December, 2017
The Secrets Behind People
Smiling.. Shaking head, and acting like everything is understood and okay is a common gesture
people show when they are told something they are incapable of putting together or
understanding. This feeling of cluelessness or embarrassment most commonly occurs when
someone uses an allusion to describe a noun. Most people use allusions everyday and have no
idea that they are doing so. Allusions are an excellent way to build someone s confidence or put
them in down in a sneaky and sly way. Using allusions is quite simple; comparing someone or
something that has a specific representation or meaning to a person or group. This allows: authors,
friends, and even enemies to indirectly imply a reference. The Book Dante s inferno is filled with a
plethora of allusions from small references to big that take a significant amount of elaboration and
background knowledge to understand completely. Including Greek emperors and queens being
alluded including: Virgil, Pope Celestine V, and many others.
Dante made it through many different obstacles and layers of hell, but he could not of made it
through his journey without Virgil. The character in the book is being alluded to the Roman poet
Publius Vergilius Maro. Maro believed and wrote a legendary piece of literature that stated the
mission to civilize the world under divine guidance. He not only wrote about these ways of life but
he did his best to

Reflection On Good Life
With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed
outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good
life? This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many
people. The word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living
being. Put the two words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a
modified and opinionated noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can
reward you with many benefits. The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in
order to make yourself happy, wise, and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from
APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good
life. He taught his philosophy and ways of thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness
did not come from material things, like money. Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is
a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and questioning everything. He did a lot of self
examination and became completely aware of who he was, and wanted to be in the future. On
page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance
of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong
acting the part of a good man or of a bad. Socrates

Research Paper On Pizza House
Ethnographic Study on DDDN
Every time when I argue about what to eat for lunch with friends, we never come to a single
agreement. Then one person comes up with an idea and says, How about pizza? Everyone
silences for a moment, nods heads, and then head to DDDN Pizza House. Pizza is modifiable
depending on tastes of the customers: toping, thickness of the dough and the way it is cooked. It is
a fast food that nowadays is accessible to everyone at anytime, regardless of the cultural and
socioeconomic status. On the other hand, eating pizza may hold different meanings to the people
depending on their background financial position, ages, gender et cetera. For instance, a seven
years old kid might consider pizza as the food that she can eat only on special occasions like
birthday party. However for a university student, for me as an example, pizza is no more than a
cheap, tasty fast food that I eat when I am running out of time to have a proper meal.
For the ethnography paper, I decided to study DDDN pizza house. Spectrum of customers of
DDDN is very wide, from children to adult, male to female, young to elderly, and domestic to
international. From the observation I will address several key questions such as following: How

Is Canada A Liberal Democracy
What is a liberal democracy?
Liberal democracy, otherwise known as a Representative democracy , is a political ideology and
form of government; most commonly found in western countries. The ideal outcome of a liberal
democracy is seen as a completely democratic and equal society. A liberal democracy is
characterized by some key features that attempt to ensure a free and fair country for all those who
reside there, said characteristics include; separation of powers, free, fair and competitive elections,
checks balances, protection of human rights, civil rights, etc. and a rule of law.
A Liberal democracy may take different constitutional forms, for example; Australia is a
constitutional monarchy, an offset of a liberal democracy and it shares this form of government
with the subject of this essay; Canada!
