Essay On Luck
Crafting an essay on the topic of luck is a task that requires a delicate balance between personal
experiences, philosophical musings, and empirical evidence. Luck, by its very nature, is a concept
that eludes precise definition, making it a challenge to capture its essence in words. The
difficulty lies not only in conveying the abstract nature of luck but also in navigating the diverse
perspectives that individuals hold regarding this elusive phenomenon.
One must tread carefully when delving into personal anecdotes, as the subjectivity of luck means
that what may be considered fortunate for one person could be viewed as mere chance by
another. Attempting to strike a universal chord while discussing luck demands a nuanced
approach, acknowledging the cultural, social, and psychological factors that shape individual
perceptions.
Additionally, the essay must grapple with the philosophical dimensions of luck. Does luck stem
from fate, random chance, or individual choices? Addressing these fundamental questions
requires a deep exploration of various philosophical frameworks, adding another layer of
complexity to the writing process.
Moreover, integrating empirical evidence and research findings into the essay poses its own set
of challenges. Luck, being a subjective concept, is not easily quantifiable, and scholarly literature
on the topic may offer conflicting perspectives. Balancing anecdotal evidence with academic
rigor is a delicate dance, demanding meticulous research and critical thinking.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on luck requires a deft touch in weaving together personal
experiences, philosophical insights, and empirical evidence. The complexity of the subject,
coupled with its inherent subjectivity, makes this writing task a formidable one. Navigating the
nuances of luck necessitates a thoughtful and thorough exploration of various perspectives,
ensuring a well-rounded and nuanced discussion. Similar essays and a wealth of additional

Harold Washington Library Concert Report
Our class had a tour of the Harold Washington Library Center, Chicago Public
Library s main library, located in the South Loop. You can visit the library any day:
Monday Thursday from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M., Friday Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.
and Sunday 1 P.M. 5 P.M. Ms. Barbara was our tour guide as she noted that Harold
Washington was Chicago s mayor. She tried to give us an overall information about
the library: what you can do and what you can find in the library. The library was
created in 1991. The Harold Washington library is very big and rich and has 9 floors
where on each you can find books on different topics( from children s books to
business, science, technology, government, history, literature, art and music). There

The Importance Of Architecture
In everyday life, most people experience the work of Architects in many forms, like
a school, or perhaps a house. However, architecture is much more than just the
design of buildings and houses. It is a vital part of the construction process, which is
a main component of the Gross Domestic Product, and can effect or be effected by
local or national economies. Its importance is undervalued in the workforce, and its
effect on the economy is underrated. Architectureis effected by the amount of raw
materials, and the willingness of people to spend money on new developments or
buildings. Architecture affects the economy by supplying new sources of revenue,
such as new sports arenas, shopping malls, and infrastructure projects, while... Show

If these are not present, there is no opportunity to break ground on, and even plan
new projects. The demand for architecture is directly related to the economic state
at a current time. As the economy grows in prosperity, the demand for architecture
increases. This is because architecture relies on the ability to spend money to buy
land and develop buildings. When an economy is in a recession, there is less
money circulating in an economic system, meaning less can be used to develop
land or to buy land. In a recession people tend to save money because there is a fall
in confidence. If people expect to be made unemployed then you don t want to spend
and borrow, it is less risky to save (Pettinger 2008). In 2008, the United States was
struck by a recession, which caused a massive downturn in the production of the
industries of architecture and construction. The financial crisis of 2008 had an
outsized impact on the design and construction industries. No sector of the economy
was hit harder than were construction (both residential and nonresidential),
architecture, and engineering. (O Brien 2014) The fields of Architecture and
Construction were hit unprecedentedly hard due to the fact that the housing bubble
had burst, and the ownership for houses reached its lowest rate since 1967 in 2015
according to CNBC.

The author of the book Five Point Someone, from which the movie is allegedly

a whole different game and he may have been all too eager to get this achievement
on his resume. His BATNA to the contract he entered in, was to not have the movie

reservation/indifference point was way below that of the filmmakers . The producer
of the film was aware of Bhagat s reservation point and was thus able to strike a deal
without clearly specifying the credit clause. The producer created value for himself
by withholding critical information and capitalizing on Bhagat s overindulgence in
trading information. Thus, Bhagat would have been better off by reserving some of
his enthusiasm and maybe biding time and approaching other production houses to
ensure a fairer negotiation. While writing this memo, I contacted both the parties

It is indicated that Doris s main passion was being an elementary school teacher for
over twenty plus years. She loved having the opportunity to teach children about
new topics. However, she was most passionate about teaching children to read. She
had the patience and encouragement to teach children about the value of reading
and understood that it was a difficult skill to overcome. She said that her favorite
grade to teach was third graders. Doris least favorite subject to teach was math

United States Role In The Middle East Essay
The United States Role in the Middle East
Every day the already complex situation in the Middle East grows more difficult to
solve.
The state of terror and violence that exists in many parts of this strategically
invaluable region
brings into focus many controversial issues and questions. Many experts wonder:
What can the
world do to stop terrorism? How can unstable nations create strong, stable, and long
lasting
governments? Has United States policy failed the region? While current policy is not
a complete
disaster, the United States should significantly reduce both direct and indirect military
intervention and instead engage diplomatically or by funding humanitarian aid
programs.
The majority of policy makers in the United States believe that ... Show more content

in the
region (Shamoo). This violence, which still occurs today, exists largely because of

involvement and is an extremely negative effect of military involvement in the
Middle East. The
United States should at least allow the Middle East to have the basic human need for
freedom
from violence, and because this operation does not accomplish that its negatives
outweigh its
positives. Another case where direct intervention failed is Libya, where U.S.
airstrikes aided
Moammar Gadhafi s removal from power in 2011. While the intervention looked
successful
early on, the region quickly descended into anarchy and violent attacks (Myre). Again
direct
military intervention brought widespread violence in the country it was meant to
help. The
violence in this case also violates the human right to live safely, proving that direct
intervention
leaves negative impacts on the countries who receive it. In short, the direct
intervention s
significant harm proves that it should be scaled back. Indirect military intervention,

Confederation Act, when Britain declared war, Canada immediately came into the
war. More than 625,000 Canadians served in World War I

The Molly Maguires
Who were the Molly Maguires? Did they really exist? These are questions asked by
many people today. Some historians wonder if the Molly Maguires really did
bring their secret society from England to the United States, or if the incidents
blamed on them were just random accidents on which officials needed to place a
blame. We may never actually know... There are many ideas about how the Molly
Maguires got their name. One of the most popular is that Molly was a poor widow,
who was evicted from her home after the landlord s agent apparently, severely
abused her and her daughter . The group adopted this name in homage to the Molly
and her bravery. Another theory is that Molly s home was used as the first meeting
place of this new secret... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These crimes were then blamed on the Mollies in order to, hopefully, suppress their
extreme resistance. Many mine owners intimidated miners into complying with what
they wanted by maiming and murdering those suspected of union activism. The trials
for those who were believed to be involved with the Molly Maguires were merely
protocol. Society, the government, and the Catholic Church had already convicted
them. The man who acted as the state prosecutor in some of the cases is quoted to
have said, The name of a Molly Maguire being attached to a man s name is sufficient
to hang him . In many of the trials, the evidence was circumstantial at best and the
witnesses were supplying obviously false information. According to information
recently gathered by historians, the men charged were by no means absolutely guilty,
although it cannot be proved they were completely innocent. Throughout labor
history, there were many strike, as well as many acts of violence committed by both
the miners and the mine owners and bosses. Interestingly enough, none of this history
is taught in many schools across the country. In A History of the United States , a
tenth grade history textbook, there is only one paragraph stating: Miners in the
eastern Pennsylvania coal fields organized a secret

the organization, they take distinct fascination on the organization operation and help
the organization by giving significant administration proposals and suggestions (J.

