Differences in Competencies Between Associate and Baccalaureate Nursing Degree Amanda T.
Duggan Grand Canyon University: NRS 430V 05/06/15 Differences in Competencies Between
Associate and Baccalaureate Nursing Degree A survey was conducted with 102 graduates from
an associate degree program. The data analysis discussed the graduates perception of their comfort
level with leadership, delegation skills, management, professional identity and teamwork (Jones
Mbewe, 2011). This paper will focus on the areas that the graduates felt inadequate and compare
these areas to the focus and content of each program. It will also look at differences in nursing care
approaches based on educational background. Survey Resulted in Low... Show more content on

ADPIE stands for assessment, diagnosis, patient plan, implementation and evaluation of the
implementations. It was a very structured approach that has to be completed in the SBAR or
ADPIE format. It had to be done in order and each area had to be completed. There was no
creative approach allowed. Spiritualty was never part of any aspect of the process. There were
times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for
adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section.
For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I
was marked down. If I added the patients spiritual needs in the format it would be crossed out
because it did not fit the checklist. The nursing approach that was used in our program was based
on theory we learned in lecture. We wrote care plans that included an assessment, structural
variables, nursing diagnosis, goals, nursing interventions and evaluations. We were marked down if
the interventions didn t match the nursing diagnosis or if there was insufficient assessments made
to come up with a nursing diagnosis or goal. There was no delegation or leadership involved with
our approach. It was structured and specific with little ability to vary from a nursing care approach
that was taught. According to the (Nursing Fact Sheet, 2011) the additional classes in the

The stent is inserted into the artery by balloon angioplasty, to expand the vessel walls in order to
return blood flow back to normal. There are two types of stents, bare metal stents and drug eluting

animation explains that in about 1/3 of BMS implants, restenosis occurs. On the other hand DES
were developed to combat this issue. The polymer coating on the DES contains a drug which aids
in the inhibition of restenosis. However, the endothelialization process for drug eluting stents has
shown to be problematic, which can in time cause stent thrombosis, which can possibly lead to
myocardial infarction. It is important to note that these stents should be used in patients how do

The Role Of Advertising In The 1920 s
During the 1920 s, advertisement has changed in many aspects of American culture. Although the
concept of advertising has existed in the United States since the establishment of the thirteen
colonies, the American advertisement became what it is today as in a result of the 1920 s. During
that time, most of propaganda techniques, that were used in modern times, were officially
established and perfected. However, advertisers find great accomplishments with the different
techniques such as psychology of advertisement, brand consciousness, therapeutic ethic, and even
the use of women image use on consumers that will master mind the advertisement culture.
The two ads have a very different interesting factor of using women to sell their product by creating
a psychological aspect to costumers so it will enhance their product of getting sold. Before
advertisement became to effect tremendously in the American culture in 1920 s, Americans were
going through ambivalence when they were categorized in functional groups such as the old middle
class and the new middle class. The old middle class believed that hard work is good for the
body and mind because Americans were working longer hours for less money compared to the
new middle class that have great opportunities to work new jobs and have satisfaction doing the
job while being paid well. Since America has changed to a new middle class evolution, the economy
and social status has shifted tremendously by creating new job opportunities

Comparing Odyssey And Circe s Power
In the Odyssey, we are introduced to a magical goddess known as Circe. She is the daughter of
Helios. Since Circe is a magical goddess, she has powers that can turn men into pigs. Her powers
are so strong that they place a hold on a man. In Circe by Carol Ann Duffy and Circe s Power by
Louise Gluck, readers can see two different sides of her. Duffy s version of Circe shows a side of
her that shows authority over men whereas Gluck s version shows Circe being heartbroken by
Odysseusand how she is feeling after he has left her.
In Duffy s version of Circe, we read about how she uses her power of turning men into pigs.
Within this poem, Duffy makes it clear that Circe is unforgiving towards men as she is roasting a
pig over a fire. She focuses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Gluck s version, readers see a different Circe who is admitting that she has used her powers on
Odysseus so he wouldn t leave her. As readers being the poem, you sense that she has sorrow and
hurt as she is reflecting on her relationship with Odysseus. According to the poem, which begins
with I never turned anyone into a pig. Some people are pigs; I make them look like pigs (1 3).
Circe is denying that she turned men into pigs because they are already pigs because of their
natural reaction toward women. She just shows how they are pigs because of their actions and
personality traits. Circe continues to tell Odysseus how she is tired of his world and how
everyone in his world lives their lives by stating I m sick of your world/That lets the outside
disguise the inside. (4 5) She is giving up on his world because she sees how the true world is
being hidden by a fantasy world. Circe goes on to say Your men weren t bad/Undisciplined life
/Did that to them. (5 7), this is where she decides that Odysseus men aren t bad but that their
lives they live caused them to act like pigs because of their actions. Then I reversed the spell,
showing you my goodness/As well as my power. (11 12) She flips her powers around making
herself sound innocent and righteous for admitting that she turned the pigs who were men back to
men. She wanted to show Odysseus that she isn t all evil and sadistic but

Five Most Important Events in U.S. History
First thing that I chose for my project is, 9/11. This was a dark time for all of America at the
time. 9/11 took place November 11, 2001. It was organized by 19 al Qaeda terrorists. The terrorists
hijacked 4 commercial planes. Two of the four headed to the World Trade Center while the third
headed for the Pentagon. After learning the actions of the three planes, the fourth crash landed in an
empty field somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. This is considered the largest number of fatalities
that were caused by a foreign attack that happened on American soil which resulted in almost 3,000
deaths. When the people of America found out the events, millions went to help fight and protect
against anymore attacks. Next I chose the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan project was a project
that brought the world into the nuclear age/era. In the year 1939, we learned that German
physicians had learned the secret to splitting the uranium atom. This was extraordinary. When
Albert Einstein fled to America, he brought information about the German s capability to create a
bomb capable of mass destruction. Einstein was accompanied by Erico Fermi, who escaped fascist
Italy. The two thought they should tell President Roosevelt. They wrote a letter to him urge him to
establish an atomic research project. Roosevelt agreed but didn t want everyone to know about it.
He called it the Manhattan Project. The main facility they built was in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Nearly two billion dollars was invested

Summary Of The Land Use Act In Nigeria
In, The Land Use Act, 1978 author J.K Agbosu considers the role of the act in the context of class
relations in Nigeria. Namely, Agbosu (1988) argues that The Land Use Act, 1978, is a product of
the inherent contradictions of the colonial and neo colonial dependent, pseudo capitalist. economic
structures established in Nigeria since colonial times (1). Agbosu furthers this argument by
proposing that the reason that the act, is in part contradictory to the norms of everyday Nigerians
is the failure of legislators to look beyond their own classed perspectives and consider, [a] solution
that not only abolished private ownershiprights in land but also abolished private ownership of
other means of production (1). Indeed, Agbosu takes a decidedly Marxist perspective in his
analysis of the law. However, the crux of the argument, which is that the post Colonial state offers
its citizens no new possibilities in its application of citizenship rights, is valuable to the discussion
of democracyin Africa. In his article, J.K Agbosu notes that the Land Use Act is in tension with
traditional conceptions of land within Nigeria. In the pre colonial era, in most societies, land was
viewed as communal property rather than a commodity; in other words, land was based around
kinship ties. The purpose of the Land Use Act is to divest communities, and their respective leaders,
of their shared role in the ownership of land and place it in the trust of the State. This shift in
authority is not inherently unjust, but as Agbosu notes the movement from communal to State
ownership does not act the groundwork for an equitable distribution of the land. Rather, the act
seeks to impose a Western capitalist ideology of land ownership upon indigenous peoples. This is
evidenced in the displacement of poor Lagosians in the 1990 destruction of the Maroko slum. The
state government used the Land Use Act to legitimize their claim to the communal land, thus,
forcibly moving thousands of low income migrants. The expropriated land was then given to a
prominent and wealthy royal family; an action that would seem to contradict the alleged purpose of
the act, which was to benefit all Nigerians (Ehirim Capitalism Central ). Moreover, while