Protection of Human Rights
Canada is often regarded as a leading country regarding progressiveness and social justice,

Introduction
In the early 2020 s an oral medication was developed to treat HIV/AIDS, eventually this medication
came to be the new cure for the infection. In the following years, HIV was no longer an issue or a
cause for concern, as health professionals declared an HIV/AIDS free world. Nine years later, in
2031 a new strain of HIV emerged. This new strain has become resistant to the original oral
medication that cured HIV/AIDS years before. In addition, the virus has mutated to a point in
which that it is spreading at twice the pace as the original strain. The virus is more aggressive and
no course of previous treatment has proved effective in mitigating the effects. Thus, individuals

Interest
This prevention study will work towards discovering if social changes in the lives of drug users
and sex workers will act as a form of prevention in being infected with HIV. Through social
programming such as, HIV education courses, economic opportunities through small businesses,
and safe injection sites this study will look towards a correlation between these attributes and a
decline in high risk behaviors thus preventing the risk of HIV infection. The concept of risk
environment plays a role in the increase in risk of infection as it is regarded as the space,
whether social or physical, in which a variety of factors exogenous to the individual interact to
increase vulnerability to HIV (Roy et. Al, 2011). Many studies of vulnerable individuals such as
injection drug users, sex workers, and the homeless have shown that these factors have a
significant influence on their health since they shape daily risk taking (Roy et. Al, 2011). Thus,
due to said situations reports of individuals having traded sex for money, drugs, or other
commodities for survival, increases HIV incidence of this high risk behavior (Roy et Al, 2011).
Therefore this study will work towards mitigating the situations that put individuals as risk of HIV
infection, as a form of prevention.

This prevention study will create public social service programs in order

The Exodus Of The Beginning Of Israel
Exodus marks the start of Israel as a people. They were an extended family, under a dynasty of
strong pharaohs. They oppressed Israel and put them to forced labor, for fear of their number size.
Still, they multiplied faster, therefore, a decree was issued to destroy them by ordering the death of
all baby boys.
At this particular time Moses was born, from the tribe of Levi. Although trained as the son of
Pharaoh s daughter, yet, his own mother was hired to care for him due to her placing him in the
bulrushes at the edge of the Nile River to not be destroyed because of Pharaoh s order to kill all
baby boys. With his mother caring for him, he grew up knowing the plight of his people. Many
years passed approximately 80 when God appeared to Moses as a shepherd in Midian, in a burning
bush and commanded him to go return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites out of slavery.
From Egypt to Mt. Sinai
Moses was a new beginning for the Israelites. Moses was obedient to God and followed God s
pattern Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:1 11. He was also the forerunner (foreshadow of Christ) 2
Timothy 1:8 10. He was chosen by God to free Israel from Egypt Exodus 6:1 13. This was also the
fourth generation since Jacob Exodus 16 26.
The stage was set for Pharaoh to witness God s awesome power through Moses Exodus 7 9.
Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let God s people go due to God s hardening of his heart. However,
God miraculously delivered His people from the hands of the most powerful

Aquinas Cosmological Argument
Aquinas was a Catholic priest who tried to prove the existence of God using his five cosmological
arguments. I disagree with the validity of these arguments. The arguments presented by Aquinas are
questionable and most certainly do not prove the existence of the Christian God. Aquinas states that
God s existencecan be proved in five ways. The first way he tries to prove God is proof by motion.
He states that motion is a reduction of something from potentiality to actuality. It is impossible for
something to be in potentiality and actuality at the same time. It is obvious that some things in the
world are in motion. Whatever is moved is moved by something else, because nothing can be put
into actuality without being first in potentiality, and something in potentiality can only be put into...

The arguments combined prove a being which is a prime mover, first cause, necessary being,
root of all perfection, and intelligent being. The arguments, however, do not prove the Christian
God as described by the Bible. First, the arguments do not prove that there is only one god.
