Assimilation Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of assimilation poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly, one
must navigate through the intricate layers of this multifaceted concept, which involves the
integration of individuals or groups into a new cultural or social environment. Assimilation is not
a one-size-fits-all process; it varies across contexts, encompassing aspects such as cultural,
linguistic, and social assimilation.
The complexity deepens as one delves into the historical and sociological dimensions of
assimilation. Analyzing the experiences of different communities or societies, understanding the
power dynamics at play, and examining the repercussions of assimilation on individual identity
require careful consideration and nuanced exploration.
Furthermore, the topic demands a balanced approach. While acknowledging the potential
benefits of assimilation, such as fostering social cohesion and unity, one must also address the
concerns related to the loss of cultural diversity and the potential erasure of unique identities.
Striking the right balance and presenting a well-rounded perspective can be a daunting task.
Research plays a pivotal role in the essay-writing process, and assimilation, being a topic with
vast implications, requires a comprehensive understanding of various scholarly works, historical
accounts, and contemporary examples. Synthesizing information from diverse sources while
maintaining clarity and coherence adds another layer of difficulty to the task.
Additionally, expressing one's thoughts articulately and persuasively is crucial when delving into
the complexities of assimilation. Ensuring that the essay flows seamlessly, transitions between
ideas are smooth, and arguments are logically structured can be a time-consuming and
intellectually demanding process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on assimilation involves grappling with intricate concepts,
navigating historical and sociological nuances, maintaining a balanced perspective, conducting
thorough research, and presenting ideas coherently. The challenge lies in doing justice to the
complexity of the topic while engaging the reader with a thought-provoking and insightful
exploration.

Advertisements that Glorify Violence Against Women
Advertisers have countless subtle ways of presenting advertisements to sell products,
but a lot of these advertisements may go way beyond the selling of products.
Advertisements with regard to violent sexual scenes against women may actually be
sending subliminal messages that violence is okay. Looking at these advertisements,
it is not hard to see that there is a deeper meaning behind them than to just sell a
product. With Sexual and violent Advertisements we may even be able to make the
statement that rape, sexual assault and violenceis alive and thriving in our society.
Americans along with Europeans are being desensitized by the vast amount of violent
advertisements. Advertisements that convey startling portrayals of women being...

Unfortunately, a few angry viewers will not stop advertisers from using violent
advertisements to sell their products. In this next advertisement the viewer is
shown the aftermath of what looks to be a woman who was assaulted. A Victim of

Bulgarian magazine 12. The magazine sells clothing from H M, Label and
Capasca. This startling image shows a woman in a red top with red lips, her hair
and makeup done to perfection while sporting a single black eye. Have advertisers
in our society really lowered its values to the emotional sadness of seeing victims of
abuse just to sell clothing? The lower caption in the ad translates from Bulgarian to,

empathy in all people. The color red that is usually seen as a powerful color, no

Narrative Essay On Camp Snoopy
The first time going to camp snoopy was a huge deal because I was only 4 years old.
I was with my close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my
mom and grandma. When we were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it
was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear hear squeal of kids screaming, and the
rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the elegant peanutsswing.
When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth breeze
of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I
didn t want to go on the shooting star so my cousins went on the shooting star and

When we got in line for the log Chute the sun was still shining, after we got in line
all I heard was water splashing everywhere from the log chute coming down the
monster hill. The line felt like a mile long, the scary thing was we kept going into the
abandoned cave, every step it got darker and darker. We advently saw a pinch of
sun before it went away, and then we were first in line. So me, my mom, and Sam
stepped into the log chute. Then we started to float down the stream and then we
took hard right and slowly went the lift and all you could here was click clack,
click clack, click clack. Once off the lift we hit some rapids and we went by the
home run chair; then all a sudden we went down the hill after the drop my heart
was racing. Then we went up another lift to go to the massive drop my heart was
racing, my stomach felt like it was going to explode. Then we went straight down,
and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till this day the log
chute is one the scariest rides at Camp Snoopy because your just sitting in the log
chute, so you have to girl the metal bar for my life.I felt that then and a I feel it
Supernatural As Describe By Merriam Webster
Supernatural as describe by Merriam Webster is of or relating to an order of
existence beyond the visible observable universe; of or relating to God or a god,
demigod, spirit, or devil departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to
appear to transcend the laws of nature: attributed to an invisible agent (as a ghost or
spirit). As for me, I am talking about Supernatural, a television show on the CW
channel that was created by Eric Kripke. Starting in 2005, Supernatural has had me
contemplated and in love with Sam and Dean Winchester. This show is based on
religion coming from old testament to new testament to other gods and religion
proffer such as demons, angels, God, Lucifer, Zeus, and many much more gods and
mystical creatures. Although there is much to write on this show, I have chosen to
write on the two main characters and how they each fall in a sort of religion aspect
and will give a brief history on the show with their symbols, signs, Archangels, Angels
and Demons, and some other fun stuff of the show.
The adventure begins the night Mary was killed by the green eyed demon leaving
John to raise Sam and Dean. John did not understand why the demon went after his
family, so he decided to go after the demon and has been chasing it since 1983.
2005 that s where the show really begins when Dean goes looking for Sam at
college in order for Sam to help him look for their father, who has gone on a hunting
trip and hasn t return from it. John and Sam were
Carlos Williams Spring And All
In this explication, I will be explaining the poem Spring and all. The poem which
was written by Mr. William Carlos Williams, Born in the year of 1883 and
deceased in the year of 1963. Williams s health began to decrease following a heart
attack in 1948 and multiple strokes, but he continued to writing until which he died
in New Jersey on March 4, 1963. Mr. Williams obtained numerous crafts and
professionals poet, essayist, playwright, and novelist, said to be one of the
principal poets of Imagist movement. He went to college and received his MD
from the University of Pennsylvania. To begin, in the poem, someone stopped by
the side of a road which in the same direction to a hospital, and they are looking at
the landscape. This person starts describing the scene; he states that he witnessed
dead plants that cover everything in the final stages of winter. You should know it
is understood that Williams acquired his living as a doctor. We are not sure if this
poem is primarily about an experience he had, but more than likely he would have
been accustom to hospitals. Second, the poem is based on a very remote and dull
setting; he explains how he was in a location where there was a handful waste of
broad, muddy fields, brown with dried weeds, standing and fallen... Show more

The title of the poem was spring and all , however, what he witnessed on the side
of the road far from the characteristics of the weather in spring. Spring is very vivid,
bright and beautiful. He explained that the surroundings were very dull, muddy and
extremely understandable. The way he described his surroundings were as if he
pulled over in a ghost town. The primary meaning of the poem was about a guy on
his way to the hospital, and he is observant, comparing spring to the birth of a
Doctor Mckee Character Model
The movie I selected for my case study was The Doctor released in 1991. The main
character, Dr. McKee is a well renowned Heart surgeon. His character is portrayed
as a very self centered person who shows zero empathy towards his patients. His
lack of empathy was seen multiple times in the beginning of the movie; for
instance, when one of his patient ask him a question related to her scars after her
open heart surgery, was ridiculed by Dr. McKee. On another occasion, when group
of interns asks him if he shows emotions towards his patients, he replies by saying
you go in, you cut and that s all . The entire hospitalenvironment appeared to be
based on a physiciancentered model rather than patient centered model. Dr. McKee s

Mr. Quiring In The Novels
All the appearances of characters in any novels have their different roles developing
their novels, even a minor appearance. Mr. Quiring in the novel a complicated
kindness is not exceptional. Although he rarely appears in the novel, but plays a
crucial role to promote the protagonist, Naomi.
Mr. Quiring, a teacher gives Nomi the ideas and the lessons which she hard
forgets. Mr. Quiring is a teacher who always prepares carefully before his class,
which can be considered by his student, Naomi. She knows that he practices what
he plans to do in class, every story must have a beginning, middle, and end (p. 243,
Toews). Moreover, due to his knowledge and life experience, he has a great influence
on Naomi who is disappointed on him. Naomi told to her dad what Mr. Quiring