Super High Me by Micahel Blieden
In this documentary, Super High Me directed by Michael Blieden, he gives an interesting
argument on how marijuana affects one individual. In this film, he shows that in one month,
while using marijuana, the negative mental and physical changes that take effect. For this
documentary, he chooses Doug Benson, a comedian who uses marijuana on a regular bases.
What he wanted Benson to do was not smoke for the first 30 days, then have him smoke
continues through the next 30 days. This film was made to tell people if they smoked marijuana
every day throughout their lives, it would affect their lungs but not do any mental damage. It s a
spinoff of Super Size Me, which was showing you how eating fast food for 30 days is bad for you.
Beforehand starting this experiment, Benson was not sober. The experiment timeline goes for 60
days. For the first 30 days he cannot smoke any marijuana. The next 30 days, he is required to
smoke marijuana everyday. Throughout the days, when smoking and non smoking, he will be
tested academically, physically, and psychologically.
This documentary was based off the movie Super Size Me, directed by Morgan Spurlock. In Super
Size Me; Morgan Spurlock eats McDonalds for every meal for 30 days. To see how fast food in
that amount affects the body. Doug smoked for 30 days straight, to see what would happen to him.
During the first 30 days, Doug was required to stay clean. Within the first week, he talks to his
audience on how difficult it has been not to

When Gavin Grimm started his sophomore year at Gloucester High School in the 2013 2014

his name to Gavin, identifies as a male and is to be referred to by male pronouns. When Gavin

complaints about it. As a result to the complains, the Gloucester County School Board was going
to put more privacy measures into the restrooms but after more complaints and with a vote of 6 1,
adopted a policy that states transgender students be allowed to only use unisex, single stall

Catoctin Mountain Review Essay
Introduction:
The National Park Service (NPS) and the U. S. Department of the Interior (USDI) drafted the
Catoctin Mountain National Park Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
(2006) to impart knowledge of a need for action to facilitate the regeneration of vegetation and
reforestation of the park. A population of white tailed deerthat was exceeding an estimated 100
individual animals per square mile was over browsing the vegetation. According to the EIS a
population of 15 to 20 individuals is optimal to protect herd health and allow regeneration of the
vegetation. The EIS listed four alternatives that were investigated in depth according to the National
Environmental Protection Act requirements (FHWA, n.d.) these... Show more content on

This alternative would reach the goals through the length of the plan. The reduction in deer
population would not be rapid and regeneration would be seen mostly in the exclusions until the
population had diminished and the plan cost is over $9.5 million. The preferred alternative,
alternative C was comprised of the continuation of alternative A with the use of sharpshooting and
the subduing and euthanization of deer to rapidly reduce the population to the goal range in three
years. Through this alternative the goals would be meet in a relatively short time frame at a cost
between $738,600 and $941,100. The final alternative, alternative D also continued alternative A
with the combination of sharpshooting, euthanization, and reproduction control. Alternative D
would meet the goals of the plan in a similar time frame as alternative C with a cost of between
$1.4 and $1.6 million.
Rejected alternatives:
Several alternatives were rejected for various reasons. The first rejected alternative was a managed
hunt, for the need of legislation change in congress to allow a hunt on NPS land and possible cost
and safety issues. A second was sterilization of bucks, which would only show moderate control of
the population if the dominant buck were sterilized. Predator reintroduction was next rejected,
because studies have shown that predators have not shown consistent

Pedophilia In Ancient Greece
Item #1: I was surprised to learn that the ancient Greeks practiced pederasty and were not
considered pedophiles. I never heard of the term pederasty, so I was unaware of the difference.
Ancient Greek pederasts were adult males, usually socially prominent, who have an erotic
attraction to adolescent boys. These men would take on an adolescent male pupil as a lover. Many
pederasts were bisexual because many were married while in homosexual relationships with
adolescent boys. These sexual relationships with adolescent boys would not interfere with the boy
s future heterosexual social role. What was really interesting to learn was pedophilia in Ancient
Greece was illegal. Pedophilia are paraphilic adults who have sexual interests in children.... Show

I thought someone could get syphilis by contacting a surface that an infected person touched.
Syphilis is almost always transmitted by unprotected vaginal, oral, anal sexual activity, or from
mother to newborn during delivery. It is usually transmitted when open lesions on an infected
person come into contact with the mucous membranes or skin abrasions of the partner s body
during sexual activity. It may also be contracted by touching an infectious chancre. In the primary
stage of syphilis, a hard, round, ulcer like lesion appears at the site of infection two to four weeks
after contact. A few months later, the secondary stage begins. A skin rash develops that darken after
a while and burst, oozing a discharge. The spirochetes continue to multiply and burro into the
circulatory system, central nervous system, and bones and may lie dormant for decades. Lastly, in
the tertiary stage, large ulcers may form on the skin, liver, digestive organs, muscle tissue, lungs, or
other organs which can be

Structure And Geometry Of Water Molecules Lab Report
Describe the structure and geometry of a water molecule, and explain what properties emerge as a
result of this structure.
Water is a polar molecule that can form hydrogen bonds. Four pairs of electrons in the outer shell
of the oxygen atom repel one another which gives the water molecule a tetrahedral shape. A water
molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The chemical features show some
properties as water, such as the ability of ice to float, the freezing and melting temperatures of
water, the ability of water to store heat, the formation of water droplets, and waters ability to
dissolve and not dissolve different substances.
List four characteristics of water that are emergent properties resulting from hydrogen bonding.

Using the bicarbonate buffer system as an example, explain how buffers work.
A buffer is a solution of a weak acid and its corresponding base. Buffers work by accepting
hydrogen atoms from solutions when they are in excess and donating hydrogen atoms when
drained. In the bioarbonate buffer system, the chemical equlibrium between carbonic and
bicarbonate act as a pH moniter. For example, When the H+ concentration starts to rise meaning
when the pH drops, the bicarbonate ion acts as a base and removes the unneeded hydrogen ions.
As for when the H+ concentration in blood begins to fall meaning the pH rises, more carbonic acid
separate which replenishes hydrogen ions.