partners of the organization appeared to depend all the more on the organization and
as an outcome, it gets to be simpler for the organizations to fire up a business in

essential weaknesses are given underneath for private value financing: The greatest

Solar Belt Research Paper
Never heard of a solar flare? No Problem! This next paragraph will explain what a
solar flare is and a little insight on how each stage, or factor, affects the Earth when
released. When magnetic energy that has built up in the sun s atmosphere is
suddenly released it creates a solar flare. Radiation is then released across most of
the electromagnetic spectrum and the amount of energy released is the equivalent to
millions of 100 megaton bombs exploding at the same time ( Solar Flares )! While
harmful radiation can t pass through the atmosphereof Earth, it can, when strong
enough, disrupt GPS and communication signals around the world ( Karen C. Fox).
A solar flare could reach temperatures from 20 million degrees Kelvin, or about
35,999,540В°F to 100 million degrees Kelvin, or around 179,999,540В°F. ( Solar
Flares ). These solar flares can still effect the Earth, although the scorching heat
cannot make it to the Earth, the electromagnetic radiation can. A solar flare can
temporarily disrupt communications systems and GPS satellites in Earth s
atmosphere (Karen C. Fox). An even more disruptive type of solar flare is a coronal
mass ejection. A solar flare strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the precursor stage where magnetic energy is released. In the second
stage, known as the impulsive stage, protons and electrons energies are
accelerated. During this stage radio waves, hard x rays, and gamma rays are
emitted. In the third stage, called the decay stage, is the buildup of soft x rays and
then the decay of the soft x rays. The duration of the precursor, impulsive, and
decay stages can take anywhere from a few seconds up to one hour. Solar flares form
in a layer of the sun called the corona, the outermost layer, where the gases can
reach a few million degrees Kelvin( Solar Flares ). Solar flares normally erupt from
sunspots. Typically, these sunspots are temporarily cooler, darker, and the local
magnetic field is relatively

The Importance Of Camping With Small Children
Many people think taking a toddler camping is just asking for stress, headaches and
complications. Actually, your toddler can learn a lot at a young age from a trip into
nature. Camping with small children can be an entertaining experience while giving
them the basic skills of life.
Surroundings
For toddlers, life is one huge learning experience. The simplest, most basic functions
of the natural world are fascinating and eye opening to them. Camping provides the
opportunity to teach your toddlers about nature and observing their surroundings.
While sitting around the campsite, imagine your toddler spotting a leaf falling from a
tree and the fascination in their eyes as it slowly floats to the ground. This is an
opportunity to teach them about the different trees, leaves, plants and shrubs that
surround them.
Basic Survival Skills
Children are never too young to begin learning basic survival skills. Here s one
that can be taught in the form of a game. Bring some marbles in a bag that the
toddler can carry. Other items can be used as well, but stick with non edible ones
for this lesson, or one of mother nature s little creatures may just eat your lesson
materials. Start at the edge of your campsite and choose a path into the woods that
is easy enough for them to walk with you. Have your toddler place marbles on the
ground every couple of feet to leave a trail to follow back to your site. Dropping and
re discovering the marbles will not only be a fun game, but will give

Raiders of the Lost Ark Review Raiders of the Lost Ark, also simply known by its
fan base as Raiders, is a classic adventure movie whose music, costume design, and
cinematography sets the bar for all other films. With iconic music such as Indiana
Jones s theme song The Raiders March, memorable costumes items such as Indy s
hat, and amazingly shot cinematographic scenes, Raiders of the Lost Arkis a classic
movie that will surely stand the test of time. Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by
Steven Spielberg and released on June 12, 1981. In this film, sometimes simply
referred to as Raiders, the protagonist (Harrison Ford) is none other than Indiana
Jones: professor, archeologist, and artifact collector. After being informed by US
Army Intelligence that the Nazis are after the lost Ark of the Covenant, which
contains the original ten commandments and supposedly holds the power to level
mountains, Indy sets off to go retrieve this artifact. Jones s quest for the Ark first
takes him to Nepal, where the daughter of his mentor and former love Marion
Ravenwood (Karen Allen) joins Indy in his search. They then fly to Cairo, Egypt,
where the chamber of the Ark supposedly lies. There they find that the Nazis have
already begun a massive excavation, lead by Indiana Jones s nemesis Dr. RenГ©
Belloq (Paul Freeman).
Raiders has a soundtrack that enhances upon the already great film. In 1982, Raiders
of the Lost Ark earned a BAFTA Nomination for Best Sound, Best Original Film

Joseph Heller, the author, was born in 1923 in Brooklyn, New York. Heller joined
the Air Force during World War II, and flew up to sixty missions as a wing

he wrote, Catch 22. It is generally agreed that Heller s war years... had only a

Lab Report 1 The Solar System During our first lab in Astronomy, we got to develop
and perform a hands on experiment of the overall scale of our Solar System. We got
to physically interact by demonstrating and constructing a model of our Solar System
by using a simple tool such as toilet paper. Who knew? We used the toilet paper
shown in the pictures as a visual representation to illustrate the overall scale of the
Solar System, to show the distance between each individual planet, and to represent
the distances of each planet from the Sun. We physically counted out each piece or
sheet of toilet paper to reach the destination of which the next or neighboring planet
was from its neighboring planet. We started with the Sun, then Mercury, Venus,
Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, until we finally reached our final planet,
Neptune. We drew dots to represent each planet. In our lab activity, we created and
demonstrated a relative scale model to show how the planets are aligned and the
distance between each of them. We created this model, so that we could better
understand the overall sizes of each planet and the distances of each of the planets
from the Sun. First, we used the model distance formula, which is model
distance=0.25 inches/1,391,900 km * actual distance in km. We used this formula to
calculate the distance in which each planet lies from the Sun. We found the overall
scale distance of each planet
Essay about Criticisms of Battered Woman Syndrome
The Battered Woman Syndrome (BWM) is a syndrome whereas women react in a
certain manner because of repetitively physical or psychological abused imposed
on them by their mates. The Battered Woman Syndrome (BMW) is not limited in
one area or location it is a problem that is occurring all over in the world (2009, pg.
148). Like every other issue in the world criticism come into play by psychologists
and others when someone claims that they are victims of the Battered Woman
Syndrome or the Battered Woman Defensewhen they are taken to trial for killing
their batterers (BMW) (2009, pgs. 162 163). One criticism in particularly relates to

The defense lawyer feels that the reaction of the battered woman after the death of
her batterer is very important, so they call the officer to the stand to ask him
questions about this particular time (2009, pg. 163). Two important and well
thought of forms of criticisms can come along with the battered woman syndrome,
one form is that women are categorized by others as being sensitive, powerless and
submissive when she is living with a batterer. Another form is that sometimes there
are deficiencies with the appropriate hypothetical and background information
which make it difficult to use in court (2009, pg. 178). There have been times
whereas lawyers and judges have misconstrued the use of the battered woman
syndrome and the fact that women claim that they were only defending
themselves. These lawyers and judges thinks that the battered woman defense is
used by experts only to clarify why the action of women as a battered woman.
When battered women claim self defense after killing their batterers some lawyers
takes on the role of partiality which produces inadequately defense for women.
Denial by society is another problem that women face as a battered woman or using
the battered woman defense. Sometimes the reaction of a lawyer and judge shows
up in disbelief and awkwardness when they find out the defendant is alleging the
battered woman syndrome to help with her defense. (Dowd 1991, pgs. 11 12).