Quiring in a complicated kindness is to provide Naomi with ending (p. 243, Towes).
In the beginning of the novel, he helped Naomi shape the ending when she got
problem with ending. The ending is quite out of the writer s control, which people
just know when it happens (p. 1, Towes). The assignment essay which Mr Quiring
gave to Naomi is like a metaphor of her problem she is struggling with to find its
ending. According to Heath, the whole novel is an assignment that she had
difficulty in what to write, especially in its ending (p. 223). When she was still
stuck in the way to finish her schoolwork, to say goodbye to her town, and
especially to live in her way, Mr. Quiring tried to guide her to find the answer by
asking her to imagine what will happen when she closes her eyes. In other words, he
wanted to let her draw her dream future her ending she desires. Finishing the
assignment with its endings simultaneously opened her endings for her family. That is
a reason why she said Mr Quiring provided her family with ending. Therefore,
shaping Naomi s ending is one of the most indispensable role of Mr. Quiring in the
Fire In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding demonstrate while the boys are
on the island the conch, fire, and the beast are shown in many significant ways
which help develop their newly society. The book starts out as a plane crash on the
island which a few people had survived. Throughout the story they all try to be
rescued by using fire on top of the mountain so that boats passing by can see that
there s people on the island in the middle of nowhere that need help. In the
beginning of the book Ralph had seen a creamy, and shiny looking shell among the
reefs. Piggy and Ralph worked together to unravel it. Piggy realized and told Ralph
that the shell makes a noise if you blow into it. The boys then though that We can
use this to call the others. Have a meeting (Golding,16). They used the shells to
gather all the boys together so they can talk to form their society. The shell
represented a few things in matter such as leader, power, civilization, and order. If
you were the one holding the conch then you were the one to speak and be heard
from the rest of the tribe. By the end of the book a boulder was was rolling down the
mountain and ralph ended up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

tried to help the other boys realize that there was no such thing as a beast . When
the boys spot the dead paratrooper on the mountain they were terrified and thought
that they had proof of the beast knowing that he was killed. As simon keeps trying
to explain that the beast isn t real simon ends up dieing from the boys in his tribe.

Essay about The History of Guns in America
The History of Guns in America
What is the importance of the gun? The gun is one of the most important tools in
the defense of our nation. Guns are responsible for a lot of death and injuries, but
these things were going on before the existence of the gun. Guns aren t the reason
for the death and injuries, they are just a means to it. They are tools and an
engineering marvel of our age. The gun has evolved from a simple weapon that
caused limited destruction to the modern gun that is so fast and powerful it is
capable of mass destruction. Through the evolution of the gun, it has become a
political tool.
The first guns used in America were a simple machine where the person did most of
the work. The user measured and put the powder ... Show more content on

Early bullets were designed to be placed in this new loading system. The classic
way of having the powder and pellets separate was too slow and messy. This early
design of the bullet is very similar to the simple modern one. It had a metal casing
with powder placed behind the pellets or in some cases one large pellet (Hogg 54).
With these being loaded from the side on the new rifles they were capable of firing
a shot much faster then the gun of a hundred years earlier. Even though the gun had
become more powerful the Civil War was still a political war.
Next, the first truly automatic gun was invented and that was the Gatling Gun. It was
built back in the late 1880 s and was capable of firing hundreds of shots per minute.
Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling took the ideas others of a fully automatic gun to the
next step and made it work well. His gun had a constant feed of bullets that did not
stop firing until its cartridge was empty. The gun used several barrels so that none
of the barrels would overheat from constant use (Hogg 85 86). It was however a
stationary gun. His gun was a great success. It was the first automatic weapon and
was first one capable of killing mass numbers.
Next in the development of machine guns came the Maxim, the machine gun with
only one barrel. This gun with a belt of bullets that fed in one side and the empty belt
came out the other side. It used the explosion from the bullets firing to load the next
bullet. With the use of different

1930s Music Research Paper
Music in the 1930s
During the deepest economic downturn in the United States, the Great Depression,
music and dancing made people forget the hardships of their daily lives. Research
shows that listening to music can improve your mood. Music has been used as a
therapy for centuries, especially in the 1930s ( How Music Changes Your Mood ).
Popular music during the 1930s included many upbeat and fun genres like swing, jazz
, and country/western.
The exciting sound of swing music is portrayed from its strong rhythm section of
double bass and drums. This is used as the anchor for a lead section of brass
instruments, woodwinds, and sometimes stringed instruments. Swing often uses
medium to fast tempos and a swing time rhythm ( Music ... Show more content on

The origins of country music were the folk music of mostly white, working class
Americans. According to Sean Dooley who contributed to The History of Country
Music , they blended popular songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional
ballads, cowboy songs, and various musical traditions from European immigrant
communities. In the 1930s, radio and recordings had begun to popularize the new
style, renamed as country and western . It included country, gospel, bluegrass,
cowboy musicals, brother and sister duets, and western swing (Dooley). The flip
side of country music was jazz. Country musicians began recording boogie in
1939, shortly after it was played at Carnegie Hall. This was also when Johnny
Barfield recorded Boogie Woogie . The start of what was initially called hillbilly ,
boogie , or okie boogie became much more popular in late 1945 ( Music in the
1930s ). Another type of country music with a variety of moods included honky
tonk. Honky tonk was a basic ensemble of guitar, bass, steel guitar, and drums. It
became widespread among poor whites in Texas and Oklahoma. Honky tonk had
its roots in western swing and ranchera music of Mexico (Dooley). Rockabilly was
most common in the 1950s among country fans. 1956 was called the Year of
Rockabilly in country music. Rockabilly was a mixture of hillbilly and rock and
roll ( Music in the 1930s ). During the era, Elvis Presley converted over to country
music and played a huge role in the music industry. Barn dance shows featuring
country music were started all over the South, as far north as Chicago, and as far
west as California. The most important was the Grand Ole
Shrew And 10 Things I Hate About You Comparison
The Shrew In You
There are many similarities and differences between The Taming of The Shrew and
10 Things I hate About You. The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of
The Shrew was actually written by William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate
About You is not written by William. The language in the two is a little different
though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that the main characters are
the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming of The
Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is
the second play that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About Youwas filmed
in 1999. The movie was directed by Gil Junger and was released on March 31,
1999. Although the film was later released and the name was changed it still has
the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. So the movie and play were basically the
same except 10 Things I Hate About You is more modern than the original play. The
language between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You is
completely different. In the play the language is older and harder to understand due
to the style of it. In the movie the language is actually a lot easier to understand

Katarina, Kate, and Bianca both have the same personality in the play and movie.
They are constant and rarely ever change. Bianca and Kate are still completely
opposites in both the play and movie. Kate is unpredictable and unpopular. Bianca
is very predictable and popular; she is someone that we would call a blonde. Kate is
commonly misunderstood because of her choice to be different and stand out. I
would have to say though in both The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate
About You she ends up being my favorite character. In the movie she actually has a
good heart throughout the whole thing, some people just aren t able to understand

T-V-Pointer Experience
Firstly I would like to start off by mentioning I am an Engineer so my week was
different than the rest of my shipmates however, I think the trip was an invaluable
resource, especially as a senior, keeping my skills sharp for the merchant fleet I
will soon be joining. Every time I take a trip on the T/V Kings Pointer I am
impressed at how my shipmates and I are able to safely navigate and operate a
vessel. This is a true testament to the education we receive at the Academy and
during our time at Sea. With great weather, our time in Virginia was just as
impressive when pulling into Norfolk harbor. Seeing the stern of the USS
Wisconsin, as a relic of one of the greatest vessels our American Shipyards have
produced, was just icing on the cake compared to the Countless US Naval
destroyers and cruisers and aircraft carriers we passed while transiting the
Chesapeake bay and Elizabeth river. The best part of it all was seeing the US
Merchant fleet at its finest with the bustling ports of the tidewater... Show more

In particular, I was able to put in to practice knowledge I learned about overhauling
pumps and working against a clock while trying to get the stern thruster in a capacity
where it could be used for DP operations. The maintenance task became more
challenging when things didn t go as planned, but as an engine department we
adapted to the situation and came up with a solution that was ultimately better than
the initial plan. The US Merchant Marine Academy is defiantly a unique experience
and it is not just for anyone. Trips like the ones that take place on the T/V Kings
Pointer require midshipman that are diligent, committed, and personable in a close
quarters environment but at the same time our ability to stay composed under
pressure and perform exceptionally well is what sets a true Kings Pointer
Esterification Lab Report
Jack Kelly
Experiment 2: Esterification
Organic Chemistry II Lab
CH224 53
Dr. Kwan
Introduction Experiment 2 involves an esterification reaction, shown in figure 1.
Each student was given an unknown, which consisted of an acid and alcohol mixed
together. The unknowns all had low molecular weights, causing them to have a strong
odor. For this reason, the unknowns were only supposed to be opened under the hood,
so that no strong scents were sitting in the lab. Each unknown was heated and mixed
with concentrated sulfuric acid, producing an ester and bi product of water, which can
be seen in figure 1 as well. The ester was purified through distillation, and the
components were separated during the distillation ... Show more content on