Choices In The Whispering Town And Paper Clips
Every choice that everybody makes effects what happens to us and deciding to be Jewish had a
lot of consequences back in the 1940s. Millions of Jews died all because of the one decision that
Hitler made. The killing of Jews ended up leading to the killing of 24 million other people. In the
sources of The Book Thief, Eva s Story, children s literature and in the film Paper Clips, several
choices that key characters made affected how the Holocaustwas dealt with. In children s literature
every character has to make a choice for them to decide every story. In the book The Whispering
Town, a young girl named Anett made the choice to help out the Jewsthat she was helping out to

anyone in the neighborhood has smuggled in any Jews to hide. This is what the book said, We

I haven t heard any rumors, I said, trying to stop my voice from shaking (Elvgren 20). This is the

The production process consisted of three major stages; spring production, ring production, and
final production and assembly (Figure 5). Ring production required 5 major steps. The first step
consisted of taking powdered PTFE and mixing it. Subsequently the mixture was placed in an
oven where it was pressed under high pressure to form the desired shape. The shaped pipe was
then removed from the mold and cooked in a sintering oven to harden it. After sintering, the
sintered pipe was ground to the desired size and specifications. The completed seal blank was then
placed in the buffer inventory that was maintained before the computer numerically controlled

South Korea Research Paper
The sociocultural role of sport in the country, including any political implications
South Korea loves sport, sport is not only a popular physical activity but is a significant social
practice. Sport operates as an important cultural resource and produces and disseminates
nationalism. Indeed, in recent years, south korea has shown competence in hosting, playing, and
managing sport. South Korean athletes have created notable results at major international sport
events. For example, since 1984, the national Summer Olympic team has unfailingly been ranked in
the top 10 nations on the medal table, with the only exception being the 2000 Sydney Olympic
Games. The country has also produced a number of major world sporting events, including hosting

This has had profound implications in the development of Korean society. Soon after the
liberation from Japan in 1945, the peninsula was sectioned into two parts and 5 years later, civil
war broke out in 1950. This war ended in 1953 without a peace treaty, which means the two
countries still technically are at war. More than 50 years of division has influenced the culture and
national opinions of the Korean people. The two Koreas see each other as political and military
enemies, but they also see themselves as an ethnically homogenous nation. So there is a strong
desire on both sides of the fence to reunify so that a unified Korean nation state can be created. The
reunification of the nation is one of the largest political projects in both South and North Korea.
This ethnic nationalism allows for occasional cooperation between the two countries such as North
Korea and South Korea marching together for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics
and 2006 Turin Olympics. Sport in Korea has reflected these complicated relations. International
competitions created a symbolic battlefield between the two countries, at least until the 1980s.
North and South Korean governments invested heavily in developing skilled athletes and funded
part of the development of high performance sport in order to win more medals in international
games. This arms

Gender Inequality In Latin American Culture
Gender Inequality in Latin American Culture
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold details how Latin American culture lead
to the murder of the character Santiago Nasar caused by a series of events. Marquez s depiction of
the patriarchal society in the novel reveals the role of men and women. In particular, family, men
and women expectations, honor, and sex portrayed in the novel are further utilized to reveal the
inequalities between both groups.
Consequently, Marquez recounts the traditional family in Columbian culture to unveil gender
expectations. At the beginning of the novel, for instance, Santiago Nasar s family viewed Santiago
as a child of convenience who lived without a single moment of happiness . The pessimistic tone

that Pura Vicario and her husband accompanied [Angela] to watch over her honor when it was less

what ultimately leads her twin brother to seek revenge in order to restore her honor. The narrator
clarifies this by revealing that the twins were comforted by the honor of having done their duty .

Child Labor, a Global Problem with Local Causes Christopher King, Debra Hang Aguayo, India
Williams University of Phoenix It is hard to imagine that in 2009 that child labor still exists.
However, it is true that children all over the world are waking up and going to work instead of
going to school. As the gap between the rich and poor grows, more children will be forced to
give up school for work. Is there an answer to this problem that will lead to the elimination of the
dilemma? Has the practice been in place for so long that it has become so accepted that the there
is no viable solution? Is it possible to protect the children of the world by speaking up for those

Some other major factors that contribute to child labor include parental illiteracy, lack of
education, exploitation of cheap labor, family expectations and traditions, limited choices for
women and public opinion that downplays the risk of early work for children. Children are
often given employment because they are easier to exploit than adults are. Children are
considered powerless and paid much less than their parents who are often unemployed or
underemployed. Child labor is often considered a problem that only affects developing
countries, but child labor is a global issue. Asia, Africa and Latin America have the highest rates
of child labor, but the United States, Canada, Europe and other wealthy nations also employ a
small number of child laborers. Some of the most common jobs for child laborers include
domestic servants, factory workers, farmers and miners. In poverty stricken areas, it is not
uncommon for a child to desert school and begin work in order to provide for themselves and their
families. Boys often work in mines, farms and factories, while girls are trained in house duties and
sent off to become domestic servants. Domestic servants are especially at risk of becoming victims
of physical and sexual abuse by their employers. International economic trends have also increased
the amount of child labor in poor, developing countries. Debt, bloated military budgets and
structural adjustment programs imposed by the International

How Internet Has Changed Our Lives
In today s world Internet has become one of the most important mediums of communication. It has
become the lifeline of our survival. It has removed the entire social, economic and physical barrier
and has immense effect on our day to day activity.
The internet has given a new outlook to the way we do business. It has made the world look like a
small place because we can order or sell anything and everything around the globe. Internet has
become a boon for the upcoming companies as they can promote their new technology, their
brand name through the internet. Now net banking is possible in which we can directly check
our balance, open new account or can directly transfer the money in someone s account without
even going to the bank .We can pay all the bills and book the tickets online just by sitting at
home. There is no more need to stand in queue. We can shop online, compare all the clothing
brands just by sitting at home and we get the desired product within some days at our door step.
We can even return the product if we are not satisfied. The internet is used by companies to build
better relations with customer. We can send large chunks of data through email. Small part time
business have also become successful ,if someone is good at baking cakes so they can ship them
online and earn good amount of money for this. On the contrary, there are some risks doing
business on the internet. Our accounts, card detail can be at risk while making any transactions and

The Internationalisation Of Higher Education
The internationalisation of Higher Education is a mainstream focus, however a review of the
literature highlights issues of concerns to some scholars and researchers. Callan (2006) states that a
reading of the literature on the internationalisation, both European and world wide (particularly
North America) shows that.... the concept has been understood and applied in a highly variable
fashion (Callan,2006, p. 16). Kehm and Teichler (2007) concur, postulating that the
internationalisation of HE is fraught with strong political undercurrents embracing transnational
and off shore campuses and issues of cultural diversity and quality control (Kehm and Teichler,
2007, p. 261). Careful analysis of the literature would seem to support Knight s view that

Weighing the Right to Own an Embryo by Mike McKee
Writing to a Legal Audience Mike McKee s article, Weighing the Right to Own an Embryo,
made the front page of the Recorder, a daily legal newspaper published in San Francisco
reporting on legal advice and interests of attorneys and legal practitioners. How did he make his
article such a success? What made it front page worthy in the eyes of this legal audience? McKee
s article, Weighing the Right to Own an Embryo, appeals to a legal audience by presenting an
unbiased framework and evidence. One way McKee achieves this success is by framing his article
as a set of either or propositions. He presents three main issues: To Birth or Not to Birth, Contract v.

