The cross sectional study designs
My research is concerned about errors in Thai English translation and I want to know what are the
mistakes could be found in the translation. Therefore, I aim to ask the people who involved in my
population to do a test. Then I will analyze what are the mistakes in the translation from the test.
From the process I ve mentioned above, I believe that cross sectional design is the most appropriate
design of my research.
According to the number of contacts, I need only one time in order to contact the population of the
research because the objective I ve set doesn t need to find out about the difference or change
between before and after. Furthermore, my research doesn t need to do the comparison.

However, it also has a big disadvantage because it s a set of sentences, and these sentences will be

Exploring Existentialism

Trifles uses feminism to exemplify Sartre s position. Glaspell illustrates socially superior men who
order the women to remain downstairs while the men investigate, thereby highlighting the women s
inferior societal status; Glaspell further instills the female subjugation as the men use their own last
names to summon the housewives (i.e. Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Wright), rather than using the women s
individual first names. Therefore, Glaspell s women make the ... Show more content on

Eliot depicts Prufrock s personal reminiscence, Prufrock notes his decisions and revisions and
further revisions, which stand as the protagonist s fundamental remembrances as important choices
inscribing his tabula rosa and formulating his essence. Additionally, Eliot presents his meager man
choosing to avoid choice, which ironically reflects a profound choice; clearly, Prufrock chooses
indecision and, thereby, molds his psychologically painful and hesitant essence. However, a
dichotomy does exist. Perhaps, Eliot rejects Sartre s position you are the sole author of your
own existence since Eliot depicts vacuous, pseudo intellectual women who talk shallowly of
Michelangelo, rather than using the powerful freedom to choose and self define. However, this
perspective rings erroneous since the women, much like Camus Sisyphean understanding, own
and choose to live this vacuous life, thereby constructing their own fulfilling essence. If I could
talk to Sartre today, I would ask him the following: I m a sixteen year old orthodox Jew and
religion hounds my ability to choose. My parents, school Rabbis, pulpit Rabbi, synagogue
Cantor, and inflexible religious laws squeeze my future s trajectory into a narrow, straight path,
so how can I possibly sculpt my own essence? Iron blue and white (the Israeli flag) chains confine
my meager freedom to choose and deadbolt other views and paths. I suppose I can still make some
choices, even though my freedom to do so

Data Protection and Customer Privacy
The media, trade bodies and academia has created a large buzz around the Data Protection and
customers privacy in the recent years. The consequences of the issue raised are different legislation
policies, self regulation, and general confusion. In order to be discussed, this controversial topic
should be looked at from two different perspectives: customers one and direct marketers one. From
customers point of view, direct marketingis undoubtedly an invasion of their privacy. Consumers
feel intimidated by the direct marketingcampaigns that fire them with different types of unwanted
printed and online media daily. Further, many of them are being concerned about their personal
information being so easily available which makes them feel vulnerable. On the other side are direct
marketers who put a lot of effort in their attempts to engage the audience and build/maintain
relationships with them. Moreover, practitioners believe that they are targeting the best prospects
and best customers (rather than uninterested people) who are willing to buy the products offered
and are happy to receive up to date information about them. Thus, it has been assumed that
marketers see themselves as assistants who help people in choosing the best deals available
whereas customers feel like victims rather than catered for.
Customers concerns about their privacy could be simply splitted up into two parts: unwanted direct
marketing approaches and privacy issues. Junk mail , Spam emails,

Preliminary study on strength and durability properties of pH adjusted fluorogypsum cement fly
ash blends
A preliminary investigation of strength and durability properties of a low cost concrete like
system made of pH adjusted fluorogypsum (FG), class C fly ash (FA), and type II Portland cement
(PC). A series of compressive strengthtests and volumetric expansion measurements were
conducted on specimens after 28 days of curing. The experimental results were used to develop
response surface models (RSMs). These RSMs can be used to predict accurately compressive
strength and volumetric expansion as functions of the relative content, in dry weight, of different
components. The RSMs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The long term compressive strength of the FG based blend was investigated under prolonged
immersion in seawater, demonstrating that the material strength does not degrade below its 28 day
value after one year of immersion and exposure to field environmental actions. The compressive
strength under field conditions was compared to the material kept under laboratory conditions. This
comparison indicated a moderate reduction (27%) in compressive strength after one year. A visual
examination of the immersed specimens showed that aquatic organisms covered most of the FG
based samples surface, which indicated that these organisms are attracted to the proposed material.
A small artificial reef structure made of a FG based blend was built and placed underwater at a site
in Grand Isle, LA and investigated for stability and settlement for nine months. Monitoring of the
structure over the immersion period indicated that settlement due to the structure was stable. A
preliminary cost analysis was performed to compare the cost of artificial reefs constructed with the
FG based blend, crushed limestone, or crushed recycled concrete. The results of this study suggest
that the proposed FG based blend is a promising environment friendly material for artificial reef
construction, which can provide significant economic advantages when compared to other
materials commonly used in coastal development projects.

Augustus- Absolute Power By Any Means Necessary
With the death of Julius Caesar, Augustus became the leader of Julius great conquests, resources,
and soldiers. Immense power was his to seize. However, the power came at a cost. At the forefront
of his attention, Julius killers were still loose, sewing seeds of violent oppression to this authority.
Combined with this constant fear of revolt, the propaganda of Marc Antony and others further
challenged his right to rule. Therefore, for Augustusto command the absolute power bestowed upon
him, he must eliminate any threats by any means necessary. This took the form of massacre. The
justification for Augusts campaign against any threat came from propaganda spread against him
and its potential to undermine his rule. One of the primary methods of belittlement came in the
form of slander against his family name. No individual utilized this tactic more cunningly than
Marc Antony. The first rumors targeted the social position of his ancestors. Antony claimed
Augustus paternal great grandfather was only a freeman and his grandfather a money changer. On
the maternal side, Antony publically spread Augusts maternal great grandfather was a baker from
Africa. Even though Suetonius dismisses the Antony s rumor of money changing, many Romans
followed Antony s strategy of humiliation (including Cassius Parmensis). By undermining his
family ties, Antony could unsettle the legitimacy behind his rule. Since social position determined
the cursus honorum, a successful tarnish could

The Macondo Blowout
The Macondo Blowout occurred on April 20, 2010 and caused over four million barrels of crude
oil, hydrocarbons, to spill into the Gulf of Mexico (Peterson et al.). This event is also known as
the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Subsequently, hydrocarbon plumes formed from the oil spill and
with the natural water plumes that feed many corals, causing concern for coral communities from
many researchers, so investigations were made to inquire about the health of coral communities
nearby (Fisher et al. 796). Results showed that over half of coral communities within twenty
kilometers of the explosion site displayed signs of harm (Fisher et al. 297). The effects of
Deepwater Horizon oil spill were displayed in the coral population near the Macondo

The Secret Life Of Garnet Belonging Quotes
For most of us, family has always been a safe space and a group of people you can always be
yourself around and still maintain a sense of belonging no matter how different you might be. Well
imagine being ripped apart from your family at a young and tender age and sent to live with
complete strangers. What consequences would it have on the childs identity? Will the child feel the
same sense of belonging? This novel explores some of the issues that surrounds kids in foster care
as it talks about the life of Garnet Raven, a Native child who was taken from his familywhen he
was two by child services and lived with foster care families. This shows the importance of
belonging as in the novel Garnet took on many identities to fit in and even tries... Show more

his family and was introduced to his brother and sister they tell him what happened to his father
and how he died and also tell him stories about their childhood before Garnet disappeared which
really helps Garnet reconnect with them and feel the sense of belonging and being part of a