The experimental boiling point from distillation was compared to the literature
value, having an experimental value of 121 122В°C. the literature value of the
boiling point for Isopropyl Isobutyrate is 121В°C, which matches almost exactly
with the experimental value. The boiling point range for the ester itself was not
very large, although it did take a little bit of time for the temperature to rise. Once
the temperature rose, it leveled and was very consistent at 122В°C. the next value
used for identification was the refractive index. The experimental refractive index
was found to be 1.392, which is slightly different from the literature value of 1.421.
This could be due to human error or a misread in the refractive index itself.
Although the literature value from Dr. Kwan says 1.421, the literature value on
Sigma Aldrich gives a literature value of 1.388, which is much closer to the
experimental refractive index, assuring that it is the correct identity of the unknown.
The slight difference between the values may be due to an impurity that was left
inside of the ester at the time of the reading. Once the refractive index was
compared, the melting point of the 3,5 dinitrobenzoic acid compared. The
experimental value was found to be 120 123В°C, while the literature value was
found to be 123В°C. This value is exact to the literature, showing that the unknown
was extremely pure since it had a small range for its melting point and matched the
literature value. There was a decent amount of solid formed in the final portion of the
experiment. After reading the unknown, it was proven that the unknown was
Isopropyl Isobutyrate. NMR as a system shows the number of signals of how many

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rhizoctonia
1.1 Introduction of Rhizoctonia solani and its Anastomosis Groups
The soilborne Basidiomycete fungus Rhizoctonia solani KГјhn [telomorph=
Thanatephorus cucumeris] is reported to cause economically important diseases on
vegetables, fruits, staple crops and ornamental plants throughout the world (Jones
and Belmar, 1989; Naito et al., 1995; Yang et al., 1990). The systematic of R. solani

their hyphal connection between single spore homokaryotic cultures. In AGs 1 and 4,

genes which together referred as H factor. Paired homokaryons that carry H factor

controlling nuclear pairing stability of heterokaryon. On account of these findings,
Adams Butler (1982) have suggested heterokaryon incompatibility factors in
T.cucumeris are the same as sexual incompatibility factors. Anderson stated that
sexual vegetative incompatibility is same and reciprocal with each other. Sexual

Information Communication Technology And E-Learning
In...
Today, new technologies including information communication technology (ICT) and
e learning have become the driving force in the education sector in Kenya. E
learning is important in helping people to access education easily. It allows learners
to carry out their daily activities and learn at the same time.
In the modern world, lifelong learning is becoming an important concept. In this
context, people have to advance their skills to fit in the dynamic work places. E
learning allows one to advance their skills without taking long work leaves.
As the African society continually embraces modern technology, traditional forms of
pedagogy in higher learning institutions are failing to meet societal needs.
The Situation of e Learning in East Africa
The rise of mobile technology in Africa has become one of the most revolutionary
steps in the recent technological growth. Many people are now using smartphones
and other handheld devices. Major communication companies like Safaricom and
Telkom Kenya are providing a stable connection to the internet.
The Kenyan government has also made a major step in installing fibre optic
connections to major cities across the nation. Thus, fast and stable internet connection
has motivated many people to embrace e learning as a new method of learning.
E learning policies in the Kenyan universities are at its infant stage. The majority of
these institutions lack senate approved e learning policies to guide the needed
structured implementation.
jane austen Essay
Jane Austen lived from 1775 until 1817, a span of four decades that saw significant
changes in English social, political, and economic life. At the time her birth, England
was embroiled in a bitter struggle with its American colonies, the loss of which,
several years later, proved to be a tremendous blow to English political and military
prestige. Under the rule of George III, England s political climate became increasingly
unstable with constant struggles between the King and Whig politicians. Ireland
received its independence in 1782, although the violence that had long plagued the
country continued to rage. Across the Channel, the French Revolution had begun and

Bath, where Jane s family moved after her father s retirement in 1801, provided
Austen with a different view of 19th century social customs. Although her family s
social standing did not enable her to travel in the most elite circles, she was a
frequent visitor to Assembly Room events and made regular trips to the Pump
Room, another of the city s centres of social life. Bath serves as the locale for
scenes in two novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, and both draw heavily on
her experiences there. Jane apparently used her time in Bath primarily to gather
material for future novels, or to infuse into revisions of her previous ones; she did
not begin any of her six novels during the five years she lived in Bath.
Although Jane s travel experiences never took her out of the immediate area, she
travelled quite a bit within the South of England. During the years they lived in
Bath, she and her family often spent intervals of time at the seaside most often the
beaches on the Devon and Dorset coasts. These locales worked their way into her
writing, as did most others with whom Jane came into contact. Pride and Prejudice,
in particular, contains scenes based directly on her experience in the small fishing
village of Lyme Regis, which she uses as the scene of Louisa Musgrove s frightening
fall.
After her father s death in January 1805, Jane, her mother, her sister Cassandra, and
family friend Martha Lloyd, moved first to Clifton, and then, in autumn 1806, to

Faith, Family, And Religious Freedom
The family is fading. Religion is falling. Faith is failing. The first right in the First
Amendment, the right to the free practice of religion, is being viciously attacked by
the citizens of America. The traditional family an ideal so simple and fundamental
that, twenty years ago, any alteration to it would be unfathomable is now being
challenged. Times are changing; society is changing. Among others, Elder Jeffrey R.
Holland addresses this change in his speech, Faith, Family, and Religious Freedom.
In this lecture given at Chapman University in 2015, he focuses on that trend in
today s society: faith, family, and religious freedom, or, more accurately, the decline
in it. Traditional family valuesand religionhave degraded at an astonishing rate, he
claims; the fact that he devoted an entire speech to the topic proves the severity of
said trend. Elder Holland builds common ground, quotes credible sources, and shows
irrefutable facts and statistics to effectively convince his religious listeners that action
must be taken to prevent the disappearing freedoms of faith, family, and religion, else
disastrous consequences take place.
Part of the reason Elder Holland eminently convinced his audience that the decline in
family values is an issue was how he established a solid common ground from which
they could each relate. In a crowd so religiously diverse, in order to be truly effective,
a sense of unity must be achieved and maintained throughout the entirety of the event

A Time to Kill
Argumentative Paper
In the movie A Time to Kill, an adolescent girl named Tonya Hailey is brutally
battered, raped, and left for dead in a small southern town by two white supremacist
men; Billy Ray Cobb and James Louis Willard. As she is walking home, a car
approaches; two gentlemen confront her and start kicking and punching her. Then
they rape her. Not just once, but twice. She cries out, looking away, and begging
them to stop. As she looks up at the heavens above for guidance, she screams for her
dad. When the attack ended, the men tossed her aside in the ditch, leaving her in
hopes she will die. All the citizens in the town knew of these men as drunks; people

Carl had a great life, was well known in the town and very well educated. This was
something Billy and James did not have nor thought they would ever; they did not
like it; they attacked his daughter with plans of her dying to make his life as good
as there s. Billy and James are not looking for marriage or even appear to care
about girlfriends. They are both happy with each other s company and clearly
understand each other s emotions and thoughts. They have met their needs for
acceptance. Should we consider them a couple? Or are they simply two men that
are confused? Life doesn t come with a manual. Many create their own chapters
and hopefully end with happy endings. After their attack on Tonya, they went to
the bar with smiles, bragging about what they did, like a reward they just won. It
was in fact a confusion of what they felt was so right to them, but actually was so
wrong in reality. Deep inside each one has some clue of who they are, but are
unsure of if that s who they want to be. It seemed as though Billy and James were
not worried about getting caught, they didn t fear being turned in, as they sat in the
bar recanting the story. It appeared as though they wanted to be caught, as if jail was
a better place. A place where they may have thought would be more socially
acceptable. Jail accepts everyone, black, white, male, or female; it is a place where
they could share the stories of gratification and possibly feel like they are a normal