Canadian Culture And Identity
In understanding body politics and spatial struggles, one cannot neglect the concept
of identity and what it means. The history of modern Canada has its history deep in
migration and settlement; from the aboriginal peoples, to the French and later
British. Over the years, discussions have entered academia with the aim of defining
an understanding Canadian cultureand identity. This project was aimed at finding
artists who has work that deals with this and established themselves in this field.
Camille Turner considers herself to be a media/performance artist and she is also
an educator. She came up with the idea of Miss Canadiana after a self conscious
episode, where she was concerned about the perception of her identity as a black

College Sports Is Not A Career Or Profession

Collegiate sports is not a career or profession. It is the students vehicle to a higher
education degree. Meaning that you only play collegesport for four year, if that. You
are at college to get an education and to get a job after and start your life. There are
only a select number of collegiate athletes that will go to the professionals. If you
are not one of those select few, but still receiving a scholarship, you are there to
play sport because it pays your tuition. Mitchell then says that most division one
athlete do not have time for a job, but maybe raising the financial aid would help
out. I think this would be a good idea, but if they increasing the financial aid, they
should make it available to all divisions. But, if it is increased, what happens if the
NCAA runs out of money to pay for all the athletes to go to college for free? Where
would the money come from then. No matter the situation involving the NCAA it
would take years and years of figuring out to even be considered. Kristi Dosh wrote
an article titled The Problems With Paying College Athletes . Her main argument
against athletes getting paid is, where will all the money come from? She says that
there are only fourteen schools that are making profit without have to rely on
institutional support. Those schools include, Notre Dame,
Taking a Look at Regular Warfare
As noted in the Small Wars Manual (SWM), Regular war never takes exactly the
form of any of its predecessors, so, even to a greater degree is each small war
somewhat different from anything that preceded it. The SMW was originally
published in 1935 and written as a response to a call for doctrine after the Philippine
War and numerous small wars in Central and South America, the banana wars.
Military leadership recognized the importance of irregular warfareand unfortunately
due to World War II, switched their focus towards regular warfare. However, some
would argue that WWII ended with a tone of irregular warfare due to the
development and use of the atomic bomb. It was outside the paradigm of
Napoleonic styled warfare with massive unit formations facing each other on the
plains of battle. Since a vast majority of wars over the last 100 years have been
fought using the irregular warfare construct it would be extremely important for
the US military to train and equip a sizable piece of the force to focus on fighting
an irregular war. However, this does not negate the need to train and equip forces to
fight a regular war. Our strategic policy should be to fully incorporate irregular
warfare into our defense industrial complex to provide for the greatest coverage of
war contingencies.
Neither type of war should take priority over the other. In fact, each is dependent on
each other. We need the ships, planes, and tactical logistics equipment to provide
irregular warfighters

A Comparison Of Power In England And The Dutch
Republic
The constitutional state triumphed in England and the Dutch Republic because
there were limitations placed on a monarchy s power while giving the people right
to power and governing the people in fairness with the result of the Glorious
Revolution and the Dutch gaining independence from Spain. The English defined
the Glorious Revolution as great because it allowed the replacement of a king with
minimal bloodshed and putting away the idea of a divine right monarchy. The
limitation of monarchy s power by the revolution led to sovereignty and ultimate
power in the state to be divided between the king and Parliament while the king
being ruled with the consent of the governed. Laws came in place with the
occurrence of the Glorious Revolution; for example, once a law is... Show more

The Protestants were allowed to keep and bear arms while the Catholics did not have
that privilege. In addition, the Catholic could inherit the throne and also the Catholics
were not to be worshipped; but the worship of Protestant dissenters was permissible.
A key political philosopher by the name of John Locke insight provided defense for
the Glorious Revolution and representative government. Locke s defined a
government tyranny if the government violates the function of protecting the rights
of life, liberty, and property. This statement signifies the power of the people by
mentioning the people have the right to rebel from the operation of tyrannical
government because the people are capable of reasoning proceedings. England
remained to have sovereignty in the Parliament and also represented the upper classes
while being influenced by Locke s philosophy. The Dutch formulated ideas that
shaped a new approach after the treaty that ended the Thirty Years War with the Dutch
and gaining their independence from Spain that led to creating their own model of a
constitutional state. The Dutch began a republic that enabled the people to have the
power and elected representatives as well.
Influence Of Confucius Ideas On Government
Confucius Ideas On Government:Confucius imagined the government as a social
order led by reasonable, cordial, and just men, not by individuals peremptorily
empowered by hereditary status, and warned of the social consequences if men in
positions of power tried to benefit themselves with their decisions rather than the
public. Confuciusenvisioned the family as a role model for the government.
Confucius says that if the conduct of an official is not correct, he may issue orders,
but they will not be followed.
Confucius Ideas On Morality:Confucius believed that if people live loyal
trustworthy lives then the emphasis on loyalty and trustworthiness would inevitably
spread to all of society. Confucius also believed that is is every person s personal
duty to set a good example for others that they came into contact with. Confucius
believed strongly that moral education should be taught very predominately. He said

Passing By Nella Larsen
Literature in the past failed to represent women in an effective manner, erasing their
self identity and relationships with one another but, certain female authors have
attempted to create and demonstrate the bond between women and their
relationships. This essay will analyze Virginia Woolf s reading to Chloe likes Olivia

Carmichael work saying she has every right to attempt new forms and styles, as
long as she is creating something new rather than merely destroying what has gone

example, the relationship between Clare and Irene was more so a psychological
struggle between females. These women both were in this psycho dual process in
which there are two processing systems operating by different rules. There is one
view universally known (stereotypes) then the view that isn t shared by others.
They also experienced double consciousness which means society judged them one
way while they absorbed what society thought of them and mentally judged
themselves. Clare knew genetically she was black while she spoke, dressed, and
truly believed she was white. All lineages with her black side was stripped and
banned due to negative connotations with that race and positive with the other. Irene
on the other hand embraced her Black race but wanted pieces of Clare s white world.