There could be several gods and Aquinas arguments do nothing to prove otherwise. Furthermore,
a god could have all of these attributes yet never have done anything that was described in the
Bible. For example, I can envision a god with all of these attributes who enjoys to eat cheese. I
could even write a book about such a god and the different types of cheese he eats. And, based on
Aquinas arguments, as my god has all the qualities described by Aquinas, my god is equally as
likely to exist as the Christian God. There are infinitely many gods that can be envisioned which all
have the attributes described by Aquinas. Therefore, there is no way of proving, even if Aquinas
arguments are true, that the Christian God described by the Bible

  • 3. The Portrait Of Marie Antoinette The artwork I decided to do my research and write about is the portrait of Marie Antoinette with her Children. I found this portrait very interested in me; I am going to give you a brief information on the artist of the artwork. This portrait was by Elisabeth Louise Vigee Lerun and the portrait is oil on canvas, 9 ВЅ x 7 5/8 . The portrait was created in 1700 in France. It s a portrait of a French queen who is Marie Antoinettealong with her children as a good mother to her children, but there is no sign of the father in the portrait. The portrait is a loving mother of four children, but only three are shown in the portrait because of the children deceased. Also I see the portrait of a single mother who is a loving mother who love her children daily and have a space of emptiness because of the loss of her child who processed into his death at 11 months old. The artist of the portrait is Elisabeth Vigee Lebrun. She was born in Paris on April 16, 1755. She was the daughter of Louis Vigee who was a pastel painter of moderate talent and devoted to his artwork. When Elisabeth turned eleven her education was considered complete, she then left school for good to return home to her parents and to pursue her dream as a painter like her father. While back at home with her parents, she spend many of her hours in her father s studio experimenting to her heart s content with his crayons, and dutifully accompanied her mother, who, we are told, was good to the point of austerity, ... Deming, on the other hand, had a system he established using a fourteen point formula which recognized the purpose toward improvement, leadership, and training, as well as taking actions to ensure a successful process improvement. Standards of Performance Crosby s performance standard consisted of having a zero defect approach, which meant everyone involved (supplier and customer included) must understand. Crosby defined zero defect as not being a literal zero defect (as that is not always possible), but rather producing goods or services within agreed upon tolerances and requirements for quality and costs. Juran had a four step formula when it came to performance standards: establish goals to be reached, establish plans for these goals, meet the goals, and rewards based on results achieved. Deming had a process called the Deming Wheel, which was an adaptation of the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, and Act) Problem Solving Cycle. To break it down, Plan involved designing components to improve results, Do employed the plan, Check evaluated the measurements, and Act made decisions based on the changes needed to improve the process. Quality Measurements Juran s perspective on quality was based on five general measures, the measures being the cost of poor quality, defects, product/process features, customer needs, and customer behavior. I have read a book called The Brave when I was in eleventh grade for a free read that showed me how common and serous bullying can be. It has also showed me that our generation needs to learn to have respect for each other in and outside of school so bullyingwill start to go away. In books that I have read in school in the past that dealt with bullying were far worse than what people consider bullying today. In most cases the bullying is on a very serious level in books now a days and could cause the victima lot of physical, mental, and emotional harm from what the characters say and do. The Vegas visitors want to feel a little naughtier and less inhibited and that is what their customers are buying. To accommodate the benefits the customers are seeking, the actual services and products are provided to the satisfaction of the visitors. Various product features of Las Vegas were produced to target the adult such as casinos, luxury retailers, world renowned restaurants and five star hotels. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and the Student Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common obstacles that some students face in the process of learning. It is also very important to understand the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD, as well as the causes and treatments available. According the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM4), children must have at least six out of nine listed criteria in order to be diagnosed with ADHD. Some examples of these criteria includes, but is not limited to, paying little attention to detail, lack of organization, forgetfulness, easily distracted, impatience, talkative, and fidgety ( Teaching , 1998, Zeigler Dendy, 2000). Diagnosing ADHD can be a difficult task because of the variance of symptoms and behaviors. What often makes an attention deficit so complex is that two thirds of student with a disorder have at least one other coexisting