Spanish And The Spanish Language Essay
Spanish is one of the most popular spoken languages around the world. In the U.S
Spanish is the second most spoken language other than English and it s the most
popular foreign language learned in US secondary schools (Zentella, 182). From
past experience a lot of jobs require knowing a second language and most often the
two languages preferred are Spanish and English. One of the reasons this may be is
because of the abundant Spanish speakers in the U.S and it s most likely why
Spanish is most commonly studied in schools. The Spanish languagefirst came about
in the fifth century on the Iberian Peninsula, which is in the Southwest region of
Europe. In 19 B.C. the Iberian Peninsula became known as Hispania after the
Romans took over. From that a language called Vulgar Latin originated. In
Hispania two main dialects also arose, Castilian and Andalusian. In the U.S,
specifically the Northeast and Southwest other dialects of Spanish are also
common(F R chapter 10 and 11). The Spanish language has existed in the U.S for
centuries. The first occurrence of Spanish was in Florida in 1513 and it is said to
brough by Juan Ponce de Leon, a Spanish conquistador (Silver Corvalan, 207). The
Southwest became a part of the Spanish colonies in the sixteenth century, first in
New Mexico in 1598, and in Texas in 1659 (Silver Corvalan, 207). When discussing
the Southwest part of the U.S we re referring to the following five states, New
Mexico, Texas, California, Arizona, and Colorado. In
The Establishment Of The Kingdom Of Italy
The Risorgimento, 19th century, was a movement aiming for Italian unification that
culminated in the establishment of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861. The Risorgimento
was an ideological and literary movement that helped to arouse the national
consciousness of the Italian people, and it led to a series of political events that
freed the Italian states from foreign domination and united them politically (
Risorgimento, n.d.). Giuseppe Verdi was a significant contributor to the political
reunification of Italy. One of his most famous operas, Nabucco not only pioneered a
new musical style to establish Verdi s reputation as a composer, but it also reflected
the political struggles of Italian states ( Risorgimento , n.d.).
In Nabucco s overture in 1842, Verdi gave voice to Hebrew slaves lamenting the loss
of their homeland, but they were in secret dialogue with their audience. Verdi s real
intentions were honoring the place of music in the Age of Revolutions. The Italians
knew that the true purpose of the chorus was as an expression of sensitively
contemporary Italian feeling about their nation state, at that time under the
oppression of foreign domination (Risorgimento, n.d.). In no other Verdi s opera, the
nation, as a political, and religious institution occupy the stage so continuously. Or
the individual characters often act as symbols of political and religious reality
(Kimbell, page 447). The overture of Nabucco, involved a March music, with the
sound of a brass, and a
Essay about Evolution of Goaltending in the NHL
Today, the term hockey describes differing games in various parts of the world, but
specifically in North America it refers to as ice hockey. In its origin, hockey is one of
the oldest games played. The earliest mention of the sport of hockey dates back to
1572, when it was on a list of prohibited games. Hockey s birthplace is believed to be
in Asia and authorities credit Persiawith having devised it about 2000 BC. People
who perfected the game of polomust have known quot;hockey on the ground quot;

Then two more teams were added making the NHL a six team league; the

the organization which was limited to six teams and added another six teams

The game of ice hockey is played with 12 players on a 200 feet by 80 feet

Suited up in their equipment, they are the most essential part of an ice hockey

position have evolved over the years; the equipment used, the physical and mental
abilities of the goaltenders, the style of play, and the rule changes of the NHL
which have forced goalies to change the way they play their game. In the early years,
goalies were not very well protected. Having to stop frozen discs of
The Pros And Cons Of Extreme Parenting

Breed-Specific Legislation
Take a Bite Out of Breed Specific Legislation Imagine you are a proud dog owner,
having adopted a puppy from a local rescue not knowing what breed your new
bundle of joy is. As your puppy turns into an adult, it becomes obvious that your dog
is a mix or full bred American Pit Bull Terrier. You run into trouble moving into
certain communities, ranging from neighborhoods with homeowners associations to
apartment complexes. Even your insurance company is placing regulations and
additional fees on you based solely on the breed of your dog. If you are living in a
town that places a law forbidding your dog s breed following a high profile dog
bite case, you face the problem of having to move or the possibility for your dog to
be seized and possibly euthanized. Instances like the above happen today across the
country, as people run into problems with communities, insurance, and local laws
based solely on whether their dog fits into the characterization of certain breeds.

Education on dogs, their behavior, and proper ownership is vital for a reduction in
dog bites. As the majority of those bitten by dogs are children, we need to educate
them on proper dog interaction (Sacks et al. 837). A focused education on dog
safety and bite prevention around dogs needs to be built into the school education
system to target the largest group of victims. Programs with the main audience as
adults are also imperative by promoting owners to train and socialize their dogs in
order to keep them and their family safe. This can be done on a small level, where
rescues and shelters require any adopting family to go through dog behavior and
safety education. Or through a local level, where nonprofit organizations reach out
and hold bite prevention education programs to inform not only owners but everyone
who may come in contact with

Comparing Beowulf And Thor As An Epic Hero
Throughout history the definition of a hero has stayed relatively the same: a person
admired for their courage, strength, loyalty, and achievements. Beowulf and Thor
might seem like they are very similar heroes, but they have a large amount of
differences too. Thor is a god that has help from cosmic and mystical powers, while
Beowulfis a human with some superhuman abilities. These two heroes may have
many differences between them, but they both still meet the expectations of a hero.
Thor is the god of lightning and thunder, son of Odin and Gaea. Banished to Earth
he fights for a worthwhile cause: protecting humanity. He has great strength,
endurance, and resistance to injury. He is also extremely long lived (though not

Diet Coke Twisted Mango Commercial
I thought that the Diet Coke Twisted Mango commercial was very poorly done.
The commercial featured actress Hayley Magnus, who takes a sip of Diet Coke

annoying and ineffective. The main reason that I felt the commercial was bad was
because the dancing was very distracting. The poor dancing drew my attention
away from the product itself. As I watched the poor dancing I was cringing. The
dancing was so bad that my assumptions carried over to what Diet Coke Twisted

seemed like Diet Coke put very minimal time and effort into the making of the

In the film Strictly Ballroom, the director Baz Luhrman uses many different film
techniques to influence the portrayal and development of characters. Costume and

Even though Fran became more confident, her costume and makeup still suited her
personality. For example at the Pan Pacific Grand Prix, all of the other female
dancers wore bright coloured, revealing outfits, Fran wore a traditional red Spanish
dress. At the end of the film Fran s physical appearance changed dramatically and so
did her confidence. These characters are good examples of how Luhrman uses
costume and makeup to effectively influence the portrayal and development of
characters in the film.
In Strictly Ballroom, Luhrman uses many different camera angles and lighting
techniques to exaggerate scenes, settings and even characters personalities. An
example of this is at the start of the film, when Scott Hastings is dancing by himself
in a room, there is a bright, white spotlight on him as he dances, drawing the audience
to watch him. This happens whenever Scott dances and it shows the audience that
Scott has a sense of purity and that he is the protagonist of the film. Luhrman uses
low angle shots when Scott and Fran are dancing at the end of the film, this is a
good technique used so the audience can see them dancing and also gives the
audience the impression that they are dominate and confident. Another character
who is a good example of camera angles and film techniques being used on them to
portray their personality is Barry Fife. Barry is a mean character and Luhrman uses
dark, reddish lighting to make him seem evil.
Literary Elements in A Rose For Emily Essay
Escaping Loneliness In A Rose for Emily, William Faulkner s use of setting and
characterization foreshadows and builds up to the climax of the story. His use of
metaphors prepares the reader for the bittersweet ending. A theme of respectability
and the loss of, is threaded throughout the story. Appropriately, the story begins with
death, flashes back to the past and hints towards the demise of a woman and the
traditions of the past she personifies. Faulkner has carefully crafted a multi layered

While the outside of her house mirrors her physical decay the interior of the house

outside may still be somewhat beautiful and dominating with it s classic structure,
the inside of the house smelling of dust and disuse and with furniture in which the
leather was cracked (622)shows that the admirable elegance Miss Emily portrays
is just a façade. From the tarnished gilt easel holding her fathers picture and the
tarnished gold head of her cane to the dim hall from which a staircase mounted into
still more shadow Faulkner uses the interiorof her house to allude to Miss Emily s

not only resembles the objects in her house covered in dust but also prepares the

Essay On The Door 42
Door #42 I don t know exactly how it started. I woke up on the concrete ground,
and the smell of copper and mildew invaded my nose. I eventually sat up and begin
moving my limbs around to make sure I wasn t hurt. While stretching out my back,
I heard a rustling in the corner. A human, based on the outline. I slowly stood up
and crept over to them. Sitting up, I could tell it was a boy, and a scared one at
that. He stood up and looked at me with wide frightened eyes. I m Beau. Who are
you? Why am I he...? His voice drifted away as he took in the situation. Mason. I
don t know where we are, but we are gonna get out. Beau slowly stood up and begin
brushing himself off and I did the same. Looking around the room, I saw that one side

Beau, I m gonna get us out I promise. You have to be quiet or someone will hear us.
Stepping over piles of bones and puddles, we found out doors ringed the floor

#70. All of them had a padlock on them. They were all shaped and colored

the key in a cage that was above door #33. I made my way back to the stairs and
showed Beau the key. Which door do you want Beau? 17. #17 was a deep burgundy
with a gold handle. I took a deep breath and put the key in the lock. It