Fecal Microbiota Transplant Research Paper
Fecal Microbiota Transplants for the Treatment
Of Clostridium Difficile
Emily Ramirez
Aurora University
Abstract
Fecal transplants have been around for many years; however up until recently it had not been
widely used or accepted as a feasible course of treatment for gastrointestinal complications. Since
approval by the U.S Food and Drug administration in 2013, the method is being thoroughly
researched and tested to entice its use for Clostridium difficile infections. Clostridium difficile is
extremely prevalent in the community and more over in healthcare facilities. The current
treatments that are being used are quiet successful at treating Clostridium difficile, but the
incidence of reoccurrence is fairly high. Fecal microbiota transplants have shown to have a very
high success rate, and a very low reoccurrence rate. There are several ways of performing the
treatment as well as different options for finding donors of the feces, all of which have similar and
unwavering success rates. Fecal microbiota ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Methods include nasogastric tube, nasoduodenal tube, colonoscopy, oral fecal capsules, and self

approach, they include the fact that you can instill the stool along the length of the entire colon as
well as visualize the colon for any abnormalities (Boyle et al., 2015). Despite the great advantage
of using the colonoscopy method, it is associated with risk for complications such at perforation,
infection, bleeding, pain, and furthermore the additional cost of anesthesia (Boyle et al., 2015). No

100% of their patients had a resolution of symptoms after treatment (2016). Similar results were

Iago In Othello s Jealousy
Iago, in Shakespeare s Othello , is a deceiving character since he advises lies keeping in mind the
end goal to get what he needs. He collaborates with individuals just to control them, yet above all he
never uncovers his actual emotions or intentions. Iago may state things that propose what his
thought process is, however he soon contradicts himself with another recommendation making it to
a great degree hard to understand him. Even though Iagos actual motives aren t revealed, some can
say the motives could be jealousy, seeing people suffer, or power. Iago s jealousy towards Othello
quickly transforms into a jealousy toward Cassio too because Othello selected Cassio as lieutenant
rather than Iago. Iago trusts that he ought to be lieutenant since he has battled close by in fights
and because he has genuine war involvement, while Cassio took in the majority of his strategies
from books. Thus, he is spiteful because he didn t land the position, however he is annoyed on the
grounds that he believes that Othello made Cassio his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iago is extremely scheming and sharp and he can utilize this to control anyone. It is
unmistakably seen that Iago flourishes for control, since he cherishes controlling people, so
they do precisely what he says. He does this to Roderigo daily, like when Iago advises Roderigo
to give him the majority of his cash and when he persuades Roderigo to murder Cassio. He even
controls Othello to the point that Othello suspects of Desdemona and chooses to murder her.
Iago s hunger for control is observed when Cassio is designated to be Othello s lieutenant since
this was, as far as anyone knows, the reason for his retaliation. He truly needed to be lieutenant
since it is a high position and with it comes a considerable measure of power and Iago
demonstrates that he would effectively get that kind of power. In this manner, one of Iago s thought
processes could be that he has an enormous hunger for

Black Soldier Fly Research Paper
The black solider fly is indigenous to the southern United States and is now distributed to warm
temperate regions (Diener et al., 2009). Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) have been used in
backyard and farm composting systems for decades, mainly to treat animal manures (Tomberlin,
2001; Oliver, 2008). However, due to several unique characteristics, BSFL have been investigated
in a variety of beneficial applications. The life cycle of the BSFL is divided into four phases with
an average lifespan of 36 days depending on the environmental conditions (i.e. temperature,
moisture, and air supply) (Fig.1). (Tomberlin et al., 2002). Mature flies have no functioning mouth
parts and are not associated with transmission of diseases or considered pests... Show more content

Like energy crops, BSFL have not been previously digested and thus may offer higher bio
methane potential than manures or biowastes. However, unlike energy crops, BSFL would not
compete with food crops in agricultural land usage, and pose the associated environmental
issues such as soil erosion and pesticide leakage to surface and ground water (EEA, 2006).
Furthermore, BSFL have a high per acre productivity, fast growth rate, and can be grown on non
arable land areas similar to algae. However, harvesting and valorization of algae biomass require
significant water use and high capital and operation costs, which make it economically
challenging (Mussgnug et al., 2010). Therefore, the objective of the current research is to
investigate the potential of BSFL as a feedstock for anaerobic digestion, including integration of
anaerobic digestion into different BSFL biorefinery options. Specifically, we investigated the
following pathways: (1) Anaerobic digestion of food waste (2) Anaerobic digestion of BSFL fed on
food waste along with residual food waste; (3) BSFL fed on food waste used to produce biodiesel
and digestion of the residual lipid extracted BSFL combined with residual food waste. Data are
also reported on the bio methane of BSF cuticle and adult black soldier flies, and characterization

The Effects Of Oppression In The Souls Of Black Masks
The dynamic of oppressor and oppressed has been an issue for centuries, and a topic that has
been written about for just as long. Many different authors offer insights into the physical and
psychological damages this dynamic can have on both parties. Solutions are often offered in
regards to what would be the most effective way to combat or cope against this type of social
hierarchy. However, due to the passing of history and the continuation these degrading
dynamics, many of these solutions can be deemed as too hopeful, too passive, or simply
unachievable. Throughout The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B DuBois, Black Skin, White
Masks by Frantz Fanon, and For Two Thousand Years by Mihail Sebastian the issues and
dynamics of oppression are addressed, and different coping methods and solutions are critiqued
or praised, however all three novels mistakenly offer solutions that reject the idea of
accountability on the oppressor s behalf. The understanding of this mistake can be seen in some
of the authors later ideology shift towards a more radical state of mind in regards to the issue. In
The Souls of Black Folk, one of the first consequences of oppression that DuBois sees as having
lasting psychological effects on the black man/woman is the concept of the veil . This veil is a
shadow that casts over the black man s life that forces him to view himself from the degrading
perspective of white society, It is a peculiar sensation, this double consciousness, this sense of

Socio technical systems theory: an intervention strategy for organizational development
Steven H. Appelbaum Professor of Management, Faculty of Commerce Administration, Concordia

Integrating organizational development (OD) and technological intervention into a total system is
one of the more difficult tasks for an executive or consultant to execute. Organizations are
profoundly affected by technological advancements and require a flexible customized change
model to fit the social network of the specific organization into which technology is being

226]. After analysing the specific situation in any given organization, the organizational
development consultant can determine that some or all elements of a traditional model may be
useful for the organization in question [1, p. 41]. STS theory is probably the most extensive
body of conceptual and empirical work underlying employee involvement and work design
applications today Originally devel. oped at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in
London, this approach to designing work has spread to most industrialized nations in a relatively
short period of time. In Europe and particularly Scandinavia, STS theory is almost synonymous
with work design and employee involvement. In Canada and the USA, STS theory has become
the major underpinning of efforts involving work design. Cincinnati Milacron, Amoco, USAA,
Stanley Works, General Electric, and Caterpillar are among many organizations using STS theory
to design work[3, p. 352]. Over 30 years ago, the early contributions to socio technical theory by
Emery and Trist or by Chern s included approaches to design of jobs and work systems. More
recently, there seems to be frequent reference to STS, given the inevitable infiltration of
technology into organizations in all industries. Often though, STS approaches appear to be
fragmentary and only loosely reminiscent of the original theory The techniques used in socio.

