starred Al Pacino and Marlon Brando as the two main characters. This movie is

sympathetic light and by the end of the movie you are truly rooting for them. I like
that Coppola takes a very unlikeable subject and generally bad people and turns them

In Pat Mora s poem, La Migra, she talks about a game being played. The title of the
poem is the game, but, it is not a game. She gives descriptions on the border patrol
officer and the Mexican woman he is looking for. She lists them separately and
describes their strengths and weaknesses on how to beat one another in this game.
While us readers do not get a definite answer on who wins this game we get a good
sense as to who has the upper hand. By introducing the Mexican maid second, the
way she responds to the officer s remarks, she outsmarts him at his own game. This
can be drawn to a conclusion in which she wins the game and gets away. Pat Mora
uses the perspective of the officer, immigrant, and the image of running from the
officer as a game to receive the audience s attention. As readers of the poem, La
Migra, we can use the theme and relate it to today s feud about police brutality and
injustices. Pat Mora easily obtains the audience s attention by stating that the two
characters will be playing a game. La Migra, is the Spanish translation from border
patrolin English. It is often heard and used in the media to instill fear in immigrants

SICC Showcase Concert Reflection
On September 26th, 2016, I went to the Bennet Auditorium a little before 6:45 to
see the SICC Showcase Concert. My roommate Isaac was performing, and he

by various groups. Every single one had singing, but some had piano, drum, or
cello accompaniment, which was pleasant. I could really tell the hard work that

a nation. Imperial colonization has been occurring sense the beginning of time. An
imperialistic nation would increase its importance and power by winning an empire.
Some takeovers were forced by political rivalries. One nation might seize a territory
to prevent a competitor from expanding into that region. Some nations would expand

Many people who weren t pleased with their economic and political status could
migrate to new regions to find other opportunities. Others were inspired to spread the
word of Christianity and sought a new standard of living. But most importantly,

Imperialism has developed two very different meanings in history and in time. The
imperialism of the 16th century was much less rapid and dominating than that of the