The realm of elder law covers an array of legal issues, ranging from decisions that
must be made about a relative s home health care to appointing a guardian for an
elderly loved one. These decisions often become emotional, and may cause
permanent rifts in families. Many family members have submitted their elder law
disputes to mediation for a more peaceful resolution to these disagreements. Elder

reimbursement of uninsured medical expenses must be addressed in any child
support order. Uninsured medical expenses are the portions of a child s medical costs
that insurance does not cover. After a divorce or separation, parents commonly argue
about the reimbursement of uninsured medical expenses. Family mediation may help
these parents figure out how this matter should be approached. During family
mediation, a mediator will discuss the dispute with the parties and help them figure
out how to resolve it. With disputes involving the reimbursement of uninsured
medical expenses, ineffective communication is usually the culprit. The mediator
may suggest a number of ways to resolve these issues. For example, for all expenses,
receipts or invoices should be exchanged within seven days, and reimbursement
should be completed within an additional seven days. Clear expectations and
deadlines will make this process much

My Beautiful Day
Just one more hour... just one more, I remember saying to myself as I watched the
clock tick by tick, tick, tick. I was so anxious I could barely sit still. I was 7 years

excited I couldn t stand it, it got to a point where I started annoying my mom

Othello Illusion Vs Reality Essay
Every day we are constantly meeting new people and with meeting new people
comes new personalities. Some may be our friend while others may be hypocritical.
But at the end true colors are revealed. Illusion verses reality is one of the many
themes expressed in Othello by William Shakespeare. There are many examples
shown through the character Othellowhere the misconception of illusionand reality
leads to misfortune. This is displayed when Othello develops an outrageous jealousy
due to Iago manipulating him, or when there s irrelevant hatred created between
Othello and Cassio because of these manipulations. When Iago s schemes work it
fools Othello s gullible personality, resulting in him doubting his love for Desdemona.

Due to Iago s perception of Othello being naГЇve, Iago uses his phenomenal
understanding of the human psyche as his ability to orchestrate pre planned
scenarios. Iago is successfully and carefully able to manipulate Othello s thoughts
into thinking Desdemona has been unfaithful and that it was false love. I called
my love false love, but what he said then? (IV, iii, 59) This is significant because
Desdemona is beginning to realize that the love Othello had for her must have
been false she s worried that Othello will leave her. Due to Othello s inability to
differentiate between delusion and reality it s bringing forth disaster leading to
their relationship suffering. Othello being able to trust people easily allowed Iago
s words to manipulate him into making a tremendously poor decision which was
killing Desdemona. Put out the light, and then put out the light, (V,ii, 7) This quote
is paramount because Othello blows out the candle just before he strangles
Desdemona which symbolizes Desdemona s fragile life and because he is so
manipulated by Iago there is no turning back and he is ready to kill her. Othello
muses that the difference between Desdemona s life and a candle s light is that he
can put out and relight the candle but he cannot bring Desdemona back to life. The
thought of not being able to bring Desdemona back to life did not stop him from
murdering Desdemona,

Reasearch on the Brain Functions of Autistic Children
In the late 1990 s, researchers from the University of California, San Diego wanted to
know if there was connection between mirror neurons and autism.1 They
hypothesized that since these neurons play a role in a person s ability to feel
empathy, they found it sensible to think it might be the cause of autistic symptoms.1
Autismis a disorder found among children where areas of the brainfail to work thus
makes it difficult for individuals to communicate.4
A researcher, Giacomo Rizzolatti at the University of Parma Italy, conducted a study
in the 1990 s studying Macacas. His group studied the motor command neuron from
the premotor cortex. The neuron is part of the frontal lobe that is responsible for
voluntary movements. Electrodes were hooked up to the brain and the macacas had
to perform goal oriented actions.1 When a macaca reached for a peanut, the same
exact neuron from another monkey observing them was fired also. This action
surprised Giacomo and his colleagues. They found out the neuron is also found in the
same regions as the human cortex1. Further research of the mirror neurons were
shown to be located in different parts of the brain such as the insular and cingulate
cortices. They found out that the neurons at the anterior cingulate cortex are fired
when a person is in pain and the same goes for the person who watches them1. It was
concluded that mirror neurons are seen to be performing similar functions that is
found in autism meaning that if there was a

During this period cellular or mobile communications has begun to rapidly grow. The
amount of time spent on network allocation, concentration, usage, and maintenance

Setting In Montana 1948 And A River Runs Through It
Everyone is affected by the environment they grow up in. Not everyone will have
the same opportunities in life because of where they live. Similarly, the setting
influences characters into their decisions and beliefs. The setting is a major factor
in how the characters make their decisions. In Montana 1948, the stigma around
Indians made Frank feel that his actions were acceptable. On page 112, David s

near their town. They never would have done this if it weren t a small town in

The Racial Justice Social Movement
The Racial Justice Social Movement
Introduction
Civil Rights Movements recollections are responsible for shaping how people
behave in society as well as the numerous protests on human rights that are seen in
present day. What was evidenced back in the 1950s and 60s was focused on breaking
racial barriers which were centered around degrading, confining and marginalizing the
minority population of the United States. The case is relatively different in present
day, what is conceptualized is a case of people supporting the movement driven by
different purposes. With the history of what transpired throughout time is what
shapes our daily politics. Social movements of the 19th and 20th Century are
responsible for shaping progressive thought. The movements were driven by the
need for racial disenfranchisement with legal requirements of segregation were
constitutionally inconsistent with a focus on its eradication. What was
conceptualized back in the early 20th Century is a case scenario where the women
suffrage, environmental protection to dismantlement of Jim Crow laws. These were

Essay Problem Analysis of Cott Corporation
Group Assignment #1:
Problem Analysis of Cott Corporation
Group Assignment #1 Cott Corporation
Summary
Cott was found by a Montreal clothier, Harry Pencer in 1955. The company
imported bottled and canned soft drink into Quebec from the US. After Harry
Pencer s death in 1983, his three sons, Samuel, Gerry, and Bill, inherited Cott. Once
Gerry Pencer became CEO of Cott in 1988, he transformed Cott into the largest
supplier of private label soft drinks in the world. Under his leadership, Cott increased
the competitiveness of private label soft drinks by lowering the production costs,
raising quality, and improving its packaging. After the death of Garry... Show more

There may be economic reasons for this drastic increase, or the expansion
opportunities. Their joint venture with Embotelladora de Puebla could have had
some influence in these numbers. In 2004 the percentage change from the previous
year shows a slight decrease, and the cumulative change also shows a slight decrease
from the 2003 cumulate change. Both of these figure show that the company should
proceed with caution when attempting any actions that will require a large investment.