Cor Pulmonale Research Paper
Cor pulmonale is a condition associated with diseases of the lung (e.g., COPD,
fibrosis, etc.), where either the altered structure or the malfunction of the right
ventricle arises from pulmonary hypertension. In COPD patients, hypoxic
vasoconstriction results in increased pulmonary artery pressure, which causes
hypertrophy of the right ventricle and lowers cardiac output. Overall, cor pulmonale
is a chronic condition with a slow onset, despite acute presentations of the condition
due to a failure of the right heartto adapt to an increase in pulmonary arterial pressure
due to a pulmonary embolism. The clinical manifestations of cor pulmonale typically

Briefing paper on Rural Housing
Statement
Britain has experienced a series of affordable housing crisis in the early 1980s and
early 1990s (Bramley, 1994). As Andrew Stonell (2010) stated Localism works all
over the country there are villages very keen to have low cost housing for local
people and they are prevented by the planning system from having it. This briefing
paper refutes Stonell s claim and is written to the North Eastern Farming and Rural
Advisory Network, which is one of new Rural and Farming Networks. The purpose
of this paper is indicating the scale and causes of the rural housing crisis, and

Instead of Right to buy regulation, affordable rented housing will be provided to
tenants with a maximum of 80% of the total market rent, and available on both
fixed term and regular lease (PPS3, 2011). Affordable rent houses will be let by
registered providers and the increase of low cost rent houses would provide decent
homes to low income residents and rural people from other villages. To meet the
demand of sustainable development in rural areas, PPS7 required government should
follow the planning objectives and regulations set out in PPG3, and the purpose is to
provide rural people a decent home. It also indicated that housing requirements and
assessment of local affordable housing need should be recognized by local planning
authorities. Make sufficient land available and strictly control new house building
will promote the construction of low cost houses and make good use of the land.
Milbourne (2008) also highlighted that tracing the cooperation with new partnership
will lead a wider series of agencies to afford suitable housing in the countryside. PPS3
(2006) indicated that local authorities are not supposed to formulate affordable
housing providers in planning conditions and obligations, a discussion will be needed
on how to provide affordable housing and long term arrangement. This planning
system will control the housing prices and conditions, in order to prevent the

The Jews are perceived as the chosen people of an omnipotent and omnibenevolent
God. However, the Shoah has posed as a challenge to the belief in the God of
tradition who intervenes in history. It is questioned by Rubenstein, how can Jews
believe in an omnipotent, beneficent God after Auschwitz?. Therefore, maintaining
belief in an all loving and all powerful Godafter the Holocausthas unsurprisingly been
difficult for some Jews. Jewish scripture reveals how God intervened in the history
to save his people from tragedy and to punish for sin. For example, the destruction of
the temple in 70CE and God s intervention to save his people as told in Exodus 14,
where God selects Moses to lead his chosen people out of slavery in Egypt.... Show

This essay will highlight the challenge the Holocaust inflicted upon Jewish thinkers
and will illustrate the affect the catastrophe had upon belief in the God of tradition.
Attempting to reconcile the existence of God with the occurrence of the Shoah is
not an easy task, as why would an all loving God allow 2/3rds of his people to be
murdered for being Jewish? However, Ignaz Maybaum s response to God s role
during the Holocaust coincides with the traditional understanding of a God who
intervenes in history. Previously serving as a liberal rabbi, Maybaum affirms the
continuity of the covenant between God and Israel and maintains the belief that God
intervenes in the history of his chosen people. Within The Face of God after
Auschwitz , Maybaum affirms that the Holocaust was a deliberate intervention of
God, but he rejects the concept that the Shoah was punishment for sin. Here we can
see how Maybaum maintains the traditional belief in a God who intervenes in history,
but modifies the traditional concept of God intervening to punish for sin. Maybaum
states that the Jews were murdered during the Holocaust for the sins of mankind,
which echoes the parable of the suffering servant as told in Isaiah 52:13. Whilst this
is not the common understanding of God s role in
Chivalry In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight, And
Thomas...
Knights often had a certain chivalry code that they had to follow, in (Sir Gawain
and the Green Knight) and (Morte D Arthur) by Sir Thomas Malory their are
examples of chivalry. Knights often had a certain code they had to follow usually
relating to religion, moral, and social code. This system kept the knights usually
under strict order. The knights had many expectations for following this certain code,
and many of them took it seriously. In (Sir Gawain and The Green Knight) and (Morte
D Arthur) there s three main points that knights must follow for their chivalry code,
religion, moral, and protecting women.
The first example of the chivalry code is in (Sir Gawain and The Green Knight)
where the knight has to follow religion. These knights often had a very good rep
for the things they followed. For they were very strict when it came to most things,
religion being one of the top things they always followed. Gawain the knight gets
put into a situation where he is tested by religion. While Gawain is staying at the
castle the Lord s wife comes to seduce him. She fails for a few nights, but
eventually the Knight gives in to his moral code and does things he shouldn t have
with the Lords Knight. there is none so hardy under heaven that to hew him were
able; for he could not be killed by any cunning of hand. (181: 387 388) This is
explaining how the knight has messed up. He was suppose to follow this moral code
but this quote shows you how he failed. Mcentire explains,

sense of determination and finally obtained his happiness in his life. After watching
the movie, I agree on the point that one must ready to sacrifice and works really
hard in order to achieve his/her dream as there is no shortcut to success. In the

Gardner tries so hard to look for homeless shelter for his son and he even quarrels
with others to fight for the last room. Despite facing these hardships, Gardner still
stays optimistic, plays jokes with his son and brings him to the playground, trying to
make him happy. In real life, I like to stay optimistic even if facing problems as I
know that there is nothing cannot be solved. On the other hand, a pessimistic person
will only make things become more complicated due to their negative thinking and
eventually bringing more problems.
After six month of training, Gardner is selected from 20 competitors to work as a
stockbroker in Dean Witter due to his excellent performance during the intern. In
one scene, Gardner is called up to the meeting room, and he is informed by the
director manager Mr. Frohms as he is officially getting a position of a stockbroker in
Dean Witter. Gardner is so happy as all the hard work he had done is finally paid off.
In this part, he called his life as Happiness .
In conclusion, The Pursuit Of Happyness is not only a movie but it is a real situation
in our life that in pursuing our dreams we must have gone through difficulties and
sacrifice is needed for the dream to come true. We must always keep in mind that
there is no shortcut to success and even it does, it is just temporary. Like a quote

So This Is Nibraska
So this is Nebraska is a poem by Ted Kooser in the postmodern age. The poem had

Nebraska, which is a small village in America.
The poem describes a Sunday afternoon in July in Nebraska and this is mentioned in
the third stanza of the poem all the other descriptive language in the poem is used to
explain this setting.
The very first paragraph is a compound complex sentence. The purpose of this is to
slow the pace of the poem. In the first line the gravel road rides, the road is being

Tactile imagery is used with the phrase squeezing the air, this immediately makes the
reader identify with the environment and feel like he/she is there in Nebraska. In the
4th line of this stanza anthropomorphism has been used because the meadowlarks are
waiting and the author had given them human qualities. The word waiting suggests
that it is very still and silent in Nebraska.
The fourth stanza talks about a shelterbelt of cedars and a visual image is used here
to make the trees seem big and protected. An auditory image is used to describe the
staring up of the engine of the pick up truck.
The 5th stanza the phrase you feel has been repeated several times to elaborate the
feeling that the u in the poem is yearning to feel which is laid back and care free.
The 5th stanza also suggests that the u in the poem wants to fit into the environment.
The phrase tires go flat implies silence and lack of movement. The 5th stanza is also
one big long compound complex, which runs into the next stanza to slow the pace
and contribute to this feeling of silence. The tone of this stanza is laid back
suggesting that the u in the poem wants to be off card and calm. The 6th stanza starts
with an onomatopoeic word clucking to describe the various sounds in the
environment. The narrator says that the u in the poem feels like holding a skinny old
man in his/her lap... Waiting for someone to wave to.

This novel develops characters that engage in sex, to teachers cheating so their high
school football players can continue to participate on the football field. Many people
have a major affect on football and society in this novel. One of the major
characters was Boobie Myles. Boobie was supposed to be the star athlete on the
Permian football team. In the beginning, Boobie was arrogant to his teammates
and wasn t a good team leader. All Boobie cared about was winning and getting to
the next level of football to satisfy his athletic needs. When Boobie is injured, he
realizes he took football for granted and would do anything to play again. The team
needs Boobie and Boobie needs the team. Coach Gaines realizes Boobie was
seriously hurt and gives an inspiring pep talk to the team about how the players need
to put their heart in the game and how lucky they are to be playing for Odessa.
H. G. Bissinger is the author of this book and the narrator. He is very descriptive
about each individual on the football team and how they impact society. Bissinger s
word choice and sentence fluency is excellent. He establishes his characters,
develops the plot, and builds the novel to reach a climatic conclusion. The sentence
fluency is well structured and easy to read. Bissinger s writing will not allow you to
put the book down when you start reading the novel.

significant amount. The difference between the movie and the novel is that in the

Evolution Of Human Resource Management
Abstract
This case study covers the evolution of human resource management and discusses
current issues and trends in the field. Changes in orientation, such as changes from
personnel to human resources, administration to management, and human relations to
organizational effectiveness, are covered. Utilizing the concepts and technology
described can greatly improve the effectiveness of any human resources department.