Multiple Intelligences Self Assessment Quiz
I choose to take the Multiple Intelligences Self Assessment quiz. When I taught preschool and as
the trainer for my department I have learned that there are many different methods in which
people learn. I have learned to adapt how I teach and train based on what is required by the
learner. Due to this I was curious to determine the variety of learningmethods that work best for
me. I discovered that I have a broad range of ways in which I learn best. I have always excelled at
learning and find that I learn fairly quickly, so this is not surprising to me. What did surprise me
was that my highest percentage was naturalistic. One question that I often ask is, Why? I enjoy
having a knowledge of how things work and the ability to understand a variety of subjects, but
did not realize how highly it impacted my learning. The few categories where I scored low were
music and body kinesthetic. Neither of these surprise me much. When I work and am trying to
concentrate I find that music and movement is very distracting. I have learned to eliminate them
when focus and concentration is crucial. The rest of the categories I scored from 49% to 63%. I
feel this explains my ability to learn a broad spectrum of things quickly no matter what the method
of learning is. The two areas where I scored the highest were interpersonal and intrapersonal. This
explains my drive for success, ability to gain insight into a variety of situations and people, my

Paul Dunbar Sympathy Essay
Paul Dunbar, an African American poet who was famous during the Harlem Renaissance, wrote
a poem titled, Sympathy in 1899. The poem expressed his relations to a caged bird and how he
understands how the caged bird feels. Dunbar s use of imagery and repetition helps to clearly
depict the struggle to obtain freedom and the feeling of imprisonment. Dunbar s usage of
imagery is greatly expressed throughout the poem, with the uses of your senses. When the river
flows like a stream of glass; When the first bird sings and the first bud opes... , Dunbar uses the
senses of sight and hearing to help the reader picture the scenery to better understand that the
bird is trapped in a cage witnessing the beautiful outside of flowers blossoming and can t be a
part of it. In addition, Dunbar later elaborates the birds struggle to be on the inside of the cage
by stating I know why the caged bird beats his wing Till its blood is red on the cruel bars And a

oppressed by society at some point in his life. However, he may even understand the hope the
bird feels in regards to overcoming the struggle. At the end of the poem, Dunbar concludes with,

Preparing after the Last Economic Recession
Economists as many business people are hoping for the best in 2014 to 2016. After the worst
recession of 2008 to 2009, many companies have learned the best lessons because during that time
they fought not to be out of business, some merged , others companies barely survived. Most
companies are left with recessionscars and the fear that it can happen again. From that worse
recession companies have learned to be prepared. As new laws and regulations are passed by the
congress, companies, (Geicoincluded ) analyse the impact those policies would have in the
company in case of a new recession.
For instance, as the new healthcare law was passed some companies are looking in diminishing
the hours of work from their employees in order to make enough profits. In can of new recession
period the companies would not have to worry of making extra expenses in paying for health
care for the employees. A different approach is made by other companies who are looking into
hiring employees with multiple work experience which can be used in the company instead of
hiring a lot of people specialized in a single technical area. For those companies willing to keep
their employees, they are offering training to employees so that they could have a small number of
employees and well qualified. Other companies are relaying into getting temporary employees, like
consultants, for a number of projects instead of hiring a permanent workers.
Those companies reactions lead to the thought of

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Analysis
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, known as OCD, is considered a constant fear or worrying
aspect (obsessions) that includes the frequent repetition of behaviors to reduce anxiety
(compulsions). Some of the common symptoms include excessive washing or cleaning, repeated
actions such as opening and closing the door or even the light switch a number of times before
entering or leaving a room. Intelligence is not an issue as more people with OCD tend to
possess an above average IQ. Obsessive compulsive disorder affects children and adolescents, as
well as adults (one third to one half of adults with OCD report a childhood onset of the disorder).

Biology of a Squid
Squids are among the most varied and unique of all invertebrates. They are mollusks of the Class
Cephalopod, along with the nautilus, cuttlefish, and octopus. Squids are highly evolved, and have
developed a number of traits uncommon to most other mollusks. Fossil records of cephalopods
have dated back the Cambrian Period (about 600 million years ago). Structurally, squids have only
small variations of a basic theme common to all cephalopods. They are spherical or cigar shaped
with two fins used to stabilize movement when swimming. Ten arms are easily distinguished
emerging from near the mouth Eight of these arms each have four rows of suction cups encircled

from their enemies. When confronted with a dangerous animal away from hiding places, however,
squids seem to have a disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If
attacked, they have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a
number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their skin, in effect
camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep brown color, to a white, or
almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to slightly change the texture of their
skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean
dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink
cloud. The ink cloud has a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud
initially causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility and
allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria in their ink so
that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals.

Modern Cinem Mise En Scene
Mostly spoken about in the world of cinema, mise en scГ©ne also describes aspects in theatre. In
the instance of stage performance, mise en scГ©ne includes all that is present on stage i.e.
props, costumes, lighting, use of space. In Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play by Anne Washburn
paying close attention to what is present on stage is essential to understanding situation. In The
First Act, the script directs there to be four people around a fire, on a mixed arrangement of
indoor chairs, sports or lawn chairs and a fancy new couch, this set allows the audience to view
the scene as something of a fuse of scavenged materials, making it known that, in this point in
civilization, it is essential to acquire anything that is possible. There is no room for color schemes
or meticulously considered arrangements, only practicality. The Second Act, described as seven
years later, calls for a cozy living room, letting the audience know that progress has been made and
it is appropriate to begin to consider aesthetic and occasional luxury. With this consideration of mise
en scГ©ne comes a better understanding of how and why a scene is presented the way it is.

David Cameron s First Speech as Prime Minister
This political speech made by United Kingdom s new prime minister David Cameron in May
2010 could be considered the beginning of a new era in the politics of the country because, for
the first time after World War II, Britain would have a coalition government. David Cameron
(born in London in 1966) was elected leader of the Conservative Party in December 2005. He has
modernised his Party, the Conservatives, by introducing new ideas such as the environmental
defence, gay rights and abortion. He has a fresh, young and moderate image. The conservative
leader gave this speech outside No 10 Downing Street right after being appointed Prime Minister.

Students have reacted by protesting violently in front of the Conservative headquarters. They
complain specially about the raise in the tuition fees, that will be multiplied by three. The
spending review is also facing critics of the Institute of Fiscal Studies: the think thank believes
that the poor will be the most affected by the measures. During the campaign Labour, Liberal and
Conservatives agreed on the need to cut spending, but the proposal of Cameron was the hardest.
At the same time, the Tories thought the reforms had to start immediately, while the Labour
preferred to wait a year until the economic recovery was consolidated. Indeed, some fear that the
spending review will not help UK to get out of the crisis, and they claim that the present
difficulties are only an excuse to reduce the power of the state (an important principle in the
Conservatives ideology). On the other side, Conservatives think that the private sector will be able
to support the economy and will be reinforced, in spite of the cutback in spending. It is beyond
doubt that the financial crisis has affected deeply all Europe, and that something had to be done to
reduce the number of British citizens living on the governments subsidies. But it is not that clear
that such strong measures had to be taken. UK s economic situation is not as bad as other countries

Nokia and Microsoft Partnership Analysis
Introduction:
Microsoft is the most established software giant and Nokia is the company that is the icon for
electronic and communication equipments. Microsoft had a partnership with the computer
manufacturer IBM that made the software of Microsoft from DOS to modern Windows 8 famous
and most used. The same underlying principle of symbiosis has been used inn this alliance. There
are many reasons why Microsoft had to enter the cell phone industry. Arch Rival Apple came out
with the iPhone and revolutionized the mobile world. Though the gadget was not a direct
competitor, Microsoft was out of a huge potential market, namely the mobile segment.
More and more applications that were used in the PC and laptop began to be used with the mobile.
It was with the availability of internet with the mobile that made companies like Nokia look for
platforms to deliver the service including surfing and connecting to social media that prompted
developers to begin developing programs for this segment. It was also this development that made
Microsoft consider going into the mobile sector since the company had already established itself in
the tablet segment.
What were the forces leading to the partnership?
The fact that during the beginning of this century many developments occurred both with the
internet and with telephony must be considered. The major developments were the availability of

Causes Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution was a radical social and political upheaval in France that took place from
1789 until 1799. It was partially carried forward by Napoleon Bonaparte when he later became the
Emperor of France. This period in history has major historical forces that had great influence on not
only the lives during that period, but also the modern world. Issues about citizenship, sovereignty,
and slavery were raised by the French Revolution. These debates soon enhanced modern political
Ideologies. Ideologies of liberalism, conservatism, and nationalism were beginning to appear and
influence all aspects of European life after the French Revolution.
The French Revolution was a historical period of time when the people of France overthrew the
monarchy and took control of the government. The uprising of political, social, and economic
conflicts were the primary causes of the French Revolution. This lead to the bringing of new ideas
and politics to Europe and many other countries. Early 19th century politics were known as
ideologies. These ideologies competed with other views of how the world should be. They were
based on human reason and the French Revolution was full of enlightened people with rational
thoughts. Liberalism, conservatism, and nationalism became sources of authority and importance,
still continuing to affect society today.
Liberalism was a product of enlightenment thinking, and held that human progress was inevitable.

Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra
Not knowing what to expect when I took my seat at the Atlanta Symphony Hall, I was anxious. I

turned the knob on the radio while driving. No matter how hard I wished for the knob to stop
turning, it never did. The only real experience I had with classical musicwas during Music class at
school and the one teacher who played records in her room during quiet times. But this day was
something special. My sister and I were asked to join a small group of teens to attend a concert of
the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra

year and I was thrilled to be attending.
We got to our seats early so we could be sure we were in a good location. The instrumentalists
warming up with different sounds and scales all playing at the same time was like listening to the
sounds of nature. Everyone had their own different sound. Everyone was playing something
different. While I was amazed at what I heard, it wasn t until the conductor raised his baton and the

Strengths
Lego s key strengths may be seen as coming from both its brand recognition and its ability to use
innovative technology without moving away from the company s core values. Whilst there are
many other competitors in the toy or children s entertainment market Lego remains the brand of
choice in the field of construction toys despite the fall of other long term historical brand such as
Meccano (V A 2010) and the rise of alternative substitute products such as video games (BBC News
2004). As the case study indicates despite the traditional nature of the Lego offering the company
has a strong association with contemporary IT, design and manufacturing systems which help to
make the product both more durable as well as helping to reduce manufacturing costs thus making
the field of technology as key strength for the business.
Weaknesses
Lego s key weakness in the run up to 2004 may be seen as two fold. Firstly the company has
failed in a key area of the understanding of marketing in regard to understanding the needs of their
customers which may be seen as the focal point of the marketing concept (Brassington and Pettitt
2007). This can be clearly seen in the role out of the

At WPI in order to buy anything for the department they have to use an out dated purchasing

involve many tedious steps. For example, in the Chemical Engineering Department where
Felicia currently works, a professor or student will submit an electronic Purchase Order sheet
which indicates quantities, prices, descriptions and any other pertinent information such as a

Sunshine Skyway Bridge Essay
A bridge is a load bearing structure spanning a passage over a gap or barrier, such as a river or
roadway. Some examples of bridge types are; suspension bridge (George Washington Bridge
connecting New Jersey with New York City), truss arch bridge (Hurricane Deck Bridge in
Hurricane Deck, Missouri), and a cable stayed bridge(The modern Sunshine Skyway Bridge in
Saint Petersburg). Another example is a cantilever bridge (the former Sunshine Skyway Bridge).
Rarely do these structures ever have catastrophic malfunctions, however, it does happen. The
citizens of Saint Petersburg, Florida who have lived here since 1980 remember the collapse of the
old Sunshine Skyway Bridge. On May 9, 1980, a large ship hit the Skyway in the fog and it

If a bridge isn t built right, with the correct physics and design, it is not going to be a stable, safe
passage. The pillars on the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge weren t deep enough in the ground,
and they were not close enough together. As mentioned previously, this caused cracks in the
bridge. The cracks were repaired, and the pillars were installed deeper and actually strengthened
the bridge. However, these corrections proved to be inadequate when the Skyway was struck by
the freight ship. When looking at old pictures of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, it is very evident
that the gaps between the pillars were too wide. When the ship collided with the bridge, the
stress load was too much on the remaining pillars, and the bridge instantly collapsed, with a large
piece of the roadway actually left sitting on the very ship that had just hit it. The way the pillars
were installed on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, caused pressure that placed so much torque, or
twist, on the concrete pillars. Once the pillars on the bridge started cracking, they bent the I beam
so much that when the tanker hit the beam the bridge collapsed. Fearing for their own safety, due
to questions about the stability of the remaining bridge, rescuers were unable to search for
survivors underneath the area of the destroyed bridge. 36 people were killed in this tragic

consumers. It revolves around pharmaceutical companies, government regulators, health

Back in 2009, a study out of Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital found that
84 percent of doctors have ties to drug companies, a ten percent drop from five years earlier. But
roughly two thirds of doctors still accept drug samples, while 70 percent accept food and beverage
incentives from drug companies. And fourteen percent continue to accept cash payments for
services. While some of these unethical practices were tapered off, not all were uprooted. Some
doctors did not disclose the amount of gifts and cash which they have accepted from the drug
companies. They believe that their decisions on the prescription of drugs would not be influenced
by the gifts which they have accepted.
In my opinion, the supporters, primarily the health professionals and representatives of the
pharmaceutical giants, have disregarded the genuine health implications and the high drug costs
incurred to the general public in concern. They might try fending off such moral challenges by
claiming that substantial amount of advertising is necessary to boost the sales of their products.
Securing more profits would also mean more money can be invested on research for better drugs.
However, it is evident that the excessive promotional efforts of drugs have blinded the
pharmaceutical industry, in the pursuit of more profits and sales. Their main concern of profit
maximization still

How the Media Influences the Public Perception of Science...
Sometimes careless science publishing can weaken the public s confidence in science and the
government. The Media is enormously powerful and leading and will influence people s opinions
on everything. There are plenty of stories in the media that will change the public s perception of
science or even make them see a new perception. Sometimes these stories are just written to scare
the public into believing a certain thing just so they can sell their stories.

The tabloid newspaper is the Sun and the broadsheet newspaper is the Times.
Firstly I will analyse the story written by the Sun, this tabloid covered the same story as the

Deadly strain confirmed , I can clearly see from the start that they are trying to create a scare in
the public and capture the reader s attention very fast, this is because they don t tell you what
deadly strain they are talking about, if I were to see this in a newspaper lying around I would

they trying to inform the reader or just trying to sell their story? You only learn what the deadly

On the 3rd paragraph the Sun states the following the swan had the strain which can be fatal to
humans. Instead of just using the swan had the H5N1 strain the Sun chooses to create more of an
impact by using the word fatal and implying it to humans. This makes the beginning of the article
to cause fear, evoke an element of alarm and perhaps imply that the readers should be fearful for

protection laws throughout the world. In addition to consumer protection acts throughout the world,
one can easily find the rapidly rising rate of lawmaking for consumers in the developing countries
like Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines,Mongolia, Mauritius , China, Indonesia,Taiwan, Nepal,
Malaysia and other such countries. India is not an exception to this rule. The Consumer Protection

What Is The Best Western Logo Analysis
Best Western a chain of hotels that was established in 1946 has recently upgraded logos. They
upgrade from a standard two dimensional logo to a spiffy three dimensional logo. The change
surprised most although the new logo isn t horrible according to writers. The logo is very nice
and neat as well as, very well thought through. Best Westerns logo change is a perfect example
of how a company s logo, the image of the company, can affect the company. Best Westerns new
logo has a vibrant color scheme. The two colors used in the logo are white and blue. The scheme
was said to pull the company together by Best Westerns press release. The color scheme is a good
combination because the white space allows the blue to stand out. These colors really

Australian Environmental Law
As an Australian I have had the privilege of indulging in the bountiful land that I am lucky to call
my home. A land that is home to millions and supplies millions more. The central hub of these huge
happenings is the Murray Darling Basin the largest water storage and water system in Australia,
spanning 1/7 of Australias total land mass, containing over 40% of all Australian farms and the
source of water for millions. Paramount to the enterprise, the general wellbeing and the