The US dominates most of the Cott s sales for 2004. This could be a disadvantage
for Cott since they rely heavily on their sales from only one region. They should be
aware of this vulnerability and take steps to mitigate this disadvantage.
Qualitative analysis
Other than financial factors, Cott would also need to consider factors beyond number
crunching. They would need to consider customer attitudes towards the Cott brand, as
well as brands that want to buy the Cott product. They will need to keep up their
quality standards to meet those that can compete with Pepsi and Coke; otherwise,
their product will not provide customers with the comparable value. Consumer

Essay about Reagan and Gorbachev
Reagan and Gorbachev
During his first term, Reagan denounced the pre Gorbachev Soviet Union as an evil
empire.
The Cold War took place between the United States (US) and the Union of Soviet
Socialist Republics (USSR) from the mid 1940 s to the early 1990s. It was a cold
war in the sense that there was never any military engagement between the US and
the USSR, but during the Cold War both superpowers invested in many different
weapons. The Cold War finally started to wind down in the late 1980 s due to
Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev s cooperation.
In 1971, Mikhail Gorbachev had been chosen to the Key Panel, which was comprised

American Art Comparison
I am comparing and contrasting two pieces of American artwork. The two pieces
are called Sun Bath by Grace Ballentine and Untitled in which the artist is
unknown. First, I am comparing the two pieces of art. Some of the similarities are
that they were made about the same time period. Sun Bath was made in 1946 and
Untitled was made around 1933 1943. Also both of the pieces contain animals. Sun
Bath has a cat and Untitled has two wolves. Another similarity is that they are both
in black and white.. Both of the pieces subjects look to be resting because the cat is
asleep and the wolves are laying down looking like they are getting prepared to rest
for the night. There were not very many similarities between the works but there were
Perpustakaan Negara and Pusat Sains Negara
Other than that, both the National Library, Perpustakaan Negara , and The National
Science Centre, Pusat Sains Negara , have the same purposes in which to allow the
public gain knowledges from their visits. The National Library building design was
influenced by the concept of a traditional Malay men head gear called tengkolok
songket which can be seen exteriorly.
Most of the public building as mentioned above used a traditional approach in it s
design concept. This indicated that part of the traditional influences is still being use
locally in the progress of forming the urban characteristic of Kuala Lumpur.
Other than all the mentioned buildings in previous pages, the other major
components in contributing urbanism in Malaysia is the old local shophouses which
also had been the source of economic growth and helps in the local urban
development around 1970s.
In 20th century, three storey shophouses were built in Kuala Lumpur and had been
quite popular in comparison to other single and double storey shophouses in other
places due to the high demand of land values and urban progression to accommodate
increasing capacity, also to provides enough neccessities and needs of the town
people back at that time. Although the storey height of the shophouses is increasing,
the plot arrangement and layout remains the same along the existing street following
the traditional method of linkages. Practically, this kind of development using the
traditional linear style blocks along
Nietzsche Chapter 17
Jonathan Liddle
Chapter 17 Essay Friedrich Nietzsche begins with a proposition that there are only
two basic types of morality Slave morality and Master Morality. These types of
moralities that Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was actually
made up of masters and slaves. In society masters were completely free and slaves
simply did whatever their masters said. Based on their respected situations Nietzsche
argues these groups of people came up with two very different types of morality. Of
course there are no longer any literal masters and slaves in todays society, however
Nietzsche proposes while master and slaves no longer exist, the moral systems they
came up with do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you re a slave then your entire life is dominated by your master, everything you
do is for him/her. Clearly in this position as a slave, you will come to resent your
master, in fact you will come to resent your master so much that you will begin to
think of your master as evil and everything that she values is equally evil. Moral
evil enters the picture in slave morality as a form of resentment for the master and
everything the master values things like courage, pride, nobility and bravery. So if
slave morality gets off the ground by thinking about the evil master, then where
does goodness come into the picture for slave morality? The slave will think about
it like this, evil is the opposite of goodness, I am the opposite of the master and the
master is evil. Therefore, it must be good to be a slave. Moral goodness in other
words means being a good slave. For instance, a good slave is humble, never draws
attention to himself, so it must be morally good to be humble. A good slave is also
blindly obedient. Does whatever he is told without questioning. Therefore, blind
obedience must be a good
The Autodefensa Movement In Mexico
In general, the autodefensa movement in Mexico s western state of MichoacГЎn was
an impressive reaction towards organized crime. The autodefensa movement is a
vigilante self defense groups that were brought together in MichoacГЎn to fight
against the Caballeros Templarios cartel. The people of MichoacГЎn were sick of the
violence, extortions, and how the local and state government were indirectly involved
with the drug cartel. The person I interviewed was Ivan who was involved in the
autodefensa movement in Tepalcatepec, MichoacГЎn. When I conducted the
interview through the phone with Ivan since he was still in Mexico, his responses to
the questions such as why you joined the movement were plain, but you can notice in
his voice a sense of pride... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

while building a social base in the Mexican state of MichoacГЎn. The Familia

family values. For example, in an event that took place in Uruapan in September
2006, the cartel members tossed five severed heads onto the dance floor of the Sol

The Death Penalty Sentence For Juvenile Offenders
The death penalty sentence for juvenile offenders is an intense issue that creates
polarizing ongoing debates. An example of a case needing scrutiny is the Supreme
Court of the United States decision in Roper v. Simmons, where the decision was
made by one vote difference. In this case, however, the situation was complex, as
the defendant was under the age of 18. So, based on the decision made by the
court, I believe the case was decided properly based on the Legal Realism theory. I
agree with the idea that the death penalty for juveniles is unconstitutional and
cruel, the same way it is for an adult. It should not be applied for capital crimes,
although murder should receive a serious punishment for public safety, unless the
case was an accident, or defending something you hold dear or self defense. The 8th
Amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail,
excessive fines or cruel and unusual punishment which are the most quoted reasons
to abolish the death penalty with the 14th amendment s due process clause. It
might be agreeable that murder can be justified if something threatens your
survival you will do what it takes to survive, especially in these days of mass
shootings and mass murderers in public places. Catching someone in the act of
physical or sexual abuse of another is also a point of contention when discussing the
justification of murder. If a child is a victim of abuse and kills their abuser, how do
we adjudicate that child? After

A Modest Proposal By Johnathan Swift
Does Johnathan Swift actually believe cannibalism will help the economy? Besides
the obvious health concerns about cannibalism, Johnathan Swift does make some
odd but questionably thought out points, however there is evidence to prove that
Swift is only being satirical. This evidence can be seen in Swift s past, where he has
offered real solutions to Irelands economic problems, only to be ignored. In a
frustrated attempt to get attention, he came up with the the famous A Modest Proposal
, where he detailed a disgraceful way to increase profits. Satirecan also be shown here
where he refers to women as breeders, and compares the poor to animals. Finally, a
satirical quality that is the most adherent is the small dry jokes that he makes.
Firstly, in spite of how it may appear, Johnathan Swift is not a mad man who
believes cannibalism will fix the economy s problems. As stated before, Swift had
made multiple attempts to garner attention to his proposals, but to no avail. He s
even made pamphlets in the past describing ways to help the economy. These
pamphlets also detailed his disdain for England, but nonetheless, he tried. Throughout
the proposal, he expresses his anger towards Ireland s colonial rule under England, in
hopes of getting at least one of his points across. ... Show more content on