Kass, a case dealing with one party objecting the use of frozen genetic material to achieve
pregnancy of another party, as an introduction for his article. Providing the facts of this
controversial issue works very well in setting up the content of his article for the interest of his
reader. Other cases he repeatedly refers to are the Hecht v. Superior Court, Davis v. Davis, and
the Buzzanca surrogacy case. By using these court cases as examples, McKee is able to provide
unbiased facts as support in the content of his article. McKee also uses many quotations as
evidence throughout his article. He quotes only lawyers or field specialists qualified to discuss
and comment on the topic. He includes: Justice Earl Johnson, Jr; Yueh ru Chu, a former attorney
at the New York Civil Liberties Union; Leslie Shear, an Encino solo practitioner who specializes
in family law issues; Fourth District Justice David Sills; Joseph Gitlin, co chairman of the
American Bar Assosiation s genetics and reproductive technologies committee; and even the
Tennessee Supreme Court. By these references, he is able to provide the necessary ethos in
addressing his audience of legal practitioners. The ethos a writer brings to an argument is crucial
to the success in connecting with the audience; naturally a writer wants to present himself as
reliable and credible (Lunsford 308). McKee, having the status of an average reporter, quotes legal

Critical Analysis of CSR CSR is entwined in the strategic planning process of many multinational
organizations. The reasons behind social, human and environmental responsibility whether driven
by ulterior motives, enlightened self interest, or interests beyond the enterprise, is subjected to
much debate.
Some critics argue that corporations are fundamental entities responsible for generating a product
and service to gain profits to satisfy shareholders. Milton Friedman and others argue that there is
no place for social responsibility as a business function. These critics point to the rule of corporate
law that prohibits a corporation s directors from any activity that would reduce profits.
Disputed business motives Some critics believe that CSR programmes are often undertaken in an
effort to distract the public from the ethical questions posed by their core operations. An example of
such a company that had been accused of this motivation is British American Tobacco (BAT).
Self interest CSR critics argue that the only reason corporations put in place social projects is for
the commercial benefit they see in raising their reputation with the public or with government. They
suggest a number of reasons why self interested corporations, solely seeking to maximize profits,
are unable to advance the interests of society as a whole.
Other views from this perspective include: * Corporations really care little for

Upton Sinclair s Treatment Of Workers In The Jungle
Many people believe Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle to expose the harsh conditions of the meat
packing industry, which led to new federal food safety laws. This, however, was not the only point
Sinclair was attempting to portray in this novel. While industry was one of the points addressed in
The Jungle, another main point Sinclair wanted to get across to the public was that immigrants
were being treated very poorly in American society. By 1904, immigrants made up most of the
workforce of the meat packing industry, so they had to deal with all the conditions of the
workplace, including slim pay. These workers were crowded into small tenement apartments near
the slaughterhouse, therefore making living conditions incredibly poor for everyone.... Show more

How to Brand a Next Generation Product
Published: April 23, 2012 Author: Carmen Nobel Upgrades to existing product lines make up a
huge part of corporate research and development activity, and with every upgrade comes the
decision of how to brand it. Harvard Business School marketing professors John T. Gourville and

What Is The Weakness Of A Hotel Industry
3. SWOT ANALYSIS
3.1 Strengths
The first step to a SWOT analysis of hotel industry in India will be identifying its strengths. There
are more than 1000 classified hotels with a room availability of around 97,000 rooms which can
easily cope with the demand of tourists. Furthermore, there are also a number of international
names in the market which meet the needs of international tourists on their visit to India. In
addition, there are many tourist attractions and the cost of labor is low in comparison with the rest
of the world, thus, providing better margins for hotel owners and higher growth potential in the
industry (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012).

Next in line is assessing the weaknesses. One major restraint to the hotel industry of India is the

Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female prisoner held by
Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler
and his Nazi party had taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire
Jewish race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable and its very
strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first meaning is that
the word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David. Jewish people were forced to wear
them on their clothes to mark them out as targets of abuse and torment for ... Show more content on

The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are part of a mass
slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second stanzas. This
technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters / upright as statues and carry the
impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how the women are stood firm and even in the most
humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for her friend as
they are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and looking out for her friend
shows the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The following single word line, Fell is a
euphemism for the death of the woman and gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like
a literary bullet which is literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad . She gives
the word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should not forget what happened
there. Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity stays in our memory, we can avoid any
other mass, human caused disaster to reoccur.
Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive. Loosened / his
belt. This technique is used

The Beauty Of Motherhood And Breastfeeding
In this paper I will evaluate two artworks that share the same theme of motherhood and
breastfeeding. In the last few years, the sexualization of breastfeeding has become a big issue. This
is due to people see breast as sexual objects and think that women are being exhibitionist, and are
doing it just to flaunt their breasts in public. Breastfeedingmothers are faced with the public
criticism as they struggle to breastfeed their child, although it is the most natural and healthy
method of feeding. The first artwork is by Mary Cassattand is titled MotherRose Nursing her Child.
This painting was created in the 1900s and it depicts a woman breastfeeding her child. The
second piece is a contemporary portrait created by Catherine Opie titled Self Portrait Nursing.
The portrait depicts a modern mother also nursing her child. When comparing both of these
pieces of art I plan to focus on the beauty of motherhood and the bond between mother and child.
In this paper I will discuss the social issue of mother s being criticized for breastfeeding in
public. Now more than ever women s breasts are being overly sexualized when they are not a
sexual organ, but in fact a part of their body used to feed another human being. Mary Stevenson
Cassatt (May 22, 1844 June 14, 1926) was an American painter and printmaker. She lived most of
her adult life in France. She was born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, which is now part of

Coming To Our Senses By Neil Degrasse Tyson
Are our Senses Really Enough? In the scientifical essay Coming to our Senses, Neil deGrasse Tyson
explores how although humans have 5 senses, they are not enough for understanding the
complexity of the universe. The message Tyson is attempting to share is that scientists need
machinery and technology in order to discover the universe further. This ties back to the title of the
essay, Coming to our Senses, because he wants his audience to understand and realize the need of
technology. Tyson depicts this message with the use of persuasion, as well as text structure, which
allows his audience to clearly understand the message Tyson presents. Throughout the essay, Tyson

we need to come to our senses and understand technology is capable of understanding our

apprehend the significance of senses, whether from humans or technology. In the beginning of
the essay, Tyson inserts a quote from Edwin P Hubble, which explains how anyone with just
their 5 senses has the ability to explore the universe. Towards the end of the essay, however,
Tyson words it in the way he believes it should of originally be said, which is Equipped with our

TREATING INFORMATION PRIVACY DEFICIENCIES IN CYBERSPACE
Introduction
Scholars are divided on the fundamental question of the Federal Trade Commission s (FTC)
adjudicative capacity under the FTC Act. The FTC uses a reasonableness standard and considers
each company s data security practices on a case by case basis. For more than a decade, the FTC
s enforcement of data security actions invoked under В§5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act
(FTC Act) resulted in consent decrees and settlements, subsequently scrutinized by practitioners as
carrying as much precedential value as judicial opinions.
In 2015, the Third Circuit Court Appeals decision in Wyndham reinforced the FTC s authority to
pursue enforcement actions against companies that do not have reasonable data security practices.
Notwithstanding a motion to dismiss arguing that, inter alia, (1) the FTC lacks authority to
regulate under В§5 of the FTC Act and (2) the FTC failed to provide fair notice and of what
constitutes reasonable data security standards and (3) В§5 does not govern the security of payment
card data; Wyndham marked the first time federal courts held that the FTC has authority under В§5
of the FTC Act to enforce data security practices.
Equipped with Wyndham, the FTC s guidelines in providing information about what acts
constitutes unfair or deceptive practices carry more precedential force than ever before. Essentially,
the Circuit Court of Appeals holding in Wyndham affirms the FTC s discretion to