Compare And Contrast The Hero Journey In The Count Of...
Hero Journey Comparison Contrast Essay A hero is often thought as someone who saves lives
and does admirable acts. This is not always the case as we see in The Count of Monte Cristo,
where Edmond Dantes is wrongly accused of a crime and sent to imprisonment for life. He is
stripped of his freedom and all he owns and rises to the top with only a goal in mind that he
keeps dear to his heart. In The Alchemist, Santiago seeks to find treasure and on his journey, he
finds his true love. This is very similar to The Odyssey when Odysseus is on the desperate search
for treasure and finds that what he really wants is his wife and his home life. As the reader travels
with these heroes through their personal journeys, the reader can start to notice... Show more content

Essay on police mountain bikes
History of Police Bike Patrol:
Over one hundred years ago, police departments routinely patrolled cities and towns by bicycle.
The bike was tremendously popular only until the advent of the automobile. The bicycle then
disappeared from policing. It wasn t until the late 1980 s that the bicycle made a comeback. In
1988, Sergeant Paul Grady of the Seattle Police Department convinced his superiors that mountain
bikes could be a viable patrol vehicle in the congested downtown area, waterfront parks, and market
districts. Seattle believed that the bicycle could prove to be an invaluable tool. They were faced
with problems such as vehicle congestion, vagrants, gang activity, purse snatchings, and auto
burglaries. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bicyclists)
amp;#61623; They should be committed to a teamwork philosophy.
amp;#61623; Have the ability to work independently and handle complex situations with little

Community Policing:
Problem Oriented Patrols are accomplished by concerted and consistent enforcement in four steps.
1. Identification of problems and problem areas.
2. Developing alternatives to solve the problem.
3. Initiating corrective action.
4. Evaluating operational success.
Problem Identification:
Initially the objective is to identify problem areas, and groups. Develop intelligence on when,
where, and how the problem is occurring. Reviewing calls for service, incident reports, interviewing
and utilizing surveillance helps determine violation patterns.
Developing Solutions:
Based on the information gathered in the first phase, a plan is developed using creative methods,
and concentrated efforts to target the causes of the problem. An effective way of developing
solutions is to hold a brainstorming session with field personnel. Develop a list of options, then
evaluate each option for success potential. An action plan should be developed from this idea,
utilizing patrol methods, which will be most efficient.
Taking Action:
The third phase is

Father And Father In Alice Munro s Boys And Girls
Father
For a child, a father means the world to them. And with changing social norms, fathers are much
closer to their children than ever before. The old stereotype of a cold emotionless labourer has
been replaced by the soft caring figure who takes an interest in his kids lives. Alice Munro, Wendy
Wasserstein, and Theodore Roethke all explore this new relationship through various mediums.
Boys and Girls (Munro) is a short story about a young girl strongly influenced by her father trying
to find her place in the world. Tender Offer (Wasserstein) is a play detailing the difficulties of
communication between a father and daughter in modern times. Lastly, My Papa s Waltz (Roethke)
is a light hearted poem illustrating a joyful night shared by a father and his child. Among all three
works, the children can be seen looking up to their fathers hoping in turn to be recognized by them.
This common theme can be traced among the different works of art thanks to plot, conflict and
imagery.
In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls , the author employs both plot and conflict to bring forth the
strong yet one sided relationship. Throughout the short story, the main character, Margaret, avoids
at all costs the indoor chores her mother is tasked with, preferring to work on the farm with her
father, work done out of doors, and in my father s service, was ritualistically important. (Munro p.4)
The conflict between her and her mother only helped to push her closer to the other parent,

Christianity and Church
A sacrament can be defined as a visible sign of an invisible grace or an outward sign of an inward
grace . Through the visible there is invisible. For example: The Eucharist Bread and Wine are
visible and the Life of Christ is invisible. It is a sign of God s grace, a visible sign, something we
are able to see. Therefore the church stands as a visible sign; the invisible grace is God s
presence. Hence sacraments make God s presence more real and understandable for us as
believers. The church is needed to build up unity among all of us, to bring us together as a
community to share in God s life just as God wants.
The church is a sign and instrument of unity with God. God s love for us reconciles us to God and
to each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sacrificed his life for us so that we could live happy lives and he will be there to lead us on our
lives and help us live a good life just as he did. We are called to be holy and be an intimate friend of
Christ .
The church communicates the salvation of Jesus Christ.
The church is not only a sacrament of Christ, but a sacrament of man and of the world. The
church as a sacrament reveals union of men with God or each other. The Church points back to
Christ and what he has done for us and to the future to the Kingdom, what he will do for us.
Salvation comes from the Messiah. We are all part of a local church in which are a community.
Together as we join in unity we all form the universal Church. By worshiping God in the Church
we find salvation. By worshiping the church, the church worships on our behalf. The church
makes sacrifices for us. So the church s sacrifice in communion with Christ is vicarious by nature
as the sacrament of Christ s sacrifice and so also on behalf of the world of mankind . We are all
called to unity not just the church. We cannot reach salvation until we embrace God s love. It is a
sign of communion to all humanity. At the end of time we will have the Kingdom of God. The
church has the task to get all humanity to the end. The church is the link between humanity and
Good.
The church makes God visible. The church is a communion that is needed to create unity among all
men.

History Of Independent Contractors And Employees
Introduction Independent contractors and employees are two significantly different types of
workers and this distinction is clearly important in the realm of business as it alters many policies.
As a result, the court is often tasked with the question of differentiating the two types of workers.
To help the judges with this question, the upper level courts have created multiple tests to help
determine an employee from an independent contractor ranging from the test developed in the
case of 1671122 Ontario Ltd. v. Sagaz Industries Canada Inc, Housen v. Nikolaisen, 2002 SCC 33
to Wolf v. The Queen, 2002 D.T.C. 6053. This is concerning to have these many tests as it creates
confusion, but in the case of Connor Homes v Canada, 2013 the court attempts to create a uniform
test. This paper will use the concept of F.I.L.A.R., fact, issue, law, application, ratio to examine the
Connor Homes case to show why this case s outcome substantially impacts business practices.
Facts Before describing the facts of the case, it is worth noting that all the facts have already went
through the court scrutiny as the facts are taken from the subscript of the Appeal court. What this
means is that the facts are deem to be legitimate as the lower level courts would have already
questioned the creditability of the facts, since the upper level courts do not concern itself with
questions of law.
Connor Homes is the appellant in this case and he is a license foster care operator. This means he

Pat Conroy s Memoir The Water Is Wide
Segregation in America has only just recently concluded. But during the writing of The Water is
Wide, the people of Yamacraw Island must infinitely live in their stagnant lifestyle of illiteracy, and
ignorance. The children from the island have received values and beliefs passed down from their
parents. In Pat Conroy s perspective, the government neglected Yamacraw Island and caused these
values and beliefs to remain in use. In the memoir The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy, the author
stresses the impact that segregation and national ignorance has on the people of a socially isolated
town on Yamacraw Island, South Carolina. Mrs. Brown, the first schoolteacher on the island, most
clearly demonstrates the theme of national ignorance. Mrs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Every so often, Mrs. Brown pokes her head in and attempts to steer Pat Conroy s teaching
methods back on course in her favor. Pat Conroy works for a revolutionary change in the
students, while Mrs. Brown s continues a heartless attitude towards the children. One day in class,
Mr. Conroy tries to collect the students prior knowledge. Pat Conroy peruses their psyche s by
asking questions, starting from moderately hard, then gradually decreasing to basic knowledge.
He eventually decreases the difficulty to one incredibly easy question to the normal American. For
example, Pat Conroy relates, What country do we live in, gang? Everybody tell me at once, I
exhorted. No one said a word. Several of the kids looked at one another and shrugged their
shoulders (Conroy). This quotation clearly demonstrates that the government almost completely
neglected the students of Yamacraw Island. The students cannot even comprehend the name of the
land that they stand on, which focuses on survival in the modern world. The title of the book, The
Water is Wide, stands as an appropriate choice because the small river exists as the only thing
separating Yamacraw Island from the rich, fulfilled life of the outside world. When someone
crosses the river, everything taught to him or her becomes nonexistent on this new planet called
Yamacraw Island. The people of the Island live a completely different lifestyle than