Comparison Of Gish Jen, George Orwell And Isabel Allende
Source: Gish Jen, Sebastian Junger, George Orwell and Isabel Allende
I.Rhetorical Context (Who wrote it or created? Why was it written? What is it
trying to do to or for its readers? What is it? Where does it appear? When was it
published?) Isabel Allende is the first author who writes a story which later
becomes an obsession. The main reason as to why she often writes is to have an
impact on both the heart and mind of the reader. The work appears in the Bay Area
literary scene a historical fiction that bare all memoirs of sex and food which was
published in 2010. Sebastian Junger is the second author who writes to give people
what they want to read. He tries to engage the readers and make his piece of writing
compelling and accessible. Junger s work was published by New York Times in
2010. Gish Jen is the third author and she writes because writing is part and parcel
of her life. Her work was published by The New Republic in 2010. The fourth
author is George Orwell her passion coming from an early age of five or six which
comes out to be conscious that was outranging George s true nature. George wants
the readers to know about the different degrees that the writers have in terms of sheer
egoism, aesthetic enthusiasm, historical impulse and political purpose. The works of
George was published in 1946 in GB, London.
II.Summary (What does the text say? What are its main points? What did you find
most interesting?) One of the main points in Isabella works is
Death Of Death And Death
Throughout my entire life I have never really given much thought to the subject of
death. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself
to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy
going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched
on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely
ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known
that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death
and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my
answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook
as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality
(Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to
death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my
own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death.
When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of
panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general
have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person
in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have
learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.
Essay On Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone is the worlds first national park. It was origanally home to Native
Americans who lived in the Yellowstone area for at least 11,000 years. The U.S.
Army was first commissioned to oversee the park just after its establishment in late
1960. In 1917, administration of the park was transferred to the National Park Service
. Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles (8,983 km2),
mostly comprising lakes, rivers canyons and mountain ranges. The national park is
located primarily in the state of Wyoming, although it also extends into Montana and
Idaho. It was established by the U.S. Congressand signed into law by President

Located in the southwest corner of Yellowstone park lays the Old Faithful Geyser.
A cone shaped geyser that erupts faithfully every 35 to 120 minutes. Eruptions can
shoot 3,700 to 8,400 US gallons (14,000 to 32,000 L) of boiling water to a height
of 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) lasting from 1.5 to 5 minutes. The average height of
an eruption is 145. There is evidence of many other geysers on thw floorof
Yellowstone lake, and have been doing so approximately 1300 years ago. The
Yellowstone volcano is very active volcanic system which requires much
observation. The geysers, mudd pots, hotsprings and steam vents are all examples
of the heat from molten rock of a volcano. For many years the Yellowstone volcano
could not be located. There is not obvious signs of a volcano, but scientists looked
for other clues. Rhyolite is present in a location that has pinetress and many
mosquitoes can be found due to the lakes that have formed. Rhyolite is a very
violent eruption, due to the high silica content, it flows slowly, like honey, and tends
to pile up and form lava
Bacteria and Fungi Research Paper
What are bacteria?
Bacteria are very different from viruses. First of all, bacteria are much larger in
size. The largest virus is only as big as the very smallest bacterium (singular for
bacteria). But bacteria are still microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye.
They are so small that the sizes of bacteria are measured in micrometers (10,000
micrometers = 1 centimeter). By comparison, the head of a pin is about 1000
micrometers wide. Though more complex than a virus, the structure of a bacterium is
still relatively simple.
пїјStructure:Most bacteria have an outer, rigid cell wall. This provides shape and
support. Lining the inside of the cell wall is a plasma membrane. This is like the
membrane found around all living cells that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The combination of these two characteristics gives the final rating of the bacteria s
virulence (ability to cause disease). A species does not necessarily need to have both
high invasiveness and high toxigenicity to be rated highly virulent. One or the other
can be high enough to cause the bacterium to be very virulent. For example, the
bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae (causes pnuemonia) does not produce a toxin,
but it is so highly invasive that it causes the lungs to fill up with fluid from the
immune response. In contrast, the bacteria Clostridium tetani (causes tetanus) is not
very invasive, but it produces a potent toxin that causes damage at a very small
concentration.
How does the body fight off a bacterial infection? Again, the body mounts an immune
response to the foreign invader, producing antibodies for immediate help and future
protection. Since this process takes about a week, antibiotics are usually employed in
the meantime. Antibiotic drugs are usually only successful in treating bacterial
infections, not viral, or fungal infections. Professionals are becoming concerned that
the overuse of antibiotics when they are not needed may lead to the mutation of
normal bacteria into antibiotic resistant bacteria. Bacteria are very resilient and have

Essay On Luck

  • 1. Essay On Luck Crafting an essay on the topic of luck is a task that requires a delicate balance between personal experiences, philosophical musings, and empirical evidence. Luck, by its very nature, is a concept that eludes precise definition, making it a challenge to capture its essence in words. The difficulty lies not only in conveying the abstract nature of luck but also in navigating the diverse perspectives that individuals hold regarding this elusive phenomenon. One must tread carefully when delving into personal anecdotes, as the subjectivity of luck means that what may be considered fortunate for one person could be viewed as mere chance by another. Attempting to strike a universal chord while discussing luck demands a nuanced approach, acknowledging the cultural, social, and psychological factors that shape individual perceptions. Additionally, the essay must grapple with the philosophical dimensions of luck. Does luck stem from fate, random chance, or individual choices? Addressing these fundamental questions requires a deep exploration of various philosophical frameworks, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. Moreover, integrating empirical evidence and research findings into the essay poses its own set of challenges. Luck, being a subjective concept, is not easily quantifiable, and scholarly literature on the topic may offer conflicting perspectives. Balancing anecdotal evidence with academic rigor is a delicate dance, demanding meticulous research and critical thinking. In conclusion, tackling an essay on luck requires a deft touch in weaving together personal experiences, philosophical insights, and empirical evidence. The complexity of the subject, coupled with its inherent subjectivity, makes this writing task a formidable one. Navigating the nuances of luck necessitates a thoughtful and thorough exploration of various perspectives, ensuring a well-rounded and nuanced discussion. • 3. The Importance Of Architecture In everyday life, most people experience the work of Architects in many forms, like a school, or perhaps a house. However, architecture is much more than just the design of buildings and houses. It is a vital part of the construction process, which is a main component of the Gross Domestic Product, and can effect or be effected by local or national economies. Its importance is undervalued in the workforce, and its effect on the economy is underrated. Architectureis effected by the amount of raw materials, and the willingness of people to spend money on new developments or buildings. Architecture affects the economy by supplying new sources of revenue, such as new sports arenas, shopping malls, and infrastructure projects, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If these are not present, there is no opportunity to break ground on, and even plan new projects. The demand for architecture is directly related to the economic state at a current time. As the economy grows in prosperity, the demand for architecture increases. This is because architecture relies on the ability to spend money to buy land and develop buildings. When an economy is in a recession, there is less money circulating in an economic system, meaning less can be used to develop land or to buy land. In a recession people tend to save money because there is a fall in confidence. If people expect to be made unemployed then you don t want to spend and borrow, it is less risky to save (Pettinger 2008). In 2008, the United States was struck by a recession, which caused a massive downturn in the production of the industries of architecture and construction. The financial crisis of 2008 had an outsized impact on the design and construction industries. No sector of the economy was hit harder than were construction (both residential and nonresidential), architecture, and engineering. (O Brien 2014) The fields of Architecture and Construction were hit unprecedentedly hard due to the fact that the housing bubble had burst, and the ownership for houses reached its lowest rate since 1967 in 2015 according to CNBC. IV. Architecture is a vital component of a major portion of the United States Gross