Early human resource management techniques included social welfare elements
aimed at helping immigrants adjust to their jobs and to life in the United States.
These elements included learning English and obtaining housing and medical care.
Such interventions also promoted supervisory training in order to increase company
productivity. During this era, managers began to view workers more as individual
human beings rather than non human resources. Administrative functions of Human
Resource Management include hiring and firing of employees, compensation,
payroll, and management of employee benefits, policy formulation and
implementation, records maintenance, Employee Assistance administration, Drug
Free Workplace, legal compliance and Union relationship maintenance.
These tasks are often seen by administrators as tedious busy work performed by skill
specific clerical managers with limited connection to the mission and goals of the
company. This area of company functions is the quantitative component that
administrators access to calculate total workforce costs, compensation, and employee
turnover. Strategic elements of Human Resource Management include recognizing
that people are a key organizational resource. Over the last two decades there has
been a significant shift in thinking regarding the role that people play in the success
of businesses. In
Subsidized Student Loan
Compare your student loan offers by repayment schedules. As a student you may
not have the time or energy to pick up a job while you are in college in order to
start paying back loans and interest, so knowing which loan lets you defer all
payments while you are in school can be helpful.
With a subsidized student loan, the interest is not charged until you graduate. It is
considered deferred and is subsidized by the federal government. You start paying the
principal amount and the interest after you graduate. With an unsubsidized student
loan the interest is charged from the time that the funds are first dispersed to you.
Both loan types will allow you to defer your principal and interest payments until
after you graduate. However with an unsubsidized loan the amount of interest accrued
from when you first took out the loan is added to your total amount owed.

The amount that you need to borrow may influence which loan you choose. The cost
differences at various colleges may weigh into your decision.
Subsidized loans have a specific cap on how much you can borrow. Unsubsidized
loans also have a cap, but it is typically is around $4,000 more than subsidized loans
that you can borrow per year.[2]
3
Review the differences in loan requirements between unsubsidized vs. subsidized
student loans. Your personal financial circumstances may be too high to even qualify
for a subsidized loan, so be aware of what the requirements are before you start
applying.
Subsidized loans are dependent upon your financial status and specific need. Your
specific school will determine how much money you qualify for with an unsubsidized
or subsidized loan. Many students end up using their subsidized loan money first, and
then piggyback it with an unsubsidized loan.

The Functional And Chemical Properties Of A Meringue
To investigate the functional and chemical properties of the ingredients used in a
meringue, I will research the different ingredients used to make a meringue and
how they affect the physical and chemical properties of the meringue. I will
particularly focus on the properties of eggs and why egg yolk cannot be used to
make meringue. Meringue can be made in different ways with different types of
ingredients. The basic ingredients needed to make a meringue is eggwhites and sugar.
However you can add other ingredients to change or stabilize the meringue. After
doing some basic research, I will carry out practical investigations and experiment the
functional and chemical properties of a meringue.

The proteins in the egg are broken down physically by denaturation which breaks the
chemical bonds that hold the chains in their tangles, allowing them to uncoil into
long strands (source: https://highered.mheducation.com/sites/0078616441
/student_view0/food_science_activities/demystifying_meringue.html). The strands
then start to coagulate which links the proteins together and stabilizes the
meringue. Once the egg whites are light and frothy, sugar is added to stabilize the
meringue by gathering proteins on the surface area of the air bubbles and to make it
thick and glossy. Once the meringue is whisked to the point where it forms stiff
peaks. The meringues are then piped onto a baking tray and baked in the oven for
around 40 minutes to an hour, until they are pale, dry, puffy and delicate. Meringues
are generally bakes at around 325 F so that the air bubbles expand, the water
evaporates and the proteins coagulate at an even rate throughout the meringue

Assimilation Essay

  • 1. Assimilation Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of assimilation poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly, one must navigate through the intricate layers of this multifaceted concept, which involves the integration of individuals or groups into a new cultural or social environment. Assimilation is not a one-size-fits-all process; it varies across contexts, encompassing aspects such as cultural, linguistic, and social assimilation. The complexity deepens as one delves into the historical and sociological dimensions of assimilation. Analyzing the experiences of different communities or societies, understanding the power dynamics at play, and examining the repercussions of assimilation on individual identity require careful consideration and nuanced exploration. Furthermore, the topic demands a balanced approach. While acknowledging the potential benefits of assimilation, such as fostering social cohesion and unity, one must also address the concerns related to the loss of cultural diversity and the potential erasure of unique identities. Striking the right balance and presenting a well-rounded perspective can be a daunting task. Research plays a pivotal role in the essay-writing process, and assimilation, being a topic with vast implications, requires a comprehensive understanding of various scholarly works, historical accounts, and contemporary examples. Synthesizing information from diverse sources while maintaining clarity and coherence adds another layer of difficulty to the task. Additionally, expressing one's thoughts articulately and persuasively is crucial when delving into the complexities of assimilation. Ensuring that the essay flows seamlessly, transitions between ideas are smooth, and arguments are logically structured can be a time-consuming and intellectually demanding process. In conclusion, writing an essay on assimilation involves grappling with intricate concepts, navigating historical and sociological nuances, maintaining a balanced perspective, conducting thorough research, and presenting ideas coherently. The challenge lies in doing justice to the complexity of the topic while engaging the reader with a thought-provoking and insightful exploration. • 2. Advertisements that Glorify Violence Against Women Advertisers have countless subtle ways of presenting advertisements to sell products, but a lot of these advertisements may go way beyond the selling of products. Advertisements with regard to violent sexual scenes against women may actually be sending subliminal messages that violence is okay. Looking at these advertisements, it is not hard to see that there is a deeper meaning behind them than to just sell a product. With Sexual and violent Advertisements we may even be able to make the statement that rape, sexual assault and violenceis alive and thriving in our society. Americans along with Europeans are being desensitized by the vast amount of violent advertisements. Advertisements that convey startling portrayals of women being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, a few angry viewers will not stop advertisers from using violent advertisements to sell their products. In this next advertisement the viewer is shown the aftermath of what looks to be a woman who was assaulted. A Victim of beauty shows a shocking glamorization of domestic abuse that was shown in a Bulgarian magazine 12. The magazine sells clothing from H M, Label and Capasca. This startling image shows a woman in a red top with red lips, her hair and makeup done to perfection while sporting a single black eye. Have advertisers in our society really lowered its values to the emotional sadness of seeing victims of abuse just to sell clothing? The lower caption in the ad translates from Bulgarian to, Recommended Parental Controls: pictures are not recommended for persons under 16 years. And for the faint hearted ( ).This seems to challenge the notion that only viewer who are too young to understand or people with heart problems will be affected by viewing this image. Controversially, all people with a heart should be disturbed by this image. Was the intention of the magazine to glamorize domestic violence or was it that being beautiful is painful? Either way, seeing a black eye on a woman shows the obvious after effect of violence that can invoke rage, fear and empathy in all people. The color red that is usually seen as a powerful color, no longer exudes a strong and
  • 3. Narrative Essay On Camp Snoopy The first time going to camp snoopy was a huge deal because I was only 4 years old. I was with my close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my mom and grandma. When we were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear hear squeal of kids screaming, and the rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the elegant peanutsswing. When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth breeze of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I didn t want to go on the shooting star so my cousins went on the shooting star and after they came over and said we were baby s If we didn t go on the... When we got in line for the log Chute the sun was still shining, after we got in line all I heard was water splashing everywhere from the log chute coming down the monster hill. The line felt like a mile long, the scary thing was we kept going into the abandoned cave, every step it got darker and darker. We advently saw a pinch of sun before it went away, and then we were first in line. So me, my mom, and Sam stepped into the log chute. Then we started to float down the stream and then we took hard right and slowly went the lift and all you could here was click clack, click clack, click clack. Once off the lift we hit some rapids and we went by the home run chair; then all a sudden we went down the hill after the drop my heart was racing. Then we went up another lift to go to the massive drop my heart was racing, my stomach felt like it was going to explode. Then we went straight down, and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till this day the log chute is one the scariest rides at Camp Snoopy because your just sitting in the log chute, so you have to girl the metal bar for my life.I felt that then and a I feel it
  • 4. Supernatural As Describe By Merriam Webster Supernatural as describe by Merriam Webster is of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe; of or relating to God or a god, demigod, spirit, or devil departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature: attributed to an invisible agent (as a ghost or spirit). As for me, I am talking about Supernatural, a television show on the CW channel that was created by Eric Kripke. Starting in 2005, Supernatural has had me contemplated and in love with Sam and Dean Winchester. This show is based on religion coming from old testament to new testament to other gods and religion proffer such as demons, angels, God, Lucifer, Zeus, and many much more gods and mystical creatures. Although there is much to write on this show, I have chosen to write on the two main characters and how they each fall in a sort of religion aspect and will give a brief history on the show with their symbols, signs, Archangels, Angels and Demons, and some other fun stuff of the show. The adventure begins the night Mary was killed by the green eyed demon leaving John to raise Sam and Dean. John did not understand why the demon went after his family, so he decided to go after the demon and has been chasing it since 1983. 2005 that s where the show really begins when Dean goes looking for Sam at college in order for Sam to help him look for their father, who has gone on a hunting trip and hasn t return from it. His character is portrayed as a very self centered person who shows zero empathy towards his patients. His lack of empathy was seen multiple times in the beginning of the movie; for instance, when one of his patient ask him a question related to her scars after her open heart surgery, was ridiculed by Dr. McKee. On another occasion, when group of interns asks him if he shows emotions towards his patients, he replies by saying you go in, you cut and that s all . The entire hospitalenvironment appeared to be based on a physiciancentered model rather than patient centered model. Dr. McKee s perspective changed