The Art Scene in New York City in the 60 s and Early 70s
Reflection circa 1973 was, grinding away best, an unobtrusively venturesome redesign on prior
models. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s
generally a gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an
option to painting. It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath
it, intended to reflect a world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A
ton of late execution workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration
Performa, has had very nearly the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse
primed.
Then, we can set out over to the execution art s beginnings in a sketchy yet engrossing archival
presentation, Customs of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New
Psychodrama Manhattan, 1970 1980 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
New York Cityin the early 1970s was a wreck: bankrupt, or everything except, and going into
disrepair. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in
the Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. An alternate was that, with
the workmanship showcase in the pits after the 1960s blast, there was a nothing to lose opportunity
to investigation.
Onto the scene came craftsmen who were as intrigued by dialect, theater, move, music, social work,

Malinowski a functionalist focuses on the psychological needs of individuals in times of stress.
Malinowski believes religion provides people with meanings in times of life crisis for example
death and funerals. Things such as funerals allow people to move on and minimise the
disruption to society. He argues that the idea of heaven provides people with a meaning of life.
This maintains the status quo as it allows people to get on with day to day life. Malinowski did a
study of the Troiband Island and he argued people use religion in times of uncertainty. He found
that when the people of the island went to out to fish they felt safe when they fished in the
lagoon they felt safe as they was close to home, However when they went to fish out in the sea
where the survival rate was low they would pray to god to keep them safe. This shows that
religion is a conservative force as it maintains the status quo because it allows people to forget their
problems and carry on with their every day life. Parsons another functionalist would ague that

Totalitarian Agriculture The idea of Totalitarian Agriculture is scary. Especially considering the
fact that it is the exact type of agriculture that is being used in every civilization except for the
remaining tribal peoples of the world. I will try to define Totalitarian Agriculture here: According
to an ethics, followed by every sort of creature within the community of life, sharks as well as
sheep, killer bees as well as butterflies, you may compete to the full extent of your capabilities, but
you may not hunt down your competitors or destroy their food or deny them access to food. In

Why totalitarian agriculture? You got me. It is really hard to knock Totalitarian Agriculture since
it is the foundation of our culture and the sustenance of our lives. If Totalitarian Agriculture were
to disappear tomorrow, then our culture would be obliterated by starvation. This is not so for the
remaining tribal peoples of the world. They are fully well capable of surviving on their own just
the same as humans have been since there were humans. Thinking about this further made me think
about the reasons for adopting this practice. Our culture practices working to grow and produce
food, locking it up, and then forcing people to pay to get it. before the agricultural revolution
10,000 years ago, humans had been living successfully as hunter gatherers for a hundred thousand
years, so asked myself what was the reason for this sudden mind change to the practice of
Totalitarian Agriculture? One answer is due to the vast amounts of food surpluses that are created
with totalitarian agriculture. This is part of the answer to the next reason for totalitarian agriculture,
which is power and expansion. The founders of totalitarian agriculture thought that their way to live
was the one right way for all humans to live. These vast surpluses of food enabled this culture to
expand into surrounding territories near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and use force to take the
land from tribal peoples. So now, the first generations of our culture putting

The Unknown Entities of PTSD in American Soldiers

things that a soldier can t simply learn. Training and development is treated as preparation for

Swofford never had to fire a shot in the gulf war, but war found its way into his mind. Many
soldiers today may not be waking up to a pool of their sweat due to nightmares about being fired

crucial. Once a soldier finishes his or her term of war and comes home for good doesn t mean
they have truly returned from war. A soldier brings back home nothing but the haunting
memories of war. This is the factor that continues to make living with PTSD so overwhelming.
Veterans may say, for me, there was no safe place, even my home (Phillips, 2014). Insecurity is
not the only aspect that overwhelms the mind, many other symptoms of the disease are just as
horrific. I couldn t close my eyes without envisioning the face of my attacker. I suffered horrific

effects of PTSD have caused a severe impact on even the most loving families and it makes it very

Research Paper On Health Insurance
Can everyone in the United States have a Health insurance? That is the big question. As we
know it s impossible to get treated in the hospital without health insurance because it s very
expensive. Let me talk about my story, when I have arrived to the United States at Arizona,
Tempe specifically, I got very ill because I have Asthma so I couldn t breath properly, so my
friend took me to St Luke Hospital in Tempe, the doctor gave me Oxygen mask only nothing
more. Then when I got better it s time to checkout so they gave me the bill and it was 2500 $, I
was choked with the price but I have realized that my insurance company will take care of it.
In fact, nearly 40 million Americans does not have health insurance, most of them can t afford the
price of the health insurance. This issue is leading to many deaths in the United States due to not
having a health care. So the question is, why poor people can not afford a health insurance? or
in other way, why it s very expensive to have a health insurance? The answer for the first
question is very simple, some people were born poor and they do not have jobs, and if some of
them have jobs they don t offer them a health insurance and their income is very low so they can t
buy their own health care. The answer for the second question is kind of complicated. Health

Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Haiti
In South Africa the first period up to 1910 indicated the establishment of schools, which were
mainly church schools, and the centre of a State system. According to Malherbe (1925:24),
education in the early days was haphazard and the nomadic people prevented the establishment of
permanent schools. Parents were responsible for hiring a schoolmaster who moved around with the
community providing tuition. Home instruction was therefore normal. Educationwas therefore a
private and local affair (Squelch, Private Education in South africa, 1997)
Public Education

to schools that charge fees. Some of these schools charge less than R1 000 a year. These... Show

responsible for the growing rift between the private school sector and the State, but since 2009, all

Afrikaans language schools are an exception, in that all subjects (other than other languages) are

America And The United Kingdom Essay
Stop leaving all this food. Don t you know that there are kids in Africa who are starving? This is
a common guilt trip of parents in First World countries to children who will not eat their dinner,
and so most in America and the United Kingdom are confronted with the reality of starving
countries early in life. The reminder to be thankful is usually common in households of all
socioeconomic statuses, and so the reality of poverty is often challenged even in households who
do not experience it head on, although they experience it indirectly. The cry of many church
bodies, charities, and political parties is for aidto and economic justice for the poor who are are
systematically disadvantaged. In summation, an individual who has grown up in First World
countries are, no matter the socioeconomic status, aware that world hunger, poverty, economic
justice, and individual responsibility are major and dire issues that affect the majority of the world
today. The purpose of this paper is to show the differences in viewpoints of America and the United
Kingdomin regards to these issues on both the national and individual level, and then discuss my
own. One of the most recent and most encompassing surveys on America s views on helping reduce
world hunger was (unfortunately) performed in 2001 by the Program of International Policy
Attitudes (PIPA). The study included focus groups from four states as well as a random selection of
901 adult Americans nationwide. The fact that

Rich And Poor Book Report
In The Politics of the Rich and Poor Phillips claims that the policies implemented during
President Regan s 1980 and 1984 terms enlarged the gap between the rich and the poor in which
the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Phillips states this book is about the redistribution of
power and wealth during the 1980 s: who got it, who lost it and through what policies (Phillips
1990). Phillips the uses the rest of the book the explain just that.
Phillips discusses the laissez faire policies put into place during the Regan terms to support his
claims. Laissez faire refers to political policies in which the government has little involvement. He
talks greatly about three policies that exemplify his claim: deregulation, tax cuts and globalization.

Environmental Influence On Native American Culture
Environment shaped the Native American culture. The Ice Age occurring 35,000 years ago shaped
oceans into glaciers, lowered sea level, and most importantly exposed the land bridge from Eurasia
(Siberia) to North America (Alaska). In this way, nomads (Asian Hunters) were able to cross the
American continent for 250 centuries and inhabit North and South America into countless tribes,
diverse cultures, and evolving over 2,000 separate languages. The difference of environment shaped
diverse Native cultures as those residing in the Great Plains (Pueblos) settled into agricultural
villages meanwhile tribes situated in mountainous regions (Iroquois) conformed to nomadic hunting.