Cast and Crew of 3 Idiots Date: November 21, 2013 From: Anubha Bang To: Cast and Crew of 3 Idiots and Chetan Bhagat Re:Story Credit Row 3 Idiots is the highest grossing box office hit in India s movie history. To date, the film has collected USD 60M worldwide from theatrical ticket sales. But, 3 Idiots is better known for the story credit controversy that surrounded its release in December 2010 than the actual content of the movie. The author of the book Five Point Someone, from which the movie is allegedly adapted, has accused the makers of the film from denying him due credit. This is a classic problem in the Indian movie industry where unknown writers are pushed over by more financially secure directors and producers. However, in this... He was a fairly well known author, but having a Bollywood film under your belt is a whole different game and he may have been all too eager to get this achievement on his resume. His BATNA to the contract he entered in, was to not have the movie made at all and this was definitely such an undesirable outcome for him that his reservation/indifference point was way below that of the filmmakers . The producer of the film was aware of Bhagat s reservation point and was thus able to strike a deal without clearly specifying the credit clause. The producer created value for himself by withholding critical information and capitalizing on Bhagat s overindulgence in trading information. Thus, Bhagat would have been better off by reserving some of his enthusiasm and maybe biding time and approaching other production houses to ensure a fairer negotiation. While writing this memo, I contacted both the parties involved and was fortunate enough to get a comment from the author, Chetan Bhagat. He confirmed the following, At the time of signing a contract my writing career had just started to take off and there were substantial bargaining asymmetries between an individual author and a production powerhouse with ample financial and political muscle. So much for the freedom of contract! Thus, if the makers were not as involved in self

The state of terror and violence that exists in many parts of this strategically invaluable region brings into focus many controversial issues and questions. Many experts wonder: What can the world do to stop terrorism? How can unstable nations create strong, stable, and long lasting governments? Has United States policy failed the region? • 9. The Molly Maguires Who were the Molly Maguires? Did they really exist? These are questions asked by many people today. Some historians wonder if the Molly Maguires really did bring their secret society from England to the United States, or if the incidents blamed on them were just random accidents on which officials needed to place a blame. We may never actually know... There are many ideas about how the Molly Maguires got their name. One of the most popular is that Molly was a poor widow, who was evicted from her home after the landlord s agent apparently, severely abused her and her daughter . The group adopted this name in homage to the Molly and her bravery. Another theory is that Molly s home was used as the first meeting place of this new secret... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These crimes were then blamed on the Mollies in order to, hopefully, suppress their extreme resistance. Many mine owners intimidated miners into complying with what they wanted by maiming and murdering those suspected of union activism. The trials for those who were believed to be involved with the Molly Maguires were merely protocol. Society, the government, and the Catholic Church had already convicted them. The man who acted as the state prosecutor in some of the cases is quoted to have said, The name of a Molly Maguire being attached to a man s name is sufficient to hang him . In many of the trials, the evidence was circumstantial at best and the witnesses were supplying obviously false information. According to information recently gathered by historians, the men charged were by no means absolutely guilty, although it cannot be proved they were completely innocent. Throughout labor history, there were many strike, as well as many acts of violence committed by both the miners and the mine owners and bosses. Interestingly enough, none of this history is taught in many schools across the country. In A History of the United States , a tenth grade history textbook, there is only one paragraph stating: Miners in the eastern Pennsylvania coal fields organized a secret

This next paragraph will explain what a solar flare is and a little insight on how each stage, or factor, affects the Earth when released. When magnetic energy that has built up in the sun s atmosphere is suddenly released it creates a solar flare. Radiation is then released across most of the electromagnetic spectrum and the amount of energy released is the equivalent to millions of 100 megaton bombs exploding at the same time ( Solar Flares )! While harmful radiation can t pass through the atmosphereof Earth, it can, when strong enough, disrupt GPS and communication signals around the world ( Karen C. Fox). Actually, your toddler can learn a lot at a young age from a trip into nature. Camping with small children can be an entertaining experience while giving them the basic skills of life. Surroundings For toddlers, life is one huge learning experience. The simplest, most basic functions of the natural world are fascinating and eye opening to them. Camping provides the opportunity to teach your toddlers about nature and observing their surroundings. While sitting around the campsite, imagine your toddler spotting a leaf falling from a tree and the fascination in their eyes as it slowly floats to the ground. This is an opportunity to teach them about the different trees, leaves, plants and shrubs that surround them. Basic Survival Skills Children are never too young to begin learning basic survival skills. Here s one that can be taught in the form of a game. Bring some marbles in a bag that the toddler can carry. Other items can be used as well, but stick with non edible ones for this lesson, or one of mother nature s little creatures may just eat your lesson materials. Analysis Of Raiders Of The Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark Review Raiders of the Lost Ark, also simply known by its fan base as Raiders, is a classic adventure movie whose music, costume design, and cinematography sets the bar for all other films. With iconic music such as Indiana Jones s theme song The Raiders March, memorable costumes items such as Indy s hat, and amazingly shot cinematographic scenes, Raiders of the Lost Arkis a classic movie that will surely stand the test of time. Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg and released on June 12, 1981. This is an exciting time for our university and our community, and we have a lot to be thankful for. Spring commencement is coming up in a few days, and we will be awarding around 2,600 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Our total for the academic year will surpass 4,000 for the fifth year in a row. Providing more college educated workers and leaders for our state is a top priority. We just produced our 18th Truman Scholar. It is the second year in a row that one of our students has earned that high honor, recognizing the nation s top students planning careers in public service. This spring we also had a new Goldwater Scholar, a prestigious national honor for students in science, engineering and technology. Our baseball team is back near the top, ranked in the top five nationally and shutting out Ole Miss in the Governor s Cup last week. Our women s basketball team had its best season ever, reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. The support of our alumni and friends is amazing. A few months ago our current Infinite Impact capital campaign reached its $600 million goal, three years ahead of schedule. And as you may have read or heard, last week we announced a new goal $1 billion by the end of 2018 the largest campaign goal ever for an educational institution in Mississippi. We got to physically interact by demonstrating and constructing a model of our Solar System by using a simple tool such as toilet paper. Who knew? We used the toilet paper shown in the pictures as a visual representation to illustrate the overall scale of the Solar System, to show the distance between each individual planet, and to represent the distances of each planet from the Sun. We physically counted out each piece or sheet of toilet paper to reach the destination of which the next or neighboring planet was from its neighboring planet. We started with the Sun, then Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, until we finally reached our final planet, Neptune. We drew dots to represent each planet. In our lab activity, we created and demonstrated a relative scale model to show how the planets are aligned and the distance between each of them. We created this model, so that we could better understand the overall sizes of each planet and the distances of each of the planets from the Sun. First, we used the model distance formula, which is model distance=0.25 inches/1,391,900 km * actual distance in km. We used this formula to calculate the distance in which each planet lies from the Sun. We found the overall scale distance of each planet