The assignment essay which Mr Quiring gave to Naomi is like a metaphor of her problem she is struggling with to find its ending. According to Heath, the whole novel is an assignment that she had difficulty in what to write, especially in its ending (p. 223). When she was still stuck in the way to finish her schoolwork, to say goodbye to her town, and especially to live in her way, Mr. Quiring tried to guide her to find the answer by asking her to imagine what will happen when she closes her eyes. In other words, he wanted to let her draw her dream future her ending she desires. Finishing the assignment with its endings simultaneously opened her endings for her family. • 10. Essay about The History of Guns in America The History of Guns in America What is the importance of the gun? The gun is one of the most important tools in the defense of our nation. Guns are responsible for a lot of death and injuries, but these things were going on before the existence of the gun. Guns aren t the reason for the death and injuries, they are just a means to it. They are tools and an engineering marvel of our age. The gun has evolved from a simple weapon that caused limited destruction to the modern gun that is so fast and powerful it is capable of mass destruction. This early design of the bullet is very similar to the simple modern one. It had a metal casing with powder placed behind the pellets or in some cases one large pellet (Hogg 54). With these being loaded from the side on the new rifles they were capable of firing a shot much faster then the gun of a hundred years earlier. Even though the gun had become more powerful the Civil War was still a political war. Next, the first truly automatic gun was invented and that was the Gatling Gun. It was built back in the late 1880 s and was capable of firing hundreds of shots per minute. Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling took the ideas others of a fully automatic gun to the next step and made it work well. His gun had a constant feed of bullets that did not stop firing until its cartridge was empty. The gun used several barrels so that none of the barrels would overheat from constant use (Hogg 85 86). It was however a stationary gun. His gun was a great success. It was the first automatic weapon and was first one capable of killing mass numbers. Next in the development of machine guns came the Maxim, the machine gun with only one barrel. This gun with a belt of bullets that fed in one side and the empty belt came out the other side. It used the explosion from the bullets firing to load the next bullet. With the use of different

Research shows that listening to music can improve your mood. Music has been used as a therapy for centuries, especially in the 1930s ( How Music Changes Your Mood ). Popular music during the 1930s included many upbeat and fun genres like swing, jazz , and country/western. The exciting sound of swing music is portrayed from its strong rhythm section of double bass and drums. This is used as the anchor for a lead section of brass instruments, woodwinds, and sometimes stringed instruments. Swing often uses medium to fast tempos and a swing time rhythm ( Music ... According to Sean Dooley who contributed to The History of Country Music , they blended popular songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, cowboy songs, and various musical traditions from European immigrant communities. In the 1930s, radio and recordings had begun to popularize the new style, renamed as country and western . It included country, gospel, bluegrass, cowboy musicals, brother and sister duets, and western swing (Dooley). The flip side of country music was jazz. Country musicians began recording boogie in 1939, shortly after it was played at Carnegie Hall. This was also when Johnny Barfield recorded Boogie Woogie . The start of what was initially called hillbilly , boogie , or okie boogie became much more popular in late 1945 ( Music in the 1930s ). Another type of country music with a variety of moods included honky tonk. Honky tonk was a basic ensemble of guitar, bass, steel guitar, and drums. It became widespread among poor whites in Texas and Oklahoma. Honky tonk had its roots in western swing and ranchera music of Mexico (Dooley). Rockabilly was most common in the 1950s among country fans. 1956 was called the Year of Rockabilly in country music. Rockabilly was a mixture of hillbilly and rock and roll ( Music in the 1930s ). The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of The Shrew was actually written by William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate About You is not written by William. The language in the two is a little different though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that the main characters are the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming of The Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is the second play that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About Youwas filmed in 1999. The movie was directed by Gil Junger and was released on March 31, 1999. Although the film was later released and the name was changed it still has the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. Every time I take a trip on the T/V Kings Pointer I am impressed at how my shipmates and I are able to safely navigate and operate a vessel. This is a true testament to the education we receive at the Academy and during our time at Sea. With great weather, our time in Virginia was just as impressive when pulling into Norfolk harbor. Seeing the stern of the USS Wisconsin, as a relic of one of the greatest vessels our American Shipyards have produced, was just icing on the cake compared to the Countless US Naval destroyers and cruisers and aircraft carriers we passed while transiting the Chesapeake bay and Elizabeth river. Each student was given an unknown, which consisted of an acid and alcohol mixed together. The unknowns all had low molecular weights, causing them to have a strong odor. For this reason, the unknowns were only supposed to be opened under the hood, so that no strong scents were sitting in the lab. Each unknown was heated and mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid, producing an ester and bi product of water, which can be seen in figure 1 as well. The ester was purified through distillation, and the components were separated during the distillation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The experimental boiling point from distillation was compared to the literature value, having an experimental value of 121 122В°C. the literature value of the boiling point for Isopropyl Isobutyrate is 121В°C, which matches almost exactly with the experimental value. The boiling point range for the ester itself was not very large, although it did take a little bit of time for the temperature to rise. Once the temperature rose, it leveled and was very consistent at 122В°C. the next value used for identification was the refractive index. The experimental refractive index was found to be 1.392, which is slightly different from the literature value of 1.421. This could be due to human error or a misread in the refractive index itself. Although the literature value from Dr. Kwan says 1.421, the literature value on Sigma Aldrich gives a literature value of 1.388, which is much closer to the experimental refractive index, assuring that it is the correct identity of the unknown. The slight difference between the values may be due to an impurity that was left inside of the ester at the time of the reading. Once the refractive index was compared, the melting point of the 3,5 dinitrobenzoic acid compared. The experimental value was found to be 120 123В°C, while the literature value was found to be 123В°C. This value is exact to the literature, showing that the unknown was extremely pure since it had a small range for its melting point and matched the literature value. There was a decent amount of solid formed in the final portion of the experiment. After reading the unknown, it was proven that the unknown was Isopropyl Isobutyrate. Under the rule of George III, England s political climate became increasingly unstable with constant struggles between the King and Whig politicians. Bath, where Jane s family moved after her father s retirement in 1801, provided Austen with a different view of 19th century social customs. Although her family s social standing did not enable her to travel in the most elite circles, she was a frequent visitor to Assembly Room events and made regular trips to the Pump Room, another of the city s centres of social life. Bath serves as the locale for scenes in two novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, and both draw heavily on her experiences there. Jane apparently used her time in Bath primarily to gather material for future novels, or to infuse into revisions of her previous ones; she did not begin any of her six novels during the five years she lived in Bath. Although Jane s travel experiences never took her out of the immediate area, she travelled quite a bit within the South of England. Among others, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland addresses this change in his speech, Faith, Family, and Religious Freedom. In this lecture given at Chapman University in 2015, he focuses on that trend in today s society: faith, family, and religious freedom, or, more accurately, the decline in it. Traditional family valuesand religionhave degraded at an astonishing rate, he claims; the fact that he devoted an entire speech to the topic proves the severity of said trend. Elder Holland builds common ground, quotes credible sources, and shows irrefutable facts and statistics to effectively convince his religious listeners that action must be taken to prevent the disappearing freedoms of faith, family, and religion, else disastrous consequences take place. Part of the reason Elder Holland eminently convinced his audience that the decline in family values is an issue was how he established a solid common ground from which they could each relate. In a crowd so religiously diverse, in order to be truly effective, a sense of unity must be achieved and maintained throughout the entirety of the event to