Although strong tensions between the Natives and Europeans caused mass death over both
populations, other commodities can take the blame for the Native s demise. Alongside the animals
and plants Europeans brought from Europe, ominous germs were also carried in their travels to
the New World. This caused an epidemic of smallpox, yellow fever, and malaria within the Native
American population, who were not immune to the maladies. Within 50 years, 1 million of Taino
natives in Hispaniola dwindled to 200. A century after Columbus s arrival, over 90% of the Native
population died following ancient cultures that soon became extinct.
Natives provided laboratories for testing techniques, overwhelming the advanced natives of Mexico

The Secret Behind Food That People Eat
The number of consumers has now risen to 200, 000, 000, subjected everyday to a bombardment of
poisons in their food and drugs while lying at the mercy of respectable corporations (Fuller). While
the chefs and sou chefs cooked their customers orders, they thought nothing of it. They served it to
their customer and while that customer ate, one had an allergic reaction. The customer whose name
was Jorma Takala suffers from hyperactivity. Therefore, additives can be dangerous and companies
using them should do extreme testing before exposing it to the human population.

Even though the earth holds millions of people on it, this is a large number of catastrophes. People
should not have to die because of something like this. This number is increasing every year and
scientists and the FDA should do something about it. If not, the numbers of consumers will also
rise. The number of consumers annually differs from those being diagnosed with allergic reactions.
As they continue to rise, the numbers of people admitted to the emergency rooms are also
increasing. The FDA s attitude seems to be: Let consumers figure out for themselves how much of
which ingredients can make them sick. It s bad enough that people have to worry about allergic
reactions to peanuts, milk, and other conventional foods. In fact, it makes no sense for health
authorities to purposefully allow new unsafe ingredients into the food supply.
Types of safe food additives that have been used and known to not cause any health problems are
artificial sweeteners. These sweeteners are put in place of real sugar that can cause cavities. With
this in mind, the manufacturers using this just think that they could put these in their gums and
sugar free and no complaints will surface from anyone. This can be true to some people because
this is a safe additive, but don t think that because it doesn t cause many allergic reactions it is
totally safe. In fact, these are some food additives that manufacturers use in their foods when

most humans starts at a young age. Although the debate of Nature vs. Nurture in regards to
behaviorist reinforcement principles or universal grammar is used to stratify how child language
acquisition comes about, an old and strong theory proposed by Noam Chomskysuggests that the
ability to acquire a language is a natural and inborn phenomenon. He changed the world s
perspective by questioning behaviorist Burrhus Frederic Skinner s theory which at the time held the
simplest explanation believed to be most credible. First thing s first. What is language acquisition?

child is approximately 9 18 months where the pattern is single words: 50 or so common words in
the environment (Denham Lobeck, 40) . Usually the words produced by the subject are verbs and
nouns. Some of those verbs and nouns could be pronounced the same way the adult pronounces it,
although other words will sound distorted as shown in (1) and (2) below. Another pattern infants
tend to follow in this stage is that of overextension, where they stretch out the meaning of words,

Minority Report Ethical Issues
Minority Report is set in the year 2054 where a private company have supposedly solved the
problem of murder in Washington DC. The chosen theme that will be explored in this analytical
essay is ethics in the movie and mainly about the ethics of the pre cogs. There is an ethical theme
in this film because the pre cogs are constantly drugged to the point where they can only see future
murders and not the reality that surrounds them. How is it ethical to keep people basically
unconscious against their will? The people who set up the pre crime are using the principle of
utilitarianism; the sacrifice of a few to benefit many to justify using the pre cogs.

An Ethical Dilemma Of Tube Feeding
An Ethical Dilemma of Tube Feeding There are times that self determination has opposition with
the values and beliefs of health care providers. The five step ethical decision making model is in

paternalism is not the method used anymore. In relation to health care, paternalism manifests
itself in the making of decisions on behalf of patients without their full consent or knowledge.
(Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2008). Value systems, which includes a patients and family morals, play a

Universal Health Care Reform
Health care is a very expensive issue here in the United Sates and the current system is not
sustainable at its current state. Republicans for the last 8 years have tried to replace the current
system (ACA) with a more cost effective one, but this has been a daunting task.
Tom Price was confirmed as the secretary of human and health services. The Trump
administration was able to finally elect one of the leading figures in the opposition of Obamacare.
The political landscape has changed a lot since this confirmation and the uncertainty of the repeal
has led to the possibility of more progressive ideas. One of those ideas that has emerged is
universal health care as third a third way among voters in both parties. The GOP opposes this option,

In a CNN debate with Ted Cruz, Sanders brought up questions regarding the current system and
wondered why we continue to rely on premiums and why we continue to enrich insurers that are
unreliable. Although, Sanders is a representative of liberal and progressive ideas this idea of
universal health is becoming more mainstream with democratic and Republican voters. In a recent
Pew poll, the survey showed that 60 percent of respondents believed that the government should
be responsible of the coverage of all Americans. Other polls showed that low income Republicans
have shown support for universal health care and this comes as an opportunity for politicians in
both parties. From a Republican standpoint, this would complete the promise of repealing and
replacing Obamacare and it would also solve the problem of the disastrous exchange system. This
idea may be too liberal for most Republican politicians as it goes against party lines, but strong
support from the democrats and their constituents could alter some of the positions of Republican
politicians.
Democrats have less of a political risk in embracing universal health care as it is in line with
liberal ideology. This is very important as democrats can run as challengers to the incumbent
Republicans and seek to unseat them under the premise of Medicare coverage for everyone. This
would also put pressure on Republicans to move further to the center of the political spectra as the
fear of losing votes materializes from the massive effects of a complete