condition such as learning disabilities, anxiety, or depression (Zeigler Dendy, 2000, p1). One key identifier is a two to four year lag of age appropriate developmental skills (Zeigler Dendy, 2002, p3). Other symptoms and behaviors that may be an indicator of ADHD include disorganization, forgetfulness, impaired sense of time, variability in school work, sleep disturbances, inability to learn from either punishment or rewards, and also the inability to adapt easily to change (Zeigler Dendy, 2000). • 8. Ophelia In Hamlet Essay Polonius, Ophelia s father, embodies the theories the Other and a lack of female agency while discussing with Ophelia a similar case to her brother. In act 1 scene 3 of Hamlet, Polonius decides to inform Ophelia of the same matters that Laertes provides her. While Ophelia is departing from sending off her brother, Polonius asks Ophelia what her and her brother were discussing, resulting in her receiving unsolicited advice from her father on how to handle Hamlet s sexual and romantic advances. Polonius states, Tender yourself more dearly / Or ... / you ll tender me a fool. (1.3.107 109). What he is stating here is that if Ophelia does not respect herself and succumbs to Hamlet s lustful actions, Polonius will be painted as a fool. Similar to Laertes disccusion, Polonius s comment to Ophelia marks the notion that Ophelia cannot be respected if she operates in sexual endeavors. This idea represents Balizet s notion that women s sexuality is a patriarchal standard and also represents de Beauvoir s notion that a womanis not sexual unless with a man. However, there is a deeper standard that is portrayed by Polonius that is a necessity to address. In the quote provided above, Polonius discusses that his respect will be lost as well if Ophelia acts on lust because he is her father. This form of selfishness that is represented within Polonius s speech supports de Beauvoir s theory that women are thought of to be as the Other of men. Polonius s anxiety of loss of respect for himself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Hedda Gabler The play Hedda Gabler, written by Henrik Ibsen, discusses the journey of the protagonist Hedda Tesman, formerly known as Hedda Gabler, in her descent to suicide. The story leads her to feel entrapped by a misery that surrounds her life and leads her to feel that death is her only escape. While a traditional reading of the play is that Hedda is a victim of society, a modern interpretation is that Hedda is much more a victim of herself: her dislike of motherhood, her self insecurities and her flirtatious behaviour, with the constrictive time period and setting only accentuating these faults. Overall Ibsen aims to show the audience the difficulties that face those in society who fail to fit into social roles and expectations, discussing whether... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst women of this era were expected to raise children, Hedda demonstrates an inability to sustain such maternal feelings, causing her to view herself as separated from society. This is illustrated in Ibsen s use of diction in the title, naming the play Hedda Gabler rather than Hedda Tesman to suggest that Hedda is unable to conform to such traditional customs as taking her husband s name. This is perpetuated through Tesman s constant hints at pregnancy. In this, it is shown how Tesman believes Hedda to be pregnant, saying how Hedda has filled out on the journey . Ibsen s use of metaphor in Tesman s comment emphasises how, at even the suggestion of pregnancy, Hedda becomes derisive, as she replies Oh, do be quiet ! Likewise, Ibsen uses the foil of Miss Tesman to emphasise Hedda s isolation. Miss Tesman is seen to be excited at the suggestion of Hedda s perceived pregnancy, highlighting the unusual nature of Hedda s displeasure. Her dislike of the prospect of motherhood causes Hedda to experience a sense of isolation and exclusion from those around her. This societal isolation is presented to the audience through Ibsen s use of physical description. Mrs. Elvsted s hair, being described as unusually abundant becomes symbolic of one s ability to fit into society. She is characterised as beautiful , stupid and an ideal women of the period. In comparison, Hedda s hair, described as not particularly abundant , illustrates her inability to conform. Yet it can be seen that Hedda hopes to conform to society and thus suggesting that her anguish is as a result of her separation from society, a situation that can be attributed to her character faults, rather than the constraints of society itself. This is demonstrated through Ibsen s use of backstory which illustrates Hedda s life long obsession with Mrs. Elvsted s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Teenagers On After-school Jobs Essays Almost every teenager wants a job, yet many people are against it. I believe teenagers should have after school jobs for a number of reasons. First, having a son or a daughter that works can financially help the parents. Also, the experience the teenager will acquire from after school jobs will help him or her on future jobs. Finally, teenagers should have after school jobs because it will keep them away from trouble. Parents should realize that as long as their son or daughter wants an after school job and it does not affect his or her performance at school, they should let their child have one. Usually, families that have financial problems have their teenage children go to work. Having an extra family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By having a job a teenager can