Defining Personal Responsibility Essay
Defining Personal Responsibility and Obligations to Oneself
Angelica McElhone
University of Phoenix
Abstract
Personal responsibility is the choices and obligations we make in life. Everyone is responsible for
their own actions no one else. We all must have good character, moral values and a healthy lifestyle
in order to accept personal responsibility. Once we use our good character and moral values to help
us know what is right and wrong, it is up to us to be responsible and make the right decisions.
Also promoting a healthy life style show you are responsible mentally, physically and emotionally.
All in all, once we accept the fact that we are the only ones who can change our lives by making
good choices, we have accepted personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we choose to be late instead of punctual, we are not accepting our personal responsibility that we
must be punctual so we suffer from the consequences.
Moral values are the values of good and evil, which help us make the right and wrong choices in
life. We develop these moral values throughout our life time and it is our personal responsibility
to use them when making choices or obligations. Having moral values is important in personal
responsibility because the moral values you live by will help you determine what s right and
what s wrong. Once we ve determined what s right or wrong we use those values to help make
sure we are doing the right thing which is the responsible way to do it.
Finally, having a healthy life style is the most important key to personal responsibility. Everyone
is responsible for how they live their lives but it is important to make sure you are mentally,
emotionally and physically stable in order to live a good life. We as people like to blame everyone
else for our problems but the only real person to blame are ourselves. We ourselves are
personally responsible for the way we live are lives no one else. If you don t live a healthy
lifestyle it is your responsibility to change that or accept the burdens that come with not living a
healthy life style.
When you accept responsibility, you admit you are the one responsible for the choices made in
your life. We, no other person or thing,

Carved Into A Woman
Carved into a Woman
A country often called the melting pot, the United States of America delivers promises of freedom
and prosperity; regardless of ethnicity, gender, or cultural group an individual belongs to. Not far
away from here, many people live a less fortunate lifestyle in underdeveloped countries like Kenya.
A life devoid of basic human rights that some Americans may take for granted, such as equality
between men and women.
The cultural practices, or gender roles, of the women and young girls in Kenya typically involve a
painful ritual, which may not appeal to the average American teenager. The elders of the
community refer to this ceremony as a young girl s rite of passage, or a transition into the
expected roles of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another interesting Kenyan tradition that follows the birth of a child does not allow the mother to
breastfeed her baby until the next day. Instead newborn babies consume a salt water solution. The
mother and child spend the first four days recovering in seclusion; not even the father can visit until
this time has passed (Birth Doc). Many other cultures encourage families to be present during
childbirth and expect to have visitors following the birth. Care of the elders in the population also
rests on the Kenyan woman s shoulders, while she is also expected to run her own household.
There are not places in Kenya to send one s parents away to in their old age, such as the many
nursing homes in American cities. Therefore, the community must come together and provide care
for the older population. Women are already performing most tasks to provide for their own family.
This practice begins when many mothers are still young girls, or students. Being the head of
household often takes priority over seeking an education, if the woman was even fortunate enough
to have had an opportunity to attend school.
Many communities don t have the luxury of fresh water nearby, which means someone must travel
to collect it. This lifestyle leaves a huge burden on the Kenyan women, as they take on all

Reflection Paper On Cheers
It was March 2017, and the tryout cheers had just been put on Moodle. I had already been
practicing my tumbling skills at Corner House for about five months, but I still wasn t confident
with my skills. We had cheer camp for the next week to go over the cheers and how the tryout
process was going to go. During the week I had gotten pretty good at the cheers but I lost my
runningtumbling from being so nervous. This made me so scared for tryouts and I thought for
sure I wasn t going to make the team, especially compared to other girls who had outstanding
tumbling skills. I knew that now I couldn t rely on my tumbling to get me on the team so I
focused on my jumps and cheers. It was the night before tryouts and I couldn t sleep because of my
nerves. Later that night at around 3:00 AM, I threw upfrom thinking about it so much. I stayed up
the rest of the night practicing my cheers as quietly as I could without waking my sister or my
parents up.
When it was finally time to go to the tryouts I was getting ready and now I was worried I was
going to be late even though I had plenty of time. While I was putting my hair up in a ponytail, I
wasn t able to get it up without hair sticking out on the sides. Once I realized I was just going to
have to deal with it, I started putting my bow in. I was rushing because I lost a lot of time with all
the times of trying to get my ponytail perfect. I was twisting my bow around for the third time to
get a tight fit and the rubber band