Duggan Grand Canyon University: NRS 430V 05/06/15 Differences in Competencies Between Associate and Baccalaureate Nursing Degree A survey was conducted with 102 graduates from an associate degree program. The data analysis discussed the graduates perception of their comfort level with leadership, delegation skills, management, professional identity and teamwork (Jones Mbewe, 2011). This paper will focus on the areas that the graduates felt inadequate and compare these areas to the focus and content of each program. It will also look at differences in nursing care approaches based on educational background. Survey Resulted in Low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ADPIE stands for assessment, diagnosis, patient plan, implementation and evaluation of the implementations. It was a very structured approach that has to be completed in the SBAR or ADPIE format. It had to be done in order and each area had to be completed. There was no creative approach allowed. Spiritualty was never part of any aspect of the process. There were times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section. For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I was marked down. If I added the patients spiritual needs in the format it would be crossed out because it did not fit the checklist. The nursing approach that was used in our program was based on theory we learned in lecture. We wrote care plans that included an assessment, structural variables, nursing diagnosis, goals, nursing interventions and evaluations. We were marked down if the interventions didn t match the nursing diagnosis or if there was insufficient assessments made to come up with a nursing diagnosis or goal. There was no delegation or leadership involved with our approach. It was structured and specific with little ability to vary from a nursing care approach that was taught. According to the (Nursing Fact Sheet, 2011) the additional classes in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bare metal stents (BMS) and drug eluding stents (DES) essentially have the same tube like structure and generally consist of the same metal alloy composition of the wires. However, unlike the bare metal stents (BMS), the drug eluting stents (DES) are coated with a polymer which holds and eludes a drug such as paclitaxel or sirolimus which aids in the inhibition of restenosis. http:/ /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug eluting_stent b. The stent is inserted into the artery by balloon angioplasty, to expand the vessel walls in order to return blood flow back to normal. There are two types of stents, bare metal stents and drug eluting stents. Once a BMS is inserted into the vessel, it become fully endothelialized.. However, The animation explains that in about 1/3 of BMS implants, restenosis occurs. On the other hand DES were developed to combat this issue. The polymer coating on the DES contains a drug which aids in the inhibition of restenosis. However, the endothelialization process for drug eluting stents has shown to be problematic, which can in time cause stent thrombosis, which can possibly lead to myocardial infarction. It is important to note that these stents should be used in patients how do not have complex coronary stenosis because the off label use is not completely understood and has a higher risk of ... • 4. The Role Of Advertising In The 1920 s During the 1920 s, advertisement has changed in many aspects of American culture. Although the concept of advertising has existed in the United States since the establishment of the thirteen colonies, the American advertisement became what it is today as in a result of the 1920 s. During that time, most of propaganda techniques, that were used in modern times, were officially established and perfected. However, advertisers find great accomplishments with the different techniques such as psychology of advertisement, brand consciousness, therapeutic ethic, and even the use of women image use on consumers that will master mind the advertisement culture. The two ads have a very different interesting factor of using women to sell their product by creating a psychological aspect to costumers so it will enhance their product of getting sold. Before advertisement became to effect tremendously in the American culture in 1920 s, Americans were going through ambivalence when they were categorized in functional groups such as the old middle class and the new middle class. The old middle class believed that hard work is good for the body and mind because Americans were working longer hours for less money compared to the new middle class that have great opportunities to work new jobs and have satisfaction doing the job while being paid well. • 5. Comparing Odyssey And Circe s Power In the Odyssey, we are introduced to a magical goddess known as Circe. She is the daughter of Helios. Since Circe is a magical goddess, she has powers that can turn men into pigs. Her powers are so strong that they place a hold on a man. In Circe by Carol Ann Duffy and Circe s Power by Louise Gluck, readers can see two different sides of her. Duffy s version of Circe shows a side of her that shows authority over men whereas Gluck s version shows Circe being heartbroken by Odysseusand how she is feeling after he has left her. In Duffy s version of Circe, we read about how she uses her power of turning men into pigs. Within this poem, Duffy makes it clear that Circe is unforgiving towards men as she is roasting a pig over a fire. She focuses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Gluck s version, readers see a different Circe who is admitting that she has used her powers on Odysseus so he wouldn t leave her. As readers being the poem, you sense that she has sorrow and hurt as she is reflecting on her relationship with Odysseus. According to the poem, which begins with I never turned anyone into a pig. Some people are pigs; I make them look like pigs (1 3). Circe is denying that she turned men into pigs because they are already pigs because of their natural reaction toward women. She just shows how they are pigs because of their actions and personality traits. Circe continues to tell Odysseus how she is tired of his world and how everyone in his world lives their lives by stating I m sick of your world/That lets the outside disguise the inside. (4 5) She is giving up on his world because she sees how the true world is being hidden by a fantasy world. Circe goes on to say Your men weren t bad/Undisciplined life /Did that to them. (5 7), this is where she decides that Odysseus men aren t bad but that their lives they live caused them to act like pigs because of their actions. Then I reversed the spell, showing you my goodness/As well as my power. • 6. Five Most Important Events in U.S. History First thing that I chose for my project is, 9/11. This was a dark time for all of America at the time. 9/11 took place November 11, 2001. It was organized by 19 al Qaeda terrorists. The terrorists hijacked 4 commercial planes. Two of the four headed to the World Trade Center while the third headed for the Pentagon. After learning the actions of the three planes, the fourth crash landed in an empty field somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. This is considered the largest number of fatalities that were caused by a foreign attack that happened on American soil which resulted in almost 3,000 deaths. When the people of America found out the events, millions went to help fight and protect against anymore attacks. Next I chose the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan project was a project that brought the world into the nuclear age/era. In the year 1939, we learned that German physicians had learned the secret to splitting the uranium atom. This was extraordinary. When Albert Einstein fled to America, he brought information about the German s capability to create a bomb capable of mass destruction. Einstein was accompanied by Erico Fermi, who escaped fascist Italy. The two thought they should tell President Roosevelt. They wrote a letter to him urge him to establish an atomic research project. Roosevelt agreed but didn t want everyone to know about it. He called it the Manhattan Project. The main facility they built was in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Nearly two billion dollars was invested ... • 7. Summary Of The Land Use Act In Nigeria In, The Land Use Act, 1978 author J.K Agbosu considers the role of the act in the context of class relations in Nigeria. Namely, Agbosu (1988) argues that The Land Use Act, 1978, is a product of the inherent contradictions of the colonial and neo colonial dependent, pseudo capitalist. economic structures established in Nigeria since colonial times (1). Agbosu furthers this argument by proposing that the reason that the act, is in part contradictory to the norms of everyday Nigerians is the failure of legislators to look beyond their own classed perspectives and consider, [a] solution that not only abolished private ownershiprights in land but also abolished private ownership of other means of production (1). Indeed, Agbosu takes a decidedly Marxist perspective in his analysis of the law. However, the crux of the argument, which is that the post Colonial state offers its citizens no new possibilities in its application of citizenship rights, is valuable to the discussion of democracyin Africa. In his article, J.K Agbosu notes that the Land Use Act is in tension with traditional conceptions of land within Nigeria. In the pre colonial era, in most societies, land was viewed as communal property rather than a commodity; in other words, land was based around kinship ties. The purpose of the Land Use Act is to divest communities, and their respective leaders, of their shared role in the ownership of land and place it in the trust of the State. This shift in authority is not inherently unjust, but as Agbosu notes the movement from communal to State ownership does not act the groundwork for an equitable distribution of the land. Rather, the act seeks to impose a Western capitalist ideology of land ownership upon indigenous peoples. This is evidenced in the displacement of poor Lagosians in the 1990 destruction of the Maroko slum. The state government used the Land Use Act to legitimize their claim to the communal land, thus, forcibly moving thousands of low income migrants. The expropriated land was then given to a prominent and wealthy royal family; an action that would seem to contradict the alleged purpose of the act, which was to benefit all Nigerians (Ehirim Capitalism Central ). Department of the Interior (USDI) drafted the Catoctin Mountain National Park Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) (2006) to impart knowledge of a need for action to facilitate the regeneration of vegetation and reforestation of the park. A population of white tailed deerthat was exceeding an estimated 100 individual animals per square mile was over browsing the vegetation. This alternative would reach the goals through the length of the plan. The reduction in deer population would not