save up for college, to buy a car, to buy a stereo, etc. Teenagers feel free when they have a job: they can spend their own money on whatever they want without feeling guilty. In addition to helping his family, having a job at an early age can help for future jobs. When many people apply for an important job, the employer will most likely choose the person who has the most working experience. People who have had a job since their teenage years will know how to deal with the stress and the work better than new people. They will be able to cope with job related problems. This reason is very significant for teenagers who choose not to go to college, and their only reason for getting employed is experience. Yet, the most important reason is that jobs keep teenagers away from violence. Jobs are very time consuming. If a teenager works and goes to school, he will probably not have time to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more employees are getting drug tested at their jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will not do drugs because he will get fired. Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend his earned money instead of stealing. A job can lead a teenager to a better lifestyle and a healthier life. I think teenagers should have after school jobs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Wanderings Of Odysseus And The Odyssey And The Odyssey In Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes and in The Wanderings of Odysseus from The Odyssey the epic poem by Homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald, Jason and Odysseus display the following similar traits throughout their adventures: selfishness, dishonesty, and delegate. Throughout Jasonand Odysseus adventures, they both showed a great amount of selfishness. Selfishness is the act of being selfish, lacking consideration for others. On Jason s quest to finding the Golden Fleece, the author mentions, ...he thought of ambition only, never of love or of gratitude (Hamilton 133). During the long quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason was only focused on being successful, not much different from Odysseus. While on Odysseus voyage there had been fierce cannibals who bombarded the fleet of ships with boulders. Selfishness played apart of this misdemeanor because Odysseus didn t seem to care to help out the rest of his crew, Only Odysseus, his ship, and its crew of 45 survive the shower of boulders. The lone ship then sails to Aeaea, home of the goddess Circe, who is considered by many to be a witch (Fitzgerald 1224). Both scenarios from Hamilton s book and Fitzgerald s book are very similar. The main characters both seem like they only care about themselves being successful and they don t fully put thought into their mentor s health. Mentors are the people who have intentions to helping out. The mentor in The Mythology would be Medea and in The Odyssey, it would have been his crew, who did not survive on the other ships. They may have not been aware that they were being selfish because they were busy having their mind set on having to stay alive and complete the duty. In effect of having their minds only set on getting the job done, all three of these characteristics have played a part of it. A great amount of dishonesty had played a part on the way of Jason and Odysseus adventures. In Edith Hamilton s book, Jason showed dishonesty by taking all the glory when many people helped along the way, All that she did evil and of good was done for him alone, and in the end, all the reward she got was that he turned traitor to her (Hamilton 133). The picture can only be counted as unfair if it invoked the same emotion in everyone no matter who viewed it. Another reason the advertisement is not manipulative is because even though the way the advertisement was structured was skillful, it was more on the creative side. The creativity is shown by the content of the advertisement. With the use of a stop sign to replace half of a child s face, big bolded words, color scheme, and half of a child s face the company used creativity in designing the advertisement. The only skill that was used was the structure of the advertisement. With the child s face to the left, the stop sign to the right, and the bolded words underneath the stop sign it made the advertisement very easy to follow. However, that was the only skill used in the advertisement which is why it was more creative than skillful. The advertisement that the Stop The Abuse organization has recently came out with is persuasive and not manipulative because even though the advertisement is sad and may touch the emotions of some people, the fact of the matter is that it is only an advertisement and it is strictly the person s, who is watching the advertisement, choice on whether to donate to the advertisement. Greenhouses are designed to trap solar radiation to create a warmer environment for the plants and allow the plants to grow where they normally would not. The Earth has a natural greenhouse effect and is vital in supporting life. Greenhouse gases create a sort of barrier to trap some radiated energy. However, the drastic production of greenhouse gases increases this barrier and creates a warmer temperature for the planet [Nature 476.7358, 2011]. Destabilizing the greenhouse effect of the planet can lead to major consequences which has already occurred such as: Long droughts, California s water shortage, and Major weather conditions, Hurricane Katrina. The scientists, with the help of a video camera, can record their observations of