The cross sectional study designs My research is concerned about errors in Thai English translation and I want to know what are the mistakes could be found in the translation. Therefore, I aim to ask the people who involved in my population to do a test. Then I will analyze what are the mistakes in the translation from the test. From the process I ve mentioned above, I believe that cross sectional design is the most appropriate design of my research. • 3. Trifles Essay Moshe Fogelman Mr. Feinstein English 10 H 28 May 2017 Exploring Existentialism Sartre s belief you are the sole author of your own existence stands true. Glaspell s Trifles uses feminism and Eliot s ...Prufrock uses prisoners to respectively exemplify Sartre s stance. Glaspell s Trifles uses feminism to exemplify Sartre s position. Glaspell illustrates socially superior men who order the women to remain downstairs while the men investigate, thereby highlighting the women s inferior societal status; Glaspell further instills the female subjugation as the men use their own last names to summon the housewives (i.e. Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Wright), rather than using the women s individual first names. Therefore, Glaspell s women make the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eliot depicts Prufrock s personal reminiscence, Prufrock notes his decisions and revisions and further revisions, which stand as the protagonist s fundamental remembrances as important choices inscribing his tabula rosa and formulating his essence. Additionally, Eliot presents his meager man choosing to avoid choice, which ironically reflects a profound choice; clearly, Prufrock chooses indecision and, thereby, molds his psychologically painful and hesitant essence. However, a dichotomy does exist. Perhaps, Eliot rejects Sartre s position you are the sole author of your own existence since Eliot depicts vacuous, pseudo intellectual women who talk shallowly of Michelangelo, rather than using the powerful freedom to choose and self define. However, this perspective rings erroneous since the women, much like Camus Sisyphean understanding, own and choose to live this vacuous life, thereby constructing their own fulfilling essence. If I could talk to Sartre today, I would ask him the following: I m a sixteen year old orthodox Jew and religion hounds my ability to choose. My parents, school Rabbis, pulpit Rabbi, synagogue Cantor, and inflexible religious laws squeeze my future s trajectory into a narrow, straight path, so how can I possibly sculpt my own essence? Iron blue and white (the Israeli flag) chains confine my meager freedom to choose and deadbolt other views and paths. I suppose I can still make some choices, even though my freedom to do so ... • 4. Data Protection and Customer Privacy The media, trade bodies and academia has created a large buzz around the Data Protection and customers privacy in the recent years. The consequences of the issue raised are different legislation policies, self regulation, and general confusion. In order to be discussed, this controversial topic should be looked at from two different perspectives: customers one and direct marketers one. From customers point of view, direct marketingis undoubtedly an invasion of their privacy. Consumers feel intimidated by the direct marketingcampaigns that fire them with different types of unwanted printed and online media daily. Further, many of them are being concerned about their personal information being so easily available which makes them feel vulnerable. On the other side are direct marketers who put a lot of effort in their attempts to engage the audience and build/maintain relationships with them. Moreover, practitioners believe that they are targeting the best prospects and best customers (rather than uninterested people) who are willing to buy the products offered and are happy to receive up to date information about them. Thus, it has been assumed that marketers see themselves as assistants who help people in choosing the best deals available whereas customers feel like victims rather than catered for. Customers concerns about their privacy could be simply splitted up into two parts: unwanted direct marketing approaches and privacy issues. Junk mail , Spam emails, ... Essay On Industrial By-Product Materials Usage of industrial by product materials in construction Preliminary study on strength and durability properties of pH adjusted fluorogypsum cement fly ash blends A preliminary investigation of strength and durability properties of a low cost concrete like system made of pH adjusted fluorogypsum (FG), class C fly ash (FA), and type II Portland cement (PC). A series of compressive strengthtests and volumetric expansion measurements were conducted on specimens after 28 days of curing. The experimental results were used to develop response surface models (RSMs). These RSMs can be used to predict accurately compressive strength and volumetric expansion as functions of the relative content, in dry weight, of different components. The RSMs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The long term compressive strength of the FG based blend was investigated under prolonged immersion in seawater, demonstrating that the material strength does not degrade below its 28 day value after one year of immersion and exposure to field environmental actions. The compressive strength under field conditions was compared to the material kept under laboratory conditions. This comparison indicated a moderate reduction (27%) in compressive strength after one year. A visual examination of the immersed specimens showed that aquatic organisms covered most of the FG based samples surface, which indicated that these organisms are attracted to the proposed material. A small artificial reef structure made of a FG based blend was built and placed underwater at a site in Grand Isle, LA and investigated for stability and settlement for nine months. Monitoring of the structure over the immersion period indicated that settlement due to the structure was stable. A preliminary cost analysis was performed to compare the cost of artificial reefs constructed with the FG based blend, crushed limestone, or crushed recycled concrete. The results of this study suggest that the proposed FG based blend is a promising environment friendly material for artificial reef construction, which can provide significant economic advantages when compared to other materials commonly used in coastal development projects. • 6. Augustus- Absolute Power By Any Means Necessary With the death of Julius Caesar, Augustus became the leader of Julius great conquests, resources, and soldiers. Immense power was his to seize. However, the power came at a cost. At the forefront of his attention, Julius killers were still loose, sewing seeds of violent oppression to this authority. Combined with this constant fear of revolt, the propaganda of Marc Antony and others further challenged his right to rule. Therefore, for Augustusto command the absolute power bestowed upon him, he must eliminate any threats by any means necessary. This took the form of massacre. The justification for Augusts campaign against any threat came from propaganda spread against him and its potential to undermine his rule. One of the primary methods of belittlement came in the form of slander against his family name. No individual utilized this tactic more cunningly than Marc Antony. The first rumors targeted the social position of his ancestors. Antony claimed Augustus paternal great grandfather was only a freeman and his grandfather a money changer. On the maternal side, Antony publically spread Augusts maternal great grandfather was a baker from Africa. Even though Suetonius dismisses the Antony s rumor of money changing, many Romans followed Antony s strategy of humiliation (including Cassius Parmensis). By undermining his family ties, Antony could unsettle the legitimacy behind his rule. Since social position determined the cursus honorum, a successful tarnish could ... Subsequently, hydrocarbon plumes formed from the oil spill and with the natural water plumes that feed many corals, causing concern for coral communities from many researchers, so investigations were made to inquire about the health of coral communities nearby (Fisher et al. 796). Fecal Microbiota Transplant Research Paper Fecal Microbiota Transplants for the Treatment Of Clostridium Difficile Emily Ramirez Aurora University Abstract Fecal transplants have been around for many years; however up until recently it had not been widely used or accepted as a feasible course of treatment for gastrointestinal complications. Since approval by the U.S Food and Drug administration in 2013, the method is being thoroughly researched and tested to entice its use for Clostridium difficile infections. Clostridium difficile is extremely prevalent in the community and more over in healthcare facilities. The current treatments that are being used are quiet successful at treating Clostridium difficile, but the incidence of reoccurrence is fairly high. Fecal microbiota transplants have shown to have a very high success rate, and a very low reoccurrence rate. • 11. Iago In Othello s Jealousy Iago, in Shakespeare s Othello , is a deceiving character since he advises lies keeping in mind the end goal to get what he needs. He collaborates with individuals just to control them, yet above all he never uncovers his actual emotions or intentions. Iago may state things that propose what his thought process is, however he soon contradicts himself with another recommendation making it to a great degree hard to understand him. Even though Iagos actual motives aren t revealed, some can say the motives could be jealousy, seeing people suffer, or power. Iago s jealousy towards Othello quickly transforms into a jealousy toward Cassio too because Othello selected Cassio as lieutenant rather than Iago. Iago trusts that he ought to be lieutenant since he has battled close by in fights and because he has genuine war involvement, while Cassio took in the majority of his strategies from books. Thus, he is spiteful because he didn t land the position, however he is annoyed on the grounds that he believes that Othello made Cassio his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iago is extremely scheming and sharp and he can utilize this to control anyone. It is unmistakably seen that Iago flourishes for control, since he cherishes controlling people, so they do precisely what he says. He does this to Roderigo daily, like when Iago advises Roderigo to give him the majority of his cash and when he persuades Roderigo to murder Cassio. He even controls Othello to the point that Othello suspects of Desdemona and chooses to murder her. Iago s hunger for control is observed when Cassio is designated to be Othello s lieutenant since this was, as far as anyone knows, the reason for his retaliation. He truly needed to be lieutenant since it is a high position and with it comes a considerable measure of power and Iago demonstrates that he would effectively get that kind of power. • 12. Black Soldier Fly Research Paper The black solider fly is indigenous to the southern United States and is now distributed to warm temperate regions (Diener et al., 2009). Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) have been used in backyard and farm composting systems for decades, mainly to treat animal manures (Tomberlin, 2001; Oliver, 2008). However, due to several unique characteristics, BSFL have been investigated in a variety of beneficial applications. The life cycle of the BSFL is divided into four phases with an average lifespan of 36 days depending on the environmental conditions (i.e. temperature, moisture, and air supply) (Fig.1). (Tomberlin et al., 2002). Mature flies have no functioning mouth parts and are not associated with transmission of diseases or considered pests... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like energy crops, BSFL have not been previously digested and thus may offer higher bio methane potential than manures or biowastes. However, unlike energy crops, BSFL would not compete with food crops in agricultural land usage, and pose the associated environmental issues such as soil erosion and pesticide leakage to surface and ground water (EEA, 2006). Furthermore, BSFL have a high per acre productivity, fast growth rate, and can be grown on non arable land areas similar to algae. However, harvesting and valorization of algae biomass require significant water use and high capital and operation costs, which make it economically challenging (Mussgnug et al., 2010). Therefore, the objective of the current research is to investigate the potential of BSFL as a feedstock for anaerobic digestion, including integration of anaerobic digestion into different BSFL biorefinery options. Specifically, we investigated the following pathways: (1) Anaerobic digestion of food waste (2) Anaerobic digestion of BSFL fed on food waste along with residual food waste; (3) BSFL fed on food waste used to produce biodiesel and digestion of the residual lipid extracted BSFL combined with residual food waste. • 13. The Effects Of Oppression In The Souls Of Black Masks The dynamic of oppressor and oppressed has been an issue for centuries, and a topic that has been written about for just as long. Many different authors offer insights into the physical and psychological damages this dynamic can have on both parties. Solutions are often offered in regards to what would be the most effective way to combat or cope against this type of social hierarchy. However, due to the passing of history and the continuation these degrading dynamics, many of these solutions can be deemed as too hopeful, too passive, or simply unachievable. Throughout The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B DuBois, Black Skin, White Masks by Frantz Fanon, and For Two Thousand Years by Mihail Sebastian the issues and dynamics of oppression are addressed, and different coping methods and solutions are critiqued or praised, however all three novels mistakenly offer solutions that reject the idea of accountability on the oppressor s behalf. The understanding of this mistake can be seen in some of the authors later ideology shift towards a more radical state of mind in regards to the issue. In The Souls of Black Folk, one of the first consequences of oppression that DuBois sees as having lasting psychological effects on the black man/woman is the concept of the veil . This veil is a shadow that casts over the black man s life that forces him to view himself from the degrading perspective of white society, It is a peculiar sensation, this double consciousness, this sense of always ... After analysing the speciп¬Ѓc situation in any given organization, the organizational development consultant can determine that some or all elements of a traditional model may be useful for the organization in question [1, p. 41]. STS theory is probably the most extensive body of conceptual and empirical work underlying employee involvement and work design applications today Originally devel. oped at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in London, this approach to designing work has spread to most industrialized nations in a relatively short period of time. In Europe and particularly Scandinavia, STS theory is almost synonymous with work design and employee involvement. In Canada and the USA, STS theory has become the major underpinning of efforts involving work design. Cincinnati Milacron, Amoco, USAA, Stanley Works, General Electric, and Caterpillar are among many organizations using STS theory to design work[3, p. 352]. Over 30 years ago, the early contributions to socio technical theory by Emery and Trist or by Chern s included approaches to design of jobs and work systems. More recently, there seems to be frequent reference to STS, given the inevitable inп¬Ѓltration of technology into organizations in all industries. When I taught preschool and as the trainer for my department I have learned that there are many different methods in which people learn. I have learned to adapt how I teach and train based on what is required by the learner. Due to this I was curious to determine the variety of learningmethods that work best for me. I discovered that I have a broad range of ways in which I learn best. I have always excelled at learning and find that I learn fairly quickly, so this is not surprising to me. What did surprise me was that my highest percentage was naturalistic. One question that I often ask is, Why? I enjoy having a knowledge of how things work and the ability to understand a variety of subjects, but did not realize how highly it impacted my learning. The few categories where I scored low were music and body kinesthetic. Neither of these surprise me much. When I work and am trying to concentrate I find that music and movement is very distracting. I have learned to eliminate them when focus and concentration is crucial. The rest of the categories I scored from 49% to 63%. I feel this explains my ability to learn a broad spectrum of things quickly no matter what the method of learning is. The two areas where I scored the highest were interpersonal and intrapersonal. The poem expressed his relations to a caged bird and how he understands how the caged bird feels. Dunbar s use of imagery and repetition helps to clearly depict the struggle to obtain freedom and the feeling of imprisonment. Dunbar s usage of imagery is greatly expressed throughout the poem, with the uses of your senses. When the river flows like a stream of glass; When the first bird sings and the first bud opes... , Dunbar uses the senses of sight and hearing to help the reader picture the scenery to better understand that the bird is trapped in a cage witnessing the beautiful outside of flowers blossoming and can t be a part of it. In addition, Dunbar later elaborates the birds struggle to be on the inside of the cage by stating I know why the caged bird beats his wing Till its blood is red on the cruel bars And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars and they pulse again with a keener sting which instigates that the bird has... After the worst recession of 2008 to 2009, many companies have learned the best lessons because during that time they fought not to be out of business, some merged , others companies barely survived. Most companies are left with recessionscars and the fear that it can happen again. From that worse recession companies have learned to be prepared. As new laws and regulations are passed by the congress, companies, (Geicoincluded ) analyse the impact those policies would have in the company in case of a new recession. For instance, as the new healthcare law was passed some companies are looking in diminishing the hours of work from their employees in order to make enough profits. In can of new recession period the companies would not have to worry of making extra expenses in paying for health care for the employees. A different approach is made by other companies who are looking into hiring employees with multiple work experience which can be used in the company instead of hiring a lot of people specialized in a single technical area. For those companies willing to keep their employees, they are offering training to employees so that they could have a small number of employees and well qualified. Other companies are relaying into getting temporary employees, like consultants, for a number of projects instead of hiring a permanent workers. Those companies reactions lead to the thought of ... This article calls to attention that not all patients respond fully and how family accommodation specifically influences pediatric patients with OCD. It raises the question if there are improved outcomes based on family accommodations. With that being said, the study investigates the association between family accommodation and treatment outcome in a relatively large sample of pediatric patients with OCD participating in cognitive behavioral therapy. The outcome regards how effective the treatment actually was and what impact it had. The prediction is that the majority of parents would report family accommodations of their child s symptoms and that family accommodation would be seen as positively related to ratings of child OCD impairment. In turn, the level of family accommodation would decrease following cognitive behavioral therapy participation and post treatment levels of family accommodation would be ... They are mollusks of the Class Cephalopod, along with the nautilus, cuttlefish, and octopus. Squids are highly evolved, and have developed a number of traits uncommon to most other mollusks. Fossil records of cephalopods have dated back the Cambrian Period (about 600 million years ago). Structurally, squids have only small variations of a basic theme common to all cephalopods. They are spherical or cigar shaped with two fins used to stabilize movement when swimming. Ten arms are easily distinguished emerging from near the mouth Eight of these arms each have four rows of suction cups encircled by rings of chitinous (horny) hooks. These suction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Squids (and cephalopods in general) possess several unusual abilities that help them deal with their predators (which range anything from large fish to sperm whales). Their lack of an external shell allows them to squeeze into very tight places, enabling them to conveniently and easily hide from their enemies. When confronted with a dangerous animal away from hiding places, however, squids seem to have a disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If attacked, they have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their skin, in effect camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep brown color, to a white, or almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to slightly change the texture of their skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink cloud. The ink cloud has a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud initially causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility and allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria in their ink so that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the campaign Labour, Liberal and Conservatives agreed on the need to cut spending, but the proposal of Cameron was the hardest. At the same time, the Tories thought the reforms had to start immediately, while the Labour preferred to wait a year until the economic recovery was consolidated. Indeed, some fear that the spending review will not help UK to get out of the crisis, and they claim that the present difficulties are only an excuse to reduce the power of the state (an important principle in the Conservatives ideology). On the other side, Conservatives think that the private sector will be able to support the economy and will be reinforced, in spite of the cutback in spending. The cracks were repaired, and the pillars were installed deeper and actually strengthened the bridge. However, these corrections proved to be inadequate when the Skyway was struck by the freight ship. When looking at old pictures of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, it is very evident that the gaps between the pillars were too wide. They might try fending off such moral challenges by claiming that substantial amount of advertising is necessary to boost the sales of their products. On the 3rd paragraph the Sun states the following the swan had the strain which can be fatal to humans. Instead of just using the swan had the H5N1 strain the Sun chooses to create more of an impact by using the word fatal and implying it to humans. And with changing social norms, fathers are much closer to their children than ever before. The old stereotype of a cold emotionless labourer has been replaced by the soft caring figure who takes an interest in his kids lives. Alice Munro, Wendy Wasserstein, and Theodore Roethke all explore this new relationship through various mediums. Boys and Girls (Munro) is a short story about a young girl strongly influenced by her father trying to find her place in the world. Tender Offer (Wasserstein) is a play detailing the difficulties of communication between a father and daughter in modern times. Lastly, My Papa s Waltz (Roethke) is a light hearted poem illustrating a joyful night shared by a father and his child. Among all three works, the children can be seen looking up to their fathers hoping in turn to be recognized by them. This common theme can be traced among the different works of art thanks to plot, conflict and imagery. In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls , the author employs both plot and conflict to bring forth the strong yet one sided relationship. Throughout the short story, the main character, Margaret, avoids at all costs the indoor chores her mother is tasked with, preferring to work on the farm with her father, work done out of doors, and in my father s service, was ritualistically important. • 53. History Of Independent Contractors And Employees Introduction Independent contractors and employees are two significantly different types of workers and this distinction is clearly important in the realm of business as it alters many policies. As a result, the court is often tasked with the question of differentiating the two types of workers. To help the judges with this question, the upper level courts have created multiple tests to help determine an employee from an independent contractor ranging from the test developed in the case of 1671122 Ontario Ltd. v. Sagaz Industries Canada Inc, Housen v. Nikolaisen, 2002 SCC 33 to Wolf v. The Queen, 2002 D.T.C. 6053. This quotation clearly demonstrates that the government almost completely neglected the students of Yamacraw Island.