be rapid and regeneration would be seen mostly in the exclusions until the population had diminished and the plan cost is over $9.5 million. The preferred alternative, alternative C was comprised of the continuation of alternative A with the use of sharpshooting and the subduing and euthanization of deer to rapidly reduce the population to the goal range in three years. Through this alternative the goals would be meet in a relatively short time frame at a cost between $738,600 and $941,100. The final alternative, alternative D also continued alternative A with the combination of sharpshooting, euthanization, and reproduction control. Alternative D would meet the goals of the plan in a similar time frame as alternative C with a cost of between $1.4 and $1.6 million. Rejected alternatives: Several alternatives were rejected for various reasons. The first rejected alternative was a managed hunt, for the need of legislation change in congress to allow a hunt on NPS land and possible cost and safety issues. A second was sterilization of bucks, which would only show moderate control of the population if the dominant buck were sterilized. I never heard of the term pederasty, so I was unaware of the difference. Ancient Greek pederasts were adult males, usually socially prominent, who have an erotic attraction to adolescent boys. These men would take on an adolescent male pupil as a lover. Many pederasts were bisexual because many were married while in homosexual relationships with adolescent boys. These sexual relationships with adolescent boys would not interfere with the boy s future heterosexual social role. What was really interesting to learn was pedophilia in Ancient Greece was illegal. Water is a polar molecule that can form hydrogen bonds. Four pairs of electrons in the outer shell of the oxygen atom repel one another which gives the water molecule a tetrahedral shape. A water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The chemical features show some properties as water, such as the ability of ice to float, the freezing and melting temperatures of water, the ability of water to store heat, the formation of water droplets, and waters ability to dissolve and not dissolve different substances. More than 50 years of division has influenced the culture and national opinions of the Korean people. The Internationalisation Of Higher Education The internationalisation of Higher Education is a mainstream focus, however a review of the literature highlights issues of concerns to some scholars and researchers. Callan (2006) states that a reading of the literature on the internationalisation, both European and world wide (particularly North America) shows that.... the concept has been understood and applied in a highly variable fashion (Callan,2006, p. 16). Kehm and Teichler (2007) concur, postulating that the internationalisation of HE is fraught with strong political undercurrents embracing transnational and off shore campuses and issues of cultural diversity and quality control (Kehm and Teichler, 2007, p. 261). Careful analysis of the literature would seem to support Knight s view that Internationalisation is changing the world of Higher Educationand globalisation is changing the world of internationalisation (Knight,2004, p.5). Welch (2002) looks at the historical and economic background on globalisation and links this to the phenomenon of internationalisation of higher education. He summarises the works of authors including Sklair, Harvey and Giddens. The reasons behind social, human and environmental responsibility whether driven by ulterior motives, enlightened self interest, or interests beyond the enterprise, is subjected to much debate. Milton Friedman and others argue that there is no place for social responsibility as a business function. These critics point to the rule of corporate law that prohibits a corporation s directors from any activity that would reduce profits. Disputed business motives Some critics believe that CSR programmes are often undertaken in an effort to distract the public from the ethical questions posed by their core operations. An example of such a company that had been accused of this motivation is British American Tobacco (BAT). Self interest CSR critics argue that the only reason corporations put in place social projects is for the commercial benefit they see in raising their reputation with the public or with government. They suggest a number of reasons why self interested corporations, solely seeking to maximize profits, are unable to advance the interests of society as a whole. In the last few years, the sexualization of breastfeeding has become a big issue. This is due to people see breast as sexual objects and think that women are being exhibitionist, and are doing it just to flaunt their breasts in public. Breastfeedingmothers are faced with the public criticism as they struggle to breastfeed their child, although it is the most natural and healthy method of feeding. The first artwork is by Mary Cassattand is titled MotherRose Nursing her Child. This painting was created in the 1900s and it depicts a woman breastfeeding her child. The second piece is a contemporary portrait created by Catherine Opie titled Self Portrait Nursing. The portrait depicts a modern mother also nursing her child. When comparing both of these pieces of art I plan to focus on the beauty of motherhood and the bond between mother and child. • 32. Coming To Our Senses By Neil Degrasse Tyson Are our Senses Really Enough? In the scientifical essay Coming to our Senses, Neil deGrasse Tyson explores how although humans have 5 senses, they are not enough for understanding the complexity of the universe. The message Tyson is attempting to share is that scientists need machinery and technology in order to discover the universe further. This ties back to the title of the essay, Coming to our Senses, because he wants his audience to understand and realize the need of technology. Tyson depicts this message with the use of persuasion, as well as text structure, which allows his audience to clearly understand the message Tyson presents. Throughout the essay, Tyson describes the importance of technology through persuasion and how our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking back to the title, we need to come to our senses and understand technology is capable of understanding our surroundings much more easily than humans. Tyson arranges his essay in a way so readers can apprehend the significance of senses, whether from humans or technology. In the beginning of the essay, Tyson inserts a quote from Edwin P Hubble, which explains how anyone with just their 5 senses has the ability to explore the universe. Towards the end of the essay, however, Tyson words it in the way he believes it should of originally be said, which is Equipped with our five senses, along with telescopes and microscopes... we explore the universe and call the adventure science. Tyson adjusts the quote this way because it easily proves the point he is making throughout the essay. The use of text structure demonstrates Tyson s position and causes the reader to understand his purpose of writing this essay. You can see it as a plot twist since at first, the reader most likely believed the essay will describe the importance of our 5 senses, but in reality, the essay portrays the urgency of involving ... TREATING INFORMATION PRIVACY DEFICIENCIES IN CYBERSPACE Introduction Scholars are divided on the fundamental question of the Federal Trade Commission s (FTC) adjudicative capacity under the FTC Act. The FTC uses a reasonableness standard and considers each company s data security practices on a case by case basis. For more than a decade, the FTC s enforcement of data security actions invoked under В§5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC Act) resulted in consent decrees and settlements, subsequently scrutinized by practitioners as carrying as much precedential value as judicial opinions. In 2015, the Third Circuit Court Appeals decision in Wyndham reinforced the FTC s authority to pursue enforcement actions against companies that do not have reasonable data security practices. Notwithstanding a motion to dismiss arguing that, inter alia, (1) the FTC lacks authority to regulate under В§5 of the FTC Act and (2) the FTC failed to provide fair notice and of what constitutes reasonable data security standards and (3) В§5 does not govern the security of payment card data; Wyndham marked the first time federal courts held that the FTC has authority under В§5 of the FTC Act to enforce data security practices. Equipped with Wyndham, the FTC s guidelines in providing information about what acts constitutes unfair or deceptive practices carry more precedential force than ever before. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s generally a gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an option to painting. It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath it, intended to reflect a world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A ton of late execution workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration Performa, has had very nearly the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse primed. Then, we can set out over to the execution art s beginnings in a sketchy yet engrossing archival presentation, Customs of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New Psychodrama Manhattan, 1970 1980 at the Whitney Museum of American Art. New York Cityin the early 1970s was a wreck: bankrupt, or everything except, and going into disrepair. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in the Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. An alternate was that, with the workmanship showcase in the pits after the 1960s blast, there was a nothing to lose opportunity to investigation. If Totalitarian Agriculture were to disappear tomorrow, then our culture would be obliterated by starvation. This is not so for the remaining tribal peoples of the world. They are fully well capable of surviving on their own just the same as humans have been since there were humans. Thinking about this further made me think about the reasons for adopting this practice. Our culture practices working to grow and produce food, locking it up, and then forcing people to pay to get it. before the agricultural revolution 10,000 years ago, humans had been living successfully as hunter gatherers for a hundred thousand years, so asked myself what was the reason for this sudden mind change to the practice of Totalitarian Agriculture? One answer is due to the vast amounts of food surpluses that are created with totalitarian agriculture. This is part of the answer to the next reason for totalitarian agriculture, which is power and expansion. The founders of totalitarian agriculture thought that their way to live was the one right way for all humans to live. These vast surpluses of food enabled this culture to expand into surrounding territories near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and use force to take the land from tribal peoples.