these animals and view them later on a television or place them on television where others, who were not able to travel to the particular location, can watch and observe these animals as well. The ability to do this helps the environment in two ways: 1) It helps scientists and other experts understand our natural world much better enabling them to help preserve it, and it 2) promotes education of the environment to those who are not scientists. As you can see, the TV has an effect on our environment for good and bad, even though it may be indirect. When I say natural environment, you probably only think about the ways in which it affects our land and animals, but there is another aspect: human health. Television has had a great impact on human health since its invention in 1926. Americans, and humans in general, spend huge amounts of time watching television each year. When people watch TV, they are giving up time in which they could be exercising. As a consequence of this lack of exercise, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Blood Of Blood And Blood The ABO blood types play an integral role in conducting blood transfusions. Blood is a complex, living tissue that contains many cell types and proteins (green). The average adult body is comprised of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a specific function. Almost half of the bloodvolume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. White blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots to prevent blood loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. The rest of the blood, about 55%, is plasma, the fluid that carries the blood cells, along... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood (red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive. Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he will have type B blood. Because few of the farm animals are highly knowledgeable, the pigs take the milk from the cows and the windfall apples in Chapter 3 and the other animals barely question them. In fact, the pigs say it is for the animals own good that they drink the milk and eat the apples because it helps them run the farm and they actually dislike them (Orwell 36). Kingsford Charcoal is in the business of selling charcoal for grills. Even though Kingsford increased its market share in 2000, their forecast indicates they will not reach the initial revenue mark. With the charcoal market s growth slowing, and the gas grill market gaining market share, Kingsford needs to revise its strategy, and their marketing mix to meet original expectations for itself and Clorox. As with a stagnant price increase, the same can be said of advertising from Kingsford. Their advertising budget has decreased throughout the years, while the gas grilling market has increased its advertising budget each year. MMA s analysis of 1998 spending shown that TV advertising can drive volume increase of around 7% for the current year and even a 3% to 4% increase of volume purchased in the following year. This indicates the importance of advertising. One area which is lacking for the whole charcoal category since Kingsford is the only brand that advertises at all for charcoal. Perhaps advertisements can show how charcoal grilling is the correct and tasty way to grill instead of gas grilling. Kingsford can look to do blind tastings again and publish the findings. Therefore, Noninvasive fetal gender determination using cell free fetal DNA (cffDNA) in maternal plasma may be promising. Fifty pregnant women with gestational age between sixth to tenth weeks were included. cffDNA were extracted from maternal plasma and amplified by real time PCR and conventional PCR for detection of SRY, DYS14 and DAZ genes as specific genetic markers for male bearing pregnancies. In general, sensitivity and specificity of real time PCR was better than conventional PCR. However, sensitivity of DYS14 gene and specificity of SRY gene by real time PCR was equal to those of conventional PCR. Sensitivity of DYS14 gene was the highest and sensitivity of SRY gene was the lowest. However, combination of the three Y chromosome sequences in the diagnosis increased the test accuracy, which is suitable for clinical application. The Real Business Cycle Theory Model The two main models that draw most attention from the neoclassical period are the Solow model in the long run and the Real Business cycle incorporated with the Ramsey consumption or Euler equation in the short run. The Ramsey model in the short makes a more accurate depiction of what consumption and production in an economy would look like. The model in the short run follows a Dynamic stochastic general equilibrium; this type of model is more complex and allows for it to show economic growth in a closed cyclical model. The Ramsey model, which is the The Real Business Cycle Theory model in the short run, is far superior to the long run Solow model. However, the long run model by Solow has its benefits because it represents a closed economy producing one good with constant capital accumulation; yet, it fails to account for technological changes and other shocks that take place in an economy. This model is used over such a long period that it becomes a very theoretical generalization. Both these models explain growth in the economy, but the short term Real business cycle theory is a more accurate representation of economic growth as it depicts a direct correlation between consumption and production and accounts for economic shocks. These two models aim to explain how economic growth takes place due to changes