  • 26. Spanish And The Spanish Language Essay Spanish is one of the most popular spoken languages around the world. In the U.S Spanish is the second most spoken language other than English and it s the most popular foreign language learned in US secondary schools (Zentella, 182). From past experience a lot of jobs require knowing a second language and most often the two languages preferred are Spanish and English. One of the reasons this may be is because of the abundant Spanish speakers in the U.S and it s most likely why Spanish is most commonly studied in schools. The Spanish languagefirst came about in the fifth century on the Iberian Peninsula, which is in the Southwest region of Europe. In 19 B.C. the Iberian Peninsula became known as Hispania after the Romans took over. From that a language called Vulgar Latin originated. In Hispania two main dialects also arose, Castilian and Andalusian. In the U.S, specifically the Northeast and Southwest other dialects of Spanish are also common(F R chapter 10 and 11). The Spanish language has existed in the U.S for centuries. The first occurrence of Spanish was in Florida in 1513 and it is said to brough by Juan Ponce de Leon, a Spanish conquistador (Silver Corvalan, 207). The Southwest became a part of the Spanish colonies in the sixteenth century, first in New Mexico in 1598, and in Texas in 1659 (Silver Corvalan, 207). When discussing the Southwest part of the U.S we re referring to the following five states, New Mexico, Texas, California, Arizona, and Colorado. In

The Risorgimento was an ideological and literary movement that helped to arouse the national consciousness of the Italian people, and it led to a series of political events that freed the Italian states from foreign domination and united them politically ( Risorgimento, n.d.). Giuseppe Verdi was a significant contributor to the political reunification of Italy. One of his most famous operas, Nabucco not only pioneered a new musical style to establish Verdi s reputation as a composer, but it also reflected the political struggles of Italian states ( Risorgimento , n.d.). In Nabucco s overture in 1842, Verdi gave voice to Hebrew slaves lamenting the loss of their homeland, but they were in secret dialogue with their audience. Verdi s real intentions were honoring the place of music in the Age of Revolutions. The Italians knew that the true purpose of the chorus was as an expression of sensitively contemporary Italian feeling about their nation state, at that time under the oppression of foreign domination (Risorgimento, n.d.). In no other Verdi s opera, the nation, as a political, and religious institution occupy the stage so continuously. Or the individual characters often act as symbols of political and religious reality (Kimbell, page 447). The overture of Nabucco, involved a March music, with the sound of a brass, and a

Jewish scripture reveals how God intervened in the history to save his people from tragedy and to punish for sin. However, Ignaz Maybaum s response to God s role during the Holocaust coincides with the traditional understanding of a God who intervenes in history. Previously serving as a liberal rabbi, Maybaum affirms the continuity of the covenant between God and Israel and maintains the belief that God intervenes in the history of his chosen people. Gene states I went back to Devon School not long ago, and found it looking oddly newer than when I was a student there 15 years before. (Knowles 1), More over when Finny dies he is given a funeral. When Dr. Stanpole operates on Finny s leg some of the marrow ends up in the blood stream finally taking his life, Gene states I did not cry then or ever about Finny. I did not cry even when I stood watching him being lowered into his family s strait laced burial ground outside Boston (Knowles 194). The starting and concluding plays a big role in the novel because it sets how the story is going to form. On the other hand in the movie Gene does not narrate the story as an adult also the funeral of Finny is not shown either. At the start of the movie, in Devon High School Gene should have been shown as an adult narrating the story and towards the end of the movie Finny s funeral should have been shown. The movie states that Gene did not narrate the novel but it was a third person who was narrating. There was not a significant part where they showed any flashback from Gene or any other. ! The movie itself is less efficient than the novel because of the short time span which results in the whole plot not being

Early human resource management techniques included social welfare elements aimed at helping immigrants adjust to their jobs and to life in the United States. These elements included learning English and obtaining housing and medical care. Such interventions also promoted supervisory training in order to increase company productivity. During this era, managers began to view workers more as individual human beings rather than non human resources. Administrative functions of Human Resource Management include hiring and firing of employees, compensation, payroll, and management of employee benefits, policy formulation and implementation, records maintenance, Employee Assistance administration, Drug Free Workplace, legal compliance and Union relationship maintenance. These tasks are often seen by administrators as tedious busy work performed by skill specific clerical managers with limited connection to the mission and goals of the company. This area of company functions is the quantitative component that administrators access to calculate total workforce costs, compensation, and employee turnover. Strategic elements of Human Resource Management include recognizing that people are a key organizational resource. Over the last two decades there has been a significant shift in thinking regarding the role that people play in the success of businesses. In
  • 51. Subsidized Student Loan Compare your student loan offers by repayment schedules. As a student you may not have the time or energy to pick up a job while you are in college in order to start paying back loans and interest, so knowing which loan lets you defer all payments while you are in school can be helpful. With a subsidized student loan, the interest is not charged until you graduate. It is considered deferred and is subsidized by the federal government. You start paying the principal amount and the interest after you graduate. With an unsubsidized student loan the interest is charged from the time that the funds are first dispersed to you. Both loan types will allow you to defer your principal and interest payments until after you graduate. However with an unsubsidized loan the amount of interest accrued from when you first took out the loan is added to your total amount owed. 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount that you need to borrow may influence which loan you choose. The cost differences at various colleges may weigh into your decision. Subsidized loans have a specific cap on how much you can borrow. Unsubsidized loans also have a cap, but it is typically is around $4,000 more than subsidized loans that you can borrow per year.[2] 3 Review the differences in loan requirements between unsubsidized vs. subsidized student loans. Your personal financial circumstances may be too high to even qualify for a subsidized loan, so be aware of what the requirements are before you start applying. Subsidized loans are dependent upon your financial status and specific need. Your specific school will determine how much money you qualify for with an unsubsidized or subsidized loan. Many students end up using their subsidized loan money first, and then piggyback it with an unsubsidized loan.
  • 52. Columbine Incident Case Study Seventy two analogous cases. 89 killed. 126 injured. Every single shot fired was an indirect result of the Columbine shooting ( The Columbine effect, 2015). On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado with semiautomatic weapons and homemade bombs. The Columbine High Schoolattack was the worst school shooting in history which changed the way schools handle security and the way Americans react to gun control. Following the tragic event of the Columbine massacre, people throughout the United States were forced to think about the possibility that in the future a similar incident could occur near them (Marsico, 2011). Shortly after the shooting, students that went to Columbine High School began drinking and over 500 students began seeing the school counselor (Gibbs, Roche, Goldstein, Harrington, and Woodbury, 1999). Also, many survivors and families reported that after the shooting they began having a numb feeling in addition to getting depressed when the press asks questions. Seven parents and four students were interviewed and many said that about a half a month after the attack they began feeling negative and they looked for ways they could have prevented the shooting (Norris,

The Functional And Chemical Properties Of A Meringue To investigate the functional and chemical properties of the ingredients used in a meringue, I will research the different ingredients used to make a meringue and how they affect the physical and chemical properties of the meringue. I will particularly focus on the properties of eggs and why egg yolk cannot be used to make meringue. Meringue can be made in different ways with different types of ingredients. The basic ingredients needed to make a meringue is eggwhites and sugar. However you can add other ingredients to change or stabilize the meringue. After doing some basic research, I will carry out practical investigations and experiment the functional and chemical properties of a meringue. Prior Learning: Function of the ingredients in meringue Eggs eggs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proteins in the egg are broken down physically by denaturation which breaks the chemical bonds that hold the chains in their tangles, allowing them to uncoil into long strands (source: https://highered.mheducation.com/sites/0078616441 /student_view0/food_science_activities/demystifying_meringue.html). The strands then start to coagulate which links the proteins together and stabilizes the meringue. Once the egg whites are light and frothy, sugar is added to stabilize the meringue by gathering proteins on the surface area of the air bubbles and to make it thick and glossy. Once the meringue is whisked to the point where it forms stiff peaks. The meringues are then piped onto a baking tray and baked in the oven for around 40 minutes to an hour, until they are pale, dry, puffy and delicate. Meringues are generally bakes at around 325 F so that the air bubbles expand, the water evaporates and the proteins coagulate at an even rate throughout the meringue