Another form is that sometimes there are deficiencies with the appropriate hypothetical and background information which make it difficult to use in court (2009, pg. 178). In the article, Mitchell said Collegiate sports is not a career or profession. It is the students vehicle to a higher education degree. Meaning that you only play collegesport for four year, if that. You are at college to get an education and to get a job after and start your life. There are only a select number of collegiate athletes that will go to the professionals. If you are not one of those select few, but still receiving a scholarship, you are there to play sport because it pays your tuition. Mitchell then says that most division one athlete do not have time for a job, but maybe raising the financial aid would help out. I think this would be a good idea, but if they increasing the financial aid, they should make it available to all divisions. But, if it is increased, what happens if the NCAA runs out of money to pay for all the athletes to go to college for free? Where would the money come from then. No matter the situation involving the NCAA it would take years and years of figuring out to even be considered. Kristi Dosh wrote an article titled The Problems With Paying College Athletes . Her main argument against athletes getting paid is, where will all the money come from? She says that there are only fourteen schools that are making profit without have to rely on institutional support. Those schools include, Notre Dame,

Taking a Look at Regular Warfare As noted in the Small Wars Manual (SWM), Regular war never takes exactly the form of any of its predecessors, so, even to a greater degree is each small war somewhat different from anything that preceded it. The SMW was originally published in 1935 and written as a response to a call for doctrine after the Philippine War and numerous small wars in Central and South America, the banana wars. Military leadership recognized the importance of irregular warfareand unfortunately due to World War II, switched their focus towards regular warfare. However, some would argue that WWII ended with a tone of irregular warfare due to the development and use of the atomic bomb. It was outside the paradigm of Napoleonic styled warfare with massive unit formations facing each other on the plains of battle. Since a vast majority of wars over the last 100 years have been fought using the irregular warfare construct it would be extremely important for the US military to train and equip a sizable piece of the force to focus on fighting an irregular war. However, this does not negate the need to train and equip forces to fight a regular war. Our strategic policy should be to fully incorporate irregular warfare into our defense industrial complex to provide for the greatest coverage of war contingencies. Neither type of war should take priority over the other. In fact, each is dependent on each other. We need the ships, planes, and tactical logistics equipment to provide irregular warfighters

Self Organizing Network Functions and Architectures Mitch Harris Murray State University TSM 321 Abstract The purpose of this write up is to introduce fundamental designs and architectures of Self Organizing Networks. This concept was presented during the transitional period from 3G to 4G technology. During this period mobile communications began to grow rapidly. Self Organizing Network functions are separated into three major groups: self configuration, self optimization, and self healing. Self configuration allows devices to function properly with a system the instant they are connected. Self optimization supports networks by examining the performance of a system and modifying procedures to operate at an efficient level.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this period cellular or mobile communications has begun to rapidly grow. The amount of time spent on network allocation, concentration, usage, and maintenance for these newer technologies were starting to become more complicated. The Third Generation Partnership project (3GPP) and Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) organizations were the first to introduce the Self Organizing Network (SON) concept. This new technological automation concept was specifically designed to make planning, configuring, managing, optimizing, and troubling shooting networks simpler and more efficient. The first technology to incorporate SON features into its design was LTE, but SON was also designed to support older technologies such as UMTS. With this capability base stations would be capable of optimizing specific parameters with complex algorithms that would observe performance and enhance the network. Self Organizing Network Functions SON functions are commonly separated into three major groups, each of which contain a broad range of algorithmic equations. These groups are commonly referred to as: Self Configuration Self Optimization Self Healing Self Organizing Networks Self Configuration The self configuration feature of SON allows new cell locations to be added using a Plug and Play approach. This approach allows devices to function properly with a system the

The Racial Justice Social Movement The Racial Justice Social Movement Introduction Civil Rights Movements recollections are responsible for shaping how people behave in society as well as the numerous protests on human rights that are seen in present day. What was evidenced back in the 1950s and 60s was focused on breaking racial barriers which were centered around degrading, confining and marginalizing the minority population of the United States. The case is relatively different in present day, what is conceptualized is a case of people supporting the movement driven by different purposes. With the history of what transpired throughout time is what shapes our daily politics. Social movements of the 19th and 20th Century are responsible for shaping progressive thought. The movements were driven by the need for racial disenfranchisement with legal requirements of segregation were constitutionally inconsistent with a focus on its eradication. What was conceptualized back in the early 20th Century is a case scenario where the women suffrage, environmental protection to dismantlement of Jim Crow laws. These were considered as relatively utopian ideas but that is not the case in present day where they are considered as being common sense. Radical issues for yester years have been considered into mainstream policy formulation of present day. Moral evil enters the picture in slave morality as a form of resentment for the master and everything the master values things like courage, pride, nobility and bravery. So if slave morality gets off the ground by thinking about the evil master, then where does goodness come into the picture for slave morality? The slave will think about it like this, evil is the opposite of goodness, I am the opposite of the master and the master is evil. Therefore, it must be good to be a slave. • 49. The Death Penalty Sentence For Juvenile Offenders The death penalty sentence for juvenile offenders is an intense issue that creates polarizing ongoing debates. An example of a case needing scrutiny is the Supreme Court of the United States decision in Roper v. Simmons, where the decision was made by one vote difference. In this case, however, the situation was complex, as the defendant was under the age of 18. So, based on the decision made by the court, I believe the case was decided properly based on the Legal Realism theory. I agree with the idea that the death penalty for juveniles is unconstitutional and cruel, the same way it is for an adult. It should not be applied for capital crimes, although murder should receive a serious punishment for public safety, unless the case was an accident, or defending something you hold dear or self defense. The 8th Amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail, excessive fines or cruel and unusual punishment which are the most quoted reasons to abolish the death penalty with the 14th amendment s due process clause. It might be agreeable that murder can be justified if something threatens your survival you will do what it takes to survive, especially in these days of mass shootings and mass murderers in public places. Catching someone in the act of physical or sexual abuse of another is also a point of contention when discussing the justification of murder. If a child is a victim of abuse and kills their abuser, how do we adjudicate that child? After

  • 54. Death Of Death And Death Throughout my entire life I have never really given much thought to the subject of death. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality (Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death. When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.

They are so small that the sizes of bacteria are measured in micrometers (10,000 micrometers = 1 centimeter). By comparison, the head of a pin is about 1000 micrometers wide. The combination of these two characteristics gives the final rating of the bacteria s virulence (ability to cause disease). A species does not necessarily need to have both high invasiveness and high toxigenicity to be rated highly virulent. One or the other can be high enough to cause the bacterium to be very virulent. For example, the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae (causes pnuemonia) does not produce a toxin, but it is so highly invasive that it causes the lungs to fill up with fluid from the immune response. In contrast, the bacteria Clostridium tetani (causes tetanus) is not very invasive, but it produces a potent toxin that causes damage at a very small concentration. How does the body fight off a bacterial infection? Again, the body mounts an immune response to the foreign invader, producing antibodies for immediate help and future protection. Since this process takes about a week, antibiotics are usually employed in the meantime. Antibiotic drugs are usually only successful in treating bacterial infections, not viral, or fungal infections. Professionals are becoming concerned that the overuse of antibiotics when they are not needed may lead to the mutation of normal bacteria into antibiotic resistant bacteria. Bacteria are very resilient and have already