in production and consumption. Economists have constantly tried to explain how growth occurs in an economy. The Meccan army consisted of around one thousand men, one hundred horses, and one hundred seventy camels. The battle resulted in fourteen deaths of Muslim forces and seventy deaths of Meccan forces. This battle is one of the few battles mentioned in the Qu ran, the Islamic Holy Book. Most of the documentation of the battle come from Islamic Hadiths and biographies of Mohammad. Minority Representation Of Minority Minorities The insufficiency in the representation of minorities in higher education administration and tenured faculty remained consistently problematic in spite of the existing and growing awareness within the higher education community (Nye Maxey, 1994). According to McKenney and Cejda (2000), minority representation in the American higher educationsystem has generally been a major issue for the academic community as a whole. Little progress has been made, for instance, for minority faculty members to move up through the leadership ranks. There are large disparities for minority faculty members when data and demographic trends in faculty and institutional leadership are examined. Higher education institutions, argued Gibson Benninger (1995), must increase their efforts in the appointment of women and minorities because these two groups have been severely underrepresented in leadership positions. Higher education institutions have not achieved much success with regard to minority recruitment to leadership positions by failing to aggressively recruit minority applicants (Gibson Benninger, 1995). Shaking head, and acting like everything is understood and okay is a common gesture people show when they are told something they are incapable of putting together or understanding. This feeling of cluelessness or embarrassment most commonly occurs when someone uses an allusion to describe a noun. Most people use allusions everyday and have no idea that they are doing so. Allusions are an excellent way to build someone s confidence or put them in down in a sneaky and sly way. Using allusions is quite simple; comparing someone or something that has a specific representation or meaning to a person or group. This allows: authors, friends, and even enemies to indirectly imply a reference. • 47. Reflection On Good Life With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good life? This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many people. The word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living being. Put the two words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a modified and opinionated noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can reward you with many benefits. The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in order to make yourself happy, wise, and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good life. He taught his philosophy and ways of thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness did not come from material things, like money. Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and questioning everything. He did a lot of self examination and became completely aware of who he was, and wanted to be in the future. On page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong acting the part of a good man or of a bad. It is a fast food that nowadays is accessible to everyone at anytime, regardless of the cultural and socioeconomic status. On the other hand, eating pizza may hold different meanings to the people depending on their background financial position, ages, gender et cetera. For instance, a seven years old kid might consider pizza as the food that she can eat only on special occasions like birthday party. However for a university student, for me as an example, pizza is no more than a cheap, tasty fast food that I eat when I am running out of time to have a proper meal. For the ethnography paper, I decided to study DDDN pizza house. Spectrum of customers of DDDN is very wide, from children to adult, male to female, young to elderly, and domestic to international. From the observation I will address several key questions such as following: How does the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kimchi pizza) are occasionally served. • 51. Is Canada A Liberal Democracy What is a liberal democracy? Liberal democracy, otherwise known as a Representative democracy , is a political ideology and form of government; most commonly found in western countries. The ideal outcome of a liberal democracy is seen as a completely democratic and equal society. A liberal democracy is characterized by some key features that attempt to ensure a free and fair country for all those who reside there, said characteristics include; separation of powers, free, fair and competitive elections, checks balances, protection of human rights, civil rights, etc. and a rule of law. A Liberal democracy may take different constitutional forms, for example; Australia is a constitutional monarchy, an offset of a liberal democracy and it shares this form of government with the subject of this essay; Canada! Protection of Human Rights Canada is often regarded as a leading country regarding progressiveness and social justice, especially now with their current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. • 52. Introduction . In The Early 2020’S An Oral Medication Was Introduction In the early 2020 s an oral medication was developed to treat HIV/AIDS, eventually this medication came to be the new cure for the infection. In the following years, HIV was no longer an issue or a cause for concern, as health professionals declared an HIV/AIDS free world. Nine years later, in 2031 a new strain of HIV emerged. This new strain has become resistant to the original oral medication that cured HIV/AIDS years before. In addition, the virus has mutated to a point in which that it is spreading at twice the pace as the original strain. The virus is more aggressive and no course of previous treatment has proved effective in mitigating the effects. Thus, individuals have come under greater risk of being infected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interest This prevention study will work towards discovering if social changes in the lives of drug users and sex workers will act as a form of prevention in being infected with HIV. Through social programming such as, HIV education courses, economic opportunities through small businesses, and safe injection sites this study will look towards a correlation between these attributes and a decline in high risk behaviors thus preventing the risk of HIV infection. The concept of risk environment plays a role in the increase in risk of infection as it is regarded as the space, whether social or physical, in which a variety of factors exogenous to the individual interact to increase vulnerability to HIV (Roy et. Al, 2011). Many studies of vulnerable individuals such as injection drug users, sex workers, and the homeless have shown that these factors have a significant influence on their health since they shape daily risk taking (Roy et. Al, 2011). Thus, due to said situations reports of individuals having traded sex for money, drugs, or other commodities for survival, increases HIV incidence of this high risk behavior (Roy et Al, 2011). Therefore this study will work towards mitigating the situations that put individuals as risk of HIV infection, as a form of prevention. Idea This prevention study will create public social service programs in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Exodus Of The Beginning Of Israel Exodus marks the start of Israel as a people. They were an extended family, under a dynasty of strong pharaohs. They oppressed Israel and put them to forced labor, for fear of their number size. Still, they multiplied faster, therefore, a decree was issued to destroy them by ordering the death of all baby boys. At this particular time Moses was born, from the tribe of Levi. Although trained as the son of Pharaoh s daughter, yet, his own mother was hired to care for him due to her placing him in the bulrushes at the edge of the Nile River to not be destroyed because of Pharaoh s order to kill all baby boys. With his mother caring for him, he grew up knowing the plight of his people. Many years passed approximately 80 when God appeared to Moses as a shepherd in Midian, in a burning bush and commanded him to go return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites out of slavery. From Egypt to Mt. Sinai Moses was a new beginning for the Israelites. Moses was obedient to God and followed God s pattern Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:1 11. He was also the forerunner (foreshadow of Christ) 2 Timothy 1:8 10. He was chosen by God to free Israel from Egypt Exodus 6:1 13. This was also the fourth generation since Jacob Exodus 16 26. The stage was set for Pharaoh to witness God s awesome power through Moses Exodus 7 9. Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let God s people go due to God s hardening of his heart. However, God miraculously delivered His people from the hands of the most powerful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Aquinas Cosmological Argument Aquinas was a Catholic priest who tried to prove the existence of God using his five cosmological arguments. I disagree with the validity of these arguments. The arguments presented by Aquinas are questionable and most certainly do not prove the existence of the Christian God. Aquinas states that God s existencecan be proved in five ways. The first way he tries to prove God is proof by motion. He states that motion is a reduction of something from potentiality to actuality. It is impossible for something to be in potentiality and actuality at the same time. It is obvious that some things in the world are in motion. Whatever is moved is moved by something else, because nothing can be put into actuality without being first in potentiality, and something in potentiality can only be put into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arguments combined prove a being which is a prime mover, first cause, necessary being, root of all perfection, and intelligent being. The arguments, however, do not prove the Christian God as described by the Bible. First, the arguments do not prove that there is only one god. There could be several gods and Aquinas arguments do nothing to prove otherwise. Furthermore, a god could have all of these attributes yet never have done anything that was described in the Bible. For example, I can envision a god with all of these attributes who enjoys to eat cheese. I could even write a book about such a god and the different types of cheese he eats. And, based on Aquinas arguments, as my god has all the qualities described by Aquinas, my god is equally as likely to exist as the Christian God. There are infinitely many gods that can be envisioned which all have the attributes described by Aquinas. Therefore, there is no way of proving, even if Aquinas arguments are true, that the Christian God described by the Bible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
